Arsenal vs Chelsea: A needed springboard opportunity for both managers

Unai Emery is now well and truly out of the Christmas crush. Arsenal have problems, they’ve been well documented this week, the only way out is world class thinking and a new approach to issues that have haunted us all season.

We go up against Chelsea, a team also in transition, a team that boasts a batch of issues not to disimilar to some of ours in the past.

They are creating chances, but they can’t finish. Midfield isn’t offering many goals and worryingly for them, it’s not offering up much in the way of fight. Jorginho is a passing machine, but his style isn’t producing enough on the pitch. Morata has been a total flop, Giroud is working hard to make shooting seem like a mainstream idea he’d like to eradicate. You’d imagine if we combined the two squads, there’d be something special there.

They need an away win, but it’s far from a cut and shut case like it has felt in the past (even though we had a good record against Conte).

The question for Emery is how does he want to play? Chelsea are good in posession and if we go toe-to-toe we could find ourselves on the back of a spanking. Chelsea have struggled against teams that pack the midfield and defence. They don’t have a striker, so finding openings is tough for them.

Our issues are the opposite of Sarri’s. We’re creating fuck all, but we have two electric strikers who can finish from anywhere. We lack width, Chelsea have great wide players.

My worry tomorrow is Hazard is always a disaster for us. One of the best in the business against an appalling defensive unit. The other player we might have to watch out for his Hudson-Odoi, who had a good preseason against us. The wantaway English wideman has a point to prove, he’s fast, direct and he will be licking his lips at the though of terrorising us today.

We have some secret weapons that could spice things up. We can call upon Mesut Ozil, who is always good after an extended holiday (Leicester springs to mind) and he had a fucking blinder against Chelsea in the league cup last season. We can also use Aaron Ramsey if we fancy. The great thing about these two players is they are both incredibly fresh. Which other teams in the top 4 have two of their best players August ready? None. We need to make something work.

The defence needs to be tight tomorrow, we need to play with discipline and the manager needs to pick a team that can stand the test of 60 minutes without a change.

I’d really like to see a plan tomorrow. This cannot be a rerun of the Liverpool game. The players didn’t believe they’d come out of that game alive, it’ll be very interesting to see how they’re feeling about tomorrow. This game will be a good indication of how the rest of this season plays out.

If we lose, we’re doomed to 6th. I’d suggest that Emery takes a new approach. Test out the kids, see how good they are, allow us to make better bets in the summer.

Right, that’s me done. See you in the comments you bastards x

Kos not moving well at all.

LeMassiveCoq

I’m not suggesting hes the answer…but Koz has been more like his old self 🙂

Dream10

We’re already retreating. You gotdamn cunts.

useroz

Contain Hazard, Willian and Jorg and our risk is cut in half.

OMG. Giroud could be coming on.

Leftsidesanch

We cant sit back we’re not solid enough to

Dissenter

LeMassiveCuq,
“I’m not suggesting hes the answer…but Koz has been more like his old self:”

That’s not a good thing because we all know he has whopper encoded in his DNA.

Marko

Why are those fucktards chanting for Giroud

TR7

Jorginho and Kovacic have decent technique but lack byte.

Dissenter

“We’re already retreating. You gotdamn cunts.”:

The first half’s pressing is unsustainable

Champagne charlie

Mcmanaman spot on for a change:

‘This work rate and pressing should be the norm for Arsenal’

Kay

bit OT chanting for Giroud there

Dissenter

No wonder Wenger stayed for so long.
We have a lot of thick fans, they forgot Giroud’s job is to score against Arsenal.

useroz

It’d appear the stamina and fitness would play a crucial part in the last 10, 20 min given the pace both teams go at each other.

Cesc Appeal

I do like CBs who celebrate a tackle like a goal

Kay

look at that wrestler haha

useroz

Can we clear the ball forward and not just high?? Too close to the box for comfort…

azed

We need to get a grip of the game.

bennydevito

Kozzer looking like he’s limping.

We need to sort out defending out – Wiilian getting far too much of the ball unmarked.

useroz

We need a third.

useroz

Kolac again. Again. Take the fucking shot.

When would u shoot if not when two nil up!!!

Kay

looks like iwobi and amn

azed

Why didn’t Kolasinac go for goal?

Cesc Appeal

Why does Kolasinac always refuse to have a go?

Dissenter

Bellerin is so freaking thick

Jamie

Kola should’ve smashed it.

azed

How did we miss that?

TR7

Now would be typical of Emery to take off the best player on the pitch – Laca

useroz

So so slow Bellerin had to have cross much earlier. Ramsey and Laca were there for tap in.

Denisk Birdkampf

Lacazette off?

azed

Offside though

Arsene's Nurse

Ramsey and Lacazette to be subbed?

Kay

should have scored

Samesong

Bell/end

Dissenter

Ouch to Koscielny there
Hit him square in the balls

Santino

Torreria not performing well these days. Overused??

Champagne charlie

Guendouzi struggling, Kos has been motm

Un na naai

Guendouzi broke with purpose then gave the ball away very cheaply. Youth I guess. He should have kept driving at them and waited for the movement off him

Dream10

Kolasinac is a cut back merchant. Hates to shoot

azed

Ouch!!!
I felt that for Koscielny.

Cesc Appeal

Giroud coming on, have to adapt now

TR7

Right on cue

Champagne charlie

Crowd not impressed with Laca always getting subbed

InsideRight

FFS. Will someone please tell Guen that when Gandalf bellowed, “You shall not pass” it wasn’t intended for him.

Jamie

Square in Kos’ cubes.

Cesc Appeal

That’s what these changes are about I think

Leftsidesanch

Must have hurt that one

Cesc Appeal

Not sure about the over the top cheering for Giroud

Leftsidesanch

Would have kept Laca on…

useroz

Laca and Ramsey off.

AMN and Iwobi on.

Lesser players tbh. But needs fresh legs in any case.

Giroud joins the party.

Oh shit. Bellerin in trouble.

Champagne charlie

Bellerin has fucked his ACL

azed

Oh boy!!!!

Kay

Laca understands though..

Leftsidesanch

All of a sudden the absence has made the heart grow fonder for Giroud. Cretins, he was derided as an Arsenal player by large sectiond of the fanbase.

Bob

emery is a negative mofo

Cesc Appeal

Of for fuck sake.

That looks like another ACL

azed

No Ozil today.

Cesc Appeal

That’s a seriously bad one.

Season over for Bellerin

useroz

Looks ligament damage. Oops. Cruciate would be a disaster for us.

Cesc Appeal

That is a big loss for us

Jamie

He’ll be out for the season. Fuck.

Champagne charlie

Nice touch to see the Spanish lads of Chelsea overseeing Hector. Season over looks like

Paulinho

Look like cruciate ligament.

azed

20 mins to hold on and I’m not confident of a win.

Cesc Appeal

Maitland Niles just doesn’t cut it at RB

Goonah

Damn. Bellerin has been very good this game. His best ever imo.

InsideRight

Oh no. Bellerin just can’t get any luck this season.

Bob

why not put ozil on

Sancho Monzorla

Looks a serious injury for Bellerin. Can only wish a fast and full recovery for the lad.

Cesc Appeal

Holding and Bellerin were having much improved seasons.

Fuck it.

useroz

Above and below knee all stapped. Looks bad.

Good luck Bellerin. Fashion show would stop for awhile…

InsideRight

Dick had better accelerate these magical loan deals and add a right sided defender to his list.

Paulinho

Bellerin probably one of our top four important players. Levels above the shite we have in reserve.

Need to buy someone.

Marko

Looks like a ruptured ligament that. Be out for a long time. Shame because Lichtsteiner should be nowhere near a football pitch

Radio Raheem

Your nanny on

Dissenter

Pedro has his standard “soft tissue” injury post ready to slam Emery.

Never mind that Bellerin is just returning back from injury and everyone knows the risk of injury is highest when a player is just returning back from a lengthy injury hiatus.

london gunner

One of our best players this season. AMN is a very below par option in that spot.

Carts

That knee look like it popped

My suspicion is a dislocation; it didnt seem like is hyperextended enough for it to be a full ACL or partial rupture

Could be wrong, though

Dissenter

Where’s Dick Law when you need him around.

useroz

We need mental strength now more than anyway.

20 more min boys.

Cesc Appeal

Lots of rumours we were watching Max Aarons for a summer move. Young RB.

Might be we move on that now? Although, I’m not sure at all.

Big loss.

Thomas

Bellerin is shit.

Danish Gooner

Bellerin done for the season.

Dream10

Disappointed for Hector. Him and Xhaka have been the most durable players the last three years.

wonder if Emery’s fitness regime has anything to do with the injuries. We were improving under Shad and Burgess.

Top 4 more difficult now. No Hector, Holding, Kos doesn’t look like he’ll last the season

Carts

Wouldn’t mind another goal to kill this off

Chelsea pulling one back would rattle us

useroz

Not sure Iwobi provides much defence compared to Ramsey.

Elnery is chasing everything which is good.

InsideRight

Bellerin hasn’t been the same since he went vegan.

Sancho Monzorla

Quality of team goes down quite a bit without Bellerin. More so than the rest of this match need to find a long term replacement.

Leftsidesanch

Need to replace in this window.

Bob

fuck all going upfront now

Marko

If he is out for 6 months they’ll have to go hat in hand to Stan because AMN and Lichtsteiner are not good enough RB options

Dissenter

Bellerin’s injury is obviously very bad for all concerned
However let’s not rewrite history, shall we.
He’s improved this season but has been poor for the preceding three seasons.

Carts

Tbf, to Emery, if Bellerin has joined Holding in the physio’s room, then I won’t be blaming Emery

Both players simply planted their feet awkwardly while in motion. Can happen to anyone.

Gazzap

Xhaka is annoyingly robust. Can’t remember him being injured. Probably because he jogs about. He’s still shit and gives away cheap fouls and cheap goals.

Thomas

Same thing every time. Someone gets injured and they’re the second coming of Messiah all the sudden. Rosicky, Ramsey, Wilshere, Diaby, Eduardo.

Ridiculous.

Hitman

Good point.
Vegan diet sure causes nutritional deficiency. Not good for a growing lad and sportsman. Or any human for that matter.

Sancho Monzorla

How do you end up giving away a corner there?

Dissenter

“wonder if Emery’s fitness regime has anything to do with the injuries. We were improving under Shad and Burgess.”

It didn’t take that long for the theorists to start their spinning.

Bob

ANM reminds me of justin hoyte

azed

10 mins to go.

We need to hold on for next 5 mins

Bob

worest 2nd half in history

1 3 4 5 6 7 10
