Would you give Jack a bumper pay rise?

Happy good morning to you all!

Guess what, Diaby is a doubt for tomorrow… because of another injury.

Bloody hell. He really is blessed by having a manager like Arsene who is likely to keep him on. It’s really charity stuff, which is sweet, and it makes me feel all warm inside to know at £3.5m a year footballer is being given more money for nothing, but it does waste a squad number.

I think another notable absentee is Arteta. Not due back until the 17th of May. Should he be signing a new deal? Maybe. If he has coaching in mind. Those La Masia boys do pretty well as managers. Could be one of the future.

In other news, we’ve sorted a deal with Chile so they won’t pinch our superstar so he misses the world cup final. I still find it amazing that clubs don’t have power to overrule FIFA on stuff like this. It’s where the money is. Apparently the Champions League Final could cause even more problems with international managers well within their rights to keep people from playing in it to join up with their international camps.

Arsenal don’t feel they’ll have to give Jack W £150k p/w this summer. Would love to hear that conversation.

‘We want £150k a week for Jack?’

‘Why?’

‘Cause he’s English and stuff’

… because that’s the only way the conversation can go? He’s nowhere near a £150k a week player. We should under no circumstances cave to pressure unless it’s related to exceptional performance. He’s injured too often, he’s not doing it on the pitch and he earns a tonne of cash already!.

I won’t bloody have it. No way.

What else is going on?

Not a lot.

Enjoy your day today and stop putting meeting notes in people’s diaries for Monday. It’s a no work day!

Lets say i was a billionaire i know which players i wouldn’t allow near the squad and they would be Giroud, Welbeck, Ramsey, Gibbs, Ox, Wilshere, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Walcott, Arteta, Flamini, Sanogo and obviously Wenger himself would exit the door.

london gunner: But they can strangle off competition till it dies or never really gains life.
They can leverage/dominate the market and government institutions to hinder it.

In the short term no doubt, but the truth, as they say, “will always out”

london gunner: It’s this share holder quartely mindset that has actually lead to many calamitous mistakes in the global market and actually damaged/slowed down the rate of progress in significant areas by significant levels.

And driven it forward in many more areas. Private ventures are consistently better than public ones. Just look at the scientific rise in capitalist countries compared to socialist / communist ones

    Redtroll –
Exactly, it’s easy to name players you don’t want… because your a troll.

Go ahead name eleven players, that currently play anywhere on the world.

  4. MidwestGun

    Redtroll
Haha. Pedantic answer to deflect… my tablet predictive text genius.
Still waiting 11 players…. it’s not that hard. It’s simple to troll other people. Go ahead put yourself out there.

  5. Arsene's Nurse

Come on you Brummies! Really want to see Man Utd lose today. I think I could even stomach the spuds getting forth if Manure and the Bindippers missed out on the 4th place trophy.

  6. Nasri's Mouth

    @arsene’s nurse

ManU seem to be missing a cutting edge, but I bet home advantage and the constant pressure result in a goal for them. 🙁

  7. MidwestGun

    Redtroll –
Hahaha because you can’t name any players you haven’t trashed. Because
they don’t exist. Anyhow, as always my conversations with you always leave me feeling dumber so at least your consistent.

  8. Redtruth

I’d keep Ospina, Debuchy, Monreal, Bellerin, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ozil, Sanchez and Rosicky and bomb out Szczesny, Mert, Koscielny, Paulista, Arteta, Flamini, Giroud, Sanogo and all the British and loan players.

  9. tunnygriffboy

We are going to have a seriously difficult game against Villa in the fa cup final. We will have to be at our best. Benteke is the in foem CF in the league ( 🙂 smiley face for you Bamford )

As comparison of Coutinho and Ozil you get a sad face.

  10. MidwestGun

Whooaaaa……. Progress but that only leaves 9 players and 2 play the same position. And one is Rosicky who can’t play every match. So who you got for the other 4?

  11. SpanishDave

This Diaby thing is beyond a joke, our ceo should step in and stop it.
It just shows how flushed we are with cash as we just flitter it away .
We have not progressed this year, just the same as last year. Wenger makes it up.

  12. MidwestGun

    Tunny –
Haha not really, don’t take anything too seriously. I’m sitting on my deck, the sun shining, Man. U is losing the birds are singing.

    Ggirl –
    Couldn’t agree more. 😀

  13. tunnygriffboy

    Gg

Avoiding that 4th place is v good. Those games getting harder.

Good to hear from you again

    Mid

You and your bloody weather you lucky b.ugger 🙂

Man u lose looooooool. If lpool and spuds hadn’t faltered man u woild be in trouble. Fellaini cf and Dimaria booed after coming on as a sub according to radio loooooool. Love it. We should defend deep and counter them off the park. We one point ahead with three games in hand. Plus a rvp penalty mis ha ha ha ha

  14. Rustygunner

2nd guaranteed? We just need to bear them again, even if it means no change to the table. But we need to keep our own focus. Sweeeet!

  15. Goonergirl

    Tunny

Yeah that rvp penalty miss was just great Lol.

    Mid

Yeah I definitely would love for us to beat them again. He’ll get over it lol.

  16. Nasri's Mouth

    2013/14 35 games played 60 points

    £127m spent

    2014/15 35 games played 65 points

    That’s approximately £25m a point,

or another £375m more needed to catch Chelsea…

    (I know it’s not a direct correlation etc.etc.)

  17. Cesc Appeal

United are going to spend heavily again this summer I think, their side will look almost unrecognisable from two seasons ago by August I would bet.

Really don’t rate Van Gaal at all. Has a lot of Wenger characteristics about him, but a more negative version.

  18. karim

    Cesc
I like Kurzawa a lot, he s young, pacy, very good with the ball, can cross well with his left foot.
He’s decent at the back too, don’t worry.
Earned his 1st international cap this season and was rather good.
What did you think when we played them ?

  19. Cesc Appeal

    Karim

Thanks mate, you’re the go to guy for Ligue 1 talent 😉

I liked him, I thought he was quite physically imposing for a LB, seems a big lad for a LB. As you say I thought he was fast, quite aggressive as well.

But it was difficult to judge, the first game was a freak game because we were dreadful, the second was attack vs defence really, so again difficult to gauge him.

I would like to see a player like that come in, get rid of Gibbs to a mid-table side or something, Monreal and then a talent like Kurzawa who you know will be chomping at the bit to take that starting place.

I said in the summer that LB was a question for me, Monreal has done excellently, Gibbs is getting worse. So we need to sort that LB position I think.

“And driven it forward in many more areas. Private ventures are consistently better than public ones. Just look at the scientific rise in capitalist countries compared to socialist / communist ones”

I wouldn’t necessarily disagree, but what I think is damaging is the attitude that Capitalism rocks! Its the best so lets give it complete free reign because the market knows best right. (I absolutely hate that statement)

What is the best is a mixture or a balance if you will between private and public enterprise with the public/governmental sector well and truly holding the reigns (this supposes that the government is democratically elected) regulated capitalism is best because it uses Capitalism as a tool to benefit the most people rather than what we have or increasingly moving towards aka being a slave to a faux regulated market which leads to prioritising the agenda of the elite before the majority.

I think the best bet is to go back to Keynesian economics sure it isn’t perfect but its a far fairer deal than what we have in place now.

  21. karim

    Cesc
I know Sal rates him too.
It’s so frustrating, as we all know a few radical choices would make us title-contenders.
It’s all down to you-know-who though.

  22. MidwestGun

    Sukky –
Haha. …. he’s lacking a bit of quality and trolling with the handbrake on, too.

    Karim –
Bulls vs LeBron Monday night, and I just ordered Mayweather/Pacman fight. Along with our match on Monday, excellent sports weekend. Ohhh and I’m teeing it up tomorrow. Gonna get my Tiger Woods on. Most likely the bad Tiger Woods where I hit some trees and shank my chips. Lol.

  23. Redtruth

No one can be more negative than Wenger.
I couldn’t imagine Van Gaal playing with six defenders when holding on to a slender lead like Wenger does.

  24. karim

    Middy
Yeah, heard about the Bucks demolition last night, rather impressive.
Are Chicago favourites now that Love is injured ?
    Exciting series !
Expecting a nail-biting game 7 at the Clippers’ tonite, hope Spurs finally make it.
As for the big fight, is it true they’re charging 90 bucks ?
    Only in America man…
Rooting for Manny but expecting Mayweather to win it like anybody else, I guess

  25. Dream10

    karim

Do you see Kurzawa as defensively solid? He is taller than the average fullback

Jordan Amavi has impressive defensive stats. Seems to be competitive as well. Do you rate him?

  26. karim

    Dream
He’s more famous for his offensive contribution but I’ve never seen him make a howler or something and remember Monaco has 18 clean sheets so far…
So I would be rather confident with him.

As for Amavi, I know he plays for Nice but that’s about all I’ve got, sorry.

  27. Cesc Appeal

    Karim

    Very true.

As you say, it’s not just additions we need, it’s the radical choices, Gibbs, Wilshere, Walcott, could sale and subsequent investment in better quality take us to the next level?

Big decisions, but ones that need to be taken I think.

Whether they will is an entirely different matter.

  28. MidwestGun

    Karim –
Yep… $100 but I’m splitting it between 5 peeps, so $20 not bad. Heard Mayweather will make like $180 mil from ppv and Pacman $100 mil.

Excited about Bulls for once, not the favorites. 5 point underdogs in first game, anyhow.

  29. Redtruth

I have had enough of second, i remember Arsenal coming second 3 times in a row behind UTD so second is loser territory only first is what really matters.

You remember cuming second three times in a row!

I suggest that may have been a few years back 🙂

  32. Redtruth

Happy days, Arsenal are now challenging to see who finishes runner up.

The league is a joke, Chelsea truly are the best of a bad bunch.

Maybe the Premier league should rename the Trophy ‘The Best of a Bad Bunch Trophy’

  33. Marko

Lacazette scored his 27th league goal today. Absolutely brilliant. Surely someone will go in big this summer for him

  34. daz

Utd are the perfect example of buying big doesn’t guarantee a thing you’ve got Rooney rvp demaria mata falcao in the squad and in the last three games zero goals shocking absolute dog shit

  35. alex cutter

    ” I just ordered Mayweather/Pacman fight. ”

How many times would Mayweather have to be arrested for beating women — including in front of their children — before you’d not be comfortable giving him your money?

    Eight times?

    ————————————————-
Absolutely, however, they know they must finish in the CL places this year. The money for getting in is huge and Utd can afford the investment because they have such an enormous commercial income.

A top 4 finish is the minimum for such a big club. They can afford to spunk the money away to counteract the “Fergie Effect” and keep the momentum going.

It’s one of the reasons why I’d love to see them finish outside the top 4. Makes them much weaker and they have to spend even more money chasing the previous success.

  37. MidwestGun

    Eagle –
Sorry, surfing the interweb. I have Mayweather in a decision.

    Cutter –
No offense but if I could only give my money to people or companies that weren’t pricks or morally corrupt. I wouldn’t be able to buy anything.

  38. MidwestGun

    Eagle –
Not yet… I’m torn. Just heard Freddy Roach say he has trained Pacman to win a decision. Hard to bet against him. But ya i probably will throw down a small wager.

  39. roaaary

Kurzawa is a great call. Id love it if we went for him. I watched him last year when monaco had haaames and falcao and thought kurzawa was always the best player on the pitch.

He seems to take the ball forward really strongly and never allowed crosses in.

I just dont think wenger sees a need to upgrade lb

  40. roaaary

For me kondogbia is the big signing id like this summer. Id be happy with just him if thats what it took.

By far the best cm ive seen this year against us

  41. Cesc Appeal

    roaary

So go in and rob Monaco or Kurzawa and Kondogbia then?

Would like to get an update from Karim as well on Fekir when he’s next on here.

We could go proper French this summer and get Kurzawa, Kondogbia, Fekir and Lacazette. Rob that lot of Lloris as well 😉 lovely stuff.

  42. Marko

Fully expect us to move for someone like Fekir/Quintero/Max Meyer/Calanoglu when Santi either hangs up his boots or heads back to Spain

“… it’s not just additions we need, it’s the radical choices, Gibbs, Wilshere, Walcott, could sale and subsequent investment in better quality take us to the next level?”

That’s the sort of thinking to win titles. Do Ivan, Wenger et al have it? Doubt it.

If Wenger is as good as he alludes to, Arsenal should be able to pick up Lacazette from Ligue 1, even if he’d be 75% as good in the PL ie still score 20+ goals.

Sanchez is not quite a striker though he scores goals. He and Giroud have 14 each. If we add a 20+ striker, upgrade the MF and keep our defence we are in business.

  46. Thank you and goodnight

    @N’gambo

Ha ha ha ha. Very funny. Off to work and that comment cheered me up.

  47. useroz

Wenger quoted as saying “Arsene Wenger: Jack Wilshere recovery ahead of schedule…” snd the scary part was Wenger suggested it’d be a two year journey.

That’s serious BS territory like recent Ivan speak… So, let’s be proud of Wilshere and his recovery journey to form??

No wonder Diaby is well on track in his recovery, and up for another contract extension.

    Let’s save some fxxking money.

If City offers anywhere close to 30m for Wilshere, simply sell. Enough of a waiting club.

  48. moray

useroz,we should really have a central midfield clear out this year, but if we do it will probably mean Wilshire staying. If Wenger was sensible he would move on Diary, Flamini, Arteta and Wilshire. Money could then be diverted to 2 w/c players without breaking sweat. However, I think this is too much change in one go for the manager: that’s 3/4 of our central area right there.

  49. Wallace

Jose Mourinho has revealed winning the Premier League this season will be extra special for him because of the financial constraints Chelsea have operated under.Mourinho admits Financial Fair Play has posed a challenge for Chelsea but is proud of the way the club have adapted and he paid tribute to his players’ focus.

“I want this one a lot and I think in the moment we clinch the title I will be much more happy for them (the players) than for myself,” Mourinho said.

“I see the players with hunger and responsibility to go to every game, every one. Stoke City at home, QPR, Man United and Arsenal.

“Now it’s a great feeling because it’s my club, because of the league, because of the difference in the league.

“We are not any more the rich club. We are a top club, a club that lives with the work that everyone does.”

    – Sky Sports

fuck off, Mourinho! like Pellegrini said, they might play with the mentality of a mid-table side, but they can still realistically sign the Pogba’s of this world if they’re of a mind to.

  50. Nasri's Mouth

Mourinho: “We are not any more the rich club. We are a top club, a club that lives with the work that everyone does.”

How many takes did they have to do of that before they got one where he didn’t burst out laughing in the middle

  51. tunnygriffboy

    NM/Wallace

Thing is the press lap it up and his minions and gullible people believe it. Why don’t the press mention the fact that the Russian has spent a billion pounds in 10 years. They may have to be a little more circumspect from now but they have a brilliant base to build on. People now say that we can spend as much as them butfail to mention they are many years ahead of us

We have 2 players over £20 million. They have been spend that money for years. Take their team v us last week. Matic £25 million, Ram

  52. tunnygriffboy

**** Ramires £18 million, Fabregas £30 million, Willian £ 30 million, Hazard £ 30 million, they had £ 30 million Cuadrado on the bench and £ 30 million Costa injured.

They are also able to make mistakes like Schurle and not worry about it. Mourinho likes to say those things to deflect the fact he has the best, most experienced squad in the PL. When he wants another £ 30 million poud player the money will be there. He doesn’t tend to develop young players at all. Ready made superstars to fit into his system.

  53. tunnygriffboy

Just seen John Moss on Motd, the fa cup ref. Goodness, he looks 104 years old and is fatter than me. Made a howler of a decision yesterday. Think they’ve given him the final for good service before they put him out to pasture. Clattenburg or Oliver should have it imo.

  54. tunnygriffboy

Sunday Supplement on sky up Mourinho’s backside again and proceed as usual to have a dig at our club. Would love it if we won the league next season to make them angry. They seriously don’t like us.

I know the Europa league is a long hard competition and involves a lot of travelling but why do our clubs and so called journo’s denigrate it ? The Spanish,Ialian and German teams all take it seriously. Surely if clubs have ambitions of playing CL this is great experience for them

There is also the sweetner of the winner getting a CL spot. Also the fact that sooner or later our teams poor form in European football will result in our co efficient going down and we may lose our fourth CL place.
