Super quick post this week because I’m ripping it up in Berlin the first half of this week.

I missed the game at the weekend due to unforeseen circumstances. Bad times.
From what I’ve read, the difference was Alexis again. The little genius has found the pace of the Premier League and he’s smashing it. Wenger compared him to Suarez. Fair shout. He has all the unpredictability and class to become that important for us.
We need to manage him though. Becoming a favourite of the manager is sometimes as bad for your health as falling out with him. A player of that intensity needs to be managed and monitored. A fresh Sanchez is a devastating one. Combine him with some of our other pace men… Theo, Chambo and Ramsey… well, it’s all rather exciting. Especially when Ozil returns.
I watched the United game. Amazing how badly LVG is  getting it wrong. I thought he’d be a disaster, wasn’t sure he’d be a disaster this quickly. The only thing keeping him out of the press for making shoddy decisions seems to be his scary face. The press will man up soon and you’d imagine the big questions about his suitability will drop. Always fun to see them lose, especially when the ref did all he could to help them with some appalling decisions.
It’s a big month ahead, bit of Champions League this week in a must win then a return to our Premier League assault.
Have a great day!

Couple of lovely posts by chileans on the guardian blog post game Saturday. They reckon the club has now got 17million followers over night. They blast Barca for not using Alexis properly and treating really shabbily after he scored all those goals when Messi was injured last year, when Messi came back Barca struggled again.

They now feel he’s at a club where he can express himself. They said the manager trusts him, the players respect him and the fans adore him. They expect the other players to improve annd be dragged along to work as hard as him. They said his effort and workrate is infectious.

They also bit worried because the last 3 or 4 seasons every Christmas Alexis has gone back to his old town and gone around in a truck handing out presents to the less well off children. They reckon he’s quite a humble guy.

Haha, yea it was your hilarious post that brought on my response! In the same situation, I would probably cheer him on, throw a fiver on dear mom and tell her to clean herself up. #HOWDIDIGETTOTHISPOINTINMYLIFE?

  3. N5

Ha ha Clad, OK you’re the bigger fan!! You win the irrational love honour.

Jim. I know mate, it’s great isn’t it 76,000 hours and we’re done for good. In that time will A) Diaby get a game? B) Will Wenger have left? C) Will we have a CDM?

  4. Cesc Appeal

Yeah, I’d even do a rather convoluted deal, Campbell and £10 Million plus Wilshere on loan for Schneiderlin.

But I’d imagine Koeman would be loathed to pick apart his team right now, especially as if everyone is honest Schneiderlin is a better more crucial player than Wilshere.

As Leeds says, these issues should have been dealt with in the summer. Sokratis and Schneiderlin, highly doable for us, we (Wenger) chose not to. No other excuse (not just talking about those two players).

  5. shad

    Oh my! Alexis…Alexis…Alexis..Sex Is…Alex…is..Sexy.

Damn that lad…his cruise control on the half turn should be rated R and put in pornhub under “BDSM” because someone done got dominated bad!

  6. cladicus

No man, you are the leader of #TEAMOZIL, just letting you know I got your back. Also, I add D) How many times will Wenger ask “Why are you looking at me?”

  7. Jim Lahey

@N5 – I wouldn’t be so sure with any of those options! I have a horrible feelign that by the time Wenger goes to retire they will be able to put his brain into a robot so he can continue to manage us in perpetuum 🙁

  8. tunnygriffboy

Sure I read somewhere Schniederlin thought he was coming to us but Southampton blocked it. They’d be loathe to sell him at Christmas as him and Wanyama are the main reason their defensive stats are so good this season.

  9. Cesc Appeal

That was late, late in the day though and it was Spurs after him.

We could have got that deal done early no doubt. Especially given Wenger’s constant proximity to the French national team.

I said all summer I thought Wilshere would be played over and over this year. Unfortunately it’s proved that way.

  10. Cesc Appeal

You’re excused. He is ridiculous, I just hope that isn’t bred out of him and his obsession becomes possession a la Wenger.

  11. Cesc Appeal

    That’s why he moved though.

Age was setting in, got himself a league title. He certainly looks as if he’s losing it. Was no help to United at all this weekend.

  12. cladicus

Alexis’ control on the second goal was so quick and precise. Also, if someone would have been in the way of podolski’s effort off the post, I swear they would have had a cartoon hole through their chest. Dude has got some power.

  13. Dan Ahern

I find some Arsenal fans’ gloating about RvP to be pretty embarrassing. The guy moved and immediately won the league.

I’m not trying to call you out, le prof, but is life really a bitch for him? He achieved exactly what he wanted to.

  14. NYCgooner

N5 with the post of the day easily with this gem.

“Spot on Jim. I’m such an Ozil fanboy that he’d have to nut my mother for me to even question him and even then I’d probably say she deserved it.”

  15. Dan Ahern

cladicus — If the keeper was near that shot he would’ve broken his wrist, no doubt about it. I talk a lot of shit about Poldi but the guy has a weapon on him. Against weaker teams he’s a pretty good option.

  16. Cesc Appeal

I love Ozil, but you think in a set up like this:

    New CDM, Ramsey
    Walcott, Ozil, Sanchez

He sort of lets the side down in terms of being a bit of a fancy dan in a way. Really wish he’d add a bit of aggression and a bit of willingness to get stuck in. I know he’ll never been some leg crunching beast! But just see more of a willingness to fight, not get dispossessed so easily; look at Sanchez and think if I add what he does, eve a fraction of it to my game I’ll be pretty superb.

  17. Cesc Appeal

I hope Ozil sees this injury as an opportunity in a weird way.

Talk to Shad, get in that gym, drink those shakes and put on a bit of poundage. Bulk the arms, chest and shoulders a bit giving him the ability to “lean” on players.

Look at all the criticisms of him and the praise heaped on Sanchez and then come back with a new, hungry attitude.

So often he’s dispossessed and sort of looks around like “woe is me.” Instead I want him to look like “that is my fucking ball you c**t.”

  18. NYCgooner

No worries, I understand your feelings about Ozil completely.

I’ve been beating the schneiderlin drum for too long. Glad to know someone else rates him as highly as I do. He would slot right in next to Ramsey.

  19. Dan Ahern

I’m not sure you can transform Özil into an aggressive player. Why not just play to his considerable strengths? Put the power players behind him and let him do his thing.

  20. Cesc Appeal

He’s impressed me this season, got his head down and improved instead of sulking. We’re really suffering for Wenger not getting a CDM…and his dicking about with the winning formula.

That’s the easy way out. I just want to see him come back with some fight; eager to prove something.

I love Ozil, but he’s been a disappointment so far. I know Wenger has really hindered him but at the same time he has to take responsibility for some his appalling displays.

I do a Chelsea in January as they did last year, CB and CDM in January, solidify the team and add bite.

I still wouldn’t out it past Wenger to give Diaby a new deal though, really wouldn’t.

  21. kwik fit

I wonder has wenger got a decent price for putting coq out on loan . He’ll say that he wanted coq to get some action but we all know he’s just doing it for the money. 😉

  22. Wallace

“Recent history suggests Klopp’s talented team can still finish in the Champions League places – their speciality has been going on strong runs after Christmas. Such a resurgence might still be too late to sway Reus’s mind, however. Watzke admitted it would be hard to keep the winger at the club if Dortmund do not make the top four next season. Bayern, to Dortmund’s understandable disgust, have said they will make a decision in the winter whether they’ll trigger the 25-year-old’s release clause that becomes active in the summer.

It is by no means a given Reus himself is keen on the move south – he will surely wait for firm offers from Spain and England before making up his mind – but unlike Hummels, he is noticeably refrained from pledging his loyalty to the club and left Munich without comment.”

What is wengers obsession with having a thin squad… I hope he has already taken that thought of him winning the league with a thin, cheap (though it isn’t ) squad !!!

  27. tunnygriffboy

Seen a bloody selfie of Ozil doing weights in the gym recently. Hope he on a proper programme to incresed strength. He won’t have had much time post WC and pre season.

He must be looking at Sanchez, Welbeck, Ox and now Theo coming back and thinking mmmmmmmm !

  28. Cesc Appeal

The squad may be thin, but it certainly isn’t cheap.

Still a lot of work to do there making our depth and quality reflect our wage bill.

  29. Cesc Appeal

I hope so, as I say I think you look at the middle we could have and Ozil needs to toughen up. He’s playing the role Oscar does for Chelsea really because Fabregas is in the Ramsey slot. And Oscar charges about like a mad man and gets stuck right in.

Ozil is never going to be that player, but he needs to get better at holding onto the ball and riding challenges, also he does need to start commanding games more, he does passively set our tempo (you can tell in his absence) but he needs to stand up more. He’s a £42 Million playmaker and he needs to start controlling our game as such.

When he comes back, if everyone is fit there’s no more excuses. Walcott, Sanchez, Welbeck. There’s enough pace, energy and movement there to provide an shooting gallery of assists for him.

That is as long as Wenger allows that, and it’s not 4-1-4-1 back on the wing Ozil come sit on my lap Jack.

  30. tunnygriffboy

To be fair with those players he now has the ingredients people like me have been asking to be provided for him. It’s up to him. He will be refreshed after his time off and once he’s got his rustiness out of the way he has few excuses provided he plays 10 though he could also float about with Sanchez. I’m really hoping he shows what he can do #teamozil

Walcott on Sanchez : He hates recovery days he wants to play and get better. He hates losing even in head tennis. He wants to win. He has something this team hasn’t had before. He’s a pleasure to play with.

I hope all this rubs of on the team Certainly looks like the Ox has taken it on board, he was much better on Saturday.

  31. MidwestGun

If Ben Affleck’s mom is good enough for Ozil, she’s good enough for me. Pictures appreciated. 😀

    #team Ozil

    4 diamond 2
    _____Back 5
    ___New Cdm
    Ramsey, Sanchez

Would like to see this happen once before we lose one of these players and someone is injured.

    Also, good afternoon/evening y’all.

  32. kwik fit

Liking the Cabaye rumours. For me he’s the type of player Aeteta was a few years ago an would be a superb replacement for our captain. Wenger obviously likes him cos he tried to get him pre signing Ozil. I can see us
going for him in Jan. We would still require a DM IMHO.,

  33. goonpharm

James Milner? Yes please. The guy is an absolute warrior of a player. He plays for a club with superstars yet every manager that has been there finds a place for him. Whether that place be in midfield, on the wings or even at right back.

If he’s on a free this summer sign him up. Could easily replace Arteta in the CDM role with the engine he has.

  34. MidwestGun

If Jozy Altidore scores a goal today I win $100. Also, the world will end. Lol

Like to thank the referee and the Spuds for screwing me out of my Aston Villa bet which was set to pay off $250. 🙁

  35. gonsterous

Would love to have Schneiderlin at arsenal… Glad Wenger dint go for song.. at least he can take some respect for that no brainer transfer !!

  36. gonsterous

    Jahahah mid west

Southampton won me 50 buck..which was nice and arsenal and Chelsea combined to give me a 20… So the weekend tabs were paid xD

  37. goonpharm

So with Theo back and Poldi looking like he wants to run a bit we seem to be looking good numbers wise up top.

    Surely our best line up now has got to be something like;

    _____________Gobby Pole____________

Sub Arteta for Ramsey, Santi for Poldi and Chambers for Theo on the compulsory 60 minutes. Also a bit of a curveball but I’d like to see Rosicky start in the pivot instead of Arteta or Flamini. He has the energy, pace and is intelligent in his movement.

Would start Ramsey but feel with that double pivot it allows Sanchez to roam freely has he has absolutely no defensive responsibility. Ramsey’s late runs into the box and obsession with trying to play striker fills the space that Sanchez needs to occupy.

Until Ramsey curbs the wannabe hero act he needs to come of the bench. Do the simple things first and let the attackers take care of the goals.

Finally as mentioned already, can not wait for Ozil to return. With a front three of Theo_Welbz_Sanchez he should be locking get his lips.

  38. MidwestGun

    Gonsterous –
Congrats! I’m not sure I broke even this week. Should make it back in CL, tho. I was already counting my Villa money, tho. 😡

    So close. Freakin…… Kane.

  39. BacaryisGone

I’ll probably get slated for this, but why does it seem that when a transfer doesn’t work out well the manager gets ridiculed but he gets next to no credit when a guy like Alexis starts off on fire.

For me, the primary flaws of Arsene are 1) his tactical inflexibility 2) his inability to manage our constant injury problems often caused by overusing players and 3) his blind spot when it comes to improving key positions.

However, when it comes to purely identifying players to add to the squad, he’s mostly done an excellent job, this summer being a case in point.

Just calling for a little balance once in a while, that’s all. The one common denominator with our two big signings has been Arsene’s willingness to directly recruit the player face-to-face. Both Ozil and Sanchez have spoken about Arsene’s influence in them coming to us and I just hope we can get to a position where our leading players can all hit decent, if not top, form around the same time.

  40. BacaryisGone

How about this for a terrifyingly attacking team against the weaker sides (with all players fit)

    Chambers, Mert, Kozzer, Gibbs
    Wilshere, Ramsey
    Walcott, Ozil Sanchez
Welbeck (I refuse to use his Manc name)

  41. MidwestGun

You have a point but…. I remember pretty much everyone going crazy on here when Sanchez was signed this summer. A lot thought this would be the start of a huge summer. And then it really wasn’t.
    Debuchy replaced Sagna
Chambers to back up RB and Mert. Possibly cdm. Turns out he’s a starter.
Welbeck replaced Bendtner but only after Giroud was injured.
And Ospina is a crock. Basically, no use this year.
    And no cdm.

so I think the disappointment outweighs the credit sometimes when people can see what could have been. That and maybe too much built up past history. Anyhow, that’s my take on it.

  42. gonsterous

    Mid west…

I think I’ve finally figured out abt this betting thing… ^^ basically bet for the top teams… Barca let me down though… But definitely waiting for the CL

  43. WrightIsGod

You know I’ve been banging that schneiderlin drum right?

    That’s sounds horrible….and yet it’s true.

I said in the summer Id take him over carvalho and Khedira.

  44. MidwestGun

    Gonsterous –
Ya… haha. Sometimes, I go high risk, high reward tho. I usally try to have enough, what I consider lower risk bets, to cover my wagers tho. CL group stages is usually pretty easy to call so I can make some money back, hopefully.

  45. WrightIsGod

I think footballers worldwide need to man up and find a new goal celebration. The Henry knee slide is just overdone.

No more characters in the game. Wrighty was a legend for this.

  46. Cesc Appeal

I’ve also thought about extravagant celebrations with costumes, characters and plot lines – like a show within a show…and always a twist at the end.

  47. WrightIsGod

Gary Cahill claims Chelsea are not interested in doing an Arsenal and going the season unbeaten.

Such a Mourinho statement. He knows it won’t be done.

  48. WrightIsGod

    Yes Cesc

This is more like it. Like make a weekly sitcom. The whole team make up the cast and they act accordingly.

  49. Radio Raheem

Reading some of his comments I don’t think it’s a bad idea to arm Will Cornick with a pencil and let him lose on IS. Hopefully, one their bearded maniacs strikes a pose with his severed head within a day. Such a fate befits Cornick, but then I’ve been accused of being too soft.

I think recreating scenes from films would be great. Think Scarface, The Gladiator, Resevoir Dogs.

Personally, I’d love to see Welbeck, Mertesacker (he got big moves u’na) and Sanchez recreate the Men In Black dance sequence.

  53. Cesc Appeal

I say screw it, dim the lights and get our opera on, goal celebration lasts 4 hours – then let the fuckers complain about getting value for money out their tickets.

    You mean it???!!!

Alright, time to get myself a spittoon and impregnate my cousin 😉 🙂

I’ve often wondered about the Henry slide. I always felt that he made it popular but i wasn’t sure since i wasn’t watching a lot of other teams other than arsenal at the time. Can anybody remember another player who was doing it before him or made it as popular as he did?

Depends on what your into. Sunshine, Florida and Texas. Big music scene in Austin.
If your outdoorsy, Minnesota and Wisconsin for hunting and fishing.
Party scene. Vegas or New Orleans.
Tennessee has a bit of both, and Nashville music scene.
Just for scenery Colorado. Rocky mts. And brew pubs every where.

    Texas is famous for that.

In all fairness I can’t remember who did it first but I remember Henry was the master at the knee slide celebration. The length of slide and balance was unrivalled.

Absolute swag and tekkers personified that lad.

  62. WrightIsGod

I may sound obsessed with the knee slide at this point, and all celebrations in general, but I do remember Fabregas doing one and kneeling in stance position whilst still in motion and carrying his walk towards the crowd. Then he was mobbed from behind. Think it was a major champions league game.

    The memories.

Fuck the US. Best experiences I’ve had were all in South America and Central America, the Carribeans..

Dominican Republic is absolutely beautiful – beautiful women too. Costa Rica is an underrated treasure. Ecuador is a quiet, incredible experience.. Argentina and Brazil are wild.

Why the fuck do people travel to the U.S. Oh look… Yosemite… Yellowstone …. the Grand Canyon..

Granted, beautiful cities but once you’ve seen one US cities, you’ve seen them all.

Houston is awesome, the weather, economy and nightlife is great here. Maybe I’m a little biased because I just moved here from Kentucky but I lived in Kentucky for 5years and only good thing about there was the Horses.

  71. MidwestGun

    Uchmann –
Lol no offense. I like Houston. I have relatives in Corpus down the coast. I just meant in comparison to other Texas cities I’m familiar with. I agree Kentucky pretty boring. Weather is definately a big plus for Coastal Texas. How you been? Taking time off from Le Grove?

  72. Ozy

Alaska is beautiful. It’s a far fetched dream of mine to build a cabin up in the woods of Alaska and live like a madman with my faithful dogs.
Midwest, there are some beautiful cities in the US but when you’ve seen cities like Quito and Ponce, the differences escape me, almost.

I live in NYC. Decent Gooner population. There’s a street here with like 3 Arsenal bars so they always get lively when Arsenal plays… but it’s hard to drink so early in the morning. If anybody here ever comes to the big city, I would be more than happy to show you guys around. A spare couch to crash too.

But don’t come. I hate that most New Yorkers are defined by being from New York – they are otherwise very shallow and vapid. Not to mention how shitty the city is.

I don’t need one heartbeat, I need two
There’s an emptiness I need to fill
And only one emptiness will do

Only a woman can brighten up my day
Only a woman can touch me the right way
Only a woman is allowed to touch me there
All I ask is that you’re a woman

I like rain, I like ham, I like you
You’re around, you’re right here, so you’ll do
I’m wanna tell you how much I love your mind
    But it simply isn’t true

Only a woman can brighten up my day
Only a woman can touch me the right way
Only a woman is allowed to do what you’re doing right now
All I ask is that you’re a woman

And on Saturdays when I’ve been partyin’ hard
And it’s 4 in the morning, I’m on my fifth tab of e
That’s the only time I don’t even care if you are a woman

Right now only a woman can brighten up my day
Only a woman, do it just the right way
Only a woman should be doing that right now
I just want you to be a woman

Please just be a woman, just any old woman or a man

    Why is Pedro banning me?
I haven’t been able to post from my home internet protocol address. If this goes through, then its because I’m sending it from work.

    Censorship at its worst

If you get the chance CA give it a go, it’s about 1998 and both Matt and Trey are the main stars of it, the movie is hilarious too.

Dissenter, are you using a shared IP at home? or a VPN? do you use different email address on your work one to your home one? there a many reasons you might not show up, but you need to eliminate some things.

  84. Dissenter

It’s the same email address I use everywhere. When I post from a 4g mobile phone connection, it goes through.
i really do not know what is going on.
I’m thinking of hiring a small plane to carry a mobile banner with the inscription “Das Verbot der Dissenter” fly over Berlin for the next few days.

I’m liking the Cities/Countries talk lads, I’m fascinated by foreign culture and landscapes in general.

For next summer I’m thinking of heading abroad to work for a few months for a different experience, where would you’s recommend would be best to consider?

Doesn’t just have to be English-speaking.

Dissenter, Pedro doesn’t have a sophisticated IP block just a word block.

Have you tried posting a comment that just says test from your home?

If so it’s probable that you used one of the banned words.

If not, do you know if your IP is static or dynamic?

Looking forward to the enormous scrap in June for Reus for £20 Million…and of course we’ll be providing the comic relief with a £10 Million offer.

    Eagle –
Ireland. Lol. Well other than US I can’t recommend. But I’ve always wanted to go to Australia or Japan. If I had to recommend US city probably San Fran or Seattle for diversity and economy. Texas is it’s own culture. Lol but Miami if you want decent weather year round.

Also, try rebooting and clearing your browser cache. Sometimes if you accidentally use a banned word it’s harder to get a comment afterwards to not get bounced.
