Suarez and Nkunku deadline day players to watch

by .

Oh, man, too much excitement.

We’ve pretty much landed Denis Suarez. There was some worry, mostly fueled by me, that the deal was going to fail because Barca dropped the announcement of their homepage… however, there has been no noise about a failed medical.

Ornstein reckons Perisic and Carassco deals are very unlikely, but the Nkunku deal is 50/50.

So we have a wide left player who can give Emery more finesse with touch and a bit more energy moving the ball and potentially a utility midfielder who can play right back.

There is a horror thread from David Cartlidge on Suarez.

If you click into it, he basically says Emery didn’t know how to use him, the player is no more than a cog in a machine (our machine is bad), and he has issues like a lack of personality and the inability to impose himself on games.

Well, he has it all to prove at Arsenal. At least if it goes badly, we can send him back.

In other news, ESR has moved to Leipzig on loan. A bloody excellent move. Nketiah has gone to work with Jens at Augsburg in Germany. Ben Knapper working that new loans job well. GOOD LUCK CHAPS.

In footballing news, Arsenal moved back into 4th after Chelsea took a SPANKING at Bournemouth. Other good news stretched to Liverpool drawing.

For all the shrieks of ‘Emery can’t compete for top 4’, it appears that with a squad of supposedly shite players, we’re in 4th heading into February.

It’s all about coaching now. If Rafa Benitez can beat Pep, then there’s no reason we can’t. Apparently, we have the same points total as them since late August.

Just don’t play a high line… please, please, please don’t put us through that.

Right, that’s me done. I did a podcast for your ears. I’m alone.

I hope Emery is prepared to give our youth CBs a run out because what we should have done was to sign a decent CB and LB this window.

… and no I’m not talking about Cahill.

Please Arsenal can we start having some pride and stop signing over the hill rejects?

Receding Hairline

Happy to be proved wrong but I would have rather given our youth products more game time and saved the money for the summer transfer window. We paid 1.4m pounds loan fee to get him, we have no obligation to buy. What exactly is wrong with some on here, we need bodies who can play wide and drive with the ball, we can’t do any outright deals so we are doing loan deals to help us push for the champions league. Especially when he says Bergkamp and Henry were secret heroes of his? Bergkamp is a global superstar and is… Read more »

I can’t believe the amount of pundits who bend over backwards for man utd. Everyone thinks man utd will get in the top 4. That’s not unlikely but I don’t see this run of utd going for long.

Suarez will buy into Emerys idea of working hard without the ball as well as with it. So if we start him on Sunday we at least have 11 v 11.

WengerEagle

CA Frustrating isn’t it? We really could have done with Lacazette or Aubameyang in the Cesc era/Wengaball days where we were loaded to the gills with creative midfielders and not much in the way of finishers with Ade suffering a bit of one-season syndrome/leaving in ’09 and with RVP’s struggles with keeping fit. Now it’s firmly the opposite, we’re crying out for a Nasri, Rosicky, Hleb, Arshavin, Fabregas and can’t play two of our best players together at their premium. I’m pretty worried that we’re stuck with Ozil. Genuinely don’t see a potential suitor happy to pay his wages unless… Read more »

What good is having a 60 million pound CF getting splinters lodged in his arse while we have gaping holes in the XI?

Obviously in an ideal world we keep both and strengthen elsewhere but we’re seemingly not financially in a position to do that.

Leedsgunner

Selling Lacazette is nuts… especially in the form he is in.

We’ve been down this road before if it is £60m or so we’re looking for we can find that by selling our deadwood before we touch Lacazette.

Plus before we start selling our best players again let’s have a clear direction that we are heading for.

Haven’t we learnt anything from selling Cesc and RvP? Where did that get us?

We’re treading water, and unless we improve our defence we will sink that much quicker without his goals.

Like saying that Higuain and Dybala played in the same position.

Redtruth

The maligned Glen Helder was better than Zaha..

Suarez is better than martial, sterling, lingard, willian, son. Hazard is the only winger better than suarez in the top 6 currently

compare the 4-4-2, laca and bergkamp would occupy similar positions. That of the second striker. Henry had greater over all play than Auba, which is another reason we need laca in the team.

The real argument is, if we sell a striker, why are we not selling the 30 year old ?

Sanmi

I have watched suarez repeatedly, as I watch most barca and villareal matches.
He’s not Hleb. He’s style is more hazard in nature. He’s not going to score you load of goals, but he will open up defenses. He dribbles with pace and has good pass.
Iwobi is going to the right. We need an AM. Our pressing will be good with an AM that can close down if Ramsey leaves

Denis Suarez has confirmed that Hector Bellerin sent him a message as speculation built of a move to Arsenal, and he’d love to play alongside the full-back in the future.

I can imagine that Emery was planning to play a 4 -3 -3 system. On the left, he’ll have the established Iwobi and Kola pair and on the right, he’ll use the Suarez and Bellerin pair. Too bad we lost Bellerin for the year.

@Leedsgunner

Whether it was due to the limitation of available players, up to now, Emery doesn’t like to use a #10. He uses inside attackers pairing with FB or RB crossing to a lone striker. Initially, we had Mkhit pairing with Bellerin. Now he have Iwobi pairing with Kola. I can’t see Ozil fits in Emery’s plan unless he is willing to adapt. We have many competitions. We’ll always need body for rotation.
