“Arsenal have moved to sign Marouane Fellaini and will hold talks with the midfielder on Wednesday.”

I’ve always loved his haircut.

My take on the Fellaini links are this, Fellaini and his agent have had talks with foreign teams and none of the are willing to agree to his financial terms or are dilly dallying over them. Agent offers him to Arsenal, we say “No thanks” and the agent tells the media that his client is in talks with Arsenal in a hope to force any interested clubs hand and also to make his client seem more appealing to the mid table teams. the good old “Well if Arsenal want him he must be worth it ” Fellaini is a good… Read more »

The Times have reported that Arsenal are due to hold talks with Fellaini on Wednesday.

French media report that Arsenal to meet Fellaini agent in London.

The new team pragmatic?

More like daft as brushes.

“Different manager, same shit ?”

Well let’s be honest if he is signed the main reason is that he is a freebie.

Club is skint is it?

Another freebie to go along with the old RB and Sokratis was cheap in today’s transfer market.

If you’re skint don’t compound it with buying unsuitable players.

Fellaini is a good player for teams that scrap. He’s not built for technical teams.

Spot on Vintage, he is a good player for the Everton’s of this world but not for Arsenal!

Ishola70

Is it true Emery wanted to sign Fellaini when he was at PSG?

Strike a light!

Ishola70

At least news is coming through as well that Arsenal are not interested in Fellaini.

Surely sanity will prevail in this.

R.S.P.C.Arsenal

My enthusiasm for the new season is slightly dwindling

I’m behind the new manager ….
but I think the mentally at the club is still staine£ with the wenger varnish of thinking …

Time will tell but if in doubt throw in youths …

WW

I’m with the consensus of disapproval of landing fellaini.
Aside from an impact sub that will stick his long neck out and head a goal in the last 10 minutes, I see no positives.
Except as well the nice thought that against man utd he may be fired up to kick some of the arrogant dicks that tend to play for them.

WW

I see emery doing 2 major strategies regarding new/current players. He will bolster the squad with experienced mature physically strong players to regain a strong backbone and to buy quality younger players to start the glorious future he is planning.

Champagne charlie

Various sources suggesting Adidas is our new kit sponsor from next season.

…and Lacazette was involved in the most goals of any Arsenal player in their debut season (38 games, 17 goals, 4 assists = 21). Underrated.

Same OLD STORY,but to-day,buying OLD rejects. We got rid of one of the Best Managers ,and I said before I repeat. THIS SEASON WE WILL BE FIGHTING FOR A 9 TH 10 POSITION

fact: we got rid of an ageing has-been that was a joke….a mr magoo of epic proportions. Give emery a chance….he won 3 on the spin europas with Seville…..that’s no mean feat…or is it?

Steveyg87

Fellaini addresses a glaring issue in our team, only reason you guys are resistant is because you see him next to xhaka. Let’s hope the manager agrees that xhaka is dog turd and sells him before he has a good world cup. put a decent DM behind him and someone that can actually control a football aka Rabiot next to him and we are cooking with gas. Hate to say it, but we are missing some of the dark arts in our team, you already know he brings that and he’s more than handy in the air

Marko

If he wasn’t linked with a move to us I’m pretty sure 99% of Arsenal fans would hate Fellaini because he’s such an obvious cunt. He’s a shite footballer too. Interesting to see if it actually goes through though. What will it say about what this club has become?

Steveyg87

“…and Lacazette was involved in the most goals of any Arsenal player in their debut season (38 games, 17 goals, 4 assists = 21). Underrated.”

I don’t think he’s underated on here, you hardly get a person on here bad mouthing him, that alone tells you a lot. I certainly hope Emery at least gives Auba and Laca a chance together, Lacazette playing off PEA could be potent!

Steveyg87

“If he wasn’t linked with a move to us I’m pretty sure 99% of Arsenal fans would hate Fellaini because he’s such an obvious cunt.”

Why is this a bad thing?

“He’s a shite footballer too.”

Mourinho makes Pogba look like a shite footballer too….

Doublethink

This Fellaini talk is worrying.

grooveydaddy

CC

That can’t be right re. Lacazette.

Henry scored 26 goals in his debut season.

Bergkamp had 16 goals + 8 assists.

Even Giroud probably bettered Laca’s numbers in his first season.

Steveyg87

“This Fellaini talk is worrying.”

If Emery gets his personal right,, he will be a revelation in this team

Marko

Stevey he is a shite footballer though. Does he even have a position? He hasn’t been able to hold down one for years. He’s basically made a career for himself by being good at long balls and throwing the occasional elbow. And that’s it. Should be targeting players who improve the starting 11. Would he improve the starting 11?

Marko

If Emery gets his personal right,, he will be a revelation in this team

With all due respect if Emery signs off on this signing he’s a fucking idiot. Benefit of doubt though until it’s announced

DM

Steveyg

“I don’t think he’s underated on here, you hardly get a person on here bad mouthing him, that alone tells you a lot.”

Not sure what you’ve been reading but I’ve seen dozens of comments on here stating he should be offloaded.

Marko

DM no one says he should be sold because he’s bad but more so because he’s second choice behind Auba and he could fetch some much needed funds for other areas. Definitely not underrated on here

gonsterous

laca Is worth the money. you do get people here shouting for him to be sold when there should be other scapegoats ahead of him…

Bamford10

I am going to continue to disbelieve in these Fellaini links. And I will cite Mark Irwin of The Sun: “The former Everton favourite is not regarded as an Arsenal player by many influential figures at the club and his salary expectations of £120,000-a-week plus a signing-on fee are seen as way too high.”

gonsterous

I don’t get why we have to sell someone who’s quality, will get you goals, is not a liability to the team and improves the team. where’s the logic in that ?

Freddie Ljungberg

Yaya Toure on a free and a 1 pound a week salary anyone? “Yaya has many offers from different countries, where they are ready to pay a lot of money,” the agent explained. “But we decided to dedicate the next season to Guardiola. And to prove and show the fans of Manchester City that Yaya has not finished with football. He is full of energy and wants to play this season in England.” “At a time when huge sums are being spent in England for the purchase of football players, I officially declare that Yaya is ready to move as… Read more »

Fellaini one of the most undisciplined player in EPL.

You do not sign such an undisciplined player to already go along with thick heads already in the side e.g. Mustafi , Xhaka.

Repeat: You do not sign such a player.

Bamford10

Gonsterous

Because he is a back-up and selling him would give us 45-50m to sign someone who could improve the XI. That is the logic of the argument. It’s really not that complicated, but please note that no one is even making this argument at the moment.

Bamford10

Emirates

You say that not signing a new GK would be a mistake, and I agree. But you didn’t say the same about your prediction that we will not sign a new midfielder. So, two questions: one, do you think it would be a mistake not to sign a new central midfielder? Two, why did we make a bid for Fabinho if we are not in for a new midfielder?

BacaryisGod

Interesting thought about YaYa. Give me the 35 year old Toure and put him at CB any day over a 30 year old Fellaini in midfield.

Guns of Hackney

If we get that twat with the hair…I can see him being deployed as a centre half, not a midfielder. Just a hunch.

Very, very uninteresting. A third season out of the CL is pretty much assured. Ozil, PEA will both be in their 30’s along with a 29 year old Ramsay and Wilshere?

No. Just no. Arsenal are going mid table for a bit.

Dissenter

I love the way the tabloids refer diligently toSo ratios as a 29 year old when everyone know he will be 30 years old on Saturday.
£16 million seems a tad too much for a soon-to-be 30 year old with one year left in his contract. The story is either false or the transfer fee is misquoted. We can’t be that daft wit our transfers.

Bamford10

“Doctors have confirmed Loris Karius suffered concussion in the UCL final that may have impacted his performance. It was caused by a Sergio Ramos elbow.”

Guns of Hackney

“We can’t be that daft wit our transfers”

Dissenter. Really? I’m going to suggest our transfers over the past decade have been some of the worst of the top six. We suck.

Replacing 30+ shit defenders with 30+ defenders seems amazingly poor.

Emery was not my pick and his work so far is making me a bit angry.

Bamford10

Some talk that Sane being left out might have had something to do with an arrogant attitude some thought he brought into the German camp.

Of the decision, Loew said the following:

“That was a very close decision between him and Julian Brandt, which was made in favor of Brandt. Draxler, Reus and Müller are set. Leroy is a huge talent, and he will be back again in September. He has not arrived in international matches yet, though. It was a very close decision. If it was a 100 metre race, it would have been a photo finish.”

Ishola70

Bamford

Karius made the same style goalkeeping mistake against Roma at home in CL in earlier round. The similarities were quite striking. But against Roma instead of pat-a-caking the ball into his own net from a shot from distance that he should have dealt with comfortably he pat-a-caked the long range effort onto the bar.

Do you think he was concussed against Roma as well?

HighburyLegend

“Emery was not my pick and his work so far is making me a bit angry.”

bamford

I’m sure you were one of the chaps shouting for ballotelli. sell laca, get 50m and then get a decent ST that will still cost u upward of 30m or get a 30 + st who we will have to replace again in a season. no logic behind this. unless you can name me a st who’ll get the goals and assist laca does but at half the price…

HighburyLegend

Karius seems to be always concussed…

PessimisticPat

Champagne Charlie

I think Henry has that record of most goals in a debut season

gonsterous

how about, don’t touch the STs so we don’t have another headache sorting it out, and focus instead in getting a CB and midfielder, by selling dross from other places in the squad…

Ishola70

Guns of Hackney “Arsenal are going mid table for a bit.” It’s a six team league and Arsenal are lagging badly behind atm of the six. Unlikely that Arsenal drop below 6th unless one of the midtable teams get taken over and get big money injection. If the unthinkable happens and Arsenal do even worse than Wenger’s poor last season in charge then early departure for Emery. He will be made the scapegoat but somebody would have to fall on the sword and take repercussions. If Emery and the new team finish 6th again but can’t even improve on overall… Read more »

Marko

Leroy is a huge talent, and he will be back again in September. He has not arrived in international matches yet, though.

Neither has Brandt

Bamford10

Ishola

I didn’t make any claims about Karius. I just passed along the news. I am well aware of the fact that he has made similar errors in the past, and note that the doctors said his being concussed “may” have affected his play. He may also simply be a poor goalkeeper.

Marko

Both have 15 appearances for Germany Sane has no goals while Brandt has one. Julian clearly has arrived on the international stage

Bamford10

Gonsterous

No, I wasn’t calling for us to sign Balotelli, though I did say Balotelli is a talent, something he showed again in the friendly against France the other night.

As for your q about alternative CF back-ups (if we were to sell Lacazette,) I’m not even going to expend energy on this as no one is even making this argument at the moment. Who cares. Why are you even bringing this up?

Ishola70

“I didn’t make any claims about Karius. I just passed along the news. I am well aware of the fact that he has made similar errors in the past, and note that the doctors said his being concussed “may” have affected his play. He may also simply be a poor goalkeeper.”

His GK mistakes are mental issues. It’s timid goalkeeping. Maybe Ramos should have whacked him harder on the head so he loses his timidity in goal.

Bamford10

Marko

Take it up with Joachim Loew. And there is more to playing in a World Cup side than scoring goals. Obviously.

Champagne charlie

Groovey/Pat

Think it was a “stat” made based on the league contribution alone. You know how numbers can be twisted to suit. That was a direct quote from Twitter.

PessimisticPat

Henry had 26 goals (in all comps) and 8 premier league assists in his debut season. Cant find assists stats for other competitions. Wright also got 26 goals in his first season, so Lacazette isnt even 2nd best.

PessimisticPat

nah Laca’s stats are for all comps. Twitter was wrong, lol im not shocked.

Marko

Bam if Sane hadn’t arrived on the international stage yet but Brandt had wouldn’t he have more appearances? Low just for whatever reason made a dumb decision on not selecting him

PessimisticPat

Saying all that its not exactly a bad season he’s had being only behind our 2 best goalscorers ever. And as for those saying we should sell him, jesus christ get a grip.

UTarse

Felaini talk is a wind up. Has to be.

Marko

Lacazette scored 14 league goals and 17 all comps either way not record setting

Bamford10

Marko Oh, you know for a fact that Loew should have taken Sane rather than Brandt? That Sane fits in better with the team and with Loew’s plans? Wow. You should apply to be German manager when Loew steps aside. Sorry, but just because you disagree with a decision or do not fully understand a decision, this does not make said decision a “dumb” decision. And please don’t bring up Wenger. So far, Arsenal are doing an Arsenal. I just don’t see anything that has thus far convinced me that Emery is anything else but a complete stooge. The players we are being linked with are an absolute joke writers dream. This is not top four material. Liverpool are going to be a weapon this season. A front of Firmino, Fekir and Mane is outstanding. Add in Keita and a new GK and that’s a team. I just don’t see us jumping two places when everyone above us will strengthen massively. I guess we’ll consolidate sixth and aim for seventh or… Read more »

Bam a manager any manager is open to criticism whether you have a chubby for him or not. He made a dumb decision not bringing an obvious talent and explosive player. Much like Deschamps made a dumb decision not bringing Rabiot. I’m sure that you have no problem critiquing Deschamps. It’s fine you’re infatuated with him its okay. Hey remember that time he scratched and sniffed…another dumb decision

Dissenter

What do you all think of this Neymar-to-Madrid rumors.
This lad is just ridiculing the transfer process. He’s is mega talented but if he thinks PSG will let him leave after paying a kings ransom for him, then he has to be stupid.
He’s condemned to PSG for as long as they are willing to put up with him. He’s owned by a nation state that does not need the money.

Marko

Loew was forced to make a difficult decision but knows very well what the fuck he is doing.

Pretty sure he’s not that good a manager its more this generation of German players are just that good. Howedes at LB in the last world cup and Gotze as a false 9 suggests he’s capable of dumb decisions

Vintage Gun

“Doctors have confirmed Loris Karius suffered concussion in the UCL final that may have impacted his performance. It was caused by a Sergio Ramos elbow.”

Liverpool looking to get a transfer fee for him then?

If he WAS concussed he’d have seen TWO Benzema’s and would have kicked the ball long instead of rolling it out to the real Benzema hoping that it was the illusionary one.

Dissenter

Bamford Are you suggesting that managers who have won the World Cup are immune from making idiotic decisions? There’s a reason the World Cup is very hard to defend, you know. This managers indeed make mistakes after a while. The decision to leave out Sane is bone headed, silly and frankly, idiotic. Note that I didn’t call the manager an idiot. Sane is by far the better player. I’ve seen Brandt play as well and he’s no where as dynamic as Sane. He hasn’t had the monster season Sane has had. Marko Yeah, this isn’t that interesting of a discussion, but I think Loew is actually quite a good manager and quite a smart guy. Yes, he has had good players, but Brazil had good players as well, and he beat them 7-1. Germany play brilliant football in part because of the system and style he has implemented there. It isn’t just a matter of good players. Saying otherwise is a bit like the dumb view one sometimes gets on here that managers do very little, that really it’s just a matter of the players, etc., a view I wouldn’t expect… Read more »

Lichtsteiner and Fellaini as new signings? Underwhelmed…

Eight years on, Ray Domenech has finally set the record straight in an interview to the French media: Domenech revealed that Nicolas Anelka never told him “Fuck off, son of a bitch” as reported at the time by L’Equipe. Anelka was pilloried for this incident and never played again for the French national team after the 2010 WC incident.

he has had good players, but Brazil had good players as well, and he beat them 7-1 Brazil haven’t had a good generation of players since the mid 90’s there capable of winning a world cup sure like Argentina are but nothing compared to the current generation of German players or the generation of Spanish players just before them or the French generation about to break through. Phil Scolari won a world cup as manager people question his ability all the time

Marko

Low not picking Sane after the season he had was idiotic. Reasons given as he’s not as good defensively or as flexible or hasn’t arrived on the international stage are idiotic excuses. He’s been doing a high press for Pep all season long. He can play anywhere across the front 3 so he is flexible and he’s got the same number of appearances as Brandt. Not just Brandt how does Draxler make the squad?

Marko

Bam you’re a very rigid person. Got no problem criticizing people you don’t like but any sort of criticism towards someone you fancy and its a step too far

Bamford10

Pessimistic If I believe the following things: 1. Lacazette is a back-up CF and not a first-eleven player. 2. We need a new first-eleven GK, CDM, CB and wide player. 3. We only have 50m to spend on transfers. Then it makes perfect sense to think that it might make sense to consider selling Lacazette. Again, this isn’t that complicated. Now, I get why some people find this talk irritating. One, some people here think Lacazette is just as good as (if not better than) Aubameyang. I disagree, but I guess one is entitled to that view.
