Half striker the way forward?

by .

Jenko has a new house.

Jenko has a new house.

Jeez, there’s simply no consistent message at LG Towers, Geoff chimed in with his two pennies on Cesc.

Well I would have him back in a heartbeat. Why?

We always have half our midfield injured, that won’t change, ever under Wenger.

Fans and players would be massively lifted.

We would have the best first and second choice midfield since that great Barca team.

At least three of our midfield could slot in as defensive midfield, Cesc being one of them.

We’ll get him cheaper than ManU would and I would hate seeing him go there.

Add to that a winger like Draxler or Sanchez, a DM like Martinez and a right back like Coleman and we would clean up.

He won’t buy a Reus when he can get a cheap Remy.

He should get Griezman and offer to diss the Vela clause if they sell him cheaper.

Keeper I’m not fussed as they will only ever get Carling Cup/Fa Cup matches and anyone who signs as a number two won’t have much ambition anyway.

He won’t replace Chezzer and all the above he could get out of his budget.

You see, the thing with Cesc, is I’m not fussed either way. If he comes in, we’ve got a great player that we dont’ really need, if he doesn’t come in we’ll buy a great player we need. We can’t lose. Though Ballague has said that he’s been told by Arsenal that he’s not wanted now. Which is the logical move if Arsenal are keeping Cazorla, Ozil, Rosicky, Crowley, Zelalem… Diaby?

Anyway, we’re going big elsewhere. If no news has dropped on the name I’ve heard, I’ll share that next week. It’s a shame, because I’m assuming no noise means the deal is dead. But whatever, it’s a tantalising name regardless.

I’d imagine that Arsene is struggling with a big name striker. I’m expecting him to push for half strikers or to convert someone. It’ll be interesting to see if we look at Draxler or if any of the Barca wide player rumours are true.

I watched Griezman the other day for France. He scored a freekick that looked like a cross that slipped through. My concern with him is his tiny frame. We have so many small players and I’m not sure our league is suited to the height impaired in the same way La Liga is. That’s not to say small players can’t do a job, more that we have a lot of those already. I’d prefer a beast out wide over a tiny player.

We need to kick things up a gear transfer wise. People complain it’s only June, but look, we have a World Cup to contend with, we should be making things happen early. I really don’t want to be in the scrum for top players post World Cup with all the hype and all the reticence to spend more than players are worth that usually accompanies a Wenger transfer window. The thing that grates me about this whole transfer window is that Wenger is under no real pressure to purchase. He’ll not be KPI’d like a normal manager and he won’t feel the same burn to get business done. What he says goes. He won’t bow to fan or board level pressure.

Liverpool are out there making things happen already, Rodgers works to a different type of intensity. One which says, ‘I have to prove my value every second of this job’… I don’t get that from Arsene. If Wenger had to go into next season with no new signings, he wouldn’t be fussed. Bob Wilson said,

‘He works 24 hours a day’

Doing what exactly? I’d love to know. It can’t be looking at players, because he’s not exactly brimming with solutions? Tactics? Worrying about injuries? I’m not sure. Reckon our manager is cheating his times sheets.

Anyway, let’s look to the positives. We’ve been trying to make certain deals happen. I just don’t know what the plan is if those plans don’t come of. Why would I know? I wouldn’t. So I don’t know why I’m trying to be a control freak about Arsenal because I control nothing.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could work for a football club? What a great laugh that’d be.

‘Pete, what are you doing on Youtube?’

‘Scouting players boss’

‘Nice work son. Here’s a raise.’

That’d be sweet. No more cat videos for me. Real time wasting.

Also, before I go, a few people asked in the comments how I could go to wanting Cesc to not wanting him.

I don’t know why I have to explain changing my mind. But hey, I change my mind. When I first heard the rumour, I was out and about… and I was all like, ‘wow, that shit’d be whack if it happened’… then I had a think about it. I thought, well, there are a lot of holes that need to be filled before we move for a player like Cesc. Also, as someone pointed out yesterday, he’d actually cost us £45m if you take his sell on clause into account.

… and that’s the thing with blogging. I change my mind. If you don’t ever change your mind. Brilliant. If the first thought you have on something is always the last. That’s fine. I’m sure you’re super interesting and dynamic. I’ll go back and forth, which might feel inconsistent, but for me, that’s the point of blogging and conversation. You explore every angle, you take on other views and refine and evolve your opinion over time. If I didn’t do that… this would be a f*cking monotonous read every day.

Maybe it is? But if it is. Don’t tell me. It makes me well up inside and cry at my desk.

‘JohnLuvsPancakes54 just told me I was a massive spunk bucket! I can’t take it anymore’

…I’ll regularly wail at my desk.

… but just as a heads up, I don’t write posts worrying that there might be an inconsistent view point from last year.

Anyway. Have a great day. Or, maybe don’t. I’m not sure what I want for you. x

    FUCKING FIRST!! lol

End of a curse == >> FA Cup trophy.

Begining of a new one == >> 3 more years of le senile one.

    Your comment here.

  2. Nickie

The news that Aurier is talking to another English club is very worrying. I’d be annoyed if we didn’t get him

  3. Romford Pele

“The news that Aurier is talking to another English club is very worrying. I’d be annoyed if we didn’t get him”

Yep Liverpool have entered the race if reports are to believed. Just secure the deal!

  4. Dr.K

I still think we should bring Cesc back. And I’m not sure the £45m is correct. My understanding of the contract is that we get 50% of all above £25m, as was in the papers when we sold him. And I think we need him more than we know. Just youtube “cesc fabregas the pass master” and you know why we miss him so much

  5. Doyindav

    Nice Post Pedro.
I agree with you concerning Cesc, pushing Ozil wide is wasting a player and if it’s rotation, who gets to start the big games as #10.

Do we have to go over how we got Ozil in the first place?

And a lot of other points, I’m really not interested in mentioning.

What is the deal with Aurier? Does Arsene not like him anymore? Is he waiting for Another Messi that plays RB?
His agent just said that they have no deal in place with us and they are in talks with another PL side.

Could be agent talk true to hasten a deal but I sense they are ready to take another offer if We dont come through.

  6. Nickie

Seems as though we haven’t made any contact in a while. Wenger should not let Aurier slip. Suppose if liverpool get him we could take Johnson…..FUCK THAT

  7. AC Gooner

And here is how it’s going to go down:

Wenger and Cesc love each other – we all know that.

All this talk of Manu, Chelski, Liverpuds – its all a cunning scheme to fuck with them. Make them waste their time and efforts during the transfer window, they think they are going to get Cesc Fabregas!

Only to be bitterly disappointed at the end when he comes home to the home of football. All their scouts, lawyers, negotiators, directors of football will be so crushed, they wont even be able to answer their i-phones, let alone MAKE a fucking call on their own.

We winning the league this coming season, bitches! And its going to be Cesc, Remy, and a new DM helping us do it.

I say we should take Song back too.

  8. Jamie England

I’d happily take Cesc back.. but i’m not sure if its predominantly because i don’t want him at United/City/Chavs… I do think he can play anywhere in midfield… which is a massive + I’d bring him back..

Keep seeing we’re in for Crazy Mario.. any truth in that..? Surely not, tones of talent, completely mental… Arsene couldn’t handle him.. he can barely handle Giroud smashing his way through half of London prior to match day.. imagine how long he’d drop Mario for when he starts doing crazy sh*t, he’d never make his debut…

Can’t think of took many wingers who could honestly be desctibed as a “beast” there all pretty tiny.. maybe Juan Cuadrado, the “half breeds” your talking about are all pretty light weight too.. i think Griezmann’s so quick it doesnt matter too much, he’d adapt physically.. just look at Cazorla.. tiny guy, played in Spain his whole career, comes to England and within 6 months is hacking down Yaya Toure..

    Pedro

I wrote this morning a post on your last thread analysing realistic incoming transfers on positions we need to fill without names.

Arsenal’s first team squad this season had 28 players including 5 who are
definitely leaving and another 3 [Miyaichi,Zelalem and Diaby] who rarely
played. Assuming that we bring in upgraded players in DM and striker do
we actually need a squad of that size or can it be reduced to say 25 or 26?

My view is that Wenger will not buy more than 4 players in transfer window
with just one big spend. Big spend means a fee of £20 million+

He may send out on loan some of younger players and replace them with Martinez [3rd string GK] and Campbell [FW] if he performs in World Cup or
    pre season friendlies.

Personally I don’t see him selling or replacing any other established players
    unless they ask to leave.

Like you I want to see movement in transfer market now and not just sitting on backside until World Cup ends and many of players will then tootle off on
    holiday with further delays likely.

Wenger and the club management need to be more ruthless and decisive if
we are going to secure the best players in market to meet our requirements.

  10. Josip Skoblar

According to various French media, we’re apparently after 21-year old striker Jean Christophe Bahebeck from PSG on a free… Santa misericordia…

  11. Bergkamplegend

What’s the problem with Aurier ???

Everyone is in panic because we might fail – not the first time, not the last – to sign him ??
He’s right to consider other options.

But don’t worry, the fact that le senile one has extend his contract will help him to decide to sign for us. 😉

  12. Romford Pele

“According to various French media, we’re apparently after 21-year old striker Jean Christophe Bahebeck from PSG on a free… Santa misericordia…”

    *sighs*

  13. Bergkamplegend

@Nickie, like so many other fans, once again you fell into the wenger trap.

So naives to think he will start to make bids before the start of the World Cup.
So naives to think that wenger has changed…

  14. Nickie

Not naive but the bloke himself said he was coming Arsenal lol. I don’t think we will making a signing before the WC. Wenger even said himself expect nothing until after the WC. I’m being patient lol

  15. Carts

We’ve ‘rinsed’ the Cesc talk enough. I reports pertain to be true, he’ll be a Chelsea player in a matter of weeks.

*Dem thru ballz to Costa tho :/

I’m boy having the Bony shouts at all. If he’s a step up on Giroud, it isn’t really a massive one that a team like Arsenal require

  16. Romford Pele

“I reports pertain to be true, he’ll be a Chelsea player in a matter of weeks.”

It’d actually be the worst club he’d move to. He’d be lowered further in the sights of Barca fans while Arsenal fans would lose all affection for him. I’d prefer he went to United or City tbh.

  17. Iain

I heard a whisper from a gent that seems to have a source for these things (he was right on Giroud and Flamini) it was a certain Mr Falcao that had caught Wengers eye. He however- would be UBER expensive for a 28 yr old with no sell on value so it is most likely horse sh@t. Sadly…

  18. Bergkamplegend

“I’d prefer he went to United”

    Wow…
So van pussy + cesc in a yoonited shirt
You are right, we will be so delighted LOL

  19. Savage

Nobody has mentioned that we’re going to need 2 new keepers, not one. AFAIK, Viviano was a one season loan. I guess the whole Damian Martinez thing didn’t work out?

  20. gambon

Griezzman is a limited player, no doubt.

Not great on the ball, doesnt dribble. He plays the same way as Theo, off the ball runs and shoots a lot.

I would be all for a “half striker”. Ronaldo and Reus have done excellent jobs for their clubs, being the main man from a non-central position.

That said, if you look at Real and Dortmund, they also ave far far better central strikers alongside their wide geniuses, and they have still not been hugely successful these last 2 seasons.

Wenger will do what he always does, spend a little money, buy a few players, but leave us miles short to win the PL.

Forget the CL, it will be years before we can compete.

  21. Bergkamplegend

What the fans MUST understand == >> this new contract, it’s like a new begining for Le senile one!!
So his goal is, once again (LOL) == >> the rebuilding a team of youngsters, for preparing the future of the AFC!!

    Not funny ??

  22. gambon

“Talking of half-strikers, any chance of Cesc as a half-striker? He did it at Barca.”

    No, just no!

I think hes a better number 10 than Ozil though.

  23. Biggles

I see that Dortmund signed Immobile.

Oh well, that’s another name to scratch off the list. I don’t pretend to know very much about him, but he was top scorer in Serie A last year, so he was a name that came up in pub conversations.

  24. sam

See no reason why cesc and ozil couldn’t play like nasri/silva play for city when they have 2 up top.

wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see us line up 442 next year more often, be it with a diamond, flat line, or 2 infront of 2.

  25. sam

  26. Romford Pele

How ITK is Adrian Clarke guys? I know he presents The Breakdown on Arsenal player but not much outside that.

    His wishlist:

    Aurier
    Pogba/Martinez/Bender/Schneiderlin

Interestingly he reckons we’ll go for two forwards; Remy and one of Benzema/Mandzukic/Super Mario/Sanchez

Doesn’t think Cesc will happen because of Wilshere.

  27. gambon

Dortmund lose LEwandowski and they have Immobile and Ramos signed before July.

We will come back to pre-season training in July with absolutely no-one new.

  28. Romford Pele

It really shouldn’t be that tough this summer. Commercial deals tied down; key players locked into long-term deals, better stability etc.

It’s about getting rid of the last bit of deadwood, streamlining the squad and adding the necessary quality.

    Szcz, GK, Martinez
    RB, Jenkinson, Bellerin
    Kos, Mert, Verm, CB
    Gibbs,Monreal
    DM, Arteta/Flamini
    Ramsey Wilshere
    Theo, Ox,Gnabry
    Ozil, Santi, TR7
Poldi, Ox, Santi (possible wide forward)
    ST, L’Oreal, Sanogo

  29. Savage

The one thing Cesc always did that I’ve missed so much is making space to receive the ball. It’s so often that Arteta/Kos/Mert are looking to pass and can’t find anyone. I think partly that Mertescaker doesn’t have enough confidence in his passing ability, but still, Cesc would find the space and trap and protect as well as anyone in the game.

Wilshere is decent in this respect, but he doesn’t release quick enough, meaning he either gets a bruising, or depending on the mood of the ref, creates an opposition counter attack.

  30. gambon

    Dortmund have signed:

Immobnile, Ramos, Aubemeyang, Reus, Mykhitaryan in the last few seasons.

Thats pretty impressive for a club with nowhere near our resources.

We’ve been looking at cunts like Park, Sanogo and a £42m playmaker that doesnt look up to it.

  31. Ashwin Gunner

    oooo Pedro is pissed… 🙂
    Pedro

No body questioned you why you changed your mind. People here were just wondering why you might not want him anymore.. 🙂 And as it looks the Cesc deal is off. Aurier deal is precariously placed as Liverpool has entered into the fray. And nothing is happening on loads of other players we have been linked with. So……. its going to be a long long summer. Thanks to World cup. we would have somethign else to think about in this dim period.

3 years more…….. and finally we will be liberated………..

  32. Romford Pele

Yeah despite Lewandowski going, Dortmund have actually improved their team and added depth. With a fit squad next year:

    Weidenfeller
    Piszcesk Subotic Hummels Schmelzer
    Bender Gundogan
    Aubameyang Mkhitarayn Reus
    Immobile

Bench will have the likes of Sahin, Kehl,Grosskreutz, Blaszczkowskyi, Ramos, Jojic, Hoffman, Friedrich. Lot stronger with more depth. You can tell he really wants to tackle Pep head-on

  33. carts

I don’t care where Cesc ends up, if I’m honest. The fact there’s little chance him signing for us has me losing minimal sleep.

  34. gambon

    Cant see it being Cavani.

Dont think Wenger will go for someone already on mega wages.

It will more likely be a Reus or Benzema type IMO, someone thats top class but who would be getting a big payrise if we offer £150k pw.

  35. DUIFG

I heard a whisper from a gent that seems to have a source for these things (he was right on Giroud and Flamini) it was a certain Mr Falcao that had caught Wengers eye. He however- would be UBER expensive for a 28 yr old with no sell on value so it is most likely horse sh@t. Sadly…

I would love this to be true, who cares really, wenger is onb a 3yr deal, falcao will still only be 31, prime, if he wants trophys he needs a finshher of this caliber

  36. Max85

Don’t want Cesc, but don’t want any other Prem team to have him – sentimentality aside, he would improve their teams significantly more than he would improve ours.

Dream scenario would be for PSG to get him, then realise they’d spunked nearly £100m on 2 players when they’re already in the FFP bad books… then proceed to sell us Cavani for £45m.

  37. carts

“We will come back to pre-season training in July with absolutely no-one new.”

I have no doubt that this will be the case. I just find it hard to believe that Wenger has a genuine structure in place.

Dortmund example is proof of what a good management structure can do. These times, you gave Wenger talking shite about a lack of options pre-WC

  38. gambon

“You can tell he really wants to tackle Pep head-on”

Yeah, but i feel he has no chance.

Bayern just have better players everywhere across the pitch.

Reus is the only Dortmund player they would genuinely be jealous about.

  39. Max85

Hmm, Falcao a risk for me. Leaving aside whether we could afford his wages (300k euros a week, tax free at Monaco), he’s 28 and coming off an ACL injury. If we’re going to spend £40m+ on a striker it should be Cavani.

  40. Moray

    A tantilising name, Pedro?

Like Cavani?…Stefan Cavani. 21 year old plays for Lille.

OrRibery?…Paul Ribery. 18 year old talent with a broken back from Montpellier.

We have to be realistic here. Wenger just signed a threee year deal. There is no way he will be bullied into buying anything he doesn’t want now. I really can;t see anything coming in over about 12-13m. If we accept that, then we won;t be disappointed come the end of the window. If you really want to know who we will sign then look at freebies like Ashley Cole or Eto’o or bargains like Khadera.

  41. carts

It became apparent at the turn of the year that Aubamayang had slipped into the ‘squad player’ bracket. Having watched quite a bit of Auba’, he’s actually quite rash and a tad cumbersome

  42. gambon

The problem with Wenger is hes so reactionary its stupid.

He basis his toughts on a player on what happened in the last game.

If a player lets him down 25 times in a row, then scores a goal, the only thing he remembers is the goal.

In fact I have no doubt that if Park had scored trhe winner in the FA Cup final he would now have a new 5 year contract.

He doesnt make proactive, squad strengthening purchases cos he keeps changing his mind on what we actually need.

You can picture him in his office at London Colney, on the phone to Real madrid, negotiating for Benzema, then he looks out of the window and sees Sanogo score a tap in during training, and so he just hangs the phone up.

  43. Romford Pele

“Bayern just have better players everywhere across the pitch.”

True, Reus is the true WC player in Dortmund’s team, maybe Hummels too. But still, consistency is the main aim of the game here. Dortmund suffered badly because of injuries but they’ve still had standout results this season:

    Dortmund-Real 2-0
    Bayern-Dortmund 0-3
    Dortmund-Bayern 5-2

They’ll essentially always be fighting a losing battle since Bayern are a monumental club but I don’t think it’s impossible to bridge the gap.

  44. carts

“You can picture him in his office at London Colney, on the phone to Real madrid, negotiating for Benzema, then he looks out of the window and sees Sanogo score a tap in during training, and so he just hangs the phone up.”

    Genuine LOLZ

  45. Keyser

Dortmund sign Immobile – Klopps a Genius.

We’ve had Immobile up front for two seasons – Wengers a C**t

  46. Bergkamp63

“You see, the thing with Cesc, is I’m not fussed either way. If he comes in, we’ve got a great player that we dont’ really need”

“if Arsenal are keeping Cazorla, Ozil, Rosicky, Crowley, Zelalem… Diaby?”

We don’t really need ? just bin this lot of average players and get Cesc back at half the wages these are costing us !

  47. DUIFG

Can well imagine this, never bolsters in advance or to head off problems, has to wait until every man and his dog is screaming to change it

  48. Pollux

I watched the Japan vs Costa Rica game to take a good look at Joel Campbell.
That lad played a full 80mins or so and seriously, he is crap.

I shudder to think if our replacement for bendtler is this joel campbell.

We really do need big names. Reus for me today, tomorrow and everyday till end of transfer window.

  49. Bergkamplegend

“Oh well, that’s another name to scratch off the list.”

Not the first, not the last lol

And please guys, stop posting like if you were surprised by wenger’s (non-)recruitment methods FFS!!

  50. Romford Pele

“. . . or it could be balo.”

I mean it could be; Wenger has never hidden his admiration for Balo. As far back as 2009, he spoke about how awesome he could be. But then you remember what a nutcase this 23 year-old is. He’s had endless chances to sort him out. The harsh-type Mourinho didn’t work, the father figure Mancio didn’t work. I don’t see what Wenger would do differently.

Look how much trouble Mario caused in Manchester; imagine what would happen if you let him loose in the capital!

  51. karaul

True. This Dormund team looks great. Still think they should add few names.

They´re still short in their back up defense and one great signing for attack would make them more than able to compete with Bayern

  52. Ashwin Gunner

“Please not another day of Cesc chat. It’s been going on for ages now”

Yea.. the more I hear about it the more i get pissed taht he is going to wear our rivals shirt while Wenger will be busy feeding his dog…

For that matter i get pisssed reading newspapers on how we are going to miss on our targets and or rivals have already started doing business.

    Aurier
    Caulker/Howedes
    Schneiderlin/Gustavo/Martinez/Fernando
    Pedro/Sanchez/Tello/Di Maria
    Benzema/Bony/Cavani

If we went for the lower scale of those players, there’s no reason why:

    Aurier
    Caulker
    Schneiderlin
    Tello
    Bony

Couldn’t get wrapped up in no time at all. Purely hypotherical of course. Wenger has a strange way of assessing and recruiting.

  55. gambon

The annoying thing is that we’ve had a real opportunity to catch up with the teams at the top. Last summer and this summer was a huge opporunity and we’re gonna blow it.

Man Utd lost their manager of 26 years and replaced with a vastly inferior one. City and Chelsea had new managers and Chelsea failed to sign an all important striker.

And now you look at it, we have huge cash reserves and the ability to sign almost any player.

Yet we are sitting on our hands.

We wont have this opportunity again, as Chelsea will have their world class striker, City are settled and wont have the dreadful away form issues that they had at the start of the season, and now Liverpool have an extra £40m of CL money plus more commercial money, which brings them close to us financially.

Not to mention that we will struggle to stay ahead of UTD for long due to their huge financial superiority.

  56. Cornelius Lawrence

    Good morning chaps,

Slightly overcast somewhat, yet a little stuffy?

Young Fabregas eh, I am bored of this already. Nothing much to add other than great if we rejoins but I have a feeling he will not. I am more intrigues by the the malaise over at the Camp Nou – what on earth is going on over there, not a happy ‘camp’ at the moment.

Pedro – with the greatest of respect, I doubt you telling us the name of this mystery footballer will scupper any potential deal etc. Surely you are not that important within the transfer sphere of Arsenal Football Club? I could be wrong. In other words, spill it dear boy.

Right, have a lovely day, off to the National.

  57. gambon

“For that matter i get pisssed reading newspapers on how we are going to miss on our targets and or rivals have already started doing business.”

Being honest I highly doubt we have any targets.

If you were to break into Wengers office and find his transfer file, it would probably just be a portrait of Abou Diaby, and page after page of the phrase “WHY DO YOU LOOK AT ME” written in different styles.

  58. Bergkamplegend

gambon : “The annoying thing is that we’ve had a real opportunity to catch up with the teams at the top”

Not the first real opportunity, and unfortunately not the last lol

  59. Keyser

Yeah most of that’s rubbish really, our best player last season was Ramsey we signed him about 6 years ago.

This Cesc Fabregas stuff is going to be annoying, the same people who will have said we don’t really need Ozil will be going loopy at why we haven’t signed him back to add ‘Squad depth’.

It’s going to be hilarious if he goes to Chelsea, ‘I’m home, Chelsea DNA, Mourinho’s my sort of manager, in the end I’ll always do what Barcelona tell me’.

@Cornelius, don’t be so sure Mr. Lawrence. I think Pedro’s day job is being Cavani’s agent.

Have a good time at the National.

  61. Ashwin Gunner

“If you were to break into Wengers office and find his transfer file, it would probably just be a portrait of Abou Diaby, and page after page of the phrase “WHY DO YOU LOOK AT ME” written in different styles.”

    ha ha ha… LOL

I wish somebody sends this comment to Wenger. I want him to know how low we think of him. May be that will trigger him to either quit and get lost or show some guts and buy players…

  62. Bergkamplegend

@gambon, here’s the famous “WHY DO YOU LOOK AT ME ?” in different languages lol

    “Pourquoi me regardez-vous ?”
    “Warum willst du mich ansiehst?”
    “Per què em mires?”
    “Proč se na mě?”
    “你为什么看我?”
    “Perché mi guardi?”… lol

  63. N5

“it would probably just be a portrait of Abou Diaby, and page after page of the phrase “WHY DO YOU LOOK AT ME”

    Loooooooooooool.

“It’s going to be hilarious if he goes to Chelsea, ‘I’m home, Chelsea DNA,”

    Double Looooooooooooool.

  64. Ashwin Gunner

“Not the first real opportunity, and unfortunately not the last lol”

definitely not the last one.. we just have to wait for 3 more years for another oppurtunity to knock.

According to various French media, we’re apparently after 21-year old striker Jean Christophe Bahebeck from PSG on a free…
    Santa misericordia…

Nothing can separate Wenger from free so i believe this rumour.

  66. carts

    “Pourquoi me regardez-vous ?”
    “Warum willst du mich ansiehst?”
    “Per què em mires?”
    “Proč se na mě?”
    “你为什么看我?”
    “Perché mi guardi?”… lol

    Pahaha

  67. Dony

whoa, wait a second…Klopp signs a 24 yr old Italian International and leading scorer from Serie A?

I thought Wenger said it wasn’t possible to buy people this early in a transfer window, especially in a World Cup year…I’m sure Wenger is on the case. You know he almost signed Ronaldo, Hazard, Suarez, etc…

  68. F4phantomphreak

Just a quick question to those that know the Arsenal youth, Thomas Eisfeld, is he not going to make it? From what I’ve seen of him he looks like a good MF, but hey what do I know?

  69. Bergkamplegend

“Chelsea will try to sign Barcelona’s former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas to replace the departing Frank Lampard.”
    Ooooopppppsssssssss…

“Arsenal, Newcastle and West Ham have been told they will have to pay £19m if they want Swansea’s 25-year-old striker Wilfried Bony.”
== >> too expensive for the great tightwad lol

  70. N5

“There’s another 3 years of this shit, those who thought he would change are pricks”

    Well that esculated quickly.

  71. Bergkamplegend

Arsene nose best : “There’s another 3 years of this shit, those who thought he would change are pricks”

    Old habbits die hard lol

  72. gambon

    F4phantom

    No, Eisfeld has no chance.

He cant break out of the reserves and is now 21 and a half years old. He scores some goals but otherwise is completely anonymous. He will likely play in a lower division than the PL or Budesliga.

Yet another pointless kid brought in.

And now we’re looking at another young french striker to go with the joke that is Sanogo.

Wenger is just a twat, hes like Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber when he goes out to buy the essentials and comes back with all sorts of shit.

  73. N5

@F4phantomphreak, from what i’ve seen it’s highly unlikely. He is average at best.

Then again, I though Chuba would make it and he’s been superseeded for a young French freebie, so god knows what goes on in Wengers mind.

  74. Romford Pele

Ugh Eisfeld – his German compatriot is three years younger and has already accumulated more EPL appearances than he ever will

  75. DUIFG

Bony is a massive upgrade on OG but not in terms of the global striker market. Bony is the fall back option, lets exlplore other avenues first.

  76. carts

    F4phantomphreak

I think he’s a neat player; similarly to Olsson. But word is he (Eisfeld) apparently goes missing a lot

Honestly, though, I don’t think Wenger has much belief with the youth these days.

When you look at the ones who’ve come through, it’s very few and far between, especially when you consider the resource we direct toward these kids.

  77. Bergkamplegend

It will be interesting to see cesc’s final destination…

Remember his words when he left ?
    “Once a Gunner, always a Gunner” ?

Very interesting to see the fans reaction if he went back to the Emirates under another shirt…
And if he choose to go to another big english club, we will be fixed about his so called “loyalty”

  78. Wengaball

    A footballer named Immobile.

“And Immobile gets the ball…Immobile charging through…Immobile goes past one, two, three players…left rooted to their spots…they all seem totally Immobilised….”

  79. The Poldi Prince

Isn’t there some serious questions about falcao’s real age? I would stay well clear of a geriatric coming off a serious knee injury for half his price (which would still be more than most of the names touted)

  80. Dissenter

Would you guys take Bony on for 19 million.
Bony will score twice the goals as Giroud in an Arsenal shirt.
He does EVERYTHING better than Giroud; heads the ball, passes, is faster and can hold the ball against two defenders easily.
The only drawback is that he’ll be gone for six weeks in the winter and might come back with Malaria, every two years.

Bony is like a keg of Gunpowder waiting to explode.

  81. N5

What is it with players lying about their age.

Bloody Eto’o is 63, Falcao is mid 40s and there was that “18” year old African kid that looked 40.

  82. Bamford13

“If you were to break into Wengers office and find his transfer file, it would probably just be a portrait of Abou Diaby, and page after page of the phrase “WHY DO YOU LOOK AT ME” written in different styles.”

Brilliant. You have me in stitches this morning, gambon.

  83. Bergkamplegend

“How the hell would he cope with baloteli ?”

Honestly that could be hilarious to watch lol

  84. The Poldi Prince

Cesc would allow proper rotation in our midfield (something we cry out for) and assist when we inevitably have a January injury pile up.

the other worry is, how long will ozil put up with playing with giroud?

All the idiots calling for ozil to leave are flogs. If he didnt have to play with two ligue 2 strikers we would see his real skill.

Definitely room for both of them and ramsey. I hate this notion of ‘playing on the wing’. We often played with three or four CAMs, and they all interchange. Makes for more interesting and varied build up play..

  85. Bergkamplegend

N5 : don’t you know that wenger has lying about his age before signing his new contract ???

  86. DUIFG

My only issue with bony is that he is fairly agricultural in respect of hsi touch sometimes, could get exposed against the very best teams. cant argue with the rest though, insane strength, heading and shot make for a package. not massively quick though, ehw ill need support from the flanks, but unlike OG he will win all his duels, without question.

  87. Bergkamplegend

“How the hell would he cope with baloteli ?”

Wenger is “too old for this shit” lol

  88. Dissenter

    N5,
Too early in the morning to be funny.

Etoo is not 63 years old. He was a progidy picked up early by Spanish clubs.
I saw his pictures at the 1994 World Cup with all the baby fat on his face. He’s no older that he claims to be.

The red flag is when a player who has played in the local domestic league for 6 years drives in Europe and still claims to be 18 years old.

  89. carts

    Poldi

I agree; the evidence that come out looked quite strong.

Then again, you’re only as old as you feel

  90. gambon

We really arent a good advert for the Academy System. All we do is sign endless foreign kids and give few chances to local kids.

And its not like this is a successful method, we are terrible at youth level.

  91. Ash79

    LADS!

Not sure why all the hate if Cesc leaves Barca and doesnt join us? If Barca sell him, the man has to find a home. If AW doesnt snap him up then that isnt Cesc’s fault.

Anyways i’ve said before id lilke him back but I refuse to idolise him, man cunted us off pretty bad last time. Atleast Robin had the minerals to pull up Ivan and Wenger. What people are not talking about is WHY is Cesc being pushed? whats happened over there at that holier than thou club? (i love it, catalan cunts).

  92. Dissenter

I really think Bony will be perfect for Arsenal.
He will force his way out of Swansea should a big club come knocking.

I was just watching some of his shots and headers at goal. They were like lazer beams. He’s only going to get better. He can come in from the bench to change games and his wages can’t be above 60-80k weekly.

  93. gambon

I dont think you can trust the age of pretty much any of these players from Africa.

I was reading an article on it recently and its hilarious how dodgy it all is.

  94. Romford Pele

    “holier than thou club”

Lol I love how they paint that image. They’re no worse than Real Madrid tbh.

  95. Keyser

We’ve actually done pretty well youth player wise, definetly in terms o giving young players a chance.

  96. N5

Joseph Minaka is supposed to be 17 and Lazio will sue anyone who prints different. Lol.

He looks like a 40 year old at the minimum. George Weah looks younger.

  97. carts

    Gambon

I hope that gets loked into. There’s been a few kids that we fought to acquire, only for them to fall by the way-side 3 years later.

We give out pro deals and most of these kids aren’t even makinbg the bench for the duration of their contracts.

With that said, I don’t think many teams in the EPL, in this day and age, give that much opportunities to their kids.

Liverpool seem to have brought through Flanagan and Sterling. Utd gave strange cameo roles to those couple kids againt Norwich. But in all, there’s nothing substantial to talk about.

  98. gambon

“What are your thoughts about Bony.”

OK player, Giroud level, which has been the problem for us.

Ask yourself this…..would Bayern, Madrid, Man City go after Boney? No…..because you’ll never win the CL with Bony upfront.

We need an Aguero, Suarez, RVP level player, not a Bony.

Like Remy, I would take him to replace Giroud, but we have enough to do this summer that we cant really be replacing OK squad players.

  99. Romford Pele

Nah the worst one is Ahmed Musa at CSKA. Look at the bone structure of his face and try and tell me he’s 21.

  100. Arsene's Nurse

In 2 years time Rosicky, Flamini, Arteta and probably Cazorla and Diaby (he’ll break and contract is up next year) will no longer be Arsenal players.

I guarantee people will be bitching because we didn’t buy Cesc for peanuts as he’s banging them in and assisting like crazy for the mancs.

  101. Romford Pele

Carts, I think Liverpool paid quite a bit for Sterling if I remember correctly. Well worth the money though.

  102. Thank you and goodnight

    @gambon
A lot of kurds in the mountainous regions of Turkey and Iran don’t register there children’s births till a number of years after. Some do it so that they avoid national service, others because government rule is very lax in those parts of the world as is hospitals etc. Don’t know if that’s same reasons some of the Africans do the same but it wouldn’t surprise me. But if dissenter Is saying he is 33 then who’s to say he isn’t. In my opinion though, eto looks more like someone in his late 30 ‘ s.

  103. Dissenter

You have to admire the Liverpool transfer machine.

Brendan Rogers is yet to meet the new signing, Rickie Lambert. The club transfer apparatus handled everything from A-Z.
The lad does not know what his role will be. He’s talking crap though, he’s the direct approach tool they probably need.

  104. N5

As bored as I am of the ‘would you/wouldn’t you’ Cesc conversation.

Is it 100% Cesc is leaving then, has anything official been said by Barca or has this all come from BBC’s supposed ITK reporter?

  105. carts

    R.S.P.C.A

I havre no doubt in my mind that over the next 3 years, we’ll see next to nothing on Crowley. I know Crowley, himself, will have to develop outside of the realms of football. But I just don’t think Wenger knows where to go with the youth players.

Considerinbg all the CB we’ve tried to develop, not one has turned out to be good enough,

Crowley at Liverpool, following in the foot steps of Flanagan, Ibe and Sterling could reach his potentials. At Arsenal, I’m very pessimistic.

  106. Bergkamplegend

“You have to admire the Liverpool transfer machine.”

You have to admire any other “transfert machines” than the AFC’s one.

  107. Keyser

People are going to bitch anyway, I can just imagine when he’s sitting on the bench complaining about game-time or if he’s not quite the same as he used to be, you’ll get comments about him being mis-managed.

  108. Dissenter

    gambon,
Yep, I knew you were going to say that. You’ve stayed true to yourself.

The problem is the calibre of Aguero, Suarez, RVP are not going to be available this season.mi think we need to clear that from our heads.
There might be an emerging elite striker from the World Cup, with reasonable European stats. That will be a risky signing because of the lack of premier league experience.
