Kind of tough to read, he’s been an excellent servant to us, won 3 FA Cups, broke his leg and came back from hell… the fans love him. He’s one of our own, and it’ll be quite sad to see him exit.
I think the move is quite shocking, because we’ve been dicked around by players for the best part of 20 years. It feels alien that the board would initiate such an aggressive retraction. However, you can see why. Ozil bent us over the barrel with his outrageous deal, but at the very least, he has a commercial value. He’s the face of Adidas, he has sycophantic fanboy son all continents and he’s a world class player.
Aaron on the other hand is much admired, but he’s not kicked his game up to mega money levels. If you’re looking at this rationally, you have to look at the Welshman’s output and what £300k a week would mean for Emery’s ability to make big moves this summer.
How big has the impact been from Torreira? Massive. He’s earning no more than £65k a week. How much potential do we have in Matteo G? Unreal amounts. What’s he going to be earning, £40k a week. Then you have Ramsey, who can’t seem to operate with Ozil or Mikhi, hasn’t been able to cement a preferred positon at 28, and has suspect fitness… and he’s demanding 4.6x Torriera… I mean, that’s fucking insane.
I think the deal was pulled for a number of reasons. Firstly, Emery realised pretty quickly that Aaron at #10 was never going to be as sublime as Ozil. Then he probably noted that to be truly effective, you have to give him a free role… but he’s not really good enough to be afforded that sort of luxury. Emery needs cogs that work in his machine. Wenger had a crack at making art, but it eventually crashed us in also-rans.
The Aaron Ramsey debacle is what happens when you buy pieces without a grand vision. That’s why our squad is still in a mess. There was never a plan. Bottle them up, shake, pray for the best was the strategy and it just stopped working in the end. Sven, Raul and Emery now have to unpick the mess, and they’re going to struggle to do that with £600k worth of talent that can’t play together.
Ramsey was the sacrificial lamb. It’s cost him a fortune, and no doubt it’s set us back £50m in transfer fees.
But the show goes on… sport is ruthless, but it’s hard to feel too much for a man who makes more in a week than most do in a year. He’ll be ok, probably end up at United or Chelsea, and he’ll have a good close to his career.
At least he’s not going to Spurs.

He liked the club because of its tradition and the way business was conducted, but sadly did not realise for far too long that Wenger upon whom he relied was ‘past his sell by date’ and made far too many poor judgments. His agent is only projecting what the client wants and besides players seek counsel from multiple sources; his spouse, family, friends and colleagues.
I actually think the agent has done very well for him…if his stated a goal is to make as much money as possible.
The agent had confounded and befuddled the Arsenal team. He’s lulled them into not selling Ramsey and he will leave on a lucrative Bosman deal.

Would be a massive mistake for Arsenal to do an about turn on ramsey in that it could have an effect on team spirit if he is brought back into the side in place of a centre mid or CAM.
He will do a job in the 2nd string in the Europa or league cup or as a impact sub in the league but it will be a poor decision to retain his services….I just can’t see it happening.

You get the feeling that Mislintat, Sanllehi and Vinkatesham are all very switched on people and I like this division at the top now between Vinkatesham who is basically doing what Gazidis in terms of financials and then Sanllehi whose whole input is on field strategy and acting like a DoF. Ramsey isn’t going to “jump” to leave Arsenal.
He’s been an Arsenal player all his adult life so it’s going be very difficult. Looking at him from afar, it’s seems he’s a level headed professional who understands the way the system works. This is just part of the game.
He’s will get major transfer sign-on bonus(10-20 million) and settle into a 175k-200k weekly wage anywhere he goes.
His agent has made a name for himself based in how he ran rings around Arsenal to get his client a Bosman move without acrimony.

Looks like Xhaka is playing LB again. Iwobi, Auba and Laca up top. Guen, Torreira and Ozil in the center.
Leno starts Xhaka at LB presumably and Iwobi starts in what is hopefully more of a 4-2-2-2 than a 4-2-3-1. Or if it is a 4-2-3-1 then it’s more Lacazette on the right than Aubameyang on the left. Good looking team though. Will probably be the team that plays Liverpool next week

Emery can’t allow not to start Auba in three EPL games in a row can he? Especially after Auba has scored 4 goals in his 2 sub apps. Maybe he should’ve played Welbeck instead. The Englishman and Iwobi had some great combinations vs Fulham and they also tired their defenders to a point where the second half was not a contest anymore. Looked like a good strategy to have the explosive Auba come in as a sub. Let’s see how this game will shape up with their roles reversed.

There’s serious cons about having him play LB especially against someone like Salah but I can also see the benefit in him being slow to get around the pitch as a good thing when he plays LB because he’s less likely to be caught up field running back. still a worry though and they’ll target him but let’s be honest here even if he was playing midfield he’d still be targeted

To win the PL or CL with a club operating under a strict, self sustainable model is possible, but very very difficult.

Kolasinac has been as bad of a signing as Andre Santos. They even looked similar type of players but we didn’t learn our lesson yet again. He was an absolute dynamite in attack when he got introduced to the team but slowly got exposed for his slow reactions and bad defensive skills. One point about how high our fullbacks push up these days. I agree that this can make us a little vulnerable, but it’s important to note that they do this on Emery’s instructions, not on their own whim. This isn’t Wenger, where everyone plays as he feels.

Goes to show, these things don’t really matter when looking at a players ability. How many times was iniesta left out of team of the season ? Yet I have always rated him as one of the best midfielders of this generation.
