Petr Cech dropped (oh god, not another dropper) the biggest hint yet that he’s looking to stay in London.
“I will decide based on what for me and my family was the best and it does not matter whether it is England, Germany, France and Spain,”
“Next week we will have a meeting with Chelsea when the situation is clearer and all the cards are on the table. If I move, it brings difficulties. I must change everything, looking for housing, a school for children and so on.”
Sounds promising, right?
Well, I’m not so sure. Firstly, Wenger has to be willing to admit that sometimes, statistics need to be given context. Ospina might have great stats, but you know the likelihood of him lasting a season at the top of the pile is quite unlikely.
Then you also must remember that London is a big city with many teams. Lloris is looking like he could make a move to United, then you have Spurs looking for a new keeper (unless they’re going to go with Vorm). So, point is, it’s not as cut and shut as we might think. I’d assume that Abramovich did some sort of family man deal with Cech if he kept quiet and behaved as number two this year.
We’ll see though… He’d be an excellent signing. He’s done it all. I don’t think he ever found the form that made him probably the most invincible keeper in the world at one point. That head injury killed him a little bit. But there’s no reason he can’t get back to his best and he’d certainly improve the spine of our team immensely.
Some interesting rumblings on the Rosicky contract. I’d heard he wasn’t going to stay on because he wasn’t playing… well, it turns out his contract was renewed because of a clause (he probably took it, because it likely renewed at £80k or whatever he earns).
“Since the moment Arsene Wenger used the option in my contract (to keep Rosicky for another season), I haven’t been even on the bench,” he said.
“I am laughing but it´s not funny. It´s frustrating but I am a professional. Even if you lose your place, you must be still prepared because the situation can change.”
Well Tomas, it’s pretty unlikely you’ll be getting many more than the 5 starts you landed last season. It’s a shame, such a talent. Also pretty sad that we didn’t get the most out of him when he was in his prime.
The AST had their meeting last night. They’ve said that there’s £70m available to spend this summer, but clearly, there’s going to be more if we want to lay our hands on more players.
I’m not sure it’s going to be a mad summer. But hopefully a keeper and very good DM. I think the shame in the quiet summer is that we never go hard to make sure… but, we usually need the 5-6 players because we don’t keep our stars fit.
Finally, an amusing quote from Didier Deschamps at half time when his team played Belgium.
‘You’re more interested in your hair cuts!’
Banter. Wouldn’t have been Olivier Giroud that barb was aimed at?
John Cross reckons we might move for Jackson Martinez if we can sell Joel Campbell, Yaya Sanogoals and Lukas ‘I wanna stay and help’ Podolski.
So, basically, we won’t be seeing Jackson at the club.
Finally, Kike Marin, a journo in the know, reckons Santi is going to stick out another year. Mesut will be happy about this as well. He had this to say on Arsenal.com.
Santi’s been very strong,”
“He’s had to adapt to a new position which he may not have always been used to playing in.
“I think he’s been excellent this year. We’re very happy to have a player like him in our ranks. He’s very good on the ball, as we all know, and is now very defensively strong too.
“I think we’ll have lots of enjoyment with him over the years because he’s a creative player and it’s a lot of fun for me to play alongside him.”
HAPPY DAYS BRUH.
See you lovelies tomorrow. xx
