Keeper drops hint (not the ball) | Santi making Ozil purrrrrr

by .

Petr Cech dropped (oh god, not another dropper) the biggest hint yet that he’s looking to stay in London.

“I will decide based on what for me and my family was the best and it does not matter whether it is England, Germany, France and Spain,”

“Next week we will have a meeting with Chelsea when the situation is clearer and all the cards are on the table. If I move, it brings difficulties. I must change everything, looking for housing, a school for children and so on.”

Sounds promising, right?

Well, I’m not so sure. Firstly, Wenger has to be willing to admit that sometimes, statistics need to be given context. Ospina might have great stats, but you know the likelihood of him lasting a season at the top of the pile is quite unlikely.

Then you also must remember that London is a big city with many teams. Lloris is looking like he could make a move to United, then you have Spurs looking for a new keeper (unless they’re going to go with Vorm). So, point is, it’s not as cut and shut as we might think. I’d assume that Abramovich did some sort of family man deal with Cech if he kept quiet and behaved as number two this year.

We’ll see though… He’d be an excellent signing. He’s done it all. I don’t think he ever found the form that made him probably the most invincible keeper in the world at one point. That head injury killed him a little bit. But there’s no reason he can’t get back to his best and he’d certainly improve the spine of our team immensely.

Some interesting rumblings on the Rosicky contract. I’d heard he wasn’t going to stay on because he wasn’t playing… well, it turns out his contract was renewed because of a clause (he probably took it, because it likely renewed at £80k or whatever he earns).

“Since the moment Arsene Wenger used the option in my contract (to keep Rosicky for another season), I haven’t been even on the bench,” he said.

“I am laughing but it´s not funny. It´s frustrating but I am a professional. Even if you lose your place, you must be still prepared because the situation can change.”

Well Tomas, it’s pretty unlikely you’ll be getting many more than the 5 starts you landed last season. It’s a shame, such a talent. Also pretty sad that we didn’t get the most out of him when he was in his prime.

The AST had their meeting last night. They’ve said that there’s £70m available to spend this summer, but clearly, there’s going to be more if we want to lay our hands on more players.

I’m not sure it’s going to be a mad summer. But hopefully a keeper and very good DM. I think the shame in the quiet summer is that we never go hard to make sure… but, we usually need the 5-6 players because we don’t keep our stars fit.

Finally, an amusing quote from Didier Deschamps at half time when his team played Belgium.

‘You’re more interested in your hair cuts!’

Banter. Wouldn’t have been Olivier Giroud that barb was aimed at?

John Cross reckons we might move for Jackson Martinez if we can sell Joel Campbell, Yaya Sanogoals and Lukas ‘I wanna stay and help’ Podolski.

So, basically, we won’t be seeing Jackson at the club.

Finally, Kike Marin, a journo in the know, reckons Santi is going to stick out another year. Mesut will be happy about this as well. He had this to say on

Santi’s been very strong,”

“He’s had to adapt to a new position which he may not have always been used to playing in.

“I think he’s been excellent this year. We’re very happy to have a player like him in our ranks. He’s very good on the ball, as we all know, and is now very defensively strong too.

“I think we’ll have lots of enjoyment with him over the years because he’s a creative player and it’s a lot of fun for me to play alongside him.”

See you lovelies tomorrow. xx

I’m only half serious, though his form was ridiculous then.

I don’t mind how we improve, it’s more the people who are complete fanboys who hype up anyone we’re linked with and then start writing in their diaries about how much they hate their life and Arsenal when we supposedly miss out on them.

That’s just one game though. Had Villa decided to press high like some teams do then the whole team would have had to play differently. You can play balls in behind for Theo but you can’t use him as a target, nor do you want players too close to him as is necessary with Giroud.

Higuain isn’t really comparable to either. Though he’s better than both, you still need to adapt to him tactically.

Rocky, he looks ok. Decent finisher not much else. Somewhere like Newcastle is probably his level. Hasn’t shown enough in his game to make me think he’s anywhere near Arsenal level.

  4. Arsene's Nurse

My mistake – Diaby did have a squad place, Miyaichi didn’t he was on loan. So it’s only one place.

Anyone remember that Sam or sam or Simon on here who was constantly championing the likes of Miyachi? Poor kid.

Good riddance. Glad to hear we’re shedding some dross.

Lol that was hilarious. He was going to be “our Cristiano Ronaldo” lolololololol,

  6. Goonergirl

Alexis needs to run off the ball more. He wants the ball at his feet a bit too much. If he can make more off the ball runs he’ll be an even better player. Hopefully he can add this to his game. I don’t get the Ramsey as a striker bit either

  7. MadeToLoveMagic

Keyser regardless of what wenger did re. video stuff in the early nineties, we know for a fact that a couple of years ago, the players had an optional video pack emailed to them. That’s all.

    So what is your point?

  8. Romford Ozil Pele

The ones with squad places that are likely to leave:

    J. Campbell
    Sanogo (loan)
    Akpom (loan)
    Gnabry (loan)

  9. Rocky Pires

    Other young striker s

    – Mitrovic of Anderlecht – 27 goals in 50 Games – looks real deal, Made of Serbian Steel

    – Batshuayi – L’OM – 19 goals in 28 games – Showed Interest previous

    – Drmmic – Lever – 6 goals in 38 – not so big of a loss now?

Then curve ball in Lukaku – 20 goals in 48 games, fast powerful, want Champions League?
    – Rolan – Bordeaux – 16 goals in 38

    Arsenal players being released:
Abou Diaby, Jack Jebb, Oluwasemilogo Adesewo Ajayi, Austin Lipman, Ryo Miyaichi, Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill, Josh Vickers.

I remember Pedro championing this little Jack jebb fella.

Why is miyachi leaving again ? He’s young, doesn’t cost more than 20 k a week and is considered home grown.. also he never got a chance to prove himself !!

Goonergirl –Welcome back! That must have been a messy kitchen!

“he never got a chance to prove himself !!”

He’s had chances on loan. Done nothing of note. Serge Gnabry is three years younger and much better.

MTLM – Read the posts mate, you’re talking bollocks, right now instead of actually reading the posts, your mind’s probably thinking ‘He said I talk bollocks I must not let him say that to me.’

I don’t say the medical revolution started then. I said ‘Supposedly’.

    2010 –

    2011 –

“I asked why our injury record was so much better last year in comparison to years gone past. This answer was quite interesting and definitely opened my eyes to the blurred grey lines when analysing injuries.”

    Read the response.

“I asked how GPS had impacted on the club. They both became pretty animated.”

    Read the response.

I’m pretty sure we probably make continuous reviews, but Wenger’s been asked about it previous to the past 2 years and he said we’ve looked into it.

You basically want me to agree with you, your position isn’t logical, or rational.

Wenger did video analysis, back when video analysis was in VHS, 2 and a half decades ago, this doesn’t mean he’s always used it or how in depth it was, but at least it doesn’t put some finite decision around it, posting him as some sort of dinosaur because he’s not doing Minority Report wizadry. He was at the forefront of any medical innovation he could find when he first arrived.

Do you think the logical or rational answer is that he simply ‘lost it’ during a period you’ve allocated ? ‘He lost it brah’ Thats’ basically all you’ve come up with.

You say during that period he became dogmatic, rigid, when everything points to the contrary.

I’m not defending Wenger there, I’m saying for possibly the first time that period is when he has little option, no answer, but to adapt the situation around him, whereas he’d always had a plan long-term or otherwise, he’s left reeling from not just Fabregas’s departure, but Nasri’s aswell.

Think about it that summer, we’re selling Nasri in the last week of the window, and we go on an almighty trolley dash, compare that to the following year when we’ve basically bought Van Persie’s replacements before he leaves.

I’d like to know how Miyachi going to explain this to Kim Jong Un!

Over a glass of whiskey and a revolver.

  16. relieable sauce

The die hard AKB seem to be making less sense than usual. Dont know whats got them licking windows?? We are in a good place to push on now Arsene has bucked his ideas up.

Thank heavens for the WOB ; )

Arsene has plenty of time, choices & money to get the job done.
I’m fairly confident we will have a good TW if the early signs are anything to go by.

This is one transfer window i’m not going to stress over.
Life is too short & so are the English summers.

  17. Romford Ozil Pele

Man City release Micah Richards? Don’t they need English players?

More importantly, Gylfi Sigurdsson’s middle name is Thor. Great name.

  18. Carts

“Man City release Micah Richards? Don’t they need English players?”

That athletic lump couldn’t stay fit if he sat every game on the bench. If Clyne leaves, I think Soton would be a good move for him.

  19. Lee

Ryo. We never truly appreciated your considerable talent. good luck, not that you’ll need it.

I suppose gnabry will have to suffice
