Wenger best have a plan B, C and D this summer | Xhaka busts CV pearler

Ok, ok… I’ve already got beef with Xhaka. He’s gone all Harry Redknapp with us on Arsene Wenger. He had this to say on our manager yesterday.

“He’s a legend for me. I used to play with him as the manager on PlayStation back in the day. Now he can coach me.”

He’s a legend, sure, when Xhaka was 10, Theirry, Paddy, Wiltord, Lehmann and Gilberto had just gone and done an Invincible season.

‘I used to play with him as the manager on PlayStation back in the day’

Excuse me? I mean, I’m old enough to remember the boss computer games of that era. I don’t remember a game where you could play with Arsene Wenger? What sort of a game would that be? Just controlling the manager kicking bottles on the touchline?

SOUNDS LIKE A MADE UP GAME XHAKA.

It seems to be part of the early press deal that you have to tell the media how Arsene Wenger birthed you.

What was interesting was the piece about Wenger calling Xhaka last year. Again, I can’t help but think the manager has broken some rule there. Because if there was an offer accepted, surely we’d have made him our man last year?

This has been the frustrating thing about Wenger since we lost Paddy. If we don’t land our number 1 target, we don’t land anyone. We miss out on Baptista, we sign no one. We miss out of Chamakh, we wait for 3 seasons until we land him. We miss out on Santi. The list goes on.

Anyway, we’ve landed him now. I just hope that this isn’t the end of the road of our signings. If we want Moratta, go out and make him our man. If we want Sturridge, have a rethink, he’s too injury prone. If we’re going hard for Reus, Auba or Mhytrykhanaijhgavpwnvlkn… do it early, and course correct if he isn’t the one. There needs to be a choice A, B and C this summer.

I feel like Wenger gets away with a lot because he’s often pitching a long term vision. I’ve already read an article alluding to Wenger moving chess pieces summer to summer, like he’s on some sort of visionary 5 year plan. You don’t need 5 years. You need a summer. Just make your moves, if you can’t get a player you really like, tough shit, move on and find out what choice 2’s club is saying.

Remember that way I mapped out transfers earlier in the season? Remember that article from Monchi over at Sevilla? I pray we have system in place like that this summer, because things aren’t going to go our way. Mourinho is armed with a bazillion, no doubt Pep will be too, then you have Klopp on the rampage, Poch with CL money… I mean, it’s going to be a competitive summer. But we’ve just dropped 100m in prize money, we’re better equipped than most to make it count!

Right, rantings done. HAVE A GREAT DAY.

Oh P.S., if you had concerns about Xhaka’s leadership qualities, don’t worry, he’s got it covered.

The Sun suggests Ozil waiting till after the euros for Bayern to bid for him.

Sky sources say Ozil waiting till after the euros before sitting down to talk about a new deal and that’s he’s not looking to move he’s happy.

Kind of depends on if you’re a glass half empty or glass half full type of person

Really can’t see anything to that Rodriguez rumors. Except we selling gibbs, which I’m almost certain Wenger won’t do. Can’t really see monreal going too with the season he’s just had.

With the new TV deal fees and wages are going to go crazy over the summer. If I were Ozil’s agent I’d tell to wait. If he has a good tournament, City, ManU, Chelsea all spend big he’ll be able to demand £200k per week plus.

Pretty sure this is a bargaining strategy. If not Munich will have to pay through the nose or offer someone in part exchange.

“How do you pick which games to play on oddsportal? That site confuses me, no end.”

First of all you need to make an account with them which is easy enough otherwise you are restricted to see just select bookies rather than them all. Easy enough just create username and password.

Then click into dropping odds section at the top. Select three different pages from this page. You want 1X2 FT only, Asian Handicap and European Handicap. Choose 20% dropping odds on each of them in the last hour. Get a refresh app on each page say a couple of minutes.

Then you want to select the blocked odds section on the right hand side of the home page. Put this page on 3 days last hour option. Put this on refresh as with the others already mentioned.

I also use Soccerpunter home page website. On the right hand side they show “volatile” movements for straight odds, handicaps and overs/unders. Put this page on refresh.

After this you pick the matches you think are worth betting on.

    “In-play bet.Hakoah Sydney v Wollongong. Hakoah Sydney to win @ 2.10”

Fools got a player sent off and conceded a goal right near the end of the match.

    Finished 1-1. Losing bet.

Kwik vedios are always entertaining but this football betting shit is getting really boring. Give it a rest, Please..

The dynamics of European Football are changing.

We are seeing many of the top Managers moving to EPL and also the clubs there are financially strong relative to most of the other leagues.

Personally I don’t see Arsenal being rolled over just because Bayern Munich come calling for Ozil and the same applies to Barcelona looking to recruit Bellerin.

There is absolutely no pressure on us to sell unless we choose to do so.

We have built our stadium and upgraded our Training and Academy facilities. We have a massive bank balance and are more than able to spend in
transfer market on same level as Real, Barcelona, Bayern and Man Utd. Only
perhaps Man City and PSG can outbid us.

The only issue is the lack of trophies, but that also applies to other clubs as
    well.

I really would not be that sad to see Ozil go, provided Wenger did not forward butter ankles, Ramsey or Oxlade as his replacement, and of course, provided we don’t take a long German schlong up the back passage with the price, £60 Million or f**k off.

But we would need to have a plan in place, it is unlikely you bring in a No.10 with Ozil creative output alone, so you’d probably need to look to a couple of players, a CAM and a RM/LM (who we need anyway).

In all honesty though, provided we did that, a CAM who is maybe less creative than Ozil but slightly more combative, I wouldn’t mind…as combative as CAM’s go of course, not expecting a Xhaka at CAM 😉

Rodriguez is a weird one, great LB, but Monreal is probably the best LB in the EPL, well he was last season, maybe a couple of players who could make a case against that.

But, provided that doesn’t mean no CB, I’m all for being ruthless.

Depends if you are into betting if you feel it is boring but fair enough this is an Arsenal football blog so we don’t want threads taken over by betting picks from obscure leagues.

I think people like Frost have an idea now if they wish to make their own bets on this certain system so I won’t put up any more and I hope guys like him can make some profit following it.

No it’s good. Overdoing it might be a bad idea :). Good luck with your bets.

I would go DNB on Atletico Madrid but then I am bias in this match. Want to see Atletico get revenge on Real after their last CL final meeting.

That’s cool Ishola do what you have to do. I actually worked at a head office of a major betting firm, but I’ve seen some people ruined by gambling. Everyone to their own I suppose.

It is unlikely that either Ozil or Alexis will leave this summer. They’ll both get big new deals. I think that Alexis will leave next summer though. Both Milan teams (if either makes the CL), Real and PSG will be his main suitors in 2017.

“So what are the odds of Leicester winning the league back to back +?? 100000-1 ??”

Yes, something like that. But you needed to take that bet before the beginning of last season. 🙂

Sanchez I’m more sure about staying, Ozil is not making any sort of committed noises at all.

I won’t be making that bet but you can be sure, a lot of Leicester fans will be making that bet !!
I think man city will win the league next season. May just buy a ticket !!

Thanks for the explanation mate. That’s pretty interesting. Basically the trick is to focus on those odds with over 20% dropping rate, right? Which would mean the higher the drop, the more likely the outcome, correct? What should i be looking out for in the blocked odds section tho, that’s a bit tricky to understand.

  21. Frost

Sturridge would be a beast of a player if only he could stay fit. Suarez level i recon. Literally has everything you need in a cf.

In the blocked section you obviously see the games listed and you just click into them and see where the drop has been on which team and how big has been the drop by just cursing over the numbers. When you see lots of red numbers that is the indication that there has been lots of money on that certain team. Sometimes the reason why the game has been blocked is not obvious just by looking but you will see the obvious ones.

I find the best games to bet on away from the blocked matches are those that have dropping odds nearest to kick off i.e. late money on teams. Also worth looking at any asian handicap or european handicap in favour of the away team and having a look at what the home team is about by looking in soccerway website. There are plenty of awful rock bottoms teams in the obscure leagues and oddsportal can be a good way to find them by dropping odds indicator rather than trawling through all the leagues yourself.

    Good luck.

  23. Marko

Gotta keep Mesut. You think there’s a shortage of forwards? There’s just as much as a shortage of world class AM’s. Isco blows hot and cold. James Rodriguez as well. Ross Barkley? Nah.

  24. Cesc Appeal

Spurs are apparently going hard for Janssen, for them that would be a decent enough signing, as they have Kane, I’m not to sure about him for us when we have a second rate ST in Giroud anyway.

Would be on thing if we still had RVP or what have you up top.
