An angry bear awaits

Who else is getting very excited about the Spurs game?

Have you been sending all sorts of shit to their fans?

No response?

Send some more.

THEN BATTON DOWN THE HATCHES IF IT GOES HORRIBLY WRONG ON SATURDAY.

Airplane mode for 6 days straight.

Look at that meme, a thing of beauty. Crafted from my own fingertips. It’s incredible because it is relatable. It’s relatable to me because I MADE IT.

There’s been a lot of chest thumping from fans saying ‘IT’S ALL ABOUT WHERE WE FINISH’, and yes, this is true, and if we deal with Spurs, United and the slew of tough away games, then yes, Emery is the master of the universe.

Arsenal is everyone’s best pal when things are going to shit. They are the sleeping bear that Timothy Treadwell is goading in the meme. This weekend will mark the total collapse of their season, or it’ll mark a nasty cut to the Achilles heel of our #Top3 dreams. United are plodding along very efficiently, Chelsea has title blood in their veins, so despite sitting pretty… it could all turn Shaqiri gurning levels of ugly if we don’t strike while Spurs are weak.

Again, I’ll reiterate this point: 3 of our best players are coming into form and fresher than James Blake one-liner on Twitter.

That is a huge advantage if Emery can keep them all motivated until the end of the season.

Some great numbers doing the rounds yesterday. Mikhi has better stats than Dele Alli, Zaha, Lingard and Willian despite playing less games than all of them.

Maybe Sven did pull off a madness? You only appreciate them when they’re dead… or resigned.

Bobby P has taken a huge gulp of air and got down to some serious brown nosing with the mighty, infallible, NEW King of Arsenal.

“He fits the mould of the type of player that Arsenal look for with our style of football. He’s excellent at dribbling, has superb vision & his overall technique is top class. He has spent a lot of time working with Iniesta which has improved his game massively”

Trying to cover his tracks, he weighed in on the Ozil debate after the German had been returned to first team duties.

“Its vital that Emery finds a space for Ozil in the team. It would be a big step backwards for the club if they sell him. He recently extended his contract & there’s no arguing that he is one of, if not, the best player in Arsenal’s squad”

HARRY KANE ESCAPES BAN FOR HEAD BUTT BECAUSE HE IS SENSITIVE. F*cking jokes, blud.

FINALLY, Mesut Ozil has scored in the last three games he’s started with Jenko. All this time and the answer to unlocking Mesut was sleeping in an Arsenal-themed tent outside the training ground.

FIRST NAME ON THE TEAM SHEET THIS SATURDAY, FAM.

Right, I think that’s about as much Arsenal as I can handle today. But before I go…

Champagne it’s not FA cup or too 4. Wenger achieved both with worse squads and was rightfully still considered shit

Receding Hairline

RH, so now Madrid aren’t elite?

Discussing managers not clubs. Saying he is linked to Madrid makes him elite is what is being discussed not Madrid’s place among the elites.

Many duds have managed Madrid hired by the same man, managing Madrid or being linked with them does not make Pochettino elite.

I wonder what he will take to a gathering of truly elite managers, his manager of the month awards??

China1

Pedro he outperformed expectations to build this excellent squad on a budget and deserves total credit for that

But he’s got that squad now and it is absolutely good enough to get top 4 AND win some smaller cups.

You guys keep making it this either or proposition. Wenger was pants and did both with worse squads.

Bamford10

Pochettino is elite, but he hasn’t done anything to warrant being called “great”. He’s a good manager — how good remains to be seen.

Champagne charlie

China As I say, lambast Poch for disregarding the cups if you like but he’s prioritising the League and CL. I don’t think he loses sleep over the cups and you’re free to argue he should, I’m not immune to the idea of a small cup helping to shift a mentality. So by all means, but I’m arguing that to disregard his ability as a manager on the strength of no trophies is laughable. Receding said yesterday, or the day before, that Poch , hasn’t won any big trophies because he’s not capable of it. I find that mental when… Read more »

If arsenal had spurs current squad you lot would not be celebrating the top 4 trophy as sufficient 3 years in a row I absolutely promise you

Receding Hairline

“RH, do you think maybe the way you view managerial strengths is perhaps flawed?”

Nope

I am very fine with my views thanks.

For the records no one is saying the man in question isn’t a very good manager nor that he has not done an amazing job with Spurs, but you keep talking about the next level, why can’t he take Spurs to the next level if he is truly “great”??

Do you think your view could be flawed?

Champagne charlie

“If arsenal had spurs current squad you lot would not be celebrating the top 4 trophy as sufficient 3 years in a row I absolutely promise you“

Again, Arsenal aren’t Spurs. You’re massively underestimating the culture change needed for a team and it’s fans to realign their expectations. Poch has Spurs hopeful of a title challenge, that’s huge progress for them in and of itself.

Arsenal have resources that shit on Spurs, and a history that suggest we should be challenging. They have none of these things. You can’t be serious with that as a comparison, it’s fundamentally wrong.

Receding Hairline

“Receding said yesterday, or the day before, that Poch , hasn’t won any big trophies because he’s not capable of it. I find that mental when considering the club he’s at, the competition they face etc.”

I said trophies not “big trophies”…man hasn’t won a plastic cup in management and you are writing that off with “wait till he gets a big job” while doing all you can to downplay three straight European titles (yes the Europa league is a European title and Wenger does not have one to show for 22 years at Arsenal)

RodneyK

No one woukd hire Poch if the remit was winning the EL as a back-door into the champions league. Just saying.

Poch has created a new normal for spurs whereby he built a team that is right in the upper echelons of the league rather than a 8-6th place team That is a massive achievement. The richest, most powerful clubs win all the trophies worth winning ( with the odd exception). For me spurs don’t need to win ‘big’ trophies. For now even one league cup would be a clear success with a top 4 finish for them.

Which was unimaginable just a couple of weeks back.

It’s also incredibly unlikely but it’s possible that after looking like sneaky title contenders in mid February that Spurs could drop out of the top 4 in the space of a month, us beating them would make things very tight up there presuming that Chelsea win and United continue to win.

They have two very good full-backs for RB and LB, Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Sanchez at CB, across CM they have Dier, Sissoko, Winks, Eriksen, they opted to let Dembele go to China in January after all.

And then across the front 3 your options are Kane, Alli, Son, Lucas Moura, Lamela, Llorente.

Would have thought that was simple to comprehend but then again ………….

Lest we forget they even bottled it in the Leicester season when all the top teams were crap

Spurs have the mental strength worse than wenger babies no matter how talented the squad is. Poch needs to be the one to fix this issue

Champagne charlie

Liverpool have more depth than Spurs for me. Sissoko has turned up this season, but he’s been a bust, Lamela offers what? Llorente scored his first goal in 60 games coming off the bench the other night. These are bodies, not good depth. I’d have Sturridge over the lot and he’s got 20mins in him a week.

China1

I suspect spurs’ mental weakness stems from the fact that their squad collectively has less personality than a bag of rocks

This was the wenger baby problem. Finding fantastic young talent on the cheap is really hard but is possible. But finding said talent that also has a backbone is much harder. Seems like only Simeone has the answer on that one
