Oh, man, too much excitement.
We’ve pretty much landed Denis Suarez. There was some worry, mostly fueled by me, that the deal was going to fail because Barca dropped the announcement of their homepage… however, there has been no noise about a failed medical.
Ornstein reckons Perisic and Carassco deals are very unlikely, but the Nkunku deal is 50/50.
So we have a wide left player who can give Emery more finesse with touch and a bit more energy moving the ball and potentially a utility midfielder who can play right back.
There is a horror thread from David Cartlidge on Suarez.
Some thoughts on Denis Suárez to Arsenal. First of all, a loan without the obligatory purchase option isn’t a bad deal by any means, as he’s only really produced one good half a season in his career to date. It’s low risk.
— David Cartlidge (@davidjaca) January 30, 2019
If you click into it, he basically says Emery didn’t know how to use him, the player is no more than a cog in a machine (our machine is bad), and he has issues like a lack of personality and the inability to impose himself on games.
Well, he has it all to prove at Arsenal. At least if it goes badly, we can send him back.
In other news, ESR has moved to Leipzig on loan. A bloody excellent move. Nketiah has gone to work with Jens at Augsburg in Germany. Ben Knapper working that new loans job well. GOOD LUCK CHAPS.
In footballing news, Arsenal moved back into 4th after Chelsea took a SPANKING at Bournemouth. Other good news stretched to Liverpool drawing.
For all the shrieks of ‘Emery can’t compete for top 4’, it appears that with a squad of supposedly shite players, we’re in 4th heading into February.
It’s all about coaching now. If Rafa Benitez can beat Pep, then there’s no reason we can’t. Apparently, we have the same points total as them since late August.
Just don’t play a high line… please, please, please don’t put us through that.
Right, that’s me done. I did a podcast for your ears. I’m alone.

Must have something to do with our actual league position….
Oh my bad, I meant nice groovey!
“For all the shrieks of ‘Emery can’t compete for top 4’, it appears that with a squad of supposedly shite players, we’re in 4th heading into February.”
Er………..did YOU really just write that Pedro?
There is a horror thread from David Cartlidge on Suarez.
Yep. He finishes by saying it’s low risk. In the words of Colonel Kurtz the horror…the horror…the horror
“If you click into it, he basically says Emery didn’t know how to use him, ”
You just can’t resist the daily digs can u
For all the shrieks of ‘Emery can’t compete for top 4’, it appears that with a squad of supposedly shite players, we’re in 4th heading into February.
How about the shrieks of he’s doing a bad job and there’s zero improvement. I would suggest overachieving with a poor squad is an improvement on under achieving with a poor squad
Claver
Almost as if Emery is doing an acceptable job with a 6th placed team.
Pedro might inadvertently have been saying that.
Tony
Ozil is just a bad fit for Emery-ball.
And if case you are wondering, yes Sanchez would have tanked for Emery as well
Anyone who can’t take very specific instructions to play in a certain way won’t work for what Emery has in mind.
Take Ramsey. Hardworking, lots of stamina and willing to bust a gut. But can’t do things exactly the way Emery likes it. Contract offer rescinded because he is downgraded from essential to merely useful.
That does not mean they are bad players in any shape or form.
We’re in 4th place because Emery has done a decent job with a shite squad, and because Mourinho tanked Man U and Sarri doesn’t know what he’s doing at Chelsea, not because we have better players than them.
Thinly veiled compliment? He’ll be back to outright condemnation once City beat us on Sunday. Might sit atop the fence again if we beat United
Good to see some intelligent well balanced posters on here now who have a good insight into the game instead of the usual lot who continually criticise our most talented players. I’m talking about Valentin, taking the Mhik plus I’ve always liked TR7 who are not on here just to make snide remarks about our players . Charlie George and UN may have extreme views but you can tell they have the club at heart ..Dark Hei is another well balanced poster . Shame about many of the others who don’t understand what it means to support the club and… Read more »
Ramsey’s contract was also rescinded because we could get more for less from another player. The days of huge wages for little output are over I’m afraid. Expect the culling to continue in the summer. Mhiki, Ozil and Mustafi next
“If you click into it, he basically says Emery didn’t know how to use him, ”
Suarez rejected an outright transfer to Sevilla and Real Betis to join a manager in a tough league who did not know how to use him is the gist.
Not often – I disagree with PedRo’s post – but I vehemently oppose his thinking- that for Eddie and Emile the Bundesliga clubs are the ‘best places to learn ‘ How do you know this? You are just assuming that the German clubs are more successful than their British counterparts-with regards to nurturing young talent. I echo Valentins thoughts – everything Emery /Raul do is so haphazard and devoid of any long term plan. If they genuinely thought – these two players needed loaning out. WHY were they not loaned out on the 1st Jan not 31 st Jan? And… Read more »
WTF is going on at Chelsea ?? lol
Too bad we are so inconstant, the 4th place could be ours…
And the fact Emery don’t want any defender is complete nonsense.
Shame about many of the others who don’t understand what it means to support the club and feel that Arsenal are entitled to be at the top.
Who are the ones whining their little hearts out every day 6 months into a transition after 10 years of decline and who are the ones calling for patience and saying it’s going to take time? Great trolling again Pierre, not transparent at all…
@CG : Arsène is still unemployed (despite some offers from the greatest clubs on earth lol), why don’t call him back ?
Yeah adds up re Suarez, have had reservations on the deal but I suppose considering that it’s only a loan we can feel him out until the end of the season before we commit a gaffe and our stuck with more deadwood in the squad.
Not enthused on Nkunku really, looks pretty ordinary and PSG are happy to part with him despite having fuck all midfielders.
Out of everyone that we’re being seriously linked to Carrasco is the only one that I would find remotely exciting I have to admit. Which is a shame as it looks unlikely.
CG
First off, ESR isn’t a winger. Second of all young players go out on loan to get playing time in a competitive environment, not because the loan club has better coaches you numpty.
HL
I would have him back – as DoF
Howe or Vieira as the manager .
In some good news at least Chelsea are a bigger mess than we are at the moment. Who would have thought 6 odd weeks ago that United would be the main top 4 threat and not Chelsea? Basically even on the talent side of things although a motivated Hazard may edge Chelsea in that department but only one of them is playing for their gaffer, Sarri has been shown to be clueless and has lost the dressing room. Always felt that Sarri was weirdly overrated, like Tuchel came 2nd with the clear 2nd best team in the country and the… Read more »

We need one . And he should be our winger now.
No logic to buy Suarez when you have ESR
None. None whatsover!
“Rowe Smith should be at Arsenal and on the bench- pushing for first team action. He is a natural left footer- hugs the touchline- and gives natural width and is rapid.”
Fucking hell CG
Firstly his name is Smith-Rowe
Secondly hes right footed
Thirdy hes not in any way a wide player.
Do you even watch Arsenal?
Wenger as director of football. Lad pissed away 100’s of millions on players threw wages at shit and was awful at signings. Fucking genius that. Why not let that fox look after our chickens while we’re at it
Smith-Rowe will benefit from playing in Germany.
Good luck to the lad.
He’ll come back a better player, as will Reiss Nelson.
Firstly his name is Smith-RoweSecondly hes right footedThirdy hes not in any way a wide player.
No no he’s left footed and it’s pronounced Rowe Smith.
“I would have him back – as DoF”
Amazing… Charlie George seems to be stupid enough to believe that a man only attracted by the POWER would allow someone else to coach the team.
Well done, sir!! lol
Charlie George should post on Untold, not on Le Grove lol
Jorginho has been dreadful for Chelsea, 50 million for a CM that can do little besides picking out accurate distance passes, of which David Luiz a CB can arguably do as well.
Slow, lightweight/delicate, can’t dribble, can’t shoot, doesn’t score or assist goals, weak defensively and in the tackle, non-factor in aerial duels.
Worst of all though is how they have shunted Kante out onto RCM to accommodate him, one of the very top CM’s in the league.
Power and MONEY, of course.
lol Klopp blaming the snow for Liverpool’s result last night.
What a jerk…
Speaking of Nelson. what’s happened to him lately is he injured?
I wouldn’t have Arsene Wenger back to clean up the jacks at the Emirates. Keep him away
And he blames the refs, as well. Is he Wenger’s hidden son ??
WE
I remember some on here calling for Sarri in the summer.
I was dead against that. Absolute hipster loser of a manager.
Just looked at the latest Accounts of Arsenal Holdings Limited for the year ending 31st May 2018. 1. Wage Bill has risen to £210 million!!! No doubt includes massive compensation package to Wenger. 2. Something strange about the incoming and outgoing transfers, because we made allegedly a substantial loss in our dealings. According to Transfermarkt we made sales larger than acquisitions. Yet Arsenal claim there is a deficit of around £60 million!!! 3. Our bank balance has grown to a massive £231,344,000. So much for the impoverishment of Arsenal!!! You have to ask what is going on that we are… Read more »
I accept-he is not a natural left footer. He is even better than i thought- he is a natural 2 footer.
He will undoubtedly play on the left side any team. Its his running style
i stand by this point though:
Suaraz in
Rowe Smith out is a chronic judgement call
This Boy is so good- he play tricks with ones eyes!
WE seems to be injured now. Completed 70+minutes on 15th of December and then the next couple games got 20 mins here and there. 7 goals in 800 odd minutes for Hoffenheim. Lad is still learning. Not ready yet for Hoffenheim or us
I can see Reiss going out on loan again next season. I don’t think he’s a viable option for us yet. Still very much up in the air and a season barely playing with us could ruin him
Wolves sign Jonny permanently for 18 million. Fantastic player
Charlie
The wage bill was £240m, of which £17m was for Wengers pay off, so £223m.
However we signed Auba, Mykhitaryan and Ozils new deal in January, so they would only have counted for 5 months.
So the true run rate is probably more like £225-230m.
I dont think the wage bill wouldve gone up much this summer, as the folowing players left:
Wilshere
Cazorla
Mertesacker
Ospina
“I can see Reiss going out on loan again next season. I don’t think he’s a viable option for us yet. ”
No But the likes of Elneny/lich/iwobi /jenks/are?
(Bizarre and twisted thinking marko)
Charlie George,
I’m getting really perplexed by you. How many times do you need to be told we’re not buying Suarez, we’re LOANING him ffs!
We’re loaning him.
We’re loaning him.
We’re loaning him.
Charlie George, the epitome of “should have gone to specsavers”.
If we want to improve you don’t improve by replacing Iwobi and Ozil with Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe. Not yet certainly
I think Nelson may have another loan.
I said at the start of the season I could see Nagelsman taking him with him at the end of the season.
He hasnt played as much as he would like, and at 19 he may still be a bit young to play regularly.
Nelson, Smith-Rowe, Saka, Amaechi, NKetiah are all too good for youth football, but need that bit of experience.
Marko
” we want to improve you don’t improve by replacing Iwobi and Ozil with Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe. Not yet certainly”
Smith Rowe has a bit of class about him. I’d like to see him come in for iwobi next season. Nelson has gone a bit cold in Germany, but the ability is definitely there.
bd
What on earth is the point of LOANING IN Suarez who has never even scored a goal or even played for us -and at the same time LOANING OUT ESR who has (europa cup etc).
My point is : its totally nonsensical. An perfect illustration here -Why Emery is not fit to be the Arsenal Coach.
Mhik it’s because of their potential and ability that they need to go on loan. They need games and need to improve and they won’t get that making 5 senior appearences and playing for the reserves here. Another year in Germany or a season playing consistent football in Holland will do them better
For all the reservations about Denis Suarez he is undoubtedly better than Smith Rowe. You would be an idiot to think otherwise
Emile/Eddie/Reiss should be at The Arsenal on the fringes of the first team -getting game time against the likes of Cardiff city at home.
if Elneny /lich can get games- these lads can.
They all could have played 6 europa matches too.
post wenger
i thought we were employing a coach that was going to make our players better- not allow them to be coached elsewhere?
Emery- in his tenure here- has not improved 1 established Arsenal player.
he has destabilised Ozil and Rambo though
and he has serious questions to ask about Holding/Hector’s injury too
“What on earth is the point of LOANING IN Suarez who has never even scored a goal or even played for us”
What was the point in bringing in Aubameyang?! I mean, the guy never played for us, or scored a goal for us before we bought him either, right?!
he has serious questions to ask about Holding/Hector’s injury too
You are a cunt
CG
Are you for real?
Getting Wenger back as DoF is utter stupidity.
Marko.
First half of the season, the young players usually get games. Once the league cup is done and we get further into the Europa League, they are back in the reserves.
In my opinion, Smith-Rowe, Nketiah and Willock could all do with a loan
@Marko –
“You are a cunt”
Never a truer word spoken.
CG
What were you expecting post Apocalypse Wenger?
Taking the mhik “Smith Rowe has a bit of class about him. I’d like to see him come in for iwobi next season. Nelson has gone a bit cold in Germany, but the ability is definitely there.” Smith rowe picked up that injury at just the wrong time otherwise he may have got some game time recently and things may have turned out different for him this season . I think Emery will be reluctant to use the kids coming through as he feels it’s too much of a risk ..Personally I would have liked to have seen them get… Read more »
Weren’t we ten points off 4th place this time last year?
The season was all but over.
“We had assumed that we learned a certain style of football, but the truth is we never did learn it and are paying the consequences. […] We haven’t even learned the most basic moves yet. We need to work on the basics, the primary foundations of my football, and only then will we try to change a few things.”
-Sarri
But i thought i read on this pages it took him just three months to instill the style of football he wanted at Chelsea, and how Emery should learn from him, what changed??
Suddeutsche Zeitung report that despite struggling to make an impact at the Emirates this season under new manager Unai Emery, Ozil is keen to remain in London.
Of course he is the lazy, unambitious git!
Pierre
Agreed, Saka looks a real talent.
According to Wiki,
Suarez has scored 17 goals ?
Forget this Nkunku talk and just give Saka minutes
He is a winger, he is fast and skillful ..what’s the delay??
Rather we get an out and out right back on loan if we can
Wenger Eagle
Yeah you’re spot on regarding Jorginho.
They have Kanté and Kovacic who can play as a #6. What they need is more end product on the pitch. Get Hazard, Pedro and Wllian/Hudson-Odoi on behind Giroud and drop Jorginho. Sarri is an inflexible manager though.
16 apologies !

Sesame Street reports exactly the same.
Cookie Monster reiterates the report, whilst Elmo feels Ozil is taking the piss.
Big Bird just said “I could do fudging better”.
To think Jorginho was earmarked as the long term successor to Fernandinho at City. What a disaster they avoided
Saka is 17 years old and has 90 mns first team experience, thats the problem.
Theres a big difference between a 17 year old and a 21 year old thats played 50 games or so.
What the results of the top 6 have shown over the previous few weeks is that nothing should be taken for granted. There a some very capable sides lower down the prem that can take points off any team.. It’s the quality of the strikers in the top 6 that set them apart from the others . In many Arsenal games this season the opposition have had as good or better chances than our strikers but have failed to convert, that is why it is imperative that we keep Lacazette and Aubamayang at the club , they are our get… Read more »
Smith Rowe has a chance to be a quality player. Decent combination play and the ability to score goals from midfield as a teenager. Shades of a young Ramsey.
Sensible loans for both Smith Rowe and Nketiah. Hope Eddie plays often and regularly gets himself into goalscoring positions. If he does well, he has a chance to be a third scoring option for us off the bench & in the cups.
Why anyone would criticise Aubamayang or Lacazette is beyond me.
Off on another tangent all by yourself

Unbelievable!
You don’t get it do you?
No really…..you don’t!
Wenger stepping through the door in any role/capacity, would send us back to the dark ages.

graham “”Wenger stepping through the door in any role/capacity, would send us back to the dark ages.”” thats your opinion. We should bring in Bruce Rioch as DoF
Bergkamp tops any Wenger purchase…
Dennis Suarez skill level is amazing I’m surprised folks here are not excited. For me he’s a winger, he’s too explosive to be an AM. He picks his passes very well though but always run with the ball beating players for fun.
Auba will hit 30 with him supplying. Iwobi will be shifted to right wing.
Ozil will never play again
we can do so much better than the 2 people currently running the show
Wenger therefore is a better fit as DOF
Makes perfect sense really. You’re thick as fuck and you keep on going
Receding
Xhaka is a better baller than jorginho. Xhaka still initiates attacks , jorginho just go side ways. Xhaka still throws in challenges, jorginho has no clue
Marko – So you’ve chilled out a bit on Nelson now?
When I said he was nowhere near ready at the start of the season you had a fit.
The Suarez signing is identical to the terrible Perez signing those years ago. Identical…and it will end in the same way. But, if we blow a few mill on wages…meh.
Nothing to write home about and nothing to shout about. This is an Arsenal signing. 3/10.
Excuse me…I have some paint to watch dry.
Guendouzi is a 19 year old purchsse from the lower French leagues and keeping out these so called talented English pricks from the team..
The English youth at Arsenal are shit.
“To think Jorginho was earmarked as the long term successor to Fernandinho at City. What a disaster they avoided”
Guardiola has gotten away with so much.
Made it obvious he wasn’t bothered about Aguero. They could’ve easily sold him and had the average Jesus as their main man.
Wanted to buy Sanchez, who would not have improved them.
Signed Mahrez, who has done jack shit and again doesn’t improve the collective of any side because he’s so poor until the final third.
Jorginho as you mentioned.

Paulinho definitely not me. The lad barely played for us and barely made an impression. I know he’s not ready. Neither is any of our youngsters if you ask me. I think I might have argued with someone about this notion that he’s not improving at Hoffenheim because he’s not dribbling past players or something like that
Valentin has a screw loose if he thinks Man Utd will beat PSG.
Marko – Well he’s not improving is he, and dribbling was a massive part of his game in the youth set up so if he’s incapable of doing it at senior level then it’s a problem.
“Getting Wenger back as DoF is utter stupidity.”Anelka/pires/henry/Nasri/ramsey/walcott/ox/carzola/vieria/adebayor/toure/campbell/lehmann/carzola/ces/bellerin/RVP/koscielny/giroud/sanchez/ozil/petit….

Paulinho he’s definitely improved though I can’t guarantee he’s still improving no. The whole dribbling argument was a bit pointless because I doubt either of us have extensively watched his 800+ minutes at Hoffenheim and the amount of time that he dribbled. Definitely improved though. Went from reserve football to playing in the Champions league and scoring in the bundesliga
Arsenal’s turnover was £403,269,000 which is actually higher than the figures published recently by Deloittes in their league tables of club wealth. The actual drop in revenue by not playing in Champions League was set off by other income. Turnover fell by just £18 million. The club’s debt has now fallen to below £200 million, but significantly debt repayment for last year is just £9,471,000. So our debt servicing is just 2% of current revenues. The loss of £47,186,000 million is clearly based on a deficit in transfer market.
