Last day of the season (sad violin playing in background)

It’ll be a quick one today because I need to get out on the rip early. It’s the last home game of the season.

… it’s moments like these that put spare time into perspective. One minute you’re having all the fun, not having to worry about spare time. Then the next, someone taps you on the shoulder, you look round and it’s family, or friends, or girlfriends…

‘Seeing as you’re not doing anything next Saturday, would you mind…’

You don’t have an excuse now.

Arsenal is over for you.

You have to mix with people who might not want to talk about football.

There is no excuse to drink 6 pints on a Tuesday anymore.

There’s no reason to start boozing at 1130.

This is where the summer gets serious. It’s really sad. Today I’ll be heading to the game in a black armband.

Still, there are many things to celebrate if you’re into things like top 4.

We’re top four! Everton were turned over by Manchester City in an exciting game at the Etihad, which means they can’t catch us. We’ve qualified, Wenger has done the bare minimum in the league again, so everyone will be happy and we can look forward to a similar fight for fourth next season.

Cardiff and Fulham are relegated. To be honest, with Fulham, I’m kind of pleased they’re down now. I know they’ve a lot of history, but they’re such an uninteresting team. Totally pointless really. I only found out a few weeks ago that they have quite a substantial neutral section in there ground. Cheerio to them. I wonder how long it’ll be before we see them again? Cardiff? Well, who cares about them. They’ve got a bat shit crazy owner and his tinkering cost them heavily.

On todays game. It’s a chance for Wenger to showcase some talent if he chooses. I hope we play hard for the last game. Getting to 79 points is symbolic in some way. I mean, I know people think more points is a sign of improvement, however, that does negate the fact that the opportunity to win this season was greater beacause so many teams were in a state of flux. Anyway, whatever, it’s more points.

Right, that’s all I’ve got. Have an amazing day if you’re there. Have an amazing day if you’re sat behind a TV. Have an amazing day if you’ve accidentally stumbled onto this site looking for information on an Asian apartment firm.

Also, remember to follow me on Instagram if you want to see the final day play out on pictures. Also follow me on Twitter… witness daily, the trolling that occurs, and then again witness the finesse in which I bat back with hilarious retorts.

SEE YOU LATER START DRINKING BEER RIGHT NOW!

x

P.S. Dennis Bergkamp working for Spurs? Sad thing is, he’s was a Spurs fan as a kid. His agent asked Sugar if he was interested before signing for us. Hard pill to swallow. But a realistic one.

    A wild Troll appears.

Le Grove blogger uses; facts and reason.

    Wild Troll is confused.
    —————————————————-
I’ve been playing the South Park ‘Stick of Truth’ game which is hilarious, so you’ll forgive me for the following.

AKB Troll 1: We’ve stormed the mighty fortress of Le-grove! To battle!
AKB Troll 2: Indeed our Untold clan will vanquish all before!
    Le-Grove: What ever douche bags.
AKB Troll 1: (Drinks Arsene’s water bottle power up) Behold my power. [uses “Bow of the handbrake” and unleashes 3 arrows: oil money, injury crisis and biased refs toward Le-grove.

Attack fails as arrows bounce off Le-grove’s “cloak of boredom”.

AKB troll 2: (Invoke 4th place trophy power). Huzzah! Now you shall see the one true path! [Attacks using Diaby’s crutch with +2 mental strength]. Take that!

Attack fails – Diaby’s crutch is as frail and weak as Diaby!

Le-grove: [uses Peroni bottle of smiting with + 1 Germanic boobies] Invokes facts backed by references and analysis.

Kaaaaazam! The AKB trolls have been crit for 99% of their life!

AKB Troll 1: We are done for!
AKB Troll 2: No, there is but one last hope. Help us Mr Wenger, you are our only hope!
AKB Troll 1: Release the hand brake! Gather the mental strength! He’s like a new signing!
AKB Troll 2: All hail the lord and master for he can do no wrong! By the power of Franny Jeffer’s I summon thee!

A huge smoke cloud appears along with a crack of thunder: Wenger appears!

Wenger: Who are you looking at? I have made 50,000 substitutions and I shall vanquish the doubters! I shall throw open my coat and flap my arms destroying all before me with my sustainability power!

    [unzips Nike coat of puffiness]

Wenger: What? Umm, err. zzzp. Dammit come on. zzzp. Oh for Stan’s terrible wig, budge damn you! zzzp. Struggle. zzzzzp.

Wenger: Retreat. AKBs retreat. The zip has stuck!

    4th place is 4th place.

Def no improvement in the quality of the squad this season especially getting hammered by City, Chelsea, Lfc and Everton. Also couldn’t beat weakest Utd team in 2 decades. City, Utd and CFC were all in transition and we benefited from an easy start to the season and we still came in 4th. Quite simply put, if Wenger can’t win this year when will he ever? If there was any truth to his “stability” Bollocks we would have capitalized.

Wenger thinks he’s actually doing us well/a favor by staying but he’s eroding our brand slowly. You don’t go a decade without winning while getting smashed repeatedly without your brand image taking a hit.

Utd know how important that is and will try their greatest to get back zo winning ways next season.

I only hope he doesn’t fcuk us up too much more over next two years.

  3. Keith

Ramsey loves Arsenal. He lives and breathes the club and has no plans to go elsewhere. At the same time he could be forgiven for occasionally glancing in the direction of his Wales team-mate Gareth Bale, who is flourishing in Spain, and wondering about the possibility of playing overseas, for a club such as Real Madrid or Barcelona, at some point in his career. “I have unfinished business at Arsenal first but maybe one day, when the time is right, I’d fancy that,” Ramsey says. “One of those two teams is quite mouth-watering.”

What a deluded wanker. He thinks he is good enough to play fore either clubs when he wouldn’t even make their bench.

  4. Minion

As I have said many times this is completely the fault of the fans letting the specialist in failure still be our manager.

  5. Charlie Boy

    @N5

Unfortunately there are plenty like him here!

Come on the arsenal – let’s finish the season with 79 points and the FA Cup in our cabinet!!!

  6. Minion

Why are they protesting over ticket prices? They should be protesting over Wenger getting a new contract. He is the biggest problem in the club and needs to rid of

  7. Arsene's Nurse

    N5 May 4, 2014 11:13:10

Keith, don’t start today you bellend, you are ruining this site.
    ————————————————————————
I think that is the intention. Don’t feed the troll.

  8. kwik fit

Wayne Veysey has just tweeted that Sagna’s wife is fit and will be at the match today. He also says that Diaby’s in line for a cameo appearance.
    He’s a must follow 😉

  9. Charlie Boy

    @minion

Arsenal is a business and delivers maximum revenue for minimum expenditure and that’s what Arsene delivers.

They don’t give a fuck about the fans, so long as the wonga comes in.

So, unfortunately we are where we are.

If we don’t make 4th next season, progress in the CL or win a domestic trophy, it will become a different matter!

  10. N5

Charlie boy, I love the Grove, Pedro and many of the posters, but there are now loads of these posters that are only here to cause trouble it’s ruining the place. Salvage, Minion, Keith, Godfather, MarbleHall, PMSL and they are making it a chore.

So many of the guys that have been here for years have just stopped posting here now and some days it’s just 90% trolls.

  11. Omar

They’ve got a bat shit crazy owner and his tinkering cost them heavily.

We also have a bat shit crazy owner and his refusal to tinker is costing us heavily.

  12. Minion

Why the fuck are the board obsessed with making money? All the money they make goes to AFC right? Does the money go to someone else other than AFC?

  13. Thank you and goodnight

    @N5
Well said mate. It’s a joke. That’s why I haven’t been on here much the last few days as apart from marble, I don’t think the rest are even Arsenal fans and I can’t be bothered arguing with them……And you all know I love a row:)

  14. S Asoa

Mirror reports Arsenal is willing to pay 31mil for Diego Costa , that being the release clause. It was reported couple of days back that Chelsea is wrapping up the signing at 32 mil, a good price for a fantastic player. It appears our Specialist at Failure PHD , has already worked out is failure strategy going below 32 mil . Now the wimp w/t Collones will croak how he went for the best ……and FAILED.

  15. Minion

As far as I’m aware the board gives Wenger shedloads of money to improve the team. I don’t give the fuck about the board my problem is with Wenger not utilizing it and winning titles. He’d rather develop young players and get 4th, instead of investing what we have and win trophies. With a good manager we could easily win trophies and be a top club again. Wenger is the biggest problem at the club.

  16. N5

Lol me too TYAG and I’ve said it a million times but I just don’t get it.

I’ve been on to read the past couple of days and found it hilarious to watch marble come on make 5 or 6 posts that all get ignored, he then goes aways and comes back an hour or so later and tries again! I’ve sinced realised it is only me that responds to him so I wonder how much longer he will behave like that. It’s so odd.

  17. N5

Minion, I’ve never known someone with such little information to post so many comments like they are ITK. You really are a dimwit.

It’s better to be thought of as stupid than to open your mouth a remove all doubt.

  18. kwik fit

Wenger linked with Rio Ferdinand in this morning papers.
I tell you what it just wouldn’t surprise me with Wenger. He absolutely loves a freebie…..just ask Diaby.

  19. Wallace

79pts is alright. it’s not like the teams in flux didn’t hand our asses on a plate to us.

  20. Bacaryisgod

By any objective standard, 79 points, Champions League qualification and an F.A Cup win would be a succesful season. I agree with Pedro though that this season might have been our best chance unless we surprise nearly everyone and add the key pieces needed next season.

  21. jwl

Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Arteta, Cazorla, Ozil, Podolski, Giroud. Subs: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Kallstrom, Rosicky, Diaby, Sanogo.

No reason to fear for next season, gooners, we can’t lose now that diaby is back!

  22. Keith

Lol at those who doubted we’d get top 4

Top 4 = successful season. top 4 plus Fa Cup (hopefully) = very successful season.

  23. tunnygriffboy

God everyone taking an answer Ramsey gave to a reporter as mega proof he wants to leave for Spain. Don’t mention the othr stuff in the interview that he owes the club and Wenger a lot, has unfinished business and is really enjoying being one of the main men at the club. None story really. Bastard media. God I sound like Keith. Sorry buddy

  24. Jeff

Basically, this idea that fourth place teams can qualify for the CL as had a disastrous effect on Arsenal. Participation money is all that we’re after – nothing else. We’re even good enough to make it past the group stages buy beyond that, the season’s toll bears down on us and we collapse in all competitions. It is the same story written in the summer and enacted in the winter for many years now.

Like many others, I am sick of this horrible saga that seemingly has no end.

  25. Leedsgunner

If Dennis started working for Tottenham I think a little part if me will die. Frankly, I give Dennis more credit and intelligence because surely he knows such a move would be nonsensical and utterly demoralising. It’s 100x worse than PV4 hawking his services at Man City.

Dennis I know you be getting paid to be with your best mates but don’t do it. Once a GOONER always a GOONER!

Ps. Why is everybody surprised at Wenger’s predicted reluctance to spend? He’s completely predictable and stubborn and acting to type.

“The only people spending the money over at Arsenal are the fans.”

  26. Cesc Appeal

    N5

You missed some crackers yesterday, blog was full of em…had some, “interesting theories”…

  27. tunnygriffboy

Ramsey out with thigh injury thought to be precautionary. Bollox. Not him and Ox, really need them for fa cup. If it is only precaution then glad he’s been rested. Nagging feeling it could be worse lol

  28. Jeff

    Lineup
Arsenal starting XI: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Arteta, Cazorla, Ozil, Podolski, Giroud

Subs: Fabianski, Jenkinson, Vermaelen, Kallstrom, Rosicky, Diaby, Sanogo

  29. Cesc Appeal

For fuck sake, someone needs to sort these ‘bad luck’ injuries…that’s Gnabry, Oxlade and Ramsey in recent weeks who’ve all picked up mystery strains behind closed doors.

  30. Craigy

Wenger is a cunt, I’m fucking sick of this man! Gotta love podolski tho, the way he walked done the hall at the emirates with arms out wide haha he’s such a lovable character 🙂 wenger don’t half talk some shite

  31. Craigy

So wenger has just basically said that our last 9 seasons have been minus success???? Well fucking do something about it, but the thing is he’s content with shit!

  32. GoonerInNY

    Bacaryisgod,

I disagree. I measure success as actual results v. possible results given talent, resources, etc. By that metric, Southampton and Stoke were successful, pretty much earning as many points as they were capable of and finishing in the top half of the table.

Given Arsebal’s available (unspent) resources and position in the league most of the season, the club underachieved due to the manager’s stubborness and incompetence in the transfer market, squad building and tactics. A team that should have contended for the title instead tumbled into a race for fourth, git hammered on the road against top-five teams (and had an emvarrassing record against them over all).

That, by my standards, is not success. The problem is that the current owner sees fourth and little spending as success.

  33. Cesc Appeal

I always feel Wenger tries to sound more intellectual than his brain can actually provide; hence he comes off like a stupid, delusional, out of touch div.

  34. Keith

Wenger is the most successful Arsenal manager of all time and that in itself is disregarding all the good he’s done for the club. Here’s hoping for another 10 years under Arsène Wenger’s leadership.

  35. Craigy

Wenger saying we still don’t know who will win the league, looking at him it doesn’t look like he gives a flying fuck that we ain’t in it, why coz to do that he’d have to except criticism and wenger is never wrong is he the deluded twat

  36. jwl

I just bought ramsey for fantasy football, what happened?

It is not only pedro and a few of us at le grove who question wenger’s training methods. When will players stand up for themselves and ask for modern training methods so we don’t constantly have injuries. A few weeks ago, Toure was supposed to be out season and he’s back in 10 days or something while at Arsenal wenger says week or two injury and player’s out for three months.

    wtf?!?!?!

  37. Craigy

Cesc appeal….. Your bang on m8, wenger waffles often talking in fucking riddles trying to be the smartest guy in the room, this is the first interview I’ve listened to him in a while and it’s a stark reminder of why I don’t listen to the idiot! He gives me an anxiety attack

  38. Craigy

So with Ramsey out ozil has yet again has no fucking runners to pick out! The way wenger has let this team slip over the years is unforgivable!

  39. Cesc Appeal

    N5

Ha! I think now that’s the best way to deal with them, there literally is no point trying to argue with them because they won’t have it.

    So just mock them…

  40. Cesc Appeal

Ozil aside, this Arsenal line up is the dullest we’ve had for years…over the season when Ozil and Ramsey were absent it’s hard to think of a more dull Arsenal side in recent times.

No pace, no power, no goal threat, slow passing…horrible stuff

  41. Mike adamski

Why does wenger play a strong team for this ??
We should be resting Ozil , Santi , sagna , mert, giroud etc..
This game is a dead rubber

We should be resting players for the cup

  42. Craigy

I would love to watch a game of football and not have to listen to the constant blabbering of the commentators, they just don’t shut up, I don’t wanna listen to mindless chit chat every two fucking seconds

  43. bergkamplegend

What ?? PROTEST in the Emirates ?? Well let me tell you that I find that absolutely SHO-KING!!
Who are these people, never happy with the 4th place trophy lol

  44. Ozrus

I keep meaning to say I enjoy reading Bacaryisgod’s posts. They are like a breath of fresh air on this blog of loonies. And in the same breath, what happened to Nasri’s Mouth?

Also it’s interesting how so few people paid attention when Surfer X dismantled everyone’s favourite clown gambon yesterday re: FFP. I mean, gambon was wiped out, had no come back, nothing!!, and no one came to his defence. Really strange. The Chihuahuas left gambon for dead. MuahahahAaA!!.

  45. MidwestGun

    Hey All,
Last home game. Kinda sad. We’re number 4 and all that. Just realized what Mike said is somewhat true. This is mostly our strong team. That we can say this is our strong team is sad.

  46. Carts

Pedro from barcelona £25m. Hardly featured as much as he’d of liked this season.

Penetrative, left side, attacking goal scorer

  47. bergkamplegend

    L’OREEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  48. Craigy

Just look at that vindicating grinn of wenger fucking pathetic! Now Quinn jumping in with the giroud sterling job bollox, oh my fucking god he just mentioned hero in reference to giroud, nial Quinn is a fucking muppet

  49. Ozrus

Craigy, I know what you mean. It’s like me having to read your constant bitching about my club here. I mostly just ignore your posts. How about you mute the commentating huh? Turn it the fuck off! Then you won’t have to whine about it.

  50. bergkamplegend

Hey look at the “in arsène we will have trust til we die” banners!!

Phil, Joe, Kevin and all their friends are at the stadium today!!

Another sunny day for the best formation center in England!!

  51. london gunner

Giroud is a great plan B

I think most top clubs would be happy with Giroud as a 2nd/third striker

I prefer Bony to him as a 2nd choice striker but Giroud is here and settled so might as well keep Giroud

BUT WE NEED A 1st class striker or at least a striker with pace who gives us something else!

I think if we can’t get anyone by the end of summer Vela should be brought back

  52. Bamford13

    Ozrus

What was the basic difference of opinion between Surfer and gambon re FFP? I don’t read most of those financial discussions as they bore me.

  53. Kleinfeld

Craigy – you’re a fucking ballbag. Is Wenger not allowed to smile when we score?

I bet if he didn’t smile you’d call him a cunt who doesn’t care about Arsenal.

  54. Guns of brixton

    London
Vela recently said he wouldnt turn down a move back here. but yur rite we need a 30+ goals per season striker.
OG a 20 goal per season striker at optimum.

  55. Bamford13

    Mo

At Arsenal you can score 22 by being decent at finishing balls served into the six — like today’s goal — and garbage at everything else.

    That’s Giroud.

  56. Mo

Ozrus, yeah, I mean, I think Giroud is a decent striker, but we need much better than decent to really have a shout at the big prizes. I’d be totally happy with him as the 2nd choice though. I don’t get the complete hatred of him by some though. He looked totally knackered not surprisingly a while back..but he’s done ok overall in my book. Clearly, he hasn’t done it against the bigger teams…but neither have the whole team.

  57. Danish Gooner

Arsene Wenger feels the need for a new striker but forgot to mention the need for a new DM,ooooohhhh i forgot we got Abou coming back,he will last for at least 15 minutes.

  58. Mo

    “Guns of brixtonMay 4, 2014 12:52:43
OG has 27 goals in 59 starts.”

    That’s a shit record 🙂

  59. Craigy

Ozrus…….. I’m so happy that you can’t see the state of our club, I wish I was as miss guided as you m8, but I ain’t! I say it how it is m8, just because my team wins doesn’t disguise what is actually going on here! Just because giroud scores a goal doesn’t make him anything but what he is, which is average, but wenger see’s it as a triumph whenever his garbage buys does something good! Where in a right state, but people like u just bend over and take it, I’m fucking sick of it, pundits can praise wenger all they want it changes fuck all dude! Where in dire straights with this nutcase in charge, people like u irratate the fuck out of me! Do u want success back or more of the fucking same!
