What’s going on Arsenal… what the hell is going on!

This is incredible.

We had a problem…

We addressed it…

We did it early…

This is amazing. Arsenal finally learned their lessons. Arsenal finally won a summer. Arsenal just showed the world they’re a grown up outfit.

This is what happened when I told Thomas Mueller.

What a fucking loon…

Alexis Sanchez is a proper signing. What I like about him is he’s exactly the sort of player Wenger used to sign back in the day. He’s not a superstar like Ronaldo or Messi, he’s a player on the verge of super stardom. He’s gone to Barca and has had a pretty bad time of it, now he has to find somewhere to put himself back on top.

For me, we’re the club that makes him. He’s this decades Thierry Henry. He’s on the cusp of greatness, he’ll find that greatness with us… if he works out, he’ll forever be synonymous with Arsenal. That’s why it’s so exciting. The best is yet to come, his big moments are Arsenal moments.

Arsenal just knocked it out of the park. Forget Cesc, forget Diego Costa, forget anything anyone else has done this summer… we just bought the player every Premiership fan is drooling over.

I can’t tell you how over the moon I am.

I’d been told that we were after him at the start of June. My big concern was that I’d been told similar things last summer. Were our ambitions going to be too big again? We went hard last summer and everything fell through. So it was a worry that we were doing the same thing this time around… but we’ve pulled it off this time.

Could we have done it last year? Probably not. What’s changed? Well, I think we’re a far more attractive proposition now. Ozil was the watershed moment, once we landed him, we became a brand in the eyes of great players. Then factor in the emergence of Aaron Ramsey and all of a sudden, people outside Arsene can buy into the vision and the story.

Spending money is how you build success, but spending it wisely is how you make the best impact. I think Arsene has spent £30m and he’s bought a lot of value.

How do  we kick on from here?

We need a defensive midfielder, a centre back and a keeper capable of being number one. Make that happen, let Shad Forsythe make his mark and it’s hard not to put us down as title contenders.

Incredible events…

Also, what a great day for Puma. They launched on the day Sanchez arrived to sign. There were some last minute hold ups on the deal yesterday, so it was touch and go, but what a way to intro our new number 17!

Björn Gulden, Chief Executive Officer at PUMA said, “This evening was a momentous occasion for PUMA, and one we have looked forward to for some time. Many people here have been working hard towards this moment and I’m sure Arsenal fans around the world will be excited by the kit designs, as well as the training and fanwear collections.  It is a privilege working with Arsenal, not just because of the stature of the club but also the integrity of its people.  I am absolutely sure this is the start of a long and prosperous relationship for both PUMA and Arsenal.”

Arsène Wenger, Manager of Arsenal FC added, “This is a big day for Arsenal.  It is the start of our new partnership with PUMA and everyone here is extremely happy with how things are developing.  We like the performance innovations PUMA is creating for our playing and training kits and have real confidence in the support they will give us as our technical partner.  Today is a landmark in our club’s history as we look ahead to the upcoming season.”

I missed the kit launch yesterday, but the water projection video with the back drop of the London Eye was pretty spectacular work from Ogilvy. No messing from Arsenal. I’d imagine the marketing department at Arsenal have had to sign people off with stress this week… first times they’ve had something to work with in a while!

On the kits, I love them. The blue kit is really smart with the double button down and the rest are bright, modern and too tight for people who shouldn’t be wearing football shirts.

If I was 14  years old, I’d be all over the shirt.

My dad wants one, what a joke. However, joke is on him… he wants Alexis on the back… that’s my mums name. What a total LOL. Having your wife’s name on your back. Totally hen pecked.

Also, just a quick note to all the melts who keep saying to me, ‘Arsene Wenger is so incredible for signing Sanchez’, get a grip. He’s paid £8m a year, he’s one of the highest paid managers in the world, he should be making signings like this. It’s exactly what I’ve wanted him to do for years. I’m not going to give him a round of applause and tweet #OneArseneWenger because he’s done his job properly. However, I will keep those Speedo pics under wraps. He’s made the right moves so far. He has the fans off his back if things start going wrong because he’s put effort into his squad. He’s improved us. He’s kicked on. He’s tried something different and we all love it.

Progress. It’s a beautiful thing.

  1. Nasri's Mouth

Paulinho: I didn’t just mention his position, I mentioned several weaknesses that had nothing to with where he plays.

Oh, so still sticking with the idea of him playing up front as laughable then

  2. Klauspoppe

Messi actually makes the Barca frontline static as he rarely moves off the ball now. Use to be a stunning team player now lazy as Arshavin but breathing different air as he’s still fucking majestic.

The movement of frontlines were way more slick and fluid when all three players rotated regularly like Germany at this WC. With Messi staying static in the centre, the movement is restricted and the passing football is boring…….

WIsh Messi returns to the right to cut inside with Suarez up top and Neymar as a wide forward as he is fast with and without the ball. Messi is practically a no.10 now.

  3. MidwestGun

Don’t disagree that Sanchez needs to work on his decision making. But you could have subbed any players name in that article. And written it the same way.
Santi needs to work on his decision making and leadership and not miss chances. JW needs to work on his decision making and leadership and not miss chances. Aaron Ramsay needs to work on his decision making and leadership and not miss chances. Giroud….. ah nevermind he’s hopeless. Lol

  4. Nasri's Mouth

    @Cesc Appeal

It’ll take a lot of money to get Pogba from Juve. They don’t especially need to sell, and his value is going to increase in the next couple of years. Still if he pushes for the move they might have to.

  5. N5

Paulinho, out of intecan you tell me which Arsenal players you do rate, because I don’t think I’ve ever seen you talking positively about any of them and I wondered who exactly was your kind of player?

  6. Cesc Appeal

I haven’t actually looked into it but a mate of mine said last night there were pictures of him in London near Stamford Bridge and in a Debuchy like move he deleted Juventus from his profile or something? Not sure if he was saying Twitter or what.

He’s a Madrid fan hoping they’ll sign him, but I said if he’s in London then it’s Chelsea. Especially after the little picture of him on his Football Manager career 😉

  7. Honest Bill

If he can achieve the same sorta numbers he did at Barca last season, i don’t care if he flips a coin to determine who to pass to. No player makes the right call all the time. If his decision making is poor then god knows how he’s so productive.

No, it’s a generic criticism that people use when they have nothing else to say. Coaches want all players to improve and do the right thing all the time. Scoring and assisting is always the right decision and Sanchez chooses that more often than most players.

He didn’t score as much as Messi. Thankfully that’s the benchmark at Barca or they wouldn’t be selling some of the best players in the world.

  8. Cesc Appeal

I think it’ll be a fight between them and PSG for him. Potentially Juventus as well if they do indeed sell Pogba to Chelsea or whoever, or Vidal of course.

I’m interested to see if United take it up a gear next week in the transfer market.

  9. Paulinho

N5 – You can’t have being paying much attention then, because I’ve been singing the praises of Mertesacker since day one.

  10. Revving Kevin

You have some neck mate. But that’s spuds all over, most deluded fans in the planet.

Everything you post is negative or to slag a player off. First Ozil, now you’re on Sanchez case posting links that you think supports your negative views a few days ago.

Very predictable mate and not very clever.

  11. Nasri's Mouth

    @Cesc Appeal

According to Italian journos he was shopping, nothing to do with CFC at all

Kinda makes sense. If you flew into CFC you wouldn’t necessarily then go shopping afterwards

  12. N5

Paulinho, I obviously missed it, it wasn’t a dig, I just wondered what type of player did float your boat. Out of our entire team is Per the only one?

  13. Cesc Appeal

Hmmm, we shall see I suppose. I think one of him or Vidal will be off this window though. I hope it’s not Chelsea for Pogba though, could be an incredible talent, needs to be allowed to flourish somewhere.

  14. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

I wouldn’t say Giround is hopeless
His stat say he is good at home (ironic) against lower teams

Can’t find the net outside london.

He could be a good hold up only if we went 442 an he hadd a buddy up front with him

  15. Revving Kevin

    Dear N5
I did predict what would happen mate. This blog used to encourage them, they coud hide amongst all the negativity and Gooners would believe they were Gooners.

Good news or a good win and they were on here pretending to moan about something. Paulinho has firm, got called out before.

Complete idiot. The trolls ruin this place but hopefully nowxwe’re in the up they’ll worry about their own shit clubs. We moaned about ut 9 years while building a stadium, those clowns are into year 54 since last coming top. Fucking deluded idiots.

  16. Klauspoppe

I don’t think Paulinho’s response to Remy vs Sanchez wasn’t too extreme but the debacle with Keyser didn’t help.

Sanchez in the centre won’t be tugging between the centrebacks and trying to make timely runs in behind when he’s being roughed up. Most likely IF he play centrally he’ll drift back as a false nine and allow our runners to bomb forward, Walcott, Ramsey, Ozil (Khedira pls).

I don’t like the false nine unless its played by clinical footballers like RVP or Messi or Benzema that are superb in linking play, comfortable drifting back and clinical finishing. Giroud offers the positioning and link-up play but thats only 1/2 viable attacking routes available. The ability to make runs past the defence and take advantage is also crucial. The reading of the attack gets narrower.

Sanchez also isn’t there yet and is still far from it. His main asset is his physicality and it would be stupid to not take advantage of his main asset until it wears out then he can gradually change his role.

The long ball over the defence to find the running striker is football 101. If perfectly polished is one of the best weapons. RVP was stunning for us when striking long balls over the defence on first touch. We’ve all seen the perfect false nine and what type of player it requires.

  17. N5

Kev did you see that link london posted last night from the Spuds forum called “let’s all laugh at Arsenal”? what a bunch of horrible bastards they are! wishing death on our players and supporters and still referring to us as Woolwich! Such a deluded bunch of bellends.

    Forever in our shadow!!

  18. Paulinho

N5- I think it was a dig, but I’ll answer it anyway.

Ramsey, Wilshere’s talent(but not his current level due to injuries), Mert, Ozil, Wally is growing on me, Oxalade on the fence. I love Arteta for the personality he is and his ‘team first’ mentality but meh as a player.

There is probably more I don’t rate than do, and until that changes, I’ll probably tend to focus on that because ultimately that will decide whether we win leagues or not. I don’t mind a few average players if the good overrides the bad in terms of net effect, like it did back in 98, 02, 04.

  19. Revving Kevin

    Paulinho you clown.

Sanchez, Ozil and now Theo on the end of your scorn.

And you claim the arsenal player you like is Per!!!

How’s That Bale money going. Hope you havnt spent it all on a load of shit. 😉

  20. N5

Paulinho I don’t hide a dig! if I was making one I’d say so. It does feel that you dislike a lot of our players, so I was interested in what you are looking for out of them that’s all.

  21. MidwestGun

    Rspc –
Your right Giroud not completely hopeless in some games. Games we dominate possession. Or where he has a physical advantage over the CB size wise.
    Ok you convinced me.
Giroud needs to work on his leadership(not sleep with ho’s before the game),decision making(a flick on doesn’t work every time) and not miss chances(no kidding).

  22. Paulinho

Klauspoppe – If you’ve watched Sanchez for a number of years – like you obviousl have – then expressing a mild amount of incredulity at him being played up a against centre backs in his first season in the Premier League is a natural response.

He can play as a false nine and try deep but he will still need to present a threat in behind and that means large spells playing up on the centre backs, especially since he’s not as cerebral or does he possess the vision of a Fabregas.

  23. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

The wool which bit is banter

    The death bit,., wrong

I’m sure if you scratched the surface you could find any news you wanted regarding their past?

    Former address

    Played in red

  24. Revving Kevin

    Dear N5
Yep saw that mate. Poor stuff but that’s what they are like. This clown on here today, names himself after a spurs signing and thinks he’s a smart arse pretending he’s a fan just so he can insult our players.

Spurs fans are obsessed with us, they still call us Woolwich 100 years on like we care!!

I feel sorry for them, can you imagine what it must be like constantly being second best and having us laugh at them.

Must be absolute hell. They really are deluded, the big clubs in Europe have to look them up in the phone book. Horrible fans, totally deluded.

    A nothing club.

  25. N5

Yeah I agree RSPCA, I get the Woolwhich bit, but the death bit is just too far. I’ve never wished death on a Spud, just to get maimed! 😀

  26. Paulinho

    N5 – Cool mate.

Honest – Okay you think Walcott’s decision-making over the years as been good enough. Right.

  27. Cesc Appeal

I think for his own good we should sign Vidal…for Sanchez obviously, not just to see how long I can keep this erection going for!

  28. Klauspoppe

Sanchez for Chile played a wide front two with Vargas. Sanchez had a free role anywhere across the front with Vargas constantly looking to make a run behind. Sanchez with the ball at his feet with long durations constantly looking to find the pass across field right-to-left. That’s not a CF and he isn’t one. He’s a SS and a great one.

  29. N5

Kev, my old mans always referred to them as the biggest small club in the world, delusion makes them think they are on the same playing field as Arsenal, United, Chelsea and Citeh, but reality they are sitting in the same place as Stoke, Newcastle, Villa etc!!

  30. Cesc Appeal

What the heck is the difference between an “Authentic Home Jersey” and a “Replica Home Jersey?” Despite £45 of course!!

  31. Cesc Appeal

You might do fan girl scream, I’ll do *chucked out of Emirates Stadium for public masturbation.”

  32. N5

Lol GoB I forgot about that, how cutting was his comment!!

Wasn’t is something like, there is nothing worse than waking up and seeing your name in a newspaper linked with Tottenham?

  33. Cesc Appeal

“It hurts when you’re always doing your best for your club and then you hear that you might be going to Tottenham,”

    🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  34. Nasri's Mouth

    @Cesc Appeal

If you’re a bit on the plump side it’s the difference between feeling relaxed and having people laugh at the stomach and laughing

  35. N5

Lol Cesc priceless. The fact he said hurts is so cutting!! I hope someone prints a massive poster with that on it for Tottenham.

  36. Klauspoppe

“especially since he’s not as cerebral or does he possess the vision of a Fabregas.”

I would say Fabregas is in a different league but Sanchez is adept and the fact he is playing with 2 incredible playmakers in Cazorla and Ozil will share responsibility and make him shine. To hold majority of this role like he did for Chile will make most players erratic in their attempts.

I like Remy. With Ozil playing in between the lines, which forces defenders to closely mark him will create hesitancy between the defenders to either stay back to limit Remy’s bursting runs or keep tight on Ozil to prevent him any space and time to pick out the perfectly weighted pass. Giroud does’t offer this to the full extent. Again just looking back as far as Adebayor with RVP showed us this. RVP has great passing and vision.

  37. Revving Kevin

Perfect description. You talk to other clubs fans and they all hate spuds for the reason. Totally deluded and a to like they are a big club. We don’t even see them as rivals a y more. That’s how irrelevant they have become.

This Paulinho fella proves the point. We mean so much to them, they are so envious.

Well they thought it was bad before, well they’re got a shock in store. Biggest wankers in the league.

  38. Cesc Appeal

Oh okay, so it’s literally the fit?

Not actually buying one, 24, think I’m a bit old for all that – not that I judge anyone who wants one, just my opinion. Just take a scarf if I’m going to a game.

Just wondered what the £45 worth of difference was. An authentic one is £100!!

  39. Cesc Appeal

I give it to Spurs Eriksen was a great purchase for £11 Million. One of the few things they did right last summer now we look at it.

But you can’t even compare the two! The fact that Spurs were easily able to snag him for £11 Million speaks volumes, doesn’t play in the UCL, plays for a team with no expectation on them, didn’t come with a whopping price tag, doesn’t play for a side that gets massive media and social media attention so that his every game is scrutinised etc etc

Spurs got a better deal, but Ozil is a far better player and we behaved like a big club buying him.

  40. Nasri's Mouth

    @Cesc Appeal

Yeah, I think so, the £100 ones are the player ones.

I’m torn, I want to buy a ‘loose’ one to wear to games, but also a tight one for running. (I’ve checked with the other half and she says I’d be alright in the tight one!!)

  41. Cesc Appeal

I was thinking the exact same thing!

I’m built like a runner so I’m okay with them. £100 is a bit steep for a running shirt for a poor old Uni student 🙁

Make a deal with Arsenal (like they care) get in a great CDM a couple more buys and I’ll grab one of the Authentic shirts for running.

  42. TitsMcgee

Sanchez went on to confirm he has spoken to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger about the possibility of playing a variety of positions, with his familiar role on the wing not the only slot he may be asked to fill for the Gunners.

“The manager has mentioned some certain positions, but I am not worried about it right now. The manager and I will talk about my role as soon as I start training,” he said.

“Arsene Wenger’s style of play is the sort of style the Chile national team has. Therefore I am used to it. Arsenal plays very well, which fits my style. That’s why I moved here.

“I was told that he is a manager you can learn a lot with. He wants to achieve great things in football and that helped me make the decision to sign for Arsenal.”

  43. Honest Bill

Interesting that you should qualify the question with ‘over the years’. Do you suggest that Walcott’s performances when he was a young player somehow affect the productivity of last season? Are you saying that Walcott achieves good goals and assists as a 24 year old but is a poor decision maker because he didn’t achieve the same thing years ago?

Who cares about ‘over the years’? Walcott’s decision making has been fine lately as evidenced by all his goals and assists. When he was younger he wasn’t achieving that hence ‘poor decision making’. What better decision can a forward make than to score or assist? What is the desired result of every attacking move?

  44. Cesc Appeal

Like I say my whole family are Spurs.

I said I want to watch Sky Sports News for the official Sanchez thing and they said, “oh it’s just a transfer, who gives a fuck?”

Quick as a flash without even turning round I said, “the guy who engraves the Premier League trophy.”

  45. Cesc Appeal

I think Sanchez saying “I hear Arsenal are a club that really care about their players and look after them” is a shot against Barcelona.

  46. TitsMcgee

“Because of those who do not understand football we must sell the best player we have at Barca,” Stoichkov said. “The policy of Barca was always like this, they do not like great players. [Alexis] is the best player for his pace, his battling qualities. He fights for every ball, he plays for the team. I like his mentality. He is leaving with his head high. He is a decisive player.”

  47. Cesc Appeal

That darrenarsenal1 bloke said it’s Germant for a CDM, so that fits. Think Khedira is first choice.

  48. N5

“Quick as a flash without even turning round I said, “the guy who engraves the Premier League trophy.”

  49. salparadisenyc

Khedira with a year left on his contract will go for no more that £20m i’d imagine.
Not sure what kiddo was tweeting. Seems the most likely with that transfer fee, if they can work a wage out that’s reasonable. Mesut gets a buddy, German physio coming in…. all coming together.

Not sure where that leaves young (ish) Jack.

  50. salparadisenyc

    MidwestGunJuly 11, 2014 18:41:30
    Sal –
Interesting, tough call, do you think Italian referee favors Germans or Argentines?

    Whomever is paying the most.

  51. Paulinho

Honest – Walcott has always posted decent numbers in terms of goals to games, even when his deficiencies in terms of decision-making were in the full bloom. He has improved in that department granted, but my point still stands even if I’m thinking more of the 08-12 version of him.

Decision-making is not just final third pull backs or crosses, it’s picking the ball up in the middle third and deciding when to release the ball, when to run with it, when to keep it and play it back in order to take the sting out of game. It’s an umbrella term which can refer to a plethora of scenarios in a football match.

With Sanchez I’ve seen him in congested areas panic and as a reflex response to that situation he’ll try and run through players rather than draw them onto him and wait for an outball, like a Hleb would do.

  52. Revving Kevin

you are funny mate. Not a good day for you lot today is it?

Well hold on to your clown hat, it’s about to get a lot worse. There are more signings on the way!!!

  53. Ashwin Gunner

    didn;t realize it..

“Its true Ashwin. I know you are not.I think I have a particular sense of humour that some (most) people neither get or like.”

my bad. am sorry mate. i thought you meant it .. No offense taken..

    Brothers………. 😀

  54. Samir

As we saw with Jack…He’s played on the wing (didn’t do a very good job as he has no pace)

He can play CM and CAM. So, he can rotate with Ramsey and Ozil.

  55. N5

As much as it pains me, I’d have to say Robben, when he kept on this feet he was playing some unbelievable football.

  56. tunnygriffboy

Surely Jack would be part of an ever improving squad and would have to up his game to get a place. I think it’s great, depth and selection options.

Anyone know why Debauchery not been announced ? Is it due to Jenko possibly going on loan to Newcastle ?

  57. Honest Bill

Okay i can appreciate what you’re saying. But i think that when deployed as a forward the primary objective for Theo is to do well on the end of a move which others have created.

I agree that Theo ispretty much useless at any other stage of a move but i wouldn’t say it’s all down t poor decision making, though that is a factor. I think it’s mostly that he lacks the skill of a player like Sanchez. He can’t beat a man like AS can

While i do agree that Sanchez over-dribbles sometimes and isolates himself, i don’ think it will bee much of a problem. Barca don’t set up anything like i expect Arsenal will next season. and Sanchez has a touch of class above Theo which means he won’t lop-side the team like Theo does. But he is still lethal in behind the defense and his off the ball decision making is as good as anyone. Just look at his incisive runs for Barca and the amount of conversions.

Theo is effective but not even close to being as good as Sanchez in terms of ball control, passing, vision, skill etc

  58. salparadisenyc

I agree, sad in a way as a couple years ago i’d of imagined him starting.
Likely his make or break season with the club.

The butcher is being held until we secure Manquillo so Jenks can be loaned is what I read.

If it comes together how it could..

    and potentially Remy

  59. Nasri's Mouth

I do wonder how much of the Khedira stuff is actually driven by Real Madrid in an attempt to drum up interest…

…I’m still hoping for Schneiderlin or Bender…

  60. tunnygriffboy

I was ever the optimist we’d sign players this TW but not at the level we appear to be doing. It’s incredible really. It’s a bit like Scrouge before and after in AChristmas Carol. We’ll be buying Tiny Tim next 🙂

  61. MidwestGun

    Off topic sort of-
but I don’t think for a minute Paulinho is a Spud fan. I saw their blog on London’s link. He’s too articulate. So he doesn’t agree with people on evaluating players.. Doesn’t bother me. So he had a major disagreement with Keyser. Who hasn’t? Lol. Not everyone has to love every player to be a fan. Monreal, Giroud, Arteta, Szczesny,Sanogo, Flamini not my cup of tea at the moment. And I’m still iffy on Gibbs and Debuchy should he come. I think they are fine upstanding people but I don’t have to love their footballing skills.

  62. Thomas

“Not a good day for you lot today is it?”

Why wouldn’t it be a good day? And what lot are you talking about?

  63. Ashwin Gunner

Why on Earth would some paper link Vidal and Di Maria with Man u.. I am sure it is rumour. but if it is not then it is really a cause for concern.. Firstly if they are in market we should be going for them.. We need players in those positions and they are definitely an upgrade on what we have.

Secondly, Man u will be a very strong team with RVP, Rooney, Di Maria, Mata, Vidal….

We should definitelty going for atleast one of them if they are in market..

  64. Revving Kevin

Is it Red Nose Day or something?

    Too articulate!!! Lol.

We have the most gullable fans on the planet, hence the infiltration. We’re too bloody nice! 😉

  65. kwik fit

Max Banning just copped off with a fit police women.
Aren’t soaps supposed to be a parody of real life.

  66. salparadisenyc

Gorgeous blue looks a bit plastic for my liking… wonder what colour those knickers are.

Tunny, funny you seen Scrooged with Bill Murray?
Dated yet always worth watching and right on your point.

  67. Bamford13

If we sign Bender or Khedira in addition to Sanchez and Debuchy, I may stop complaining — EVEN if we don’t sign a replacement for Giroud (e.g., Remy).

I hesitate to say that because I think Wenger at. al read the blog and are finally now responding to our collective complaining and criticizing — wink, wink — but I would be genuinely happy about and proud of the squad for the first time in a while.

While I would still find it painful to look at/watch Giroud, I think I could actually bear it we were to add that kind of quality.

All the same, we still need better than him if we are to compete for the title.

  68. Nasri's Mouth

Bamford13: I hesitate to say that because I think Wenger at. al read the blog

    Please tell me you’re joking

  69. salparadisenyc

Only with Fifa would a club be found guilty of wrongdoings in the transfer market, thus banned from all incomings for year. Only to have it miraculously go by the wayside, plonk £75 million large down for a player a couple months later. On a player whose currently serving a ban of his own which willsurely be reduced in similar fashion to the larger clubs ban.

    Get in Sepp

  70. Northbanker

any pressure from blogs is very indirect
someone has read who has told someone who has told……….

  71. Northbanker

Still no news on Debuchy whats going on?
we need to be focusing on the other 2 needed signings ie back up keeper and DM

  72. Bamford13

Remy Cabella to Newcastle. Curious to see how he performs in the EPL. He dribbled circles around our players in the CL two years ago.

I don’t want to pay the £20 million for Khedira, I wanna pay the £30 million for Javi Martinez.

All signs pointing towards Sami, sure if we go in the glimmer twins will work a deal. That was in response to some lit shit tweeting a higher number more like 40 which was comedy.

Boys i’m off for the weekend, enjoy the footie!

Daily Mail says that talks with Loic Remy have broken down over his wages. Are they at all trustworthy? I feel like I’ve heard you all say that they’re not.

  76. N5

Bamford, apart from the time that Pedro wrote for them, they are completely untrustworthy. They are a right wing scare mongering newspaper that blame everything on immigrants and make shit up about everyone else.

Question for the Javi Martinez fans—

I haven’t seen him play a ton, but many of you seem to really like this guy.

    1. If you plugged him into the Germany XI in the last two WC games, would he do as much/show as well as Khedira has? My sense is he’s less dynamic, less productive with the ball.

    2. Did he start most games this season at Bayern? If not, is there reason to think he’s not quite all that some of you believe he is?

Khedira is a better fit for us than Martinez IMO. He has a better all round game. As he’s Ozils mate, it’s his likely destination. And would help Ozil too. They have a great understanding of each other’s play, so it just makes sense to me. Martinez is a good shout though.

How we might become something glorious: add Khedira now and Benteke in January, giving us—

That front three could make life very difficult for any defense in the world. That central three has steel, tackling, athleticism, technique and chemistry. The back four is adequate. We can improve that next summer.

I’m now beginning to think we should pass on Remy, and save that money to sign Benteke in January. We could use Podolski as our number two CF until January, Campbell as the number three.

We have plenty of wide players and Benteke has massive potential. A better investment, I think, than Remy. Let’s live with Giroud and Podolski as CF’s for a few months.

Plenty of talk on the Web from various sources that Di Maria has agreed personal terms with United. Also talk of Vidal going to United.

    Scary if true.

    Sami Khedira- Arsenal
    Paul Pogba- Real Madrid
    Di Maria- Man United
    James Rodriguez- Real Madrid
    Vidal- Man United
    Juventus- ?

Could see this happening and I presume that Juventus would use the Vidal money to buy somebody.

“Would Juventes let go off vidal or pogba?
    seriously doubt it.

well.. they might not sell both. but they may very well sel Pogba for 60m and cash in on him. they are cash strapped. so ideally selling Pogba would make more sense.

    I may be wrong though..

Stoked about the signing. Pumped to watch the new team with him in it. But we are still not able to win a trophy. Who is our best 11 vs top opposition. I mean Man C/Chelsea/Bayern/Barca.

Per is 1 year older. A great defender, but I worry if he and Kos can repeat their partnership this year. If we have Arteta and Per as the two men back, we will get torn a new one by any decent team on the counter. Not to mention Gibbs, who is genuinely a bad decision maker. He is an albatross and he is our best available left back.

On a 4-2-3-1 formation, we can now fill the front 4 positions, with Giroud at the top. But Giroud is not going to score more than 15 goals. Compare him with the top strikers at the other big clubs and we are deficient. The three behind him can be formidable, but will they be?. I would love to see Ozil, Sanchez, Walcott work out. But Ozil, Sanchez, Cazorla may be more practical because Ozil and Walcott are not that strong on the ball – trades a lot of pace for a lot of skill.

But our biggest problem is the 2 holding mids. Even if we buy Khediera (PLEASE), Ramsey or Jack can be stripped too easily and we get picked apart. Its a mistake that will happen over and over again with these guys.

I know most rate Ramsey as the next big thing, but I dont see how that is warranted. His goals last year were brilliant. But what is his position? Is hie in the front 4 or part of the holding pair. Jack has the same identity crisis. I simply cant see us competing on match day with the top clubs unless we develop a beast like midfield pair such as Vidal-Pogba. Otherwise the best we can hope for is to reduce the 6 goal thumpings to respectable 1 or 2 goal losses.

“Otherwise the best we can hope for is to reduce the 6 goal thumpings to respectable 1 or 2 goal losses.”

    Well said.. true..

Ramsey and the DMF has to have a very good understanding on when one goes front what the other should do…

We need a strong DMF, who can own the responsibiltiy of shielding the back 4 on his own.. I dont care if it is Khedira, or Bender or anybody as long as they have a good partnership with the guy next to him..

Why have they put the cunting World Cup final on a Sunday and at that time?

It’s on at 4am on a Monday morning here. I am seriously considering fucking it off entirely. Saturday would be doable, but Sunday? I’ll be in pieces all week at my age!
