Superstar Gooner DJ @OttoKnows tells me his his dream 5 a-side team would be

by .

A few weeks ago, someone said to me in a bar, ‘hey Pete, you need more world famous DJs on your blog, why don’t you sort it’… so I thought, what if I could find a DJ who was both big in game and an Arsenal fan. So then I called up Otto Knows and asked him to answer a few questions for me.

Here’s how it went.

Hi Otto, where in the world are you today?

Right now I’m in a taxi on my way to the airport for a tour in Asia.

You’re a pretty big deal in the dance music world… but more importantly you’re a Swedish Gooner. What was it that first attracted you to Arsenal?

Well I grew up under their heyday, sort of, so they were the team to watch. I also love the way they play football, the mentality of the team and the club culture.

Do you get to go to a lot of football matches? What was your first ever game?

I can’t remember the first game I was at but I went to Liverpool when I played Creamfields in Daresbury this August, to see Everton-Arsenal. The game ended 2-2 but it was cool.

What is the best part about being a DJ?

Best part for me is traveling and meeting lots of happy people, who come to the shows to have a great time. Plus sometimes you’re lucky enough to go to places where there’s opportunity to go to a football game.

Did you ever want to be a footballer, or has music always been the dream?

Yeah, but I was never close to becoming one… I have enough self-awareness to realize I’m not good enough for that. I still play with friends in my spare time though. I’m very happy for my friends who’ve come a long way.

Tell me about what your plans are over the next few months, are you touring? Do you have any new releases coming up?

I’ve been spending the last months touring in Europe, Mexico and South America. The rest of the time I’ve been in the studio making music. That’s the plan for the coming months as well. I’m going to Brazil for New Years and next year I’ll be releasing new music, which I’m looking forward for everyone to hear.

Which DJ’s would you have in your 5 aside football team?

As defense I’d have Sebastian Ingrosso so there’s someone I trust. Alesso I’d have on the midfield because we’re connected and work well together. Someone who always delivers is Axwell so he’d definitely be part of the team. As a young and promising star I’d recruit Martin Garrix. Finally, Avicii cause you need a superstar and it would probably help with merch sales…

Any musical tips for us, which artists should we be looking out for over the next few months?

My tip is up-and-coming producer/ DJ from Finland, called Jesse Kiis. I really believe in him and like his music a lot. He was also just signed to my management Refune Music. Releases coming soon!

GoonerGirl Pedro is going on three day bender tomorrow after we lose, once again, and he’s getting his posts for weekend in early.

  2. Gooner1978

So what’s the point of that then?? I thought this was an arsenal blog, not a DJ who has nothing to say blog? Do you feel big now? You know a DJ? Your so big!! Mega mega big!!

  3. N5

@Gooner1978, fair enough you don’ t agree with interviewing this guy, but why the insults? do you feel big now, because you acted hard online! do you?

  4. Highbury Daze

Atletico Madrid won the title last season, wonderful achievement, how did this happen against two of the biggest clubs in the world

Anyway Chelsea bombed out last season, what do they do, Bring back their keeper from Atletico, add their striker Costa, add a midfield general Fabregas and they will walk the title this year, they addressed what was needed

We on the other hand sold two CD refused to replace them, used the same old tired Arteta and Flamini in the middle of the park, added Welbeck and Sanchez to an already, Giroud, Podolski, Walcott, Sanogo, Campbell

And while Sanchez is an extraordinary player, our best by a country mile, he was not what was needed, not at the expense of a CDM and a decent CD

The imbalance of this squad is astounding, someone at AFC needs a kick in the balls

  5. Highbury Daze

So that’s 3 great players from a title winning side, and our best player in the last 10 years
Take a bow Chelsea, are you watching Arsenal Football Club

  6. Highbury Daze

In any corporation everyone has a particular job, specialists in all areas, each handling their respective duties, you don’t see someone from legal trying to sign a player, just as someone from sales has no input into any litigation that might be going on

And why have a board of directors that are neutered by the one they can all do without, the manager

In the corporation that is AFC, the manager, the one that should be about 10 places down on the ladder is running the corporation

The lunatic is running the asylum, it’s not just Wenger that has to be moved on, the owner and half the board really need to go, they are party to stifling what AFC COULD AND SHOULD BE

  7. Highbury Daze

I was just making the point N5 that they signed 3 players, well 2, Courtois was already theirs, they added Costa, can’t think of the LB name but he had a cracking WC, and of course our best Cesc

  8. N5

Daze, it was a good point, I’m fully with you.

2301, I expect he might be, you can tell by the sniveling way in which he constructed his insult! that’s not how people insult on the Grove. If you’re not called a melt a mug or a cunt you’re in the wrong place 😀

  9. Cesc Appeal

Klopp has said he wants to manage in England and the journo’s of this country have shit themselves in a hurry to pump out storis it looks like

  10. Highbury Daze

Thanks for the input gooner 1978, very insightful, maybe he is a Arsebal loving dj, who knows, who really cares, just go with the flow son

  11. N5

Cesc when Sal mentioned that earlier I was thinking he might be flirting a little bit with us. He knows Wengers on his way out and its looking more and more likely that he’s going to lose Hummels this season which will be the nail in his BvB coffin.

  12. Gunner2301

I think it would be hard for Klopp to pull himself away from the BVB Fans and players, unless something goes drastically wrong there which would force him to consider his position. The passion he shares with the fans and the way they feed off him is infectious. Do you think he could get the Library rocking in the same way? He might be a tad disappointed with the atmosphere.

  13. Gunner2301

Totally agree about the imbalance, when does Arsene ever buy what we need? You could also say we will struggle to get the best out of Ozil as there aren’t the other quality players around him. Maybe that will change when Walcott comes back.

  14. Cesc Appeal

Maybe. But Wenger signed a 3 year deal a few months ago. I just cannot see any way Klopp comes in and he goes.

You heard his interview this week the guy is utterly out of touch with the real world, he sounds like an over privileged cabinet minister, you know when you read what they say and think “you daft prick, you haven’t got a clue.” He utterly contradicted himself from one sentence to the next and it’s clear his driven by egotistical goals – else he wouldn’t have been so keen to get back on TV asap.

Just don’t see it. We are well and truly lumbered with him. By then I think Klopp will be at either United or City…weirdly I can see both the BvB and Munich manager managing one of the Manchester clubs respectively in the next few years. We’ll be stuck with Wenger as DoF and a puppet manager in 2017.

Sadly I think it’s all a bit moot. No doubt there’d be fan excitement.

But we’re utterly stuck with Wenger and the crumbling internal structuring of HIS football club.

Strap yourself in for 3 more years AT LEAST of frustrating self induced failures, embarrassments, cringy interviews, injuries, 4th place and elite mediocrity.

Oh and of course being told by THOSE fans that next year is the year, we were unlucky, oil money, we should have more class than to criticise Wenger for obvious failures and most of the other sides in the league would trade with us.

  15. Highbury Daze

I did a study on transfers in, transfers out since 1996, the year Wenger arrived at this club, I am not knocking the early success he had with titles and cups added to the trophy cabinet, well done, hurrah, but we move on, if we didn’t George Graham might well still be managing us, anyway, up until last season when we signed Ozil, and spent 75 million quid this year on players taking our total net spend on transfers to around 116 million quid since 1996

Before that this club had spent JUST around 30 million quid on players in and out in 18 years, almost impossible you say, but it’s true, this is the reason Kroenke bought AFC, not because he loves the game, but of what Wenger could do in the transfer market

Chelsea in the same period have spent over 650 million, City around 550 million and United around 450 million

Remember this is transfers in transfers out, a cost to the club, even allowing for our crazy last two transfer windows where we spent over 100 million quid, pre Ozil, Everton, Newcastle, Fulham, and most other Premier clubs in England spent more on players than Arsenal, by a long way, even Aston Villa invested more

Because those clubs couldn’t buy for 500k and sell for 30 million, this is the secret to Wenger, Anelka, Overmars, Song Toure,Henry,Vieira, Cesc, RVP, and a lot more, bought cheaply and sold for huge profit, this is the reason he has lasted these last 10 years, that and beating Sours and Liverpool into 4th each year, is purely financial, the club enjoyed FINANCIAL SUCCESS, but the fans suffered and endured a hard 10 years

  16. Highbury Daze

Gunner 2301, yes imagine if Ozil had Vieira and Gilberto type around him, this guy is really wasted at AFC, shame really because I like him always have, 1st time I saw him play before he moved to Spain, he stood out at the WC and he cost a lousy 12 million quid, another Wenger let slip by at the time, he preferred to pay 42.5 million for him, well AFC did not Arsene personally because he would never pay that much for any player, even Messi, bad luck Arsene, we know you tried to sign all these world class players

  17. Thomas

    Highbury Daze November 21, 2014 22:08:32

I was just making the point N5 that they signed 3 players, well 2, Courtois was already theirs, they added Costa, can’t think of the LB name but he had a cracking WC, and of course our best Cesc

Filipe Luis never played in the WC. He didn’t make the squad.

  18. Highbury Daze

And this was started in 1996, so there can be no using the Emirates Stadium as an excuse for not spending and buying the players the club needed to compete, this was going on in the Highbury Days, this was always his MO, it’s in his DNA

I can recall being told, the stadium will not inhibit our transfer policy, there will be money available to buy the players we need to compete, well they were right, they didn’t lie, WE COMPETED FOR 4TH EVERY YEAR, fuck you Wenger and fuck the AFC board

  19. Highbury Daze

sorry mistake, I had a vision of him in his red white and blue Atletico shirt, playing in the La Liga, apologies

  20. Highbury Daze

Ozil is not suited to the physical EPL, he is ever so slight body wise, imagine playing under Mourinho with Ronaldo, Benzema, Di Maria, Alonso, Pepe, and Sergio Ramos as your team mates

Then visualise playing under Wenger with Sanogo, Artea, Flamini, Giroud, Monreal and Szczesny it’s fucking demoralising

  21. Gunner2301

I sensed the transfer dealings. And those cunts over at Untold will maintain to this day that were not a selling club the players all left because they were greedy. Lol

I remember Ade saying he was told he had to be sold because they had to make a profit but he didn’t want to leave. Personally I’m glad he did but the point is our best players have been systematically sold after being sold a pipe dream by Wenger about jam tomorrow.

Really Wenger should be working for PWC not Arsenal. He stopped being a manager a decade ago.

In a way Arsenal deserve the position they are in. And the fans will put up with this bollocks so they deserve the same.

  22. kwik fit

just back from a sham 69 gig and I’m starting to feel young again. ! 😉
Tomorrow Arsenal v the fucking wankers and then adam ant!
    Am I sain?

  23. Gunner2301

It’s strange Wenger will tell his players to express themselves and the one player he has that this should apply to he’s playing out of position. If he allowed Ozil that freedom he’d do a lot better. He can’t expect him to chase back and defend he’s a luxury player who doesn’t do that. If that’s not the kind of player we needed we shouldn’t have bought him. Like I said Arshavin MKII.

  24. Highbury Daze

As I stated, Anelka, Overmars, Petit,Vieira, these guys were sold pre Emirates, even Henry was sold, he played in Bergkamp’s testimonial, these sales were always there it is how Wenger works, ADE wanted to stay, he cost peanuts, when City bid 20 odd million quid of course he is going to be sold, Toure cost around 200,000 quid, sold for about 16 million to City, Song, cost 1 million, Wenger is not knocking back 15 million quid from Barca

The classic case is Cesc, and it was his decision to leave to Barca, but he was a free transfer, AFC had to pay 500,000 compensation for poaching a minor, the piece de resistance is Wenger sold him for 34 million quid a tidy profit to the same idiots who let him go

And the IRONY, Cesc wanted to come back home to AFC, Wenger was having none of this, he made his profit, he was not about to hand it back to Barca, well 24 million of it anyway, Wenger made up some bullshit about we were stocked in midfield, and we didn’t need Cesc

Yea, we got Flamini, Arteta, Rosicky,(who can’t get a game) Ramsey, we don’t need Ces

What a fucking moronic imbecile this Wenger is, what I say sell Arteta and Flamini and get Cesc back

deal done profit secured done and dusted, NEXT

  25. kwik fit

Gunner2031 lol they are at least 20 years older than me but and stoped at 10 . couldnt believe it cos i was only starting to funking give it a bit of wellie. But Tomorrow is all good Arsenal at 5.3 and adam ant at 8.3 and a bird sucking my dick at 11.3 easy baby 😉

  26. Highbury Daze

Henry cost 10 million is an AFC legend Wenger burned him out and still managed to make profit on his original purchase by selling him for 16 million, pure genius Arsene, Bought Vieira for 3.5 million another legend of our club, burned out by Wenger, sold to Inter 13.75 million, bravo Arsene, most managers when they sell their champions usually take a big hit on the original purchase price, devaluation after so many years playing in EPL, not Arsene, he makes profit on them, he is truly a fiscal genius

Why can’t our hero’s retire at AFC, answer, there is too much money to be made from selling them

Why isn’t Vieira working for our club instead of City, answer, Wenger can’t stand another point of view, these players have a much stronger will than the current squad, you see Vieira has a point of view, and Wenger cannot have that at AFC, he doesn’t want to be challenged, no dictator does

  27. Highbury Daze

Gunner, you are right, who pays 42.5 million quid for a genius playmaker, then insist he run up and down, back and forwards defending, fucking idiotic

  28. Highbury Daze

Just think of the players we had at this club since 2005, and this is off the top of my head, Flamini, Helb, Ade,RVP, Cesc, Nasri,Song,Sagna, Eduardo, Arshavin,Clichy, and this manager could not win a pot to piss in for 8 years with some very good players, above average players, shows the utter incompetence of this manager, and I use the term manager loosely, what a charlatan, you can fool all the people all the time, Arsene Wenger has been doing it since 2005, he is living proof, in modern football 18 years is way too long to have one manager change is needed, and it’s needed now, fuck the 3 years pay this stooge off and start fresh, with someone in the 40 something age, not a fucking burned out relic pensioner of 65 going on 66, fuck me he should have his slippers on watching the game at home, instead of him sitting on his bony arse arms folded uninterested watching from the dugout

  29. Irondawg

Who the fuck is this DJ

Can you interview Frimpong please. Then we can truly get to the bottom of matters in regards to Wenger

  30. gonsterous

It seems like a bit late to the party… Got to work overtime this week… 3 posts hai… Good Job Pedro… Surely this guy is DJ shazam right ?

  31. Wallace

great to have Giroud back in contention. watch us suddenly become far more competent at dealing with opposition corners & free kicks.

the Klopp interview is fascinating. if the timing’s right i reckon we’d be his prefered destination.

  32. tunnygriffboy

With you on Klopp. Hummels and Reus to leave. We are a really attractive opposition from playing staff, to transfer budget to salary. He’s also an admirer of the club and Wenger. Be a great project for him again

  33. Wallace

nah, i’d take Cabaye over Moutinho.

    today i’d love to see

    Bellerin – Mert – Chambers – Gibbs

    Arteta – Wilshere

    Ox – Sanchez – Rosicky

  34. tunnygriffboy

I’m sure one or two would follow him, he’s that sort of charismatic character. Thing is with Sanchez, Welbeck, Ox, Gnabry, Walcott we have forward players to implement his pressing game. Would need to replace Arteta and Flamini although I think that is happening anyway.

  35. tunnygriffboy

Yeah like that team. Was hoping Walcott on right and Ox on left. Hit them with pace. I fear Santi and Ramsey would be shoehorned in there

Been thinking about Ramsey’s dip in form. Last season all year Giroud played with his back to goal and our midfielders ran beyond him. This season our attack has changed completely with players running the channels and Alexis and Ox dribbling at the defence. Ramsey now has to start being a facilitator as opposed to his main one last year linking up with Giroud and scoring goals.

  36. gonsterous

I never thought this would happen but I have gone and bet against arsenal… Can’t see us winning… I’ll be supporting the team never the less but this is what it’s come to… I as a fan, have lost belief… How could a club go more wrong than to tarnish the belief of a fan… I’m hoping we get the win and the three points but if we do lose… At least there will be some consolation.. don’t hate me guys

  37. Wallace

yeah, he probably prefers Giroud up top. i think he’s been trying too hard to be decisive, but also sounds like he’s not been 100% fit. and as it’s his incredible stamina that marks him out as a player…i’m sure if you checked you’d find most of his important contributions come in the latter stages of agames when everyone else is tiring.

  38. Highbury Daze

I fancy a draw, a score draw, high scoring 3-3 or something like that because they are both impotent in the defending stakes, this Arsenal side fear United, they are shell shocked, but we have Sanchez, and if the chinless wonder plays 3 at the back they will get destroyed, same for our defence so I fancy lots of goals

  39. gonsterous

Actually I’ll just get the that’s-what-you-get-for-betting-against-your-heart feeling… Then ill do something stupid like bet for arsenal against barca in the round of 16 and then curse the world for going against me and end up living in the park scaring children and being a mean homeless man… ^^
    One can dream xD

  40. tunnygriffboy

I don’t think Man u will be as injury ravaged as is made out. They’ll only miss Blind from team that drew with Chelsea and they’ll have defendres back. It won’t be easy. Just media narrative that they’ll be weak with loads out. Sorry Rojo out as well but Smalling and Jones are back.

  41. Highbury Daze

Ok so we are playing our Nemesis, what do we have, Per as the only CD ,Monreal as a CD or will he play Chambers there, Per played all last season had no real break, went to WC had a week or two off, then asked to play every game since the start of the season, wonderful planning by a imbecilic manager, this guy couldn’t organise a fuck in a brothel
