ARSENE: The midfielders are running out!

by .

Ahhhh man, you know like, when you go out and you’re all…

‘Oh let’s just do two beers’

Then you lose your shit and have 53 beers.

That.

I feel pretty broken rn.

It was fine though, because I was hanging out with Le Grover’s in cool places. Pretty sure we solved football.

I finished up the night lost because block systems are stupid. I bought 20 bucks worth of McDonald’s, then wrote an e-mail so aggressive I could have been arrested, then fell asleep.

All I can say is I’m thankful I couldn’t work e-mail in that state. I’d be so fired this morning. I’m such a bitch when I’m drunk.

RIGHT. Enough of that, what do we have?

Well, we’re beating some team in Singapore right this second. CHUBA AKPOM banged one in. I really like that kid. I know he tanked in Nottingham Forests team last year, but he’s talent for me. Maybe he just didn’t like it in the midlands. I mean, I worked there, it’s not the best. I feel he’s the new Thierry Henry.

(4-0 win, sweet)

Arsenal launched their gold kit in Singapore. I was wondering if they did that because people in Asia like gold things. Then I realised, people in ALL cultures like gold things. So my plan to unpick the Puma marketing strategy lays in tatters as I write.

Gold kits are cool. I’m not sure about this one quite yet. It’s a grower… but here’s the deal, I can’t wear one because I’m an adult, so I’ll have to enjoy it on the players, or small children… and considering I don’t have small children, I should probably avoid admiring other peoples in branded sports attire.

SINGAPORE - JULY 14: Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini of Arsenal during the Arsenal and Puma Launch the 2015-16 away kit at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre on July 14, 2015 in Singapore. (Photo by David Price/Arsenal FC via Getty Images) *** Local Caption *** Mesut Ozil; Jack Wilshere; Mathieu Flamini

GOLD

I love that shot. You can imagine the panic when Ozil is on the roster. When I used to go to relatives houses back in the day, I’d get told off for not looking interested by my mother.

“Mesut, can you please smile. You look bored. Mesut! Be nice to the lovely kit people.’

Shit seems to be going down the transfer pan. No Bastian. No Morgan. No Carvahlo (injured for 12 weeks). I mean, the only DM left is Lee Catermole. WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE.

Arsene, you’d best have a plan.

Right, this is late enough as it is. HAVE A BANGING DAY YA!

Frank de Boer has confirmed #Ajax will sign #AFC striker Yaya #Sanogo on one-year loan deal. Competition for #Milik.

  2. nasri's mouth

You don’t judge Wenger at the end of the window. There are no prizes for who signed the most players… Unless you’re an agent.
A manager’s transfer policy should be judged at the end of the season really. That’s when you know whether they ultimately succeeded or failed.

IE how do you at the beginning of September whether signing DiMaria is a masterstroke or a fuckup. Brilliant player, cost loads but honestly wasn’t very good for most of the season. Need to wait till the end to find that out

  3. Carts

No but seriously, why people are still bitching about Coq, Flamini and Arteta being our midfield trio need to understand something – Wenger said we already have 2 world class goalkeepers on the eve of signing Cech. If he doesn’t add a DM, what does that tell you?

  4. gonsterous

We honestly can’t expect to win the title with just cech. We still need a good DM or a striker. We know Wenger hates getting all the right players so he’s just goingto get one player in a position we need !! Whether it be a striker or a DM its up to him !!

  5. daz

“No but seriously, why people are still bitching about Coq, Flamini and Arteta being our midfield trio need to understand something – Wenger said we already have 2 world class goalkeepers on the eve of signing Cech. If he doesn’t add a DM, what does that tell you?”

The problem is some people are premature ejaculators spunking their shit all over the place weeks before the window has closed

  6. nasri's mouth

    @Klauspoppe

I think the FA Cup wins defused an awful lot of the rage and frustration actually, esp when added to the money Wenger has been spending recently.

Of course fans are all about the here and now, so no doubt there’ll be some moans when we lose a game, but I think it’ll take a fair bit to get back to the “Get out while you still can Joel” anger

  7. Alfie

“Ol’ chap has gone ghost. He was my Emirates Cup hook up”

Mine too! Might just go to a boozer by the ground……………

  8. nasri's mouth

Im not even sure Coq, Arteta and Flamini are our midfield trio. I think Wenger will use some of Wilshere Ramsey Ox as an alternative to Coq in games where he thinks we don’t need a pure Defensive player but we do need a bit more creativity to break bus parking teams down

  9. qna

There is only 3 weeks until the season starts. Any player that we sign needs time to asjust to the team, new city, probably new country.

If we are going to rely on this signing(s) as a first teamer for us to win the league it is getting late. It is time for concern.

Last year we stood still/regressed from the previous year while Chelsea and United improved and City stayed well in fribt of us. Already, all of these teams have significantly improved, while we have only marginally improved. It is clear that we dont have any ambion to push for the title. Sure if by some miracle thigs fall into place and we win it, the club and manager will take full credit. But they dont seriously expect it.

Lame club fitting of supporters like Le Prick.

  10. daz

“Last year we stood still/regressed from the previous year while Chelsea and United improved and City stayed well in fribt of us. ”

    Is this a joke

  11. S Asoa

The weaknesses at AFC are stated and reiterated ad nauseum , day in day out. So clear , but our Nauseating Ditherer Arsehole Wenger can’t see.
Ramsey and Arteta partnered so well 2 years ago , but since times have changed , Arteta stamina is shot, and since injury , so did Ramsey’s marauding runs.
Only Le Imbecile Wenger stays stuck up in the past.
    Sicko

  12. Klauspoppe

    NM

Not too confident replacing Coq with Ramsey or Wilshere will even add further attacking prowess to break down buses.

Regardless it is high risk when as soon as we play a highline to supplement our attack we become ever more vulnerable on the break.

I prefer we keep a strong defensive record and find more consistency and variation in attack patterns. With attackers spending more time together I’m sure it will gradually gel.

  13. Bamford10

    Daz

First, Obi Mikel was Chelsea’s starting CDM throughout their CL-winning campaign, and he was quite good throughout. He may not be world class, but he is far from “shit”.

(Note: Arteta isn’t as bad as Blsany is saying either, but he was never a first-rate player and is now completely past it — not to mention injured again.)

Second, Fabregas said in interviews that he wanted to return to Arsenal but that Arsenal (read Wenger) wasn’t interested in him. This was well-covered in the papers. Do you keep up with the news re the club you support?

(Note: I am not one of those who thinks not re-signing Cesc was a terrible mistake. A very good player — one whom in some ways and on some days is superior to Ozil — but not what we needed.

What we needed then, and what we still need now, are a class CDM and CF.

  14. bob

akpom love to see him do that against chelsea or man city? pre season games mean shit sanogo scored 4 last year after that he only got 1goal the whole season

  15. Bamford10

    Klauspoppe

Those who overrate Arsenal players and underrate other teams’ players are actually a minority here. A vocal minority, yes, but a minority. Most here are fairly objective, but there is undoubtedly always a conflict between those who can see the side objectively and those for whom everything Arsenal (player, manager) is always the best.

  16. Blsany

Alexandre Moreno Loperab anyone knows anything about him?Are we linked with him?Winger from Rayo Vallecano?

” Lame club fitting of supporters like Le Prick. ”

If you think Arsenal is a lame club not befitting of amazing supporters such as yourself, you know the solution don’t you?

  18. Klauspoppe

“but there is undoubtedly always a conflict between those who can see the side objectively and those for whom everything Arsenal (player, manager) is always the best.”

It’s like if one end of the spectrum appears the other end follows suit. Problem is it isn’t always the extremes that’s negative Arsenal that start it first.

  19. Carts

“Mine too! Might just go to a boozer by the ground……………”

worst come to worst that could work, though I’d imagine general sale would be going on, no?

  20. daz

    Bamford

Saying Mikel was shit was exaggerated to make the point clear that all top sides have fringe players such as artea, and I read all sorts about the club most the time it’s not true, Mourinho stated “it was easy to sign cesc as Chelsea was always his first choice” who’s telling the truth the player who does not want to upset former fans or a manager who does care less about what arsenal fans think

  21. Naijagunner

Interesting that most Ex-Liverpool players don’t think Benteke is good enough for them.

Well it seems Rodgers does not really care, he is buying him anyway. Betting has been suspended. Personally i like Benteke, but i am yet to be convinced he will make it at a top club. Time will tell.

  22. Willow Wilson

“So Blsany is saying he doesn’t like the FA Cup because winning it gives the pro Wenger crowd an argument?!”

Unbelievable way to support your football club. But not unusual on this blog.

On LeGrove, the day after that great performance, they all crawled out of the woodwork to do what they do every day on LeGrove:-

Omar: “The Wengerites will walk around thumping their chests and praising Wenger over these last 2 FA Cup wins. But consider this, relegation threatened Aston Villa (17th) made the finals”.

LP: “I know Omar, it’s so boring winning Fa cups”
Alex Cutter: “Boring, no. Not all that impressive, yes.”

Bamford10: “Agree, Alex: better wins en route this year; still not all that impressive. “Only losers want to win things by playing the weakest possible competition. Again, that’s a loser’s mentality.”

Wallace: The FA Cup is one of the great competitions in the world.
Alex Cutter: “If it were, then Chelsea and MC would have given a shit about it”

    Lol.

Make of that lot what you will.

PS: I don’t believe it has anything to do with what Country you come from, it’s probably just a coincidence the above are American. It simply comes down to how narrow minded and stupid you are. If celebrating Arsenal success makes you unhappy, because you see it as somehow proving you were wrong, you need to find something else to do, because it’s going to get worse. Try supporting the club instead of your narrow minded agenda.

  23. Alfie

“worst come to worst that could work, though I’d imagine general sale would be going on, no?”

Probably but I thought the whole idea was to get a group of us together. If its just going to be me and you buddy than a few gallons of beer?

Meh, Im easy. See if N5 turns up next week.

  24. Carts

Benteke: I think he’s (marginally) better than Giroud. He is not worth £32.5m though, and kudos to Villa for inserting those clause.

I always wonder how much input a player has when it comes to buy-out clause, cos unless the figure is genuinely reasonable, I find it hard to comprehend why a player, such as Benteke, would agree to it knowing that it could well spell the end of any move.

I mean, Liverpool seem to have a penchant of paying over the odds, but £32.5m is at least £8m more than he’s worth. Same goes for Sterling.

  25. ArseneWengerNose

Benteke has shown that on a good day he can be a terror up front, but I’m not sure he’s been consistent or healthy enough, and for that I’d consider him a big gamble.

  26. Honest Bill

We all know we need a couple more players, but there’s really no need for everyone to start having a tantrum just because our rivals got a new toy and we didn’t.

There’s plenty of time left for us to sign players. Ranting about it and calling Wenger bizarre names isn’t going to help. In fact, all it does is, make the poster responsible look like a whining, petulant child.

Honestly, it’s like reading the fucking diary of Veruca Salt.

  27. Le Prof

    qna

‘Lame club fitting of supporters like Le Prick.’

Go get lost in the outback you Aussie cunt.

Bushtucker Athletic are playing this weekend so hopefully we wont hear fuck all from you.

  28. Alfie

Benteke to Liverpool is probably about the right match.

As for the price – Everything is going up in terms of costs, seems about right for what he has achieved.

  29. underrated Coq

    Naijagunner

Re Benteke, its a 50-50. He could well go up a notch or two in a bigger club with better teammates around him. But its just as likely that he could be found out as an average midtable level striker.

Personally I think the latter case is more likely. Giroud has often been criticised of blowing hot and cold. Benteke is even worse than Giroud at that IMO. Way too inconsistent.

  30. qna

Fuck you all. I can call my club lame. Do you know what the word lame means. You are from fucking england for fucks sake. The club is lame, impotent, apatheitc. Unable to act. Dont have the will to compete. I have been saying this about the club, its board, its owners, ivan for years. This is not news. I have even suggested that it is not even wengers choice for this and that the new manager will have the same piss poor backing in the transfer market.

And it is fitting that Le Prick and co, with the same limp dickness, are its supporters. Thats not to say we dont have a hell of a lot of supporters with ambition and expectations that out club is currently not living up to.

  31. Klauspoppe

“On LeGrove, the day after that great performance, they all crawled out of the woodwork to do what they do every day on LeGrove:-”

Yep selective recollection as usual. Suddenly a few minority posters that day ruins the site? Why don’t post the celebratory and positive comments from that day as well.

You’re an extremist yourself, just on the other end. I mean I would like to know how many would stand up again at this assertion from other posters.

I can assume the retxrd that had labelled Midwest on Pedro’s side as one of em.

  32. Bamford10

    Klauspoppe

I think you might have aimed your “cunt”-tipped verbal arrow at the wrong poster. I don’t think QNA is your problem.

    Daz

    Fair enough.

    Le Prof

Relax. QNA simply wants Arsenal to be great again, and, like many of us, he thinks we need a couple more class players. He can be a bit unrealistic (and fantasy-land) at times, but I don’t see why he should be getting you or anyone else so upset.

Definitely doesn’t deserve crude, nationalistic insults.

  33. daz

Although I feel we could use a better option to flameta i see that if it does happen 1 thing will also happen in another player will become the fringe player won’t get enough games and lose form and confidence so when called upon won’t perform then people will move on to that player as the “shouldn’t be anywhere near the bench” thing to complain about

  34. Blsany

Theme ot the day is don’t say anything bad about Arsenalk or Wenger or you will have to look for another club.

  35. ArseneWengerNose

I really think if we’re going to sign anybody, it’s going to be after the season starts, and only if we don’t start very well.

Examples backing this up are plenty: delaying any kind of action until after the 8-2 thrashing in 2011, Wenger pushing Sanogo aggressively after Giroud went down last season only for him to fail and soon after we got Welbeck, etc…

A mad strategy that has proven to fail time and again. Why wait until the final to do your job? Also, if you go into the summer with a plan and try to execute it early, you’re more than likely going to get the best available players rather than wait until it’s desperation time and have to overpay for someone who’s probably not even high on your list.

  36. Klauspoppe

    Bamford

Regardless of what he actually thinks of Arsenal, that was self implosion.

The racist remarks just exposed the type of cunts on Willow’s spectrum.

Don’t sweat it mate. These people worship the ground Wenger walks on.Poor humble man who only cares about Arsenal yet he banks more than the players he manages.

  38. Bamford10

    QNA

You may feel a bit “persecuted” at moment, but don’t be bothered by it. You’re not alone in your frustration re Wenger and the club over the past ten years.

Indeed you’re among the majority here. MOST OF US have been (and continue to be) frustrated with Wenger — even now.

At times, as I’ve said, your prescriptions are a bit unrealistic, but you’re still in a big camp here — the bigger camp, I’d say —- so don’t worry about AKB/optimist/nativist insults.

  39. Klauspoppe

    Daz

If we had Schneidelin and Coquelin competing for the same spot, even if one slowly became deadwood, it’s still much better headache to have than being defeatist.

I mean you got to have some skepticism of significant injury to any of our core players?

It would be amazing if our players had less injuries but it just doesn’t happen in a few months. Surely its acceptable some people don’t expect this either.

  40. Sam

Axel Witsel is really the kind of player Arsenal need as he can also play DM. I am sure Chelsea are signing him primarily to deny us or man utd from getting him. Someone tell Wenger please, another arsenal fan going to Play for abramovic coz we ignored him

  41. Blsany

Exactly he is the sort of a player we could have gone for.Take Schneiderlin he was scouted more times than a pornstar on casting couch and then never even bidded it for him.For the fuckers who were wondering who is a back up to Matic. There you have your answer.Fucking Axel Witsel.

  42. ArseneWengerNose

    @Klauspoppe
Spot on mate. This idea that we need to protect the players feelings and not add competition is ridiculous. I love me some Coq as much as the next guy, but for a professional athlete, healthy competition is never a bad thing. The best teams in Europe usually have strong benches and players who’d easily start on other teams, I don’t know why some Arsenal fans think it’s a problem to have a strong bench.

  43. Bamford10

The oddest thing about Liverpool signing Benteke for 32m is not the price. He’s easily worth that — esp. in today’s market.

It’s not even that he doesn’t quite fit their style, though I agree he is not a perfect fit.

The oddest thing is that Sturridge is set to return soon, I think. Now, I’d love to have two quality CFs — and I would trade Giroud and Welbeck for Sturridge and Benteke in a milisecond — I wonder what they are going to do when Sturridge is fully-fit.

    Will be interesting to see

  44. WengerEagle

He’s not worth £32.5 million, that’s crazy money.

Just like Firmino wasn’t worth £30 million. (Who I really rate)

Liverpool will be bang average yet again next season and won’t qualify for the UCL.

  45. Blsany

    Bamford
    maybe they’ll go with
    Milner-Hendo
    Coutinho
    Sturridge-Benteke-Firmino

Decent side but not sure Sturridge is going to be happy on the wings.

  46. Bamford10

    Sam

    Agreed. Witsel is great.

    Alfie

You’re hilarious. Any friendliness or camaraderie between men-folk is “homosexual”. No need to worry, though; I’ve done my part to be a friendly, fellow poster and will now return to being dogmatic jerk. 😉

  47. Alfie

Benteke is easily worth £32m in this current market.

Currently averaging around a goal every other game for a crap Villa side.

I have a feeling that Sturridge is going to spend the next X years in and out of the physio room

  48. Blsany

£32m is a bit steep considering Depay went for 22 million.Who might just be the signing of the season imo.

  49. Naijagunner

Calling the club u support lame cause they didnt buy the list of players ( by the way qna’s list changes daily) does not really add anything to the conversation.

as for how to support the club, everyone has his own ways of showing passion, some can be way over the top, but to each his own.

And if Ster;ling is worth 49million, i think benteke is pretty much worth what his buy out clause says he is, u eithr pay it or walk away.

  50. Honest Bill

Sturridge is a very good player. Not arsed about Benteke though. He is wildly inconsistent.

He might look better with better players around him but then you could say that about many players.

Not overly impressed by liverpool’s transfer business really. They can buy as many strikers as they want but their defence is still average.

  51. Bamford10

    Blsany

Agree that Depay is excellent and could prove to be one of the best signings of the summer, but he is a wide player, not a CF, and there is a premium on CFs that doesn’t exist for wide players.

  52. Carts

“The oddest thing is that Sturridge is set to return soon, I think. Now, I’d love to have two quality CFs — and I would trade Giroud and Welbeck for Sturridge and Benteke in a milisecond — I wonder what they are going to do when Sturridge is fully-fit. ”

I actually think Rodgers has lost faith in Sturridge…so much so that he’s prepared to start a fully fit (whatever that means) Sturridge from the bench as long as Benteke is supplying the goods.

  53. Blsany

Ox has to step up he is in direct competition with Depay,Sterling Hazard age wise.I hope this is his season. Will he get chances over fully fit Walcott though?

  54. Honest Bill

Depay is a gamble. 20m will look like great business if he turns out to be another Suarez, but if he is the new Dirk Kuyt then it looks like daylight robbery. They didn’t charge 30m for him for only one reason. Nobody would pay that for him.

  55. WengerEagle

Not a bad point Carts, there were a few matches towards the end of the season where he opted to start Sterling as the false 9 and left a fit Sturridge on the bench.

  56. Blsany

    Honest Bill
Not true he had all kinds top teams chasing him every one just gave up after LVG talked him into coming to Man utd.Bayern for one were serious about him.Something tells me this kid is special.Fearless warrior.

  57. Alfie

    “*Ronaldo or Nani.

    Fixed it for you.”

The only reason I opted for Anderson is because Nani always seemed to terrorise the shit out of us.

Was always worried when he played us.

  58. Alfie

“Ox has to step up he is in direct competition with Depay,Sterling Hazard age wise.I hope this is his season”

    Fast forward to 2020 –

“I have a feeling this is going to be Ox season”

  59. Carts

    Eagle

I noticed that a few time as well.

There’s no denying Studge’s tekks, but there a side to his game that would piss of a non-football fan, that I think Rodgers doesn’t like.

The longer Benteke manager a 1 in 2.1 ratio, the longer Studge get splinters.
I say a 1 in 2.1 ratio cos I believe Liverpool will probably get quite a few goals from the likes of Firmino, Coutinho and 1 or 2 others.

  60. WengerEagle

Yeah Nani mauled us in the F.A Cup in 2008, still remember Gilberto trying to kick lumps out of him when he started seal dribbling at 4-0 up.

Just think he’s a better comparison as he plays in the same position as Ronaldo and Depay do.

And Depay is getting compared to Ronaldo like Nani did.

  61. underrated Coq

    Honest Bill

” He might look better with better players around him but then you could say that about many players. ”

Agreed. Logic like that doesn’t always work in football. By the same logic, you could say Harry Kane will be destroying goal scoring records if he moves to Real Madrid.

Also, if the likes of Benteke go for 32.5 million, Alexis Sanchez at 35 million was daylight robbery.

  62. Blsany

Ox has it all Alfie just needs to be more selfish and shoot more often other than that i think he has all the tools for a wide unpredictable player.

  63. Sam

Yes Flamini did well as sub in a season we finished miles behind Chelsea. Dont you think we should upgrade in order to compete? Giroud n welbeck also need upgrading. I dare to say Kieran Gibbs as well. In reality we need 4 new players but can settle with 2 for now

  64. Highbury4ever

“Not overly impressed by liverpool’s transfer business really. ”
Yep, the exact opposite to Arsenal’s business lol

  65. Alfie

“Ox has it all Alfie just needs to be more selfish and shoot more often other than that i think he has all the tools for a wide unpredictable player”

Nah, I agree mate and I know he is young but I think that him, along with Wilshere and Welbeck need to step it UP this season.

  66. ArseneWengerNose

Injuries have really fucked up Ox’s progression at the club. Then again you could say the same about a number of players.

  67. ArseneWengerNose

“Yeah Nani mauled us in the F.A Cup in 2008, still remember Gilberto trying to kick lumps out of him when he started seal dribbling at 4-0 up. ”

That game was so infuriating because Wenger didn’t take it seriously (Hoyte and Traore starting if I recall). It ended up being a humiliating defeat (could’ve easily been 8-0), and undoubtedly had an adverse effect on the team going forward,

  68. karim

    Alfie/ Carts / Northern

Still nothing from N5, guys, doesn’t sound like him, hope he’s ok.
Gonna have to wait for another year, I’m afraid….well, as far as I’m concerned anyway.

  69. nasri's mouth

Ox stepped it up last season. He still missed the end product, but when he was fit he started a lot of games. I think we’ll see further improvement from him again.

Oh and Alfie, give us a big kiss

  70. nasri's mouth

I think I read a while back that Sturridge isn’t back till September / October from his latest op.

Then factor in how match rusty he’ll be, the high chance of some small niggling injuries that players get after a long spell out and it could be past Xmas before he’s back 100%. Then add in the possibility that he’s always going to have this issue, and you can understand why Rodgers needs alternatives.

I honestly don’t understand why he bought Balotelli or Lambert, who were both so very different to the style of attack that Liverpool play and I’m not convinced that Benteke is right for them either. Rodgers doesn’t seem to want to play to his players strengths, (last season he went with Sterling up front just to get movement and trickery) so I’m not sure he’ll tweak things much to suit Benteke.

But Rodgers seems to be on shaky ground so there’s little point keeping money in the bank for the next manager to spend, he might as well give it his best shot now in case he’s out of a job by Xmas
