Martin Keown would be good right now | See Mesut doing god like things

How’s it going there?

Good?

Marvellous news.

My day is snow filled. I like sharing updates on my Facebook about the snow. It makes me happy. It also makes other English people happy to see what snow looks like. We’re simple like that.

So, what’s hot off the press today?

News of Mesut’s contract has been leaked by a football site called… Football Leaks. It’s a bit like WikiLeaks, except it’s not really doing anything to free the world from tyranny.

Anyway, the contract is interesting. We actually paid £36m upfront. We pay a little bit extra for Champions League qualifications for a few years, totalling £3m or something. The interesting part is 1) Madrid whacked in a buy back clause. So if Barca move for him, they have first dibs. 2) If we sell him for £38m, they get a chunk for the sell on.

So basically, it’s not really worth our while to sell him.

News, but not news.

I love Mesut. Do you? Oh right, when he pulls his finger out in big games? I like that too.

2581452

Anyway, that’s what his deal looks like. I’d link to the site, but there’s some weird PDF sharer thing that’s probably just stolen my credit card details and sent e-mails to my nearest and dearest asking for money to bail me out of a kidnapping.

Still feeling pretty upset about what happened at the weekend. Another loss against Chelsea. I really don’t understand how Wenger allows himself to get his teams into ruts like the one we have against Chelsea.

Does there come a point where you just lose your tactical mind and do something mental?

‘Right, we’re going to play a slightly different game, here’s what we’re going to do… kick the sh*t out of them, all ninety minutes, like madmen.’

I mean, how many games do we have to watch ourselves get bullied by the same old characters? I don’t think we’ve had a side since 2004 that actually goes to war. We have players who have more fight, for sure. But we don’t have a warrior mentality. When was the last time you heard Arsenal described as bully boys? Or dirty? Or too physical?

It’s a familiar missing ingredient when you rack up the… ‘what went wrong?’… excuses for the season. We just need some nasty. We don’t even have it in Gabriel. I mean, he had it all to be a madman. But he actually seems quite nice and very focused on being a good guy.

Give me a bastard. Please. Someone who will take his boot off and smash someone occasionally (my pal did that once, total banter in the 8th minutes). Ok, maybe not that extreme. But you get what I mean. We don’t have any loose cannons out there.

NFL has plenty of them. I watched a player for the Bengals use his head as a weapon to such effect, I thought he actually broke the guys neck. We don’t really have that in our blood. Not that I like it. But where is Martin Keown when you need him?

Where are people that care about winning so much, they’ll comfortably take things WAY too far.

SEXY.

Dortmund want £100m for Pierre-Erick. Maybe not this week.

Right, that’s your lot. HAVE A GOOD DAY X

f*cks sake…whole point of a blog is to trash & belittle those you disagree with.

Seriously We don’t need to sign anymore youngster, I know the nigerians kids we are signing are good but

    Naija,
    It’s a blog for Christ’s sake.
What are blogs for if not for venting.
I don’t understand how you find it so annoying to have people write what the think wherever they choose.

You and Ughelli need to stop attributing spuds trolls to legitimate posters doingwhat they do best i.e vent about Arsenal.

Gooners troll spuds blogs, Spuds come here to troll. It’s all banter and is part of the game.
I don’t even get the tribal reaction when I ask why Arsenal is spending 70 million pounds more to get a comparable squad with Spuds. It’s a legitimate question that needs a honest conversation which I got from Wallace and other.

We aren’t responsible for trolls, it would happen regardless.

  4. Dissenter

Those Nigerian players need to be loaned out quickly. That’s the best way to train Nigerian youth players.
Let them play games, even if they are in league one. They wont develop much in the decrepit Arsenal youth structure.

  5. Sam

Bringing more kids to the academy will stop others from progressing as some could be sent on stupid loans.
Had Gnabry stayed here He would have been fit n banging goals in the under21 team

  6. MidwestGun

There was a really good Nigerian striker who helped Portland win the MLS title. Cant remember his name but he looked like European ready. Altho , I think he got injured in the title match… so a perfect Arsenal candidate,
    🙂

  7. Dissenter

    Sam,
    Holy Moses, what a cracker.

Wenger used to be the coach that trusted youth but now I thin that mantle now belongs to Ponchetino.

Spuds under Ponchetino would play Toral right now. What a strike.

This guy… bit older than I thought tho. Oh well, from what I remember he’s basically Sanogo with some actual ball skills.

I think Gnaby’s issues were injury related. There was talk of him having a secretive knee op. Then it was a fitness thing. Overweight and not fit after rehab. So I doubt he would have been banging in goals.

  9. Wallace

yeah, Toral’s doing well. the Birmingham manager’s said there’s no doubting his talent, but he’s had to work on the defensive side of his game,

  10. DaveB666

Anyone else think we should be in for Arnoutavic? Stalling on Stoke contract, strong, physical, skilful, can score a goal…….

  11. Sam

    Dissenter,

I hope we learned from Afobe that our best loanee deserves a chance, or at least not to sell him on the cheap. Jon Toral should be in the squad next season

“Good point Wallace…. now Fuck off. hahahaha”

Very British sense of humour if I may say. Although we disagree on lots of things Wallace strikes me as a decent chap… hope he took it in the spirit it was meant.

    How’s you anyways — surviving Snowmaggeddon? 🙂

Hows things? Its all good, we didn’t get as much snow as East coast.
Wallace and I are cool. He’s been one of my favorite posters since ‘I’ve been here. almost 4 years now. Damn.. time flies. Anyhow, he maintains pretty good sense of humor despite taking some crap. Occasionally we agree on things.

  14. Leedsgunner

“Huge snowfall is fun for few days than pain in ass. Lots of snow is alright if your city is prepared and has plows to remove snow quickly so people can move again but for areas that dont have infrastructure, lots of snow brings town to a halt.”

    Jwl

You do realise that you’ve described pretty much all of the U.K. right? :). You’ll thaw out. Believe me you would prefer being snowed in to being flooded. Thankfully I never have but know people who have been, horrible.

  15. ofebs

Why don’t we have some nasty in Arsene Wenger’s teams…its probably got to do with Arsene not being competitive enough to date the most popular girl in high school, and not being able to see that it was because good guys come last, and get no bones, sorry gets no girl…

Arsenal just has no guile or street smarts in their play…completely predictable softies…so very very annoying!

  16. Brooklyn

I think we should be in for Wolleschide(spell??) Of stoke….is he on loan at Stoke?? Or did stoke buy him outright??

  17. Dissenter

There’s no nasty in the team when you’re starting a game against your nemesis team with Theo Walcott as captain.

Theo is the perfect suitor any man would want for his daughter but the worst [in my opinion] man I want in my football club.
He’s as gentle as an alter boy who’s waiting for the friendly and predatory priest to bless his you-know-what.

Really, a footballer without aggression is as dead as a fish out of water.

Some players are nasty everywhere, on and on the field but a good footballer has to be able to channel aggression once he steps on that field. I’ve only seen Theo nasty once and that was the 2014 4th round FA cup game he snapped his cruciate ligaments

  18. Carts

    Brooklyn

Don’t take the piss. Wollschied is about as fast as Mertesacker running backwards. Leverkusen let him go cos he isn’t actually that good and Stoke is probably his level

  19. Dissenter

I expect Stoke to win the penalty shoot-oput because Butlans is a much better goalie than Mignolet.

    If only football were arithmetics.

  20. Cesc Appeal

Butland was really bad there, I know its luck with penalties, but just seemed to collapse to his right on his knee almost every time.

  22. Leedsgunner

“Is it just me or there something cringe worthy of a team the size and history of liverpool, celebrating like that?”

Reality — I know what you mean but I really I don’t think we have a leg to stand on considering how we celebrated gasping into 4th place a couple of seasons back… I remember seeing Bould’s stern face as they pranced about like headless chickens and thinking… “Hey Bouldy it’s not like 1989 is it…? You know when you won something huh?”

Now I found celebrating coming into 4th really toe curlingly embarrassing.

    Fair enough Joe, Leeds

It’s quite an eye opener, the difference between what the club/players consider success and what the fans do.

Didnt dagliesh win the CCup. Then he bought Andy Carroll for 35mil?

I think I’m done with it all now. I really think the higher ups especially at arsenal could give a fruck.

I know all they care about is the bottom line but i used to think they still kind of want to see their sports teams winning. For brand recognition or simply bragging rights among themselves.

I swear If we don’t win the league this season…

  30. Sam

Giroud has been scoring but we are honestly a one man team
We struggled without Sanchez, We need another goalscoring attacker

  31. Mick Kartun

    Another one Metro “crap”:
“Arsene Wenger promised £70m to spend on ‘exceptional’ Arsenal signing, maybe Higuain or Aubameyang.”

Good comments excerpted from the bloke simmonds:
“I think you have your decimal point in the wrong place. For £70M read £7M and he has already spent it on Elneny.” So wenger’s already closed his wallet.

  32. Rambo Ramsey

thank the heavens for Dissenter, the Mr.Objective of Le grove. everyone can see the bit of improvement in Spuds, mate. but putting it in words and writing long winded posts cooing over them is an entirely different thing.

Hahaha….I’m guessing this based on your boyhood personal experience eh?
    Just joking, mate.

  34. qna

Zero chance of Arsenal spending 70m in the next 5 days. Only movement will be with Debuchy. Hopefully we dont bother with a bargain basement replacement. Just include a call back option and send him on a free loan. Best for all.

Hope we are up for the FA cup games. I think we should really focus on three in a row. Of course we should try to win the league – even though we wont – but the FA cup should be played with the highest priority. Its our only chance of silverware in my opinion – and that relies on a good draw, home fixtures and favorable results in other ties.

  35. qna

Wallace: Pato to Chelsea, Adebayor to Palace….quality strikers really are a rare breed at the minute.

We could have signed Dybala in the summer. Its about taking the opportunities when they present.

  36. Mick Kartun

With ozil as fragile posture and easily bullied, I still think the best tactic to protect him freely from bullies to orchestrate the game is the old school 2 holding midfielders with strong characters we used to have in Petit-Viera or Gilberto-Viera pivot. That’s why with Santi/Ramsey to partner of 1 cemented place belong to Coq, Ozil will always be vulnerable because only Le Coq that provide the steel and ball winning mentality.

That’s why Viera left, I think, knowing that AW broke that formula to accommodate Fabregas.

Perhaps right now, my preferred ideal Double Pivot would be Xhaka-Le Coq.

  37. Wallace

    qna

“We could have signed Dybala in the summer. Its about taking the opportunities when they present.”

like you I think Dybala’s the best young striker in Europe at present. where I disagree is your belief that money is always the deciding factor. a lot of the time it is, but not always. Dybala was pretty vocal about his desire to stay in Italy, with Juve being his prefered destinnation. yes, he could be earning far more in England, but maybe he’s one of those loons who thinks 30k per week is pretty okay anyway and playing for a team you admire is also important. they do exist.

  38. qna

Wallace: but maybe he’s one of those loons who thinks 30k per week is pretty okay

Even you dont believe this. There is an art to signing guys like Dybala. Especially when they have dodgy agents, which I suspect Dybala does. Arsenal doesnt have this skill. We can only sign these types of players when we are the only bidder.

I dont think there is any suggestion that we even bid for Dybala. That is the problem. It is a different matter if we go through the process, meet the asking price, meet or exceed his wage demands, and then he chooses another club. There is no suggestion of that. More likely, we valued him at lower than 32m eu and did not make a bid.

  39. Mick Kartun

Soton next is not an easy ride, they just beat manure home and they have the strong players capable of exposing our weak mentality to go physical play like last time 4-0 drubbing.

    Worried times ahead.

but this is all guesswork from you. there’s no way of knowing. we could just as easily have inquired and been told by his agent that he wasn’t interested in a move to England.

given the choice i think most South Americans would much rather play in Spain/Italy than England.

  41. Mick Kartun

Great news finally. Here comes our reinforcement cavalries.
“Four injured stars set to return to boost Arsenal’s Premier League title bid. Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck.”

    Like “a new January Signings.”
    LOL.

  42. WengerEagle

Not necessarily true, Tevez played in England until he was 29 and there is also Zabaleta, Aguero, Otamendi, Willian, Oscar, Diego Costa, Ramires, our very own Alexis, Gabriel, Lamela, Firmino, Coutinho, and more talented South American footballers who have played in England for years or are signed onto long term contracts.

Do agree that they normally slightly favour Spain/Italy over here but it’s not by as huge an amount as you’d think.

Re Dybala, was clear to see from last season at Palermo that the boy was destined for greatness, he literally had it all and is like a cross between a left footed Aguero and Tevez.

  43. qna

Wallace: but this is all guesswork from you

Almost everything we talk about is somebody’s guesswork. By your logic 99% of everthing that is discussed about football is guesswork.

    From arsenalrumours dot co uk:

09 May 2015 02:26:59 {Ed002’s Note – Palermo are struggling to have Dybala sign a new contract but have made it clear that they will sell for €50M but will accept a single payment of €40M – a fee which will put off most clubs. His agent has been acting in an unprofessional manner and offering him to various clubs. Chelsea, Napoli, Juventus, Inter, Dortmund and Arsenal have a declared interest. Juventus are looking for talks with the player and his representative and have put an offer on the table that includes players and a little cash. Arsenal have made a cash offer but it is short of what Palermo are looking for. Chelsea have also made an offer that is not acceptable to his club. There is also interest in him from Spain, Atletico Madrid – and if Barcelona can raise the funds in the summer to start their rebuilding programme, then he will wait for January as both club and player would like a deal – but it won’t suit Palermo. Palermo have made it clear to Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus what they want for the player.

  44. Mick Kartun

    True WE.

I didn’t rate Dybala before, not until his rising performance right now. What a miss talent. So what the feck are our scouts for? Travelling and go to Strip Club?
    Bunch of bollocks.

  45. Mick Kartun

    qna,
we’re not talking about to buy when a player like Dybala at expensive price of 40m euro.

why the hell our scouts always miss this talent before his spotted rising talent pre palermo times way before long.

that way, wenger can buy cheaply and ejaculate with small price.

  46. qna

Mick: So what the feck are our scouts for?

I believe the reports that suggest that Arsenal did want to buy Dybala and we even made an offer. We just werent prepared to go up to price that got the deal done – which was 32m eu. With all that money in our bank, we were too cheap to spend 32m eu on this guy, who was clearly going to be better than Welbeck ever will and at best we are talking about Ballon dor material.

Wenger talks a good game about – we will only add quality that is better than what we have got. This is actually rhetoric that I completely agree with. But when it comes down to it, he rarely ever does this. Gabriel, Elneny, Chambers, Welbeck, Ospina, these clearly do not meet that rhetoric that he tries to spin. Not saying these guys are terrible. But they are not better than what we have got. We hope they will develop into better than what we have got, but they are not the quality players that he spins.

  47. Red&White4life

When i think of all the money available in our bank…
Oh but wait, there’s no top quatity players on the market (excepted Elneny of course)!!

    Disgusting…

  48. Wallace

“Do agree that they normally slightly favour Spain/Italy over here but it’s not by as huge an amount as you’d think. ”

but when you factor in we pay almost double – 44k(average PL salary), compared to 28k in Spain and 25k in Italy – …if it was a level playing field I think there’d be a far more obvious trend.

  49. qna

“A majority of 66 per cent of Goal readers believe that Arsene Wenger should resign if Arsenal fail to win the Premier League title this season”

    Interesting

  50. WengerEagle

    Wallace

Fair point re the South Americans in Italy but the vast majority of the best South Americans in Spain play for Barcelona and Real Madrid earning as much as they’d earn at anyone over here (barring possibly Man City).

Agree with what you were saying though regarding a lot of players not being too fussed about earning £30,000-£100,000 a week wages in Italy while they could be earning double that over here, still expressing a desire to play for clubs with a rich history in the game like Juventus and Inter Milan.

It’s not like £50,000 a week is peanuts.

  51. Dream10

Dybala will be in a position of strength during the summer window. Barcelona and Real Madrid have eyes on him and it is likely Pogba will leave after the Euros. He either heads to Spain or signs a fatter contract

  52. WengerEagle

    Dream10

Agree, Pogba will nearly certainly leave in the summer with Barcelona being the likely destination so Juventus will be desperate to keep hold of Dybala.

Real would be the obvious choice for Dybala given the strength of MSN meaning he’d probably sit on the Barcelona bench but Real have the transfer ban to negotiate.

Might suit all parties to delay Dybala to Real until summer of 2017.

Presuming that they want him now.

  53. qna

WE: Might suit all parties to delay Dybala to Real until summer of 2017.

By then United will be the wealthiest club on earth, City not far behind and Chelsea willing to spend their way to match them. I feel that Dybala will move to one of these three clubs next. I agree with you. It wont be until at least 2017, perhaps 2018. Juventus have shown that they wont be rushed into selling with Pogba. They back the player to get better and maintain his value. Even if they take Dybala down to 1 year left on his contract, the competition for him will mean his price will still be as good as it would be if there were 2 or 3 years left on it.

  54. WengerEagle

    qna

United might not even be in the UCL when 2017 rolls around.

I also cannot remember a BPL club ever beating Real Madrid to a signature when they were interested.

Nobody (unless they are called Totti) turns down Real Madrid or Barcelona.

  55. qna

WE: I also cannot remember a BPL club ever beating Real Madrid to a signature when they were interested.

That will be the big question. Nobody has ever had more financial clout than Madrid.

If United fail to make the UCL, then it will be delayed, but it will be inevitable. Right now the difference between City and Madrid is around 75m gbp. With the new TV deal, even City will be close to parity with Madrid. The difference between them will largely be relative success in the CL. That variable cash of success in the CL could potentially put City ahead of Madrid within 2 years.

  56. Micheal

Have we signed anyone over the age of 12 yet ? Windows closes on Monday.

No ? Oh, never mind. Didn’t expect it, anyway.

In a few months, we can re-heat last year’s conversation about splashing our huge pile of money on Dybala, Higuain, Pogba, Stones, etc, etc. And if Jesus Christ is ever going to make a comeback, maybe we should get him on pre-contract, too.

  57. Cesc Appeal

Remember all the rumours Palermo were interested in Campbell, whilst it all guesswork on here, deal could probably have been done if that was true.

But then you listen to Wenger talk about world class Walcott, whilst I think at the right price he might have moved for Benzema, I really think he sees Aubameyang, Higuain etc as pointless because they are not significant improvements on Walcott and Welbeck…which is so ridiculous it hurts my face.

  58. qna

Cesc. For me this is the reason I want Wenger out. Not because I think he is a terrible manager. But because the of the quality of players he chooses and fails to choose. Call it arrogance, or belief in his players. Gary Neville said it perfectly early in the season – its either Naivety or Arrogance. Whichever it is, that is the reason I want Wenger sacked.

  59. Red&White4life

    “I want Wenger sacked.”

    Good luck for that lol

In other news, seems that chelscum are targeting van pussy…
Perfect club for the cunt tbh lol

  60. Cesc Appeal

    QNA

    I agree.

Wenger certainly idealises the players he has, so he will say to himself, there’s no reason Walcott can’t score 20 goals this season, Giroud as well.

So is it worth paying £40-50 Million for a player like Aubameyang, for example, who might get me just 10 goals more than any one of those players?

Except, Walcott is never going to hit 20 goals, and Giroud always ends up being run into the ground, Wenger also takes no account of the fact Walcott hasn’t developed since he was 18 and what an impact an all round technically better player would have.

That is his most frustrating element, he’s so stubborn, arrogant and naive you do sometimes think he frustrates fans on purpose.

How many years were fans talking our need for a CDM and a great GK, Wenger totally ignored it, preferring instead to convince himself Flamteta could so a job and that Schez and Ospina were world class.

  61. Bamford10

Looks like Pato will be on a 6-month loan to Chelsea. Seems a smart move to me. Low-cost, low-risk, with potentially big upside. I wish Pato the best. Was a great player; at his best he would be / would’ve been fantastic in our set-up.

  62. Bamford10

BTW, Broadchurch (Season 1) is excellent. Am probably the last here to be watching it, but just wanted to mention how good it is.

  63. Bamford10

I have no idea how LVG is still at the helm at United. Should’ve been dismissed months ago. They were poor before; now they’re positively lifeless.

  64. qna

Bamford: I have no idea how LVG is still at the helm at United. Should’ve been dismissed months ago. They were poor before; now they’re positively lifeless.

United and Arsenal are both arrogant. Fail to understand how the landscape has changed since they dominated the early premier league. Sacking LVG now would be like having to admit their mistake. Arrogant people dont like to do that. It cant be too long until LVG is gone though. Maybe they just dont want to have to open the cheque book until summer so they are waiting until the window closes.

  65. Jamie

    Bamford –

I think the Xhaka to Liverpool piece is just click-bait.

That said, he’s more likely to go to Liverpool than sign for us. They have an owner who isn’t afraid to invest in his playing squad.

  66. azed

“Wenger also takes no account of the fact Walcott hasn’t developed since he was 18 ”

    CA
That would mean Wenger admitting that he goofed….

  67. Ughelligunner

Azed, if wenger wants to sell any player it is as simple as the player getting the Podolsky treatment while telling everyone he is not for sale and he is an exceptional player..
And then fans would start thinking the said player is way better than the ones on the starting eleven and will just keep blaming the manager until he is sold. So he wouldn’t sound goofed rather vindicated.

You’re heading to the right area then, stellar rivers above Vancouver and some quite accessible. Good luck… i’m jealous!

No chance Wenger flukes the league this season.

He’s the master of self-sabotage. The difference between him and Fergie is that Fergie went balls-out for the title by signing RVP in his final season.

Wenger is routinely quoted as saying he’s only looking for ‘exceptional players’ then signs Elneny. Nothing against Elneny, but if he was an exceptional player, he’d start immediately without the need for acclimatisation. No way we’d bench Pogba had we signed him two weeks ago. Ozil walked straight into the team when he signed.

Typical bullshit from Wenger. Elneny might turn out to be a decent acquisition for the money, but his ‘we only look for top, top quality’ lines are as boring as the ‘we don’t have the money to compete’ lines were.

    Always full of excuses.

It boils down to Wenger is
    1- Arrogant
    2- naive
    3- Imbecile
4- Lost in substitution statistic but has not learned to do as required
5- Cannot juggle merits of substituted players and ends up doing Worse
6- Wenger is a Fraud and like all successful frauds can con his band of AKB w/t brains
7- Wenger in cahoots with Kroenke who runs AFC as a grocery store
    8- Wenger Out
9- Kroenke may he be caught like Sepp Blatter in his Machiavellian chicanery and be jailed

Exceptional players doesn’t mean worldclass. Worldclass players start immediately in a new club whereas upcoming players are comfortable on the bench for a big club.
Chelsea didn’t find the need for the best leftback in the bundesliga in Baba Rayman or Luis form Athletico when they were struggling.
    It happens, guys.

The great thing about Pato is goals n Assists. Forget about his other problems we could fix that later n he also know this is his last chance.
We’ll regret not signing him like we doing with Aubameyang.
I like Theo but I’ll Pato over him anyday.

  74. Ughelligunner

By the way, in ferguson’s last year, he opted for Scholes coming back from retirement rather than replacing the player for the future of the club. Scholes never played up to 15 games that year.

Man utd never had a red card or concede a penalty in Ferguson’s last year. Men Ferguson was boss, but some decisions from referees and the British managers were weird and still remains so.

You think that the reasons South Americans choose Spain and Italy is because they can easily get visas to play there unlike in England where you pretty much have to be full fledged international.

El Nene is just the right price because if hes shyte then its not a big loss and if hes great then Wengers a genius.

Either way. This guy aint helpimg us win any UCL trophy. We might scrape the league this year, but it won’t be because of El Nene. It will be because of Giroud Ozil Sanchez Monreal Bellerin Coq Koz and Cech.

Next season. If we win the league. Wenger can justify his addition helped us to the title.

But first we have to win it. Secondly El Nene has to prove hes good enough. Who else wanted him, really?

Some much room for failure in Wengers decisions.

    He’s not serious.

  77. Sam

Both Theo n Giroud not scoring enough goals to win us the league
The media getting excited for the return of British core Welbeck, smh

  78. Ughelligunner

That ferguson’s time, and that penalty, geez.

How many points were accumulated with that alone. Not talking of direct wrong officiating of close competiting team matches.

He is great coach. Yap. But…geez

  79. Carts

I’d be willing to bet money on Pato being a flop at Chelsea, inasmuch he’ll feature from the bench for at least 80% of his appearances from now till May.

That’s no way to ascertain a players quality.

They just going to drop Costa for Pato, eh?

  80. Carts

    @ Jamie

No banter, but what would you say (or do) if we went on to win the league, as I still feels that there’s a good chance this can happen?

  81. Jamie

    Ughelligunner –

Imo, Fergie knew what it took to win, and he put it into action.

    What more is there?

What ambitions to really push for the league has Wenger shown this season?

“Exceptional players doesn’t mean worldclass. Worldclass players start immediately in a new club whereas upcoming players are comfortable on the bench for a big club.”

Where I come from, ‘exceptional plater’ is synonymous with ‘world class’ in sporting terms. Wenger dangles the ‘top, top player’ carrot to the fans so that he can argue that there weren’t any world class players available when he doesn’t sign anyone.

“Chelsea didn’t find the need for the best leftback in the bundesliga in Baba Rayman or Luis form Athletico when they were struggling.”

I’m not sure I understand the relevance to this statement. I also have to question its logic.. Baba Rahman, the best LB in the Bundesliga?! David Alaba, no contest.

  82. Jamie

    @Carts

If we won the league, I would be beside myself in disbelief. I would then pray that he had the sense to end his career with his remaining dignity and legacy intact and immediately resign, leaving the club (and his reputation) in the best position possible.

It wouldn’t be through his tactical genius or dealing in the transfer market which would win him the league this season, it would be through the other top clubs not playing to their full potential, imo.

City to win it. I’ll happily eat my words and apologize for my erroneous prediction if I’m wrong at the end of the season.

  83. Red&White4life

“But he won the Champions league twice”

    Seriously ?? LOL

    His 1st CL trophy was a gift from Bayern defenders;
His 2nd CL trophy, Terry slipped and missed his penalty.

  84. Carts

    @ Jamie

“It wouldn’t be through his tactical genius or dealing in the transfer market which would win him the league this season, it would be through the other top clubs not playing to their full potential, imo.”

Though the above is very valid, try arguing that to the AKBs if we pull it off.

But yeah, you’d imagine City would get their act together and find form, but crazier things have happened.
