Hello, where are my new Arsenal players?

by & filed under News Review.

Word up people! Yeah, things just went east side American slang on yo ass. Ya feel me?

Just joking. I’m still the raw middle England character you knew before.

So, today, is another news day.

We enter August with no signings whatsoever. Now, obviously the web is about slamming people, and, despite the window having another 30 days to go, I’m being slammed. Ivan’s dasterdly plan to conquer the biggest moaner in the land has obviously worked and I’ve been hook lined and sinkerered

… but wait, you mean, if nothing happens… I can go back to making this site a place of misery and doom?

Really?

I can come back with twice the venom as before? Like, literally, melt the Internet with misery and proclamations of the end?

I know… Of course I can. Ivan and his team have gained nothing by getting me onside for a month. It’s also worth noting 95% of my summer chat comes from someone else I’ve been speaking to for 4 years. So still, despite the lack of noise, I’m keeping the faith. Or two relationships are over…

The main reason for the on-going positivity is because if you’re Arsene Wenger armed with £100m and £500k a week in wages… you really can’t be coming out of a summer without any players. If you do… it kind of means you’re finished. Attracting talent is a major part of the job. If we’re not doing that, or worse, Wenger has gone cold on the idea, it’ll be curtains for him. Big clubs need progressive managers. If Wenger has lost the fight, move on garçon…

Anyway, bidding £40m for Suarez is a start. That story has plenty to go. The rest of the squad still has a chance as well. So lets keep the faith, kick up a fat fuss at The Emirates at the weekend (and we know the players will support that as well) and hope for better days.

One more thing… Arsenal are the most long term club in the world. I’m really not sure why people think Ivan Gazidis would put so much effort into bringing people like me onside, just for a few months respite.

Simply put, that’s really not a social PR strategy… and beleive me, bitchy bloggers are a massive irritant, I’m learning that first hand this month.

I guess the other thing in the back of my mind is that I don’t think 4 players makes us contenders… mainly because it doesn’t solve Wengers managerial weaknesses at the highest level. Those were present in the prime times. They’re even more obvious nowadays. Maybe a new manager with £100m is a tastier proposition?

Most of you can’t believe that Wenger is tactically weak, ‘Oh but Pedro, he put a striker on when we were losing 2-0 in the 81st minute’, I mean obviously, there’s a level of thought that goes on…  but the club are still in the dark ages compared to others on tech, preparation and post game recuperation.

How’s that for a bit of positivity this morning?

Love Pedro. Xxx

When he says “We are still working on improving our squad…” please do not think this means new players; it’s double speak! Improving the squad means improving the players that are already in it – not buying new ones. He is such a serial liar; even when he is seemingly making a straight forward statement, it’s basically a lie to instil hope in the AKBs and those who still have a modicum of faith in what he says.

  2. N1Goon

Haha, not THIS year Wenger you CUNT, Ivan has outed you for the stingy, brooding hen you are and you WILL get anally fisted by the media if you don’t spend.

  3. RIPAFC

Every team is signing players trying to strengthen
We have millions in bank an certainly more than Tottenham but the CUNT & AKBs are content with 4th.

    CUNT

I hope no kids ain’t on this website if are sorry for foul language but enough is enough that CUNT has to go

Jus to think they’re gonna give him a new contract

Hello Ivan if your reading, can we please have Cesc, Suarez/Reus, Gustavo, Papadopolous/Williams/Sahko & Begovic/Cesar/Adler(?) please & no more Santoss’.

  5. Adam Bucci

i really wish that in the post game interview after we lose the opener wenger is asked ‘so arsene, hows it feel to take a once great team and make them mediocre?’

if only reporters had the balls to ask questions that matter.

  6. Hunter

I hope we get well and truly smashed in the Emirates Cup by everyone we play,I know your all gonna say no true gooner would ever want his team to lose….BUT its the only way now for us to get rid of wenger forever.I hope in fact we dont win a frigging game all season until this prat is ousted, thats the ONLY pressure he couldn’t stand. There would be no excuses left,if he is saying that his current team can challenge, and can challenge without any new signings, then he is signing his own death warrant,so yeah I hope we fail and fail miserably!!!

  7. mr

The destruction being done to arsenal is soon unrepoairable,

Pedro how can you believe anything gazidas tells you..

Arsenal is a business that has been asset stripped.wilshere and ox look like they will be washed up come the end of the season. Only god can help arsenal now.

” We are still working on improving the squad but if we don’t add anyone we still have a strong squad”

FFS we have 19 senior players, including injured diaby, vermaelen and monreal, to start season with.

Is this Senile idiot questioning fan’s intelligence by making such quotes.

I wish the our Board had some balls.

  10. Dan Ahern

It’s seriously concerning how hard the club is trying to make this British Core thing happen. It feels like a shameless contrarian move to boast about how different we are. Other teams spend on established foreign stars, while we bring up young Brits. It’s almost like we’ve come full circle from the days when other teams employed rough-and-tumble Brits while we imported foreigners to play a European passing game.

  11. TitsMcgee

Sometimes I wonder if it’s arrogance or egotism or cheapness or senility or if he’s plain old just cutting off his nose to spite his face.

What rationale would he use/could he use to not strengthen?

  12. Jeff

I know it’s not joke Friday but it’s close enough. A while ago I stumbled across what is commonly known as “stupid lawyer questions in court” and here are some absolute gems. I’ve heard so much stupidity from Wenger today that dipping into jokes about stupidity gives me calm. If you haven’t already seen this before it will crack you up.

    **********

Lawyer: Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?
Witness: All my autopsies are performed on dead people.
Lawyer: Do you recall the time that you examined the body?
Witness: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m.
Lawyer: And Mr. Johnson was dead at the time?
Witness: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy.
Lawyer: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
    Witness: No.
Lawyer: Did you check for blood pressure?
    Witness: No.
Lawyer: Did you check for breathing?
    Witness: No.
Lawyer: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
    Witness: No.
Lawyer: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
Witness: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
Lawyer: But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?
Witness: It is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.

    *********

Lawyer: Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in the voodoo or occult?
    Witness: We both do.
    Lawyer: Voodoo?
    Witness: Yes we do.
    Lawyer: You do?
    Witness: Yes, voodoo.

    **********

Lawyer: How was your first marriage terminated?
    Witness: By death.
Lawyer: And by whose death was it terminated?

    **********
Lawyer: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th?
    Witness: Yes.
Lawyer: And what were you doing at that time?

    **********
Lawyer: What is your date of birth?
    Witness: July fifteenth.
    Lawyer: What year?
    Witness: Every year!
    **********
Lawyer: How many times have you committed suicide?
Witness: (looking confused) Is that a question?
    **********
Lawyer: Trooper, when you stopped the defendant, were your red and blue lights flashing?
    Witness: Yes.
Lawyer: Did the defendant say anything when she got out of her car?
    Witness: Yes, sir.
    Lawyer: What did she say?
Witness: She said ‘What disco am I at?’
    **********
Lawyer: Mr. Smith, you went on a rather elaborate honeymoon, didn’t you?
Witness: I went to Europe, Sir.
Lawyer: And you took your new wife?
    **********
Lawyer: You say the stairs went down to the basement?
    Witness: Yes.
Lawyer: And these stairs, did they go up also?
    **********
Lawyer: She had three children, right?
    Witness: Yes.
    Lawyer: How many were boys?
    Witness: None.
    Lawyer: Were there any girls?
    **********
Lawyer: Can you describe the individual you saw?
Witness: He was about medium height and had a beard.
Lawyer: Was this a male, or a female?

    **********
Lawyer: And where was the location of the accident?
    Witness: Approximately milepost 499.
Lawyer: And where is milepost 499?
Witness: Probably between milepost 498 and 500.

    **********
Lawyer: Now doctor, isn’t it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn’t know about it until the next morning?
    **********
Lawyer: Was it you or your younger brother who was killed in the war?
Witness: What do you think counsellor.
    **********
    Lawyer: Did he kill you?
Witness: Excuse me counsellor can you repeat the question?
    **********
Lawyer: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney?
Witness: No, this is how I dress when I go to work.
    **********
Lawyer: What was the first thing your husband said to you when he woke that morning?
Witness: He said, “Where am I, Cathy?”
Lawyer: And why did that upset you?
    Witness: My name is Susan.

    **********

    Lawyer: What happened then?
Witness: He told me, he says, “I have to kill you because you can identify me”
Lawyer. And did he kill you?
    Witness: Yes!

    **********

Lawyer: (Showing the witness a picture) That’s You?
    Witness: Yes.
Lawyer: And you where present Right! when the picture was taken ?

  13. salparadisenyc

Certainly Wenger did not say we need no new signings?

You seriously cannot make this shit up as nobody would believe the naivety of the Arsenal supporters, myself included. Hoodwinked by true masters the glimmer twins of Gazidas / Wenger.

  14. kwik fit

Wenger keeps talking about the exceptional attitude of the current squad. It wasn’t that long ago that the players were enthusing about the prospect of some top players coming to the club. Not only will he alienate the fans but he will de-motivate the current squad by his inactivity in the transfer market.

  15. Dan Ahern

The other funny thing about the British Core is that aside from Wilshere it’s completely bought. We picked them all up in their late teens, sometimes paying very handsomely.
Now, I credit AW/AFC for developing them once they arrived, but it’s not like the core occurred organically. So it’s a bit silly to boast about.

  16. mr

If we can get to a hundred cunts we can print the thread, make a banner out of it and wave it at the cunt at the ec cup!!!

  17. Harry Redknapp

if we had a new manager and he said dont panic were working hard to make transfers happen i would give him the benefit of the doubt and then id give it to him again if he came out and said we couldnt get the players we want but we will go again in january, but not arsene that twats a cunt of a liar

  18. arsenal-flavour

I will be watching Dortmund next season.

I will always support Arsenal over Dortmund when the two play I will always route for Arsenal to win but i’d quite frankly rather watch a Dortmund game its not about titles and trophies so much as quality.

I always want Arsenal to win but I cannot afford to go to Emirates to watch the match. so me watching Arsenal from tv helps my team in know way and as I don’t want to watch shite football for 90 minutes whats the point. If Arsenal were playing amazing football with great players I could make allowances for matches but right now I’d rather save any hard earned money on going clubbing and picking up sluts.

  19. arsenal-flavour

    lol

last season I was with my ex girlfriend I had a choice between sex or Arsenal it was an important match lol I choose Arsenal

NOT GONNA HAPPEN THIS SEASON hahhahah,

pussy or shit football hmmm hard choice eh??

  20. Harry Redknapp

behind the goal at the home end theres a couple goers, this is the reason im keepin my season ticket.

  21. Relieable sauce

Good luck to Gnabry, Ryo, Miquel, Sanogo, Akpom, Eisfeld, Martinez, Zelalem & any of the other kids Wenger deems ready for a title challenge this season. No doubt they are talented & keen to do well but they shouldn’t be put in this situation, league cup yes but title challenge no, definitely not.

The man needs removing by IG!!!
I genuinely believe Ivan should hand back last years seasons bonus if he doesn’t act straight after the EC.
We are 3 weeks away from starting our 9th fruitless season & there appears to be a power struggle between the manager & the board.
ACT NOW SO WE DON’T LOSE ANOTHER SEASON, THE FANS WILL UNDERSTAND.

Sacking him would have been crazy before the Asia tour & Nagoya reunion so i still have some hope for this season. This simply can’t go on.

  22. Dan Ahern

Okay, fair, I’ll give you Gibbs as well. So him and Jack. The rest were (relatively) high-profile targets of multiple clubs. Sometimes expensive targets.

  23. Harry Redknapp

if the arsenal board really wanted to make money they should sell raffle tickets about 100 pound a pop, the winner gets to hand arsene his p45 and kick him in the ass as he leaves the building, i guarantee we could buy bale messi and neymar just off le grovers contributions alone lol

  24. Same Story

I never really had a second team but Dortmund have well and truly won me over, their style of play, passion of the coach and the fans,a £100 season ticket…just the perfect team to support.

  25. Harry Redknapp

what did arsene really do for gibbs though? beg gael clichy to stay and practically start cryin, what did he do for jack, all but lend him back to bolton until cesc and ramsey were crocked. lets be real those two wouldnt even be arsenal players today based on talent, just circumstance .

  26. Matt

Get ready lads for scraping the end of the barrow. Wenger is untouchable . Unless we kick up protest we’re not going to be heard

  27. Cesc Appeal

I actually feel sorry for the youngsters like Gnabry, Akpom etc and the new crock Sanogo.

They’re going to get so much stick and vitriol…and it’s really not their fault, they shouldn’t even be there.

  28. Cesc Appeal

    RS

Haha! Didn’t see that…all true though. Not their fault, they’ve got an incompetent, egotistic manager.

    CA
No, its not like we haven’t been here before as well.
I think the fans will give them a good reception though individually, it should start the, spend some fucking money chants if there not already going.
Unfair on fans & players alike & he thinks he’s doing us all a favour & should be grateful for it. I’m sure NB is grateful but not many of the good ones are in the end.

  31. Cesc Appeal

I know there’s still way, way, way too many AKB’s out there, but at least you look around the sports sites and the comments section is now filled with people saying the same sort of things you read on here…how disgraceful and embarrassing Arsenal are.

Good to see. Carry it into the season, Enough is enough.

We can do something, by doing nothing.

  32. Cesc Appeal

    RS

Sort of feel a little sorry for Sanogo…you can see a lot of fan staking the piss out of him etc, (myself included calling him a crock)…not his fault he’s our only ‘signing’.

We were promised champagne and instead we’ve been given Tesco Value Diet Cola.

Shouldn’t take it out on the beverage…take it out on the guy that served it to you.

  33. Harry Redknapp

i dont feel sorry for signono, he aint got a loyal bone in him, his club been footing his injury bill for years then he ups an offs.

  34. RayGooner

Arsenal has only had a net spending of more than -£15m 4 times since Wenger took over…..and there are something significant with all these 4 seasons…..

1997/1998 – We won the Double!
2001/2002 – We won the Double!
2003/2004 – We won the league without losing a game!
2005/2006 – We reached the CL-Final for the first and ONLY time!

We actually were successful when we splashed some cash…..go figure!

  35. sam

    RayGooner,

I didn’t wanna talk about Suarez today but…….

1.arsene wenger won’t break arsenal transfer record this summer. he’s still looking for under 15M deal, Fact! so please forget Suarez.
    2. with the world cup coming in less than 12 months, No way he’s going to buy someone who will keep Giroud on the bench. Even that Yaya Sanogo has jumped ahead of everyone( he’s gonna flop if he’s being fastracked he’s better off loaned out back to france for at least a year.
This is why I am convinced we won’t buy any striker this summer, at least one that wouldn’t trouble mighty Olivier. so forget suarez

  36. MarsBar

Once the season starts and so do the games I will be rind the team no matter what. Anything vitriol will be aimed at Wenger. The players won’t and don’t deserve to be tarnished with the same brush.

…unless they have a bad performance etc then that’s a diferent matter altogether, lol. But this time it is down to Wengers weakness and inept attitude to do anything. It is different some players I will feel sorry for, World Cup yer and will be run into the ground by the man!

Our squad is so fucking small. Wenger is a fool if he hasn’t seen that already. Lets hope the first few games are ok and we Get results to take the Pressure away from the players.

I live in Sussex. On the last day of the season I went to a pub in in town that’s booming, half was Spurs, half was Arsenal.

I met an older (I’m 23) Arsenal fan in the smoking area (I don’t smoke, just sat there with my mates) and it was 0-0 against Newcastle.

We started chatting, I said ‘Wenger’s got to go, don’t you think?’

He said ‘Nah. It’s not Wenger, its the players. They let him down.’

I said ‘well who put’s them out there?’

    He said ‘Nah.’

So i said the board are shit as well, he said ‘I don’t really get involved with all that.’

That’s the problem, most Arsenal fans just don’t have a clue! They think Arsene has 57p to play with of a summer.

Hopefully that’s why this season will be different and we’ll be able to have his head…people know we’ve got more money than any other non-financially doped club.

Liverpool have apparently activated Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa’s 25M euros release clause.

They probably don’t have space for him, Suarez AND Sturridge, so there might be something in this.
    Let’s wait and see

I still think that Bale might stay and be sold next summer.

If he stays or if he goes it’s not good for us.

Levy has more balls than the entire Arsenal board and Wenger put together.

  40. Jeff

    Herve,

Last year we showed exactly what can happen when you sell your best player, Other clubs are not so stupid. It’s not about the player. It’s about the club and ambition. Something our lot lost sight of years ago.

& then when he’s sacked, they’ll say the fans forced him out. They’ve got some bizarre fucked up Stockholm/martyr syndrome, beyond help.
Its what IG & the bod’s will have them believe as well, rather than make an “executive decision” for the good of the club, gutless.

  42. Toli83

    Cesc Appeal,

I wouldn’t feel to sorry for him . He was intending on becoming a postman until Wenger got him.

Now he’s got a five year deal which will get extended even if he’s shit rising to 50k a week more than likely.

    He’s laughing.

  43. Reiss

If the players aren’t performing well surely you replace them with quality? All Wenger supporters are quick to blame the players but never the manager why?

  44. Jake

That postman BS is gonna keep coming up isn’t it. “If I wasn’t a footballer I’d be a postman” and somehow that’s been twisted into a stick to beat the kid with.

  45. Harry Redknapp

we should just buy a bunch of tommy guns and wait outside arsenes house for that citreon saxo arsene won on arsenal dot com. soon as we see it open fire on the old git.

  46. Ulstersaysarse

Next Thursday I’m off for the open training day then Q&A at The Emirates. Any questions people want asking? Might take some eggs with me.

  47. HerveDeNerve

It has also been revealed that Tottenham are the only Premier League club to have made an offer for Bernard, with Arsenal failing to follow up their interest with a formal bid.

Instead, Shaktar Donetsk remain the sole club to have met Atletico’s valuation of the 20-year-old.

Speaking to Radio Itatiaia Atletico president Alexandre Kalil said: “Tottenham made an offer of €18 million (£15.7m) for Bernard but they withdrew.

“Arsenal told us that they would bid but never did so. So what we have now is a €25m (£21.8m) bid from Shakhtar.”

    What a fucking joke!

  48. Toli83

Watching Swansea on ITV4 – Bony & Michu both on scoresheet .

They have a better strike force than us .

Their team play well under Laudrup, would have him in a heartbeat.

  49. Pistol Pete

The day will come when wenger gets his comeuppance. How can the board watch/ let him get away with how he is treating our great club Arsenal. Shame on you board. I will be waiting for the special day that wenger gets kicked out the door from fan pressure. Come on fans, he must be booed at the Emirates cup. WENGER OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  50. Reiss

Bony proven quality £13 million and he’s scoring goals whilst Wenger this season will probably this season persistent with players like Chamakh and Bendtner.

  51. DUIFG

Swansea make us look like a fucking joke operation, they will rip us apart this season. Play lovely stuff, have options all over the park we would kill for. Disgraceful.

  52. Toli83

Wenger still preaching today there is a special bond between the young arsenal players who all deserve a chance at the club.

Think that’s him justifying why he won’t buy anyone.

The worst thing about all this, is intelligent people genuinely think a protest in 2 weeks would result in a sacking. #facepalm

  54. Johnty79

After Swansea beat qpr last season on the opening game week I said laudrup should be our manager..Find the post please someone it’s there in print.

I love being right all the time……

And yes samba could have been a legend for us…..

    I wouldn’t mind if we paid laudrup 10 m a year….

  55. Johnty79

    Prediction….

Norwich,Southampton,Swansea will all beat us in the league this season,,maybe not ahead of us in the league but will definitely beat us.

And I’ll be coming back to gloat when it happens.

  56. Alan Lawless

  57. 6th-is-a-new-trophy

    Liverpool in for a striker.

So that’s Suarez for us or complete egg on face as he leaves for bayern or Madrid.

Arsenal’s credibility now hanging by a thread!

What happy times to be a Gooner. Thanks Msr Wenger?

  58. Sam

Hey why aren’t you all supporting mighty Swansea you idiots think laudrup can manage arsenal.

  60. kwik fit

The Daily Mail reckon that Arsene’s lack of ambition in the transfer market is an embarrassment for all Arsenal fans.
    Embarrassed? I’m not embarrassed….are you?
    😳

  61. Cesc Appeal

It’s been said already but…Swansea have a better strike force than us…hugely embarrassing.

Swansea, a club who only a few years ago were close to going out of business, are now £2 Million shy of our record signing…hugely embarrassing.

  62. Samir

I think Swansea nearly have a better squad than us.

Add Cazorla and Koss to their team and I think they’d get 4th comfortably.

  63. Sam

I prefer the money is used to strengthen midfield and defense. Obsession with Suarez is making you forget that we still weak in other areas

  64. goonerboy

As things stand the club has offloaded 24 players this year-brought in one free transfer-and in Wenger’s own words is not close to buying anyone.

The squad is threadbare, physically weak in midfield, short up front and at centre back. The goalies are not top level. The squad is only barely good enough to compete in mid table.

It was obvious that Wenger didn’t bid for Suarez-just as he didn’t want Arshavin-not because he doesn’t like the player- but because he is averse to spending large amounts on any experienced footballer. He’s shown he is prepared to waste millions speculating on kids who never make it and he’ll take anyone on a free transfer.

Wenger says that he wants to compete commercially. The fact is that Wenger will support investment in anything except experienced footballers.

Arsene Wenger has been Arsenal’s biggest asset up to 10 years ago- for a decade now progressively he’s turned into the biggest liability at the club-the main reason the club is no longer competitive.

Far from being the coach of the decade as those utterly deluded untold fools believe-he is now the most penny-pinching, arrogant, self deluding manager in the EPL. The Emirates is destined to be become a massive white elephant that will not be able to be given away if Wenger stays at this club.

  65. Reiss

We need to strengthen the spine of our team and without a doubt but I’ll ask this like I asked before when was the last we signed a defensive midfielder and who was the last one we bought Lassana Diarra?

  66. Cesc Appeal

AKB’s must be confused…Tottenham meet the asking price for Soldado and he’s flown in today for his medical…THAT’S NOT HOW TRANSFERS WORK!!!

  67. Samir

    Begovic
    Rami
    Pogba
Di Maria (Madrid need fund for Bale)
    Suarez

How hard can it be? We all know we’ll be lucky to get one player this transfer window though.

    WENGER OUT!
