Wenger has his summer excuse for transfers lined up #Brexit

WEST HAM WON?

BREXIT

Well, well, well. Can’t say there have been many days where I’ve been more disappointed to be British. Out of Europe. We Brexited. It’s game over. No more unity. Really weird feeling as I’ve always felt very much a European citizen over just pure play British.

The working class and the older generations voted themselves into a recession. Voted themselves into the arms of elites like Micheal Gove and Boris Johnson. Voted to solve the problems we have through isolation.

You get the future you vote for. When your leaders are trying to slander intellectualism, expertise and logic, you know you’re in trouble. We’ve gone fully against the grain here and it’s really sad because what’s happened is going to come with serious ramifications… but not for the people rich enough to weather the storm.

Anyway, that’s democracy. Power to the people. A big fuck you to establishment politics by installing the worst kind of establishment politics.

Glad I’m over here watching it… until over here sees what happened over there… then votes in Trump. Then I get my ass deported for anti-Trump tweets. God damn it…

ANYWAY, what do we have on the table today?

Wenger’s summer excuses about transfers just got a boost… the pound collapsing would be great for him. I mean, he doesn’t need much encouragement to not transfer these days… can’t imagine this helped.

Jamie Vardy apparently decided against Arsenal because he didn’t feel our game suited his… I mean, kind of what we were all saying, right? You can see how a mobile striker who likes to chase balls could work for Arsenal, or any club. That kind of looked like a hammer to sort our striking issues. I could see what Wenger was thinking. We have sharp passers in midfield who could release him accurately… but that wouldn’t solve the issues we normally face. Deep lying defence. 8 behind the ball.

Great that Vardy had to point out that Wenger’s vision was tactically inept…

So life goes on. Can’t think of who we’re in for now, but please lord, say there’s a plan. Hopefully our new scouts have some players that are a bit more interesting that the who’s who of the top 5 goalscorers in the Premier League.

Wenger says he’s too old for international football. He also said…

“a bit old now to make long-term plans”

Well, that is tantalising. I wonder how long he can be assed with it all? Hopefully this is his last season and he’ll bow out without messing things up too badly. HOPEFULLY.

Right, I am literally too depressed to write anymore.

See you tomorrow. x

Wow one penalty miss and some of you couldn’t bloody wait. He’s Arsenal now so he’s shit. The fucker hasn’t even been training with us yet and someone how we’ve changed him into a bottler. Get a grip ffs.

  2. izzo

    @N5
you know deep down Xhaka isn’t the answer and won’t change anything. So forgive me for not getting a grip. Xhaka isn’t good enough of a signing to take the team further in spite of Wenger. We will still be finishing double digits behind the league winner anyway. I know we still have a couple months in the transfer window to go but it is already looking like nothing has changed so I don’t understand how you’re pulling that optimism out your arse.

  3. gonsterous

C’mon the real genius here is arsene. He bought xhaka to get the fans off his back after another crap season and left on his holidays… Well done arsene, well done !!

  4. N5

izzo who the fuck said he was the answer, don’t put words into my mouth. I find it funny everyone saying he’s been Arsene’ized when he’s not even trained with him yet!!

  5. gonsterous

I love how this blog has gone into a meltdown after that penalty miss.. Talk about fickle fans !! Some of the same people were praising xhaka when he was revealed !! Bet they would be screaming to sign Ramsey ( if he wasn’t with us) after seeing him perform for Wales in this tourney !!

  6. MidwestGun

Congrats to Wales and Tunny and the boys….

    N5_
Come on…… you know #Xkaxit was funny…. I mean not my best work but humorous I thought.

To be honest, I think most comments besides the usual people were being a bit humorous with it…. I mean it was an embarrassing miss…. lets be honest about it. what do you expect at this point.. people are still giving Ozil shit about a penalty he had saved by Neuer.

  7. N5

Midwest it was funny yes, I did laugh. The comment that got me was the one that said how he’s been Arsene’ized and as much as I hate Wenger he can’t be blamed for that miss.

  8. MidwestGun

Portugal or Croatia? Who you got? ……… As much as Portugal are traditional bottlers… for some reason I’m leaning towards them. This tournament not really going on form necessarily.

  9. prvhc

He may be an ex-spurs players, but Gareth Bale has earned a lot of respect from me and probably everyone who’s watched him play the Euros.

  10. N5

Picked out Portugal in the work sweep stake so if you need someone to blame for their dip it’s me. I always have a knack of picking out the teams’ that have shocker tournaments.

  11. Redtruth

Xhaka is a Wenger signing so fans have every right to question and find fault in the player that is unless you’re N5 who has adopted the AKB’s lets wait and see approach ..lol

  12. N5

Red, maybe you need to learn to read. I said people can’t blame today’s miss on Wenger not that they can’t question his quality.

  13. Goonergirl

Portugal looked good in their last match. Think their front line could cause some trouble for Croatia’s defence tonight. Wouldn’t surprise me to see them edge past Croatia.

  14. N5

    It never stopped Mid.

I stopped posting for a few months and every now and again I would read the comments and he’s still be addressing me.

It reminded me of Norman Bates in psycho talking to his mother who’s a skeleton in a chair. It’s irrelevant to him whether I reply or not, he will continue his one liners regardless.

  15. MidwestGun

    G-girl-
Yep.. I’m fantastic…. cept this is really the first day I’ve been able to really sit down and watch all the matches at the Euro’s. Guess it’s probably for the best as they actually count now.

  16. Jeff

I was just watching the Switzerland v Poland penalty shoot-out repeat and the commentator goes “Xhaka, who Arsenal paid £30m for missed…”. I thought to myself, have we bought ourselves another dud? Just a thought – hope not.

  17. MidwestGun

Personally I saw that horrific miss .. and was like that has to be Xhaka…. lol. Just the way being an Arsenal fan has been lately. Don’t think we are buying him for his shooting though. Passing and tackling yes… goal scoring not so much. Which is why if Giroud and Theo is it…. we are screwed again. And I have no reason to expect it won’t be, unfortunately.

  18. Gary C

    Jeff,
Didn’t a certain C Ronaldo do the same recently? He is,despite having the personality of what my dog leaves on my flower bed, not too shabby. Give the bloke a break

  19. Bob

Xhaka wasn’t bought for his penalty taking capabilities, the best players in the world all miss penalties occasionally shit happens

  20. Redtruth

    Midwest

Unless you’re born again it’s impossble to be a Christian….i.e.born of the spirit…flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven..

  21. Jeff

    Gary,

I’m more than willing to give every chance to a player to prove himself, but it has to be noted that Xhaka hasn’t, by by any stretch, been impressive in this tournament and now of course Switzerland are out. Missing one penalty is certainly nothing to go by of course. We’ll in the season to come but there is this very niggly feeling that he might not be the player we are all hoping for. I am more than willing to be proved wrong.

  22. wenker-wanger

I believe we are more than entitled to attribute xhaka s penalty miss to the failing wankger. Its inevitable that the feeling its wankgers judgement of a player so clearly shown to be skewed following a shot that an amateur would not have missed as far as this £30 mill player. The list of wankgers Useless or poorly assimilated players is well known and sporadically trotted out on here. Is xhaka one of them ? Experience tells us he could be. That is the reason we appear to be quick to judge.

  23. MidwestGun

Next time we are on Red… you can point me to the spot in the bible where Jesus went around punching people in the face because he didn’t like the way they looked… Ill give you time to look it up.

  24. MidwestGun

I think might have overestimated the score though especially at HT.. thought the game would be more open… neither side really known for defending but the match has been stop start so far.

  25. Wallace

    christ….

  26. Bob

At 23 he has serious potential, has great leadership skills & plays in a position were we have seriously lacked steel,he will provide cover to our CB’s fills the hole we always have gaping when we bomb on & lose the ball on the edge of the opposition box has great vision & some serious range with his passing accuracy, personally I think he’s a good buy

  27. MidwestGun

Ya… both sides more interested in falling on the ground. Playing like they are scared to commit and make a mistake.. pretty bad game really… hope it picks up second half. Nani was horrible with his final passes and Croatia never really even had a look at goal with most of the possession.

  28. Coquelin is God

    Marble

While you’re at it, please also track down where Jesus of Nazareth said that one must be “born again”. Oh right, he never said that. That was Saul of Tarsus, a Pharisee who never met Jesus but who claimed to see him in a vision after falling off of his horse.

When did you fall off your horse? We are all curious. 😉

  29. Coquelin is God

Both teams were pressing high and were working very hard on both sides of the ball. Hopefully things become more interesting offensively as the game wears on. I still like Croatia.

  30. wenker-wanger

I’m sitting here watching cootie with my g\f who is a real Leicester city fan from Leicester. Her vardy comment was quite simply: what’s he got to gain going to a club that never win the league. Modern history supports her assertion of “never”.

  31. loyika

    @ Wallace

    Are you surprised!?

Vardy wouldn’t turn down Pep or Jose or Conte because they would never bid for a player like him in thr first place. (Only in his dreams)

The fact that Arsene even did was bollocks on Arsene’s part to begin with. (And shows him up as being a lazy fucker) Didn’t make any sense amd despite the fact that he (Vardy) just won the Prem with Leicester he is not the kind of player/striker we need!

My money will always be on Lukaku or a worst case scenario Morata. Vardy to Arsenal was a nightmare from the begining, whether he turned us down because of Wenger or not ain’t a bother to me as i never really understood that transfer and thank the fuck it fell through.

  32. Cesc Appeal

What an awful game so far.

Does anybody else get embarrassed by the on field treatment, these are grown men who are athletes in the peak of fitness, nine times out of ten its quite clear they do not need treatment, its like the theatrics of it all, you probably get worse during rush hour on public transport in terms of physical contact than these clowns and you don’t go down asking for a paramedic to look you over.

Be nice if the referees just said ‘get up you big flange.’

  33. Goonergirl

Yeah both sides are too scared to commit. Both playing very cautiously which made the game very boring. Neither team really created anything of note. Hopefully it opens up a bit in the 2nd half.

  34. loyika

Apart from a few games the Euros have really been shyte for the most parts. (COPA for the most part as well) Can’t wait for the real footie to kick off asap!!

  35. gonsterous

    Joe

Cheers for calling me a Muppet !!! Switzerland losing out was sad enough and then to have the one player joining arsenal miss the penalty, couldn’t keep my emotions in check.. but thanx for the Muppet comment.. if ever there was an example needed got the phrase ” jumping to conclusions”, this could be top of the pile… Also try to at least make it funny if you are going for sarcasm..

  36. MidwestGun

Be nice if the referees just said ‘get up you big flange.’
    —-
Ha ha maybe they do…. I would. I think I heard them say 17 fouls were called first half… basically kills any momentum in the match.

  37. Wallace

    loyika

“Wallace was asking if you were surprised about the Xhaka bashing on Le Grove.”

no, well, yes, but no. it’s just how le grove rolls.

  38. gonsterous

    Wallace

It was a bashing till I pointed it out.. then they come out and claim it was all sarcasm.. learning the lying trade from Lord Wenger well it seems !!

  39. MidwestGun

Renato Sanchez looks good. Combining nicely with Joao Mario there.
    ______________
True but I think he had his eyes closed when he shot…. haha.. To be fair there has been about 4 shots in a row by both sides that have been absolutely awful.

  40. Coquelin is God

Yikes. Hold what I said about Sanches. He has tired and is now making questionable decisions, tackles, passes.

  41. Joe

    Gons

How about having a bit of common sense and understanding sarcasm

At least he will get used to exiting Europe in the round of 16

No. You’re right. Hard to read the sarcasm in that.

He got wengerized. #mentalstrength. After missing a penalty.

    Nope. No sarcasm there.

Maybe you are just not bright enough to understand sarcasm. Then try to hide the fact of not being bright enough by saying

“It was a bashing till I pointed it out.. then they come out and claim it was all sarcasm.. learning the lying trade from Lord Wenger well it seems !!”

Haha. Yeah and suck up to Wallace… A guy that is never right about anything

Go back to your emotions gon. Muppet

Hey Wallace. I guess vardy will never become our new “wrighty” as you thought he would.

  42. Joe

    Loyika

Are you surprised that people are jerkin off over Ramsey after one decent game against a shit Russia? Mostly Akbs.

I’d be surprised if you were. I’m sure you think Ramsey will be like a new signing

So on the flip side, has xhaka shown anything towards being worth 35 m.

So maybe guys like Wallace need to calm down on the other side and praising him like he is the new makelele or busquets

By the way, I have no opinion of xhaka until I see him play for Arsenal. Under wenger. You

  43. freddylekgunner

AFCON is even better than this Euro 2016, I was thinking it’ll be better in the knock-out stages but I’m wrong again

  44. kwik fit

Anyone who decided to get their balls tightened by the missus’s hair straighteners rather than watch the football made a good choice.

  45. MidwestGun

Feels like it will go to pk’s unless there is a bad defensive mistake. Reminds me of the Pacman/Mayweather fight… whole lot of to do… over nothing.

  46. gonsterous

    Joe

Lol… Nice of you to pick certain comments from the lot.. well done lad. And I don’t care who Wallace is nor you. I just post comments on a blog as an anon. I write what I see and what I see almost everyday is want to be football experts who in real life have a job so far away from the actual workings of how football or a club functions.. I bid you Good day !! Talking to people like you just ruins my day !!

  47. zaco

“Anyone who decided to get their balls tightened by the missus’s hair straighteners rather than watch the football made a good choice.”

what a comment that was, lol

  48. Joe

    Poor Gons

Hates to be proven wrong and made to look a fool and now is taking his ball and going home.

    Haha

    Good riddance

  49. Joe

I love how this blog has gone into a meltdown after that penalty miss.. Talk about fickle fans !! Some of the same people were praising xhaka when he was revealed !! Bet they would be screaming to sign Ramsey ( if he wasn’t with us) after seeing him perform for Wales in this tourney !

You made the first comment mate.

And what island are you talking about?

  50. freddylekgunner

Thanks Samesong. Will be concentrating on the PKs though, will love to see Ronaldo’s face after they lost.
