WARNING TELEGRAM: Stan sends Wenger strong message

Feels almost embarrassing to be writing about my issues with Arsenal when such a horrendous incident has happened over in France. I don’t even know what to say. Orlando, Baghdad, Paris, Dhaka and now Nice. The world is not a nice place to be at the moment and no one has any answers. I just hope we don’t succumb to hate… prayers, thoughts, love go out to all the people of France going through this.

__________________________________

Sometimes I think I overuse the word banter. But jeez, when we’re talking about Arsenal, it’s so apt so much of the time.

There’s an interesting story being run by ESPN, when Stan wasn’t bragging about TV revenue like a sophisticated white billionaire rapper, he had this to say…

“I’ve always loved sports and you have to make it make sense financially. But you learn over the years that it’s no fun if you don’t win”

Ok, that’s a WOW moment. After however many years of watching us bounce around like a kipper on a car bonnet, he’s finally sussed it… winning might actually be the sole focus of a football club.

If you’re not amassing trophies in sport, what’s the f*cking point? If you’re not making indelible stains on silverware, who is going to remember who you were and what you stood for?

Having great financials isn’t even an issue in Premier League football these days. When West Ham and Watford are dropping £30m bids for players, you know things are probably going to be ok for you in the long-term.

So what does that sort of comment mean for Arsenal fans? Maybe it’s a shift in vision for Stan. Maybe he’s realised that if he wants to kick the club onto higher financial plains, he’s going to have to put some trophies in the cupboard. He’s going to have to find a manager who can make his life as a majority owner easier than it is now? Pretty sure he doesn’t like being booed in his billion dollar home (not the ranch in Missouri).

I mean, bold conclusions here… Stan is letting Wenger preside over yet another shambolic summer. I mean, you can easily predict this sort of thing because it happens every single summer. But I actually can’t believe the audacity of this one.

… but maybe this is Wenger’s final hurrah. Maybe this is the ‘cheerio, I’m done’ lap of honour.

Again, maybe I’m being ambitious. But look, everyone will be sick of Wenger at the club. Gazidis must be tearing out his assistants hair. Dick Law must spend 90% of his summer, face buried in palms, hoping for brighter days. Mark Gonnella must dread having to call up his press buddies to tell them that Real Madrid have expressed interest in Giroud.

Our summer has been a disgrace so far. The striking options have dried up. We’ve discovered that we’re not appealing as a top-tier club, because any player worth his salt knows Wenger is absolutely past it and incapable of delivering a team that can win elite trophies… we’re just a stagnant bag of mega potential.

We have a pretty damn good squad, we just don’t seem to have a manager that can push it over the line. He’d rather spend the summer doing a second job than focusing on building out our club as the best on the planet. Whatever you think about Arsene, as a sane person, you cannot possibly look at Wenger running two jobs as acceptable on any level.

Shambolic.

Also, for the people comparing our summer to our rivals… give it up man. Jose Mourinho is straight down to business after having a much later start. He’s going for the Premier League, no excuses. Pep is straight down to business despite a late start. Spurs are Spurs, who cares what they’re up to, but they have landed a striker (when they already have one who tore the league apart last year) and Wanyama.  Conte has been in 5mins and as if by magic, he’s found a striker (BUT WHERE ARE THEY IT IS SO HARD) and he’s going hard for a second. Also seriously worrying that they’ve likely landed the brute that is Kante.

Not too fussed about Klopp… I have doubts about what he’ll be capable of at Liverpool.

Anyway, Wenger had a head start on our main rivals and he’s let it slide again.

If Stan truly is in this game for winning, what is he thinking when he looks at Wenger? What does Ivan tell him about the competition that’s coming our way next year? How is Stan going to feel when, at the end of this season, we’re further away than ever before?

Hopefully he feels terrible and pushes for the next chapter…

Right, over and out.

BIG FRIDAY LOVE xxx

Hi Jonraid. Maybe DM is trying to avoid the depressing state of affairs called the summer transfer window at Arsenal. I shake my head. Wenger is unbelievable. It’s going to be another mad trolley dash. Insanity of the highest order.

  2. Jonraid

I can’t understand despite our lack, Arsenal fans are still buying the puma jersey? Should boycott and let the sponsor pressure the board.

  3. kc

Actions speak louder than words. Not one of Stan’s handful of teams has ever even got close to winning anything. He’s a business man, not a sports guy. He’s gotta love Wenger.

  4. Kenneth

I’m so frustrated I’m thinking of downloading Pokemon Go, and spending my time on that shit, instead of Arsenal shite.

Horrible what’s happening in the world, in France & petrified that the US may put up Trump to lead us through these times.

    Tough days ahead.

  5. Twooffive

I still don’t get it! I’m so confuzzled.. So ‘The’ Arsenal weren’t good enough to take the league last year or any for 12, we lose 3 first team players(Arteta, Flamini n Rosicky) n he signs 1 Xhaka an leaves us to rot??
The maths on this subject is clear.. We will always have a squad full of holes! Wenger is a troll of the highest order.. I read that he pulled the Higuain deal because it was leaked?? Haha if true this is a dictators sport now! Internal solutions?? We just sent arguably our best one (Toral) on loan to Granada.
Our first team is depleted because only this madman would give the players 4 weeks off after a tourney! How about halving that an givin em a rotated winter break? Oh wait you need an actual squad for that!
I also don’t give two bells in a field about Stan Kronke who is also another dementia patient with money! I just want to COMPETE ffs

  6. Cesc Appeal

Would not pay any notice to that comment from Kroenke, it was only a few months back that he was saying winning is not everything, no idea what context he gave that statement in and I don’t care.

Actions speak louder than words, he’s sitting back and letting Wenger preside over everything as usual, if he was an ‘ambitious’ or I would say even competent owner he would have got himself a top football man to place in the club to work with Gazidis acquiring a DoF and some proper infrastructure considering the man who has been doing all those jobs (and botching them) for the last ten years is Wenger.

So, ten months from losing your manager who is part of the furniture to the point he’s essentially a manager/DoF/CEO and we’re seeing no movement in terms of club structure. That means either Kroenke is incompetent or they all already know what’s going to happen next season with Wenger, that he’s going to sign on.

This is a huge next 12 months for Arsenal, we’re going to find out whether this is a football club interested in winning and bringing joy to its fans, or whether its a corporate shell run for profit keeping a mass of the fans emotionally restrained from speaking their minds because of the past it manager pursuing his own principles and ambitions.

Arsenal have got it sweet for another ten months, then things will get interesting because the fans have just about had enough now, I fully believe Wenger is the only thing keeping a heck of lot more fans from saying anything.

  7. Twooffive

Not even the French players will sign for this complete incompetent Buffoon.. Kante should be ours! Don’t give two fingers about squad.. Ours are never fit! Pack the squad put with premiership proven quality! This clubs is no longer a joke, it’s gone beyond it! Banter against Arsenal isn’t even seen as fair game anymore. Fans pity us this shite..
How for the love of anything good can u knowingly start the season with less players than one that lost the league last year, knowing the managerial heavyweights are now residents in our league? an then still give players who earn hundreds of thousands 4 weeks beach time!
Xhaka clearly doesn’t understand why he can’t get going already n is training with a kosovan team!

No longer the joke club the pitied club! So much worse!

  8. Umar

Was actually hoping that this window could be different for us but now I know how stupid and gullible I’ve been expecting any serious signings in this window from Wenger. It’s just sooooooo frustrating watching other clubs build up while we still linger in limbo…. Might seriously consider my club allegiance to save myself and my heart. Hmmm! Wengeeerr!!!!!

  9. Troy McClure

The complacency of Arsenal is shocking this summer. We are getting our lunches taken by more focused teams so far. A long time ago we used to take other teams lunches. But I hope Wenger’s milling around in Frnace yields something and he surprises us. 2 years ago we all thought he was doing nothing in Brazil except playing volleyball and admiring asses of hot girls, but he came back with Alexis as a signing. Let’s hope magic strikes again.

  10. Arsnil

Is it only me that finds it ironic that he gets rid of Henry as U18 manager because he was made choose between his television work and the coaching and so what We must ask has Wenger been doing apart from his work with French television. Sod all is the simple answer.
For years now we have been crying out for a centre forward and a centre half with the usual ham fisted and desultory attempts at getting wither. Again this year the names of Higuain and Draxler have been trotted out ad infinitum with no intention in the wide world of buying either. I do believe at this stage that Wenger has a “wish list” in alphabetical order which gets trotted out to the rags in the newspaper industry and the general Arsenal fans are stupid enough to believe it. All the while Wenger makes his seven million a year making sure that he does not spend too much of Kronke’s billions and all the while we carry on through the turnstiles paying the dearest ticket prices to watch mediocrity. Well not this year Stan or Arsene. You can stick your parsimony up your collective Arses!!!.

    Guys joke Friday
A guy asks for a tattoo of a $100 bill on his penis. Curious, the tattoo artist asks him why he would possibly want that.
He replies, “Three reasons: I like to play with my money, I like to watch my money grow, and $100 seems to be the only thing my wife will blow these days.”

  13. HotnCool

For me Wenger don’t have any Fighting Spirit in Competition… He’s too soft…

For the upcoming season, we will fight for 5th-6th place (UEFA cup) not 4th place anymore

I bet this season, Wenger only want to buy average players like Bacca or Sissoko…

  14. ogban

I hope Wenger leaves at the end of his current contract so we know who the problem is – Manager or Board

  15. LONDONGOONER

‘Relax guys it’s not even August yet don’t you realise we’ve got till sept 1st?!’

Don’t you hate It when people say that..

Wenger is a mug, I actually want Moronio to take 6 points off the stale old Fart, he’s a absoloute cretin!

We should be in for hig 3 years late! Offer £30million plus giroud!!

Then offload Walcott to anyone, maybe just release him

  16. Ughelligunner

Shevchenko is the new manager of Ukraine. Lol

when will it dawn on us that the Kronke, the board and wenger won’t spend over the odds on buying a player, over paying the player’s wage or over paying his agent? We would unleashed one unknown striker from one of the European league and that’s it, fans would manage to be optimistic about the deal, and the season would kick off.

  17. Me

    This can be considered news?

The opinion of a man in the street?

Kroenke does not give a stuff about Arsenal Football Club and what its high paying fans want – to spend money on he club is to divert money from himself and what really interests him.

If Kroenke wanted success Wenger would have been gone years ago because in terms of success over the last ten years he has, as Mourinho has quite correctly pointed out delivered absolutely fuck all.

This is going to be a summer just like last year and a repeat of last season except there will be no runners up spot – not this time, there are too many clubs with fresh ideas, new managers and a willingness to show ambition in the the transfer market.

Wenger’s incompetence is matched only by Arsenal’s complete lack of ambition and the clubs supporters who brainlessly support this regime.

Another season of high ticket prices and failure awaits…

  18. Danish Gooner

By 2020 twenty we will have so much money available we can afford an entire squad of superstars.

  19. Al

how people defend Wenger at the moment is just weird. I don’t care that we have a month until the season starts the issue is once again we are going into pre-season with the same side facing the same issues we have done for the past 5 years.

We’ve bought xhaka….great…we really needed a mobile combative defensive midfielder but instead we got another classy midfielder who looks like he isn’t that mobile.

We desperately need a striker and defender. But also a wide player because our choices in that area is a joke at the moment. Apart from Sanchez who is there?

  20. Frost

None of our cbs (kos apart of course) fill me with confidence tbh.

Juve just signed benatia on loan. On loan bruh. How were we not in there if we not gonna get a first choice cb this window?

  21. kc

Juventus to pay Higuain’s buy out clause. It’s time to face facts. Giroud was Van Persie’s replacement. How sad.

  22. Do one gambon

If Stan has any sense hell go all out now and get simeone in for summer 2017.

Let Wenger have his hurrah. If he wants to completely fuck what shread of a legacy he has left then let him. Hell just alienate what fans are left on his side.

In the past he could at least practically guarantee 4th. This year its going tits up for him. Our form since last November coupled with brighter managers at the oppo, improvements at clubs such as the spuds and west ham, his total inactivity in strengthening us let alone his total aversion to tactics is all going to bite his skinny arse.

We finish 7th and even the most die hard akb will have to change their tune.

  23. sunny

Can someone please tell Wenger to loose the purse strings and sign us some players or quit the club.
It’s not his money and not a life contract, we the fans can’t endure the mockery anymore. The board and all of us at Arsenal should save the club from Wenger’s indeference to the corporate image of the club.

  24. Chigooner

Pedro, I think you are taking a big leap there with Stan’s statement. Look at all of Stan’s team and check the last time any of them won anything. Stan is all about the portfolio. Stan will not put his money into any of this teams. He makes sure they are self sustaining and bringing in steady money. He’s all about the stability. He’s satisfied as long as they are not losing money. Winning, please. I don’t think Stan has ever stopped Wenger from spending money, that is down to Wenger thinking he’s the smartest guy in the room. Arsenal is in hell. You have an owner who doesn’t rock the boat, a dithering but all powerful manager who’s is a miser to boot and senile old boys for a board. Wenger will stay if we drop out of the top 4 if fans are still filling the stadium and buying merchandise because 75% of the fanbase are still living off the glory days and the team has a skilled PR dept that knows how to manipulate the fans.

  25. champagne charlie

Sorry to piss on the hate Wenger party, but can’t exactly use Silent Stans tepid words as some kind of hallmark of ambition. None of his teams are what we’d consider successful, the guy is more than happy to own and watch value appreciate irrespective of on field successes and fan pleasing.

Now is Wenger blameless? No shot. But if the guy above him isn’t running the show how we expect then Wenger is not enemy number 1 by any stretch. The proof is in the pudding as far as Wenger is concerned when held accountable, his first decade here was full of pressure to perform and by and large we did. The next 10 there’s been no accountability for trophies and the goal posts of success have been moved.

Until the top brass want us out competing for the best and winning the best, the guy managing the team will hit his mandate at moderate success. Which is exactly what we’ve done the last decade. Wenger out? Nah Stan can fuck off and then we’ll address matters.

  26. champagne charlie

“Arsenal have made initial enquiries about Ivan Perisic”

Source? He’s always been a hothead and not particularly impressive for me. Streaky kind of player who doesn’t represent an upgrade.

  27. Bishop

Arsenal just make me sad each time I just see other clubs acting serious.

    Chelsea just bought Kante…

I am no evil but I know deep inside how much I Hate Wenger

  28. Wasagoonerfan

Been a fan since i was a kid 44 yrs ago. Spent so much money . Not no more. Had enough. Nothings going to happen this year or next.weve had our day. The club just doesnt care about us fans. We are a joke to the rest of the league. I just dont believe we can be ripped apart like this.

  29. GoonerEris

Bishop, so what if Chelsea feel they have a need to replace a departing midfielder? That’s only their 2nd signing and they were 10th last season. In my view, they need much more. We have need of a striker and those don’t come easy, but instead of being sad, we should trust the club to get things done soon enough. You should realize the Euros made quick deals a bit more tricky or Vardy will be an Arsenal player after Xhaka (not that I wanted him at Arsenal). I feel we get too impatient at times.

  30. TitsMcGee

Our summer has been a disgrace so far. The striking options have dried up. We’ve discovered that we’re not appealing as a top-tier club, because any player worth his salt knows Wenger is absolutely past it and incapable of delivering a team that can win elite trophies… we’re just a stagnant bag of mega potential.”

Some people don’t want to hear it. If it’s obvious to the fans it must be obvious to the players no?

  31. TitsMcGee

Arsenal just make me sad each time I just see other clubs acting serious. Chelsea just bought Kante…”

It really is amazing how much lack of foresight and ambition this club has. We are literally in the hands of an ego-maniac and the most ridiculous part of it all is that he is a manager. Not the owner or a board member. The manager .

  32. Alex Cutter

“so what if Chelsea feel they have a need to replace a departing midfielder? That’s only their 2nd signing and they were 10th last season.”

You’re naive to believe that Chelsea only had/has the talent of a 10th place team, unless you want to ignore the fact that their season was an outlier because of the manager situation.

And so what if they were an actual 10th place side? They took all fucking six points from us last year!

“instead of being sad, we should trust the club to get things done soon enough.”

    Fuck me.

  33. naijagunner

Kante …..good signing for Chelsea…i guess Mikel might leave.

Kante was never what we needed so I will just consider anyone having tantrums over this a bandwagon jumper. We needed a well moulded midfielder and we paid the going rate for one in Xhaka.

That area is done and dusted for me as a lot of our midfield options will be fighting for playing time next season.

Then again I expect every bad game Xhaka has next season to be talked about extensively here with constant reference to Kante. But that’s just the way we roll here

  34. Ashley

Anybody who even remotely defends Wenger on here is either doing it on purpose to get a reaction or is genuinely a complete dick , Wenger needs to be sacked ASAP , we need someone to bring Arsenal into the 21st century world of football , and if that means paying inflated fees to guarantee success , then so be it …. Who the fuck does Wenger think he is when he tells other clubs what their players are worth ? He’s won fuck all and managed create a toxic environment at the club he manages , he’s in no position to dictate any goings on at Arsenal , yet he’s given free reign !!?? This is a shit show of the highest order …. WENGER OUT NOWWWWW

  35. Dissenter

Wenger on his doctrine of giving players four weeks off after major championships
“You consider the rest time because France had a long, long go and I believe that they need four weeks’ holiday because they need to recover from that,” the manager told Arsenal Player.

“It takes you two or three weeks to regenerate … to recover completely, and they need to come back with hunger. That disappointment to lose a final, it takes some time to recover from that”

He wont stop waxing lyrical about his unproven hypothesis. It’s just another arbitrary rule like his nonsense “cohesion” talk of last summer.

The German players at Bayern resumed back at the club in two weeks after the World cup victory. They came back in time to join Baern for the US tour while Mert, Ozil and Podolski were still feeding elephants in Africa.

  36. BacaryisGod

It hurts to say this because I’ve been a fairly consistent apologist for Arsene over the years but if we’re left with just Xhaka and a substandard striker alternative for Giroud at the close of the window, then this absolutely should be Arsene’s final season.

Last summer was different. We were coming off the back of one of the most dominant F.A Cup final performances in recent times, Ozil and Alexis were purring, the Coq-Cazorla and Mert-Kozzer partnerships looked strong and Theo was even looking like an answer at CF.

Cech was a great ‘message’ signing and we looked solid going into the season.

Like a few others, I missed the warning signs. Alexis was exhausted, Mert was getting more creaky by the minute, Theo was consisterly inconsistent and we knew the injury curse would strike at any minute.

This summer is the time for a dose of reality. How many players can we truly count on for both form and fitness? Cech in goal. Kozzer, Bellerin and Monreal at the back, Ozil and Cazorla (very unlucky injury) and a truly rested Alexis.

That’s it. Of the others, Mert and Gabriel need to be #3 and #4, not #2 and #3. Ramsey doesn’t shine in an Ozil-centered team, Wilshere, Theo and Ox are classically unreliable young talents. Welbeck was mostly injury-free at Man U and now injury-prone at Arsenal.

Elneny, Coquelin, Iwobi (for now) and Campbell just might be a little short of the type of elite players we need to start against the very best teams but they are all handy squad players.

Let’s assume Xhaka is a hit then this gives us Cech, Kozzer, Bellerin, Monreal, Xhaka, Cazorla, Ozil and Alexis that we can count on to go toe to toe with the best teams in the world.

Three players are needed. No debate allowed. A starting CB, a wide right forward (Mkhitaryan was ideal) and a CF.

Anything less and it should be farewell to Arsene.

  37. naijagunner

Anyone with half a brain cell can tell that the Vardy and kante situations are entirely different.

Kante was always just passing through, he has no affinity to Leicester….Vardy is a former league one player who just had the season of his life and was asked to take on a different challenge and declined….at 29 and with two pay rises in six months that’s totally understandable

  38. champagne charlie

    Ashley

So anyone who doesn’t share your point of view is a dick? Nice starting point, easier outing yourself as a complete cunt before I read the rest of your tantrum.

OK… sack Wenger tomorrow, who’s coming in?

  39. TitsMcGee

“instead of being sad, we should trust the club to get things done soon enough.”

    LOL

Yea like the club has always held up their end of the bargain.

  40. Dissenter

    Naija,
“Kante …..good signing for Chelsea…i guess Mikel might leave”

Actually it’s Matic who’e leaving for Inter
If Mikel leaves it wilbe for money in China. He’s the type of player that Conte will play a lot.

…and I never called you an internet fraudster. That never happened.

  41. naijagunner

I am all for giving players rest as most of them looked absolutely shattered at the Euros but what exactly is the plan this season …

    Sanogo ?

    Chambers ?

Walcott who was dropped last season ?

I have given up trying to understand the thinking which goes into our squad planning.

  42. naijagunner

    @Dissenter

You actually did or should I say you implied it but that’s all water under the bridge.

I think letting Matic leave in place of Mikel is a bad idea but I guess Conte knows what he has in mind ….he is a guy who knows how he wants to play

One of these days we might see a manager like that at Arsenal.

  43. BacaryisGod

By the way, I applauded the idea of bringing in Vardy but yet again we weren’t ruthless enough.

He was a short-term signing but we left the door open for Leicester to come close to our offer. We were getting the Premier League’s #2 goalscorer for a relative bargain release fee and we should have said 3 years at 150k a week if you sign now. Instead, we came in at 120k and Leicester came close enough in wages to keep him.

  44. Ashley

    Champagne

No I’m not a cunt , just a guy who thinks people surely can’t still be defending Wenger after this shower of shit tfer window

  45. champagne charlie

    Ashley

You sound a lot like one with your ridiculous assertions toward people with differing opinions. I happen to think the impatience this window is needless and embarrassing but I’m not going to start calling everyone moaning dicks for thinking as such.

  46. loyika

Like others have said, if by season start all we have signed is Xhaka and Sanogol is still wearing the Red and White of Arsenal then I feel Wenger is done!! Finished!! Finito!!

Hoeever i don’t buy this; “Arsenal will come 7th or 10th” BS!! Football isn’t that simple (well it is) and the idea that either one of United, Citeh, Chelsfield, Pool (or whomever that seems the flavour of the moment on the blog) will just steam roll the Prem because of their individual Managers is just laughable and smacks of childish conclusions.

In the long run what the situation will show (as if it has not been clear/evident before) is that Arsene is no longer interested in competing and the best thing that could happen is for SK to do him a favour and put him our of his misery by not giving him a new contract.

He can then go on to manage France, England or PSG and be done with it.

    @ Naija

I get what you are saying in relation to Chelsea and Kante in relation to Arsenal, but Bro you must admit that it really grates to see other clubs just fucking doing their business with little or no fuss and then seeing Arsenal’s unprofessional approach in the TM!? It’s just a fucking running joke it ain’t even funny anymore.

For me no matter whom we get now I can really be bothered. Probably will get into the Grove of things when the real footie starts. But Arsene has killed what joy there is to the TM for any Arsenal fans. Of that there is no hiding place. FFS just sign a fucking Mascot or something? Anything to at least get the fans on side, not this fucking sideshow of incompetence.

  47. HillWood

Charlie-you questioned Ashley on who could replace Wenger. I gave you 3 obvious names. But it’s like the club had never heard of them

  48. loyika

    @ CC

It’s not really impatience. We only signed Cech last season amd we came second. At the end of the season we let 3 oldies go and have only signed 1 player? You can’t expect the fan Base to understand this scenario.

We might not have the dosh to throw around like a United or Citeh, but at least show some fucking balls and get another signing done. We need a striker (everyone and their flipping Mother knows that) just go out and get whom you want (i don’t care that Vardy said no)

We are now looking like the British Labour Party right now, fucking clueless!!

Ask yourself this, is there anything holding Arsene from signing a Striker right this minute? What’s the point in dithering only to sign Lukaku by deadline day? Makes no fucking sense and just smacks of stupidity.

  49. Tomtom

I wonder what the AKB’S will say if Sanogo starts upfront against Liverpool.
Can any man honestly defend that outcome?

  50. Thank you and goodnight

Just ask wenger to do a turd on the bench before he leaves. In all honesty that turd is as tactically inept as Wenger and as animated as him. The only difference is,is that the turd can actually do a zip up.

  51. gambon

Looks like we’re selling Theo to Besiktas.

Theres a military coup underway and thats the ONLY logical reason.

  52. Jamie

    Naija,

It was me who called you an internet fraudster. I’m man enough to own it, and to make sure Dissenter doesn’t get thrown under the bus.

At most, Dissenter just agreed with the alleged dubiousness of your gofundme charity page – a page which, incidentally, you took down as soon as I questioned its validity here.

Charity plugging aside, I enjoy most of your posts.

  53. Tomtom

Great, looks like we will make a profit on transfers this summer and also reduce the wage bill, what’s not to like????

  54. champagne charlie

    Hillwood

No I said sack Wenger tomorrow who do we appoint, Conte, Pep, Mourinho aren’t options.

I then asked who YOU have beef with? Is it Wenger you dislike?

    Loyika
“Ask yourself this, is there anything holding Arsene from signing a Striker right this minute? What’s the point in dithering only to sign Lukaku by deadline day?”

But why the arrogance to assume it’s only down to us when trying to sign a player? that’s what I always find so curious. Who says we’re dithering? What is the ‘selling’ clubs are playing hardball.

Also, you say we let 3 oldies go but all combined to have barely any input last season so I’ll argue right away that Xhaka over those 3 puts us in the positive column.

  55. LONDONGOONER

Boys I hate to burst your bubble but there is no way Theo will leave for another club, least of all a foreign club in a shit league..

Theo is on 140k a week
The same as Ozil an Sanchez

He will not walk away from that and why should he? We was stupid it enough to give it to him..

No club will take on his fee

Nani jus went to Valencia and I bet he’s on a lot less than that!

It’s so obvious Wenger is holding out for welbeck the new signing. He will tell us there’s been a good rate of recovery and he will be back September.. When it’s really Xmas time an beyond..

  56. loyika

    @ CC

If we end up with Lukaku as our striker come deadline day then that just shows our transfer policy as being a joke.

Everton know Lukaku wants to move, the new owner is friends with Usmanov so there would really be no problem in getting the deal done (unless you feel the “SK” factor will come into play for both) all it would boil down to is money.

Would be quite silly if we do end up in a situation like the last day trolley shopping that brought in Per and Mikel.

Anyways let’s wait and see. But what I will say is; if Sanogol is anywhere near the first team this season…. I will probably have a fit.

  57. kc

Champagne must of gotten tired of masterbating to his Wenger poster already today. What’s wrong Charlie, chapped penis? You sir are a fucking Troll.

  58. mysticleaves

i really hope and pray we dont sign anyone till transfer window closes. i woul like to see charlies reaction. and joes

  59. naijagunner

    @Jamie

You don’t know what my or the initiator of that fundraiser intentions were so I think you are assuming a lot….ancient history though …i only mentioned it because of a certain fellow who starts crying when he is called a an Indian man.

  60. loyika

    @ AC?

Don’t you Yanks have a military Base over there (or thereabouts!?) Why don’t you guys intervene to help the Turkish Prez out?

  61. Goonah

My favorite player last season to the chavs is depressing

We needed Kanté more than Xhaka imo

He is so much better than Coq and we are well stocked at cm/b2b with Cazorla, Elneny, Ramsey(shouldn’t play there ) and Wheelchair.
Who will be our starters?? Xhaka and Cazorla?? where is the mobility we need?

Ranieri said playing Kanté was like playing 12 men. Look at his stats…….Most tackles AND most interceptions with only 3 yellows.

  62. Marc

    loyika

We have a base in Cyprus, the yanks certainly have a presence in Italy but it’s less about intervening and more about a country that is lobbying for EU membership having a military coup attempt.

What the fuck is going on in the world?

  63. Alex Cutter

FWIW, the official party line is that Turkey a key ally in terms of keeping tabs on ISIS activity in Syria and Iraq.

They’ve also been victims of terrorism recently, so with a secular, military takeover, things could get real interesting over there.

  64. Cesc Appeal

Isn’t the Turkish president for a real hardline, fundamental sort of Islam? I read that he is not popular with a large amount of the population and there was something ropy with the voting over there?

  65. naijagunner

Yet when Coquelin was making all those blocks and interceptions we complained he wasn’t great on the ball…..now we want another destroyer who rarely ventures past the half way line
….or are you buying all the nonsense that I read here sometime back about Kante being as good on the ball as Cazorla

That was the worst thing I have heard here and shows how desperate most of us are for new shiny things

  66. Alex Cutter

He’s sketchy as hell. Used to be kind of a hard-liner with Islam, until he became politically expedient for him to become more moderate.

He’s been making a power grab recently, and the public had been getting pissed over this.

  67. Charlie Nick

It’s beginning to look like the last days of the great Brian Clough, coincidentally the last manager to wield almost total power at a club. Gormless transfer decisions, a reluctance to change and sections of the fanbase keeping faith based on the glory days of a decade or more before.

  68. Tomtom

The army in Turkey has always upheld Ataturks vision of a secular society, looks like they have had enough of the Islamist Erdogan being in power.
Looks like a good thing in my opinion

  69. Alex Cutter

“The army in Turkey has always upheld Ataturks vision of a secular society, looks like they have had enough of the Islamist Erdogan being in power.
Looks like a good thing in my opinion”

I have to think that there’s a fair amount of soldiers loyal to the Islamic President. Curious to see how this plays out.

  70. Cesc Appeal

    Alex

Yeah I do remember reading something on him being a shady character, putting it politely.

Doesn’t seem to be trusted that much by other world leaders from what I read, has brought in some unpopular laws and there was some allegations of vote rigging, or doing something with the voting system so that he could win.

The world just seems to be going totally nuts right now.

  71. Cesc Appeal

    Tomtom

That is what I had read, lots of very old fashioned, fundamentalist type laws and policy had been brought in.

  72. champagne charlie

    Hilwood
Mate what is your argument? Stop lamenting on things that haven’t bloody happened: “Charlie -why wait for tomorrow when they were all available earlier ? Wenger is a sham of a manager”

Answer me, who comes in if Wenger is sacked tomorrow? and where is your anger aimed?

    Loyika
“Everton know Lukaku wants to move, the new owner is friends with Usmanov so there would really be no problem in getting the deal done”

Jesus christ mate…. you think pals do each other favours like that in the business world? Everton won’t do us Lukaku on fucking mates rates lol

    KC
Top notch input as ever mate, keyboard warrior club is missing a dickhead

  73. Tomtom

It will be interesting to see if Russia, EU or America are behind this.
Hopefully it won’t lead to civil war or worse

  74. Goonah

    Najja

Kanté is very good on the ball and i have watched him many times.

Xhaka would be the new shiny thing so i don’t get your point

  75. Alex Cutter

“It will be interesting to see if Russia, EU or America are behind this.”

The way the network media is lock-stepped in claiming that a coup would be very harmful to the US, I get the feeling that they’re not be behind it, and maybe it’s a good thing.

  76. Tomtom

When you see Erdogan phoning news channels on his mobile phone urging people to take to the streets and fight back you know the game is up for him.

  77. naijagunner

    @Goonah

Whatever ….i never bought into the Kante is the answer hype Just like Morgan S last season. We needed a midfielder who held his position and could use the ball well and we got one at a good age and good price….its not like we. Went cheap

So pardon me if I don’t sit down and moan with you over a player u never heard of a year ago.

  78. Thanos

Hey maybe some country can now go and invade turkey and maybe say take half of it. That country can then offer an air Base to the UK and USA and get away with just owning the country displacing the original population with its own without any compensation or anything. That would be ducking awesome

  79. HillWood

Charlie-maybe Stan is a shite owner. But Wenger is solely responsible for all those shocking defeats to Man U, Chels, Liverpool City etc going way back. He is responsible for all the shite players signed. They have been listed here plenty of times. He is responsible for all the woeful European Campaigns. He is responsible for clueless tactics. In fact, does he truly try to win anything ?

  80. STV

I really hope this will not result in another blood shedding. The world’s gone fucking crazy.

Erdogan urging people to fight on the streets? What a cunt!

  81. Marc

    Alex

It’s really frightening when Sky news has been reporting for at least half an hour that there’s an attempted coup (that’s when I turned over) and the US government says we think something might be happening.

At least we can relay on the EU to take decisive action to resolve this without the need for American support.

  82. Thanos

Marc surely they would then take over the whole country if it was imperialism instead of half like I suggested

  83. Marc

    Thanos

I was referring to Imperialism as being taking over a country and effectively nicking it. This is an attempted coup and the key to these is always the same – take the capitol and cut the head off the beast, after that you can worry about the outlaying regions.

  84. Thanos

Yeah Marc I was referring to what the turks did to Cyprus in 1974 taking over a the island and taking half of it for themselves. Displacing the native people. To this day the still hold that half. They are trying to get into the EU even though it’s against the EU rules to hold a separate nation

  85. Alex Cutter

“It’s really frightening when Sky news has been reporting for at least half an hour that there’s an attempted coup (that’s when I turned over) and the US government says we think something might be happening.”

The US can’t concede that there was an official “coup” too soon.

Their policy/legislation requires financial aid to automatically be cut off in the case of a coup, for obvious reasons.

  86. Marc

    Thanos

Crazy situation and the EU portrays it’s self as a major world power but it has no balls and even less will to insist on what’s right.

  87. STV

Taking over can be a huge mess if either side is not strong enough and people start to fight over it..

Russia is almost an imperialist country and they are doing good.

  88. Marc

    Alex

It just makes them (as the worlds only remaining super power) as looking like clowns. Surely better to say we’re monitoring the situation and make no further comment.

  89. Alex Cutter

“It just makes them (as the worlds only remaining super power) as looking like clowns. Surely better to say we’re monitoring the situation and make no further comment.”

    Agreed.

Interestingly, France closed its Turkish consulate two days ago…
