Happy good morning to you!
I’m busy. Work. Stuff. I’ll be in St.Louis tomorrow, then New York at the weekend. I’m really worried people on Twitter will start calling me a fake fan because I’m calling football > soccer just to blend in. Hopefully my half and half scarf will ease the pressure.
Anyway, enough about me. What about football?
Hey, ever have a really messed up dejavu type moment. You know, you’re all like… imagine having a crisis in the holding role, then you find an ‘internal solution’, then that internal solution starts playing well, then you find out they have 6 months to go on their deal, then Milan come in and take that player away.
So the story is Coquelin has 6 months to go, he can talk to foreign clubs now. Can you imagine?
Likely that won’t happen, but it’s interesting that, even in football, history has a way of threatening to repeat itself. I’d prefer it if we just gave everyone a really well paid long term contract. That way we’d be safe. All the time. I like being safe.
So what else is going on? I read an really amusing article from the Telegraph this morning. It should basically have said, ‘we’ve taken all Metro’s transfer stories so we can drive cheap traffic’.
So I didn’t get much from that…
We’re probably not going hard for players now. We’ve won a big game. Wenger has cracked it. We don’t need players.
This is a bad way of thinking. It’s knee jerk calmness. One result always changes opinion. Thing is, once that window closes, that’s it until the end of the season. It’s great to have players back in the frame, but look, there are still big gaps. We have very limited options at the back. We still need some support in midfield. The squad didn’t just suddenly become great.
But hey, even I’m calm about it now… I am a victim of knee jerk calmness. Imagine that. Relaxed like a well sexed stud pig.
Ozil is back. He’s bulked. But does he have a place? Santi is owning that number ten role. We have very talented wide players who have staked a claim. Good position to be in. We can rotate him in when we play weaker teams. Santi needs rest. He’s been played and played. We need him fresh for the run in.
Right, super small post today because I am literally doing the best I can to connect consumers and brands in a credible and immersive way with story telling at the heart.
