8 in row!

The show DOES go on. Unai Emery racked up an impressive 8 wins on the bounce, the first time we’ve rocked that many since 2015. That year we finished 2nd to the mighty Leicester and won an FA Cup. I’d take that this season.

So what did we learn?

Well, we’re good at beating shit teams. The Europa League is our level currently, and we’re very good when we get to strut out stuff on trendy Thursday nights. Emery is still trying to work through style challenges, this competition gives the players on the fringe the chance to click with his system.

Guendouzi was impressive, scoring the third goal from a low dragged shot from the edge of the box. His range of passing is impressive and against weaker opposition, you could really see the sort of player he could become.

Smith Rowe took a while to settle into the game, but again, you can see where his career is heading if he keeps his focus. His power is immense for someone of 19 and he’s already scoring. His goal from a well-timed Iwobi pass was clinical.

Iwobi, player of the season so far (I jest, kind of), put in another great performance. He’s very much focused on an end product this year and he’s using his brain to open up space with clever runs into space.

I also thought Kolasinac as a left wing-back was impressive. He dropped some outrageous skills, always looking to be found out wide, making some incisive passes.

The win was fairly straightforward, but let’s be honest, simple games in Europe have been anything but under Arsene Wenger.

Overall, the team still needs a lot of work if it’s going to push for top 4, but as plenty have said in the comments, if the club can make CL through the back door, who wouldn’t take it? It’ll give us the money to hire in better talent.

All eyes on the next game that sees us heading for a Sunday matchup against Fulham.

Can Emery see in the big 9? We’ll see… onwards and upwards!

I’ve just read about the team mates attacking CM! Wow!

N5

Pierre I’m not happy with the defense as I’ve posted quite regularly but I was interested to know how much past arsenal are you familiar with Emery because you do seem to have made your mind up on him already.

un na naai

N5

No it went
The klitschko brothers have taken waaaay worse and behaved in an exemplary fashion. I think certain sportsmen can go too low in the pursuit of a mental advantage but it doesn’t condone what kabib and his team did last night.

Cantona and Tyson were banned, he should be too.

un na naai

N5

Wasn’t not went. Excuse me

Leftsidesanch

Khabib won decisively so didn’t need to spark up that melee. Even worse was the cowardly attacks his teammates did to Conor who didnt fight back and was still in recovery.

As for what you guys saying about Fury, nonsense – he gets flatlined by Wilder. AJ is robotic as a person but in the ring hes improved everything but his head movement which needs a lot of work.

Leftsidesanch

As for our lot, can see a 3-1 this afternoon to the boys in red (or whatever colour away strip we’ll wear).

Pierre

N5
So you are not happy with his Emery has set up the team defensively…I am not happy of how Emery has set up the team defensively yet you have come to the conclusion that I have made up my mind about the new manager so obviously you have made up your mind about him as well .

Pierre

How*(his)

N5

Not true Pierre. I’m positive he’ll sort it in future TWs, are you?

PS thanks un na

UTarse

Lil p,
Taking his usual morning dump on Emery.

N5

He’s historically a winner Pierre. He must do something right to win all he’s won.

Leftsidesanch

Pierre, we get it your not receptive to Emery and it doesn’t seem like your trying to be either but must you retort the same points on a daily basis?

Goobergooner

Pierre “This could be regarded as a criticism of Emery’s tactics by you goobergoona and ces appeal, so fair play to you both for pointing out an obvious flaw in how Emery sets up the team.” You do crack me up :p and we are in concurrence here for sure. In my opinion, I did not think Emery would come in and change things as quick as some people expect, maybe that’s where I get a bit defensive. I have not rated our defense or midfield for years, and with only 70 mil spent in the summer, I don’t think… Read more »

N5

Emery has years of stuff to put right and he’s not even been at the club 6 months. He’s won 10 of 12 games with what he has and yet still so negative.

You can’t possibly expect it to be an Emery team yet, surely!

Pierre

Just reiterating what N5 ,goobergooner, ces appeal have said this morning …

They pointed out that they are not happy defensively, and that our no.10 plays way too far forward which leaves us short in midfield and gives us no/less options when playing out from defence .

Obviously they are not being receptive to Emery.

N5

But Pierre we also haven’t been happy with it for a few seasons and expect Emery to sort it.

That’s where we all differ I think.

Leftsidesanch

The posters you cite dont make it a daily habit to criticise. What your saying about the defence, most of us are in agreement with. The difference is, we want him to get it right for the good of team.

From where I’m sat, its not apparent that you wish the same.

Goobergooner

With you n5

N5

Exactly leftside that’s why I asked him originally. I can’t help feeling Pierre is desperate for him to start losing so he can say “I told you so”.

Pierre

N5
You won’t find too much negativity from my comments of the last month or so .

Lacazette is starting …positive
Torriera is starting…..positive
Holding is starting ….positive
Leno is starting ……positive

All we need now is for Emery to come to the conclusion that playing Ramsey as the no.10 is doomed to fail ….he has options and very good options in ozil, Mhkitaryan and iwobi to play the role.

Also would like to see the full backs be a little less willing to go forward at the same time ….

Champagne Charlie

“Don’t see many people with a career go back to work at 70.“

Patently untrue, those with careers typically finish them when they’re incapable of continuing, certainly not because they suddenly fancy having loads of time on their hands.

Even moreso at the pinnacle of various professions.

Pierre

N5
“Exactly leftside that’s why I asked him originally. I can’t help feeling Pierre is desperate for him to start losing so he can say “I told you so”.”

So w what you are saying is that you and the others can criticise ,as you have done ,but I cant.

Have a look back at my comments in the last month and you will see that I have been no more critical of Emery than 80% of posters on here .

Even this morning I was only agreeing with yours ,goobergoona and ces appeal criticism of Emery’s tactics .

TR7

I think our fortuitous winning streak will come to an end today although I hope I am wrong.

N5

Nope Pierre I’m not saying that at all. However you must see the difference in the comments, surely!

China

Pierre if emery has a sod off attitude to defense then what is the cause of Bellerin starting to look less shit, and signing our first quality dm option in yonks? He could’ve gone out and used that torreira money on another attacking player (we desperately needed a winger anyway) but didn’t. Holding and Bellerin are both looking a bit tighter recently, torreira looks like a classy buy and our dm for the last few seasons xhaka is playing less like a shameful embarrassment than during any other period during his time with us Evidently our defense has a fair… Read more »

Arsene's Nurse

Ozil is injured so doesn’t even make the bench today. Suspected broken fingernail is keeping him out.

Samesong

Mustafi and Holding central pair starting.

Thorough

Most balanced attack we’ve picked all season. If the defense can hold its own I believe this attack will wreck havoc.

Pierre

Ufraud
You, being a “season ticket holder ” should have a decent knowledge of the game I would assume.

If that is the case and taking into account how totally pissed off you were with the previous manager and his tactics ,then surely you would have expected the new manager to address our defensive issues…..

If not ,then I apologise for assuming you have a decent knowledge of the game .

Leftsidesanch

Would have went with Papa in place of Mustafi

TR7

Mitrovic, Sessegnon ,Scheurrle and Vietto against Mustafi and Holding

Leftsidesanch

Ozil out of the squad with a case of weasalitus today too

Receding hairline

TR7 we are playing with full backs so don’t get how it’s four up against two

And the players you listed there aren’t exactly world beaters ..just watch the game unfold no need for scare mongering

Paulinho

Like a lot of managers previous, Emery is starting to realise the value of Welbeck. Hard fucker to leave out when you look at the all-round package he brings.

Northbanker

I wonder how long it will be before the club wake up and decide to sue Ozil for breach of contract

I would love to see this happen A long term contract at that weekly wage requires a world class performer

Hers a guy who goes missing either figuratively or literally most games

Paulinho

I do quite like that forward line. Might be my favourite out of all our possible combinations.

UTarse

Lil p,
“surely you would have expected the new manager to address our defensive issues…..”

Not in 3 months with largely the same playing staff lil p, no.

“Season ticket holder” really triggers you doesn’t it old man ?

Northbanker

Read the N5 and Pierre debate but think that in last couple of games in what have been some quite tricky games against the cosh the defence already showing greater tightness Holding and Leno are making a big difference. Bellerin seems finally to be learning his trade Further development still critical but I for one am confident Emery is working on it He’s obviously still seen something in Mustafi who fundamentally is a mobile player and that must appeal to the coach I’m not thinking about ranting at Emery any time soon cos I can see the work in progress… Read more »

China

Welbeck is balls and outside of work rate and stamina has very few footballing qualities imo. But our squad is a state with zero wingers and a lot of passengers so welbeck is more useful than he should be right now

London gunner

Lot of butt hurt Connor fans.

Khabib was awesome glad he attacked that prick dillion danis.

If you talk the talk you better walk the walk.

Noway Khabib should be banned but his cowardly team mates should

China

Is Sokratis injured?

Other than him missing for Mustafi, looks like a good choice in squad selection today

Iwobi has earned it. Ozil is a prick. Welbeck will be a runner. Good choice!

London gunner

Paulinho

You still going on with your welbeck fetish.
He is an awful striker, with a lot of work rate and some decent pace. Let’s be honest we need to upgrade on the wings and welbeck is only getting play time because we haven’t got any wingers in this team.

The man united reject is only best as a back up player nothing else and hopefully in Jan/summer we upgrade on him with one of the many better wingers there are out there on the market

N5

North banker I agree mate, it’s getting better each game.

London, I read they’ve been banned already. I know it’ll need to go to the ruling body but apparently they’ve imposed an instant dismissal to his team mates.

TR7

Scare mongering? Relax Receding!

I consider Mustafi the weakest link in our line up and Holding although promising is still learning his trade. Both of them will be up against a few players in the opposition side who I think have the ability to hurt us. I merely pointed that out.

N5

Yeah I must admit I was surprised to see Paulinho is a Welbeck fan. I do like the lad but I’ve never felt he was good enough for us or Manure.

Paulinho

London – You say Welbeck he is an an awful striker, then say we need to buy a better winger, all over the place mate.

He’s a utility attacker that can help the whole team in every area. Defensively he can drop back and wins balls and set off attacks from strong runs from deep. We’ve got Laca and Mikhi that can strike a ball and score goals. Welbeck’s scoring record when fit is not bad either. I do hope he’s not on the right though. Far better from a left sided position.

TR7

I have always rated what Welbeck brings to the table. Not a world class player but very handy due to his physicality, pace and hard work.

Paulinho

N5 – I can see his flaws and know we need better long term, but unless Aubameyang is playing central as a striker, I don’t want him in the team. Awful on the left.

VicVic

I say we win today, plus with ease. Not against Emery. We didn’t hire a Pep with top money so we have an Emery who is trying his best to be an Emery. Every team has its low side, even Pep’s, but what suddenly became odd here was that many people here would not allow a man talk about the team’s low side just because it goes against what they stand for. Emery’s in it and getting the points, and that’s good enough, but we have no reason not to say ‘hey, that was wrong’, if something was not right.… Read more »

Northbanker

Also think a blow has been injury to AMN We already know that Emery was really keen on him as a player so losing him so early would have been a set back although very much work in progress Here’s a scenario 1 AMN develops and ultimately makes LB his position and learns craft of a FB 2 Bellerin played and developed as best as possible to up his value 3 Bellerin sold back to Barca for huge fee (DNA and all that shit) 4 AMN now moves to RB – his natural side 5 AN other now spotted and… Read more »

China

Welbeck is another west ham player imo

But our squad has no one else like him except iwobi (who is also a better player) and right now welbeck will probably provide solid balance with iwobi on the other side

Seems like a legit call. We struggle with auba ozil and Ramsey all on at the same time. Curious to see how we do today in the league with none of them on lol

TheLegendaryDB10

Have the gods conspired to allow us to have a team free of Ozil and Ramsey, all at the same time?!

TheLegendaryDB10

This will make for a very interesting game to watch and see how the team functions without both (Ozil and Ramsey) players.

raptora

Bellerin absolute pony.

TheLegendaryDB10

Great save by Leno!

HillWood

C’mmon you you dark blues and maroons

DaleDaGooner

Bellerin what a wank player

raptora

Leno is running so much faster than Cech. Holy fk.

London gunner

Paulinho

London – You say Welbeck he is an an awful striker, then say we need to buy a better winger, all over the place mate.

He is half of oneand half of the other, but simply isn’t good enough at either role.
To put into context iwobi is shitting all over him performance wise.

Welbeck as most utility players is only good enough for the bench. We could and should be looking for an upgrade. As if welbeck was so great how comes he has struggled to feature as a starter throughout his arsenal career?

raptora

What do you mean an advantage ref? That’s a red card!!!

Paulinho

Xhaka again ffs. Cannot play a simple pass.

Cesc Appeal

Xhaka panics when he’s pressured he does not like it at all

gonsterous

lmfao. welbeck saves it from a throw in to give them a goal kick. xhaka loses the ball under the slightest bit of pressure. We do need a cazorla type to help us retain possession better.

Marko

Mitrovic is a dirty cunt.

DaleDaGooner

That Seri would have been handy in our side

Paulinho

London – Iwobi hasn’t done anything different to any other season. Some nice control and runs around a lot. Wait till he actually delivers when starting games for a period of time before getting carried away.

Dream10

Mitrovic is a naughty boy. Rake of the studs down laca’s Achilles. Red card worthy

London gunner

Paul

The thing is I don’t actually rate iwobi, don’t think he is good enough for the top level, but even then he has more impact that welbeck.

Iwobi for me is too unpolished and you can see he struggles in the final third. He doesn’t have that cutting edge rapid fire football brain

raptora

For some players it’s much easier to do well coming out of the bench. Iwobi and Welbeck are typical examples. Don’t do well for a prolonged time as starters. Mikki needs to do more. Looks like he is hiding.

Dream10

Kolasinac coming on soon?
Nacho looks sore

Paulinho

“Xhaka panics when he’s pressured he does not like it at all”

Especially chronic at the start of matches.

Pierre

11 v 12 atm…nothing changes with refs

raptora

“Especially chronic at the start of matches.”

When the opponents have more energy in their legs to press.

Dissenter

“So you’re blaming mcgregor for the actions of someone who can not control their temper?”

Typical of Una na Don
I suggested no such thing. I said the Russian needs a heavy fine and possible stripping him of the title.

Dream10

Henry Mkhitaryan first man off.
Ramsey on by minute 55

london gunner

The quality of our squad is about 5th level.

Liverpool, man city, chelsea, spurs all have better players. (Man united about same level as us)

If Emery gets us top 4 hats off to him

China

Lol some Aussie guy smashed out of his face at this bar making such a dumbass of himself starting trouble

TR7

Didn’t take long for Iwobi to revert back to his championship standard.

london gunner

Khabib being stripped of his title is horrible for the sport. Its UFC, not kindergarten nice guy friendship club.

So what the violence spilt out into the crowd. Hand Khabib a small fine and be done with it.

Danny

Only worth watching for Torreira.

Northbanker

Why are Welbeck and Iwobi both playing the left flank?

Dissenter

TR7
“Didn’t take long for Iwobi to revert back to his championship standard.

It didn’t take long for you so start your Iwobi crap.
We aren’t playing well yet, everyone. not just Iwobi.

london gunner

China

Hey pal, stop calling me a dumbass 😉

Northbanker

I assume Welbeck supposedly playing CAM ? Why isn’t Mikhi playing that role?

Dream10

Lacazette, Welbeck and Torreira excellent so far

raptora

Get the fk in!!!!

Danny

That’ll do nicely!

Northbanker

Relally dood goal

grooveydaddy

Laca! !

Dissenter

The bromance between Laca and Auba is amazing.

Northbanker

Really good goal

azed

Goal!!!!

TR7

My boy laca again

gonsterous

well, well, well , get in you lovelies.

China

Laca does it again

Get in

raptora

We’ve been actually playing solid stuff today. I like it so far.

N5

Lovely goal from Laca.

TheLegendaryDB10

Come on Laca!!!! Great goal!

Dream10

Laca class finish.

Lacazette and Welbz working very hard off the ball. Making up for the lack of composure from Mkhi and Iwobi early on

london gunner

Swear Laca should trademark that move. That’s Laca at his best.
