Fit people can’t game + Matty G styling tips + Emery on injuries

by .

Sometimes, people say to me, ‘Pedro, you have great sensibilities in understanding physiological circumstances when it comes to diagnosis of player ailments.’ Need proof? Well, BILD took the Le Grove commentary on Fortnite playing to the next level

“Yes, that can be the cause of Ozil’s back problems,”

“A competitive athlete feels the consequences of hours of inactivity much faster than a non-athlete.

“This is because Ozil’s physical structures are highly tuned due to his intense training.

“A non-athlete, however, does not notice that.”

So, if you’re a fat c*nt, excessive gaming is not an issue… but if you’re a highly-tune athlete, maybe. Rent-a-quote isn’t always the best place to get your information, but it has been interesting reading around about this issue. There have been issues in MLB over here, with one player having to miss a game because of carpal tunnel syndrome. It’s also notable that China is taking note of the issue, looking to crack down on tech firms that use ever-smarter ways to keep people hooked into their games.

What is astounding about this whole story is how the media works. What started out as a tongue in cheek joke is now being re-reported as Bild’s story on a Russian propaganda website. Unreal times we live in.

Anyway, a touch alarming the German is still out of action. Hopefully whatever the issue, it’s resolved in good time.

In other sadder news, Raheem Sterling was racially abused by a bunch of Stone Island thugs at the Chelsea game over the weekend. A lot of soul searching has to be done over this bullshit rearing its ugly head again. Sterling dug out the media for their part in this. That’s certainly true to a certain degree. But I think you also have to give some of the blame to politicians who’ve lost all sense of decorum and the corrosive nature of social media, giving rise to fringe idiots.

It’s incredible that in the space of a week, we’ve seen vile fan abuse at one of the biggest Premier League showcases in the world, and a banana thrown at an Arsenal player.

I don’t want to tell people what to do in the grounds, but if you’re there, and you hear someone shouting racist remarks, it’s up to you to speak up. Don’t giggle along. We’re all responsible for enabling that sort of bollocks. If you can get punched in the face for calling Arsene Wenger a balloon head, you should get an ear full for taking player abuse too far.

This is a photo of Matty G looking fine for Canal+. There was some debate had online about his choices, but for me, he’s looking exceptional here. The light pattern shows off a penchant for understated flair, I like the crisp white shirt and his decision not to wear a bow tie, and finally, I’m very much into the choice of what looks like a vintage Rolex.

The kid has it all.

Unai Emery has responded to concerns of the site over the growing injury list and whether his intense training methods are to blame.

“No. I don’t know if this is the reason. Big injuries like with Rob and Welbeck is…

“Then it is normal. We have played three matches.

“Mustafi is ok. It’s only because he is feeling muscular [that he came off], but [it’s] not a break.”

Weirdly, it’s great news that whatever happened to Mustafi is not that important. Hopefully, we’ll have a solid December and keep the injury issues down to a minimum. We don’t have a particularly deep squad and we really are going to need to lean into hard if we’re planning on competing with an extremely competitive top 6 this season.

I still can’t get over how good our start has been, and how poor our league position is. We’re 8 points off the top and unbeaten in 21 games. Staggering. If we’re thinking pragmatically, it’s going to still be extremely difficult for us to break the top 4 this season. Perhaps Europa is our best bet for getting back to the Champions League?

If we do get there, we’re going to have to spend big to improve the squad, because at the minute, we’re getting by on having a really easy Europa League group to play against. Getting back into the big time and having to play an elite 11 6 extra times before the December crunch is going to be tough to master after 2 seasons in the wilderness.

Right, that’s all I have for you beautiful festive people. See you in the comments.

Identify these So called Chelsea supporters and sentence them.?
Ban them from the club for life.?
Post their identities in the press putting their jobs at risk.?

And ask why they have done this when Chelsea have Black and Ethnic
    players of their own.
    Hypocrites of the highest order.

  2. Drey

Aaarrrgh!! I just listened Emery speak for the first time yesterday (When he was quizzed on why Ozil wasn’t starting vs Spurs), and I have to say that he better speed up on that English.. it was painful to hear. lol. But so long he keeps making us all happy who cares..

I can’t believe how many gilt-edge chances Auba has missed this season alone. I have gradually warmed up to him since he has improved his overall game the last 3 games but mans gotta stop missing those chances for crying out loud

  3. Graham62

    James Wood

    If life was that simple.

    Agree with you 100% though.

Educating them is a waste of time.

Just expose them and give them a criminal record (If they haven’t got one already).

    Scum of the highest order.

“We should really feel sorry for Pierre. He’s just some senile OC who likes Wenger because he can’t do his jacket up either. Euthanasia would be kinder.”

I would put that abuse on the same level that Raheem Sterling received at the weekend

  5. Guns of Hackney

“Stone island thug”. This did make me chuckle.

There are a few things that always miffed me about Stone Island.

    1. They are an Italian brand. I thought they would have been made in a garage in Hastings.
    2. They are really expensive but look like cheap bits of crap.
    3. People who go to football wear it.

The race thing is just a bit passé these days…also, doing it on camera is just plain dumb (hasn’t this guy heard of the anonymity of online abuse)?

    Race. Homophobia. Islamaphobia. Hay fever…meh.

  6. Left testicle

Sterling dug out the media for their part in this. That’s certainly true to a certain degree. But I think you also have to give some of the blame to politicians who’ve lost all sense of decorum and the corrosive nature of social media, giving rise to fringe idiots.
    ……………………
Why is there always somebody else to blame. They are adults. They made the choice to hurl abuse at Sterling. They are the ones to be held to account – not the media or politicians.

  7. Guns of Hackney

Oh and before everyone starts ragging on chelsea…I’ve been topside and clock end and heard all sorts of shit.

Wherever there is football, there will be violence and jerks mouthing off.

Football and it’s fans are the problem.

  8. Guns of Hackney

Oh and another thing…Arsenal fans calling spurs Yids. Plus the anti semetic shit probably everyone who has ever been to an arsenal game has shouted at spurs.

Do not take the moral high ground on Chelsea.

  9. Leftsidesanch

No one’s disputing those things Guns, they all happen. I’ve heard Arsenal fans say a tonne of things that they shouldn’t.

We’re talking about Saturday evening there, a group of idiots in the 1st row on a televised game are shouting abuse and one of them is so stupid he brings race into it. What’s Sterling’s race got to do with ANYTHING. Sterling runs like a little girl why not tease him about that. Even worse is there is a black man amongst them.

Scenes when the same yob who hurled that abuse at Sterling is probably there grabbing his “next door neighbour” and kissing him/getting over excited when Kante opens the scoring for them later in that half.

These are the same bunch of cretins who refused to let a Black commuter on the train in Paris while shouting “We’re racist, we’re racist, and that’s the way we like it.”

There are low lives in every fanbase in the the world but so what, it doesn’t mean that Chelsea fans shouldn’t be condemned when the shoe fits.

  10. Pete the First

    @Guns

‘Do not take the moral high ground on Chelsea.’

You must have been down the Bridge in the 80s? Remember the state of their fans marching up and down Seig Heiling on the Fulham Road? They deserve everything they get the knuckle draggers.

  11. Guns of Hackney

    Pete

Chelsea and palace. Palace had a massive NF base.

I’m not defending Chelsea, I am just saying that ALL fans of all clubs are 99% made up of vile, drunk and violent idiots.

Saying that Raheem runs like a girl is not very PC. You’ve basically had a go at his masculinity, dissed the femmes and runners all in one ugly internet post.

    Not good.

  13. Guns of Hackney

I didn’t need to look up the word…I used the time checking out BBW women on the internet.

…and researching racist jokes I’ll tell a bit later.

  14. Leftsidesanch

Watergun, I know your joking but such is the state of this overly sensitive universe that somebody probably would take offence to what I said.

P.S BBWs are for a real man 😉

  15. China1

This is the first season in PL history where 5 clubs have been achieving their potential (broadly speaking – and at least so far)

In every other season 2 of the top 6 will be complete wank. One or two will be meh and whoever is left wins the league impressively

This year is different tho. City are hands down the best team but you only get 3 points for smashing teams in style, the same as you get for solid or less than stellar wins – and the top 5 have all been very effective winning machines this season

People assuming city will win the league as well are rushing far too much. They have the best squad, manager, performances and all that – and they’re having a brilliant season – and they’re in second. There’s absolutely no reason that they can’t have more occasional slip ups along the way and if Liverpool or to a lesser extent Chelsea have a hulking season that could be how it goes

Honestly speaking it’s quite nice as a fan because I always want the league to be as strong as possible. Right now our 5th best team would probably be second in Serie A, top in the Bundesliga, second in France and top 3 in Spain. All that’s missing is Utd who could yet get a miracle or luck in the CL and go a bit further yet

Good times for English football my friends. And thank fuck for the great work from emery and our squad who are doing themselves proud

  16. Receding Hairline

“He’s 19 but he’s playing like he’s been there forever.

“Sometimes I’m watching him like I want to be against him because he p****s me off with the confidence he has.
“He’s so confident on the ball and he’s everywhere on the pitch. I’ve watched him. He’s in the box, running without a problem.

“You can be 19 and have the mentality and experience of a 24-year-old. Age doesn’t matter. He’s unbelievable.”

    Berbatov on Guendouzi

  17. Globalgunner

A racist is the dumbest kind of meathead. Basically he is thinks he is superior because of something he had no part in making: Being white. Is being white an achievement?. You should only really be proud of something that makes you stand out from the 95% of humanity.

  18. China1

    Re the iwobi debate

His form has dropped off after a very good start to the season

I’m not sure if this is just his ceiling we’re seeing or if emery can get more out of him – but what we’re seeing right now isn’t enough. We have a major lack of squad depth tho and until we buy an elite winger he absolutely should be in and around the first team as he offers something useful and different to what we have in terms of pace, running and work rate

My feeling is if he can’t improve, he’s ok as a squad player as I’m not aware of his wages being exceptional for his level. He’s also home grown and all that, so I wouldn’t be in a rush to sell him. But I do think we should be looking for a clear upgrade for the starting 11

  19. China1

Also if inter will offer 25m for ozil YES FUCKING PLEASE

That money basically buys you a torreira. Maybe for that money we can just clone torreira and play him at AM. Would be quality!

  20. China1

The Utd game was a huge moment for Guendouzi

He showed up and made a major difference to our game in the engine room of the team at Old Trafford. If he can play like this regularly then he is the absolute future alongside torreira

He needs to add consistency to his game and also cut the number of mistakes he makes but there has been some progress on this front.

I normally don’t hype young players too early and it is too early for him so far but the signs are there and I would absolutely love it if guendouzi builds and sustains what he’s started. Him and torreira as a midfield two could be the best value for money midfield in the league a year or two from now

  21. Guns of Hackney

Gued and Torrier, if we can hold on to them, will be the dominant middle two in the premier league for years.

We need a lot more like them to get this team into a winning team.

  22. China1

Well at least if we can’t hold on to either of them we should be able to make an insane profit on them

If torreira plays this way consistently for 18 months he will be a 100m player

Guen cost less than the change emery found down the sofa so as disappointing as it would be to lose him if he fulfills his potential, we’ll make an insane profit at least

  23. China1

I couldn’t catch the game on Saturday, I heard torreira, guen and xhaka all played. Can anyone tell me what shape we’re they in and to what extend did that work?

  24. Bamford10

If we can sell Ozil for £25m, we should do so. He doesn’t contribute enough and we’d gain not just the £25m but an additional £350k a week. That’s 3-4 good players’ salaries.

It does raise the question, though, of who our first-choice CAM is and who he would be if Ozil were sold.

  25. Leedsgunner

If Torreira’s form keeps up… Real Madrid and Barcelona will commence Operation “Tap up another Arsenal player.” They always do.

Hopefully next season we’ll be back in the CL so we can tell them where to go and how to get there.

  26. Bamford10

    China

In the first half we played a 3-5-2 with those three as the three CMs. Xhaka was the one holding/deep-lying CM with both Torreira and Guendouzi in front of him. Aubameyang and Lacazette played more or less a flat two up top. This didn’t work all that well on the attacking side of things as we didn’t really have a proper CAM to find Auba or Laca’s feet or to find them in space.

At halftime Emery switched to 4-3-2-1, brought in Mkhitaryan and Iwobi to play underneath Aubameyang and left the three CMs as they were. This worked better than the first half set-up.

  27. China1

Regarding iwobi’s ceiling I think we can conclude this one way or the other at the end of the season

He’s gonna get a lot of chances to play before then and plenty of time with emery. If there’s no real improvement then that’s probably that. He might surprise us tho. I hope so

  28. Emiratesstroller

    GOH

Don’t infer that Arsenal is an antisemitic club as you posted above.

There are plenty of Jewish Supporters at the club and more importantly both
Danny Fiszman and David Dein two of the club’s most influential directors in the past were Jewish.

Spurs have been tarred with the same brush as Ajax in Holland as a Jewish Club, but in reality both clubs Jewish support is very much a minority.

  29. Bamford10

    China

Further, I think most would say that all three CMs played fairly well in their assigned roles. Many would likely single out Torreira for special praise. I would agree with all of that except that I would add that none of these three offered what a CAM type player offers and that if we’re going to play with three CMs, one should be more of a CAM type. IMO.

  30. HighburyLegend

“If Torreira’s form keeps up… Real Madrid and Barcelona will commence Operation ”

Let’s hire an hypnotiseur to convince them to buy Ozil instead.

  31. Bamford10

    China

I think they formed a solid midfield three, but as I say above, we lacked a CAM type player and that hindered us a little, IMO.

This problem was solved in the second half somewhat by deploying Iwobi and Mkhitaryan in advanced roles underneath Aubameyang, but I don’t know if that is the optimal solution.

Someone here complained after the game that it makes no sense to play “three holding mids” in the center and I think that I basically agree with that, though I think Emery was doing this somewhat out of necessity and somewhat to see how Guendouzi and Torreira would fare in more advanced positions.

  32. Graham62

Too many racists and bigots in this world.

Education has little or no effect on these people. Punishment to the highest level does.

As for Football, the FA/ UEFA/ FIFA/ CLUBS should all be held accountable in this.

Penalize clubs/countries/teams for persistent racist abuse.

Money talks, as we all well know(how do you think Russia hosted the WC) but how can so many of the Eastern block countries continue to get away with things? The only solution is to ban them from competing.

Those guys at Chelski should be named and shamed. Ouch!, I forgot, they have their Human Rights.

    Poppycock!

  33. Emiratesstroller

    Bamford 10

That was a fair summary of the situation on Saturday. Lacazette spent a lot of
the first half tracking back, because of lack of service and both Bellerin and
Kolasinac did not spend much time in first half in the Huddersfield end of the
    pitch.

My personal view despite all the usual negatives from posters is that Ozil does
make a difference when he plays and provides the best service to our forwards.

Ramsey can of course play the AMF role, and frankly I am surprised that the
club and Emery have chosen to let him go because he offers the level of
intensity that the Head Coach wants albeit not offering the technical ability of
    Ozil.

Mkhitaryan is for me a very average player and rates in my book as nothing
more than a member of squad to sit on bench.

  34. useroz

Let’s judge by half time when all done the 19 games. Could easily be top4…

Shows how important to beat the ‘lesser’ (not bottom) teams. Our little dip dropped 4 points. Imagine…. 4 pts from top!

Would Torreira not fetch 50m, Matty G 30m in the buoyant PL market? That’s 40m+ in 6mo!

Buy smart and we are set.

Without overstating it, the Jan TW is so very important for AFC due to state of our revival.

Time for the new management TEAM to earn their bonuses….

    Mustafi ok is good news.

  35. gambon

“A racist is the dumbest kind of meathead. Basically he is thinks he is superior because of something he had no part in making: Being white”

    Or being any other colour.

  36. Pedro

Graham, I think they’ve been shamed for sure… but, really depends on what they do.

Unless they work in banks, there’s likely no consequence.

  37. Nelson

I find that Auba is most dangerous when playing with winger or wing back. That’s why he wishes Arsenal to get him Ousmane Dembele. He is not someone who likes to interplay with a #10. Up to now, our best attacking plays came from the wing backs. I am sure that Auba will find his form and finish up those crosses. I think we should continue to attack though the wing and forget about through the middle.

  38. gambon

£25m for Ozil would be mental.

    Don’t believe it though.

No doubt the club are looking at if they have any options at all to get rid.

Think it may be a case of offering him a free transfer in the summer.

  39. Leftsidesanch

I saw an article yesterday I think saying that Emery doesn’t fancy Ozil or something to that effect so it wouldn’t surprise me if these murmurs are true.

  40. Pedro

£25m would be mental because he was publicly very much available for 18 months on a smaller deal and no one wanted him

  41. gonsterous

    guns

Gued and Torrier, if we can hold on to them, will be the dominant middle two in the premier league for years.

if we can find a MF with creativity, ala cazorla but at the right age, we could have our mid three for years to come. But torr and gwen for me do not have that creative side to them.

  42. Guns of Hackney

What’s got two wings and 22 legs?

    A Chinese football team.

She’s got more chins than a Chinese phone book.

    I did a xenophobia.

  43. Guns of Hackney

    Gons

    Agreed and it ain’t Xhaka.

If we can raise some money from Iwobi, Ramsay and Welbeck…I’d go in for Saha or take a punt in Holland. Things are looking brighter again in the Netherlands for talent.

  44. Rambo Ramsey

Considering this is Emery and Sarri’s first season in England, the next season is gonna be even more competitive.

Ridiculous how hard the PL has become.

  45. Marko

Oh and another thing…Arsenal fans calling spurs Yids. Plus the anti semetic shit probably everyone who has ever been to an arsenal game has shouted at spurs. Do not take the moral high ground on Chelsea.

Known racist wants people to go easy on known racist football club (supporters at least). Hardly shocking is it

  46. azed

“I do not think Emery can get much more out of Iwobi, i can now see what Bamford is saying, he just lacks quality and you cannot teach that”

I doubt if anyone here has thought of Iwobi as anything more than a squad player. Sometimes, you need the Fletchers and Parks in your team to win you trophies.

That is what Iwobi should be: a squad player who gets the odd start against bottom teams during periods like this when the games come thick and fast.

  47. Guns of Hackney

    Marko

    Stop.

No one except my klan members know me as a racist…unless you are in the klan, too?

But then again, we all wear pointy pillow cases over our heads so it could be anyone under there.

    Silly Marko.

  48. Receding Hairline

    @Azed

I watched the game in a bar here in Benin Nigeria, of course when the game started most people were cursing Emery for not starting Iwobi, being Nigerian and all and they would love to see him do well.

When he finally came on, after a few minutes i asked them what impact he was making, some of them admitted the guy just wasn’t that good, it was a tough admission but you cannot escape what’s before your eyes, if we really aspire to be a top European team i don’t even think Iwobi should be in our squad, he gives you hard work and running but where is the end product??

  49. Mysticleaves

“Saying that Raheem runs like a girl is not very PC. You’ve basically had a go at his masculinity, dissed the femmes and runners all in one ugly internet post.”

    Owned.

Really racism is bad in all forms and shouldn’t be condoned esp in this PC mad world. Buy so too should posts like this one quoted and the one Pierre quoted at the beginning of the post.

Imagine calling someone a ‘senile old cunt’ for having a differing view to yours? More mental than getting 25m for Ozil.

  50. Guns of Hackney

Iwobi has the attributes but not the talent.

He’s had a few years under Arsene and half a season under Emery…apart from a couple of flashes, he’s the same player.

A body in the squad but not a starter at all.

Where’s a Kanu when you need him? There would be our creator right there.

  51. Guns of Hackney

Senile old cunt was the go-to discription for Arsene on here for about six years!

Let’s just abbreviate it to SOC and leave it there.

  52. Leftsidesanch

Calling someone a SOC, (at work can’t type all that lol) is far different to using racial slurs against somebody.

  53. Mysticleaves

The mistakes iwobi made in the last match were all bad touches or poor control. There was also an unwillingness to take people on unlike before. This depicts low confidence and nothing more. Agreed he’s going through a bad spell the last 3 games but he definitely has talent. This is not his ceiling at all.

Depending on his environment moving forward we could see that player. Some players are just confidence players.

  54. azed

    RH

You cannot have a squad full of world class players. You need a mixture of technical players and hard workers.
I used Darren Fletcher and Ji Sun Park as examples because they were not the best players technically but they did the job for Fergie.

Mesut Ozil is far better than Iwobi comparing them is an insult but Unai for now prefers Iwobi to Ozil even though Iwobi has no end product.

Everyone who has praised Iwobi on this site has said he’s nothing better than a squad player and when you go through our squad, its cheaper to keep Iwobi than to keep Mkhitaryan or Ozil.

Getting a winger and an attacking midfielder relegates Iwobi and Mkhi to the bench but one earns about 50k while the other earns 150k.

  55. Mysticleaves

“Calling someone a SOC, (at work can’t type all that lol) is far different to using racial slurs against somebody.”

Care to explain how. Cos I would be madder if you called me a senile old cunt while I am offering my POV.

  56. Guns of Hackney

What about senile old bugger? Is it the c word that makes it so awful?

I think tomorrow’s post should all be abbreviated.

  57. Receding Hairline

You cannot have a squad full of world class players. You need a mixture of technical players and hard workers.
I used Darren Fletcher and Ji Sun Park as examples because they were not the best players technically but they did the job for Fergie.

I think you are doing Ji Sung Park a disservice, he was a very good player, yes he worked hard but there was more to him than that.

I am actually kind of mad at Iwobi, he has been given a great chance by this manager and he is not really using it. Emery has said on more than one occasion he needs Iwobi to score goals, put himself in positions to score, he is not even pretending to do that

  58. Leftsidesanch

    Mystic,

It would be an unwarranted attack on you, but it’s just offensive words. It says more about the person saying it than it does you. Now if I’m having a “reasonable” conflict of opinions with someone and they decide to call me a black so and so – that is more personal to me. What does my colour have to do with anything?

Senile is harsh/shouldn’t be tolerated, but they’re alluding that in old age your mental faculties have deserted you but how can you insult somebody because of their skin tone?

I’m not saying one’s okay and the other isn’t by the way. I just know which one would cause more offence to me.

  59. azed

“Emery has said on more than one occasion he needs Iwobi to score goals, put himself in positions to score, he is not even pretending to do that”

Iwobi thinks he has made it. The earlier praise he got in the season has gotten into his head so he’s trying to do more than his ability.

I hope two players are bought in January (Winger and CAM) so Iwobi doesn’t make the match day squad anymore.

  60. Mysticleaves

I think it’s imperative that we get a lateral, on-the-ball player. Some with the attributes of KDB or Almiron. Capable of running the ge and creating through the middle. Basically a central winger if you like. That’s what this team is lacking.

We already have 3 very good deep lying playmakers in the squad. If we are going to get an extra CM, they have to be attacking and lateral. Also get that winger. Right now I can’t look past Pepe.

  61. Nelson

A lot of people are saying that we are wining without playing good football. I have come to realize that this is the type of football that Emery wants. He prefers hardworking players than skill players (Our financial constraint would allow us to sign superstars). Iwobi is Emery’s type player. Until we can get into the champion league and can compete in the transfer market, our hope will be on the scouts to pick out players that suit Emery’s style of football. Wenger ball is gone forever.

  62. Leftsidesanch

and saying Sterling runs like a little girl (which was light hearted) for anyone who feels offended by that needs to get a life. Sterling has brought it up himself/joked about it on various occasions, been teased about it on various occasions and hasn’t taken it serious. Why, because it’s a joke. It’s not intended to harm, its just cross talk and nothing more.

  63. Leftsidesanch

My problem with Iwobi is that when he gets into good positions, he rarely tries to take decisive action. He mostly goes for the option that makes the least sense.

  64. Joe

Everyone saying we need squad players. Look at Ferris’s united

    His players were useful.

Iwobi is useless. No point in having squad players that make no impact just because they are “cheap” and ok sitting on the bench

    Ridiculous

“I’m not saying one’s okay and the other isn’t by the way. I just know which one would cause more offence to me.”

You have said it all. The ones I didn’t quote made sense too.

  66. Leftsidesanch

I don’t need Iwobi to be running all the time and work hard, I need my electricity to do that. Iwobi is in an area of the field where his contribution is left wanting. This is why people are so critical of him.

  67. Dream10

    Receding Hairline

Iwobi’s best spell for Arsenal came as a link between CM and the final third in the first half of 16-17. Keeps things ticking along. Don’t think he’ll be a player who ever produces high end product. We were a more technical team then. Don’t think he suits the way Emery wants to play.

He can be a rotational player with us for a year or two more. Long term, best he find himself a manager who suits his style of play.

  68. Mysticleaves

“Emery has said on more than one occasion he needs Iwobi to score goals, put himself in positions to score, he is not even pretending to do that”

Then he should deploy him further towards goal and relieve him of some defensive work. Our play basically goes through the wing backs and Iwobi is playing the hybrid role all on instructions from Emery.

He’s not perfect at all. Infact not even close but he will improve. He has 4/5 assists by the way

  69. Rambo Ramsey

    Left Testicle,

Your moniker is offensive to Right testicle.
These the times of equal representation bruh, sort it out.

  70. Mysticleaves

    Leftside

Sterling has probably also reminded himself countless times that he’s black. So that shouldn’t hurt too no?

  71. Leftsidesanch

Mystic, I don’t know what to say to you at this point. Teasing someone about their running style is jesting, it’s almost futile. He can’t change it and it’s not a big deal.

Going to take a corner and being called a black so and so – is a big deal. I’m not offended by someone calling me the C word but for anyone who is, cool. We’re all different. I’m not even offended the few times I have been racially abused but I find that one more offensive. Again, cool. We’ll leave there.

  72. Mark

” Arsenal fans have been quick to rally behind their team, however, and at Saturday’s match a group in the north bank clearly decided to poke some fun at the incident, by releasing a bunch of balloons into the air during the first half. ”

    BRILLIANT!!!
Not sure if it was mentioned already, but copied the above from a report on the web.

  73. Receding Hairline

He can be a rotational player with us for a year or two more. Long term, best he find himself a manager who suits his style of play.

What is his style of play??

Iwobi is no where good enough to be our central attacking midfielder

He plays from the wing with overlapping full backs hence can’t score?? Guess no one told Sterling and Mahrez that.

I am tired of all this Iwobi excuses, he started the season reasonably well yet cannot even sustain that form over a period of time, tells you all you need to know.

  74. Receding Hairline

Then he should deploy him further towards goal and relieve him of some defensive work

We will never be a defensively sound team if we keep relieving every man and his dog of defensive work, i have not even seen Iwobi putting in any form of defensive work to begin with, if he was we would not have conceded from Herrera pull back at United.

No one is asking him to play as a full back either, he is asked to press from the front, Son, Sterling, Mahrez do it with ease and still score goals

  75. Mysticleaves

Mahrez has played like 8 years or more as a senior pro. Sterling has like 5 years. They are all light years ahead of Iwobi in education (and quality by the way). They didnt start scoring immediately too. Had to tweak their game with a manager who understood their style. Basically what dream was saying

  76. Dissenter

There are too many Xhaknophobes around here.
We successfully mounted a successful civil rights defense…now they have turned their ire on Iwobi.
Le-grove just has to set up a player as pinata. It makes things more fun.

  77. Mysticleaves

“i have not even seen Iwobi putting in any form of defensive work to begin with, ”

Really? It’s ok. This football thing, many people understand it differently. So I better rest my case.

  78. Mysticleaves

Marko, are you short? Growing up we were told a lot of short people just wound up angry at everyone for no reason.

  79. Receding Hairline

    Suit yourself

I am a Nigerian so i for one would love Iwobi to succeed, frankly he is letting down himself , the manager and those that want him to do well

Talking about how young he is is actually a very poor defense by the way

  80. Dissenter

    Mystic
Why waste your time arguing that Iwobi has not hit his ceiling?
The charge itself is based on a spurious framework to begin with and you cannot debunk it unless you have a crystal ball to gaze into the future.
If he succeeds, then he succeeds…if he doesn’t then so be it. He’s a low wage earner.

For starters he won’t get mega wage increases like we used to give Wenger’s babies like Theo.
    Only time will tell.

  81. Mysticleaves

Dissenter, succinctly put. Have already rested the case. I hope he confirms my views about him though. For the good of Arsenal and Nigeria.

Stop trying to validate your Iwobi criticism with your nationality.
Your criticism doesn’t carry any more weight than a gooner from Ulaanbaatar or Kalamazoo.

How do you know what Iwobi’s ceiling is?
    You be babalawo?

  83. Marko

Marko, are you short? Growing up we were told a lot of short people just wound up angry at everyone for no reason.

6ft baby. Tell me are you stupid? I heard growing up stupid people say dumb things all the time

  84. Receding Hairline

How do you know what Iwobi’s ceiling is?

I have never used the word ceiling on here as i consider it a ridiculous term when it comes to gauging a footballers ability, i have simply pointed out the player does not actually have that much ability to begin with

  85. Receding Hairline

Stop trying to validate your Iwobi criticism with your nationality.

And no it’s not a validation, you have been here long enough to know i don’t necessarily care if anyone one agrees with me

Many have been accused here of supporting Iwobi simply because he is Nigerian, so there is that ..

Babalawo’s don’t actually see the future mind you

  86. Guns of Hackney

We landed on LV426 where we found loads of eggs…they turned out to be Özil’s spare eyes.

    That’s fucking eyeist.

  87. vickingz

Seems we have many Nigerians here than I thought. That’s good to know and with respect to iwobi’s case, he’s not just good enough but also a lazy player who despite his young age can’t play for 90 minutes. He sees balls and start shaking like someone who doesn’t even know what to do with the ball. He’s just a lazy player.

Where in Nigeria are y’all. I’m presently in kaduna state

  88. gambon

To anyone whos been on this site long term, what we are going through with Iwobi has been seen before.

We had it with Walcott, we had it with CHamberlain, we had it with Vela, we had it with Bendtner, we had it with Denilson, we had it with Diaby, we had it with Song, we had it with Jay fucking Emmanuel Thomas, we had it with Emmanual Frimpong, we had it with Quincy.

People are incapable of being objective, and end up so sentimentally attached to players that they cant see thing properly.

Iwobi is an absolute nothing player. Doesnt do anything well, and will be playing at West Ham in 3 years.

Then all those agenda driven posters that are backing him will pretend they never rated him.

  89. Leftsidesanch

Frimpong is prob the worst of them all, isn’t he like 26/27. I’m sure the last I read he isn’t even playing football.

  90. Jamie

Frimpong was an absolute horror show. Didn’t he pick up a straight red on his first senior start? Hope his ‘dench’ trademark is paying the bills.

  91. Marko

Had it with Reine Adelaide too. Had a cameo appearence and was called the Jeff ever since. Didn’t make it all the same

  92. Receding Hairline

Had it with Reine Adelaide too. Had a cameo appearence and was called the Jeff ever since. Didn’t make it all the same

Yet he actually has more ability than Iwobi, Iwobi works harder i will give him that. I have nothing against the kid, i just feel he is not good enough for a side that wants to be one of the best around

  93. gambon

Yeah, Reine Adeleide was apparently going to be world class, and deserved his chance in the first team because of one single bit of skill in a pre season game.

15 games into his post Arsenal career at Angers and he has 1 assist, zero goals.

  94. BacaryisGod

Let’s quickly kill this nonsense about Iwobi being a lazy player. He’s one of the hardest working players on the team.

His biggest problem is his decision-making with his finishing running a close 2nd. But he can make great passes-his reverse pass to set Kolasinac free against Huddersfield was a good example.

He runs at players well. Opponents don’t like it and it frees up space for his teammates. Until we can find a couple of players that can run at opponents but can deliver a final ball and finish, then we keep him. Reid’s Nelson is looking like one of those players but he may not yet have Iwobi’s defensive discipline.

I’m more concerned about Mkhitaryan’d form. Just as wasteful as Iwobi but can’t even go past opponents.

PS. Pedro-you broke into the U.S! (Well, technically Yahoo U.K but it is also on their U.S website). Also, no credit for Le Grove as only Bild is mentioned. The best part is that the German medical expert is now ‘anonymous’…anyway, somehow you boosted this left-field theory across Europe, North America and Asia.

  95. BacaryisGod

If we’ve learned anything from this past summer, it’s that the papers don’t know anything about incoming players. Look for any mention of Torreira and Guendouzi being targets significantly ahead of when we signed them. Don’t think you’ll find them..
