YEEEEAAASSSSSSSSSS!

What an unbelievable night for Arsenal.

We went away to one of the most devastating attacking teams in world football and nullified them.

We made them look average.

Arsenal used their physical advantage and made a Carlo team look like a group of school kids.

Emery out thought one of the greatest managers to have graced the game.

Our players held their focus and kept a clean sheet over 180 minutes.

We landed our SECOND clean sheet away from home in a week.

We took on a high-pressure game and DID NOT bow.

The players everyone said were Wengerfied stuck a big middle finger up to world and showed the way forward.

Arsenal demonstrated that they can rise to the occasion. We showed that we want to be in the mixer come what May. We delivered a stunning result.

I don’t want to overegg this, but fuck it, I am going to. This is what we bought into. This is why we changed manager. This is what we wanted.

The most important part of this week for me is that it is clear we have a manager that doesn’t have an ego when it comes to his methods.

How many seasons have we watched the same mistakes made over and over again? About 10. I almost couldn’t fathom the notion of a manager that would pivot. Someone who’d assess what’s going wrong and make a better choice. Someone who’d suck up their pride for the greater good of the club.

Last night was all about Emery for me. That’s his imprint on the team. It was fucking majestic.

Now we have to go on and make it happen again in semifinals against Valencia. Our season can still go to shit. The players need to retain focus. Nothing is won in Aprill.

However… I will savour this moment. That was a big night in Europe and we shone by playing the game, not the team. A tactical masterclass. ARSENAL DOING A TACTICAL MASTERCLASS.

Wonderful.

See you in the comments.

    Are you fcuking kidding me?

How about our fixture pile up with us in the semis?

Haha? wanted him before e he went to Manure and then after when he went back to Palace. Wenger didn’t rate him enough to buy him – Twice it seems

Now we have another shot at him>

TIME TO GO – Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha insists he should be playing in Champions League: ‘I have to aim for the very highest level’
Wilfried Zaha has put the big clubs on alert by outlining his ambitious plans
He wants to play for an elite Champions League side and challenge for trophies
Crystal Palace fended off strong interest in their pacy winger last summer
But there is a growing feeling at Palace that it is the right time to let him leave

As for city vs spurs, don’t worry, city wins this comfortably.they won in the Champs lge remember? Only away goal kicked them out and it was all down to aguero missing a spot kick and guardiola in explicably benching DeBryne

    Vieria should be our manager.

Jesus, what is with arsenal fans and not wanting a manage to take over. It’s always a new comer, isn’t it ? first arteta, with his no experience but plenty of surprise and now Viera. OGS and moyes at utd should be prove enough, to get in a proper manager. Sure you may fail with an experienced manager but looking around the other clubs, there’s more success with experienced managers than failures.

    Must agree Sanmi.
    Moyes -McCarthy-McCleish big Stan
    Hughes-Mc Claren- Howard Wilkinson

    Cheers Tony
    Nice to be appreciated.

I noticed that you think palace will be easy tomorrow…..I’m not so sure.

Napoli were made for Arsenal , no aggression , no physicality , one dimensional with no pace to hurt us so we could press from the front ….I was impressed with Emery tactically , especially early on and the way we took the game to Napoli , I think it took them by surprise.

Palace are a different kettle of fish all together …the complete opposite to Napoli in fact and that may cause us a problem if they are on their game.
Being at home may be the one deciding factor as our home form is excellent though I suspect that Emery will rotate which will mean a weaker centre mid which may cause a problem ……I am expecting a good game.

No one has ever has answered me (because they can not) this question..

Why are we continuing with Emery as manager when not 1 Arsenal fan alone – wanted him to be their manager.?

As a matter of principle- I will not support him ( team differently).Because he will never ever be good enough for Arsenal.

The fans were entitled to an innovative radical agenda under a new exciting coach
That’s what Gazidas promised us – remember

We now have Emery with his clipboard, tactics, multi subs, Europa Cup Obsession, broken English and frankly circa 1980’s football.

It obviously pleasing some for now.
His CV says it wont last for long.

  11. Charlie George

Emery will never win us The League
Or build a team to compete for it.

Therefore he should be replaced with someone who can – for next season.

Patrick Vieria could be our Kevin Keegan like figure for next season..
Time for Arsenal to be bold not boring…

  12. Pierre

Have to say , Emery’s touchline antics are slightly embarrassing..all that arm waving and pointing to where he wants the ball played to is pointless really , it’s just for show.
When a player is on the ball , the last things needs is a manager shouting in his ear as to where he wants the ball played.

It reminds me of parents on the touchline shouting at their sons(and daughters , I don’t want the Pc crowd on my case) .
How can the kids play with any enjoyment and freedom when the parents are so emotional on the touch line.

Great players of the past- Tony Adams, Dave Mackay, the late great Tommy Smith, Bremner – indeed Charlie George would have throttled the manager of emerys ability-if they ever told how them to play,

Why should Emery – the little pipsqueak (emery!!!) tell how Ozil, Ramsey and co. to play during the game?
What has he ever done on the football pitch? The pumped up lackey!
Just sit- and stop looking like a Wally- with inane facial grimaces,

I really admire your resilience in persisting with your Emery hatred even when a lot of posters have pointed out how flawed your opinion is.

Yes, you maybe right when you say that Arsenal Supporters were underwhelmed when we announced Emery. But regardless of our squad being sixth best in the league, playing two consecutive seasons in the Europa league and the fact that our board has been historically averse to spending big in the market, the fans(i’m also one) still thought we were going to get a box office appointment.

However, looking at our current situation, Emery has indeed done a solid job in getting us with a shout for Top 4. Yes, we are not playing the rock star football you desire but how many times over the last 15 years under your beloved Wenger have we said that we needed to approach big games with some plan and tactics. We are finally seeing it , much to the delight of many supporters but people will always have something to complain.

Secondly, how can you say that the recruitment was a botched up process. We did interview a lot of candidates including the Top Tier ones. Do not link Gazidis and Sven departure with the hiring process. That does not in any way support your botched claim. All Top managers like Klopp, Guardiola, Mourinho, Enrique have spent huge amount in getting their teams to the present position.

Lastly, what is this with we should have Wenger back in some capacity ? The man is finished, CG. The fact that no decent teams are looking to get him tells ya lot. The best he can hope for is call from Everton like teams who can aspire to qualify for Europa League. Elite level was never within Wenger’s grasp even in his pomp. Football today has become a lot technical.

Just look at how Manu are suffering by allowing Fergie to advise them on Football matters. Right from David Moyes to OGS. United have made gross mistakes in appointing managers. Apart from Mourinho (Uefa Cup), no other manager has had a decent success. The latest OGS appointment is starting to look like another Botched operation and a colossal one too. If Manu dont get Top 4, we can easily see OGS having another dreadful run next season which will ultimately result in yet another sacking.

We should confine Lord Wenger to the History Books now.

Just so you know, if you had any doubts, I don’t take you seriously. However, out of general courtesy, I would like to highlight the following.

Emery may not have been everyone’s first choice but, to be honest, it got to the stage for many fans that anyone was better than Wenger.

I was actually more than happy to get Emery. Viera would have been great but there was no guarantee that it would have been a successful appointment.

If I had to grade Emery on his efforts to date, based on all the shite left by your beloved master, I’d give him a B.

Your non-stop attacks are not justified because, whatever way you look at things, we have improved.

    Have a great Easter.

  18. Charlie George

A beautifully written post Sid- many very excellent points- and I thank you for them

“””the fact that no decent teams are looking to get him tells ya lot. “””

What it tells me- he is waiting – for an opening to come back where he belongs at The Arsenal. ( not sure what capacity, though)

    the Kroenkes love Mr. Wenger,

If people really believe Arsene Wenger – has not been offered plum jobs in Soccer- they are even more naïve than I initially feared.

The man is footballing 24 carat Gold.
    he wants Arsenal.

  19. Drey

    Charlie

“Great players of the past- Tony Adams, Dave Mackay, the late great Tommy Smith, Bremner – indeed Charlie George would have throttled the manager of emerys ability-if they ever told how them to play”

Tony Adams and co retired 500 years ago, the football atmosphere has changed since.

“Why should Emery – the little pipsqueak (emery!!!) tell how Ozil, Ramsey and co. to play during the game?
What has he ever done on the football pitch? The pumped up lackey!”

I know you are in denial, but Sir Alex, Mourinho and other great managers all had uneventful playing careers, even the mighty Wenger had a playing career to forget. Hell, as a coach he was a nobody before coming to the Arsenal.
How Dare he change nutrition and training methods at Highbury, what has he achieved?

I know you are just trolling for the sake of it but Unai Emery has won the Europa League THRICE. He has achieved a LOT.

“he is just a bloody coach- with some coaching badges”

Lol… you are really pathetic. I will be praying for you.

“Vieria v Emery- Man v mice.

    You sir, are a fool

  20. Charlie George

    Drey

I do genuinely believe coaching badges are a scourge on our game,

    too much coaching all round
    too much tactics.

the irony is – the teams with the least amount of coaching and tactical input – win the MOST.

  21. Charlie George

Real Madrid win the CL 3/4 with a vulgar 442.

    No pressing or tactical straightjacket.
Just great players playing in a balanced team.

Wow that piece from the Guardian you linked to – the journalist is a complete fucking moron. The Spud’s can afford to lose the Poch and Kane but the one irreplaceable person is Daniel Levy? This is the guy who completely fucked up the stadium project and has appointed a dozen or so managers who have all been at best fucking useless until he lucked out on the Poch.

I don’t know what the Spud’s are doing to get the media onside, the good news is Spud fans will believe the hype which will make their downfall all the funnier.

I do not hate Mr. emery.

He seems a very decent young man,

I do not think he is right for Arsenal.
I think we are moving in the wrong direction with our footballing policy

I want us to be expansive- not expedient,
I want us to be innovative- not ennui
I want Ex Arsenal players- who have served the Club with distinction- given the chance to direct our future.

I do not want us to be bogged down in Europa league – I want us to be competing in the Prem. ( and you can not do both)
I also want the fans – to demand more,

  26. Marc

“I want Ex Arsenal players- who have served the Club with distinction- given the chance to direct our future.”

You would have thought what’s going on at ManU would remind people that just because someone was a good player for a club doesn’t mean they are a perfect fit for manager.

  33. Words on a Blog

    AlexanderH / Marc,

The journalist (Barney Ronay) who’s got a way with words but often stretches his points, is trying to make a parallel between the importance of Levy to Tottenham and Dein to Arsenal back in the day.

It’s fair to say that when Dein left he left an Arsene-shaped hole in Arsenal and that we were never as sharp commercially, and in terms of transfers and commercial strategy..

Levy has done well too recently at Spurs, in terms of transfers and the selection of Poch as manager, through luck (as I would argue) or judgement.

But there is one key difference between the two. Dein got the Emirates built, within budget and with no delay, at less than half the price of the Spurs Stadium, where under Levy’s management there was almost a year’s delay, plus a huge cost overrun in the hundreds of millions.

Even after building our stadium within time and budget, we ended up suffering 7-8 years of tight budgets, until the arrival of Mesut. Spurs are gonna be in a similar position, only with a much bigger amount of debt and interest to repay, whether or not Levy is around to manage the process.

So in my view they need Poch to stick around as much, if not more, than Levy.

  34. Jamie

    Don –

You’re a moron. I guess I have contempt for myself, whose Father was French, who is fluent in French, and who grew up in both Paris and Brussels. My French passport is about to come in really handy because, you know, I actually travel internationally. My British passport is about to become as worthless as your academic credentials, however. My only genuine contempt is for Brexit-supporting buffoons like you.

Not everyone is an insular-thinking mono-linguist, an uncultured, unsophisticated, and uneducated plumber who grew up and lives in an English ghetto with other angry and disenfranchised locals on the dole/tax credits complaining about ‘half-breed foreigners’ like me coming over here. Don’t worry, Don. I didn’t come for your unskilled job, even though the only prerequisites to being a ‘successful businessman like Don’ are owning a plunger, a spanner, and a bus pass to get from gig to gig.

Stick to unblocking toilets and cutting out ‘free holiday’ vouchers from the Daily Mirror so you can take your wife somewhere nice this (sorry, next) summer.

Come back at me when you’ve upped your game, because your current level is amateurish. I’ll be watching the football in the meantime, hoping your favourite team in North London loses to the Mancs.

  35. Rambo Ramsey

    Jaime Lannister,

    Bravo.

We can all see your sophisticated education and high class personality shining throughout your last post.

  36. Jeanette Kliger

I always respected Wenger and loved what we did with him the first years.
His problem was his inability to change and not recognise that football was changing and that he no longer had the players to play Wengerball.
That said, I have a real problem with the people who heap opprobrium on him now.
The time has come to leave him out of the discussion.
    What’s done is done.
I’ll bet the vast majority of posters never envisaged the chance of finishing Top 4 (we may not).
I would like DB10 or Freddie as manager. You all have your favourites. We have nothing to say.
Can we get back to discussing football?

  37. Marc

    Words

That was my point. Levy is a joke he’s one of those you want to remain at the Spud’s. The journo also misses out that the Spud’s have effectively made it public knowledge that 12 first squad players are up for sales this summer.

  38. Jamie

    Marc –

Sure, the dishonest plumbers make a mint. The honest ones make £15 an hour because that’s the level of skill/training involved, and Don is terrified of the wave of honest and able immigrants prepared to do his job for £10 an hour in a 2nd, 3rd or 4th language. His fear of becoming professionally obsolete are legitimate.

  39. Words on a Blog

    Marc,

Yeah, we both agree re Levy.

Having said that, one area where Levy is truly excellent at is in media relations / public relations. There have beeen a countless amount of articles in the press praising his commercial and transfer strategy/“vision”….I don’t recall ever seeing something questioning his judgement. The man’s got the journos eating out of his hands.

  40. Tony

    Pleasure Pierre

I know Palace will fight hard; I just think being at home and with the recent wins, we should dispatch Palace, but………………..

I have been known to be wrong before so will keep the humble pie recipe handy just in case.

If it was an away game, I would think differently.

Also relying on Emery to be consistent with a good team selection and tactics.

3:1 to us is my gut feeling.

  41. Leftsidesanch

    I’d love it Marc,

Son, I have to admit is very good, already causing this City backline problems.

  42. gonsterous

    jamie

don’t know about the UK, but here in Switzerland, plumbers earn around 4500-5000 francs a month. That’s not bad money if you ask me. some thing like 25-35 francs an hour.

  43. gonsterous

Looking at the game, I can see why city are favourites to win the title. They don’t have to go above 2nd gear to score a goal. Liverpool on the other hand, have to work harder when they face the top teams.

  44. Dream10

You can see why Guardiola’s struggle in the last stages of CL. One of the best teams talent wise and little control of the game.
Ferguson’s Utd teams had the same problem in the 90’s and the first half of the 2000’s.

  45. Jamie

    gonsterous –

I believe it. One of my sister’s was born in Geneva, and the labour market there is distinctly different to that of the UK’s. I’m not disparaging the profession, but the irony of Don belittling another poster here for ‘being a postman’ shouldn’t be lost on anyone.

City are all over Spurs. A 2nd goal would end it.

  46. Words on a Blog

Just as someone’s ethnicity, colour, sexuality or religion is irrelevant to this blog, their job/profession, “cultural sophistication” (whatever that is), level of education and proficiency with languages is equally irrelevant.

No one goes on a football blog to interact with polylingual opera lovers and we shouldn’t care less whether a commenter is a plumber or a postman or a jet-setting corporate raider.

    Everybody should cool it down.

  47. Nelson

Son could have scored two goals in the first half. MC is not sharp today. The Pools are probably lacking their lips.
Son and Moura are fast runners. They rely on supply from Eriksen. Just hope that Spuds loses Eriksen this Summer.

  48. Marc

Out of todays match day squad the Spud’s have announced they will listen to offers for the following players: Rose, Alderweireld,Vertonghen, Llorente, Janssen, Wanyama and Eriksen. Also on the list are Trippier, Aurier, Lamela and Sissoko.

Now however much you rate the players that’s a huge turnover of fist team players. They are playing the revamp the squad card but a major part of the problem is wages – players want more than the Spud’s pay a problem that is not going to get any easier with the stadium debt.

They are going to have to be very good / lucky with recruitment.

  49. Marc

I think both teams look a bit jaded today – not to be unexpected after midweek. It will be interesting to see how the second half unfolds. If City were to drop points they would effectively be going out of two competitions in a few days.

  50. Marko

Have to say , Emery’s touchline antics are slightly embarrassing..all that arm waving and pointing to where he wants the ball played to is pointless really , it’s just for show.

I must say I loved this one from Pierre earlier. He’s embarrassed by Emery directed his players from the touchline but was absolutely infatuated by a man who wringed his hands and struggled with his zipper on the bench. Every. Single. Game. The fucker just sat there doing nothing until the 67th minute. Absolutely pathetic really. You’re just not used to a manager who actually does his job and knows what he’s doing. Wenger sitting down struggling with his thoughts and his jacket? Not a clue. Emery like Klopp and Pep and pretty much most managers with a bit of fire in them? On their feet and doing their job.

  51. gonsterous

Looking at the highlights, spuds played well. created chances, so let’s hope city puts a few more past them in the second half.

    Jaime

yah, nah, no worries. The Labour market in Switzerland is very well payed. Though it leads to a lot of students not going on to university and everyone just heading to professional schools. Which has its perks, but they then you don’t see many Swiss doctors, most of them are from the neighbouring countries because there is so much gap in the market for those higher educated positions.

  52. Dissenter

    Marc
I have been telling you for a while njo tan Sounds are going to spend massively this summer from the proceeds of players sales.
They have so many high value players on then transfer block and could easily make £150 million from selling Toby Alderweireld, Eriksen and Wanyama.

Just three players can fund their summer business … it doesn’t involve the stadium in any way.

  53. Dissenter

    Marc
*I have been telling you for a while that Spuds are going to spend massively this summer from the proceeds of players sales

  54. Marc

    Dissenter

We don’t yet know how much money the Poch will be given from the proceeds from player sales. If it’s 100% plus some money then they are in a better situation than I believe. If they £200 million to spend £100 million it’s a different story. You also need to factor in selling those 3 players well 2 of them are going to need to be replaced by good players.

  55. Marko

Just three players can fund their summer business … it doesn’t involve the stadium in any way.

This is not remotely true. I realize the times have slightly changed but you must remember us selling our best players and not all those proceeds went back into the playing side. Well that was when we moved stadium and we weren’t 600 million over budget and estimate. If you don’t think that will have a knock on effect then I honestly can’t help you. It’s was already having an effect they just went through two transfer windows without buying anyone. Now? They’re 600 million over on a stadium and there’s a chance of no champions league football. You’re assuming way too much on them selling players too. Not only will they not be selling everyone but the players that they’re likely to sell this summer bar Erikson won’t fetch much. Alderweirald is available for 26 million the likes of Llorente and Danny Rose and Wanyama honestly won’t fetch much. Lamela maybe? He’s not kicked on in the slightest though and is injury prone. I’m assuming that you are banking on Erikson going for about 100 million. He won’t. Besides all that even if he did you’d be a fool to think all that money would go back into the squad

  56. WengerEagle

Nervy for Citeh when there is still only a goal in it.

Would be scenes if their quadruple fizzled out into the shittiest ‘double’ known to man at the hands of the Spuds in the space of a few days.

  57. Marko

He has a year left on his contract as well. Any notion of him going for a 100 million is a pipe dream. Be lucky to get 50-60 million for him. And that’s being generous. United might pay it for him Barca won’t and I assume Madrid have bigger targets in mind this summer

  58. Charlie George

Don’t know what Pep is doing on the sideline there. Doesn’t he know the key to success is to sit down and to start fidgeting with his coat. He’s doing it all wrong

  62. Jamie

Ramsey didn’t extend his contract with us because we wouldn’t meet his wage demands.

Paying him £400k a week is the kind of short-term thinking Arsenal can’t afford due to years of financial mismanagement.

  63. Marko

I don’t see Madrid going for Erikson. They’re probably going to go hard for Hazard and Mbappe this summer. Maybe Pogba.

  64. Dream10

    Wenger Eagle

Eriksen lacks the flair of a top player, but he is quality. Two footed, great final ball, one of the top ball strikers and has a diesel engine. City,PSG would be great for him.
David Silva is past his best, De Bruyne is broken. Ndombele, Verrati, Eriksen would make a trio at CM.

  65. WengerEagle

Yeah Marko, Hazard looks practically a done deal.

ZZ was quoted as saying he’d take Hazard to RM with his eyes closed when he was at Lille. Fair to say that he’s gotten just a little bit better since then.

Chelsea in a grim spot if they fail to secure CL.

There’s a big market for Eriksen , that’s why he will go for at least 100 million, even though he has one year left on his contract.

PSG, United, Bayern, Real and Barca said to be interested.

  68. Jamie

Spurs with their stadium debt and Chelsea with their transfer ban (and losing Hazard) missing out on the CL next season would make for a tremendous summer.

No chance. Not elite enough. £50m at the very high end.

  70. WengerEagle

KDB looked fairly unbroken during the week though you have to say, was a pretty spectacular assist for Aguero’s goal.

I agree on Eriksen’s skill-set, guy’s a very good all-rounder on the ball and does everything well besides being wasteful in front of goal, his set-pieces have deteriorated too which can happen as we’ve seen with the likes of Ronaldo and Calhanoglu.

Lacks that extra spring in his step that separates the elite though, he struggles to go past a player.

    …then you consider the demand.

  72. Marc

I actually think the Spud’s might get £70 million ish for Eriksen. It’s not about is he good enough for Madrid etc it’s about the fact he’s one of the Spud’s best players who will have to be replaced.

  73. WengerEagle

    Agree Bamford.

Fact that he only has a year makes it all the more certain he won’t fetch a high price, I don’t think he goes for more than 50-60m even contracted up.

I look at facts rather than supposition, and this is what I know. Ramsey was asking for the figure he received which, if the BBC is to be believed, is £400k a week.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47203118

We can’t afford to pay that kind of money to any of our players after Ozil was handed the most ridiculous contract in our history.

“No other clubs give their star players away FOR NOTHING to better clubs. If they have .
    Name me one example?
    Just 1,please…”

You got it. Sol Campbell from Spurs (a top English club, am I right) to Arsenal, soon to be the Invinsibles you keep reminding us we are. Know your history, son.

  75. gonsterous

no idea how much ramsey was demanding but we were led to believe the deal was on the table but ramsey did not want to sign it. It got improved but gazidas left and it was removed from the table. That’s all we know.

So don’t see how emery gets the blame for that. He has some say on the first team but not Wenger like powers.

We need to win tomorrow, also if utd and chelsea get results, spuds could drop to 5th.

  76. HighburyLegend

“Don’t fuck it up tomorrow Emery FFS”
Danny, you are well aware that it’s the players who play on the pitch, not Emery, right ??

  77. Marc

The Spud’s have badly fucked up by announcing they are in effect having a fire sale of players. A chunk of those players are down to a year left so teams will just play hard ball.

  78. Marko

PSG, United, Bayern, Real and Barca said to be interested.

Nah I’m not so sure about the 100 million or frankly that all those clubs are interested in him. PSG more likely to be interested in Ndombele for example Bayern more likely to be interested in Brandt or Havertz or Pepe for example. 100 million when better can be gotten for less. That ain’t Erikson

  79. gonsterous

lol, penalty claim for tots, lol, Harry Kane said some thing along the lines of “it evens itself out during the course of a season ” when he got a penalty against us. Now they have got one against them and karma is just so sweet.

    Gazidas and Dortmund Eye

As i was saying it was BOTCHED.

    >>>>>>

    Ohhhhhh boy.

His CV was so vastly superior to that of Wenger when he took over it’s not even close.

Emery has won more European trophies than Arsenal and Wenger put together.

  81. Marko

Transfermrkt.com lists Ericksen’s transfer value with one year left on his contract as about £80 million.
    …then you consider the demand.

First things first those values aren’t set in stone they’re frankly irrelevant Neymar for example went for 200 million and he’s valued at 162. Secondly it doesn’t take into account his contract it doesn’t. And thirdly he’s worth as much as a buying club is willing to spend to get him and that’s not going to be 100 million. I know the transfer market has gone bonkers these days but in all honesty fuck all players have gone for 100 million or more

  82. WengerEagle

Leverkusen have plenty of assets, just like Eintract Frankfurt.

Havertz, Brandt, Bailey, Volland will all fetch a decent chunk of change, Bailey especially could be had for a bargain now compared to last year as he’s had a pretty poor season end product wise. Happens to young players, I’ve still seen enough that I really like him.

Kostic looks a really good player for Eintract besides the obvious ones in Jovic, Haller and Rebic.

Brilliant end product and can play anywhere up that left flank, so much better than Kola.

    PierreApril 20, 2019    08:50:40

Have to say , Emery’s touchline antics are slightly embarrassing..all that arm waving and pointing to where he wants the ball played to is pointless really , it’s just for show.
When a player is on the ball , the last things needs is a manager shouting in his ear as to where he wants the ball played.

It reminds me of parents on the touchline shouting at their sons(and daughters , I don’t want the Pc crowd on my case) .
How can the kids play with any enjoyment and freedom when the parents are so emotional on the touch line

    >>>>>>

    Ohhhhhh boy.

Pierre reaching for new desperate levels to try and discredit Emery.

See Guardiola and Klopp then come back to me.

Unlike Wenger who’s only touchline activity was trying to do his zip up.

wow, does arteta fill that definition up there ?? Not for me. What about Arteta is exciting ? He was an average player who did nothing exciting but people expect him to be exciting and innovative.
Get in DB10, he used to excite me, or zidane.
Would we be where we are with arteta in the dug out ?? I think not.

  85. WengerEagle

    Marc

Eh I don’t see it, he’s only 26 still with huge upside.

Malcom and Dembele have had similar struggles adapting, Barcelona are a different beast to any other team in Europe when it comes to bedding in. Prime Suarez is a freak, and even he didn’t explode until his 2nd season there. Same goes for Neymar.

Also the fact that they’ll at least want to break even and they overpaid for him because they were desperate post-Neymar.

  86. Marko

Julian Brandt is 22 this season he’s been more deployed as a attacking CM and he’s flourished in the role. Apparently he’s available for about 25 million this summer. There’s no way Bayern for example would spend 100 million on Erikson when he’s available for that.

  87. bennydevito

Yep Ramsey wanted more than Ozil. Never worth it and he tried holding us to ransom.

    Good riddance to injured rubbish.

  88. Bamford10

    Dissenter

Yeah, I think they are overestimating his value there. WE is correct: he’s good, but he lacks the change of pace and athleticism of the best of the best. I don’t see anyone spending more than £55m on him. We will see, I guess.

Different player, but recall that some saw Dele Alli as a £90m player a year ago or two years ago. Do people see him as that today? No. £40-45m, tops.

    Good players, not Hazard level.

  89. Dream10

Bailey having a below average second year. Seems too much of a straight line runner with not enough finesse. The type of player Arsenal incorrectly will consider as a winger signing. Wonder if he can become a budget Vardy?

  91. Bamford10

    Benny

That isn’t true. Ramsey was about to sign for £225k or so a week. That might be more than some here would pay him, but it’s pretty much the market and it’s a lot less than Ozil. Ramsey has been a real professional for us this season and has been hugely important, so I don’t know why anyone would be throwing shade at him.

Yeah he’s suffering the Lemar syndrome, his all-round numbers haven’t really taken a noticeable drop but his end product goals/assists numbers have taken a nosedive.

You lose credibility when you ask for a single example of something, receive it, then try to pivot and establish different parameters because you’ve been shown up.

Sol moved for free. Of course Spurs didn’t want to lose him for nothing. No club ever wants to lose their best players on Bosmans. That wasn’t what you asked for, though. You asked for the following:

“No other clubs give their star players away FOR NOTHING to better clubs. If they have .
    Name me one example?
    Just 1,please…”

I gave you one, so I’ll put it in terms you can understand:

    Jamie 1 CG 0.

No idea why anyone reads or responds to CG. This guy is a lunatic. Emery “humiliated” Ramsey? Huh? The club decided it would go in a different direction but treated Ramsey with the utmost respect. Ramsey has nothing but positive things to say about Emery and Emery has said only the best things about Ramsey.

Emery has an inadequate squad in position to qualify for the CL, has more wins in his first 50 matches than any previous manager, but this lunatic is calling for him to be dismissed? Come on.

  100. Marc

It’s funny how Ramsey leaving is all down to Sanllehi and Emery but they don’t get the credit for the signings of Torreira, Leno and Sokratis.

CG you are so full of shit.

  101. Jamie

    CG –

I agree that between Ozil and Ramsey, I would’ve kept Ramsey. That said, neither are worth more than £150k a week to us in my view.

Suggesting we start offering everyone over £200k a week in order to scratch a top 4 finish is short-sighted. We need to get rid of most of our high earners over the next 12-24 months and start integrating younger talent into the squad on more reasonable terms.

£400k a week for Ramsey is an appalling judgement call. If I’m wrong and he leads Juve to the CL trophy during his stint in Turin, fair play to the lad.
