HILARIOUS Poch meltdown + Rambo off early? + LOANS LOANS LOANS

by .

Before we begin, may I introduce you to some fine words from the Spurs manager.

“Tottenham, no history of winning,”

“Our glory, I watch the video about the glory, it’s with (Bill) Nicholson. It’s black and white and I watch it nearly every week. To create again that feeling you need time. Four years, five years, that’s nothing in the history of the club.”

“Again we’re going to have the debate whether a trophy will take the club to the next level. I don’t agree with it. It only builds your ego. The most important thing for Tottenham right now is to always be in the top four.”

Mainline this meltdown right into my veins. Beautiful.

Welcome to a BIG week. Cardiff, followed by Manchester City. A fairly straight forward game followed by OH SHIT THERE’S A BEE TRAPPED UNDER MY SHIRT kind of game against the best team in the country.

Let’s start with the news. I’ll give it to you agenda-free.

Aaron Ramsey wrote a tweet saying there’s a big week ahead.

WHAT DOES HE MEAN?

Well, he could mean he’s packing his bags early and heading to Juventus.

Or, he could just be excited about going back to Cardiff, followed up by City at home.

Tough to know what to make of it if we ship him off. If Champions League football is worth £40m and we only land £10m for him, it’s a pointless exercise because we’re stronger with a fit player who knows the league. I very much doubt we’ll replace him with a loan player that has anywhere near the quality he does, but who knows.

Next up. Sokratis. Out until the end of February.

What a bloody nightmare.

The good news is Kos didn’t break his jaw, just bruising and swelling. I don’t know what that means, but I assume they’d say if he were concussed. 2 weeks?

The really bad news is we’re heading into Sunday with hopes and dreams wrapped up in Mustafi, which is a bit like playing Russian Roulette with 5 chambers filled. There is no leadership in our defence whatsoever. A real concern.

Arsenal are going LOANS CRAZY.

I was told that even though we’re being linked heavily with a lot of loan players, it’s still unlikely we’re going to be able to do much. For the second time in a week, it appears we’re dealing with a CEO who doesn’t want to give us an option on whether we buy a player. Ivan Perisic wants to leave, Inter acknowledge this, but they want us to buy.

“Perisic? We must accept the situation that some players show a willingness to be transferred. The player has expressed this desire, we want to satisfy him but we also need to respect the value of the player. Nothing concrete has arrived yet, we’ll wait to see in the coming days,’

…  £35m for a 29 year is fucking bat shit crazy and payday loans levels of short-term thinking.

To sweeten the deal, Arsenal are apparently offering to ship Ozil off and pay half of his salary. Which again makes my eyes bleed, because Moratta is a very shrewd operator and not into wasting money.

This time last year we swapped Alexis for Mikhi. It’s like we never learn. If a fair chunk of the fanbase are excusing Emery’s first 8 months because new players have been bedding in, are we confident that someone from Serie A who is failing will hit the ground running in the most physical league in the world? I wonder if we’d be better of giving chance to someone young like Smith-Rowe or Saka.

If I were to be positive about all this. Perisic is a capable operator based on what we’ve seen of him in the World Cup. He has a tremendous work ethic and he can give us much-needed quality from wide positions if he finds form. His stats might look dreary, but you don’t know what the deal is at Inter. He might hate it. I’ve read that he’s a tricky customer to deal with, and inconsistent, but it would appear we’re very much in the ‘anybody will do’ territory which feels reckless.

To make matters weirder, Inter are trying to run a swap deal for Carrasco. Someone who comes with baggage, but is younger, with a higher ceiling.

“Carrasco-Candreva swap? It’s normal that there are contacts, Ausilio is doing a great job but we must wait for things to become concrete,”

Moratta also loaned Cedric Soares, the right back from Southampton. The guy knows how to sniff out deals.

LOTS TO DISCUSS.

See you in the comments. xx

“Last 16 games(not including the thrashing by Liverpool) No goals conceded in the first 20 minutes of the first half . Only one goal Conceded in the opening period of the 2nd half ( West ham) All other goals conceded after our initial burst of energy in each half. This tells me that the team is being sent out each half by the manager to pressure the opponent which in turn will expend energy and as soon as that initial burst of energy is expended then the team is vulnerable defensively. Pedro, please don’t compare Özil to Sanchez. Sanchez was our best player at the time and it was very painful to watch him leave. Özil is a liability, a parasite that we can’t get rid of and can’t utilise. Time we got rid of him in any way possible and move on.

Pierre

Would it occur to you that maybe the main reason Sanchez was so successful at Arsenal was because of his excellent on field relationship with Ozil …

It could also be pointed out that Giroud is experiencing the same problem at Chelsea…Ozil had an uncanny ability to float ” cowardly aimless crosses ” into the box that would somehow land on the head of Giroud .

The ” cowardly crosses ” remark is attributed to Receding Hairline.

Considering Arsenal’s situation, I think that there’s no reason to mock the Spuds…. but it’s only my opinion.
Which futur is brighter, ours or thems ?? Think about it.

God it feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel with this club. Like going head on into a car crash in slow motion. We have been slowly drowning for more than a decade and we are still going under. It wont be long until we will be hoping to make Europa league. 6 is the new 4.

Pierre

If Saka has any sense he should join Sancho ,Nelson and Hudson Odi in Germany and stay there until Emery has gone.

Perisic coming in will push Saka further down the pecking order …I’m not sure Saka is an Emery type player anyway , I can’t see him chasing lost causes all over the pitch ,wasting energy ..he looks way too intelligent for that kick and rush headless chicken style of football ..that’s iwobi and Ramsey’s department.

TallestTiz

Un na nai Yes I know. However, our build up play has been drab of recent because we do not have width to stretch teams. As a result we encourage our fullbacks to bomb forward and provide width. Hence we get exposed on almost every counter attack. This could have been solved with 3 at the back, but we do not have center backs for that as they tend to jam their heads not knowing who to do what at a particular time. Getting Perisic would first ease pressure on defence as teams will be more wary of out width… Read more »

So Emery does not rate Ramsey.
But Allegri does.
So Emery prefers the older ,slower and non scoring Persic …..to our boy Rambo?

Persics stats alone make you want to squirm – his current behaviour of Withdrawing from Inters Squad yesteday- sulking in other words – should also raise alarm bells.

A suicide signing surely for the Spanish Regime?
Are there any fans, -who have faith in this Emery/Raul combo?

Pedro I find it difficult to understand Arsenal’s gameplan in this transfer window. First of all why is the club prioritising attacking midfielders and wingers at a time when it patently obvious that the club’s real concerns are its defence which is not just injury prone but leaking goals? We know already that two defenders will be out injured for rest of season and there are serious concerns about others in the squad. Who turns in a transfer request for a 6 month loan move?

HighburyLegend

So, Inter want Arsenal to pay half of Ozil’s wages ??
Bunch of dirty little tightwads…

Charlie George

Sanellhi would not force this constant dross he is foisting upon as – if he was at Barca

We are as prestigious as Barca – and it’s totally unacceptable that he think he can do this to us.

We have been around for 125 years.
He has been here 5 minutes.

If this signing happens. His position has to be untenable.

Dissenter

It’s also cringe worthy the way we speak about Mavros.
It would be very Wengeresque if we are not bringing in a central defender this TW because we don’t want to block the path of a highly rated young player who’s track record is playing two league games, one of which ended with a red card.

Receding Hairline

We are not bringing in a central defender because we do not have money to bring in a top class central defender

Nothing to do with Mavropranos

Dissenter

If Inter gets Ozil with us paying half his wages
We can all chip in to pay Pierre to carry a large banner at the San Siri stating “Ozil, the misunderstood ”

I’m not so sure because any rational actor will look at the situation and try to find a short term fix to the central de offender position, even if it means scouring the lower English divisions.
It’s plausible that they think we are somewhat covered becauee Mavros is training with the first squad.

Pierre

For a swap loan deal to work , both clubs and both players have to be in agreement and there is no way ozil will agree to go to Milan just because Emery wants him to.

Ozil will sit it out whilst the pressure mounts on Emery until he leaves and then we will hopefully hire a manager who will recognise the potential we have in the squad and maximise that potential and promote the youth from within , similar to Solksjaer at united.

Receding Hairline

I think we should simply pretend the transfer window isn’t open rather than this embarrassing cap in hand loan deals we have been pursuing

I think FIFA should create a new rule that clubs have to show an independent arbiter that they have money in hand before they start pursuing transfers. This is to avoid unsettling the potential selling club with useless bids.
We’ve conducted ourselves in a rather unsavory manner all thorough this TW.
We’ve become the consummate tire-kickers, swarm in to make offers, unsetttle the player, can’t afford it and then we amble off to reach further down the barrel.
They should name the rule ‘the Arsenal rule’

Receding Hairline

We have seen His Quality against Leicester.

16 league games played and we are still referencing the Leicester game as proof our highest paid player is good enough. That game was played on 22 October, today is 28th January.

Hi all, I hope all well. I haven’t posted on here for sometime. Can someone explain why if we are the ninth biggest club in Europe in terms of revenue, the stadium is supposed to be paid off and we had a cash reserve of 220 something million or so I thought/read a while ago, why are we in this position of only being able to loan deal? Is this Gazidis and Wenger policy come home to roost!?

Graham62

TallestTiz £54.6m over a three and a half year period. What possessed Wenger and Gazidis to give Ozil such a ludicrous contract? On top of this, they chucked £60m down the drain on Sanchez by not allowing him to go to MC, whilst at the same time systematically hand out dumb contract packages to bang average players. Not only has this crippled the club financially, it has also restricted Emery in his development of the squad. Why no accountability? These two actions alone warrant a major enquiry. 5 defeats(and counting) in the last 6 weeks and Ozil hasn’t started any of those games .

We haven’t lost a game that Ozil has started since the 2nd game of the season.

We have conceded more goals per game without Ozil starting than with him starting.

Maybe that why I would like to see him start some games as we are obviously better with him in the side than without him…those figures don’t lie.

Receding Hairline

*23 league games played i meant to say

Leedsgunner

Inter apparently want to take Özil on loan with Perisic going the other way but they want us to pay half of Özil’s wages… for the rest of his existing contract so he’ll not be even playing for us and he’ll be earning more than people who are.

Incompetence.

Thanks Gazidas and Wenger for leaving us a heck of a mess to clear up.

Is this why we moved to the Emirates?

Leftsidesanch

‘We have seen His Quality against Leicester.’

That’s the problem though, almost in February and he has shown his worth to us in 1 game this season.

Dissenter

Anyone who chooses Ozil over the manager needs to volunteer for the pioneer head transplant project.

Ramsey’s deal was taken off the table [that’s if he ever intended to sign it] because we had no money, that’s fairly obvious. Emery thinks very highly of him and has said so from the beginning. The fact that he still, plays him says everything.
Ramsey has been the paragon of respect and 100% professionalism through it all.
It’s assumes the level of hate speech when you lump Ramsey in with Ozil.

Italian media report wages as net.

Dissenter

Joles

Why don’t we have money?
-We are still paying off Wenger and his team [exception of Bould]
-We have increased our wages bill significantly with the Auba deal [ he has some of the most generous per match bonuses which is why he is always smiling], the stupendous Ozil extension, silly wage increase for Xhaka, Elneny, Iwobi and Chambers
-Declining revenues from not being in the CL

-I expect that the wage bill from all these duplication of roles in the club is affecting us as well. Gazidis even increased his wages just before he left.

Pierre

Graham
I totally agree with you that the contract that was offered to Ozil was ridiculous, it hasn’t done the club or Ozil any favours whatsoever.

If ,as many are saying on Le Grove , no other club was interested in Ozil then it makes the decision to award him that contract even more ridiculous as Ozil would have accepted a much lower contact…..incompetence of the highest order.

Bergkamp63

If Perisic was 40 he would probably put more of a shift in than Ozil !

Perisic is 30 – but then so is Ozil!
Emery doesn’t play Ozil but one would assume play Perisic
Only way Perisic is a good idea is if we get rid of Ozil
That way we get a player Emery feels more suited to our play, so will play him and Perisic will be o 1/3 of the wages that Ozil gets

He’s a one trick pony who has proven that he’s not adptible. Unfortunately the last manager thought he was ‘perfect’ and overly indulged him.
