Crazy free transfer situation + Progress on dream defensive midfielder

by .

There are two approaches you can take to getting what you want in life. One is to work hard and make it happen with positive vibes, the second is to bitch, moan and palm off your failings onto things outside of your control. I demonstrated Stan C’s approach yesterday. Then this story crossed my lap yesterday by Sol Campbell. This is how he signed off the story.

Competition for jobs as a manager is fierce, I know that. So how do you get that first opportunity? I’ve asked myself that a lot.

Is it through friends? Is it through a good agent? Or is it down to timing? Maybe it’s all three.

One thing I know for sure is that I want to be in that environment – win, lose or draw. I want to build a new career. I want to compete again.

Yes, I’ve had knockbacks. But if it’s worth fighting for, you have to go for it. I’ve always known that.

That my friends is how an adult uses the media to deliver a message. Work hard, get your head down, and know that you’ll be rewarded with a chance at some point. It took me well over a year of knocking down doors to land in the industry I wanted to work in. Sol Campbell has a lot more security than most of us who chase our dreams do, and I’ve no doubt he’ll land his chance.

In other news, Sporting Lisbon is dealing with a nightmare at the moment. Fernandes, Carvalho and Gelson Martins are all applying to terminate their deals after being attacked by their own fans at their training ground (and you thought plane banners was the worst that could happen in football).

Arsenal have apparently offered twice this summer for the electric right winger, Sporting rejected the bids, now they might lose him on a free.

The guy did give me a hit of Gervinho to the veins when I first saw him, but look, he’s 23 years old, he has a lot to learn and he has some sexy tricks in locker. He scored 13 and assisted the same amount last season. Worth a punt on a free?

Torriera is still creating headlines in Italy. Sampdoria press reckon he’s Arsenal bound, so do the folk at The DM. Funny that they’re rolling with ‘Arsenal need to spread the cost’ because they’re on a budget. How folk who write about football for a living don’t know that nearly all clubs spread the cost of transfers over the period of the contract is beyond me. Anyway, he’d be a fucking amazing move for the club. I don’t even care that he’s 5ft5. He’s a proper defensive midfielder.

… latest is Di Marzio is now saying he wants Arsenal and he won’t be staying in Italy. GOOD TIMES.

Yacine Adli is playing games between PSG and Arsenal, nothing is done yet, so we’ll wait and see where that lands. He’d be a coup for Emery if he did opt for us, and there’s no doubt he’d get more chances in our first team than theirs. We’ll see though!

Right, quick one from me today, tune into our amazing podcast or I’ll send Stan Collymore round your house to tell you off about your lack of mojo.

We talk about transfers, Sol Campbell, and general excitement about where the club is heading.

Don’t get that the players can just break contracts this could ruin football. They are an asset they can’t just leave surley

  2. Thanos

The kind of players we are going for are the ones we have all been saying we need. Proper holders and CB no more strikers and no 10,s

  3. HighburyLegend

So the Adli deal is not even done, but many Grovers have said welcome to him…
I don’t like players who play “games”, while they have prove nothing so far – most of the tim encouraged by their greedy parents.

But hey, maybe some things never change at the AFC.

  4. Leftsidesanch

I got a feeling that we’re not in for the Sampdoria midfielder, there’s not much been much from any reputable sources

  5. gambon

Get the feeling Sol Campbell is not the smartest cookie in the world. That may hold him back from getting a big job.

  6. HighburyLegend

“Real Madrid are considering Andre Villas-Boas to replace Zinedine Zidane because he got the best out of Gareth Bale at Tottenham.”

Sorry, it’s from The Sun!! lol

  7. MrT

Put your head down boy, knuckle down. You seem to be missing the point. If it took you a year , inherent bias and prejudice makes it more likely to take a black man banging on doors forever. He’d have to break his knuckles knocking on those doors. Yes a few come through but compared to the talent and potential of qualified black ex players out there it takes the biscuits for Stan C’s point to be reduced to yeah yeah he got an attitude. Imagine Roy Keane were black 🙂 . I know he hasn’t achieved as much as Roy Keane. But let’s not pretend black people and white people are put on the same scale. Look at Raheem Sterling v Roony , you think sterling would shag a grandma hooker and make the England team talk less captain? Many people who don’t and will never experience what black people go though can always say “yes but…” . Many of them will never understand. Some only get it when they see it in its poignancy. Yes Stan C may have not sent his message the way we all wanted but his message is bigger than the shit stained envelope. We are not ready for a message when we take umbrage at the envelope.

As I wrote when Arsenal parted company with Wenger the club is a complete
rebuild job from top to bottom of the club.

The management structure needed proper structure and fresh expertise. Since November that has been the priority with appointment of Sanhelli, Mislintat and Emery. Last week the final piece in the jigsaw was completed with a new football director to run the club’s Football Academy.

The second stage was the dismantling of the over bloated staffing at the club
including coaches. Most of Wenger’s staff have now gone including coaches.
Only Steve Bould and Jens Lehmann remain, but one suspects the former could leave particularly if he loses his assistant manager role. The U23 coaches appear also under review following allegations of bullying.

So we come to the playing personnel. The club has already announced nine
departures and one suspects that at the end of the summer another nine or
ten could be leaving once new Head Coach and Academy Director has had
    opportunity of making assessments.

Insofar as the First Team Squad I would guess that we might lose the following:

GOALKEEPERS Ospina and Martinez. We need a new starting eleven goalkeeper to replace Cech. Ospina can generate a transfer fee whilst Cech won’t.
There needs also to be a decision made about the third string. I would guess that Macey is now rated ahead of Martinez so the latter could also be offloaded.

FULL BACKS I don’t see any further additions following arrival of Lichsteiner. Jenkinson is surplus to requirements and should be offloaded.

CENTRE BACKS The club needs two new players. One suspects that the signing of Sokratis has been finalised. Messrs Mustafi, Chambers, Holding and Mavropanos are either not experienced or not good enough for starting eleven. Koscielny is out until New Year. My guess is that Mustafi and Bielik
could be offloaded and Holding perhaps loaned out for experience.

CENTRE/DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS. Decisions on replacement[s] this summer will depend on whether Ramsey and Wilshire renew contracts. Personally I see no logic in keeping Wilshire. At best he will be a bench player. Both
Ramsey and Xhaka will play ahead of him. Ideally the club needs a midfielder
who is more disciplined and defensively better than these two. Torreira seems
    the option. Wilshire to leave.

WINGERS. The club does lack a conventional winger. Iwobi is on paper a left
winger, but does not have the pace or crossing ability to be a top player in that
position. Nelson is likely to be promoted from U23 squad. My guess is that
Arsenal will make do with current resources this season. Martins will not
be coming to the club, because of the complexity and uncertainty of his situation. Campbell to leave.

STRIKERS. We are not short of options. Both Aubameyang and Lacazette are
recent arrivals and class players. I don’t see either leaving. Nkietah needs to
be promoted to squad. This leaves questions whether Welbeck should stay or
leave. He does add value to squad, because of his versatility and work ethic,
but as a conventional striker I would rank him potentially fourth string next
season. Peres and Akpom should be offloaded. There is no future for either at

  9. Rambo Ramsey

Guys, guys, I was on the train and this man comes up and asks me to scooch. I was very comfortably seated and then had to get a little uncomfortable thanks to the White Supremacist’s demand.

    Can I claim racism yet?

  10. Dream10

Not a priority need , but We haven’t been linked to a senior left back this window. Not sure Monreal can be counted on to give us 25-30 quality PL starts from now on. Had a few dodgy performances last season. Sadly, think he will regress with injury/form issues like Larry Koscielny has. Would rather young AMN be the deputy. Kolasinac is a bad signing. In his prime, mid 20s, with little upside, particularly in a back four.

Any news on the Wilsh yet? If he renews, what is the likelihood of signing Torreira or another cm? Hope he doesn’t stay on.

  11. Champagne charlie

Are you one of these bury your head types when it comes to racism?

All I’ve seen you claim is that any talk of it comes from social justice warriors, now you’re mocking every situation as being racially charged.

Either way you come across as an insufferable loon.

  12. Emiratesstroller

    Dream 10

I don’t see Arsenal bringing in more than one Central/Defensive Midfielder unless both Ramsey and Wilshire leave. My guess Wilshire will go.

Remember Maitland-Niles needs to be given more game time next season.

  13. Rambo Ramsey

Obviously what right does an Asian like me have to come in here, a UK domain, and share my views? Look at the oppression above.

Shame on you, you ignorant bigoted racist.

  14. Dissenter

Seems you’re trying to drive up the comments by throwing out race baiting divisive issues.

  15. Guns of Hackney

    FFS another race riot.

Get a grip guys and keep it light. We’re here to moan about Arsenal and Wenger…STILL!!!

On the subject of Arsenal…I’m still concerned about the deafening silence on signings. I mean, we can’t even nail down the Sokratis deal. Come on, it’s £16m not a Messi buyout clause.

    Same shit, different day.

  16. Dissenter

“Any news on the Wilsh yet? If he renews, what is the likelihood of signing Torreira or another cm? Hope he doesn’t stay on”

It’s unlikely that Wilshere is staying on.
I suspect we’ll see him in a Westham short signing a contract wit them on July 1st. He’s had ample time t9 show the Arsenal love he’s always boasted about.

  17. gambon

    Sokratis is done, no doubt.

It looks like Torreira and Soyuncu will be done.

    Things are looking up.

Only worrying thing is we havent really had many links to goalkeepers, which for me is by far the most important signing we need to make.

  18. Guns of Hackney

If that little bastard Wilshere wants to leave, I’ll drive him. But he’ll have to go in the boot as I wouldn’t want him on the seats.

  19. gambon

Wilshere hasnt been good enough for Arsenal for a long time. Not sure why people really care about him staying.

Look where he ends up, that will tell you all you need to know.

  20. Buckhurst Gun

“I was very comfortably seated and then had to get a little uncomfortable thanks to the White Supremacist’s demand. Can I claim racism yet?”

    Fucking idiot

  21. Guns of Hackney

Let’s hope you’re right…just not sure why arsenal aren’t making it official.

Must agree on the GK situation. Cech is not a top four keeper anymore. This has to be our big outlay to get us a genuine GK.

Even keepers are now £30m minimum so I hope we have the funds.

  22. Bamford10

Agreed. Sokratis is done, and things are looking up. There’s this little thing going on called the World Cup which might be getting in the way of transfer activity. I imagine we’ll see the bulk of that activity between July 10 and August 9.

  23. Guns of Hackney

Wilshere is a Bournemouth bench warmer.

    He’s had 45 mins in a decade. That’s it.

Get him gone. Save the £100k and get a fucking GK.

  24. Bamford10

This has already been mentioned, but Dortmund apparently don’t want it made official until July for accounting reasons. Has something to do with how you present such sales on your books in financial statements.

  25. Dream10

We’re in desperate need for at least one starting level CM, if not two.
Last yr we started off with:

first XI material: Xhaka, Ramsey, Cazorla
Squad material: Ox, Jack, Elneny, Coquelin

Cazorla was broken, Ramsey injury prone. We were left w/ one starting level CM for a couple of months. Coquelin, Ox sold meant Jack got more time. We were atrocious when Jack played against any team with intensity

AMN replaces Coquelin + Ox as a spare CM/fullback (he’ll get plenty of action at fullback as Monreal & Kolasinac are squad level players) We need at least one more CM who can start 40 matches a season. We’re not making the top four if a Xhaka + Elneny/Jack/AMN pairing play similar or more minutes than a Xhaka + Ramsey pairing.

  26. Guns of Hackney

Glad to see it isn’t just me hiding from the HMRC.

As for waiting for the World Cup to end. Disaster.

One good game and player x price goes up by £20m.

And there I was thinking our dream team was a signing/contract machine.

  27. gambon

Have to give Gazidis credit, he has implemented enormous change in the last 12 months. He now just needs to sort our mess of a commercial department out.

    In the last year:

    New Director of Football
    New Head of Scouting
    New Director of High Performance
    New Head Coach
    New Director of Football Development
    New Head of Academy
    New Head of Academy Operations
    New U23 coach

The change is significant. Even if half of them dont work out, the fact that we have a proper & modern structure, means we can replace those who arent good enough.

  28. Bamford10

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but Freddie Ljungberg has been made the new coach of the u-23’s.

  29. Rambo Ramsey

”I’m assuming Rambo works as a trolley dolly on the train”

    Nah, I empty the trolleys.

Anyway I see that your social justice service doesn’t extend to feminism. Thank fvck.

  30. Paulinho

    Interesting Ljungberg coming back.

By all accounts he spent the last year slating Xhaka as a pundit on Swedish TV.

  31. gambon

“By all accounts he spent the last year slating Xhaka as a pundit on Swedish TV.”

At least we know he has good knowledge.

  32. Dream10

You’re more confident on signing Torreira than I am. Happy if it goes through. Don’t know much about him, but I like the fact we’re signing a new CM. Not worried if he doesn’t work out.

  33. Bamford10

Well, it starts on Thursday, so it’s a little late to worry about that. However, Torreira looks more or less done, and Sokratis and Lichsteiner are done. That leaves a GK signing, an additional potential CB signing (Soyuncu), an RB signing (Klostermann?) and a potential wide player (Martins?) signing.

While I agree that player valuations can jump after the WC, I’m not sure this will be that big of a problem for us when you look at the players we seem to be interested in. Leno isn’t there, Soyuncu isn’t there, Martins has a buyout clause, etc.

  34. Emiratesstroller

    Dream 10

My guess is that Torreira will be brought in as a Defensive Midfielder and that
Ramsey if he stays will be first choice Central Midfielder.

Xhaka will be able to play both Defensive and Central Midfield roles as replacement for both

The club needs basically three first choice players for the number of games
    we play each season.

Our two bench players are likely to be Maitland-Niles and Elneny.

That should be sufficient for two positions in central/defensive midfield.

  35. Emiratesstroller

Yes I agree that our commercial sponsorship was sub par when compared to
    Manchester and Chelsea.

However, there are signs that we are improving in that Department.

The real test will come when we negotiate this season a new kit sponsorship.
By all accounts that is likely to be with Adidas.

Arsenal’s real problem is that we are not playing in Champions League at moment. If our performance does not improve next season it will impact on the
    sponsorship deal we achieve.

The Emirates deal may not be on same scale as Man Utd but it is longstanding
and reflects probably our current status.

We seem to have increased our shirt sponsorship deals by £20 million pa if
you factor in the sleeve and that is at least a progression.

  36. Dissenter

Wenger was an all encompassing ompinpotent manager. I hear he fuc*ed elephants for fun during his lunch breaks.
He was a Jack of all trades and horrible master of none in the last decade.
    I believe he thought all these were part of his work description;
    Director of Football
    Head of Scouting
    Director of High Performance
    Head Coach
    Director of Football Development

  37. KAY Boss

please no racial comments today. let’s all stick o football. it’s becoming boring discussing them. reading some comments and it seems had some of u being in charge of our transfers, 80% of the squad would be sold and we’ll end up with a ‘shitter’ bench. yeah some players ain’t good enough but it doesn’t mean most must go. it’ll take years to build a solid team. I’m happy we’re moving in a different direction now.

  38. Emiratesstroller

Just seen from Arsenal and Jeorge Bird websites that Freddie Ljungberg has been appointed new U23 Coach.

That is an interesting development and shows that Arsenal are encouraging
ex players to join the coaching staff.

  39. Bamford10

So you think Ozil will be the CAM? Whom do you have as the two starting wide players? Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang?

  40. Dissenter

It seems Madrid are bringing AVB out of his premature retirement. Wasn’t the dude driving rally cars on the Paris-Dakar rally?

  41. Josip Skoblar

Still can’t get excited about any of the player(s) we have signed or are attempting to sign… Sorry.

  42. Emiratesstroller

    Bamford 10

Yes I do think that Ozil will be staying at the club and playing AMF. Mkhitaryan can operate as alternative as and when required. Also Iwobi on evidence of second half performance against England can play there as well.

I doubt there are plans to offload Ozil this summer.

If we bring in a quality Defensive Midfielder to play alongside Ramsey or Xhaka the dynamics and balance of team do change and will help Ozil.

  43. Rambo Ramsey

BREAKING: Sky sources: @FulhamFC interested in signing @Arsenal defender @CalumChambers95

    Excellent. Sell,sell,sell.

  44. Marko

If we bring in a quality Defensive Midfielder to play alongside Ramsey or Xhaka the dynamics and balance of team do change and will help Ozil

Ah yes that’s what he needs to improve his input a defensive midfielder. It was defensive responsibility that caused him to only score about 5 goals and 8 assists. I believe that given Ozil’s age and attitude the last few years at this club nothing’s going to change with the lad. He’s just got no fight or desire at club level anymore

  45. Bamford10

You didn’t answer my other question, though: whom do you then see starting wide? Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan?

Why not play Ozil wide instead, play Xhaka alongside Torreira, and play Ramsey as the CAM? Just curious.

  46. Vintage Gun

“BREAKING: Sky sources: @FulhamFC interested in signing @Arsenal defender @CalumChambers95”

Sky sources ain’t what they used to be but if true then due to him recently penning a new deal coupled with the English premium i can see us getting enough to cover the costs of the Torreira deal.

Plus it fits in with reports we’re closing in on Sonucyu

  47. Freddie Ljungberg

If we can get 20-25m for Chambers we should definitely sell (turned down 22m last year) add Mustafi to that and our 2 new CBs are basically free.

Ozil playing on the wing impacted his output last year, he’s not a winger, Ramsey is not a very good CAM.

A Torreira Ramsey base could work in most games if Ramsey gets told to stay back a bit more.

Still think we need one more defensively minded CM even if we get Torreira and Ramsey is staying. There are to many games in a season to only have 2 capable starter in those positions. No I’m not counting Xhaka…

  48. Victorious

    Dumbo Rambo

    Fuck off

Coming up with such pathetic attempt of making a joke about something as sensitive as racism, you really haven’t got a clue what the real world looks like…

or more likely you must be 12/13?..grow up u plank

  49. Marko

Why not play Ozil wide instead, play Xhaka alongside Torreira, and play Ramsey as the CAM? Just curious.

Ozil isn’t a wideman not worth shoehorning him wide just to find space for Ramsey besides Mhiki is better CAM than Ramsey. I mean if you don’t want to sign a proper winger so that we can play Ramsey then fair enough but I’d prefer actual balance

  50. Marko

I’d sell Chambers Holding is still young enough to improve probably needs a loan to improve too while Calum at about 24 should be pushing to start. I can’t trust him enough. Him and Mustafi should be the ones sold

  51. Bamford10

I agree that pairing Torreira with Ramsey (w/ Ozil as the CAM) could work, but a lot of people here don’t trust Ramsey in that role. They think he would get forward too much and leave Torreira with too much work to do.

  52. Victorious

how about you share with us latest on the bindippers transfers?who’s their next target?….and which players are we to bring in so you can run your dick measuring commentary?

  53. Dissenter

Let’s sell Chambersand keep Mavros Pediatricupolois and Socrates Geriatricopopus.
    I guess it’s a Greek love thing.
So we’ll run out of ink to print the names on their jerseys.

  54. Dream10

The Fulham interest in Chambers goes back to last year, as they wanted to sign him for their promotion push. Believe Middleborough and Palace we’re interested as well. Good move for him since he will play everyday. Holding should be next one out. Reckon he’ll stick around for another year as he signed a contract extension till 2022. Don’t think he’s a top half level player

  55. Bamford10

“Ozil isn’t a wideman not worth shoehorning him wide just to find space for Ramsey.”

Right, except that my comment to Emirates had nothing to do with “finding space for Ramsey”. I was actually thinking about other things. Regardless, if Ramsey signs the contract on offer from the club, he’s going to be in the XI. That’s a certainty, whether you (or anyone else) like it or not.

The question in that regard thus becomes: if Ramsey signs his contract, where should he play? Alongside a Torreira as a holding mid / CM? Or in front of a Torreira and Xhaka, as a CAM of sorts?

That’s the question I’m trying to highlight — but for reasons, again, that have little to do with Ramsey (whom I’m pretty confident will be signing his contract and in our XI next season).

  56. Freddie Ljungberg

I’m not sure he can be trusted either, but if we’re keeping him he better learn some discipline, Ozil and Mikhi are both better CAMs than him.

Would prefer Ramsey , Torreira + a Doucoure/Rabiot(linked yesterday again)
with Xhaka out. Would give us much more balance and some genuine options in midfield for the first time in ages.

  57. Moe

    CC, Mr.T, Buckhurst,

Thank you for reaffirming my believe in humanity and plain old decency towards each other’s POV.

Some things are more important than kicking a ball into a net.

  58. Bamford10

That’s reasonable; I can see that. Whom do you then see playing wide? Do you see Aubameyang playing wide? Or do you think we need to sign a wide player so that we can start Aubameyang through the center?

  59. Emiratesstroller

    Bamford 10

Arsenal could be playing next season 55 games + so that we need some level of
flexibility who is playing in starting lineup in games.

Aubameyang is more than capable playing wide as well as a striker. Ozil and
Mkhitaryan can play as AMF or in wide positions.

We do not need a conventional RW, because Bellerin is playing RWB.

What I feel changes next season is that with the arrival of Aubameyang and
Mkhitaryan in January and hopefully Torreira this summer we will have decent options in all midfield and forward positions.

Arsenal’s problems last season was that we did not know until around April
whether Aubameyang could play with Lacazette. Also Aubameyang was prevented from playing in Europa League and Mkhitaryan was prevented from
    playing in domestic cup competitions.

My real concern with our squad remains the same as it was in last two seasons. Arsenal lacks world class players in GK and CB positions. When you
look at Transfermarkt Rankings and Valuations none of our players in those
positions would make top 25 in the World.

That is unlikely to change next season on the evidence of the rumours circulating. Arsenal’s weakness last season was our defence. Will recruitment of
Sokratis, Souyunku and possibly Leno change the dynamic?

  60. Freddie Ljungberg

I can see Auba playing wide in some games when we need more firepower up top with Laca coming in up top.

I don’t want to see that from the start in too many games though.
Plenty of opportunities for both of them to play even if they don’t play at the same time, it’s a long season, injuries and a loss of form happens, now we’re more equipped to handle that.

We need a winger seeing as we have the sum total of 0 in the squad.

  61. Marko

Your Regardless, if Ramsey signs the contract on offer from the club, he’s going to be in the XI. That’s a certainty, whether you (or anyone else) like it or not.

What is also a certainty is that we’ll never compete for major honours with such a player being given such a key role.

That’s the question I’m trying to highlight — but for reasons, again, that have little to do with Ramsey

If you’re shipping your two best CAM’s out wide so Ramsey can play CAM because he can’t be trusted to play CM then everything has to do with Aaron. And the whole new contract building a team around him stuff well it’s not like a club especially ours to make a mistake is it. And making Ramsey such a key player would be a mistake.

  62. Marko

We do not need a conventional RW, because Bellerin is playing RWB.

This is quite incredible really. Yeah fuck signing up a RW we’ve got a RB who for about two seasons now has been bang average and whose forward play is so basic it’s funny.

  63. Emiratesstroller

    Freddie Ljungberg and Bamford 10

Ramsey is not by his own admission an AMF. He claims to be a box to box player.

However, as we know he has a habit of being out of position too often in games
and Xhaka whilst a competent CMF lacks also agility and defensive skills.

The arrival of Torreira should improve the situation, because in certain games
it will be critical to have a solid DMF. In other games we can afford the luxury
of playing two CMF Ie Xhaka can play alongside Ramsey as he did last season.

  64. Marko

Seems like Leno might be off to Napoli might regret that one. If we end up with Cillessen Minslintat should be sacked immediately. He’s that bad

  65. Rambo Ramsey

Victorious, sorry I was mentored by Yaya Toure and Stan Collymore.

Take it up with these esteemed champs

  66. Kevin

Why are you insecure about Liverpool and Klopp? Why can’t you admit they are world class club with one of the best managers in the game.

  67. Emiratesstroller

This might confirm what my journalist friend suggested two weeks ago.

That Arsenal do not plan to change the goalkeepers this summer.

It would be a concern for me, but other posters including Pedro appear less

  68. Kevin

I don’t get the Ramsey love here he is just a little better than Wilshere. We should get rid of him as well.

  69. Vintage Gun

I’d sign Ramsey up as long as him/his agent aren’t being too greedy due to the fact that he’s only really worked under Wenger at club level. And iv’e heard (rightly or wrongly) that it was a Wenger tactical plan to have Ramsey ‘Flood the box’ ALL the time.

If he still can’t curb his Roy of the Rovers mentality come next season then drop him and sell

  70. gambon

Would hate to see Aubameyang playing wide just to accomodate Lacazette.

You dont sign one of the worlds best CFs then put them on the wing.

No-one ever suggested putting Henry wide in order to play Wiltord up front.

  71. Kevin

Ramsey is a brainless selfish clown who has no idea how to play as a midfielder he is always running of to play as striker we need to get rid of him.

  72. Marko

This might confirm what my journalist friend suggested two weeks ago.

Or it probably means that we’ll end up with a worse keeper than Leno later in the window. I’d bet my house that we will sign up a keeper this summer. No way Cech plays that bad and is kept as number one.

  73. Kevin

Auba can’t play as striker in Prem he gets bullied. He is best of as inside forward playing like Alexis. Laca is better at playing as striker as he is much more psychical striker.

  74. Marko

Torreira would be a good signing. A bit of South American cajones added to our pussy midfield. Very good deal this. Somewhat sceptical of Pellegrino and Seri links and absolutely didn’t want Praet

Laca all season long scored 14 league goals. Auba since February scored 10 in 13 league games. Soooo….

  76. Kevin

What do you mean one of the worlds best CF not even the best in the league. Kane, Firmino, Aguero are better.

  77. Marko

Even Liverpool are after Cillisen Don’t think there is better keeper than him available

He’s shite. He’s as bad as Karius

  78. gambon

Maybe we’re keeping our powder dry for a big keeper.

    If we sign

    Lichsteiner £0
    Sokratis £15m
    Soyuncu £30m
    Torreira £25m
    Martins £0

    And sell

    Ospina £5m
    Martinez £3m
    Jenkinson £2m
    Chambers £20m
    Perez £10m
    Welbeck £20m

Then we will have a net spend of £10m.

Leaving room for a top top keeper, maybe an Allison or Oblak.

Probably not true, and all dependent on Martins story being true, which im sceptical about.

  79. Leedsgunner

Campbell is going to be offered a contract by Galatasaray and he goes on a free. Another pointless signing. I remember in 2014 when he put in some decent performances AC Milan offered £12m for him. Should have sold him then…

Oh well… another one off our books and wages.

  80. gambon

Aubameyang has 110 goals in his last 133 games.

He is absolutely world class, its not up for debate.

  81. Marko

Maybe you’ll get your wish of Pavlenka being signed gambon. Can’t imagine that we don’t sign a keeper and can’t imagine that we’d let a obvious bargain like Leno go unless we had someone else in mind. And Sven loves to shop in Germany

  82. Kevin

Yes it is he can’t perform in big games even for Dortmund he went missing. Also if he is so good why did only Arsenal were after him?

  83. Champagne charlie

Agree totally, the state of some on here throwing their arms about football but trying to quell genuine issues worthy of chat. This is a football blog, yesterday’s race discussion was born from issues of race in football. Absolutely the space for it.

    In other news…

Sky Sources showing their hand as per, running a “breaking news” banner about Torreira with two week old info. Useless

  84. Freddie Ljungberg

Ospina is sure to be off this summer after wanting to leave for 2 years. That leaves us with an over the hill Cech and Martinez and Macey that are not even ready to be a nr 2.

We’re buying a keeper, only question is what caliber.

I would be happy with Lafont if we’re not going top shelf, he at least has the potential to be world class and would sort that position for a looong time. Perfect time to do it now with Cech bejng able to play a few games still and mentor him.

  85. Dissenter

    I hope you’re not implying that we don’t need to bring players in. This transfer window is different for multiple reasons;
-It is too short [ends at the beginning of the season]
-There’s a new manager with new staff and methods who needs time to pass on his message.
-The preseason starts in 3 weeks. We are running of time.

Our situation is precarious because it’s a transitional period in which everything has to go right for us to stand a chance to make up the big gap between us and fourth place.
Frankly you should be concerned about the slow pace of transfers.
The other managers in the top-6 zone have the advantage of continuity, we don’t.

  86. Dissenter

“Don’t want Gelson another Gervinho rather get Leon Bailey”

I suppose Gelson rhymes with Gervinho for you, because that’s where the similarities end

  87. Marko

Sky Sources showing their hand as per, running a “breaking news” banner about Torreira with two week old info. Useless

They usually don’t report on something unless it’s close to being completed. it’s like Ornstein’s tweets he’s no oracle he literally reports on stuff that is so blatantly going to happen

  88. Leedsgunner

He’s 18… and yes, he’s had a great season but £50m? Come on.

By the way, that is Sessagnon’s valuation at transfermarket at the moment.

  89. Dissenter

“The other managers in the top-6 zone have the advantage of continuity, we don’t.”

…oops. I forgot that Chelski don’t have a manager nor DoF, which is why they are playing Europa league at the moment.

  90. Dissenter

Fulham would be daft to let go of Sessagnon for anything less than 50 million.
The transfermakt value isn’t relevant because Fulham don’t have to sell their best player knowing well that he’s a major reason why they may beat relegation.
They aren’t going to sell him. Their owner is a billionaire who doesn’t need the money.
Really, the kid is going to have a good season in the league. He does well, they stay up.

  91. gambon

    I mentioned this last week.

Pavlenka would be my choice of GK, but apparently he isnt available this summer. I would get talking to him now to line up a move next year.

Sign Fabianski as a stop gap. He would cost about £5m i hear, and was good last season.

When we sign a number 1 next year, Fabianski would be 34, perfect age for him to be our back up keeper for the next few years.

  92. Marko

AMN has signed a new contract.Think its just one midfielder coming in, Torreira probably

If Ainsley signing a new deal means that then we’re not a serious club. I like the lad but he’s a squad player at best. This team needs more than one player signed to sort out it’s midfield

  93. Dissenter

All the writing on the wall is that Wilshere is gone…not going…GONE.
I hope we move Elneny out as well for a tidy profit.

  94. Vintage Gun

It would make no sense for Fulham to sell Sessegnon this summer unless we’re talking crazy money. If he performs in the PL next season the crazy money on offer will seem normal,

He’s still a kid. i’d advise him to stay at Fulham and continue to develop, play and grow

  95. Kevin

Yup looks like they are trying to get top 4 at cheap. No ambition whatever like United, Spurs, City and Liverpool

  96. Dissenter

“If Ainsley signing a new deal means that then we’re not a serious club. I like the lad but he’s a squad player at best. This team needs more than one player signed to sort out it’s midfield”

I like your posts for the most part but damn….that’s not the ,most intelligent post you’ve pit up recently.
Renewing the contract of a 20 year old youth product who’s earned his squad place shows that we aren’t serious?
C’mon man, get off this hyper-reflexive state you’ve taken this transfer window.

  97. Dissenter

If there aren’t good keepers on the market.. or affordable [more like it], then b all mans sign Fabianski as a stop gap.
He’s better than Cech. Frankly, 16 starting goalies were better than Cech last season.

  98. Dissenter

I won’t be surprised when Sampdoria increase the price of Torriera after the world cup.
All they have to do is have another club join the bid to sign the player.

  99. Leedsgunner

Signing Ainsley isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength.

It means we are keeping our best youngsters from other clubs. Has Reiss Nelson and others signed their new contracts yet?

  100. Leftsidesanch

Sanchez won almost everything there is to win in Spain aside from the CL with Barca – not sure how that adds up to flopping…
