HILARIOUS Poch meltdown + Rambo off early? + LOANS LOANS LOANS

by .

Before we begin, may I introduce you to some fine words from the Spurs manager.

“Tottenham, no history of winning,”

“Our glory, I watch the video about the glory, it’s with (Bill) Nicholson. It’s black and white and I watch it nearly every week. To create again that feeling you need time. Four years, five years, that’s nothing in the history of the club.”

“Again we’re going to have the debate whether a trophy will take the club to the next level. I don’t agree with it. It only builds your ego. The most important thing for Tottenham right now is to always be in the top four.”

Mainline this meltdown right into my veins. Beautiful.

Welcome to a BIG week. Cardiff, followed by Manchester City. A fairly straight forward game followed by OH SHIT THERE’S A BEE TRAPPED UNDER MY SHIRT kind of game against the best team in the country.

Let’s start with the news. I’ll give it to you agenda-free.

Aaron Ramsey wrote a tweet saying there’s a big week ahead.

WHAT DOES HE MEAN?

Well, he could mean he’s packing his bags early and heading to Juventus.

Or, he could just be excited about going back to Cardiff, followed up by City at home.

Tough to know what to make of it if we ship him off. If Champions League football is worth £40m and we only land £10m for him, it’s a pointless exercise because we’re stronger with a fit player who knows the league. I very much doubt we’ll replace him with a loan player that has anywhere near the quality he does, but who knows.

Next up. Sokratis. Out until the end of February.

What a bloody nightmare.

The good news is Kos didn’t break his jaw, just bruising and swelling. I don’t know what that means, but I assume they’d say if he were concussed. 2 weeks?

The really bad news is we’re heading into Sunday with hopes and dreams wrapped up in Mustafi, which is a bit like playing Russian Roulette with 5 chambers filled. There is no leadership in our defence whatsoever. A real concern.

Arsenal are going LOANS CRAZY.

I was told that even though we’re being linked heavily with a lot of loan players, it’s still unlikely we’re going to be able to do much. For the second time in a week, it appears we’re dealing with a CEO who doesn’t want to give us an option on whether we buy a player. Ivan Perisic wants to leave, Inter acknowledge this, but they want us to buy.

“Perisic? We must accept the situation that some players show a willingness to be transferred. The player has expressed this desire, we want to satisfy him but we also need to respect the value of the player. Nothing concrete has arrived yet, we’ll wait to see in the coming days,’

…  £35m for a 29 year is fucking bat shit crazy and payday loans levels of short-term thinking.

To sweeten the deal, Arsenal are apparently offering to ship Ozil off and pay half of his salary. Which again makes my eyes bleed, because Moratta is a very shrewd operator and not into wasting money.

This time last year we swapped Alexis for Mikhi. It’s like we never learn. If a fair chunk of the fanbase are excusing Emery’s first 8 months because new players have been bedding in, are we confident that someone from Serie A who is failing will hit the ground running in the most physical league in the world? I wonder if we’d be better of giving chance to someone young like Smith-Rowe or Saka.

If I were to be positive about all this. Perisic is a capable operator based on what we’ve seen of him in the World Cup. He has a tremendous work ethic and he can give us much-needed quality from wide positions if he finds form. His stats might look dreary, but you don’t know what the deal is at Inter. He might hate it. I’ve read that he’s a tricky customer to deal with, and inconsistent, but it would appear we’re very much in the ‘anybody will do’ territory which feels reckless.

To make matters weirder, Inter are trying to run a swap deal for Carrasco. Someone who comes with baggage, but is younger, with a higher ceiling.

“Carrasco-Candreva swap? It’s normal that there are contacts, Ausilio is doing a great job but we must wait for things to become concrete,”

Moratta also loaned Cedric Soares, the right back from Southampton. The guy knows how to sniff out deals.

LOTS TO DISCUSS.

See you in the comments. xx

Malcuit is really the only signing that could get me excited because he’s doing well and the need for a RB is real. Does beg the question why the fuck was Lichtsteiner even signed in the first place when he was bought last summer for around 8 million.

It’s funny a guy like Charlie George in the past would have been banned so much he’d be on his third or fourth moniker by now but for some reason he’s allowed to continue to spew his nonsense. I wonder why is that. Can’t put my finger on it

We should have more than 100 million next summer. No way certain players survive. Forgetting the people who are leaving for little or nothing I’d be shocked if any or all of Ozil, Xhaka, Mustafi and Elneny are still here next season.

I’d much rather Arsenal won the FA Cup, than come 4th, 3rd or even 2nd, in PL. Not the League Cup (or whatever it’s called nowadays), I have never rated that. But the FA Cup is special, and it’s extra-special that Arsenal have won the trophy more times than any other Club. And I’ve no doubt that at the end of this season, most Spurs fans will agree with me. And, despite what he said, I am sure Poch thinks the same, except he’s had Levy weeping on his shoulder: no matter what, qualify for the CL, we have a… Read more »

Ivan im with you on ridding us of Ozil
If that means Perisic, who is a blue collar type player so be it. What I remember is that he is a goal threat, powerful shot- ( his thigh showing off in the WC)

Best thing is that Ozil is gone. The salary is worth 3 good players!!!!

Ivan

GoF – im Croatian so i know a bit more about him than most here. In no way im for that deal based on national preference. It only makes senese if ge get rid of Ozil. He has way more pace than Mhiki, can shoot but seson or two and he will decline so he is no long term solution. When Ozil leaves, it will also be the lingering stench of Gazidis and Wenger as well.
It was those 2 that sanctioned this move- with Kronke Sr giving his blessing.

Ozil would do better in Serie A- been saying that forever. The league is suited to him.

Perisic is still quality- can be stop gap for short term
Plus he adds some needed experience and toughness.

Just worried when he gets relegated to the bench if we get a younger better winger. – will he throw a fit?

Un na naai

Perisic is worse than ozil. It’s an abysmal bit of business. He’s not going to come to England and light up the Emirates.
Give me Suarez Carrasco or James any day of the week. Give me ozil. This is just. It’s. It’s just bringing some one in for the sake of having someone come in.
Nothing has changed. Wenger is gone but it’s the same methods being used. Makes you wonder doesn’t it?

how is he worse than Ozil? Perisic is a winger with an eye for goal.
Better pace than Ozil, dribbling, toughness.
He is the anti ozi and we do need a winger- a proper one. not a converted one
This would allow PEA to stay up front, and protection on the wing with our wingback staying BACK more often.
It also allows more width in attack- which is what Emery would like

If this means OZIL going, please do it. Hell Id take Squallici back if it means Ozil leaves

Un na naai

He’s not that quick. He’s nit that technical. He doesn’t score that many goals. He doesn’t register many assists. He’s past his prime. He’s difficult. He’s coming from a slower league where he’s not doing that well at the minute. He’s 29 and his asking price is £30m

I fail to see how this is a good move.

In the summer, Cech, Litchsteiner, Elneny, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Welbeck and Ramsey could all be gone, freeing up around £550,000 a week.

No vision in the Perisic signing and zero chance of it being a loan until seasons end.

There will be obligation which makes its daft.

I was hoping for this new crack team to unearth gems and cultivate or take a young player like Wolves did w/ Neves who clearly had value but could step up to next level and fucking deliver. bennydevito

So is Perisic happening? I’m not seeing any sources saying so?

As long as it’s loan only with no obligation to buy I guess it wouldn’t be too bad but at 30 if it’s permanent and it’s a choice between Perisic and Suarez then surely Suarez would be the better value as he’s younger and you never know he could turn into a good player for us, afterall Bergkamp and Henry hit a wall at Inter and Juventus then came here and were sensational. Suarez is surely the better option out of a very poor selection being touted?

Financially and for the future, it would make sense to sign Suarez if we have an obligation to buy.

I fancy us to get both.

There’s a reason why serious clubs rarely ever sign wingers in their 30s for genuine money

If you stop to think about it, how many examples can anyone here think of of a 30 year old winger being signed for 30+m and wages of 180+k a week?

Apart from Ronaldo who is a contender for GOAT and usually plays more central anyway, there are damn close to zero examples.

So Emery’s latest presser really points to no incomings of note this window due to lack of funds for players he wants. A couple of loans but without being forced to buy is all. I’m good with that. Too often we have stop gapped, really need to play smart. I’m hoping we have our summer targets already identified and its none of these guys we are linked to for loans. Hungry players from 20 to 24 who are looking to make step up is what we need to push us back to champions league

Tony, agree with you about the rugby. Will always be obsessed by AFC but game of the weekend is Ireland v England. Don’t mind Perisic really as long as it is an option to buy. He will at the very worst be a decent signing, he offers us the chance to actually have a winger in the squad, he’s direct, good dribbler and is hard working. Considering we’ve got Nelson and Saka as young wide players as well it might not be the worst thing. We need a winger, badly. We have no money. Not easy. The club might be looking at Chelsea and United and be thinking 4th is a possibility, Spurs could even be in there if the injuries have… Read more »

Interesting Emery conference which 100% puts paid to the notion that Emery and Raul are taking over the club in some sort of Spanish coup in ivory towers and annexes bring built right now and are in charge of the transfers, dictating what can be spent and on whom, they’re not, the board are.

Hopefully that will wipe the dribble from the mouths of the demented once and for all.

We can but hope.

“I am afraid he may take money out from this club to cover the debt”Scaremongering nonsense.

Haha
Bamford. Since when were you a mind reader? He’s already started taking money out until fan backlash saw an end to that. While gazidis was giving himself a handsome raise. That was when the club was public.
What makes you think he’s nit going to touch the accounts now that we are private??

You’re a fool. Bamford. Either that or a lying fool.

I like the fact this is the second itnerview now where Emery has been very straight. We have no money, in the summer we will. Basically saying I want to sign people but we can’t and so I’ve got to work with what I have.

No we have to look for exceptional quality but it is not easy to upgrade what we have, supermarket, bread etc.

Surely it’s classic lemming like behaviour if fans think this Persic signing is a sound one.. Forgetting aside for one moment he has asked for a transfer from his current club Inter ( outrageously unprofessional- and says much about his character)- To think a 30 year old wide player from the ponderous Serie A can come over and be a serious player for us is comical. Are there any precedents- in this regard? The sight of the geriatric Lichsteiner and the plodding Persic on the right hand side of our team for the rest of the season might even make… Read more »

I never said they were attempting To take over the club . That is impossible ,clearly

I said they were entrenching their positions.

By entrenching their positions ( see Valentins post)means they are doing what is best for themselves as opposed to the betterment of the club. ( see Persic signing)

It also means – there will be a bigger mess to clear up when the inevitable axe comes down on their miserable Arsenal reign.

“The easiest thing for me is to ask for more players but I love to work with my players,’ he said. ‘My challenge is to improve the players.”

For those who think he is so silly he doesn’t know he can simply ask for more players and put the blame for any failures on the club. Get sacked and collect his payoff. Then let’s bring in that special sauce who can turn Mustafi and company into world beaters and build a team around Ozil

Alexander Henry What I take from that is that yes he’s hungry for additions but his made a point of saying that he can improve these players. Let’s see If ranieri can get a team like Leicester to win the league then why can’t emery get this team to 4th place in the premier league? With Chelsea floundering, spurs have lost their two strikers and united have a rookie manager you’d think the stage is perfectly set for him to launch an assault on the top four We have no cup games and Europa is 2nd string til the quarters… Read more »

Bob N16 Agree the Ireland game will be a hard fought game especially being played in Dublin. We’ve been more expansive recently in our backs’ movements, so I hope we get away from the predictable pack domination rugby and move the Irish around more. Our kicking needs to be spectacular and we need to keep the penalty count below 8 for the game. I think it could go either way with few points deciding the outcome where the winner should be odds on for the grand slam to make their pre WC mark/northern statement. As you say AFC will always… Read more »

Question… if u dare..

Emery has brought 5 Spanish coaches along to assist

Emery has brought 6( Persic?) Players since his arrival.

None of these 11 are Black or British?

He has outed Chambers and wants Ramsey out.

Is he Xenophobic to British players? and tacitly racist for his obvious mistrust in black coaches and players?

I know you set a high bar – with regards to your xenophobia and racist radar.

Again. If ranieri can take that Leicester side to the title then why can’t emery get this team to fourth?

CG, How is the Perisic signing best for them as opposed to best for the club? We need an attacking wide player do we not? He had a good WC did he not? We’re rumoured to be signing him on loan are we not? At this point it is mere speculation as to whether we’re even in for him unless of course you’re privvy to the board meetings? How would signing Perisic specifically benefit Emery and Raul? Is he a dab hand with a set of hair clipoers and scissors and giving them free haircuts? Is he a landscape gardener… Read more »

Managed in the Premier league too with Cardiff. I am yet to see this perfectly set stage for an assault on the top four Bellerin and Holding out for the season, Sokratis out till the end of February, Kos having to be observed before every… Read more »
