Expensive right back landed

by .

Do the Wenger...

Arsenal are now nearly into the done deal territory on Debuchy. The French right back is coming in for a report £11m. Massive expense for a 29 year old (in a months time) and surely a helluva a lot more expensive than keeping the other French right back, but whatever. As far as I’m convened it’s like for like.

The concern is that squad wise, we’re like for like in last season. We didn’t have enough players to sustain a challenge last season and currently, we don’t have enough to sustain a challenge this season. I appreciate the World Cup is taking front and centre but at the same time, my eyes inform me other clubs are doing plenty of business.

As we speak, we’ve added no pace to our front line, no third choice centre back and no defensive midfield. I do hope Wenger isn’t shooting for the finish line again in the hope he’ll snare a mega bargain like Ozil.

We’ll see, panic stations don’t start until post Emirates Cup.

I think it’s quite sweet people think our business is waiting for a kit launch on Thursday. I also think it’s sweet that Puma are posting out teasers of what it might look like. It’s a bit like being given a teaser of a Christmas present with no wrapping paper.

HOOPED SOCKS. Puma are winning already. Also, I’ll have one to give away. JD sports said that’s cool. So I’ll think about a competition… maybe speedo related… even for the ladies.

I was forced to watch big brother the other day, I was told one of the girls on it was a hooker Wayne Rooney had dealt with.

Tasteful show… tasteful man.

This evening it’s mostly Brazil vs Germany on my mind. I hope Germany win because deep down, I believe I am probably part German. That belief stems from my love of Per Mertesacker. I also think Brazil are terribly clunky. I don’t think I’d have any joy watching Brazil lift the World Cup. To be honest, I don’t think any of the teams in the last 4 are particularly deserving. Which is a shame considering how incredible the tournament has been so far.

Anyway, good luck to the Arsenal boys!

It wouldn’t be transfer time without a Kalou story. This time from the Star:

EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal told the price for ex-Chelsea star Salomon Kalou has doubled

ARSENAL are weighing up a move for ex-Chelsea star Salomon Kalou – but have been told his price has doubled.

DOUBLE UP: Kalou is available for £5m this summer [GETTY]

Kalou was available for £2.5m in the last transfer window due to a clause in his contract.

But that no longer applies and French side Lille have slapped a £5m fee on the Ivory Coast striker.

Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham are also interested, along with Liverpool, Everton and Monaco.

Italian outfit Roma are understood to be ready to pay the £5m, but Kalou is keen to return to the Premier League, with Arsene Wenger’s Gunners his preferred option.

Kalou, 28 – who won the Champions League with Chelsea – has been a big success in France.

Last season he scored 16 goals for Lille and appeared in all three of his country’s games at the World Cup, where they went out at the group stage.

    Tomorrow—

    Netherlands 6 – 1 Argentina

Another crushing blow to South American football.

I’m kidding, of course, but today’s game has me wanting out of the predictions business.

I’d like to see Messi advance, but I fear without Di Maria, the European side might dominate the South American again, though Argentina are far more solid than Brazil.

    I really can’t say.

1 – 1 in regulation. No idea after that.

Jeff – I love you man, that post was spot on. Check out the Independent article which goes a good deal of a way to explain the type of player Ozil is.

This is not all to say that Ozil is infallible. There are things he has to improve on. But signings like Sanchez and Remy (?) will improve him too

i swear some of you are on here 24/7.

sounds like some were ripping into Ozil again. he’s definitely lost influence within the team to Kroos, but Germany right now look so balanced. that mid 3 of Schweinsteiger, Khedira & Kroos is utterly dominant. might not be the worst thing in the world for Ozil to play out wide for a while. there were still many beautiful touches from him last night.

Can’t believe Ozil is getting a bashing again. Yes there are areas he needs to improve on like scoring more and becoming more physical etc. But the guy is quality man.

All the news coming out today shows just how out of touch yesterday’s post was.

I thank the man for all the effort, but yesterday was schizophrenic at best.

Sounds like three players will be announced in the next 48hours, I.e. around shirt reveal time.

very happy. Already a miles better squad. Add bender or Schneiderlin and keep tv, and we have at least a fighting chance next season in all comps.
