It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life for me, oozzzziiiiilllll
I won’t talk about theeeee!
Yes people, I have been finished by that story. That said, big shout out to the folk that kept me educated and smart on a very interesting issue. Nothing keeps you sharper in life than listening to intelligent folk who can guide your views and reframe your opinions. I will always borrow your wisdom and reframe it as my own.
I like that even though Emery has a poor grasp of English, he deflects questions like a pro.
on what the DFB should do now…
It is a personal decision from Mesut and I respect it.
on whether it is worrying what Mesut said in his statement…
He thinks what is best for him, he explained his decision and here we need to help him.
on whether Mesut is mentally prepared…
He has experience, he has quality and he has a great mentality and we are going to help him feel good and to show his quality with us. I am sure he is going to have a big season with us.
on Uli Hoeness’ comments…
I respect everybody and their opinions, but we are professionals and we need to understand everyone but work for us and to be together. We know the football [world] around us is about opinion and critique, we have a mentality and quality to work away from this opinion.
Some tasty going’s on today. Malcolm, a player we apparently targeted in January, was announced as a signing by Roma… only for that deal to get cancelled, with Barcelona weighing in for his signature. What a bitch, that’s exactly how I felt when we lost out on Cahill because we reneged on the price, only for Chelsea to nip in and make him theirs. Remember all the Arsenal hipsters (who thought Denilson was as good as Alonso) cheering the loss because Gary was shite? I do.
Anyway, do you think Sven would have signed Malcolm if he used to play for Dortmund?
Yeah, I went there…
Anyway, the upshot is we’re apparently sniffing around Dembele on loan. Kike Marin, Spanish goss hero, asked if that were the next move for Barca. It’d be weird, Dembele is way better than Malcolm, but whatever… just give me that silky Frenchman because we need him at The Arsenal.
Thierry Henry is Aston Villa manager.
Hold the faaacking phone..
He saw what Remy G did after a solid stint at Lyon, and thought the best next move was Villa. Is he fucking mad?
Good luck to him, fair play, but honestly fam… I find this one an odd decision.
Ivan G, slathered in factor 75, told a Singapore audience Ozil was a top bloke, Germany were shite, and he was catching the evening flight to Milan to meet the gang for a chat about January transfer targets. No news on Ivan, except the real narrative of his Churchillian leaked story is he purposefully leaked that he was available to talk about things, just not his future.
Not cool imo.
Something else that I found NOT cool was Arsenal releasing a press release about the CEO that read like the PR team had to muddle together some words after an 8 hour bender at a Carl Cox Space reunion party.
“We are aware of the speculation surrounding our chief executive Ivan Gazidis. We know he receives many offers from organisations inside and outside the game as he’s a hugely respected figure. He has never accepted any of these opportunities and has never spoken about them publicly. He has always been fully committed to taking Arsenal forward and is currently working hard in Singapore with our new head coach Unai Emery as we prepare for the new season.”
What a mess that report is. It reeks of Jaeger Bombs and Sunday morning regret.
‘Yeah, we don’t have a clue either’
Nice one, Sir Chips.
Usmanov is getting bored of owning a piece of Arsenal that has about as much power as that piece of chewing gum you stuck under that seat in block 11 circa 2009. Good news is African sugar king, Dangote, wants a piece of that shit.
“We will go after Arsenal from 2020 … even if somebody buys, we will still go after it,”
Good work mate, you have about as much chance of a takeover as I do using my two crates of bulk buy Pringles as leverage.
Today, we see Atletico play Arsenal. Could someone leave my Dad the channel the match is on below, he thinks there’s a conspiracy against English fans because he can’t find the channel.
Big JEFF the footballing kid we all loved because he had a cool name is apparently off to Angers. NEVER FALL IN LOVE WITH A KID is my new motto in life. It works on multiple levels to protect me if I’m honest.
Things to look out for today:
- Are our new signings slow?
- Has Emery got a system that allows both Auba and Laca to play?
- DOES RAMSEY LOOK HAPPY?
- How many formations will we test?
- WILL WE FALL IN LOVE WITH NEW ELITE KID EMILE SMITH ROWE?
- Is Emery emotional fiery guy from Sevilla, or the classy reserved guy PSG forced him to be on the sidelines?
IT BEGINS.

Yes Ashwin!! I was rooting for you today 😀
Thats Perez is it not ?
Thats definately Perez
Pedro doing his best Andre Marriner impression this morning I see..
Ramsey is playing games.
Crap post
Re Henry to Villa. You’ll need to inform Bruce (and by default Villa)
You dad might find the match here:http://livetv.sx/enx/eventinfo/674394_atletico_madrid_arsenal/
And, isn’t Steve Bruce staying on as Villa boss? You been on the sauce today Peds (i’m taking into account the time difference) ?
Pedro looks like you wrote this piece yesterday. All yesterday’s news, no insights. Henry to Villa is off no?
Banks lol…
DM
Thanks mate. I will work hard from now. I will work as hard as Wenger worked for his 7million a year payout. 🙂
Virgin media…551…today’s game.
We should be getting in on Martial. Offer cash plus Lacatalent.
This boy has a lot to prove. He could be a weapon at Arsenal.
Ramsey’s statement yesterday about negotiations raises some concerns not so much about Arsenal’s negotiating position, but more the advice being offered by the agent. Looking at the agent’s profile it is a company called the Avid Sports and Entertainment Group which was established in January 2018 with a sole director. The list of his football clients is headed by Aaron Ramsey. His client list is small and the next most valuable player is valued as just £5 million. In the past agents like this see the opportunity of a mega bucks deal for themselves and not just their client. The… Read more »
“on whether Mesut is mentally prepared…”
Does he has already been “mentally prepared” in his life ?? For his tattoos maybe ??
“Thierry Henry is Aston Villa manager…. I find this one an odd decision.”
TH will start his formation to become our next manager in a couple of years.
http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11677/11448672/steve-bruce-to-remain-aston-villa-manager-after-meeting-owners
WTF ??
“Aaron Ramsey admits he is uncertain about his Arsenal future, with his agent locked in negotiations over a new deal. ”
Ok, he wants MORE MONEY or he’ll leave… same old story.
Highbury Legend
As I posted it does not follow that Arsenal are necessarily at fault here.
The agent has got one major client and that is Aaron Ramsey and obviously
he is looking for a massive payday for himself not just his client.
“We will go after Arsenal from 2020 … even if somebody buys, we will still go after it,”
Good work mate, you have about as much chance of a takeover as I do using my two crates of bulk buy Pringles as leverage.
Well, He’s worth a Paltry 12 Billion Dollars.
Ain’t got a shot in Hell.
All those players these days, who are more attached to their bank account than to their clubs, pathetic really…
“All those players these days, who are more attached to their bank account than to their clubs, pathetic really…”
Isnt it the case with everybody in this world???
why single out footballers to be looking for a better deal when we all do the same thing every live long day.
Its always a bigger better deal. isn;t it.
Highbury Legend, not sure anybody in Ramsay’s position would not try and get the best deal possible. Don’t believe that’s ‘pathetic’ at all. Touching forelock and saying thank you negotiating team for your initial offer, that would be pathetic.
Robert Green signs for Chelsea on a free. What an absolute shambles.
Bob N16
That may be the case but you have to ask the question what is Ramsey actually
worth.
For me he is a good standard EPL player, but he is not remotely elite world class. I would value him at around £150K pw with perhaps a small premium for long service in today’s market.
Jamie The need for three over 21 year old keepers is a nonesense and to use three of the precious non HG spots on keepers is even more of an issue but thems the rules On the face of it Arsenal will be naming three nonHG spots and that then restricts outfield options. Rob Green like most third choice keepers is unlikely to feature and in the main will only get to be between the sticks in warm ups or training. Not quite sure it’s an absolute shambles , strange maybe but until we see the final squad lists everywhere… Read more »
Chelsea are so fucking dumb. First they turned down 3 big bids for 30 year old Willian and now apparently they’re demanding 62 million from Milan for Morata who apparently cost an initial 57 million. And he’s off a bad season
Marko
Maybe they need the money
I’d be sad to see Ramsay leave. But I’d feel even sadder to see him leave on a free next summer.
Terraloon –
Robert Green is an absolute shambles of a keeper. I’ve never heard of the rule where clubs have to name 3 over-21 keepers in a 25 man squad, or even needing to register 3 keepers. Citation please?
Surely if they don’t plan on playing him, there’s a youth keeper who would benefit from training with the seniors.
Team today:
Starting XI: Leno, Bellerin, Mustafi, Holding, Kolasinac, Ramsey, Guendouzi, Nelson, Smith-Rowe, Aubameyang, Lacazette
Subs: Cech, Chambers, Sokratis, Mavrapanos, Osei-Tutu, Maitland-Niles, Willock, Mkhitaryan, Lucas, Nketiah
Anyone got a live stream that works?
Guendouzi has started well, gets involved and his passing has been good
Spare a shekel for an ex-lepar…..
Marc
http://www.live-streamhd.me/stream.php?t=Flash&link=http://sportsonline.pw/livetv/xd1.html&id=224835
See if that works, batmanstream has got it though
Nelson showing exactly why a winger with pace willing to take people on is so necessary, great run into the box and a real difference to the usual sideways pass in that area
Not making excuses, but Atletico are without 10 first teamers after World Cujp duty.
Great hearing Emery and Carcedo constantly shouting even though it is a friendly
I know it’s only 10 minutes but I like the look of Guendouzi.
Marc
I agree.
Looks really good.
Xhaka watch out, Emery has him behind everyone in midfield.
So far so good regardless of AM line up. PEA looks really lively. Guendouzi, first impression good….Elneny may be playing less.
Anyone got a link to the game?
Goundouzi guy is something though. great passer of the ball
How is the defense holding up folks?
Just worried as Mustafi is playing
Ramsey: sell or sign.. simple as.
and I hope we keep ivan. I think he, like everyone at arsenal were slowly suffocated under that control-freak wenger. So I think with a normal guy like emery, ivan should flourish.
Pick one from here https://www.reddit.com/r/soccerstreams/comments/9217w3/1135_gmt_atl%C3%A9tico_madrid_vs_arsenal/ Carts.
Really liking Guendouzi
Cesc
Do we know if he was an Emery or Sven signing?
Marc
I think he was a Mislintat signing.
That would be Guendouzi and Mavropanos that are our first real Mislintat signings if you get me.
Cesc
If you’re right then he’s doing exactly what we want / need him to do
Lots of focus down the flanks, which is interesting because we don’t play with a recognised winger – Auba on left and Nelson on right. It certainly makes the case for buying a decent wide man.
Really liking our dynamic.
I’ll never Lacazette though. I’m willing to give Ozil time but fk me, Lacazette is not the striker I like to watch lead our line. I’d honestly even preferred the Adebayor years to Laca.
Fucking hell so excited about the start of the new season.
Is it to early for me to have a beer?
How tall is Leno?
Marc,
Drink, friend. This season might not be as good as we all hope but it’s going to be a new feeling. I’m pumped to watch absolutely every game we play again.
Nelson with huge miss.
Atleti 1 up
No chance for the keeper there
Holding is a just so, so green. Would send him on loan. 100%. Not of the required quality.
Poor defending by Holding.
FFS, when will laca will learn to shoot correctly, and not directly on the goalkeeper ??
It was going well.
Holding far too easily turned there, not a lot Leno could do.
Smith Rowe started that whole issue with a silly pass into Kolasinac I think it was.
Would like to see Mkhitaryan for Smith Rowe in the second half, not having a go at him because he’s very young but has not offered us a lot.
Not sure on this whole Aubameyang out wide thing either, not getting into the game where we need him to.
Think we will see a new CB pairing in the second half as well, Sokratis, Chambers.
See how that goes.
Defense error again by Rob Holding
Holding only for the Carambar Cup please…
Smith Rowe and Nelson catching the eye. But the familiar story of lots of possession and no end product.
raptora
OK you’ve persuaded me to crack open a beer.
I just can’t help feeling that this season is going to be really good. I don’t for an instance think we’re going to win the league but I’ve just got this feeling that top 4 is there to be had. Utd, Spud’s and Chelsea all with issues to manage and we’ve got a breath of fresh air.
It should be at lesat 2-1 for us, but Laca is so inefficient in front of goal…
*least
Smith Rowe has been good…….ignore anyone writing otherwise here. Our problem has been Kolasinac and Holding. We need a left back asap. Bellerin hasn’t done anything of note either.
Take aways so far. Guendouzi looks really good, might have a real prospect there. Strong, smart, good on the ball and shown some good passing. Aubameyang has to play ST, this is a really weak Atletico side and we have not been producing chance after chance and he has not been getting into the areas you want him to. The chances Lacazette was getting you want to fall to Aubameyang and you want his pace right down their middle. If you want pace out wide buy a winger. Nelson looked good, faded though. Holding still just seems far too inexperienced.… Read more »
First half thoughts I like the look of Smith Rowe and thought that Nelson and Guendouzi have done alright. Aubameyang continues to impress more from out wide than Lacazette does from a central position. Bad points well nothing looks like it’s changed 70-80% possession and we still concede q stupid goal. Shocking defending from Holding. But I gotta end on a positive Smith Rowe looks good
What everyone has to remember about Holding is that when we bought him he’d had 20 minutes first team football for Bolton. Since then he’s played under a manager who just didn’t do defensive work and had stopped developing players.
With that in mind I think it would be crazy to cast him aside to quickly, we have several players potentially in front of him so we have the luxury of time to see what Emery can do with him.
Bit harsh on Kolasinac there Kayciey
Lacazette proving that Deschamps was right not to include him in the France national team. Not my words.
Marc no one’s talking one extreme to another a bad mistake doesn’t mean we should sell him but he absolutely needs a loan and to play regularly and he absolutely shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team. Holding is 4th choice at best
Guendouzi looks decent. Apart from that just a typical preseason match. Can’t take away much, except Rob holding lacking any ability to defend and bellerins first touch really needs work. Glad to be interested in preseason for a change. I’m almost excited……….feels…weird
Marko
Agree but I’d like to see him play League Cup etc and see what Emery can do with him for a few months.
You know what some are like on here – think football’s like Championship Manager.
UTarse
Bit harsh on Kolasinac there Kayciey
His wing has been targeted and rightly so. All his forward runs has no end product. He should be a defender first….any other thing is secondary. He’s been poor to me.
What a cracker by Smith-Rowe.
1 – 1 Smith Rowe
Some goal.
What a goal…
Cheers for the Summary guys
Jeez, he looks a player.
Smith Rowe – brilliant goal
Can’t watch the game but from the comments, it’s disappointing that hector is looking shit. The Spanish connection with the coaching staff and a real need for him to have an improved season, maybe not off to a good start??
At least the Licht is waiting in the wings…
Great goal.
Brilliant finish from the lad. Henri Lansbury-esq one might say 😉
“Glad to be interested in preseason for a change. I’m almost excited……….feels…weird”
And what about a manager who’s not on his bench all the time, and who gives his orders to players ?? We’ve been waiting to see that for so long…
Well Smith Rowe just shut me the fuck up.
What a fucking goal and great footwork before it.
Hmmm
What a moment that will be for the 17 year old!
What a goal, better every time you watch it.
Brilliant goal
and thanks for the link Cesc good way out of me not doing any work!
