or SWEET SHIRT, right?

Get in people, we made it to 11 years old! 3,955 posts, 2.1million comments praising my words every day, A TOPPLED DICTATOR, A NEW BEGINNING, new internet friends, new real-life friends (yeah, I went on a man-date last night with a Gooner)… this site has been the absolute best, and I want to say a great big huge thank you to everyone who logs on to read the articles everyday, and I want to thank those who listen to the podcast (and those who come on the show). You make the internet worth living for, you also give me knowledge everyday I can steal and repurpose as my own.

Look at the fancy shirt in the opening picture, that my friends is a birthday present from the very excellent team at FOKOHAELA. It’s given me a new lease of life in the world of football apparel. I can finally wear one outside because this one is about original design with the heart and details I’m lacking from my PUMA shirts. GO HERE if you’d like to see some of the other options which are very awesome.

Onto football news, Mesut Ozil is back in the press, this time it’s Per bloody Mertesacker weighing in on the conversation about whether his ex-teammate said the German team were racist. Apparently, Der Spiegel ran a story in the print edition that basically confirmed the bling bling gang, but they used potatoes as a reference because of some negative connotation it has with immigrants. This is what Big Per said.

“I never heard anything about ‘potatoes’ or ‘kanaken’ during my time in the national team,”

“However I have been called ‘potato’, too.

“It should be understood that it is just a bit of fun, however. There were separate groups within the team during my time, too.

“You simply have to be careful that this does not lead to division, like: ‘you are one team, we are the other’.”

After Per cleared up that he’d been called a potato once or twice, he weighed in on Mesut’s overall accusation that the national setup was a big racist.

“Everything is possible,”

“I am curious as to how the DFB is going to approach the building of a new team.

“I never experienced racism or discrimination during my time, so I was surprised by Mesut’s allegations and that they were so harsh.

I for one was very surprised to hear that a 6ft6 blonde German hadn’t experienced the harshness of racism from his national team. He looks like exactly the sort of person who’d have the right wing throwing potatoes at him. That aside, this really is the neverending story.

What I guess is working in Mesut’s favour is the German players have focused on the fact that they personally are not racist, which is not what he’d claimed. The real story is Ozil stood tall with a wannabe dictator just before a World Cup for propaganda purposes, then kicked out at the way DFB, media and his partners handled the photo/issue afterwards. I’d still say that overall, the lesson for Ozil is don’t stand tall with dictators, because that really has fuck all to do with your ancestry. Just my opinion, of course.

Still, at least he has a pal in Nacho Monreal.

“People have been a bit unfair with him,”

“He is a very famous player and obviously people love talking about him. Recently, it is always bad things. Like last time, he was sick and that’s why he didn’t play.

“People started to invent that he had a problem with the manager. It wasn’t like that. He got a cold, he was sick, that’s it. That’s why he didn’t play.”

You go girlfriend.

Matty G landed Arsenal player of the month at his first attempt, well played that lad. I think he’s a very exciting talent and I pray we develop him, opposed to going down the path of overplaying him, breaking his confidence, injuring him, then sending him out on loan to Cheltenham.

Who said that I’m negative?

Next three games in the Premier League after the break are Newcastle, Everton and Watford. On paper, those should bring home 9 points, but all of those teams are capable of an upset. It’s super tough to come back from an international break and go away to Geordieland – home of the greatest fans ever known in the universe – so that’ll be a big test of Emery’s planning skills. I think out of those three games, the Watford game will pose the greatest threat. They’ve started extremely well this season, and it’s exactly the sort of game we’d lose under Wenger. Let’s see what’s changed.

The manager is also going to have to deal with the complications of a trip to Ukraine before the Everton game which lands three days later on a Sunday. I can’t wait to see what sort of team the manager takes for the Europa League, because really, that’s a great chance for us to make CL through the back door. We then have Brentford, who play some sexy football, 3 days later in the league cup. Does Emery go for all the trophies this year? We’ll find out after the break!

Finally, I know you know that I don’t use the blog to sell anything bar cheap erectile dysfunction meds via SEO backlinks. Today though, I’m selling dreams. The chaps over at Play With a Legend are taking entrants for their next batch of games that are hosted by none other than Nigel Winterburn.

Great news, right? You turn up before a game, get your kit on, and play some football with a legend, then you get to have a lovely chat with them after.

Left, You have problem with this? Don’t read. Simple. Unfortunately, these are the uncomfortable truths and no amount of virtue signalling will ever change that. I had a run in with the cops in Texas. Nothing too serious, but I was still told to back the fuck off when I came closer to see if he spelt my name correctly. Apologised, took two steps back. Not too hard, is it? The whole victim culture based on generalisation stemming from isolated cases pisses me off. Looking at the stats of how many people get shot by the police shows that if… Read more »

Suga, if people have a problem with a guy kneeling during the national anthem, they too can stop looking for 20 seconds and avoid being offended

China,

Who, the paying customers? Wag the dog much? 😉

Anyway, my original point was that it was laughable for Nike to do this virtue signalling nonsense, when at the same time they pretty much use child slave labour to make their stuff.

Leftsidesanch

If you had a problem with the initial point that Peds raised in another post, you could have also applied what your suggesting I do Suga3.

But we’ll leave it there.

How isolated are those cases of genuinely unnecessary police brutality and what procedures and systems are in place to stop them form happening again? If the answer to this is they basically never happen and if they did the systems in place would prevent the blue wall from saving the police officer then hurray, that’s genuinely awesome and we can all move on from this topic. As long as it still sometimes happens and there are people getting let off for it then I don’t think the conversation should be stopped. Like what’s the cut off? How many examples of… Read more »

Give all cops cameras, I say. Rolling continuously or when the gun or taser is out of the holster. Something like gun camera on a plane. This is simple enough to do in this day and age.

Then I will wait to see how much the police killings drop. This is about the only way to actually prove something in this debate.

Dissenter

China Thanks for your well reasoned centrist comments. It’s no doubt difficult policing the streets of a gun-crazy society and it has to be hellish for anyone carrying a badge. Most of these situations occur over seconds and most fair minded people know that mistakes can be made by even the best. The goal has to be to dispense justice as best as possible with as much transparency as possible. The whole system is too slanted to make it easy for bad cops to get away with brazen excessive use of force. The blue wall of silence is no different… Read more »

If the ones getting on their knees were actually doing anything to help the cause they’re promoting this wouldn’t be just about the Anthem. But they aren’t. Leftsidesanch

I didn’t once say I was offended either but you carry on by yourself Suga boy

SUGA3

gonsterous,

I know that. Seen my fair share of unions bailing out utter wastes of oxygen too. But in the end, the employer wins in most cases, as long as they act fairly enough not to be done in court.

I do wholeheartedly agree that penal system and private capital should not mix. Ever.

This being said, I would be all for hard labour for any violent crime. State hard labour, that is. Tracks, roads, etc.

SUGA3

As for this whole three strike thing, it is a bit of a manipulation to say that it applies to non-violent crimes. Unless you count serious drug offences as such:

Under the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, the “Three Strikes” statute provides for mandatory life imprisonment if a convicted felon:

(1) has been convicted in federal court of a “serious violent felony”; and
(2) has two or more previous convictions in federal or state courts, at least one of which is a “serious violent felony” (the other offense may be a serious drug offense).

Anyone else see this on the BBC?

If Mertesacker didn’t want to play that much, why didn’t he take early retirement? Why did he sit out his last year on the books at Arsenal on a full salary as a member of the playing staff?

In the article he says training was enough for him, why didn’t he then approach the club to be a coach, if his heart wasn’t in it? Why basically cheat the club for a whole year?

I’m amazed that Mertesacker, as our academy head, has said this so openly.

Wow. Just wow.

Calm down.

AlexanderhenrySeptember 7, 2018 15:24:28 Well,I’m not a seasoned expert on US Politics..I’m sure they are a significant number on here that are, that could perhaps shed more light on the current situation . But from my understanding, their seems to be several factors at play here.:- 1)The findings/conclusions of the Mueller report. In essence if the report highlights that Trump did indeed collude with the Russians to effect the outcome of the US Elections, that would be enough to possibly impeach him, should the Democrats also win the mid terms. 2)Using campaign money to pay off other people, which in turn would effect/influence the outcome of… Read more »

Black bean chilli (homemade and vegetarian)
Mai Tai, Gin n Tonic, Ale, Red Wine (anything French or Italian). I don’t like new world wine.
1980’s, classical, Jazz, rock and Elvis Presley. I’ll even go a bit of classic rap.

I expect with this free giveaway, I’ll be stalked online and then in person.

KAY Boss

See how some are discussing politics here without holding back.
If it were from other groups some will be furious.
Well, don’t blame them much since there isn’t much football to talk about. But Pedro started it.
Can someone explain how this UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE is all about?

Ha ha…I drink Guinness because the old man does. He’s Irish so you simply have too. Not many though as the chances of illness is pretty high with that fucking drink!

We do a nice mac and cheese at home.

I actually forgot to add I’m a big soul fan. Both American and Northern. I don’t want to open a can of worms but…R and B? Are we talking classic as in Motown or modern? Because I can’t be doing with the modern shite.

You like Teddy Pendergrass?

Guns of Hackney

If anyone says they like George Ezra…they have admitted they don’t like music.

This should be a red flag.

Guinness is one of the worst tasting beers in my humble opinion, I can’t recall too many times I’ve actually enjoyed drinking it. So I’m prob not alright that I still buy it with my free will. I like the Irish one but drink the Nigerian one more frequently (just because my folks are Nigerian)

Yeah, I like Pendergrass, and I like Motown a lot. I listen to classical r’n’b, couldn’t tell you what’s out currently cos I don’t pay too much mind to today’s type of music if i can help it.

Whatever our disagreements might be regarding football, we like the same music…and that can’t be bad.

You may know this but. Apparently the reason Guinness is black is because they burnt the original hops and didn’t have anymore to replace it…ergo, it became black. Probably bullshit, but a nice story.

You ever see the Eddie Murphy skit about teddy pendergrass? I think it was from Delirious. Basically he says that TD sings women into bed by threatening them with his aggressive vocal. It’s better if EM does it. Ha ha.

Guns of Hackney

Oh, and Purple Rain is one of the greatest tracks ever written. Period.

Leftsidesanch

Yep, I’ve seen that Eddie special – Murphy’s stuff was a real favourite in my household growing up. Never heard that about Guinness you know.

You can tell a man by the type of music he listens to. I’m saying that like it’s fact but you got some good taste.

——————–

I disagree…I would not say of all time…But I would not say Purple Rain by Prince was one of his greatest tracks, let alone the greatest tracks ever written.

If I was to choose from his catalogue of music,I would venture “When Doves Cry” & “If I was your girlfriend”-as a starting point..

That’s just my humble opinion of course..It’s all subjective mind you.

PS
“Raspberry Beret” by Prince was another one..INMHO. 🙂

The Guinness thing might be bull so don’t quote me on it but I have heard it from a couple of different sources.

EM is so underrated. But…he basically stole everything from Pryor. But he does it well.

Music taste is personal but I’ve never met anyone I LIKE that likes terrible music.

Oh and I like a bit of punk. The Ramones, Iggy Pop and the Stooges, the pistols.

If I didn’t say that…my wife would kill me. She is a punk (was outfit and mowhark wise but now just spiritually).

Purple Rain just does it all for me. It has structure, lyrics, a story, amazing vocals, great guitar…it’s just opinion.

It’s not fact but I judge vocals on “does it make my hair stand on end”. There are only three vocals that do it. Elvis in 1970’s. Whitney Houston and Janis Joplin.

The only reason I watch X factor is because I want to hear a decent vocal. Like Leona Lewis. Whatever you think of her, a ridiculous vocal.

Michael Jackson’s

PYT,Human Nature ,You are not alone, and Liberian Girl are a few others to consider..

James Brown-“It’s a mans world”,is another classic..
