Thanks Bankz. Not sure sunning myself on the beach is quite a “pilgrimage” but yeah..

I won’t be here Thurs/Fri this week so it’s all yours

The weekend’s performance was a lesson on how Arsenal should be playing away from home against our main competitors.

You cannot win such games without correct balance and hard graft. The omission of the likes of Ozil and Walcott was the right decision.

I have a slightly different opinion to you about Sanchez. Yes he may be a selfish player playing for himself but he is a match winner and consistent goalscorer. Welbeck may be a grafter and cause opposition problems, but his
goalscoring ability is limited rather like Heskey.

Arsenal need more than one goalscorer in the team and I think that now Welbeck is out injured for four weeks we should play Sanchez alongside Lacazette.

Lacazette is not world class, but he is a good “team” player and a prolific goalscorer at league level and that is what we need. Arsenal are not going to spend £150 million+ on a World Class striker. When such players materialise
they go either to Real Madrid or Barcelona or to those clubs like PSG or Man
City who can afford to spend £300 million+ on transfer fee + contract. We cannot do that.

I expressed the view last week that Arsenal need to reduce their first team squad to 18 players who can play regularly in first team or sit on bench. Those
players know that they will get regular game time. Arsenal’s problem in recent
seasons has been that we had too many players “labelled first team squad players”. At least half were either not good enough or seldom played in first team.

Moving forward Arsenal are going to lose Sanchez and Ozil either in January or at end of season. The club needs to recruit players who will add value to first team, but are not mercenaries. Sanchez is not loyal to any club or team as
he has proven throughout his career and my suspicion is that Ozil is moving
    in that direction as well.

I disagree entirely with Pochettino’s view of FA Cup.

There are 5 potential trophies to be won each season excluding Community Shield. The league Cup is the least important followed by the Europa Cup which excludes all the best clubs in Europe and top teams in EPL.

English Clubs are seldom good or fresh enough to win Champions League these days. If we are lucky an EPL Club wins this trophy once in a decade.

The EPL Title is therefore the main trophy to be won followed by FA Cup. When you look at FA Cup winners in recent seasons they have come mainly from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd. These have been the top three teams over
last 20 years with only Man City making inroads in last six years.

  4. Charles

Looks like playing a B team on Thursdays is going to leave the A team a whole week to get well drilled for the weekend, something that didn’t happen while we were in the CL.

The League is ours to lose.

  5. HighburyLegend

“What do you do when the Carling Cup has been replaced by the Europa League?”

    YOU WIN BOTH!! (lol)
    (#wengerout)

  6. graham62

    Emiratesstroller

Totally disagree. Europa League far more important than FA Cup. CL spot up for grabs/higher standard of competition(irrespective of exclusion of most of the top tier teams). Man Utd/Sevilla/Chelsea/A Madrid/Porto prove this point.

  7. Carts

What I can say is this, Ramsey has put himself in a predicament, now. It’s no good playing like a absolute halfwit one week, then turning in a Gerard-esque performance another week.

It tells us that Ramsey lacks discipline and plays for himself. It’s also an indictment of Wenger’s lack of authority as well as on pitch leadership.

Would love to see Ramsey put in regular 7/10 performances, but sadly I’ve seen enough of him to accept defeat.

  8. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

    Ramsay playing well ?

Is it no coincidence that he is up for new contract talks ?

His playing well is his I’m still about plea to other clubs

  9. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

I too think that the prem is what the club must win .

    Then the europa cup

    Then the others

But for European less play the squad game .

But he won’t the selfish man

Have to disagree with you. Chelsea and Man Utd only took the Europa Cup seriously when they reached the latter stages of the competition. In the case of Man Utd it was only when it became clear that they would not finish in top 4 of EPL that Mourinho prioritised it.

The FA Cup is a trophy which has been won in last 20 years by just 7 clubs. These are:
    ARSENAL 7
    CHELSEA 5
    MAN UTD 3
    LIVERPOOL 2
    MAN CITY 1
    PORTSMOUTH 1
    WIGAN 1

Five of the seven winners would be considered major clubs when they won trophy.

Mr Pochettino may not take the trophy seriously, but I am willing to bet that if
Spurs reach the semis they will work hard to win it.

  11. Carts

    ES

Not making excuses for Mourinho, but Utd were the strongest team in the comp, from the jump.

When you look at who they played from start to finish, losing to any of those teams would’ve been inexcusable and unacceptable.

In other words, top 4 and the Europa League was the target, imho.

  12. Emiratesstroller

    Carts

Man Utd did not take the Europa Cup seriously until semi final when it was clear that they would not qualify via EPL.

They put out weakened teams and struggled against both Rostov and Anderlecht in last 16 and last 8. They had to play extra time against them following a draw away from home.

  13. PV4

    ES

‘Mr Pochettino may not take the trophy seriously, but I am willing to bet that if
Spurs reach the semis they will work hard to win it.’

Poch is talking absolute bollocks. If they get even the slightest sniff they could win it, it’d be bumped right up priority list.

He and the players were devastated when they got knocked out in the semi. The pictures and the interviews after don’t lie.

  14. Dissenter

Europa cup is ten times more important than the FA cup. It offers opportunities tomus it as a leaping pad for better things because of the CL automatic qualification.
It makes recruitment better and prepares the club for the elite European competition.
What good does the FA cup bring. All it takes to win the FA cup is a set of good draws.

    Where’s Wigan right now?

  15. Emiratesstroller

    Carts

    Agree

    Dissenter

Totally disagree. There is no launchpad to Champions League apart from the winner.

As I said Man Utd did not take Europa Cup seriously until semis. They put out
weak teams in last 16 and 8 and struggled.

  16. Elmo

Imo the EL far outstrips the FA Cup in terms of prestige. We have had little European glory in our history, and nothing for a quarter of a century. Clubs of stature don’t have just a single CWC and a single Fairs Cup / UEFA Cup in their history. If you can’t win the European Cup, then start with the UEFA Cup, requalify for the CL, use the success to generate a more ambitious culture around your club, and try to build towards PL and CL relevance.

Winning the FA Cup is an achievement, and knock-out weekend games will always be great for the matchday fans, but there are greater rewards (both financial and CL qualification) and prestige in winning the UEFA Cup.

  17. SuperSwede

The only way the League and FA cups will increase in importance is if he club consider them important. And when it comes to the FA cup no-one can really claim Wenger is not taking it seriously.

This year it’s completely understandable if the first team focus on retaining the league title or at least qualify for CL football again. The second string tho, should take both the Europa League and the League cup very serious indeed. It’s about squad rotation and keeping all your players on form so they can contribute when called upon without needing a run of games before they’re firing yet again. It’s also about keeping the squad players happy an important pre-world cup season where all internationals want to be getting the number of games needed. And last but not least, it’s a very good opportunity to bring som much needed silverware back to Highbury. And we need that winning mentality to be re-established at every level of the club.

  18. raptora

Vs Chelsea in the semi Pochetinno played his absolute best team giving their absolute best and they were arguably the better team trying their hardest. He’s talking out of his butt. Then he comes up with the Wigan example when for the Wigan example there’s the Leicester example who were well on their way of getting relegated last year and it might happen this or the following season nobody knows. Did Leicester suddenly become a big team by winning the league? No. They will be happy to be a mid-tier team at best. And yes, his team couldn’t keep up with Leicester.

I can see how bitter he is that year after year he’s not winning jack sh*t and eventually all of this “oh but they play nice football” thing will not matter anymore and he’ll be in trouble. With the Wembley curse he’s trying to get in the center of attention absorbing some of the pressure off of his team.

You would never have heard him say anything remotely close to what he did if they had beaten Chelsea in the semi and us in the final. It would have been the most glorious success in his career proving that Tottenham is the best London club and that the team is a top team now winning trophies.

    What a joke.

  19. Confidentgoner

We all know we could have used some more signings in the summer but credit to the lads for putting in a shift at the bridge. I will still tinker with our mifield. Play Xhaka or Ramsey , not the two. Play AMN or Elneny as CDM. Certainly make us stonger

    ——Cech—–Must—–Kos—–Mon
    Bel–AMN/Eln–Ram/Xha–Kolas+
    Iwob/Ozi–Laca—Sanchez

  20. Confidentgoner

Xhaka and Ramsey lack pace and do not tackle well. AMN has pace tackles well and fair dizribution. Play him behind Ramsey or Xhaka. Both can play higher up, be involved in attack, and midfield, with secondary defensive duties. Any errors they make further up the field will not be fatal. Would sell Walcot to get Mahrez in January. This alone gives us top 4, and UEFA. Buy a proper CM and get rid of one of Ramsey / Xhaka, get Lemar, keep Sanchez, we probably win EPL and UEFA and Sanchez signs a new deal

  21. raptora

    Dissenter:
    “Where is Wigan right now?”

Leicester almost got relegated last year and we will talk again where they are in 3-4 seasons. What happened when Leicester won their EPL? They got in the UCL and what? Are they a top team suddenly that they won the league? Did they manage to keep their level afterwards? Are they considered one of the league’s best?

Wigan is a shitty example just like Leicester are a shitty example.
Pochettino is talking out of his butt and there are people who believe him that he doesn’t care about anything else other than EPL or UCL. What a joke.

  22. loyika

    @ Bam

Sorry when I sid “Mancs” was referring to both Manchester clubs. I think United might be ahead of Citeh in that i just feel Jose’s team can grind out a result which Citeh might not.

But then again, need to see United play a Top team before i anoint them Champs elect. As for how we do in the league? That’s going to far ahead in my opinion. The club should just take each game and comp at a time and plan accordingly, no silly talk of us wanting to win this and this, we need to do our talking on the field and less air time given to Arsene (some times he would be best served just saying – NO COMMENT!!)

We have had all the fighting talk from the club and the lads that we need and at this stage its just hallow words that hold no water, prove it on the pitch by tactics, team selection, giving 100% and so on. We can only become Title contenders when we are actually like contending each and every game week. So the mantra for Arsenal FC going forward should be “More Work and Less Talk” (especially from the manager and his coaches) but a’las i doubt we can get Arsene to shut up as he seems to like hearing the sound of his own voice even when he knows he is spewing bollocks.

For Poch, well i would advise him to win anything on offer and stop being a knob. I don’t care how much strides Spuds believe they have made, if after all is said and done they win nothing with this set/generation of players, then that will go down as failure. It all fair and good coming second in the league (after all Arsenal have made it our daily staple in presenting a successful league campaign) but for a club that hasn’t won anything major since heaven knows, its a bit rich for him to be making those statements.

What he should have said is that they (Spurs)are in to win all trophies on offer and kept it moving. (frankly i don’t see them winning anything this season as well)

  23. Emiratesstroller

I am willing to bet that Arsenal will put out in both League Cup and Europa Cup a second string side unless there is a realistic chance of winning either Cup.

Arsenal’s priority this season has to be a top 4 finish in EPL and midweek fixtures become secondary.

The difference between FAC the other two trophies I listed above is that it is
played on weekend and that does not impact on EPL schedule.

  24. Dissenter

    Emirates,
United came sixth in the league and won the Europa league. This year they will be playing the European elite and have the chance to earn £40-60 million in the CL. They have also strengthened their commercial position for the next round of endorsement deals.
Th FA cup is a good trophy, don’t get me wrong but it’s no where as important as winning a European competition.

  25. Dissenter

    Raptors,
The level of competition in the FA cup just isn’t that intense.
You have one single game, randomly picked at the home of one the teams and a replay is only triggered by a draw. Europa league is home and away till the final.
The FA cup has been devalued for the better part of 10-15 years now, initially by the CL and now by Europa league.
Of course you disagree, you support the club that’s won the FA cup 3X in the last four seasons.

  26. Emiratesstroller

    Dissenter

As I said Mourinho prioritised Europa Cup when it became clear that he was not going to finish top 4.

However, it is also true that Mourinho unlike apparently Pochettino wants to win trophies whatever their significance. Man Ut won also League Cup.

There are too many people who post on Le Grove who belittle our FA Cup and
Community Shield performances. Do you really believe that Mourinho, Guardiola, Conte and Klopp are not putting out their strongest side and taking other trophies seriously if they reach a Final?

Whatever my view of Wenger I don’t feel that we should keep on disrespecting our performances in winning FA Cup and Community Shield three times in last four years.

  27. Dissenter

    Emirates,
You said “Whatever my view of Wenger I don’t feel that we should keep on disrespecting our performances in winning FA Cup and Community Shield three times in last four years.”

You obviously didn’t read my post when I said “The FA cup is a good trophy, don’t get me wrong but it’s no where as important as winning a European competition”

You think Mourhino would have picked the FA cup over Europa league?
It’s like Wenger sacrificing fourth place (to get CL quailification) for the FA cup.

The FA cup is more of a a face saving trophy or one to top the cake (if it’s a double). It’s not a power competition.

  28. Bamford10

    Emirates

Completely disagree. The FAC is a secondary if not tertiary trophy. Ahead of it are the PL, the CL and the Europa League. Yes the big clubs win it, but not because any of them regard it as a priority at the start of the season; they win it because they are simply better than their competition and because if you’re in it you might as well play to win it. If Wenger has prioritized or touted it, this is only because he is so incapable of competing for other titles.

  29. Emiratesstroller

    Dissenter

I did read what you wrote and my criticism was not directed to you.

It annoys me intensely when many posters belittle the FA Cup results. That is
not to say that Arsenal need to improve their performance level and reliability in EPL.

In recent years we have neglected our ‘bread and butter’ which is producing teams good enough to play well in the League. The Chelsea game last weekend show what can be achieved with a bit of true grit and better concentration and discipline.

  30. Pierre

The fa cup and Europa league are on equal level.. Except maybe that the teams that enter the fa cup are of a higher level than Europa league.. Chelsea, city, United, spurs, Liverpool, there are no teams of that level involved in Europa league.

  31. Bamford10

    Pierre

Except that teams that get knocked out of the CL enter into the Europa. These are often very good teams. Plus winning the EL lands you in the CL. Plus it’s a European trophy rather than just an England trophy.

The FAC has a great deal of history, but it is ultimately not an important trophy, nor is winning it any great achievement. That inadequate Arsenal teams have managed to win it in recent years — teams that couldn’t compete for the PL or CL — tells you a good deal about the meaning of this competition.

  32. Bamford10

What would you rather Arsenal win, the FAC or the Europa? For me the answer is obvious: the Europa. For a variety of reasons.

  33. Pierre

    Bamford
So ,going by your reasoning, with Leicester winning the title 2 years ago the Premier league as a competition has been devalued as they are basically a mid table team..
The teams that finish 3rd in their champions league groups are very rarely elite teams. The proof lies in the fact that, as you have said, an “inadequate” arsenal team always qualify from the group stage.

  34. Pierre

The Europa league and fa cup are of equal standing.. Both are 2nd tier competitions with the league cup 3rd tier.
Though it Would be nice to win in Europe, no doubt.

  35. David Smith

    Poch is talking nonsense,
if they won the FA Cup, the media would ensure the world would never hear the end of it, we would be flooded with DVDs and Chas n Dave would chart.
If they won three cups in four years, I cannot even begin to speculate on the reaction

  36. Pierre

Qualifying for champions league through the back door (Europa league) is immaterial for arsenal until the team has a realistic chance of winning it.
That’s why, for me it’s win the Prem or nothing..top 4 is not a trophy

  37. HighburyLegend

“for me it’s win the Prem or nothing”

So I guess it will be “nothing” – as long as kim jong weng still in charge.

  38. loyika

Fact of the matter is, a trophy is a trophy is a trophy.

As Emstroller said, at the beginning of any season’s campaign in whatever league, you have a list of trophies that is there to be won and you should plan to win all of them if possible. Yes you set priorities on how you list them in terms of importance but to devalue any is just silly.

So what Poch is saying is that as long as he doesn’t win the UCL or EPL then Spurs should not even bother to win any other trophy comp they are in? ABSOLUTE BOLLOCKS!! Because we all know that Spurs will not be winning the UCL in this century or the next to come and i doubt they have the bottle to go all the way in the league.

Poch is just a Poser and always talks a good game. But its just simple, if he can’t even win the League cup with any team while in England he will be a failure even if he moves abroad (doubt he will ever manage Barca or Real, or even Bayern) And he is getting on a bit, so the tag of; “Young, up and coming” will soon wear thin.

He says he could win it for the Spurs fans if he wanted to? What arrogance!! What he is saying is he feels he is bigger than the club and only using them as a launch pad to a better position where he can actually win the league or UCL.

  39. loyika

    @ David Smith

If Spurs won the FA cup, Tessy May would be forced to call a Bank Holiday to celebrate that achievement (with all their so called young English talent in their squad being held up as an example)

The press might even equate it to England winning the World Cup. (same way they would if Klopp won something with this Liverpool team)

  40. Emiratesstroller

I am willing to bet that if Arsenal were to win the Europa Cup there will be plenty of posters on Le Grove who will say exactly the same about that result as they do with FAC.

  41. Pierre

Let’s be honest, when it comes to it Tottenham and Pochettino are bottle jobs

Look at all the big games in the last 2 years and they have failed every one of them.
Chelsea away in the league at the end of the season 2 years ago…… Failed

City in FA cup Semi-Final last season… Failed

West ham away, end of last season… Failed

  42. Jasongms

To set the record straight, for the players in order of preference/priority, and desirability

    5th League Cup

    4th FA Cup

    3rd Europa League

    2nd Premier League

    1st Champions League

For the fans, swap the CL and EPL around *

So Spurs and Poch actually win the second best team in England last season trophy. Fans are debating Poch statement because its rubbish, he shouldn’t mention trophy until he actually wins one.

  47. Don

This is from a man who’s team cannot defend
    Have no tactical instructions
    Have a sub standard squad
    Are injury plagued
    Don’t buy the right players
    Don’t spend enough

God knows how we ever won anything under Wenger
It’s a miracle we managed to get into the champions league at all or win the FA CUP with him running this shit show.

  48. kristoman

This is always the problem with arsenal fans
The man didn’t look down on FA cup rather citing priority that winning FA cups is the least of is priorities, that it is just a consolation prize for a failed campaign. But we arsenal fans will never get that since that is the peak of our achievement. So when somebody sites the obvious we feel insulted and disrespected. But the facts remains pochettino was absolutely spot on

  49. Don

2 wins and a draw this week should see Wenger through the storm anyway. Gone very quiet on le grove since he settled the ship a bit

  51. GunnerDNA

    Kristoman

The priority for Spurs and Poc should be to win the LC or FA Cup. They have no chance of winning the PL or CL. Arsenal won three FA Cups in 4yrs. Fans might be in their feelings because we should have won the PL ahead of LC. It was poor recruitment that cost us that title. Other than that, the big spenders rightfully win the PL and will continue to do so.

  52. Marko

2 wins and a draw this week should see Wenger through the storm anyway. Gone very quiet on le grove since he settled the ship a bit

Settled the ship? A win against a winless Bournemouth at home and a draw against Chelsea is hardly vindication of anything. Not to worry though he’s bound to run ashore sooner rather than later I’d hold off on the gloating until we actually win something or actually beat a top 6 side away from home. The draw at Chelsea doesn’t actually improve our disastrous away record against those teams

  53. PV4

    So sad.

  55. kristoman

    Really gunner dna
Are u in denial or just blinded fan, news flash things happen outside arsenal. The two competitor of the pl league for the last two seasons has be
    LECIESTER AND TOTTEHAM
    CHELSEA AND TOTTEHAM
You see the man knows his priority. Cannot say these same about your messiah though

  56. Carts

Backdoor entry into the Champions League group stage via the Europa League was the only way to revive that dying competition. It’s made the competition more palatable.

The FAC might not have the same meaning, thanks to football being far more economically orientated. However, no team like a dusty trophy cabinet. Period.

  57. WestLondonGoon

The line ups against Stoke and Liverpool are recent proof as to why people question Wenger’s ability; in a league where every point counts, we literally chucked 6 points away by playing the wrong players in the wrong positions with selections that no one, in the whole offootball, has been able to provide a rational, football argument in favour of. Just such ridiculous, inexplicable decisions by the manager.

Imagine if we were lose the league by a point, or worse still, by goal difference, how can anyone explain away these 2 games by anything other than ‘shit management’ – to use a popular term. But still people will claim we were unlucky, or only just missed out on the league. Look at the bigger picture, his decisions alone markedly reduced our chance of winning those games.

  58. kristoman

I which I could have a coach like pochettino at arsenal. The reeks of ambition,
Went to a TOTTEHAM side who is always in our shadow even when we are having a nightmare of a season, we still finish above and couldn’t make cl even when they are with presented the opportunity. Viola they’ve qualify for cl back to back in his three years reign at TOTTEHAM. Now that is what I call ambition

You’re not wrong. Wenger has been doing this for a long time. He dropped Giroud for Sanogo, FFS!!!

And people still said “people careful what you wish for”. I wish for a sane, rational manager who knows how to approach games.

  60. kristoman

and gunning for the league I might add so you see the man knows what he want. Even with all money club in the league he never use their money superiority as an excuse not to fight the league. Unlike us we site failures due to not able to fight the money clubs what a shame

  61. PV4

‘You’re not wrong. Wenger has been doing this for a long time. He dropped Giroud for Sanogo, FFS!!!’

Agree some of the selections have been dubious to say the least this season but the only reason Giroud was dropped for Sanogo was cos he was banging that brass the night before a game in the team hotel.

  62. GunnerDNA

    Kristoman

Poch knows is priority. lol. Continue to make excuse for other mangers because of your hatred for the way things are at the club you support. New Flash…..second is not a trophy. Not joining the love fest for a manager who haven’t done shit in his career.

  63. Rambo Ramsey

Lol, nice to see the tabloids and blogs ripping into Pochettini and his empty ‘bigteam’ talk.

A manager who hasn’t won a single trophy in his career leading a team which hasn’t won a trophy in many a Year….placing themselves as a ‘big team’ and sneering at cup competitions? The bitter loser even name shames Wigan, which is uncalled for.

I wish someone had asked ‘Wigan won the Cup, what have you won in your life?’

“I’d hold off on the gloating until we actually win something or actually beat a top 6 side away from home”

Just thought I’d mention that we beat city and Chelsea at Wembley (which is away from home).. Or doesn’t that count

  65. David Smith

The sad thing is, most Tottenham fans actually believe the media hype about them, must be frustrating having constantly raised expectations, only to end up without any silverware at all.
Still, let them live in their little bubble and believe it all if they want to, I say, not as if they are harming anyone other than themselves in their delusion.
Death, taxes and no trophies for Tottenham

  66. Pierre

“The line ups against Stoke and Liverpool are recent proof as to why people question Wenger’s ability; in a league where every point counts, we literally chucked 6 points away by playing the wrong players in the wrong positions with selections that no one, in the whole offootball, has been able to provide a rational, football argument in favour of. Just such ridiculous, inexplicable decisions by the manager.”

I can’t think of anyone who will disagree with you on that.

  67. kristoman

yeah look at them calling me cunt and spud just because I stated the obvious fact well continue where you are it is nice. As for me I will call a spade when I see one. He hasn’t won a trophy so TOTTEHAM is not big club and we won fa cup so we are a big club jesus arsenal fans are one hell of a fans

  69. kristoman

so we are better than them because we won an fa cup and came fifth in pl while they won nothing and and came second in the league so says the arsenal fans

If he keeps winning nothing no elite club will look at Pochettino. He is a spanish speaker and with how fast coaches change in the 2 big teams in Spain isn’t it a coincidence he hasn’t got a chance there yet. He desperately needs a trophy, any trophy.

All of his bullshit talk is mainly saying: “Yo, I haven’t won the cups because I care none for them. My aim is to win the EPL and UCL”. Translated to – “Fuck me I have failed winning sh*t. I’m such a failure but I could say that the other cups are shitty so it appears that I only care about the hardest to win trophies that if I really win no matter how low the chance is I’ll become a legend. But I want to win cups as well. But I’m a failure. So better say that I don’t care about them. It will be a low blow for Arsenal anyways no matter how many times I’ve said that we should not compete with them and that we are much bigger I’ll give them that suckerpunch. Boom.”

  73. Leftsidesanch

Nobodys saying that FA cup makes Arsenal a big club. However, a manager who’s never won a trophy in his managerial stint, and a team who are a year short of a decade without silverware shouldn’t be so OPENLY blase about the lesser trophies.

Even your fellow spuddies would accept FA Cup, its not the main goal but would teams rather have it or not? What do you think?

  74. Rambo Ramsey

‘Jürgen Klopp has claimed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move from Arsenal came as “a kind of relief” to the England international’

It brought relief to quite a few Arsenal fans as well, Kloppo. Have fun with Banterlain.

  75. loyika

    @ Kristoman

My presumptions is that your a Spurs fan (like the bloke over at ANR)

2nd best team in the league last season?

    @Jasongme

    That’s about right.

But facts are facts. For players at Spurs, just getting to any final is an achievement for them.

Does anyone actually see Spurs winning the UCL? Secondly do they win the EPL? Yes you might say they contend, but ask yourself this, if Dele Alli and Walcott were both to retire right now what medals will Dele Alli actually have to boast about?

Sorry until Poch actually wins anything (Anywhere) as a manager, he is just spewing bollocks.

Kristo hang tight you’ll get some spud lovers on shortly for some support.

  77. Rambo Ramsey

That is exactly what you and your lot are saying that actually arsenal is bigger club That spud because we won a couple of fa cup. Why are we bigger than them. They’ve top us last season and actually fought for the title for the past two seasons and we didn’t compete in any of them rather we chase after the consolation trophy calling that an achievement. So in what way are we bigger than them right now. U tell. If not keep quiet.

  79. GunnerDNA

    Kristo

The same reasons you hate Arsenal is the same reason you hyping Spurs. You trying to make a name by being negative about club, its sad because you actually believe what you saying.

  80. loyika

Why the hell are we even having this discussion!?

    Conte – Yes
    Maureen – Yes
    Pep – Yes
I can even give you Koeman

But Poch and Spurs – Hell to the No!!

If they win something all Arsenal fans will grit their teeth and give them some kind of props like we do the Chavs, but come the fcuk on?

Even Chelsea fans won’t allow this kind of blasphemous tripe on their individual footie blogs? WTF!!

  81. Carts

    PV4

surely fining the cunt would’ve made more sense.

I don’t care if Giroud dicked Wenger’s daughter, dropping him for such a game was madness – given the fact that there wasn’t anyone there to take his place.

First I know you are a child. Second mike obi can boast of cl medal but wenger the all god couldn’t.
That is childish point. Then you whether I see TOTTEHAM winning the cl anytime soon? The answer is no so ask are we winning cl anytime soon too? The is also no. Then again are they winning the league anytime soon? The answer is no but they’ve tried. Are we winning the league anytime soon? The answer is capital NO we are not even trying to. So stop berating for their effort. Aren’t you ashamed of your self that we started a season by contesting for top 4 ironically what spud use to compete for all these years rather than the league. If you are not I’m saddened that my beloved arsenal has actually switched places with the spud. Men am crying seriously

Bollocks it brought relief to fans.

Did you not recall how many people said Ox should stay after his dozen game flurry at the ass end of last season.

If he went Chelsea I doubt you’d post that.

It’s only because Liverpool haven’t even won a summer friendly tournament, let alone domestic trophy, in god knows how long.

  85. Rambo Ramsey

Carts, wouldn’t have mattered which club Chambo signed for, he’s simply not a good
player. Quite a few Arsenal fans know that he’s midtable standard.

  86. kristoman

Gunner DNA , but is the truth, they now compete for the epl title while we chase top 4. These was the reverse in the golden era

  87. loyika

    Anyways, moving on….. @ Cart

Ox choose his bed and now he has to lie in it.

Even the Chavs are all having a laugh that he rejected them to move up north. But hey he wants to play CMF, so can’t hold it against the lad.

Question is, will Klopp trust him in that role if everyone is fit? Will Klopp actually still be Manager if Pool don’t win anything come end of season. The Media and Press are not only after Arsene, seems that most of them and pundits just jump on the bandwagon of any manager right now that is going through a tough patch.

Like if Everton don’t win a game soon, expect the media focus to be on him getting the sack.

Having said that I actually wish Ox well for his career. He couldn’t make the desired impact at Arsenal, so hope he enjoys his footie where ever he is.

  88. kristoman

are we competing for epl title or chasing top 4. if you say we are competing, then there is no hope for you. Then if we are not are we really a big club again. That is what big clubs do. compete

Are you actually joking? Finishing 3rd behind us 10 pts off LCFC isn’t competing and not laying a glove on CFC all season last season when they’d already wrapped up the title at Easter isn’t competing. Chelsea opened the door last season when it was as good as won.

lol holding the Spuds up as a big club you must be pretty special.

  91. JJ

The Carlinhos Cup and Europa are a great opportunity to keep the second 11 interested and in form. Ozil and Sanchez should wallow there until they fix their attitudes.

  92. graham62

    Emiratesstroller

Tell me, when you stroll around the Emirates, how many times do you stop for a pint?!?! because your perceptions are both illogical and mindblowingly crazy.

The Europa league requires 15 games to win, whereas the FA Cup is seven(replays excluded). Winning the Europa League is far far more difficult, that’s why Arsenal have never won in Europe and have managed to win so many FA Cups.

The elite teams in the FA Cup only take it seriously when they reach the quarters or semis. Squad strength determines who will progress, hence the list of winners over the past twenty years.

Tell me this are Sevilla/A Madrid/ Porto(all recent winners of the EL) better than Arsenal. Based on their status in Europe, they are. Winning the EL is a huge achievement in comparison to any domestic cup competition.

There are probably 12 teams in this seasons EL who would seriously fancy their chances of winning it(Arsenal being one of them) and this is before the drop outs from the ECL enter. Can you say that of the FA Cup?

Of course, we all know that Arsenal’s chances of winning the EL will always be restricted under a manager who consistently dithers and fiddles and is unable to create a winning formula in Europe.

So, if you still feel the FA Cup outweighs the EL in it’s importance, that’s your prerogative. but I’m afraid you’re in the minority.

  93. Don

I’d hold off on the gloating until we actually win something or actually beat a top 6 side away from home. The draw at Chelsea doesn’t actually improve our disastrous away record against those teams

    We have won something marko.
Don’t you remember? You can worry all you want. You can whinge and cry and bitch and bla bla.

  94. PV4

It’s so good watching the Ox knowing you don’t have to persevere with the brainless cunt anymore making wrong decision after wrong decision

  95. Champagne charlie

I’ll say it, looks like a bullet dodged with Klopp…

Great big game motivator and attacking team ethic, but my god they’re defensively suspect. You can get away with that vs some dumpster teams in the Bundesliga, but in the prem the bottom five are desperate for a scalp.

  96. Pierre

    Graham62
Have you ever thought of going on mastermind…. Specialist subject…. Talking bollocks.

I think we have only been in the Europa league once (or the equivalent) in the last 20 years and we lost in the final on pens.
So I am sure that if we had played in the inferior Europa league more often then we would /could have won it a few times

  97. graham62

    Pierre

    What utter crap!

You seriously feel that if Arsenal had been playing in the Europa League they would/could have won it a few times?

JHC, they couldn’t win it in 2000 with Henry, Bergkamp, Adams, Vieira, Overmars, Seaman etc, so where’s the logic in your argument. The garbage you come out with sometimes just beggars belief.

You are the ultimate snob when it comes to talking about Football. God I really detest your ‘upper tier’ perceptions on everything Arsenal related.

BRAVO SIR, JOLLY GOOD SHOT, OH STUPENDOUS EFFORT!!!

“Yes folks, let’s welcome on stage all the way from cloud cuckoo land, the one, the only PLONKERS R US……………..The AKB’s of Le-Grove”

“You know that dash Europa league is such an insignificant little trophy. It’s just so beneath us. What do you think Edward?”

This means Sanchez has no intention to sign for city in Jan as he will hold on an get the signing on fee

    Lost the club 60m

In does all the efforts of being tight during the first new stadium years .

So all the wenger is best ever ref
    Ectbon this …

    He has lost the club

With Sanchez n dead weight ozil

  100. Unathanthium

Apologies if this has been stated before but we need to take the Europa seriously to raise our European profile. We’re known as a bit of a joke in the CL. We need to win an European trophy. Manu didn’t need to, other than ensuring CL qualification.. They’ve won the CL twice in the last 18 years. They have status in Europe; we have virtually none. So the pecking order trophy wise is the League first, Europa second and FA Cup third.
