Get Nik a chocolate orange | Striker deal back on?

by .

NYC Head Office

Wow, another quiet morning of nothing. I’d start on the FA Cup, but it’s only Wednesday, that’s like putting the kettle on before you go to bed (for a morning tea. Jeez, what a bad line to start the post!).

So the transfer window does seen to be very quiet. The Vucinic deal fell apart which opens the door to us moving for him, if we were ever interested. He’s a good player, sure, but I can see why we’d pass on him. Expecting a 30 year old who has plied his trade in Italy for most of his career doesn’t feel like a fit.

I watched Serie A highlights last night. What a weak league. It really has lost its sparkle in a big way. The standard of keeping was beyond embarrassing. It was like watching a bloopers reel. Not only that, the stadiums were empty like an FA Cup replay between Norwich and Fulham. Sure, some of the big teams might fill their grounds, but my lord, playing away for those massive names must be hard work.

Anyway, I think the vibe on the striker is that Nik B can fill in. I think the feeling is that he’s newly focused on winning a contract. Life has clicked for him as a player and he’s fully up for contributing to the side. And look, Adebayor was hated as much at Spurs as he was at Arsenal 4 weeks ago, now he’s an absolute hero after being shown a bit of love by the new ‘Arry…

‘I just gave him a hug and chocolate orange… now the boy’s mustard’

… Arsene, get that man hug out the loft and send Jenkinson down to the newsagent for that chocolate orange. We have a title to chase!

The contract front seems uncertain. Sagna is after a 3 year deal and we’re offering him two. Rosicky is after a deal and we’re looking to play ball. I like both of them and I think we’re now in a position to afford to keep experience on. See, point is, if we sell them, we’ll only bring them back on short contracts in 2 years time. Keep em’ on Arsene, deck the training ground out in players who know the values you instill in them.

Did I mention the other day that the Lewandowski free transfer is worth €81m over 5 years! Mega money eh?

Aaron Ramsey selected ex Cardiff captain Graham Kavanagh as his footballing hero.

‘He was the Cardiff captain and played in my position, so that’s who I looked up to and wanted to aspire to be like.’

Humble as ever! He also picked out Scott Parker and Michael Ballack as great competitors. I was harangued on Twitter for suggesting Scott Parker as a signing a few years ago. People are now taking players that were good, but are now old and using them to make a point against the site. What a laugh.

Speaking of laughs, I’ve been asked to write one side of the FA Cup argument on Friday in an evening paper. You can guess which side. I think there is a compelling case for a full strength attempt and for not taking it seriously. Just know that before you tear up your Le Grove subscription.

Talking of things that aren’t a laugh. Stan Collymore abuse on Twitter. What the hell is going on here? I was talking to someone the other day about it, it’s like the new internet meme to racially abuse Stan on Twitter. I don’t care for the man, I think he’s a scumbag, however, this ‘well, he beats up women, so racism is ok’ is just a horrible thought process.

The point isn’t about who he is, it’s that we’re in the 21st century and certain people think there are negative connotations associated with skin colour. Twitter is a great platform, it’s help push this website from underground Arsenal blog, to mainstream opinion source single handedly. However, unlike most other platforms, it’s struggled to deal with abuse and it’s pecking order structure almost encourages extreme behaviour because it’s an attention proposition. Couple that with anonnymity and you’ve a recipe that tastes good to the nutters. I have two accounts, and it’s definitely the football account that’s the worst. But I’d imagine it’s the same issue for politics and religion. Facebook certainly did well forcing people to use their real identity to have an account. Half the idiots online wouldn’t behave the way they do if their real name was shown.

… but hey, I’m not going to suggest web passports because that opens the us up to a far worse problem. I just wish people would be more responsible with anonymity. But hey, whatever gets you attention I guess.

Right, rant over. Have a blinding day.

Who wants to explain why AW sold RVP to our rivals and why CFC would sell to ManUre who is also a rival team imho.
Perhaps people would say they are not rivals – lol

  2. andy1886

A new contract for NikB? I’m a bit undecided on that one. Has he grown up yet? Maybe, but I can’t help think that he isn’t that bright and once the ink has dried he’ll be back to being a half decent player but a pain in the arse.

As third choice I’d keep him, but I’m not convinced that he wouldn’t start kicking up a fuss if he wasn’t appearing regularly.

  3. ZARgooner

    Mata to United????

Would be a good deal for United. If it happens, i can only think that under Moyes Mourinho believes that in the short term that United are NOT title contenders to Chelsea.

I would love to hijack the deal but a) Mourinho will NEVER sell to us and b) although a player like Mata will always improve a team, I believe 35mil+ would be better spent on the striking department… Rooney?

  4. Hunter

I have to say as transfer deadline day gets closer and closer I feel that Wenger won’t sign anyone and try to wing the rest of the season with what we have.lets face it we sit top of the league, still in the Champions League, still in the FA Cup and that’s with this thread bear squad.Of course it’s glaringly obvious we need a top class striker BUT you can’t argue with the facts! He will do all he can to avoid buying someone(anyone)just to prove us all wrong and he is right,so folks be prepared for absolutely no action on the transfer front until the summer!

  5. Thank you and goodnight

I just don’t understand it. I mean if NB52 was not good enough in the summer and we tried to offload him, then what’s changed? Seems to me that Wenger’s reverting to type and using NB52 as a reason not to spend and if that’s the case I can’t see a WC striker coming in the summer either.

  6. Nasri's Mouth

@andy1886 / Thank you and goodnight

I’m assuming that Pedro meant that Bendtner is focused on winning a contract at another club, not Arsenal.

Well, at least I hope so

  7. Leedsgunner

So let me get this right, we are pinning our first title hopes on a player who:

    1. couldn’t shift one shirt whilst he was on loan at Juventus because he was so c***.

    2. said publicly that he never ever wanted to play for Arsenal again…

    *facepalm*

He may be a decent striker, even a good striker but at the very least he owes a public apology to the club and the fans for what he said, and for acting like a grade one pillock.

Personally I think it’s shameful that we need to turn to a player who has treated the club in this way because the powers that be at the club cannot for whatever reason get a proper striker.

It’s not like we’ve been looking for a striker for FOUR YEARS.

Another bland day in the football sphere. Mata going to United would be a short in their arm, esp if either RVP or Shrek back – he’d probably catapult them into 5th. Yaay.

ION, as much as a focused Pinkboots is great and he has got as at least 6 points this season (according to Pedro math..or logic), we do need in a body there. He isn’t going to hit the ground running and Feb will be a ruthless month. We need an alternate player to Giroud/Bendtner’s hold up-clay feet, kind of game. A striker who can drift in ando out of the channels and meet the ball into space as opposed to needing the ball played to feet.
Muriel or Martinez would have been choice but guess we’ll just have to chew on nails for the rest of the season as AW mops about trying to get his zipper up.

  9. Coolasfox

Good morning pedders!! Sorry don’t mean to complain but a bit of a nothing post this morning? Where’s the gossip any thOughts on the draxler for poldolski deal? Don’t get me wrong I love the post normally!

  10. N5

coolasfox, he probably didn’t comment on Poldi for Draxler deal because it’s absolute rubbish. I’m sure Pedders will appreciate your feedback though.

PS leave the link for your blog on the next comment and we’ll all come and have a look at that.

  11. Sam

    Gosh!

    Draxler-podolski deal ?

If it happens it will be the dumbest deal ever. Well wenger’s not that stupid, we won’t risk weakening our team after a couple of stepovers on YouTube
    Lol!
Just ask Joachim low if he has to pick just one player, draxler or podolski

  12. Rhys Jaggar

‘Couple that with anonnymity and you’ve a recipe that tastes good to the nutters. I have two accounts, and it’s definitely the football account that’s the worst. But I’d imagine it’s the same issue for politics and religion. ‘

It’s certainly true for politics: I’ve never read such disgusting, hard-core mental illness as I’ve read in political comments sections at one National Daily. Anyone who isn’t white, heterosexual, monogamous within a Christian marriage, capitalist, climate-skeptic, anti-EU, anti-immigration is cruising for verbal, emotional and spiritual bruising. I have to say that the level of political discourse in many places is about the level of her, her, her, her, her ‘you’re the other lot so you must be shite’ that you get amongst some football bloggers.

So far as I’m aware, there are times to be competitive (capitalist) and times to be cooperative (‘socialist’, ‘communautaire’, call it what you will). There are some folks best suited to Christianity, others to Islam, others to Confucianism, to Buddhism, to Hinduism etc etc. There are white folks, yellow folks, olive folks, brown folks and black folks. They all have two eyes, almost all either have two breasts with potential for lactation or two testicles with the capability for insemination and all are either heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual.

I must say that I’ve always believed in European dialogue keeping the peace but have been skeptical about an EU state. Others think differently. I have less tolerance for those of other opinions telling me that it’s done and dusted without due consultation and I’m a fruitcake for objecting. If the people of Europe want a USE after all, they’ll vote happily for it. Won’t they?

As for climate, well as a scientist I’m well placed to comment that it’s been a scam of epic proportions. However, it’s possible that the scam was part of a trade war. Unfortunately, it was QE by Europe in favour of China and India. Pretty darn stupid. But it’s fooled a lot of naive innocents. The tide is turning now, just as fortunes for the Arsenal start to rise.

AS for immigration, the argument is not about bashing those already here but how many more we can pack into our small island. How would you season ticket holders feel if I, as the new CEO of Arsenal, said I was increasing attendances by 10% a year without putting in any new seats, standing areas or the like? Oh, and I’m not cutting the prices either. I’m sure a few of you would be fairly disc huffed, wouldn’t you??

Having discussions such as those aren’t common in the political blogs, it’s verbal spats a la Prime Minister’s Questions. It’s noticeable that the letters page to the Times this week had 6 letters all condemning the puerile pointless, time-wasting affront to true democracy that is PMQs. No doubt the answer of the political hacks to all that was: ‘Oh fuck off back to the hole you came from!’ Therein lies the problem of British politics…….

Most of it comes down to people thinking making absolutely outrageous claims is the way to acquire power. We must all learn Latin to learn to read English proper like. Dig out some evidence not gathered scientifically without appropriate alternative scenarios, then run it across a website with a ‘leading author’ writ ing it. And that’s ‘politics’?? Scheming shenanigans, more like.

But that’s the way life is.

    Until things change……..

  13. Sam

Even schalke won’t believe their luck if we make that kind of offer
25M plus German international striker for their overhyped kid.
Not even sure he’s gonna get a game in the world cup

  14. Leedsgunner

If we are going to look in Serie A — let’s stop beating around the bush and get Balotelli for £25M and be done with it.

If he’s not available Luis Muriel or Stephan El Shaarwaay should be the type of players we should be looking at…

The Vucinic deal puzzles me – on one hand Wenger says he only wants players who are better than what he has already but we’re linked with him? (For £10m as well…) Forgive me, but the player in question is 30 untested outside Italy… excuse me if I’m underwhelmed. I supposed I should be glad we are looking at someone at least to complement Giroud… but is it enough to fire us to the title?

  15. Simon

“The Gunners boss appears to be in front of the British Airways bag drop area. BA flights leaving Heathrow at around the right time are going to destinations including Nice, Istanbul, Zurich, Barcelona, Rome and Munich.”

Hmmm. Nice has good bouillabaisse. Could be. Istanbul – nah. Zurich – he doesn’t need to visit his money. Barca – well, maybe. Aren’t they playing? Rome – a mistress? Munich – don’t they have a better than Giroud striker who is surplus to requirements?

  16. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

The suns headline that we have offed pod plus cash for an injured player is mad

Wenger ain’t a good manager he cannot handle big name star players

The man should have his cintract revoked

    We don’t need him

  17. N5

RSPCA it’s absolute garbage paper talk, I certainly wouldn’t use the sun as a reason to call for Wengers head, they are a dogshit paper.

  18. Leedsgunner

    I know Simon, I know.

    One can dream though.

Arsene never buys “big personalities” because he perceives it as a threat to his authority. Look at Viera and Henry as soon as they started questioning him, he shifted them out, as well as RvP… in Arsene’s mind no one’s bigger than him — not even the club, no one, not even gambon.;)

  19. N5

Lol, thanks Leeds, samsensible and Simon was talking about his face when he was telling off that lino, so I found it and had to use it!

Klopp for the next manager would be awesome.

RSPCA, I didn’t know that mate, I thought all of the papers talked rubbish.

  20. Nasri's Mouth

Leedsgunner: Look at Viera and Henry as soon as they started questioning him, he shifted them out

Vieira was linked with a move 2 seasons before he left…

  21. Sam

    Simon

I am sure arshavin was the best meerkat before we bought him.
At this time of the season, podolski is more important than draxler.
It will make sense in the summer if he signs n have preseason but swapping them now will be really stupid.

With Theo out injured it will be like losing 2 goalscorers in one window

  22. Leedsgunner

    NM

Perhaps. I’m sure if Wenger wanted to he could have kept PV4 and TH14 to the end of their careers like he did with Bergkamp… but by the time PV4 left, Wenger was so enamoured with his own arse and Project Youth that he didn;t want anyone or anybody that could endanger that.

  23. JamesH

i can tell you there were 58,000 gooners at Emirates grateful for Nik Bendtner after 88 minutes in the Cardiff game. As long as he scores ‘in the next game’ the rest is superfluous.

  24. kc

It’s s highly upsetting United might get Mata from Chelsea mid-season. It’s going to feel like we’ve missed out on one of the best midfielders in Europe twice now when we should have been the first to sign him anyway. Just proves big moves can be made in January. Meanwhile we need a Striker and what do we get? Nick fucking Bendtner? Thumbs up their asses, thumbs up their asses.

  25. R.S.P.C.Arsenal

Is the daily gate just as bad as the scum in paper terms then ? Laughs ??

Look bendtner is average to poor

But if wenger don’t sign a striker we are lumbered with him for the next six months!

So we have to accept it
    Alternatives are park or sanago

    Or even a kid ??

  26. Leedsgunner

As with Lehmann…. yes he was a “big personality” (“completely off his rocker” more like) but there’s always an exception to the rule…. 😉

  27. Sam

Wenger is a globalist penny-pinching capitalist.

Using bendtner to keep money in the bank to generate interest till summer gives him great buzz.

  28. Jamie England

If Rooney is refusing to sign a new contract/wants to go in the summer… then the only reason their selling Mata to them is so they get first dibs on Wayne… Noway Chelsea dont see United as a title challenger for next season… and maybe Jose thinks by stengthening them there more likely take points of us and city.. 😉 I still cant see it happening… Using United to stump up interest from France!!?? Now wouldnt that be funny 🙂

  29. N5

Sam your opinion turns daily. I thought you wanted Wenger to give the young ones a chance and now your complaining about his frugality? What is your position really? do you want him to buy someone, or if we get linked with someone are you going to make a comment about how they are a wanker?

  30. Nasri's Mouth

Possibly Wenger decided to sell Vieira because he thought he’d got to a point in his career where his value was going to drop. With Henry, it was Henry who wanted out.
Szczesny is another with a big personality. Would have been very easy to ship him a couple of years ago before ‘he made it’

This big personality bollocks is just that, bollocks.

  31. Nasri's Mouth

    @kc

Big moves can be made for players in January, but it often relies on all 3 parties needing something.

ManU need a new player (maybe not Mata, but they need something), Mata needs a move, and Chelsea possibly need the money, don’t need Mata, might need Rooney in the summer.

Players of Mata’s level do move in January, but not a whole bunch of them

  32. N5

I agree with NM, there is a massive difference between big personality and more trouble than they’re worth.

Viera, Lehmann, Szczesny = Big personalities

Balliotelli, Adebayor, M’Vila = More trouble than they are worth.

  33. KJafc

Thoughtful post Pedro and a subliminal message too.

    Morning boys.

I just want to throw something out there regarding transfer signings. It is not meant to be controversial.

There was much rejoicing in N17 when the perennial failures sold their star player Gareth Bale, plus speedos and water wings, for that huge sum of money, The rejoicing hit fever pitch when the club reinvested the money, plus some, on several players. In fact, £100 million in total outlay. There was also a lot of Arsenal pundits comparing what Spurs had done, with some even suggesting it was going to elevate them above us. The metro and other media outlets went into overdrive on the subject. Spurs had cemented their place into the big time and as challengers to The Arsenal. Yawn, again.

Roll on to just past the midway mark of the season and how things have changed.

Today there is a story that £30 million signing Erik Lamela may be off this month. He cannot get a game.

Similar stories abound regarding Lewis Holtby returning to Scahlke this month, because he cannot get a game.

The same is true of £7m signing Nica Chadli, who can hardly get a game and is worried about his World Cup place.

Etiene Capoue, another £7m signing, looks like leaving for Napoli in January.

Soldado their £27 million signing and star capture has proved lethal from the penalty spot but is again another one of the signings struggling for whatever reason.

If you do the maths, the list above is just shy of £75 million on players, with £47 million potentially leaving in the next week or so.

Of all the signings, I would argue that, Paulinho, who they bought for £17 million was worth the money. Eriksen for £11 million has played in fits and starts and has yet to prove the hype surrounding him but looks a decent player with potential. But that’s a poor return from their £100 million investment.

It goes to show that we need to be very careful jumping to assumptions about potential signings. You need to be sure the payer can settle and adapt to the PL. You also need to consider the fact that they will need time bedding into the team. Signing players and integrating them is a major part of football management. You do not go to the supermarket and pick a player off the shelf as some often suggest. It is far more complex.

Sometimes we fans ignore all these factors and just pluck players names out of the air and think you are going to get what you are paying for. But homework is key and when you go to other countries for players, there is probably a higher risk than looking at those already proving themselves in our league.

So if you want somebody to come in and hit the ground running, are you better off looking closer to home?

  34. Leedsgunner

    NM

We’ll agree to disagree… but if Wenger by some miracle signs Balotelli this transfer window — I reserve every right to change my mind and say you were right all along… 😉

  35. N5

Cheers Leeds, the only issue I have is which camp does Barton fit in? because on top of being a complete bellend, he’s also a massive c*** and shite at football.

  36. Kemp1886

Pedro, you spawned evil.Lolgrove is the one of the worst accounts that I have ever seen on twitter.Cringeworthy.My money is on poznan in my pants.

  37. Pedro

    Kemp, it’s 100% him. It’s pretty bad.

Most of the stuff he puts up I’m fine to talk around…

You should call him on it. Imagine having that much free time?

  38. Emiratesstroller

The media keep on coming up with a host of strikers that they claim we are interested in. I am 100% certain that we are not remotely interested in Vucinic.
This is almost certainly an ‘agent’ driven story. Why would we go after a 30 year old player whose club scoring record is little better than Bendtner and is also Champions League Cup tied.

Now we read in press that Arsenal are offering Podolski in part exchange for Draxler. Such a story is most improbable, because it would mean that both
players would be unable to play for either Schalke or Arsenal in Champions League.

Would Arsenal want seriously to destabilise Podolski at this stage of transfer
window and also what might have also a negative impact on rest of squad? Highly unlikely.

The reality is that Arsenal will probably not bring in any strikers at this stage
unless it is a short term loan.

We would only BUY someone if it is a genuine ‘world class’ player.

  39. Dream10

    Nasri’s Mouth

Henry did want out. But, I was very disappointed that we offered that ridiculous contract before he left. Arsene is to blame because he let him run the club. Despite be a breathtaking player, I felt he held the club by the nuts. We should have sold him right after the UEFA CL final. He can be a team’s best player, but with his attitude, there is no way he should have been a team captain and team leader. He is a charming fellow but very egotistical. In addition to being in decline, his presence was toxic after 2006. Don’t want him as an assistant coach or anything in a managerial capacity. Would love him as a team ambassador though. He would shine in that position.

  40. Leedsgunner

As brilliant as TH14 was — he was never a team player unless he thought you were as good as him. Probably explains why Bergkamp and he got along so well.

  41. KJafc

    Dream10

Thanks for those comments mate, appreciate it.

You won’t read anything like that anywhere else, the media seem to have a blindspot where Spurs are concerned. It is totally newsworthy and paints a slightly different picture on the whole transfer situation.

    Simon
Funny thing is, half those penalties weren’t pens anyway!

  42. Nasri's Mouth

    @Leedsgunner

We’re not signing Balotelli because Wenger can’t handle big personalities.

Firstly he’s not a big personality he’s a lunatic, secondly I doubt either him or his club will want him to move

  43. Nasri's Mouth

Interesting that people are coming round to Jonker now. There was some negativity about him when it was first announced. Now there’s a lot of positivity

  44. GoonPharm

    Afternoon ladies (?) and gentlemen.

KJafc – my personal favourite quote at the beginning of the season re: Spudniks was when some two bob journo said,

“They [spuds] have sold Elvis and bought The Beatles”

    Brilliant.

Having said that the players that they bought are decent. Had they persevered with AVB they could have done some damage. Sherwood is another Arry and is doing ok at the moment but is essentially a novice.

  45. GoonPharm

    To echo part of your post KJafc;
Signing players from other countries is a massive gamble.

Soldado and Negredo were both decent in La Liga, both cost a similar amount yet one has been woeful and the other must be buy of the season so far?

  46. somecallmemystic

    Simon think it more likely:
    Nice – gone to the riviera to have a piss up on his new mega contract;
Istanbul – checking his mistresses at the Harem at Topkapi Palace
    Zurich – checking out his tax free bank account;
    Barca – gone to watch a proper football team and continue his love in with Cesc;
    Rome – going to the Vatican to pray for forgiveness in he fucks up the season;
Munich – going to check the beer halls for that girl in the Le Grove picture.

  47. gambon

Spurs didnt spend a penny this summer.

So if youre gonna constantly praise wenger for getting nowhere without spending then surely you should do the same.

  48. KJafc

    Goonpahrm
If the players Spurs bought are decent and worth the money, please do not go shopping with my wife, she’s already trying to bankrupt me 😉

  49. Thank you and goodnight

    @Kjafc

I know I’m putting myself out here and it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to take, but I’ll gladly look after your credit cards for you mate to prevent your missus running them up.

  50. Simon

    Kjafc

Firstly, spurs are only 3 points off where they were at this point last season. They didn’t spend any money so not sure that’s not what you would expect.

Secondly, with pharmacy think you are missing as trick!

    Pharm,

Is your Mrs attractive? If so, I will take her shopping and I promise to prevent her spending a penny!

  51. KJafc

    Simon,
Actually, my wife is a very attractive women that any man would want to get his hands on and ravish. Well that’s what she tells me whenever I query those credit card bills!

  52. Carts

    KJAFC

using Spurs’ poor attempt at spunk-spending £100m as a premise of us fans not getting carried away with wanting anyone and everyone is silly.

Cant speak for everyone, but Ive waited 8 long years to really even have something to smile about.

Constant lies; selling best players; money hoarding; mute yank owner- I can go on.

So to give a financial and explanation of players who can’t cut it is futile. Wenger, till recently, barig a few exemptions, still bought shit players. So what difference does

  53. Bamford13

I could care less what Bendtner said back when he was frustrated with Wenger and his mysterious ways. He’s grown up since then and many of us too have been frustrated with Wenger.

Bottom line is Bendtner is a better striker than Giroud and can score goals when we need them. If Wenger isn’t bringing in another striker, Bendtner is the best we’ve got.

Never mind the haters, Nicklas — you’re the Danish king! =)

  54. N5

“Constant lies; selling best players; money hoarding; mute yank owner- I can go on”

Please do, because bar selling our best players (who wanted to leave) the rest is just conjecture.

  55. KJafc

    Simon
I told my wife that for as beautiful as she claims to be, I could improve her looks without any further expense. I turned the light off.

  56. gambon

“So to give a financial and explanation of players who can’t cut it is futile”

Cant cut it isnt even true.

Spurs are 5th, where they finished last season, on course for more points than last season.

Despite losing the best player in the PL, integrating 8 new players, managerial change and other teams spending big they are basically no worse off than last season.

In fact they are currently in the position weve spent most of the last 2.5 years in, 5th.

  57. gambon

    “the rest is just conjecture.”

    Wouldnt agree with that.

I would say the other points made were very valid, and in no way conjecture.

Lies? – Certainly, every season for many years. No conjecture here.

Money Hoarding? – There isnt any doubt about this, not any.

Mute Owner? – This is true, but not really a problem, while Stan is mute, he also doenst seem to have any say in the running of the club, hence why he hired Gazidis. IMO owners are best staying away from executive responsibility.

  58. N5

Mute owner – how often do we hear from any club owners? not often so Stan is only mute to the fans, not to the board, or is he? who knows, so IMO conjecture.

Money hoarding – on the face of it, yes it does look like it, but was there a plan, do we know if there wasn’t, I don’t so IMO conjecture.

Lies – I do think that this is true yes, but I’m not 100% sure Wenger and Co didn’t believe them when they were saying them, so again it IMO is conjecture.

Unless there is hard evidence to suggest otherwise, like watching our best players leave then it is always going to be seen one way by some and one way by the others.

That doesn’t for a minute mean I think carts or gambon are wrong, just it is open for debate?

What do the rest of you think, were we money hoarding, best player selling, lying and silent or ?

I’m just defending Nicklas from the the abuse he was receiving above.

Some people are more offended by a player (Bendtner) saying something negative about the club than by a player (Giroud) playing like a donkey game in and game out for the club.

Not me. I prefer a player who speaks his mind to a player who can’t really play.

Sorry, but that’s just how I feel.

The cull at youth level has been enormous in the last year, and should continue into the summer.

Lots of work for that dutch guy to do, the academy looks to be fairly poor right now.

Maybe we can do the same to Diabys contract.

  61. N5

If I’m honest Bamford I think the way NB has been treated is terrible, but I also think he is an idiot at times and doesn’t know when to shut his mouth.

  62. Nasri's Mouth

Spurs sold Bale for a lot of money, they won’t get a payday like that again. Their wage bill probably went up a fair bit. Doubt they’ll want to have a big net spend in the summer if they’re saving for their new stadium

A morning of decent exchanges and then it starts again.

To deliberately ignore comments and spin what is said to mean something else, so the conversation can be moved to suit your own agenda is just plain pathetic and needs to stop.

Can we just try to have sensible debate, without any spin, misquotes, name calling and discrimination. Please.

The debate was not actually about Spurs and their success or otherwise. It was about getting value for money and spending wisely, as Spurs signings proved that there were no guarantees. Not sure how this had anything to do with Wenger. At the bottom I posed a simple question but if you cant be asked to read something you will have missed it:

Question: So if you want somebody to come in and hit the ground running, are you better off looking closer to home? (eg, Premier league)

Let us try again shall we:

“Today there is a story that £30 million signing Erik Lamela may be off this month. He cannot get a game. WAS THIS VALUE

Similar stories abound regarding Lewis Holtby returning to Scahlke this month, because he cannot get a game. WAS THIS VALUE

The same is true of £7m signing Nica Chadli, who can hardly get a game and is worried about his World Cup place. WAS THIS VALUE

Etiene Capoue, another £7m signing, looks like leaving for Napoli in January.
    WAS THIS VALUE

Soldado their £27 million signing and star capture has proved lethal from the penalty spot but is again another one of the signings struggling for whatever reason. WAS THIS VALUE

If you do the maths, the list above is just shy of £75 million on players, with £47 million potentially leaving in the next week or so. IS THIS VALUE

    I added:
“It goes to show that we need to be very careful jumping to assumptions about potential signings.

So if you want somebody to come in and hit the ground running, are you better off looking closer to home?”

How hard is this for heavens sake. Wengers was not mentioned, he was not implied, so why start a row?

Great to see a post from Gambon- but I wonder why- we haven’t lost for a while?
When we are winning and playing well under the manager he hates he just goes silent. and hopes we lose. thats what ego mania has resulted in.

It’s ridiculous to call yourself a fan when you hope and pray your team loses.

  65. gambon

“When we are winning and playing well under the manager he hates he just goes silent.”

    Wrong.

“It’s ridiculous to call yourself a fan when you hope and pray your team loses.”

Yeah, i want us to sign Pogba, Draxler & Costa cos I want us to lose.

    Move along dickhead.

  66. Nasri's Mouth

Gambon: Ive gone from thinking he should be our number 2 to thinking he should be sold. Hes a lower level / mid table player.

Hardly new though is it ? You’ve gone from saying he’s good to terrible and from the worst in the league to the 10th best.

Up and down, up and down

  67. TheBayingMob

Balotelli is just a fucking nut job, he’s demonstrated that time and time again, AW fucked Arshavin off because he was a bit eccentric how does anyone think he could handle that fucking mental case??

  68. Nasri's Mouth

    @Simon

Gazidis doesn’t need to say much right now. I expect we’ll hear again from him in the summer when we’re not signing as quickly as we want

  69. KJafc

    That is my lot boys.

Cheers for the fun this morning TYAG, Simon etc and all the other great insightful posts.

LG has just descended into argument instead of sensible debate and we are back to Giroud. Not sure how many times this can go on, surely everything has been said a million times? Some people appear to be only happy when they are slagging people off. Lets hope Karma exists. Cheers.

Care to defend that analysis ive just posted?

No, just some cheerleading & defensive bluster as always?

Come on, tell me why he should be part of a top team?

  71. Oh Theo Theo!

Hmmm – KJafc flouncing off into the sunset.

Don’t let the door hit you in your vagina on the way out….
