Mesut’s agent takes Trumpian approach to reputation restoration

DON’T LET IT AGITATE YOU.

Ivan G has STILL not come out to deny he’s Milan bound. Can you believe this guy?

Our old CEO, Arsene Wenger, left literally 3 months ago, Ivan gets his chance to choose the tint of the kitchen lampshades, and he’s fucking it trying to either get a pay bump… or to go to Milan.

IVAN THE LAST LAUGH WAS TO SUCCEED HERE, NOT BIN OFF A NEW PROJECT 3 MONTHS IN!

It sounds like his contract with AFC ends in September, it’s a crude way to negotiate more money, and hopefully that’s what it is. I really hate the idea that a new CEO has to work with and defend Ivan’s new plan… mainly because there’s a chance it could go badly wrong and you need a steady hand there willing to go to war for the new team.

The thing with new CEOs is they’re all into that 90-day plan shit. The new person will want to make an impression, they’ll need to make changes to show their teeth, and it could be very disruptive. At best it unsettles new people trying to concentrate on their job, at worst there will be actual disruption.

I will state again, this would be epically bad leadership and a totally bizarre decision.

On the flip side, for Ivan, coming into Milan in September gives him 3 months to see what a shit show the place is and start implementing changes in the Jan window. It’s logical to move in the quiet period.

Again though, why would you do it after being a bitch for 10 years?

Why would you do it to Le Grove after it backed you, despite people saying I was getting bribed?

Fucking disgraceful.

Aaron Ramsey has under 20 days left until the transfer window slams shut and he’s this seasons Alexis.

Don’t make us hate you.

My hope is we’re either giving him what he wants, or we’re shifting him on and preparing a mega move for Kovacic of Madrid.

Odd that there are no clubs linked to him. Reality for him is he’ll struggle to get £200k a week anywhere in Europe. The biggest potential payout he’ll get is with us, or if he leaves on a free next year. We cannot let that happen. Some money is better than a year of him protecting his body and playing with the proverbial handbrake on.

Tax cheat, Uli Hoeness ripped into Mesut Ozil in a quite astonishing attack.

“I’m glad this nightmare is over,”

“He’s been playing crap for years.

“The last tackle he won was before the 2014 World Cup. And now he is hiding himself and his poor performances behind this photo.

“His 35 million [social media] followers, that of course do not actually exist in the real world, ensure that Ozil has played exceptionally when he successfully finds his man with a square ball.”

“Whenever we played against Arsenal, we played over him, because we know he’s the weak point”

… was it over? No way, Mesut’s agent fired back with a ballistic missile.

“The comments of Mr Hoeness miss the point completely, as they have absolutely nothing to do with football. He is trying to divert attention away from the real issue, the issue of racism and discrimination in Germany, which is resurging once again within everyday German society.

“As Mesut said in his statement, he accepts reasonable and fair criticism of his football, and deals with that as part of the job. However, Mr Hoeness cannot even provide any actual evidence to back up his foolish statements that are clearly exaggerated. In this case, the stats are clear. Twenty-three goals, 40 assists – which is a German record – and five-time German player of the year – three of which come after 2014.

“Mr Hoeness, we will not waste any more time or energy talking about a subject clearly you know nothing about. Not only are you a disgrace to yourself, but also and more importantly a shame to Bayern Munich and the people of Germany.”

This whole conversation is basically what Arsenal fans have been doing for 5 years. It’s pretty amusing.

‘Ozil doesn’t tackle!’

‘HE MADE 200 PASSES IN 3 MINUTES’

‘He makes Arsenal weak!’

‘HE WON THE GERMAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR 9 TIMES’

‘He hides!’

‘LOOK AT THIS COMP OF HIM THAT PROVES EVERYTHING’

There are many that think his agent is fantastic (Arsenal fans), I’m not so sure. I’d argue that the Donald Trump approach to reputation restoration is not the smartest. It might feel cathartic in the moment, but the average Joe just sees a guy deflecting and not owning a mistake and shite World Cup. What exactly is the objective of this press? I can’t see it as anything outside disruption and revenge.

If I were advising him, I’d have suggested a Raheem Sterling like approach to restoring trust and love. Get people close to him to defend his honour in the media, be photographed outside refugee school you’re sponsoring to help integrate kids into Germany and do some thoughtful interviews that rehumanize you with the populace (when you’re a ghost in media, it’s very easy to demonise your character).

I’d also show some remorse for the picture. You can ‘what about’ it until the cows come home, sharp reality is the average Joe sees you standing tall with an abhorrent foreign leader just before a World Cup. That’s harsh imagery to erase, even if Merkel did just lift Turkish sanctions.

Anyway, that’s me done.

“Arsenal are without a number of their World Cup stars with the likes of Mohamed Elneny and Nacho Monreal on holiday following their exploits at Russia 2018. However Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil has returned early from his break and has linked up with the squad in Singapore, though is not expected to play on Thursday. ” Ozil did cut his break short to join the team. Good on him tbh. Hope he smashes it this season. In other news the Arsenal boys seem to be really bonding and Matteo is always at the thick of things. Fella a free spirit. Looking… Read more »

Hoeness was an accomplished German international in the seventies. He was part of the dominant German team with Franz Beckenbauer that won the 1972 Euros and 1972 WC. He accomplished a lot more for Germany than Ozil.
He knows a lot about players who play like they are allergic to making tackles.

CaliGooner

I wonder if since kroenke the younger got to England to “learn the business” that the writing was on the wall for Ivan and he started looking for other opportunities. Hard to get excited about another kroenke keeping a leash on the organization.

MJ, Cheers brother.

CA, I saw Iwobes. Didn’t see Neny maybe they are all there, maybe they aren’t. Maybe Ozil cut short his break or not. What I want is Ozil of first and Second season and it’s going to hinge a lot on Emery. So far the signs are good.

Dissenter, so you believe Ozil hasn’t won a tackle since 2014 because hoeness who is an accomplishes German international said it? smh

Ozil travelled with the team to Singapore having gone back to training early .
The reason Henry did not coach at Arsenal was that Wenger objected to his criticism of the club and effectively barred him

I agree though he needs a rocket up his arse and maybe Emery is the one to do it, Emery has to prove himself and that means he needs the players to perform.

Uli Hoeness is racicst old criminal and liar of biggest propotion. The Guy stole circa 300million from Germany taxpayers money and went to jail for couple of years.
I woudnt trust anything he says. His statement was just lies and attemp to redirect this racism case. What did Bayern players do in The world cup. He should Be talking about his Bayern players and why they were so bad also not single out Özil.

If Ozil didn’t play for Arsenal, would any of you be defending him so avidly. I wonder why Boateng or Rudiger [both of whom have parents that weren’t born in Germany] aren’t in the cross-hairs. Ozil could have played for Turkey as well as Germany when he was a youth player. I recall Turkey made overtures to him. Ask yourself why he chose Germany over Turkey? Could it be because of the commercial advantage that being a German international confers? I guess to whom much is given, much is expected. Talk about wrong and then wrong again.

Ozil returned to training at the same time as other players who went out at the group stage.

Henry was refused a job coaching at Arsenal because he refused to give up his Sky punditry job and the club felt that he had to choose between the two.

I sincerely hope that TH14 succeeds, should he become the new Aston Villa manager.

They say that great players do not necessarily make great managers, but it would be extra special to see him prove his many doubters wrong.

Imo, as an Arsenal fan, the guy can do no wrong.

A win win situation as far as I’m concerned.

Think of all the players he could attract and the brand of Football in store for the Villa fans.

A great club deserves a great guy.

Good luck Thierry.

Hoerness helped Germany win the Euros and the WC, period. He has his career truncated by injury at 29 years old and went on to have a successful career in football management.

Keep trying to devalue his contribution

Dissenter

‘And Ozil is the German embarrassment?”

You are free to argue against yourself since no one has suggested this.

Ozy

Well, thanks for dismissing everything I said to reiterate the same point. Ozil helped Germany win the world cup in 2014. I wonder why Hoenes is considered a German legend and Ozil is not? May it have something to do with the very thing that sparked this entire debate?

From what I’ve seen in social media, German fans aren’t all too fond of Hoenes. He should focus on his Bayern players (8 at this WC where Germany bombed) instead of trashing on Ozil.

There is no doubting that Hoeness is a pretty despicable individual.

What I’m trying to say is that you can’t compare the two.

Hoeness is still a wanker though.

Emiratesstroller

Ozy Well said reading some of the tripe written about Ozil you would think that he is an unpatriotic rogue and a shocking footballer. He is neither.
