Wenger hardly categoric on future of player

Welcome!

Tired?

Did you stay up the whole way through to watch the MayPac fight? I didn’t. I went to bed and woke up. Bit of a bore fest. Felt like a Champions League final with Chelsea involved.

… holler if you’ve spent the whole morning removing viruses from your laptop because you tried to get a free feed for the match?

HOLLER!

Right. What’s going on with Arsenal today?

Well, Jack is ahead of schedule on the fitness front. Not sure how that works, he’s about 3 months behind by my reckoning.

“At the moment there are 30 days to go. What is my worry is Hull; I don’t care about the FA Cup at the moment. I am careful with Jack but he will play before the end of the season, of course. It is difficult to get in this team, I don’t deny that. If you consider any individual case you can say you are sorry that he doesn’t play.”

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens when he returns. Wenger said he needs one to two years of zero problems to regain his fitness.

“You live in a job where you need to trust your body. Jack is one of them who plays with freedom as soon as he’s back. So I don’t think on that front it will be a problem. He needs now one or two years without problems to really get the full confidence and belief back and I don’t see why it shouldn’t happen.”

I’m hoping that a lot of the injuries we suffered at the start of the season were because we didn’t have an embedded shad. Our injury record Jan onwards has been far more impressive and so has our win ratio. If we’re still picking up regular injury issues with Chambo, Jack and Theo moving into next season, then we have a problem with the players. Hopefully that’s not the case.

“He is an Arsenal player. I believe the success of the club in the future years will depend on how well the young players educated here will do. He is part of that.”

Interesting that Wenger has grouped him in with ‘young players’ when he talks about the future. He’s not said that he’s definitely staying. I’d be surprised to see him leave, but if a massive premium bid dropped for him, I’d be surprised to see us say no… if there’s a better option on the market. But we’ll see. I don’t want to see Jack leave, I want to see him focus, keep fit and deliver on his potential. I’m just thankful we’re not in a position where we need to rely on him…

I live with someone going through a relegation battle (sounds dark. Like the follow on sentence shouod be ‘For just £2 a month’), so I’m being entertained by the amount of teams winning at the bottom. Sunderland, Villa and WBA all picking up massive points yesterday.

Even more exciting, watching Newcastle lose heavily to Leicester, then watching John Carver lose his shit after. Accusing two players of purposefully picking up red cards! Amazing. They’re in the relegation dog fight and now their manager has just thrown them under the bus. That could be a terminal blow up. Quite incredible. Even more incredible was watching the ‘greatest fans in the world’ waving red cards and ‘Ashely out posters’… during the game. Also very tasteful to hear them sing a song about him being cockney and fat. Have a pop at someone because of where they’re from, that’s cool, it’s what we do in the UK (regional), but when you have a whole group of people trying to usurp someone for being a cockney, well, it’s a bit grubby.

They deserve all they’re getting and I hope they go down.

Also lovely to see LVG’s run come to a shuddering halt. I’ve been waiting for it for a while, it’s happening, but it doesn’t look like Liverpool have enough to break into the top four. Which is a shame. Nothing sweeter than Robin missing a penalty / Tony Pulis winning with 22% possession.

Big game for us tomorrow. Hull are on a winning streak of two. We don’t want to help them to three. I’m not a fan of Steve Bruce. Nor The Tigers. Let’s take them down. Big game, no let up. We need second this season.

Right, that’s me done. See you later!

I would love to see NUFC and Ashley go down. Geordies are more addicted to the club than a $10 crack whore is to er…crack. Ashley can abuse them at will because he knows they’ll be back. At least they are protesting just like the lot at Blackpool.

The Arsenal prawn sandwich brigade will obviously think this is ghaaastly darling, just ghaaastly. What beastly people. Totaaaahhhly ya.

  2. useroz

Wilshere is not Arsenal future. Let’s not pin our hope for titles on essentially an injury prone, one-game wonder. If City offers 30m sell him.

Don’t like at all having (and paying) chronic sickies around the club. You honestly think, even with Shad’s magic, Wilshere would be injury free for 2 years so he’d regain his form?

  3. Insomnia

    Prediction:

    Hull 1 – 3 Arsenal
Ozil to score all the Arsenal goals. After, daily mail headline reads Ozil Rubbish Again –

  4. vicky

United can still miss out on top 4. They play against us, Crystal palace and Hull city. Crystal palace and Hull have beaten big teams in this season, especially Crystal palace have been a tough nut to crack. If we beat United and Crystal Palace at least draw, it is game on for Liverpool and Spurs.

Ohh !! How would I love United to play in the Europa League despite all the money they spent in the summer.

  5. David Smith

Sell Wilshere……and watch him really become something at a rival run with modern sports science, injury management with a thoughtful tactical manager……no thanks. If Pedro is correct in his assumption that things really are changing at this club, we need to keep him and bring out the best in him. There is no guarantee wenger would spend the thirty million of whatever we received for him anyway. Plus, it is possible other attacking MFs may leave so there will be a place for a fit properly managed wilshere. And, Ramsey is a player that needs to be managed carefully with injuries, so plenty of opportunities to rotate. We have lost enough players to rivals.

  6. Rustygunner

The fight of the century turned out to be the worst shadow boxing match. What a waste of time! Mayweather spends all 12 rounds running away from Packman and then wins with anonymous decision. Whatever happened to boxing I will not be getting caught up in the hype again.

  7. Thomas

Glad I didn’t pay to watch that fight. Only Pacman tried to do something. I know it’s tactics from Floyd but still. ZZZZZZzzzzzzz.

  8. Charlie Boy

An American losing a boxing match on American soil? What did you expect (those of you who spunked you hard-earned on a non-event) – really?

In the words of BA Barracus – “I pity the fool…!”

  9. gunnergetyou

Don’t think we’ll get rid of Wilshere. It sends out the wrong signals. It seems like alot of foreign fans have a problem with our so called British core but whether you like it or not we a British football club and for the sake of our identity it is important that we still have a healthy British contingent. Of course I want us to continue to bring in top players from around Europe so that we can challenge next season. Players like Welbeck, Wilshere, Ox, Gibbs and Rambo are all decent squad players and are better than most of their British counterparts. Man city could be in spot of bother because they may not have enough British players to meet their quota. We don’t need their money.

  10. Charlie Boy

Regarding Wilshere’s injury, he was lamed by the filthy Paddy McNair – so all this crap about Shad not being good enough is utter bollocks to be honest.

I can understand fans getting annoyed at The Arsenal continuing to give deals to players who sadly won’t be the same again – but please don’t be getting arsey (with our medical staff) when one of our lad’s has been crippled by a so-called fellow professional.

What McNair did was no different to what Shawcross or those twats who crippled Eduardo or Diaby.

Yes it’s true, we do have injuries and sometimes they seem to take forever to heal – but that’s true of many other clubs.

In my book, referees should offer more protection to the players, like they do in Europe. Don’t get me wrong, I like to see a good tackle like the next person – but I don’t like seeing quality players constantly hacked and stamped on.

If we let this practice continue, all the best players will go to Europe and we’ll be left with a premier league full of Stokes and Chelseas – happy to kill the beautiful game!

    Afternoon Grovers,

The boxing was a big fuss about nothing. Paid the 19.99 through Virgin, stayed up and nearly fell asleep. Not sure how mayweather won on points as he was forever retreating and staying out of the way. Didn’t land as many punches as Manny IMO, bit of a fix if you ask me.

    Bound to be a rematch.

Cesc lifting the title today is going to be a sickening sight for me but fair play to him, not his fault Wenger had lost his mind after Cesc left and decided to exercise his right in being a complete tit by not taking up the buy back clause.

Cesc and Ozil instead of Ramsey/Arteta/Flamini and Ozil and I dare say he’d still be lifting the title but in our colours looking a fucksight happier and where he belongs.

Criminal decision not to sign him.

Moving forward, as I said yesterday, I fear selling Wilshere could backfire and think we should at least afford him 2 or 3 more years to prove himself considering the amount of time we’ve given Diaby.

  12. Redtruth

Maybe 3 or 4 games Arsenal have been pleasing on the eye but the majority has been getting the job done football and grinding out backs to the wall results which hypocritical fans were citing as a new found resilience.

  13. Bamford10

Commentator just noted that Chelsea have only spent 80m net in last four windows whereas they had spent 200m net in the last four windows of Mourinho’s previous stint.

What have we spent net in the last four windows? I think something like 90m. Will look up those numbers again.

(Am well aware that one cannot really look at the numbers above without factoring in the money spent in the 3-4 years prior as well. Still, Chelsea are spending less than they were net.)

  14. gunnergetyou

“The fight of the century turned out to be the worst shadow boxing match. What a waste of time! Mayweather spends all 12 rounds running away from Packman and then wins with anonymous decision.”

Boxing is a highly skilled and discipline sport. If Mayweather stands still and goes toe to toe with Pacman he probably gets knocked out. Can’t believe people didn’t see this coming.

  15. alex cutter

“Can’t believe people didn’t see this coming.”

The only people who couldn’t see this coming were those stupid enough to spend their time/money watching this cynical cash-grab between two complete assholes.

  16. gunnergetyou

“Commentator just noted that Chelsea have only spent 80m net in last four windows whereas they had spent 200m net in the last four windows of Mourinho’s previous stint.”

I think they have spent big but it’s slightly distorted by the sales of Mata and Lukaku who both went for big money. But they are now benefiting from their previous investments and unlike City they have been able to sell players on for a good profit.

  17. kwik fit

So Mourinho brings on Zuoma to hold on to the one nil dive. What a truly boring boring fucker he is .

We are a British club dominated for the last 20 years by a Frenchman lol

Oh dear. Not sure what’s funny about your statement Redtruth. You heard of modern transportation, passports and freedom of trade? I don’t get the relevance to the post or your point.

Why don’t you try adding something constructive to this blog? All you do is post random irrelevant sentences trying to get a rise out of people. It’s very tedious.

  19. Byo

    @Redtroll-
    Get a life.
No one here really think you bring any insight to any conversation. You apparently make comments to engender negative responses.

  20. Bamford10

Mayweather is a truly despicable person. His camp banned two prominent female reporters from covering the fight last night because they had the gall to question or criticize him for his serial abuse of women.

Arrogant, misogynistic and cares only about two things: money and Floyd Mayweather.

His mentioning himself in the same breath as Ali was galling.

Glad I didn’t watch this chump. Complete loser.

  21. peanuts&monkeys

This league cus have been ours if Wenger bought a striker. Playing the top competition of the world without a striker – it’s like screwing the fans and telling them ‘ do what you want, I will never buy a striker’

  22. Bamford10

    Benny

Don’t even bother. Hopeless case. Only thing to do is ignore and wait for him to be binned.

  23. alex cutter

“I think they have spent big but it’s slightly distorted by the sales of Mata and Lukaku who both went for big money. ”

Your forgetting $50+ million for David Luiz.

  24. kwik fit

I suppose it is only fitting that a dive wins chelsea the league. Befitting of the hateful bastard they truly are.

“Can’t believe people didn’t see this coming.”The only people who couldn’t see this coming were those stupid enough to spend their time/money watching this cynical cash-grab between two complete assholes.

Not at all. I don’t consider myself stupid. I wanted to watch it live for myself and be able to make my own mind up based on what I saw and not on hearsay or opinion.

I did think about watching it Pedro’s way by feeding a dodgy stream and getting my laptop hijacked by viruses but thought a twenty was better value.

  26. alex cutter

    ” I don’t consider myself stupid.”

    No one ever does.

Funny thing is that if this fight would have happened back when either fighter was at his peak, an the fight was relevant, the result would have been exactly the same.

  27. Mick Mahoney

Floyd threw and landed more punches… FACT. The other fellow had 36 mins to catch him and couldn’t put more than six of them to good use. As ignorant as your views on boxing are, they’re light years ahead of your estimations on football. You lot crack on though you’re as funny as fuck.

  28. Keyser

I don’t think Boxing has been relevant for decades, but wasn’t there something about Mayweather having boxed too many games ad the bones in his hands starting to show micro-fractures.

That he needed time off to let them heal or his boxing career was over ?

  29. Uwot?

Who gives a shit re the chavs net spend? It’s the amount they continually spend that’s obscene& it’s a bit rich for all those arse lickers on Sunday supplement/sky sports to try & justify it.gary Neville etc trying their best .misses the point completely.it’s half a billion or more they’ve spunked to play like a mid table team tactically!how many £20/25 million plus players have they spent on last few seasons …grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

  30. kwik fit

City drew level with chelsea on new years day after the spuds ripped them apart. Then Mourinho went back to his boring boring football.

  31. Salvage

And so we go with Wenger saying the same things he said at the end of last season. No hope of winning the league with Wenger to be honest. He is not driven or brutal enough

  32. Redtruth

So fans would prefer to see exciting football and win nothing to boring boring football that wins trophies lol, who’s trolling now lol

  33. Samesong

Cup final for Hull tomorrow, we need to be ready.

Hope the boys aren’t thinking of their holidays just yet.

  34. Marc

Sky, Mourinho and Chelsea trying to rewrite history now.

They’re no longer a rich club and are living within their means – my arse. Look at the value of the players they’ve sold over the last 2 years all of which were bought before FFP. Lukaku, Mata and Luiz add up to something like £110 million. Want to see how Mourinho does when he can’t sell off all of the players they have out on loan any more.

  35. Salvage

For goodness sakes Wenger get angry. Get angry enough to resolve to win the league. Do all it takes and be counted. How do you sit and watch as players who struggle under you, just move over to our rivals and pick up the elusive trophy? VP, Nasri, now Fabregas. GET ANGRY. GET DISTURBED AND ANGRY . You lack the drive damn it.

  36. Redtruth

Trolls are those who say Di Maria is world class, Coquelin should be replaced, injuries cost Arsenal the Title and Wenger is finally adapting his style of management.

  37. Bamford10

To compete for the EPL or CL titles next year we need something like the following additions (at a minimum):

    GK – Cech or comparable
    CDM – Kondogbia or comparable
    CF – Lacazette or Benteke

  38. Bamford10

Those saying Mourinho has the luxury of selling a player like Lukaku to balance the books fail to acknowledge that buying players with genuine resale value (eg, Lukaku) might be a superior strategy to digging around in the bargain bin for players like Sanogo.

  39. gunnergetyou

“Those saying Mourinho has the luxury of selling a player like Lukaku to balance the books fail to acknowledge that buying players with genuine resale value (eg, Lukaku) might be a superior strategy to digging around in the bargain bin for players like Sanogo.”

I agree, but Wenger has done this in the past with the likes of Anelka, Adebeyour, RVP.

It would be interesting to see their net spend over the last 10 years.

  40. Dimitri

Lol didn’t know Mayweather denied the female reporters access. Good on him. Why should he give shit stirrers a free ride to prominence off the back of his hard earned name so they can deliberately drag him through the mud. Fuck them and their shitty SJW agenda, they will go back to where they belong once their husband’s (the government) money runs out and we no longer have to live in a cuntocracy.

Fight was boring yeah, but Mayweather had a good plan and stuck to it. Honestly after the fight his interview was surprisingly a lot more humble than Pacman’s and I hate when they slip it in there they were carrying an injury into the fight. That’s poor form.

  41. mysticleaves

Arsenal buying Benteke from Aston villa is like buying Arteta from Everton.

We all know how some of our fans see the deal now

  42. tunnygriffboy

Agree Mourinho got third highest wage bill. In that respect he has done well. How much have City and man u underachieved by comparison ?

    Bamford

You are right about Chelsea net spending being down. Hopefully ffp is starting to take effect. Does make me laugh Mourinho getting in a hissy fit about wanting to fine city points for breaking ffp rules. This is a team full of £30 millionpound players. All they have done is sell a £30 million player replacing him with another. It’s no wonder their net spending is down

We now have two players of that value and are able to add to them. However we are still massively playing catch up. We will get there eventually

Ps. Just seen Aguero’s goal. There are only a handful of strikers that can do that consistently. How many are available to buy ? Otherwise we have to take an expensive punt on someone like Lacazette who although hugely promising is not proven at the top level.

  43. Bamford10

    Pedro

Take a long look at this Dimitri character’s post above (as well as some of his previous posts). Pretty disgusting. This guy should be binned. You don’t need to be associated with such ugly misogyny, backwardness and, frankly, fascism.

  44. Marc

    Bamford

I think you’ve really missed what Chelsea have been doing. For someone who claims to have a great understanding of the sport you miss some really obvious things on occasions.

  45. Dusty Kart

Who cares about Chelsea’s net spend we have got the financial firepower but sadly are lumbered with a manager who’s too frightened to compete.

  46. Bamford10

    Marc

You’ve missed my point. I’m neither defending Chelsea nor Mourinho’s remarks in general. I’m simply pointing out that there is some limited truth to his claim that they are spending less and that some arguments made by Arsenal supporters are weaker and more one-sided than they acknowledge.

You are attributing claims to me that I am not making.

  47. Joe

So Jose wins the title and in 20015 people are still using the tired excuse of the money he has. Wenger chose not to spend properly when he’s had the chance. Like the last 5-6 seasons. All we need was an extra 30m spent this summer for a DM and a CB and someone different than wellbeck. Maybe spend another 15m and get a 30m striker rather than a 16m wellbeck. So an extra 45m out of 200m that’s in the bank and we maybe win the title. I say maybe because I don’t trust wenger to win anything

  48. Marc

    Bamford

I jumped on you when I shouldn’t have sorry – I was pissed off more with Sky getting all orgasmic over how they live within their means now. Chelsea have stockpiled players using funds before FFP kicked in and are now selling those players allowing them to spend high without falling foul of FFP. If you want a laugh google “matthew syed destroys kirsty gallacher”

  49. Redtruth

How much did Chelsea sell Matic for before buying him back at a loss.

That’s not good business but then again Chelsea are not run like a business that’s why they win trophies.

  50. Keyser

Bamford10 – You’re the one calling it a superior stratedgy, they bought Lukaku for 15-18 or whatever million, he’s spent the majority of his time on loan and then they sold him.

When we lost to Chelsea last October/November ? The match day squads even with 80 million spend by us on two players, showed a 100 million pound differential.

We haven’t caught up with their on-field spending let alone what they’ve spent trying to find ways around FFP.

That was as silly an argument as whoever came up with the ‘Origi has been a better signing than Sanogo’.

  51. tunnygriffboy

    Bamford

You are right about Chelsea spending less. Ffp is having an effect. Interesting to note that how many more Mata’s, Lukaku’s and Luiz’s do they have ? I know they have ridiculous numbers out on loan but are they of the £30 million bracket.

Sooner or later they will have to mix some young players in with the superstars as players get old and injured. The players he’s beasted to win the title can’t kèep doing year on year.

How good is Mourinho at developing players ? He usual works with top class experienced players. Will be interesting.

One other thing. He had the best most experienced defence to work with this season as well. What happens if Terry gets a serious injury ? This season apart from the CF injuries and fabregas being out for a bit he’s been injury free. How strong is his squad beyond the first 15 and how much does he trust them ?

  52. Joe

    Tunny

If terry got injured, Jose isn’t stupid enough to start the season with 2 CBs. Jose would of won the league with this arsenal squad 1) because he wouldn’t of started the league with 2 cbs only 2) wouldn’t have tarted the season with arteta and flam as DMs 3) doesn’t make same stupid mistakes wenger makes year after year

  53. mysticleaves

This goal aside, I always have wondered why Costa made the team of the year ahead of Aguero. Atleast he was top scoring in the league by 2

  54. Dimitri

Bobby, sounds like they won’t have sex with you either.

I suggest you discuss these mother issues with a trained professional. There’s not much I can do for you.

  55. Dimitri

And fuck off Jose would have won the league with this squad. Take away a hundred million per season every year and see how he’d do.

  56. Danish Gooner

Abramovich have spent 2 billion Pounds on Chelsea whereas 1 billion is still owed ,Financial fair play my ass.If he ever wanted that debt serviced that shite Club would be bankrupt in an instance.

  57. Redtruth

What did Mourinho exactly do with Porto who have won the league about 25 times out of the last 30 years

Mourinho did a Di Matteo when he won two Champions leagues

  58. mysticleaves

Joe take a chill pill and then go over your 16:10 post again. Its full of inconsistencies

  59. bennydevito

    Redtruth,

Me trolling you? Classic. I’m never abusive to you, have merely tried to engage a bit of sense out of you.

Won’t bother in future, not that you’ll be bothered of course.

  60. Joe

    Keyser

Not a hope. Wenger couldn’t win the treble when he had the best team in Europe. The invincibles. He never won back yo back titles.

    Never won the CL

He would not have won the title with Chelsea this season. Wenger doesn’t have the winning mentality.

  61. Keyser

Chelseas squad that year was worth about 5 times the Invincibles, their wagebill was double.

Imagine just adding one Ronaldinho to the Invincibles.

Fuck you’d be smelling the Quadruple.

  62. Rosicky@Arsenal

    Mysticleaves

Even a blind man can see Aguero is currently the best striker in the Epl but the biased media labels chelsea players ahead of city.

    Clear evidence of media bias.

  63. london gunner

Not really sure why everyone is acting so butt hurt about Chelsea deservedly winning the title.

At the end of the day a team with a better manager and players won the Pl Shocker that! 😉

Lets be honest we can bitch and moan about Abramovich all we like, but if the billionaires who owned arsenal coughed up hundreds of millions on WC or very good player players and their wages I think soon enough we would change our tune.

I hate Chelsea, but all the same I have to say well done. They stayed strong and didn’t cave into the pressure like how we and Liverpool did last season.

  64. karim

    Joe
I can understand you’re fed up with Wenger but, as TYAG said last week, I would keep him everyday if that kept Mourinho out of our club.

  65. Joe

You all sound like a bunch of sore losers.

Better team with a better manager and better tactics won the league

    Deservedly and cake walked it

  66. london gunner

Lacazette (akpom out on loan think of shifting Welbeck season after next and sell Walcott over this summer)
Reus or Coutinho (for left AM)
Gundogan(rotate with ramsey and the COQ send JW on loan)
    Lloris (buy out clause)

  67. karim

    London

It’s painful because of the cynical/efficient way they play football.
When was the last time you watched Chelsea play and thought they were a great team ?

1stly: Arsenal started the season with 3 CBs, Mert, Kos and Chambers same as Chelsea in Terry, Cahill and Zouma

2ndly; you say jose would win the league with our squad if he changes arteta/flamini and everyother names you called there. Then that wouldn’t be our squad.

Fact is, Jose wouldn’t have won the league with our squad

  69. Keyser

“They stayed strong and didn’t cave into the pressure like how we and Liverpool did last season.”

Lol and why didn’t they ? Because they have a deeper squad, more resources, better players, 30 players on loan, Uefa European Cup youth team.

Yet they lost to 10 man PSG and Bradford at home.

If there’s no pressure on them to even make the most of what they have, what chance do we have ?

  70. Joe

Chamvers was a RB and 19

Jose wouldn’t of been stupid enough to start the season with arteta abs flam.

    That’s the point

  71. vicky

Makes me feel sick watching Chelsea lift the EPL trophy under despicable Mourinho. But I guess Wenger is not bothered enough. Hel will take joy in our “improved” performance this season and is probably under the impression this squad will continue their form throughout next season and win him the trophy.

  72. tunnygriffboy

Mourinho is an excellent strategic organiser. At any sniff of danger he reverts to his default position of back four and two holding mids. He then has the stardust of 4 thirty million pound players ahead of them to produce a bit of magic to score a goal

I’m not sure he’s a great developer of individual talent, also his system can be restrictive on players. How much more would we see of Hazrd and how much more could he develop if given much more freedom to express himself ?

  73. Rosicky@Arsenal

    London gunner

There is nothing against chelsea. Chelsea won the league with Ancelotti playing remarkable entertaining football scored 100+ goals and everyone enjoyed watching beautiful football.

Mourinhos brand of football brought sucess to chelsea at the cost of boring defensive stuff same as he demonstrated in his previous stint and continued at spain and ultimately faced the axe twice for his brand of football.

I wonder how much Roman will wait to show Mourinhio the door after the bridge crowd start to agitate on watching dull stuff each week.

It’s got nothing to do with that, he wouldn’t be at Arsenal to begin with.

Mourinho’s moaning about FFP and Citeh’s spending now.

He wouldn’t be in the country, let alone at Arsenal if he saw what he had to work with.

At the start to say mid season they were playing brilliant attacking football.

Tearing teams to shreds on the counter some of the exchanges between Cesc, Costa and Hazard were mouth watering.

At the business end of the season once they were leading the pack they shut up shop and reverted to efficient “boring football”

To me they are like a great long distance runner who learns to pace themselves to win the race.

Personally I have no issue with it. Also they have scored more goals than us and at times played much more attractive football.

But then again I am fond of teams like atletico who incorporate similar strategies.

That year Porto won the champions league was very fortuitous with some very jammy decisions, not to mention all the big European teams had right fuck ups that year. I mean they played Monacco in the final ffs. Not to take anything away from the acheivement, but Mourinho did outspend all the other Portuguese counterparts and players like Deco, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, Costinha and Maniches were a quality lot that meshed well.

The real test is seeing if Mourinho can get fourth with a team boasting the likes of Almunia, Senderos, Squillaci, Bendtner, Denilson etc

Exactly, Hazard never replicated the numerous magical moments he had with Lille.
Hope he doesn’t rot there forever, can still remember him saying it will be either Real or Arsenal….

Chambers plays at CB and is 19 yes. Maybe Comas physique deceives u that he’s more than 19?

Fact is chelsea used 6 defenders this season, we have even used 7!

As for flamini and Arteta, Chelsea with Jose intact started last season with Mikel and Ramires as CDM. Correct me if am wrong

  79. Joe

Wenger and his “Jose disrespect comments” a week after wenger made his 1-0 “always” commevrs.

The man needs to shut up and win the league or CL

That would shut Jose up. Otherwise he sounds like a whinger

All this shows is you don’t understand either team.

Atletico had Courtois on loan last year, Mourinho’s knocked out by the team that has the better of his two keepers.

He buys Luis, Costa and brings back Courtois, I’m sure Simeone’s just as gracious about Chelsea

Joe: When they smashed us 6-0

And that was last season, so admittedly by you there haven’t been great this season!

    London
    Why shut the shop ?
What is he afraid of ?
Atletico don’t have superstars, they created them, they have every right to play the way they do.

Mourinho is not a great manager. Give any third rate defensive manager the squad Jose has had to work with and he would produce the same results. The British media’s love for loudmouth arseholes has created an aura about an average manager.

“Fact is, Jose wouldn’t have won the league with our squad.”

I’m no admirer of Mourinho, but fact is he would never have gone into a season with our squad.

Would Mourinho ever have gone with Arteta and Flamini? No. He would have signed two athletic tacklers at the very least. Would he have relied upon Giroud? No. He would’ve demanded someone more mobile, more athletic. Sanogo or Welbeck? Never. Cazorla or Ramsey as the starting CM? No. Not athletic enough, not physical enough. I’m not even convinced he would’ve signed Ozil — despite his praise of him — as Ozil has many of the same limitations as Mata.

Now one can argue that such changes would not necessarily result in the title, but please don’t tell me he couldn’t have worked within Wenger’s budget over the past two seasons. Wenger has spent some 90m net, and said spend could easily be reconfigured so as to fit Mourinho’s priorities over Wenger’s.

1 He shuts up shop because as he is leading the table it gives him the safest way to win the title. If liverpool had just shut up shop against Chelsea they would have been champions instead they pushed for a goal and Gerrard slips.

2 What is he afraid off? Not winning the title maybe. Its like going to Mayweather why do you fight such a defensive tactical game? what are you afraid of? Well getting knocked out maybe lol

3 Don’t really understand what you are going on about. So Atletico can play defensive football because they develop players, but Mourinho can’t because he doesn;t HUH? Whats the logic there?
