Leicester… the detailed lowdown

by .

I was asked if I could write a pre-match post for Sunday’s game on Le Grove, and I thought “why the hell not?” I know about football. I can write. You see, Pedro and I have worked together for nearly three years now, so he knows exactly how capable I am when it comes to penning a riveting read. My thoughts immediately turned to the great and witty insights I could provide you all with after finally being recognised for my writing skills.

Then it dawned on me. I’m the only Leicester City fan he knows.

To be honest, it’s not that surprising. I’ve lived in London for five years now and I can’t recall coming across another Leicester supporter in all that time. Strangely, I’ve come across a hell of a lot of Coventry supporters during my time down here, but you’re always going to bump in to idiots no matter where you go.

Anyway, here’s my pre-match guide to all things Leicester.

Leicester churns out some incredible people. Willy Thorne? Yup, the gentleman of the baize is a Leicester boy. So is his best mate, Gary Lineker.

They even made a video about how strong their friendship is – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYqxmYgxhUA. It’s well worth a watch if you’ve got a spare 48 minutes and 53 seconds going on a Sunday morning, but did you know that half of MOTD has something to do with Leicester? We all know Gary is from Leicester, but Manish is a Leicester boy too, and Robbie Savage played for us, back when we were good. That was before Wenger came in, made Arsenal good and then gave up.

I remember seeing Robbie Savage driving through Leicester city centre in his silver Mercedes convertible. I think it was an SLK. He was driving at a reasonably slow speed, but his glorious, long, sun-kissed hair was flowing in the wind, elevated so that it protected the back of his neck from the harsh glare of the East Midlands sun. He didn’t look like a football player. In that moment, he looked like the son of a Greek god, raised on a diet of milk and honey. My friend asked me “Is that what a man looks like?” We looked at each other and just nodded in the kind of agreement that doesn’t need words. We just knew.
I saw the same friend the other day and we couldn’t help but talk about Robbie’s new haircut. What had he done?!?! The long, luxurious, carefree hippy locks had disappeared, only to be replaced with a Giroud-esque quiff. It seems to be all the rage these days, but both of our reactions were that of “what the hell has he done?”, but we soon realised that he was in transition, trading in decadence for a haircut for a man equipped to deal with the modern world.

In many ways, the story of Robbie Savage’s hair is a metaphor for Leicester City’s progress from runaway Championship leaders to Premiership new boys. In many ways it’s not, but I like the story and I want to see how much I can get away with on Le Grove.
Last year, Leicester City ran away with the Championship. It was sheer decadence. You see, we’ve got a decent manager in Pearson. I dare say he’s better than Wenger. Now I know that’s going to irritate a fair few of you, but that doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I’m a Leicester fan writing on an Arsenal blog. That’s half the reason why I said yes to writing this.
But have a read of this and then tell me I’m wrong.

A few years ago, Pearson was backpacking across Romania and was attacked by a pack of wild dogs and beat them away with his bare hands. How amazing is this story? Could you imagine Wenger doing that? Now this isn’t a case of me going “my manager is harder than yours”, but it’s an example of how Big Nige (that’s how I’m going to refer to him from now on) knows what he’s getting himself in for.
You see, before he set out, he read up on the area, heard about these dogs and learned that they have a history of attacking people. He also found out that they have sensitive noses and don’t like stinging nettles, so he made sure he took a big old walking stick with him and armed with his new found knowledge, set off. When he was attached, he dived in to a pile of stinging nettles. When they came back for him, he was nowhere near any stinging nettles, so he used his stick to hit them in the noses. They didn’t like that so they soon left him alone.
Now, if he’s done this kind of reading up before going on a walk, you can beat he’s had a look at you guys. He’ll set the team up to play against you, and that won’t be very hard. Have a think about that when Wenger makes his 70th minute substitutions.
The other reason why Big Nige is better than Wenger is that he’s invested in a team to look after his team. It’s not all about him. You won’t see him on the touchline. He’ll be in the stands.

There’s two reasons for this. Firstly, he can see the game better. He then passes the information down to his team who can do all the shouting and substitutions. It reminds me of Rugby Union, with the manager sat in a box surrounded by all the data instead of getting frustrated with fourth officials and coat zips on the touchline.

The second reason is because he’s built a strong team behind him that he completely trusts. That’s how we got promoted with 100+ points on the board.

I have to admit, I trolled Pete when we got promoted. It was great. We were winning stuff because we had a manager that believed in sports science and I couldn’t help but highlight Arsenal’s deficiencies. I’m pretty sure he’s posted this link in the past, but it’s well worth another read. It just goes to show that keeping your squad together, fit and injury free makes a massive difference. That’s because Big Nige had a plan. He planned the year out, brought in sports scientists and kept a smaller squad together for consistency whilst keeping them injury free.

But you’ve never had any problems in that department, have you?

Thinking ahead tomorrow, you can expect a couple of things. Leicester won’t be an easy game. Everton and Chelsea found that out. If we had a better striker than David “one game, one goal for England” Nugent, we’d have got something out of the Chelsea game.

We look like we can handle life in the Premiership, and if that’s not enough for you, we’ve just signed Estaban Cambi-fucking-asso.

You’re without Gibbs, Giroud and Arteta, haven’t signed a decent striker since RvP left, have a lack of depth in your defence and your midfield is unbalanced and underperforming. It’s the perfect time for a confident, fast-breaking team from the Championship to play you.

We’ll absorb pressure and then break at pace thanks to our wingers. Knockaert and Mahrez are worth keeping an eye on. Both are young, lightening quick, skilful and not afraid to shoot. Chelsea played a high line against us and these guys destroyed it, giving Nugent about 3 one-on-one chances against Courtois. If he wasn’t so good and Nugent wasn’t so mind-crushingly awful, we’d have scored. I hope for your sakes that Szczęsny isn’t the type to switch off.

That’s not to say we don’t have our own weaknesses. We’re looking short of quality at full back. Konchesky just doesn’t cut it I’m afraid, but any Liverpool fan could’ve told you that. If you guys start playing with pace and putting defence-splitting passes in and around our fullbacks, I’m going to have a horrible time watching the game.
But I doubt it. Leicester City are back in the premiership where they belong and I’ll be watching the game in an Arsenal pub, with a load of Arsenal supporting friends in a game that we’re expected to lose, but have a realistic chance of getting something out of it.

What more could I want?

Just don’t get any ideas about trying to poach our manager.

“Akpom was scoring left and right for the youth team, Afobe has 5 in 7 games for MK Dons .. both players I’m not sure can make it here but better options than Yaya by a mile.”

Therein lies the problem. Wenger never does the obvious and many deserving players do not get their fair chance and have had to give way to his pet projects, developing players for the French national team.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.” (Einstein)
Or should I say stupidity is believing that with Wenger around things will change in the slightest. Fact is nothing will change: same approach, same methods, same shortfalls and … same outcome.
3 games in the season and anger & frustration is at a peak… It is going to be one long season.

  3. Leedsgunner

“The solution every time you don’t win a game is to buy somebody. We are out there and we try our best, you have to trust us to buy the best possible solution but as well everytime you don’t win a game think there’s a miracle man. Why did Man City not win the game against Stoke? They have plenty of strikers, football is a team sport and we have not got to sell it as an individual sport.”

Funny he chose to focus on Man City losing and NOT Liverpool and Chelsea winning. Why did THEY win Wenger? The answer begins with an s and ends with a r.

Hilarious now he claims that it just doesn’t depend on him if the Club doesn’t sign a striker. Funny that he claims all the plaudits when it does go well.

    Never his fault is it?

  4. Gunner2301

    L’Equipe reporting we’ve bid €28m for Matuidi.

Hard to believe that Wenger would pay anywhere near that for a player he passed up 3 seasons ago or so for about 6 mill. His mother would have to be held captive by Somali pirates acting as Matuidis agents for Wenger to even consider it.

  5. Jeff

I watched Campbell on the bench today looking bemused. “Why am I even here” wast the question in his head. Indeed there are so many question marks, inexplicable things that make no sense at all.

I said earlier in the window that I was resigned to accepting fourth but even that looks a little shaky now.

  6. goonpharm

    1) Ox, Ozil, Kos, Giroud, Arteta all out. Thought we had “Shad The Redeemer” in our ranks now? #SHADOUT

    2) Ozil is played left so that Wilshere can be accommodated? Erm ok but Wilshere was benched.

    3) Bamford13August 31, 2014 18:45:42
Pedro tells Twitter today that we ‘re working on bringing players in and he’s glad to hear it.

    UTTER BOLLOCKS.

Mark my words we will not br adding anymore to the squad bar possibly a CB. Pedro is winding up the bullshit-O-meter ready for deadline day tomorrow. Watch. The post tomorrow will be full of “ooh my ITK sources tell me we’re in for player x, y and z” but come 11pm Monday night nothing will be done.

Don’t buy into the manufactured hype and you’ll see the situation for what it is.

  7. Leedsgunner

So we’ve bid €28m for Matuidi huh? Is this the same player who was available on a free (at the end of last season?).

Financial prudence and self sustainability at its best.

    Brilliant!

You can tell that bloke meant it went he said “fucking Wenger” and “to see this shit? Fuck off!”

Solid points. I’d love a Wenger lover to argue against anything he just said. 12 months ago we all knew we were a Giroud injury away from being fucked, we’re still there and it’s happened! Spot on!

  9. ADKB

Is it only me whose frustration has turned to embarrassment each time our star striker, YS22, gets the ball?

Don’t get me wrong guys. He’s a professional footballer and talented. I’m afraid, on 30 Aug 2014, we can’t mention him in the same breath as Diego Costa, RvP, Aguero Drogba, Sturridge … ok, you get the drift.

I don’t understand – why is YS22 on the pitch but Podolski and Ox are only good enough for the bench?

  10. kwik fit

Matuidi’s a very good player but I don’t believe for a second that were after him. What ever happen to Willy Carvalho. Was our 5m offer not enough

  11. Thank you and goodnight

    @Kwik

Yeah I loved his outburst right at the end. Honestly mate a thrashing against city could be the straw that broke the camels back as far as majority of fans are concerned. I reckon the media will go in for the kill as well, they’ve already started. Think we might have a few more ” why you looking at me” moments this season.

  12. Emiratesstroller

I said for the past four years that Wenger had passed his sell by date. I had hoped that the club would not renew his contract. However when Arsenal won FA Cup and he renewed his contract I decided to keep my mouth shut in the hope thatthe club would buy better players and improve the style of play.

Sadly that has not been the case. It seems to me that every player who joins us
goes backwards, because Wenger ‘knows it all’ and persists with his unsuccessful formula.

One of the reasons so many players have left the club has been not the poor
wages on offer, but the lack of progress that we make. The truth is that Wenger is a manager incapable of changing.

I cannot stand Mourinho, but the difference between him and Wenger is immense. He buys players to improve his team/squad and not to play to his
    formula.

If there are weaknesses in his team he works on improving the players. Yesterday he was critical of the team’s defending, but he acknowledge that last
Wednesday his squad had worked 90 minutes on defending set pieces. Looking at Arsenal the only thing I see is that the manger spends time on developing our short passing game.

Our players defend set pieces today as badly as they did three or four years
ago. The zonal marking is as bad as it was then.

We are equally poor at taking Corners as we were over many years ago. Our
performance today proved it with the ball seldom getting past first defender.

I question what exactly our expensive manager and coaching team actually
do during practice, because I see very little improvement in the way we play.
The only change is that expensive players get worse rather than better the
longer they stay at club. Just take a look at performance of players such as
    Wilshire,Cazorla and Ozil.

  13. SUGA3

    pharm,

and this is why we are expected to pay the premium for him, fucking dithering clown shoes Wenger could have had him for half of that price last summer…

Well said mate. Hit the nail on the head.

  15. Gunner2301

Wenger is the master con artist. Keep pushing out sound bites as if your interested in competing to keep the fans on the edge of their seats and desperate to come back. Time and again we’ve heard the same shit. It’s time to wake up Wenger is about making money not making history. The football has always been secondary for him.

  16. Cesc Appeal

    Leeds

    You beat me to it.

Available for a knock down fee in January as his contract was 5 months from expiring!

This is what I mean with the “Wenger is a genius brigade” is he fuck.

  17. Jeff

Any last minute purchase or panic buy will be made with one express desire – to salvage fourth – nothing more. That has always been and a always will be the target under Wenger – this you must never allow yourselves to forget.

  18. goonpharm

SUGA -he was never available last summer mate. He had a contract for 5 years on the table but was involved in some court case so delayed the signing.

He had no intention of leaving then or now. The only thing that has changed since then and now PSG are FFP – wary so may be inclined to sell to fall in line.

    But highly unlikely.

  19. Leedsgunner

“Solid points. I’d love a Wenger lover to argue against anything he just said. 12 months ago we all knew we were a Giroud injury away from being fucked, we’re still there and it’s happened! Spot on!”

    GunnerPete`August 31, 2014 11:02:13

@Kwik -Fit, You do know that Arsene gives his board a list of players he would like and then Gazidis and staff negotiate for them….don’t you?The only reason most top players want to come to AFC is because of Arsene. The very fact that Ozil & Sanchez are with us is AW……….so belt up sunshine and support our God Arsene for once.

Gunnerpete What did you think of todays game. Do you think that God Arsene will attract top players tomorrow?

I support Arsenal not one of its employees.

  21. SUGA3

    pharm,

maybe, but the problem here is that we will get dicked on the deadline day money wise: let’s say we get £25M for CL qualification, ho much of this sum do you think will get pissed up the wall due to the selling party holding all the cards?

not to mention the benefit of bedding them in early?

  22. Adam A. Carbarundum

Something tells me that Wenger will do something before the end of the window. The skeptic in me tells me he’s way too stubborn to do anything, as usual, but somehow I am convinced that Wenger is not a certifiable nutcase in the truest sense. No one can be that obtuse, can they?

  23. Cesc Appeal

  24. Lee

The ox should have started wide right
Campbell on the left and Sanchez through the middle with ozil behind him

    Ramsey was awful
I don’t understand why he isn’t utilising the pace on the bench

    Start those boys
    Let them run

  25. Ashwin Gunner

    Nothing is gonna change.

Wenger has to leave for Arsenal to win the league. He is medicore. and so his thought process, his strategy at TW and on the pitch is medicore.

Nothing is going to change. I just wish Gazidis deems Wenger too old to lead a club after at the end of current contract and moves on to find a new manager.

Will we struggle under a new manager?? Well we may. we may not. but atleast we will not be targeting 4th.

Wenger is taking the sheen of all the glorious history Arsenal Football club has.

Which top team in teh world has gone a decade without winning the league. Its unacceptable. I dont see how the Fuck AKB;s still believe in him. He should be taken aside and slapped till he wakes up from his sleep and realizes that he is shit..

  26. Gunner2301

    Adam A

You meant he guy that kept Johan Djourou at the club for 10 years? Diaby for 8, amassed such world class players they moved on to the following clubs?

    Santos to – Gremio
    Bendtner – Wolfsburg
    Frimpong – Barnsley
    Park Chu Young – Watford
    Chamakh – Palace
    Alumina – Watford

Wenger has been getting away with blue murder at the expense of the fans and has a lot to answer for.

  27. Relieable sauce

Joel Campbell told wenger he was a CF, so he benched him…

Sanogo told wenger he was a postman & he made him 2nd choice CF at the worlds 5th richest football club…

I’m sorry, but Arsenal fans are gullible doormats.

  28. goonpharm

Yet a huge section of fans in some bizarre daddy syndrome will not condemn him, always something else to blame

This is the kind of bullshit that causes problems on this blog. I believe Wenger is a problem but the lack of action from owner and CEO make them far more culpable in the whole debacle. So please do elaborate on the “daddy syndrome”.

  29. Jeff

I think with Wenger it could be as simple as whoever came to the club first. Giroud is ahead of Sanogo, but Sanogo is ahead of Campbell. He does not like to hurt Sanogo’s feelings by not playing him even though Campbell is the better option. Yes I understand he doesn’t have as much height advantage as Sanogo but that didn’t matter at all in this game anyway. It was all just pass, pass, pass but no real penetration – kept losing the ball. Awful and frustrating to watch.

  30. JJ

Arsene must be mentally ill. There is no other reason that our squad is in the state that it is and they way he makes his team selection.

Also, play Ozil in the middle or sell him. Completely useless on the wing.

  31. Ashwin Gunner

” I believe Wenger is a problem but the lack of action from owner and CEO make them far more culpable in the whole debacle. ”

I agree. They are equally to be blamed. they should have thrown out this sad bastard after he sold RVP to Man u

  32. Keyser

“This is the kind of bullshit that causes problems on this blog.”

Lol have you been here long ? You’d think wih the amoun of bullshit people come out with on here they migh have got together to at least do something about their misery, sadly it seems they like to bitch from home and blame other people.

I mean that Robbie dude might even allow you to post a video rant from home, or hell set-up your own youtube account.

  33. Ashwin Gunner

Wenger doesnt find right players in the market. Which market is he looking at Fish Market???????

I want to write a book

“How not to be a terrible manager”, Inspired on life of Mr Arsene Wenger

  34. goonpharm

Ashwin – add to that the sale of Cesc and Nasri when they were still in contract. The sales were sanctioned by Stan himself yet he gets absolutely no grief.

Why not overrule the manager and say keep all three as to replace them adequately will cost triple?

Wenger hates being questioned so either he changes (very unlikely) or he walks (almost a definite).

  35. goonpharm

Cesc appeal. How do you link supporting your teams manager with bizarre daddy syndrome?

I asked for you elaborate because it sounds like your reflecting fella. What happened daddy not around?

  36. Wengers Plastic Bottle

The difference in managers showed today in terms of squads

Brendan was loving it from the sidelines watching his team disband Spurs

Whilst Arsene was frantically pulling his hair out.

The team is so unbalanced, its like they also don’t communicate with each other.

Ramsey was asked whether the team was tired and he said yes.

Our players are not physical enough and breakdown too easily.

  37. kwik fit

Just You tubed Carlos Becca. Normally I treat you-tube with a pinch of salt as it tends to make average players look good. However, Carlos Bacca looks shit on You-tube, so we must be after him.

  38. Thank you and goodnight

    @Goonpharm

He shouldn’t be allowed to walk. Wenger should have his p45 pinned to his arse with a knife and thrown out of his office head first with the words “Fuck off and don’t dare set foot in the Emirates again you bastard” , ringing in his ears.

  39. Adam A. Carbarundum

Guys, I’m trying to find a positive in a sea of negatives. I’m hopeful for something that will help the club, but the reality is that Wenger Know Best – according to himself of course.

What I find most frustrating is that it appears that those on this site are forced to take Crazy Pills to just fit in with the AKB’s. This is so beyond ridiculous that year in and year out we are forced to suffer this fool. No one, not even the AKB’s can justify the wants and needs of this club, no one!

  40. Ashwin Gunner

    goonpharm

The onus lies on the manager mate. it is on the manager to manage his team. its on him to buy and sell players he wants. If owners and CEOs get in the mix its always a disaster. so that the reason why they dont get involved. they get involved if they are asked to..

Take chelsea example. Mou decides who comes in and goes out. Abrahanovich comes in if he has to spend a significant amount of money on a player. but still its the manager who makes the decision.

In our case, our owners are behaving the exact same dignifed way they should be. what they dont realize is, that the maanger is a stupid ass hole who does not have ambition to win anyting but only to accumulate money and sit on it..

  41. Sam

don’t believe the Bacca story, it’s goal.com. He’s a small, skilful striker who got 21 goals for Sevilla last season and won the Europa League. I like him a lot, but Wenger would have to totally change the way we play. Well, assuming he didn’t put him on the left wing and play Sanogo alone up front…….
    Lots of mad stories around.
Just heard Negredo back to Valencia on loan. Wonder if City are forking out for Falcao?

  42. Gunner2301

Jeff that logic doesn’t work Poldi was there before Sanogo. It’s a French project thing with Wenger gives him kudos back in France, to which he is loyal before Arsenal that’s why he’ll entertain so many of their shit players. Campbell just got caught in the middle of the French love in at Arsenal.

  43. Cesc Appeal

    goonpharm

Because you grab and grasp at anything, “think about this” “think about that” “what if it’s the CEO…what if it’s the owner” deflection, deflection, deflection

And whilst nothing is black and white it feels like you’re clutching in a refusal to place blame at Wenger’s door. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one mate.

He signed a new 3 year deal under the circumstance you’re alluding to? A restrictive CEO/Owner, knowing the increasing levels of flack he’s getting from supporters after 17 years? Can’t see it.

I also can’t see a CEO who goes on and on about financial fire power and Arsenal as some giant on the stage of football then twiddling his moustache behind the scenes and fucking over a manger who was on the board that appointed him!

You reach if you want. I know who’s door I lay our squad problems at. There’s getting behind the manager and there’s bending logic to try to defend him, producing hypothetical after hypothetical.

And yes you can’t use that word it’s a boo-boo word. We’ve all asked Pedro to put a list up because no one is entirely sure what we can and can’t say.

  44. James wood

Ok Sanchez got the goal today he was where he was supposed
    To be at that moment.
But most of the time he’s chasing round all over like a headless chicken
Perhaps that’s why Barca let him go.

  45. Honest Bill

We were truly awful again. Our passing game has gone to shit and our midfield is awful. I don’t think it matters who we sign. The team just has no cohesion. This has been a persistent problem for two years now and is not getting any better. We’ll struggle for forth if we keep playing like this. 5 Games in and not a single good performance to show for it.

Credit to Sanchez though. He’s having to do everything and has not hidden away. Everyone else was woeful.

  46. Sam

Only at arsenal you see world cup stars being benched for a striker going 2 seasons without a competitive goal

    Arsene wenger is sooo stoooopid
Mourinho must be laughing when watching arsenal play

  47. Hitman

    I think he’s settled for 4th already.

Chavs, Northern Chavs and Loserpool look like they will finish above us easily.

He is just calculating whether the current squad is enough to finish above Manu , Spuds & Everton.
No need for the additional spend to win the league. AW doesn’t care for any longer glory. He is only in it for the pay cheque.

The only things that will rid us of Wenger are death, scandal or skeletons in the cupboard.

  48. OhtobeaGooner

Wenger has no intention of bringing anyone in. He knows its that much harder to sign a quality player at the end of a window. Teams have no time to replace. He’ll say he tried but he can’t force teams to sell etc.

I honestly cannot fathom how another transfer window is nearly over and we still have not addressed CB, DM and ST. How can anyone defend Sanogo starting? Even f*ckin revin kev cannot defend that shit.

There was actually a time over decade ago where I truly believed Wenger would go down as one of the top 3 managers ever. Who would have thought he would become such a self indulgent prick

  49. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

    So el tel

Your beloved wenger got an away point
Unbeaten this season more than spurs eh?

Time to raise the bar fella spurs ain’t the yard stick anymore….

    Wenger has killed this club.

  50. Toli83

This is how i see it…

Wenger is still convinced everyone owes him one for getting us 4th on a limited budget. The only thing he forgets is that we know there isn’t a limited budget and the only reason we put up with 4th is his lack on ambition.

  51. Gunner2301

    Honest Bill

We have too many of the same type of players as a result of Wengers obsession with midfielders. It will take major surgery to sort this mess out. Wenger solves one problem getting rid of the dross and creates another bringing in the wrong type of players.

Because you grab and grasp at anything, “think about this” “think about that” “what if it’s the CEO…what if it’s the owner” deflection, deflection, deflection

And whilst nothing is black and white it feels like you’re clutching in a refusal to place blame at Wenger’s door. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

He signed a new 3 year deal under the circumstance you’re alluding to? A restrictive CEO/Owner, knowing the increasing levels of flack he’s getting from supporters after 17 years? Can’t see it.I also can’t see a CEO who goes on and on about financial fire power and Arsenal as some giant on the stage of football then twiddling his moustache behind the scenes and fucking over a manger who was on the board that appointed him!You reach if you want.

    Erm ok.

Cesc you go to University so I’ll assume you can read. So here goes; please ask me slow down or clarify if you get stuck.

1 – Wenger has been failing Arsenal for years. That is agreed by most fans. But I’m of the school of the thought that there should be some form of pressure on him to see if he can improve and get back to the old days and if he can’t then sack him.

2 – The two people who could do me anything about it is Ivan and Stan. They didn’t. For that reason their burden of culpability is greater than Wengers. They had the perfect opportunity to do so this summer but bottled it. Weak owner, weak CEO and weak vision of where we are going ad a club.

3- The simplest explanation is not always the correct one. It’s the easiest one to follow for sheep like yourself.

So in summary I’m not an AKB, I don’t hold candle for Wenger I just choose to look at the bigger picture and come to my own conclusion.

    “€28m for Matuidi”

If Wenger pays that and continues to rely on Sanogo then he deserves to be sectioned.

The only way he will leave the club is it he past away, harsh

But the gravy train he is on pays to good, football long ago went out the window.

I was hoping for a defeat today not cos I hate arsenal contrary , I hate despise wenger like a teens get hates her parents when they say no,,,
U knew , I knew when he signed Sanchez it closed the the door on signings…

Why don’t he fuck off to the tax haven of monaco with his riches… ?

    Pause your moaning lads.

There’s a proper game of football going on.
Real Sociedad 3 Real Madrid 2
    Sociedad came back from 0-2

  61. Hitman

Goonpharm , AW was behaving like this well before Gazidis & Kronke came on the scene.

He was a serial loser – missing out in Finals that should have been won.

Poor signings, lack of qualitee signings, poor tactics.

  62. Honest Bill

    Gunner2301.

It’s not just that mate. Most of these guys are good players and should have the ability to string a few passes together, yet they are all fucking about with the ball trying to be flash cunts all the time. There was a big story about how Ramsey improved after simplifying his game, so why has he gone back to fannying around? It’s the same with all of them. They just need to play simple pass and move football.

The quality is there but Wenger fails to motivate them properly. They are mentally unprepared for every game. There’s no excuse for a team full of midfielders to be unable to get a passing game going. It’s ridiculous.

“AW: “…I have worked long enough in England to know that I don’t like to promise what 100 per cent doesn’t depend on me.”Here we fuckin go!!”

You still like taking 100% of your £8m per annum salary though don’t you? Whether or not you keep your promise.

    Hypocritical coward.

At least have the conviction and courage to stand by your decisions rather than saying in effect, “it’s not all my fault?!?”

Whose fault is it? Who does it depend on, if it’s not you?

As I say you can believe what you want.

To counter, if a football manager is so shit that he needs a CEO or an American owner to “have a word” or “apply pressure” regarding football matters – doesn’t that mean that manager has no business even being there?

I agree to a point though. I was disappointed with the contract offer. But I think Arsenal fans have to shoulder some blame as well; can you imagine how they’d have kicked off had he been pushed?

Kroenke is in love with Wenger, Gazidis was appointed by a panel with Wenger on it. Now as far as I can see and just speculating we’ve got a three way power thing here. The majority owner, billionaire. Bit of a silent arm in the club clearly has aspirations for making Arsenal a big sports franchise type thing. Gazidis who is a money man, commercials, revenue etc. He;s doing his job. Wenger is the football. Who’s not doing their job in this picture? What a decision it would have been for the Owner and CEO to sack a manager who is sycophantically followed still by so many Arsenal fans even after a series of hideous embarrassments over the recent past.

    Who…isn’t…doing…their…job…here?

Simplest explanation if usually correct mate. Rule a lot of people follow, baaaaaa. Unless of course you have a problem accepting that explanation.

Don’t get rude either. If you can’t just debate without getting flustered then don’t do it. Go have a walk or something. It’s yet more evidence of the previously discussed syndrome, you get all worked up. Settle.

He’s just an old ego now, refusing to join the modern world. He lives in a football world which to be fair he helped shaped with what were new ideas at the time. That’s where he’s comfortable, that’s where he’s staying.

  67. gazzap

I know what Wenger is doing. He is leaving the signing of a 4th choice CB until the deadline day so we feel grateful that he actually bought anybody. But this summer is a real let down after getting Sanchez. We haven’t capitalised on a strong situation.

    “Arsene must be mentally ill.”

That’s what we can call a scoop.

Keyser, in wenger you will rust.

James Rodriguez is the flash no the pan

A very good flash but he’s risen up too fast to deserve a starting place in a loaded Madrid team due to his massive transfer.

Negredo loaned to Valencia, or looks that way, saying that a future £20 Million move may happen at the end of the loan.

  71. Marko

    4-2.

On Falcao literally makes no sense him going there. His wages the fee would demand he plays. But at the same time Dzeko and Aguero signed new deals and Jovetic looks good so what’s the point unless you plan on stockpiling strikers? Very silly. To be fair while the guy Swanson on sky sports was reporting what Balague said he also said a city source denies city would sign Falcao this window.

  72. Keyser

    “Who…isn’t…doing…their…job…here?”

To somehow think this you’d have to accept that they weren’ pulling their weight for all those years before we renegotiated new sponsorship deals.

    Just another sheep.

  73. Alex Cutter

“…I have worked long enough in England to know that I don’t like to promise what 100 per cent doesn’t depend on me.”

What kind of passive aggressive bullshit is this?

  74. Dissenter

    It’s so disheartening to read the silly mantra that;
    “Arsene must be mentally ill.”

    Stop belittling mental illness.

    He’s not mentally ill.
A 65 year old man who earns £8 million p.a and has a 100 year old football club (along with the CEO and two billionaire owners) eating from his hand is not mentally ill.

Wenger is a stubborn, arrogant, know-all’, blah, blah blah. He’s fully functional.

I bet he’s more physically and mentally astute than 99.9% of posters here.

  75. Dissenter

    Cesc,
If Negredo is on the way out of City then the clear out is on.

They are bringing in Falcao to go for the CL.

Why do make things all this complicated just make a damn good squad and play the team.. Simione works with even slimmer budget he ‘s doing all that’s necessary. They replaced Costa&Villa with Mandzukic & Griezmann and added Cerci. Smart move and all very good players. We haven’t properly replaced each of our outgoing players nor in a timely manner. RVP and Gilberto replacement still pending even after 6 years. It’s a joke we are laughing stock !!!!!!!!!!!
