Well good morning, I’ve had a wonderful time with a lot of WordPress fuckery, so if you notice anything odd, outside my opinions, please e-mail in and let me know. ALSO, if there are any WordPress experts out there, I am thinking about redesigning the website. It’s really sloppy I haven’t in so long. Drop me a note if you’re interested.

What a fucking awful thing to say. I’m not fan of Mesut these days, but saying he said Mesut was shit because he wanted to divert the conversation from something important, like racism in sport, is heavily Trumpian. Would he have said it pre-2016, probably not. But society has now fully regressed to the good old days of saying what you want and no one really giving a fuck is the thing.
I know what some of you are thinking, ‘Pete is just so fucking woke he’s not slept for 4 days.’ Come on… this isn’t arguing the merits of gender neutrality in everyday discourse. This is a furious old man unwilling to discuss legitimate causes that impact people on a daily basis.
Can’t he just stfu and talk about how he’s going to sign Arsene Wenger to replace Niko Kovač. I made a joke about it yesterday, but there are rumours floating that an announcement is coming. 6th in the table with that squad is shocking even if you are only 7 games in, but Arsene Wenger to the rescue? It’s f*cking banter. Mind you, not as banterful as Madrid signing Lopetegui when Sam Allardyce was available.
I’ll tell you who is a decent chap, Unai Emery. He was asked about the now infamous chant at Fulham.

“I think we need to improve a lot. I think we have to continue doing a lot of the things to get better.
“Our demands need to be very high. The supporters can enjoy it with us but also we’re speaking with our reality every day. We need to improve because for example the match against Fulham was a very good result and a very good game for 90 minutes, but in the first 45 minutes I thought we needed to do better.”
Now, firstly, I think it’s great that Emery doesn’t think Arsenal are back. Ballague reckons the coaching staff is attributing a lot of our success down to great keeping from Cech, and I know the backroom team is under no illusions that top 4 is going to be easy this season. We’re riding a wave, the hope is that things start to click and we can ride it some more.
Where I think the coach is struggling a bit is that he doesn’t quite understand the chant. The fans weren’t singing ‘we think we’re title contenders’, I think they were singing that they felt the club had been restored to something that was recognisable as a sporting entity on and off the pitch.
Arsenal stopped being Arsene FC this year. The club is now being run to win. The fans can all see that huge strides are being taken all over the place to make sure we’re in a constant cycle of betterment.
We’re a long way off, but at least now, for every mistake that happens, there will be a consequence. If a player is out of form, he’ll not play. If we have a player that doesn’t perform consistently, they won’t be given a new deal and they’ll be sold. If there are clear gaps in the squad, they’ll be filled within 10 years. If we have fitness issues, there will be a real investigation. There will be no rebranding of failure. Forget your Top 4 trophy and the pathetic projects used to deflect from the club lacking ambition. We’re trying to be a real power player.
That’s what having your Arsenal back is. Knowing the club care as much about future success as you do.
Well, those are my two pennies anyway, if you don’t like it, you’re not shit, but you’re certainly crap.
Back to Emery, he’s focused on making sure we play better than we did against Watford.

Harry Mcguire at the back post is a big worry, no doubt. Outside that, they’re just a really solid team that’s organized and capable of an upset. We have to be on our game. I’m hoping the extra few days training might give us an edge.
Questions will still buzz over whether Ramsey will start, the manager giving nothing away.
“I want his performance like the other players,”
“For example, in the last match he started on the bench, then he played 25 minutes with this performance. On Monday it’s the same if he starts in the first XI or on the bench, to come with the focus for this match to help. It’s not different [than it is] for other players.”
It’s a bit of nonsense that we’ve got to play the following Thursday in Europa. Sporting are currently 5th. Regardless, that’ll be a tough game away from home after the international break. No doubt there will be some strong rotation in order.

Just to get a perspective on just how bad last season was if we win 13 more games, draw 6 and lose 11 more we’d equal last season’s points total. On top of that we should have got at least a draw against Chelsea.

Leicester city. A good ,well balanced team with some class players in the side ..if they get their act together I can see them challenging for the top 6 this season. Good keeper,a couple of quality defenders,maddison as the CAM looks a very tidy player and vardy up too plus a decent wide players and they play decent football..could cause us problems. You can’t be complacent in any PL match but Leicester have won 4 and lost 4 so far this season including 3 of their last 5. The teams they’ve beaten are Huddersfield (relegation fodder) Newcastle (probable relegation fodder), Southampton (will most likely be in a relegation battle for 95% of the season) and Wolves (doing very well for a promoted team).
As long as we are focused we’ll do fine on Monday night.

I’d like to see us start looking at the Liverpool match – for that Xhaka cannot start he’ll be destroyed by their pressing. So do we start Ramsey in MF, stick in Guendozi or chuck AMN in if he’s ready? For Liverpool I’d also have Mikki in the 10 and play Welbeck or Iwobi wide. AC Milan are most likely going to terminate his loan, even if it means they forfeit the loan fee [which Chelsea are insisting on.
Xhaka will most likely boss the Milan midfield, were he there now.
Agree CA, don’t want to see Ozil and Ramsey starting. The way we played against Fulham has to be the blueprint, movement, work rate and superb finishing.
Issue for Monday is the fact that we haven’t played for a couple of weeks and some of our players have some serious air miles. Having said that as long as Torreira is available I’m pretty confident.

I actually agree that Xhaka would do well in Italy – it’s a much slower league which would suit him but against Liverpool he will be a serious liability.
I’m torn between him being responsible for a goal or being responsible for a goal and then getting a red card. Guy’s not cut out for the PL.

If anyone’s got half an hour to spare at 10.30 Gary Neville’s Soccerbox has Wright on it. Watched it a couple of weeks ago and it’s well worth 30 minutes.
Impact sub… maybe. The problem with Rambo is that he is too selfish. Yes he can do well but he can also be a hindrance. He is not like Giroud who had the instinct to go for the goal. Not to mention that Giroud had the ST skill set required for such an impact.
I think we do miss Giroud in such instances.

I’ve said before it’s not so much we have a bad squad as we have an unbalanced squad. That will change over the next 2 – 3 transfer windows in the meantime we have to use the players we have to get the best fit for each game and try to keep certain players interested enough to perform when necessary / be able to unload.
Not sure how we do that with Ozil in the current set up!

I would be happy to be proven wrong. But I just don’t feel that he is even capable of that. What we saw vs Fulham was the exception more than the norm. When you think of it his Hollywood moments don’t happen that often.

I love the fact that football can provoke a discussion over whether Welbeck should be picked over Aubameyang. There is definitely an argument that Welbeck works better for the team and PEA is a serious sub. Don’t know Leicester well enough to make the call.

Fulham was the first game where we saw something close to a balanced side and you think to yourself if you improved on the quality of Iwobi, Welbeck and Xhaka in that set up with buys you could really be on to something. I’m willing to give Iwobi a bit of time under Emery. It’s not his fault his education in football suddenly went to “just express yourself”.
If he hasn’t shown positive signs later in the season then fine we need to reassess but we should give some of the younger players a chance.

Feels good to know that players are now being challenged to show what they have in their locker and show that they can improve. The tools are there. It is all just down to him to get his head down and work his socks off.

Monday games are dumb. Mostly because I can’t see them because I’m at work and don’t have the discipline to not check the score and wait to watch on dvr. The Thursday away turnaround is downright irresponsible though.

What is Unai Emery like? His English is not perfect yet, but he seems like a very focused man, someone who is obsessed with football, somebody who has a lot of respect from his players.
