Guys and gals, I don’t want to break hearts so early in my morning and so late in your day, but look… Rapha Honigstein says we do NOT have a chance of signing Robert Lewandowski.

Sorry, I have to walk away from my keyboard for 5… so many tears.

BUT, the exciting news is Mahrez has decided that the probably sinking ship of Leicester is not where he wants to spend the next 9 months of his career, so he’s dropped a transfer request. Arsenal are always going to be interested in a player of that talent out on the right… especially considering our right side of midfield has been a hope and a ‘reach his full potential’ nightmare for the past 5 years. But, as is standard, we have to think on it for 3 weeks…

Arsenal have typically opened the bidding at a price that makes you want to slap a handbrake on Arsene Wenger going anywhere near the negotiation tables. A whopping £35m for some reason. A mere £5m more than the legendary Yannick Bolasie went for yesterday. But hey, United started the bidding for Pogba at £80m… and look where it ended up.

I think Mahrez is a £40m player, but you know what, in this market, if we have to pay £50m, who fucking cares? Just get it done. He’s perfect, he has pace, superb technique, he can finish and he’d be an absolute dream of a player outwide.

Then all we’d need is a striker… and errrr… well, rumours are abound about Wilfred Bony.

‘How could you possibly think we’d go for him!’

27 goals for Swansea back in the day. Powerful, pretty good in front of goal… served up by the same scouting network that brought you Park Chu-Young, Gervinho, Chamakh and the ever-pre-season-present Yaya Sanogo.

Please Arsenal fans, don’t think you’re above Bony.

My tip for a striker, and hear me out here… is Mariano of Real Madrid. Sure, he plays for their B team and sure, we’d have to loan him. BUT, Juventus took a similar risk with Morata a few  years back and it worked our pretty well for them. The Domincan striker has been a goal machine for the B team, he’s 23 years old. He’s famed for being fast, and powerful… ‘bulldozing through defenders’… he’s not getting a look in at Madrid, but he’s highly rated.

Anyway, when the scouting network are on sabbatical, you gotta help them out, am I right?

Yeah I’m right.

Have a great day!

Let’s be realistic we need to focus on what should be the club’s priorities and that is Centre Back and Striker.

Personally I would not rush into buying a new winger with emergence of Iwobi and also possibly Gnabry who has been by all accounts outstanding at the Olympics.

Let’s be realistic buying a decent striker is likely to cost £50 million and I am not talking about someone who is world class and scoring 30+ goals a season.

  2. Emiratesstroller

    Dissenter

I have no complaints in investing in Holding. That could prove to be a decent
longterm investment, but I agree we should have been buying at start of this summer an experienced centre back as well.

Mertesacker was already in decline last season before his injury. Gabriel is frankly not CL [top 4 EPL] quality and I don’t think that Chambers will make
the grade either. At the moment only Koscielny is up to scratch.

  3. Marko

Marcelino leaves Villarreal days before a champions league tie? Very strange that.

Anyway last few days sky have maintained that we’re still trying for Lacazette and that the Bony stuff is just speculative so hopefully that’s all true cause Bony would be a pointless signing. It would lack such imagination and ambition

  4. EN1AFC

Mustafi would be a good signing. Been impressed with him whenever I’ve seen him play. Lets just get the deal done and not dither, we need to bring him in ASAP.

Where are all these Mahrez rumours people are talking about? All I’ve read this morning is that he met with Leicesters owner and has agreed to stay for another season.

We desperately need to add goals to the team, Wenger knows it. Will he rectify it before the window closes or will he moan about how “we tried hard” but we have “internal solutions” lets see, so far our transfer strategy has been pretty shambolic.

  5. Champagne charlie

    Marko

Lacazette has scored 70-odd goals for Lyon in Ligue 1 the last 3 years and Alexis has scored 54 in Spain and then England from wide.

Lacazette plainly doesn’t represent a worthwhile outlay of 45mil to improve what Alexis can offer through the middle. You can argue he’s better, I have massive doubts about that and think paying 45mil for Mahrez to start over Iwobi/Ox/Theo is a much better investment.

Can Alexis return the type of performance we’d get from Lacazette through the middle? Yes for me. Can Iwobi/Ox/Theo return what Mahrez can? Let’s not even pretend to call that a reasonable question.

  6. Marko

Lacazette plainly doesn’t represent a worthwhile outlay of 45mil to improve what Alexis can offer through the middle.

But he does. He’s scored more goals while playing with lesser players. I mean if he played with Ozil or Iniesta etc the last few years who knows how many goals he could of scored. But it’s besides the point. He’s an actual striker and Sanchez is not. Sanchez is a bandaid over the issue we should be looking to deal with these last few years. And also he plays up front who plays left wing? Iwobi? Not yet he shouldn’t. Ozil? Better centrally.

  7. Paulinho

“Look just sign up a striker and be done with it. There’s no internal solutions for that problem”

    Yep.

I said when we signed Sanchez he wasn’t a central striker, and I can’t believe we still have people saying he can play there.

He simply doesn’t think like a striker( instinctively comes to the ball), he’s also not a good enough finisher. Doesn’t have enough clubs in the bag, and horrendously one-footed.

Don’t think he would cope well with the pressure of being our prime goal scoring threat. He doesn’t have a problem with a being a talisman in general play, but he’s not ice cold enough or technically good enough to consistently makes runs in behind and then finish effectively with a split second to think about it; a split second and limited finishing ability/variety.

  8. Red&White4life

“He simply doesn’t think like a striker”
Our main world class striker L’oLreal never think at all, but he still succeed to score some goals.
    Amazing.

  9. Wallace

    Cech
    Bellerin – Mustafi – Koscielny – Monreal
    Elneny – Xhaka
    Mahrez – Ozil – Iwobi
    Sanchez

bit on the small side, but as mobile as you’ll find….

if Sanchez is up for playing striker I’d rather spend 45m ish on Mahrez than Lacazette.

  10. Champagne charlie

    Marko

Alexis isn’t a bandaid, he’s a viable option when you bring in a winger to negate him moving up top. Currently it’s redundant to move him there because two of Iwobi/Theo/Ox/Campbell would have to start and none are starters imo.

Lacazette has Giroud sitting out whilst Mahrez has Theo sitting out. That’s the point for me and talking about Lacazette by numbers in Ligue 1 is a wafer thin argument; “what if he plays with Ozil?” Wel by the same token what if he can’t hack the prem vs the dross in France?

  11. Leedsgunner

I know the Sun is reporting that Wenger’s striking target is now Robert Lewandowski, but I’m sorry this is just s*** stirring by the Sun, to rub into our faces when it doesn’t happen. (As if it was ever going to happen in the first place).

I think the supposed Lewandowski deal though illustrates beautifully that Wenger spouts complete and utter rubbish when it comes to his supposed “transfer phliosophy”

One of his tenets was the importance of resale value.

If this is so important, why didn’t he go for Lewandowski when he was coming to the end of his contract at BvB in 2014? We could have gotten him on a free. Sure Bayern was favourite, but we could have been aggressive and showed our intent.

The truth is we didn’t even try.

Am I expected to believe that Wenger will suddenly handover £60-£70m over to Bayern for a player he didn’t deem necessary when he was available on a free? (and two years younger?) At 25, Lewandowski would have been perfect for us then — and it would been the perfect signing to complement Özil who joined us in 2013.

    Lewandowski isn’t coming.

It’s bread and circuses. Just circulated to give the impression they are hard at work.

  12. Marko

if Sanchez is up for playing striker I’d rather spend 45m ish on Mahrez than Lacazette.

Again you’d rather let’s be frank here a potentially one season wonder who prior to last season scored about 5 goals in a season and also scored fuck all in their promotion campaign you would rather solve the right wing position and not solve the striker position with someone who’s scored 70+ goals the last few years and also weaken us on the left wing. Why?

Why are people so against us signing a striker?

  13. karim

    Wallace

Well, the Mahrez rumours have started again yesterday with different sources including good ones indicating the player has asked to leave and that we have apparently offered around € 40 m + add-ons.
They’ll be on tv in 4 hours or so, I’ll keep you updated.

Mustafi is being mentioned too. Lacazette sounds dead and buried.

  14. Marko

Alexis isn’t a bandaid, he’s a viable option when you bring in a winger to negate him moving up top.

Right but he is a bandaid he’s a winger playing as a striker so he’s a bandaid. Also you move him up top even if we signed Mahrez one of the dross as you said still plays. But anyway the point remains why not just sign an actual striker? Because you have doubts about the French league? I suppose the only real test that counts is the premier league. It isn’t.

  15. Wallace

    Leeds

“Lewandowski isn’t coming. It’s bread and circuses. Just circulated to give the impression they are hard at work.”

…or the Sun just making shit up?

  16. Champagne charlie

“Why are people so against us signing a striker?”

Nobody is against a ST, but if another player is a ‘greater’ addition then whats the fuss?

Question is why the hard on for Lacazette? Calling Mahrez a one season wonder, blowing smoke up Lacazette arse even though he couldn’t make the French squad and no other bugger seems interested in buying him… Weren’t you also bashing us not being in for Kante? Would be odd if so.

  17. Jeff

“Lewandowski isn’t coming. It’s bread and circuses. Just circulated to give the impression they are hard at work.”

“…or the Sun just making shit up?”

    or both?

  18. Champagne charlie

“Also you move him up top even if we signed Mahrez one of the dross as you said still plays”

Forgetting my firsts choice would be:

Alexis-Giroud-Mahrez so the dross doesn’t play actually if we buy Mahrez…

Alexis-Lacazette-Theo…. Can’t say the same for buying Lacazette

  19. PessimisticPat

So how does everyone think things will go at the weekend? Im expecting there to be a weird atmosphere if we still haven’t signed anyone by then. Everyone will be excited cause the football’s back, but if things go bad it could get ugly fast. On top of that it’s Liverpool so who knows how they will play! Predictions anyone???

  20. Wallace

    Marko

“you would rather solve the right wing position and not solve the striker position with someone who’s scored 70+ goals the last few years and also weaken us on the left wing. Why?”

I think the Mahrez deal represents better value. he was consistent throughout the whole of last season. 9mths of goals and assists. that’s pretty much unheard of from a winger. I wouldn’t be disappointed with Lacazette, but I don’t think he’s top quality, and I think Sanchez could easily do the same job if we can convince him to play there.

  21. Marko

Nobody is against a ST, but if another player is a ‘greater’ addition then whats the fuss?

Greater addition? First off we need both imo but if it was down to just signing a striker or a winger I’d choose the striker all day long cause you know whether certain people of a certain ilk want to accept it or not we’ve been needing a striker for a good number of years especially a proven pacy one. And even though he’s just proven in France that’s good enough for us. Certainly better than Giroud and Walcott and Akpom as the only options in that area.

Also yes I wanted Kante him and Xhaka would of been perfect together. I was absolutely all for signing him and selling Wilshere. Fuck me right

  22. Sam

    Mustafi agreed terms with Arsenal

I am sure he’s not new schillaci
Just pulling few legs here on Le moan

    Welcome to Arsenal mate

Plz don’t ask me to spell his first name

  23. Marko

I think Sanchez could easily do the same job if we can convince him to play there

Sure. All the money we have but let’s experiment in that area. Also Mahrez again prior to last season I suppose he was all that. Lacazette prior to last season scored 31 league goals and was top scorer over Ibrahimovic and Cavani.

  24. Champagne charlie

    Marko

Funny how you dismiss Mahrez as a one season wonder because you’re busy championing Lacazette…

Then you tout Kante as one we should’ve gotten to partner Xhaka and dismiss the same criticisms you save for Mahrez that apply to Kante… Banter.

  25. Sam

    Kante is a cunt
This twat just foked off to kings road n you lot still crying over him
    Fok Kante!!
Give me Coq n Granny in the middle anyday

  26. Champagne charlie

Mahrez AND Lacazete would be ideal, but given a choice of the two it’s Mahrez everyday of the week.

  27. Marko

Then you tout Kante as one we should’ve gotten to partner Xhaka and dismiss the same criticisms you save for Mahrez that apply to Kante… Banter.

Much easier to judge. If Mahrez over the next couple seasons gets fuck all assists and couple goals he’s a one season wonder. If Kante makes less tackles and his pass success rate drops he’s still a decent midfielder

  28. Champagne charlie

“Much easier to judge. If Mahrez over the next couple seasons gets fuck all assists and couple goals he’s a one season wonder. If Kante makes less tackles and his pass success rate drops he’s still a decent midfielder”

How the fuck does that make sense?

If Mahrez drops off this year he’s a one season wonder but if Kante does he’s still decent? Sounds fair….

  29. Sam

Dreamers ignore last season Coq owned that cunt when we played leicester.
Maybe thats why Wenger went for much stronger Granny instead

  30. raptora

When wanting to pick one between Lacazette and Mahrez it all goes down to comparing the other first choices for those positions. So it is Giroud vs Lolcott. I mean come on, as much as limited Giroud is, Lolcott is from another planet. Adding that it is basically the PFA Player of the year in the Premier League with a bag of goals + assists + all round play vs a goalscorer in the french league. For me it’s not even close. Plus we can always use Alexis through the middle and Welbeck will be back sometime in the second part of the season when Giroud usually is at the end of his powers and direly needs some rotation, while on the right side of the attack we do what? Ramsey, AOC, Lolcott?! Campbell, Iwobi? Five different players playing like 5 games there each, and each of them struggling to make the positions theirs? I’m done with this shite. If we get Riyad, Giroud will be able to complement Alexis AND Mahrez just like he was doing for the France NT with Payet and Griezmann. It’s the last piece of the puzzle.

    TLDR: #GetMahrez

  31. Sam

Wenger now sitting in his office thinking Mahrez or Gnabry

    No brainer!!
A skinny twat one season wonder new Gervinho for £40M. Or new Olympic star n battering Ram for free

  32. DivineSherlock

    Karim

Exactly , hes explosive in the final third , much like Sanchez . What we need right now . Imagine Ozil’s vision combined with Sanchez & Mahrez. I would count us as Title contenders

  33. Ozy

“Much easier to judge. If Mahrez over the next couple seasons gets fuck all assists and couple goals he’s a one season wonder. If Kante makes less tackles and his pass success rate drops he’s still a decent midfielder”

    Lolwut.

  34. Marko

If Mahrez drops off this year he’s a one season wonder but if Kante does he’s still decent? Sounds fair….

Much easier to judge a winger than a midfielder. Much easier. If Mahrez scores 5 and goals and assists 5 goals next season he’s had a poor season. If Kante’s defensive and passing stats suffer he’s still better than Mikel. Anyway we need a striker over a winger for me. Full stop. Tbh I’d prefer Draxler to Mahrez but that’s just me

  35. Champagne charlie

    Raptora

Exactly that, both bring goals and somethings different but Lacazete benches Giroud whilst Mahrez benches Theo..

Xhaka, Mustafi, Mahrez/Lacazette is a quality window no doubt. Get it done Wenger

  36. Wenker-wanger

Lewandowski ??? Ha ha you gotta laugh. Top player being bought by a club managed by a modern failure and with the price driven down to sub-bargain levels. Would you sign for arsene-al if you were a world class striker playing for a super successful.club? I’m freaked if I would!
Ashley Williams signing for Everton shows how wankger failed again. The powerful leader and inspiration may not be the best central defender but he would have done a great job for us. In the TA no- nonsense manner.

  37. Champagne charlie

    Marko

Nothing to do with sentimentality, everything to do with stupidity in giving the guy a contract which stops us being able to flog him.

No cunt is paying 25mil and handing him 140k. He’s an 80k player

  38. Emiratesstroller

Mahrez is a very talented winger/attacking midfielder and he was EPL footballer of the year.

He scored also 17 goals in EPL so that you know with a him included in forward line with Sanchez and Giroud they are probably able to score 50+ goals. If you
play Giroud and Sanches alongside Walcott, Ox or Campbell I think that we would score 5-7 goals less.

There is no comparison between Mahrez and Lacazette apart from their age.
Mahrez is a top class footballer who is a know quantity at EPL level. Lacazette
is a striker in French Ligue. I have watched Lacazette on a number of occasions. He knows where the net is, but I would not classify him as a particularly
    gifted footballer.

  39. Rambo Ramsey

“Much easier to judge a winger than a midfielder. Much easier. If Mahrez scores 5 and goals and assists 5 goals next season he’s had a poor season. If Kante’s defensive and passing stats suffer he’s still better than Mikel.”

What are you on about? Why bring a particular player, Mikel , into it? Going by that logic, even if Mahrez does 5 goals, 5 assists he’d still be better than Walcott,Chamberlain or whomever it is that plays RW for us.

  40. Champagne charlie

Would love a Chinese club to take Theo, we’d legitimately get 4omil plus 230k in wages.

Sadly Theo is the placid type who wouldn’t even move to Bayern were they to show a legitimate interest. Fucking British footballers and their lack of balls.

  41. Ivan

No bony ffs. Why is that most people here want big towering striker? Barca has three Hobbits attack and rips it. Playing with lumberjack Ollie made us play more boring than before. We have enough passmasters, now we need skillfull striker a la RVP who is able to recive grounded pass and convert it.

  42. raptora

    DivineSherlock,

Rotating purposes? Dunno it will be good to actually have another striker. You all talk about the 15 games no goal period of Giroud, well if we have someone to do the same job as Giroud usually does but when he’s burnt out or with slight problems, or just need some fresh legs in those 15 games, we would be pretty strong in the long run.

  43. Steveyg87

Reporters just being cruel linking us to Lewa…

Every year, each arsenal fan, some secretly, some publicly, muster up a little hope, only for Wenger to show us a thing or two

  44. vicky

Sell Lolcott and get both Mahrez and Lacazzete in. If we need more money to finance Mahrez and Lacazzete deal, sell Campbell as well. We are so close to completing all the pieces of proverbial jigsaw but as usual Wenger will leave us short.

  45. Steveyg87

“Give me Coq n Granny in the middle anyday”

Ditto! But what happens to Ramsey? No ways Wenger benched Ramsey

  46. DivineSherlock

    Raptora

As people are discussing on here , I would rather put Sanchez there instead of buying a deadwood like Bony

  47. raptora

What happened to both strong and fast afrikan players btw. The nightmare Drogba and the closest to him was probably Adebayor, but Adeba was still a very good player for us. He could run and chase and was a constant force up ahead with his physical pressence. CF crysis is real.

Thing is I think Arsenal, Wenger and everyone in the club is very used to playing with a physical CF. For me all the experiments of Podolski, Walcott, Alexis and co, led up to the idea that the team as a whole plays better with a strong CF. We saw we could play some exciting football with Welbeck but the lad, except being pretty fast, has more than okayish physical presence. With that in mind, the ideal would be a striker who has the qualities of Welbeck but does what Danny does but better. Sigh..

  48. Steveyg87

“Sell Lolcott and get both Mahrez and Lacazzete in. If we need more money to finance Mahrez and Lacazzete deal, sell Campbell as well”

    Wait what? Campbell? naaah

  49. Rambo Ramsey

I would sell Oxo and Jack before selling Campbell.

Not only would we get more transfer fee, its more economic to our wage bill as well. Does JC earn even half as much as JW and AOC?

  50. Marko

He scored also 17 goals in EPL so that you know with a him included in forward line with Sanchez and Giroud they are probably able to score 50+ goals. If you
play Giroud and Sanches alongside Walcott, Ox or Campbell I think that we would score 5-7 goals less.

So Mahrez is worth about5-7 goals?

Ozy quite true. Why do we do it to ourselves. Giroud and Walcott again this season

  51. Lamia

    Sam

Did we bid for Kante. If we did bid for him and he chose Chelsea (even though I assume they would pay him more money) I can understand you calling him a cunt. However no-one on here has suggested that we were outbid for his service. So I assume you believe Kante should have rejected the Chelsea move and wait for us to make a bid that may never have come to fruition. Very logical of you.

  52. Carts

This weekends game will go as follow:

Liverpool will come out the trap at 100mph trying to catch us cold as per usual.

    It’ll work and they’ll go 1 up

We’ll get a corner and one of their player will hash it up and we’ll equalise.

First half will play out slightly more even, with Liverpool feeling they should be a couple goals up.

Second half we’ll create a few chance, then eventually take the lead.

Due to our thin squad we’ll start to tire.

Magic 69 min mark will see the introduction of Coquelin, followed by Akpom at the 75 min.

Liverpool will sense our tiredness and bring on 2 of their 9 attacking midfielders.

They’ll soon draw level and continue to find a 3rd.

We’ll bring on Holding/Chamber and see out the draw.

Wenger will talk shit about still looking to add quality but the market is difficult.

  53. DivineSherlock

Seeing that we have agreed personal terms with Mustafi .

    Cech
Bellerin- Mustafi – Koscielny – Monreal

    Best defence in PL ?

  54. TallestTiz

Away from Mustafi for a minute please. Anybody else think Sissoko has been a disgraceful professional?

“I hope Real will come for me, I’m still waiting,” Sissoko told the BBC World Service. “If Real Madrid are interested in you then of course you will be happy, but right now I am still a Newcastle player.”
Sissoko shone on France’s road to the final of Euro 2016
Sissoko’s stance has angered some Newcastle supporters, but he added: “They need to understand, I spent three-and-a-half years here.
“I gave everything for this club and I want to play some big games. For that I need to go somewhere else.
“I want to play in the Premier League, I want to play for a big club who can get into the Champions League. That’s why I said I want to leave this year.
“I’ve spent a lot of time here and now it’s time to look forward. The fans need to understand my situation, I hope they will and that everything will be OK.”

  55. vicky

Wenger will retire from football before selling Jack. That’s a non-starter.

Ox vs Campbell ? We have had this debate numerous times. The popular opinion on this blog is Joel is a better player but I think Ox is an explosive player who just needs to find his stride. Hasn’t happened yet but I think Wenger will give him another chance this season. Campbell is not a Wenger favorite either, so more chances of us selling him than Ox.

  56. Carts

The price on his head has pretty much resigned him to Newcastle for another season at least.

More so when you see what the likes on Bolasie are fetching >_<

  57. Rambo Ramsey

Divine, but have you seen defenders immediately acing it after coming over from a different league? I can’t think of many. Odds are Mustafi’s first few months will have plenty of jittery moments, Wenger has made it worse by bringing him after the season kicks off.

  58. Red&White4life

“I’ve spent a lot of time here and now it’s time to look forward. ”

I wish that wenger has said this…

  59. Ozy

“but I think Ox is an explosive player who just needs to find his stride”

People still saying this? I’ve been hearing about how Ox is an “explosive” player for years now. Unbelievable..

  60. Marko

Mustafi and Koscielny have the makings of a legitimate perfect partnership. Even at 24 he’s got big game experience. Should be a tremendous signing. But more is needed perhaps even in that area especially when you consider that Mertesacker could be a write off this season

  61. STV

    Bamford

I agree Barcelona is not as good even though they are winning loads. That’s partly my point as they were playing great football under Pep.(Even though I think 2014-15 Baca team is one of their best ever with 3 of the top4 players playing up front)

Barcelona had great players and carried on winning under Villenova and Enrique. I wouldn’t say Pep was behind their success although he played his part.

Anyway I reckon Barcelona cant be winning regularly for long as they’d struggle to replace Xavi Iniesta, Mascherano and Messi no longer being at his peak..

  62. Leedsgunner

The truth is we could’ve easily afforded both Mahrez and Lacazette had we acted earlier in the summer market…

If we also sold our deadwood we could have easily afforded two top defenders and a better left back to support Monreal.

Remember how we were linked with Ricardo Rodriguez at the beginning of the summer?

  63. vicky

Rambo, Walcott did fall out of favor last season. Was the 3rd/4th choice option on RW behind Ramsey, Ox, Iwobi, Welbeck etc. Ii don’t think he is a Wenger’s darling anymore. Whereas Jack walks straightaway in our team whenever he’s fit. Wenger was so keen to have him picked for Euro squad that he played Jack even when he wasn’t fully fit.

  64. EN1AFC

    vicky August 11, 2016 13:10:57

Sell Lolcott and get both Mahrez and Lacazzete in. If we need more money to finance Mahrez and Lacazzete deal, sell Campbell as well. We are so close to completing all the pieces of proverbial jigsaw but as usual Wenger will leave us short.

    This.

Get rid of the dross to fund and bring in the players we need. Hardly rocket science. I would keep Campbell personally but Walcott should of been fucked off years ago. I don’t care if he’s on £140k a week, tell the overpaid timid little cunt there’s no future for him here and he’s surplus to requirements. Get on the blower to the porn crooks Sullivan and gold at West Ham or the flash knob Parish at palace and get rid of him for £30-35m. I would be giving jack until January to prove he can stay fit otherwise he will be off as well.

Xhaka, Mustafi, Mahrez and Lacazette for a net spend of £110-120m would be brilliant business and a statement of intent, exciting the fan base and players too. I can dream…

  65. Rambo Ramsey

vicky, I honestly don’t believe Wenger has the backbone to tell any of them British core to pack their bags. My earlier comment was about what I would do, rather than what Wenger’s likely to do.

  66. STV

I’d be quite pleased if we get Mustafi. Top player and clearly better than Stones sy 50m.

A sound defense to work with when the clown departs at the end of season..

“We are not close to complete any jigsaws.. There’ll always square pegs and round holes as long as Wenger stays..”

Spot on. Xhaka/Mustafi = brilliant window by Wenger standards! but yet again we’d still be full of deadwood and lacking in 2 keys positions.

Wenger’s windows are just like Arsenal’s title pursuit, so close yet so far!!!

We may have all the puzzle pieces (as I feel we did last season) but when the puzzle master is a fucking idiot we have no chance of competing

That’s now Bony,Michu, Ayew, Gomis, and now Llorente and borja baston(hope i got that right), all strikers, all played for Swansea since we either before or after RVP and we can’t even get a half-decent striker out there to do a job for us

Not saying the above are Arsenal quality but how hard can it be to find a striker when with all due respect “Swansea” do it almost every summer, baffling if you ask me
