Aaron Ramsey has a calf injury… read into that how you like, but not before I give you a sweet hot take.

1. If he’s faking an injury, that’s bad news, because it means he’s leaving. Arsenal surely can’t keep him beyond the deadline day that’s looming.

2. If he’s reacted badly to double sessions and he’s injured already after not having a World Cup, that’s pretty much the standard way his career has gone for us.

We had a solid start to our summer, but we might end it losing last seasons star man and our CEO.

I mean, Ivan leaving isn’t a big deal. Part of me feels like that’s the sort of move you make after you realise that your grand plan might be a shite one. What sort of person bottles out of a project this early? If he’d gone when 90% of his job was being a propaganda machine for Wenger and FFP dreams, I’d get it. He had no power. But leaving just after he’s implemented an incredibly expensive plan is absolute jokes.

That’s the measure of the man.

Incredibly poor leadership. Bottled the managerial decision for self preservation (they wanted Arteta). Bottled controlling the new manager’s entourage (letting him have 5 staff). Bottled seeing it through (All but confirmed Milan is his new club).

Hopefully, Stan hires a football CEO for the next round. Let’s find someone who has grown a club to elite status. Little bit like the work being done over at Juventus. Smart branding, a focus on winning, new stadium, immense wheeler dealer-ing.

In other news… DEMBELE WAS IN A PICTURE WITH ARSENAL PLAYERS.

Auba snuck out the below on his father’s Instagram.

Screen Shot 2018-08-03 at 1.41.16 PM

LOVE.

I remember being told the RVP used to tap up his mates and try and sell them to Arsene Wenger back in the day. Can’t help but think Auba is a recruitment specialist. Dembele is a superstar, he would be the icing on the cake this summer and I’d throw myself under a bus to see him in red and white.

Let’s see how that plays out. The players know what they’re doing there. Let’s hope the smoke is a roaring fire.

Right, my arm is hurting. See you in the comments.

Ramsey has had a vacation all summer and is already injured, whether it’s a real injury or he thinks he’s too good for Arsenal doesn’t matter. I can’t wait to get rid of him. Too inconsistent to build a team around and does not work together with Özil.

DM

The whole “DM is Pedro” thing doesn’t bother me tbh. Those who have been around long enough to remember my initial contests against Bankz et al will know the truth. For the rest of you, you’re basically saying I’m so good at it that I must be Pedro… I’ll take that! 😉

Have to say the Iwobi extension wreaks of past days and very poor decisions.

I feel it’s important we sell Ramsey asap, the money he demanding you pay to someone like Santo Cazorla in his prime. The team has never looked the same since he got injured. Ramsey has never had that kind of influence or impact on the team

Emiratesstroller

Pedro As I said earlier today Gazidis has been in job 10 years and it has taken him almost 9 years to shift out Wenger and put in place a half decent football management structure. The club needed real leadership and frankly he did not offer it until it was almost too late when we were dropping out of CL qualification pecking order. CEO should be anticipating problems and not reacting to them. You have also to ask the question why Arsenal fell behind many other clubs in the commercial and sponsorship funding deals. On the transfer front Arsenal need… Read more »

I am not to bothered about the COE or Kronke, this club spends allot of money. In past few seasons we have spent at least 50 million on Lacazette, another 50 million on Abamyang, we spent a further 35 million on both Chaka and Mustafi. If Paul sees out is contract it will be with 70 million. Not to mention how it took us to sell the likes of Sculachi, Delinson, Silvest because of there ridiculous wages

Steve Hamblen

Pedro, I see this Ramsey situation in the same way as the Ozil one last season. The club were so desperate to keep him because Sanchez left, they offered Mesut £330k a week to stay. This is exactly what camp Ramsey is trying to achieve, a bumper deal. If this is the case, then he needs to go as we can’t be seen to bow to players outrageous demands. Gazidis needs to get this sort of thing under control, either Ramsey signs a sensible deal with a fair pay rise or we sell him and get a sensible replacement. If… Read more »

To be honest, if Ramsey stays or goes doesn’t bother me.

Arsenal and life will move on.

Watching Reading v Derby. It will be interesting to see how Lampard gets on as a manager

leon

Ramsey has some front after last season. Watching him and the rest of midfield get bent over and penerstrated for pretty all 2018. If the worst comes to worst and we can’t sell him, make him see out his contract. No one is going meet his wage demands. With wealth of young talnant we have in central midfield. So
Ramsey would not be a big loss, we would have to change up system bit maybe

Freddie Ljungberg

Ramsey back in training next week according to .com, Kolasinac out for 8-10 weeks.

Where is Monreal? He needs minutes quickly now or is AMN filling in?

Hope the Ramsey injury is just a cover and we’re selling him, would be nice if Liverpool could overpay for another of our overrated british core.

Not liking what the new team is doing so far in regards to contract renewals, Iwobi, Elneny, Xhaka and Chambers should have all been sold to fund a rebuild together with Mustafi and Welbeck, not given payrises that makes them harder to move on. Strange decisions …

Ray in LA

I was a little concerned reading the reports of the Chelsea friendly game that Bellerin was consistently beaten…what concerns me most is that there was no tactical shift to support him

Did anyone else feel that this is residual Wengerism or am I reading too much into this?

Cheers R

Marc

What everyone seems to be missing is where is the interest in Ramsey from other clubs? We’ve had one non rumour about Chelsea that lasted about 4 hours, the same goes for Welbeck who’s in the same situation. It’s difficult to sell something that no one wants to buy.

Marc

Ray

The fact that there was no tactical shift is solely down to Emery – he’s the manager now. If Emery gave instructions that weren’t followed by players that’s another thing completely.

Michael24

Ray in LA

No, it’s because Bellerin was shit and Emery wanted to see just how shit.

Yes, you are “reading too much into this”

R.S.P.C.Arsenal

Ray

Way to read into it is maybe someone was not doing their job?

Maybe bel or maybe who was supposed to cover.

It’s a six month process sortin* out defence
Getting the combo of the back four right is going to be 5he hard part.

Marc

Michael

Bellerin just didn’t look right to me, not an excuse but maybe the new training session are sorting the men from the boys.

Michael24

Highlighted it last week and biting on it again, but where the heck has Bellerins burst of pace gone?

I get the vegan thing, but how can you go from a Porsche 911 to a Fiat 500 in such a short space of time?

Without this asset, he is fudged.

R.S.P.C.Arsenal

Michael

Amen to that

Stay or goes ?

He’s hard enough chances to make himself an indispensable player an h3 ain’t taken it,

Michael24

Marc

Marc

RSPC

I think half the defence is pretty straight forward, Monreal ( I know he’s not a kid but he’s been a solid consistent player for years now), Sokratis (he’s been brought in for a specific reason which is a bit of leadership in the back line), Bellerin should be RB all day but needs to seriously step it up. The other CB position is up for grabs.

TheLegendaryDB10

To me the Gazidis exit reeks of them trying to move him out. The reason, as mentioned by others here, is that he failed as a CEO. He failed at making good commercial deals, in part due to the growing mediocrity under AW, but this is also linked to the fact that he said nothing to the owner about the slow decline that the club was experiencing. Gazidis was to happy cashing in his paycheck instead of looking out for the club. Kroenke needs The Arsenal to prosper to help his Rams stadium (and other projects) come to fruition. LeMassiveCoq

Seriously..
What is all the fuss over Ramsey? Two good seasons out of 5. Injury prone. Sideways passer, slows play down.
Yes, last seasons stats were good, yes he is the only box to box player we have and, he does make those Lampardesque runs into the box and scores from mid. But imo if we can get 40-50m for him, there are better options. Dembele is the dream of course, but there are others.
Get rid.

Michael24

How many LeG’s will be at the game.

Marc

No ones devastated that Ramsey could leave this summer. It’s the reality that we have about 140 hours of the transfer window left, not only have we got to sell him – whose interested? where are the bid’s? but we’d then have to get a replacement lined up and get them into the setup with a few days before the season kicks off.

Marc

Michael

Fucks knows but what ever it is he needs to get his shit together.

The atmosphere should be great.

It will be interesting because often the first game of the season has quite a few empty seats – purely people on holiday and forgetting to sell the ticket. I do think these going to be plenty of goodwill in the stadium I’m just upset I’ll be forced to have a few cold beers before hand, plus a couple after.

Ospina and Bellend have all been Wengerised. They have been overpaid and pampered to much. It is hard today whether they have just lost their way or have been completely destroyed by Wenger’s lenient methods.

This season looks like it will be tough. Did not watch the game vs Chelski but from what I have read and heard we are in for a rough season. … I don’t expect much from this season. There is a shit load of work to be done with these players before anything resembling a competitive team will emerge.

PessimisticPat

Bellerin has gained incredible amounts of upper body muscle in the past 18 months in comparison to his legs. Being top heavy but with the same skinny legs is a massive error. He has looked less mobile, agile and his first touch and turning ability have really suffered too. Out of all our players I’m concerned most about him.

PessimisticPat

As for Ramsey I couldn’t give a shit. Misses 30 percent of the season anyway so let’s fuckin cut our losses for once. He is not irreplaceable but he is unreliable. We have to stop waiting for a miracle from decent players and start flogging them and trying something new.

I can’t wait for the season to start so all this transfer bollocks is over and we can watch the progression of this team.

Goobergooner

If we don’t get in a winger, Iwobi is the back up there. Not preferable in any case, but he has looked semi lively in the minutes he has played in pre season. He is still young and hopefully Emery can coach a final ball or 20 into him and we can make a bit of coin off him next summer to put towards a real winger. I am definitely excited about the season, but not overly optimistic we will progress in the way we all hope, not until next season anyway. Top 4 is a priority, obviously. We need… Read more »

I like Ramsey, but if he cares about the club he wouldn’t be fudging around. His agent is definitely the one dragging this out. Greedy prick.

In saying that, i couldn’t care less if he went. It’s a shit situation to be in with a player as average as Ramsey.
Next summer I have the feeling our CB, CM and winger positions will be upgraded in a capacity that we desperately need

Guns of SF

His agent wants to make $$ on the commission deal- his cut as do all agents. their fee so to speak I am more concerned if this soft tissue injury is legit then we cannot expect a healthy rambo all season. I say sell now. I do hope Sven and co are doing something really big right now. Ramsey in my opinion doesn’t need replacing, we are so well stocked in that central area. There might even be some movement the defence in January but will most likely be in the summer. Allot will depends on weather we receive any buyers for Mustafi , I do think if a decent offer came for him they would sell him. I would be very surprised if he still here next summer and the same goes for Xhaka

Marko

Really hope those Vida rumours are just that. I mean we need a defender but bringing in two 29 year olds isn’t good long term planning

Guns of SF

Leon
Ramsey either signs for a respectable amount now, or he gets sold. do or die not more fucking about. At this late a stage it feels likely a deal will come through, but if not, we take a huge hit again in January trying to move him on.

Goobergooner

With you guns of SF,

Agree the agent is trying to get the biggest fee possible, but surely he’s outdoing himself trying to get anything more than 200k per week for Ramsey. That is a serious joke. And that the club haven’t acted yet is also a joke. Unless they believe Wenger on ‘best possible situation being in final year of contract’ bs hahaha.

But like you said, the injury is more of a concern, especially if we are keeping him.

This final week of TW could be utter madness or incredibly underwhelming. Just keen for the season to start.

Useless signings and playing his favourites is why Arsenal finished 6th.

Exactly. But don’t forget the crappy training sessions they had as well. The players were being Mollycoddled to death under AW. They had no chance to learn anything new. Remember Keowns comments that AW refused players to learn from their mistakes by watching videos as AW believed that they would replicate their mistakes if they watched the videos! Barmy methods to say the least.

Guns of SF

Legendary it was also because Wenger did not want them to feel bad about their mistakes. He didnt want them to have this mental burden on them LOL

Guns of SF

Ramsey will either be content or not based on our offer.
if he does not get Ozil $, I expect more soft tissue injuries and a general malaise.

Im excited to see Matteo- if he continues, he can be our box to box…bye Rambo

Leedsgunner

If Ivan is off, we have a ready made replacement in Raul Sanhelli. If the club wants a someone outside the club, they should seriously consider Monchi the director of football at Roma. Emery had a good working partnership with him at Sevilla…

Or Michael Zorc, the CEO at BvB… a very good operator.

I think AW had power long term.. entren..ched.. Change doesnt happen overnight. long termi invisible i.d say, processes.
Now with a set up in place and opportunity (($$$? lifestyle. ego aspiration perhaps /drive.. . Gazidis moves maybe.. Don’t know -anyway.

Good to see the Senior players aren’t too big headed to have a young emerging 17 year old hanging out with them outside the work place. Good on them. That’s what good leadership is all about.

I don’t think we should be buying any more older players, except for CB if we replace Mustafi.

Kos is most likely finished as a starter anyway so if Mustafi goes we have Papa and a bunch of 20-23 year olds, getting someone like Vida in would give one or 2 of them the chance to develop into a starter without the pressure of being thrown in at the deep end.

Freddie Ljungberg

Sanmi So how do we improve? Just hoping Emery can polish the turds, or sell the turds and get funds for players that will actually make us compete again? Welbeck is a useful squad donkey with 1 year left on his contract, already on high wages. Iwobi would have been ok to keep on 35k a week maybe if we didn’t get any decent bids for him, he’s now reportedly on 70k, we’re never going to get rid of him now. Arsenal it seems somehow have to shift either Ospina or Cech due to the HG numbers but no one wants Ospina.Chelsea it is claimed will sale Courtois to Real after the window closes in England if it is a loan meaning he can play against Arsenal on 18/9.

salparadisenyc

Vidal at 20m euro is a ridiculous value, total warrior would loved to of seen him in the red n white.

I feel the club need to run a much tighter ship from point on, the club waste allot of money over paying on wages. We had two captains who hardly played a single game in Arteter and Mertesteker, both were on 80k I believe and I don’t think Arteter played a single game, we had a manager who 8 million a year then went up to 10 million for doing what exactly?

Michael24

Leon

It goes without saying that Arsenal have been atrociously run over the past decade.

Both on and off the field of play, decisions were made that made no sense whatsoever.

The wheels of change are now in motion and one hopes, and trusts, that the new systems and methods being installed, will benefit the club and it’s supporters as a whole, but even more significantly, the players and the team, out on the pitch.
