If Arsenal bid £30mil for Suarez, then my bottom is a kipper

by & filed under News Review, Transfer Gossip.

Obviously I’m not allowed to use bad language but you get the message here. There is no way Wenger has made a serious offer for the buck tooth people eating machine, not a chance.

First of all he wouldn’t sign someone who is a man eating racist, not when you consider Wenger’s track record in the type of player he signs.

Secondly he wouldn’t offer anything for anyone out of his comfort zone, and although that used to be £15mil, I’m sure it’s gone up to the £22mil we allegedly bid for Higuain.

Thirdly Pedro told me it was pulled together by a Scouse journo.

Finally, if we have indeed offered £22mil to Madrid (and that’s a big if) then it could be a Red Herring to get them to stop playing silly buggers and sell us their man.

Of all the players out there available, he is the last one I would sign (Suarez), of course I wouldn’t kick him out of bed, but as I said, there are plenty more out there I would have first.

I did a post on signing him from Ajax years ago, but we didn’t then and that was before his antics in England, so I can’t see it happening now.

I do have a question though, remember Benik Afobe? How has YaYa Sanogo leapfrogged him in the pecking order? Is the injury prone Frenchman better? If so why have we persisted with Benik for years and years and why is he still in the Academy. Not to mention how does it make him feel?

Regardless of all the speculation I would still secure the signing of one Marouane Fellaini, he’s still available and if we don’t watch it, Moyes will spirit him away to ManU.

I know that by reading a lot of your comments yesterday there are a number of people out there that don’t believe we’ll sign anyone of note, aside from a few second tier Frenchies, well the cynic in me agrees with that, but that’s because I am used to being let down. Year after year after year.

However, I also think Wenger and his yes men (Gazidis etc) would have been visibly shaken by the fans reaction last season.

So a big part of me cannot believe they are that out of touch to increase Wenger’s already massive contract without first signing the big players this club so desperately need to challenge next season.

They must know in the own minds that will mean just be scrapping it out for 4th place with the Spuds if we don’t.

They can’t be that stupid…   …Can they? Can they?

Maybe we’ll find out today, wouldn’t Wenger have got a shock if Liverpool had said yes? If of course we actually bid.

The Cesc returns story is still out there, it would explain why no midfield players have been signed yet and Wenger did say last season that he would return one day, maybe he had this signing in mind all along?

Thing is it’s what we would all like, though some say where would he fit in?

I say anywhere, bring it on!

Leaving you on a positive note, I think the new away kit is the best one since the invincibles, top marks to Nike for that, funny isn’t it, their last kit and they do a nice job, dipsticks. We’ve been telling them since 2004 that our colours are yellow and blue and they finally listen.

Have a great day Grovers, pre-season begins soon so something has to happen!

To add some content, I just can’t see Arsenal signing Suarez. He’s too good for us – we only sign nobodies now. Plus he’s only going to go and do something stupid to get himself banned for even longer next time. If he’s only going to play 30 games a year (being banned for the rest of them) then he’s just not worth it.

  2. HENRY'S CULTURED RIGHT FOOT

Morning groovers, Nike did a nice one on that kit, am loving it..I just hope we announce the signing of a quality player as soon as possible, the fans are getting restless!!

  3. Romford Pele

Fans are already restless – it’d be nice to have at least one player announced before we leave for Asia on Friday. That in itself will act as a bit of a lift.

  4. sam

    Moaning Geoff!

Benik is better than both chamakh and sanogo
as we all know arsenal is a french farce so anyone from france will leapfrog.
he should have been our wellbeck since last summer, lets hope he’s patient and don’t try to stage a protest against mugabe.

  5. Romford Pele

You have some conspiracy theorists who are saying Arsenal are using this as a PR exercise just so they can say they bid for top players at the end of the transfer window if we end up with nobody.

  6. gazgooner

Sure can’t help but agree with those who postulate that we’ll stutter into the season proper with a few rag tag frees, a couple of awesome emerging talents (who will be loaned out never to be seen again) and of course the perennial “new signing” of one Abu Diaby. The usual lies about no one of adequate quality being available and yup, here we go again. A scrap for 4th that’s looking less and less tenable. Geez it hurts badly to be a gooner – for so long we hang on in hope, only to have those hopes dashed year after year after year – Einstein’s definition of insanity n’est-ce pas?

  7. goonerbone

The Hig never went to London for a medical… The one who needs to see a doctor is the human caterpillar! FUCK, I am angry! He and his stupid gang of twats will totally wreck this summer. Why the hell are they being paid the money we give the club? Spend, you idiots?

  8. Romford Pele

“Benik is better than both chamakh and sanogo”

No he isn’t Afobe’s done nothing to warrant the hype. Much prefer Akpom. Sanogo is scoring for fun at the U20 WC at the moment.

  9. sleepinggiant

I share your cynicism to a degree.

But do not for everybody’s sake, pretend nothing has changed this summer.

With the new sponsorship deals, Arsenal summer 2013 is a new club. In financial terms, if not in management terms, we are as different from Arsenal 2012 as Abrahamovich Chelsea is from Bates Chelsea.

It is important not to muddy the waters. Our movements (or lack of them) this summer cannot be viewed in the context of pre 2013 Arasenal. They should be measured against Chelsea, Man City and Man United’s . Arsenal 2012 could not compete with Arsenal 2013. Biggles – hes not too good for us. He may be too good for Arsene Wenger, he is most certainly not too good for Arsenal now.

And having said all that, I still don’t believe we have bid for him, But unlike the author. he is probably the first player I would sign – utter class and can play all across the front line. I would bite your hand off for him!

  10. lance peters

Sanogo is our top signing for the season.

The season ticket holders are a bunch of pricks for supporting this crap year after year. Have the balls to make a stand against the board and wenger.

They only look after their own pockets and use the fans.

  11. Hitman49

Another great read spot on as always Geoff ,

    Great to have you back.

    No they will never change.

Don’t have to do they !

We’ve all renewed our season tickets so fill up the papers with BS….

For me no change as always !!

    WENGER OUT !

  12. Bennydevito

    Morning Grovers,

It’s getting tedious isn’t it? But with the squad due to fly off to Asia at the weekend surely we’re going to announce a few signings this week? I bloody hope so…

  13. Gregg

The thought is that this may be a way of provoking Madrid into making an official bid for the sabre toothed one, however they already hold the aces and seeing as he is banned for the first two months they can take this right to the wire with Liverpool. Madrid have seen forwards they were interested in move to other clubs and they may now be thinking who can they bring in better than Higuain? Really only Suarez remains for the calibre of player they want. Lewandowski ain’t going anywhere other then Munich. They are fuckers to deal with are Madrid, even trying to get a loan player off them turns into a mega saga.

  14. sam

we cannot compete to buy trophees at least keep local boys in the team
they will fight to the end and refuse to give up, its so embarrassing the way arsenal give up so easily.
we need at least 3 more wilshere to rally the troop
sanogo should be loaned back to auxerre for a year or 2

  15. Oh Theo Theo!

Well if we do sign the mighty Barry, one grover, KJafc, offered to stand naked outside the emirates and let Grovers punch him in his AKB testicles.

Very fair offer that we should take him up on methinks.

  16. Doublegooner

Suarez story might be a made up story or even a ‘distraction’ bid, but this site mentioned it last week.

    Gareth fucking Barry !!! ??
SURELY, this is a load of made up shite too.

If it isn’t or lord help us *if* it was true then Wenger & Gazidas would deserve every attack they’d get.

  17. Gunnershabz

Here is me hoping we could sign the hig today as tomorrow is kit launch day and you know arsenal love making money shirt sales will be off the roof if they announce a big signing today especially for the Far East tour too

  18. Wallace

Afobe has spent the last 2yrs getting injured and failing to impress while out on loan. this is why he’s no longer talked about. Sanogo and Akpom both ahead of him now.

  19. Doublegooner

I’m one of the cynics Geoff refers too.

I’ll repeat again. Wenger can’t make a big decision on big players without Dein backing him up.

    He’s a ditherer.

  20. Romford Pele

“Afobe has spent the last 2yrs getting injured and failing to impress while out on loan. this is why he’s no longer talked about. Sanogo and Akpom both ahead of him now.”

    Exactly

  21. William

Have Arsenal entered the market at a late stage compared to a few years ago?Even then with the sale of Feb/Nasri etc they could have bought players ie quality not crocks like Silvester or Chamaakh coming to the end of his contract.
I fear the longer the Higuain saga drags on,Wenger may be priced out or he would refused to pay what is his market offer, Then what?
Regardless of what happens, this could be a defining season for the fm even though there are negotiations on his contract extension. If he can’t bring the gunners to challenge,I believe time has run out for him. Even Moyes has said he is unlikely to get the seven years red faced got before winning the epl. With Wenger it is now nine seasons. Surely not another year.

  22. Oh Theo Theo!

I was also reflecting at the weekend, as you do, that we shoud maybe stop refering to AKB’s as that seems like a red rag to a bull – we should perhaps call them like they are: Complacent Uncompetitive Non-arsenal Traitors.

    That’ll work better.

  23. Yiri Yiri Boum

Aren’t there more players out there?? Why can’t they look for other players at other positions. Madrid usually take their time before letting players go.

  24. Gunnershabz

Guys I honestly think we should sign Danielle de Rossi now that would make a statement to the world

  25. Gunnershabz

Also Milan have declined a bid of £30m for el shawarmy and they won’t disclose the teams name and we know how secret we are with our transfer maybe it was us

  26. Emiratesstroller

The suggestion that we are after Rooney and Suarez are both daft. I
cannot visualise buying either player who would in my view destabilise the club not just because of their wage demands, but lifestyle which leaves a lot to be desired.

I have just written a post on yesterday’s thread, which I will repeat here.

My view is that Arsenal’s current senior management are well short of
the requirements required to build a successful team. They have not
managed to complete one successful major signing after almost 2 months. Every negotiation appears to be torture in contrast to what most other clubs manage to achieve in a fraction of the time.

The idea that we are negotiating a new contract with Wenger as a priority is ridiculous. This is a manager who has not won a single trophy in 8 years! He was paid apparently more than Ferguson and that says
a lot for the psychology of the club.

Frankly the time has come for regime change

  27. razer25

Where is Callum Mcmanaman of Wigan fame??

He wud be a great addition on the wings for us. He wud be very cheap…..sell Gervinho and stick the Dynamic Winger at the wings…

  28. gilo

I think that people are finally waking up to what some of us ‘cynics’ have been saying since last season – we wont be signing anyone of note, least of all what we need to become even faintly competitive again and Wenger, Kronke, Gazidis, Chips etc are more than happy to carry on scrapping pathetically for 4th with Tottenham.

Except we wont be scrapping for 4th next season it will be for 5th, 6th and 7th, with Liverpool and Everton

  29. Reiss

Our transfer dealings are a shambles just buy Higuain and don’t go near Suarez because he hates the English media and why we are after Gareth Barry is a joke. Wenger lost the plot!

  30. sam

    Romford,

    short memory you have there.
Afobe’s been scoring for fun for arsenal since he was 9 years old.
you cannot replace him with a french mercenary, yes he’s been scoring but have you seen his big mouth, missplaced passes, moaning etc… i said we have ourself a new adebayor here.
wenger first described him as fast, you know thats a lie. you know how a fast player is like we have plenty of them here at arsenal. a boy is slow as a giraffe.
strong with good technics hmmmm we have to see about that, its all propaganda to squeeze him in the squad anyway

  31. Pascal Cygan

    DoubleGooner

He’s not dithering. He’s very clear when it comes to people who speak against him. No dithering there – Song out, Sagna probably out this year.

The game is called – who’s the biggest swinging dick of all ?

Wenger cannot let players get bigger than him. He is scared of bringing in players who are bigger than himself because then they set the agenda of the club with their ambition. Basically, he wants a bunch of yes men who will be grateful that he got them in the first place and will never question why he never gets sacked for lack of ambition.

Remember, he signed the Henrys of the world when they were not stars.

  32. Damilarey

Having hope of Arsenal signing a player of note (with Wenger in-charge) is just like the hope of Jesus coming.

I view Suarez as a better player than Higuain (Field performance only) which is the reason why I will never think of him coming to Arsenal as Arsene will never go for such a high profile player. (Hig. & Fell. doubtful too)
let’s just hope for the French junkies & the Kids.

    In Arsene we trust….. Lolz

  33. LeMassiveCoq

Higuain has been spotted riding on a giant tortoise towards London!

(unfortunately he is still near the Galapagos islands somewhere, he should make here by the time Chelsea and Citeh have run out of money)..

  34. Gunnershabz

Wenger maybe doesn’t like buying world class players as they don’t owe him for their talent shown on the world stage he likes creating superstars and then he can use the old emotional blackmail u owe me look what I done for you

  35. Romford Pele

    “short memory you have there.

He did score a lot when he was younger but when he stepped up to a decent level, he has struggled.

How can Sanogo be a mercenary? The dude has done nothing wrong as such yet. Afobe has never even played at U20 level so can’t be compared to Sanogo. I’ve seen both play and the Frenchman has a better allround game. People can say what they like about Adebayor but he was actually a very good player. Great hold up play, skillful, good in the air. The only thing that worked against him was that he was a tosser of the highest order and had a dreadful attitude. When he wants to play, it’s very hard to stop him. And Sanogo is quick so i’m not sure what you’re basing your opinion on.

As I said, go and ask most Arsenal fans who is better between Akpom and Afobe – the response will be so one-sided it’s unreal.

  36. Reiss

Okay so far we bid for Grenier, Bender,Higuain and now Suarez all rejected who does the negotiations joke. Arsenal fc the only club to take at least three weeks to complete a transfer apart from Silvestre off course.

  37. nuudles

I also call bull on the Suarez story. If we were spending anything approaching that amount we would surely go for Cesc/Rooney. In Moyes’ press conference the other day he was repeatedly asked to state categorically that Rooney has not asked for a transfer and he kept talking around the question saying rubbish like “If I was him I would stay”, clearly Rooney has not said he wants to stay, which may not mean that he definately wants to go, but I think he would be gettable.

Who in his right mind would go near Suarez if you could have Rooney for the same outlay? Yes Suarez is a great player but he is a PR disaster and I think he must be quite unsettling in the dressing room. Rooney is easily as talented plus he is a massive fan draw (not that he is a PR dream, but he seems to have matured a bit, that said even a caveman seems civilised next to the biter). Plus Rooney is more versatile as he is mighty effective in the hole.

I hope the Suarez stories are just meant to get Real to realise they better sell us Hig who stated he wants to leave. If they think he is our only option they obviously have more negotiating power, while if we hold more cards then they might be more inclined to agree with us on a price.

  38. gazzap

The bid for Suarez has happened but it doesn’t mean Arsenal want him. The bid is there to force Madrid into accepting our bid for The Hig.
The Hig is the player we really want but Real are dirty to deal with and just when it looked like the deal was done asked for another couple of million.
Wenger did not like that so has bid for the player they want this summer. I have to say top marks to Wenger, but when all’s said and done, we better not lose the hig with all this messing about. I would definitely increase the bid by a million or so, and just get it done.

  39. Gunnershabz

    Reiss

Yeah they have mades for them which is one positive but grenier they need to bid £10m to get him I won’t mind him actually

  40. Rich

Wouldn’t surprise me if we did make an opening £30mill bid for Suarez
    Suarez+Higuain would be devastating
I would go as far as £40 mill for Suarez, I would prefer Cesc, but this is the level of players we should be targeting

  41. Emiratesstroller

The message which comes across constantly is just how disillusioned an ever
growing number of fans are becoming.

Frankly I would like to see a complete regime change at club ie offloading Kroenke, the Board, Gazidis AND Wenger. So long as they remain we will continue to be an underperforming club.

  42. Reiss

We have 70 million or maybe more and we are still messing about if we were really serious we would have signed players for the Asia Tour now that is looking hugely unlikely.

  43. Oh Theo Theo!

Rich – we’re bidding for a player (Suarez) that we know they won’t sell to a prem rival…

  44. The Hig

Morning guys. Sad day for supporters, we all thought i’d be a Gunner today, sadly not. I was in London all week and weekend and decided I want to train in Spain today.

  45. Simon

Are you sure you really formally bid £30,000,000 if you are not interested and have to work with that club in the future? £30,000,000 as a dare?

  46. Gregg

Until Madrid have an agreement for a replacement, they ain’t letting Higuain come. We cannot do anymore to alter that. We have to sit and wait. They missed out on Neymar, Cavani, Falcao & lewandowski and I should imagine that has somewhat dented their pride. They are certainly not going into next year with just Benzema as a number 9. On this occasion we cannot influence their next move. I would guess Suarez is the least of the targets they originally wanted so I don’t see them busting a gut anytime soon to get him. he will not be the marquee signing in their fans eyes. We can blame Gazidas/Wenger and co for plenty of things but they cannot do anymore on this one. The only alternative is to say bollox and look elsewhere.

  47. Romford Pele

“we’re bidding for a player (Suarez) that we know they won’t sell to a prem rival…”

Money talks. Didn’t stop Torres from moving to Chelsea. Not that I think we’ll get Suarez mind you.

  48. Romford Pele

Gregg – I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Madrid are still the biggest club out there and can pull anyone if they offer the money. Suarez is the most realistic target now you could say, but the Cavani to PSG deal isn’t done yet.

  49. leon

I’m no fan of wenger at all but there is no dought that wenger has put down bid simply because it was comfirmed by sky sports and lets be honest if there was any truth to romours that madrid rejected any offers it would have been confirmed on sky or bbc .i dought wenger but in a bid for sourez i suspect its story put out by his agent

  50. David Williams

I bet it smells really fishy around there but I don’t think the bid will go higher though.

  51. Rich

I would take Suarez over Rooney without a doubt, talk of Rooney struggling with weight and Smoking, never any whispers of Suarez’s conduct away from the pitch
He’s got that edge I love in a player, his comments after his handball at the World Cup say it all, this guy loaths to lose, and IMO is a bigger talent than Rooney

  52. The Hig

If Wenger really wants to sign a player he would’ve done so in June. Podolski was signed before the season closed. I don’t believe the bullshyt that flying around, Giroud will be the Striker come next season simply cos “It was his first season in the Prem, He’ll be better next season”.

  53. Reiss

Why are people saying we will buy two strikers we will buy one at most, and if the story is true about us bidding for Suarez to upset Real Madrid then again why are we messing about over a couple of million that is how we lost Mata and supposedly Alonso.

  54. bnsb

Andy Murray beat twitter record, also won Wimbledon to become the first Brit to win in 77 years.

Funny too many people here are going mental after just 8 🙂

  55. Mask of Zorro

Wenger must always be seen to be overachieving, that is why he would never sign any player of note! say, he signs three players @20m each and comes fourth at end, even the AKBs or C.U.N.Ts would start asking questions. so it ain’t gonna happen.

  56. nuudles

The Hig is not the only CF in the world who would surely improve our chances. Soldado and Benteke are surely gettable… I also doubt Lukaku will be in Jose’s short term plans so a decent bid might bag us him (if they will sell to competitors). If City manage to get someone like Cavani then Dzeko might also be gettable, but he is quite like Giroud, probably a bit more clynical but a bit more lazy.

  57. Gregg

Romford – Agree with that but the targets they supposedly wanted are all gone or in the final part of an agreement of going. who else out there would they want, who they’d consider is better than Higuain ? Cavani, according to ESPN yesterday has agreed the deal. My point I guess is that if they want Suarez & he wants them then they can take it all the way to 31st August as they’re not desperate for him. Either way we are wholly dependent on them lining up his replacement so even if we sign Higuain, my guess will be we’ll already be a couple of games into the season. This will not be resolved anytime soon

  58. Phallusaurus

    1. He has very clearly & publicly stated that he wishes to leave Madrid.
    2. Madrid have very clearly & publicly stated that he can leave.
    3. We are just about the only team still in for him after Juve moved on.
    4. We go on our pre season tour at the end of this week, with no new names .
    5. Contract extension negotiations with Wenger are somehow being muted.

Yet we still aint signed Higuain up, how is this even possible ffs?! The level of incompetence is staggering. Big club my arse!!

A player swap + cash with Spuds for Bale aint happening apparently………yet all the while Madrid play with us & up Higs value. Hmmmmm!

  59. Josip Skoblar

Higuain update — He never came to London last week. These were just media rumours. He’s in Madrid and is to meet with Ancelotti this week or next to discuss his future at the club. He – we – should know whether he is staying in Madrid or leaving (to Arsenal) by 15 July, when Real start training again.
There has been so much media rubbish about Higuain over the past weeks. It beggars belief.
    http://www.marca.com/2013/07/07/futbol/equipos/real_madrid/1373183168.html

  60. gilo

With any dictator, their removal is always bloody, traumatic and difficult but when it finally happens there is much rejoicing.

Thus it will be with Wenger

  61. sam

    Ok Romford!

lets just hope you all don’t fucking moan when the liar finally reveals his summer plan.
first he will deny he tried to buy higuain then use Yaya Sanogo’s name as the man he really needed so no more striker this summer.
under20 tournment also helped the propaganda now you are all brainwashed that we have a new anelka and he’s free.

  62. Ash79

I’ve said for ages, when he was at Ajax, we should have signed him. Suarez, Rooney and Higuain? Come now Arsene, you really think we are that stupid?

Bet there are a large percentage of fans creaming themselves into believing the bid was serious and we have finally joined the big time in the transfer market.

Someone made a good point that Suarez is banned for 2 months so Real could wait till the final minute to get him as there’s no rush..however that is a problem for us as Higgy won’t be released.

    I’d have Suarez over higuain.

  63. andy1886

As hard as it is to say anything in defence of AW I’m kinda wondering if we haven’t already agreed the deal for The Hig and are waiting to announce it just before we set off for Asia so as to maximise the excitment when we arrive. Marketing people think like that (ask Pedro!). So it may not be Wenger’s fault if that’s the case.

On the other hand it could all be the usual Arsenal incompetence of course…

  64. Johnty79

This is typical wenger…he’s learned a new trick now…go for players you have no chance of signing….the problem of offering 30m for higuain is now Madrid think we r short changing them….expect all transfer targets to fail…

Why no one has bought Felaini is beyond me..

  65. Paddy got up

    All a load of bollocks…
Keep going Wenger and co. keep treeting people as mugs.
And when that stadium empties and the hoorays fuck off( and they surely will) the club will panic and go back to the real working class fan base who can’t afford to get in to see this shit even if they wanted too.
So keep going Arsene I’m right behind you fella!!!

  66. Reiss

Typical Wenger go for unrealistic targets and then say I tried he never learns and how the board are even thinking of extending his contract is a joke.

  67. Romford Pele

    Sam,

I’m not trying to say Sanogo is going to be the next big thing. All i’m saying is that he’s better than Afobe.

  68. The Hig

Higuain’s clinical finishing and penchant for being at the right place anytime is why HE is the striker we need. Not some other’s who are said to be as good.

  69. Romford Pele

“As it stands spurs will finish ahead of us next season…villa and paulinho plus a fit Sandro means we r in trouble…”

I’m sure the same people have been saying similar things for the last two seasons.

  70. Reiss

The situation with Higuain is simple they don’t give him the captains armband in their last game of the season for no reason Real Madrid have known that he is on their way for ages.

  71. The Hig

Everybodys on about this Suarez bid, Wengers plan has worked I see. Deterring everyone away from The Hig to complete the deal in peace. lol. Don’t we wish.

  72. Foreheadinho

1 week into the Transfer window and it’s time for a protest. That might be funny or stupid if the cynicism and negativity wasn’t so well earned over the past years.

  73. Doublegooner

    Pascal Cygan:

I totally agree with you about Wenger not going for players who have an opinion or a bit of spirit. He can’t handle these players. He needs yesmen nowadays.

However, he is a ditherer too. Dein pushed him on occasions to sign players when he couldn’t make his mind up….Think one Sol Campbell in 2001.

I also happen to think Wenger is not a main ‘draw’ he was a few years for players to rush to play for us.

Thats why it will take a a massive jump from Wenger & Gazidas to stop fucking about muttering ‘we have money’ blah blah & FUCKING show intent & DO IT.

  74. Phallusaurus

Suarez – Higuain swap deal perhaps?

Liverpool WILL back their manager and he WILL want a quality replacement.

2 things we cannot say about our thieving lot!

We have money, honestly we tried, yet we sign fuckall of note ( Santi was the exception). Same rinse repeat every bloody year! Yet somehow it’s accepted.

  75. andy1886

Johnty, I agree, why Fellaini is still at Everton is a completye mystery.

Would give us a complete new dimension and also free up Jack to play a bit more.

Come on Wenger, pull your finger out!!

  76. Gunneronabeach

Wow, SUAREZ? In footballing terms it would be an awesome addition. Can he shed the crap he’s managed to bring on himself, another story. This could very well be a negotiating tactic, but I seem to recall, it’s not the first time we’ve gone big on a Liverpool player, Reina comes immediately to mind.

Like everyone else I’m restless and anxious to see which direction we take this summer, I sincerely believe AW has no choice but to go big, and that does not include the new French kid.

I keep reminding myself its only July 8, so just relax on this beach, have a beer or two, until the deluge of signings start…….

  77. The Hig

Yeah, we’ll probably do our business in January. When we fucked in all competitions and fighting for 4th. COYG!!!!

  78. Romford Pele

    Phallusaurus,

Higuain wants CL footie – L’Pool can’t even offer him Europa. It’s a non-starter. Plus we’ll blow them out of the water wages wise.

  79. Adam A Carbarundum

All to plan. Wenger appears to be making bids, real or rumour, but all are rejected. In the end he says he tried but to no avail. The board continues to hoard the cash and laughs at the suckers, I mean supportes, and nothing changes as we continue to cling to false hope like a child to candy. It’s all going to plan and we, the dumbshits, know it but choose to do nothing , like every year before. This is our team, because we let it get this way. Nothing more need to be said. All to plan.

  80. Doublegooner

    Foreheadinho:

With the exception of a couple of thousand with BCM, We don’t have the right fans to do a demo.

You may be new here but I spent 9/12months rallying for it. Had about 50 email replies but when I started suggesting meeting dates last summer, only about half a dozen were really committed.

Still, come the start of the season, if not top players have joined then Wenger & Gazidas will deserve every bit of anger that I’ll be coming their way.

We’ve got Gazidas wetting himeslf about offering Wenger a new contract.

    The message should be;

Gazidas. FUCK OFF with the Spin Doctoring Shite. Show some bollox you & get the big players in you say we’ll have.

  81. Figoxor

It makes sense, for the hopeful one at least, that all this period of silence and calm has been just to bring Higuain and Fabregas in the same train, literally. Well, not literally, that’s ridiculous. The failure of Spain v Brazil some weeks ago, contrasted with the superb performance of Thiago Alcantara with the U21, and despite Fabregas own performance might have shown him that this is the place where “he will be loved”(8).

and aren’t conmen the biggest suckers?

  83. Gregg

    @Reiss

I hear what you’re saying but Madrid are one arrogant bunch of fuckers and at the time they did that they probably wouldn’t have thought that two months on, all the players that they presumed would be ‘honoured’ to sign for them, have all gone/going elsewhere. They only have Suarez left and i’d guess he would have been bottom of their original list. The Madrid ego has been well and truly dented this summer, none moreso than neymar going to their rivals for considerably less than they were offering for him.

  84. Jim Lahey

One of the funniest things to come out of the whole Suarez to Arsenal tripe is the reaction of the Liverpool fans. They are stunned, can’t understand why he would take a step down and join Arsenal… We may be yearning for past glories.. But we’re not still living them! They still think its the 1980s! They haven’t won the league in 23 years, and the closest they have come in that time is 2nd on only 3 occasions.. They don’t even have Europa League football next year.

Now I could understand this if it was all coming from older folk who lived the glory days of the 80s, but its not, most of it is from kids who weren’t alive the last time Liverpool won the league! Where is their enormous sense of worth coming from?

In terms of which club is bigger? Its not even close. We have the Stadium, the money and the football. All they have left is memories.

A more deluded fan base in football there in not!

  85. nuudles

@andy, hopefully true. The PR department are probably timing things to keep the excitement as high as possible for as long as possible. So we launch the away kit tomorrow, and hopefully we can dot all the i’s and cross all the t’s on Hig’s contract to reveal him by say Thursday or Friday latest, and then the hype train continues as we tour, with hopefully another big signing by the time we arrive back (before Emirates Cup).

  86. Romford Pele

Jim – I agree. Liverpool fans are talking like they have a better team than us. Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez aside, that team leaves a lot to be desired – especially when they’ve spent £20m each on players like Downing and Henderson.

  87. Figoxor

I forgot to add Neymar and all the abusive football he shown just before arriving to Barcelona. Frabregas won’t start unless there is an injury. So, if Wenger went to him, talked him about Higuain, Fellaini, and some other mates of that level to form a real and serious project around him, he might just be preparing to leave this same week for us. No, mom please, I don’t wanna wake up. I refuse to open my eyes!

  88. Ryan

All this talk about finishing out the top 4 is premature, season ain’t even started! Calm down peeps. I’m frustrated also but the window has only just opened and deals for players take time. It only happens quick if you have endless resources like you know who’s. As we dont have endless resources we have to think! We’re trying to get the best deals possible and so are the selling clubs! This ain’t playstation. We’re talking big and real monies. Chill ya batty.

  89. Figoxor

    Romford,

I’m a romantic, but in this case I was just making fun of the situation. I learnt my lesson 2 years ago, and retook it last year, as most of you did. I just wanna see what’s next with this charade, and welcome the newcomer. Shall I call them the seed to the fruits that will one day be sold?

  90. vicky

Cesc Fabregas was a 40m player when he was playing for us.

But his tantrums and constant pressure on the management forced us to sell him for 30m.

RVP – again a 30-32 million player but the fact that he was in the last year of his contract and that he openly criticized the club meant we had to sell him for 24m.

Cazorla sold for 15-16m but his valuation must be around 25m when we bought him.

SO the moot point is players do get sold for less than their market valuation.

IMO Suarez is in a similar sort of situation. He wants CL. Now outside England RM is the only possible suitor.

Bayern will have Lewi next season,Barca bought Neymar,PSG are close to signing Cavani. Seria A teams have not got any money.

So If RM do not sign him,he will be condemned to play in the EPL.
In that case why not a CL team ???

So all this talk about 30m being ridiculously low is bollocks.
A situation may arise where Scousers may be forced to sell him for 35-38m.

So IF and a big IF, we have made a 30m bid, that is not bad for an initial bid.

But chances are us making that high a bid is very very low

. But the management can not be slated for bidding “only 30m” in case you believe they have made a bid.

  91. nuudles

It just makes so much sense to make our big signing before we go on tour. Apart from Santi & Monreal all the big first team players are going, what better way to integrate a new player into the team than taking him with on tour where the players will spend more time together than is usually the case? Also prime opportunity to play the new player with his new team mates in low importance and lower intensity games so they can start to get to know each other and build up an understanding.

  92. PhilF

The only ambition this club has is to maximise its’ profits. Trophies and the supporters (who I believe are held in contempt by some board members) are not even remotely important. Wenger gives the board maximum return with minimum investment, so he is well worth 7.5 mill in their opinion. It’s just us mugs that suffer…. same shit different day!

  93. nuudles

@vicky, it is all about supply and demand, Cesc went for a comparitively low figure considering his worth because he only wanted to go to Barca. It matters little that he is worth more than that because even if say PSG or Chelsea came in with an offer for double that he would not have cared, as evidence by the fact that he took a pay cut to go to Barca…

RvP only really had 2 options beside staying and they were ManU & ManCity… He chose ManU because of SAF and therefore the fee was also a bit lower than he is worth. Remember that he is a player with a poor injury record, he is in or very close to past his prime, so what we got for him is probably fair, especially considering he only had one year left on his contract.

You point to those two, I could point to Adebayor, Anelka, Kolo, Overmars & Nasri as prime examples of us getting way more than the players are worth (among others). So yes, in some cases we get a bit less than what the players are worth and in others we get more, it is all because of demand and supply, which is not nearly as logical as it should be.

  94. Knightmoves

Don’t let the fact that he is English blind you. Afobe has done nothing to warrant the hype around him. Sanogo is banging in goals at the U-20 World Cup. I for one am glad we got Sanogo. The boy looks decisive in front of goal.

  95. nuudles

@vicky, I also dont thing RM is Suarez’ only option: why would say Napoli not be interested? If they sell Cavani then Suarez will be easily gettable for them, they have CL, I think they are a bit more ignorant of thuggishness (no offence but it looks like quite a hard city, so he might fit straight in).

Similarly Atletico sold Falcao so they will have more than enough to get Suarez if they want him, they finished 3rd in La Liga so they have CL.

  96. Jimmythegun

    Morning all,

Can’t get my head around the Suarez bid at all – I agree with certain elements of a number of people’s conspiracy theories, but f*ck knows whats going on…

One thing I am sure of is that I’d rather Wenger signed the entire France under 10’s squad than GARETH F*CKING BARRY!!!!!

  97. DUIFG

If this story has a grain of truth I cant see how weng is happy to spend 3o mil on suarez but not 24 on fellaini, the value in that fellaini transfer is unreal.

  98. progman07

For anyone who doesn’t want Suarez to come because of his antics – Giggs had an affair with his brother’s wife, yet I don’t see the media constantly attacking him for that, which in my opinion is worse than biting someone in the arm. At least I’m pretty sure I’d rather be bitten than getting my marriage f*cked up by my brother. Is he a racist? Probably not, you don’t need to be a racist to hate Evra.

Suarez isn’t the nicest guy around, but it’s a bit overhyped, as it suits the media. Not that he will come anyways, our supposed bid is a joke and even if we did it we probably won’t pay 40-50m for him.

  99. DUIFG

Nuddles athletico only owned a tiny portrion of falcao, they were pretty much only loaning him so i would not expecxt any moves off them this summer.

  100. nuudles

@fixogor, good point: with Neymar’s arrival Cesc’s starts are unlikely to increase except if Xavi is injured/rested a lot more. Even then Xavi’s role is no longer Cesc’s best position (as it is too deep in my book). With Messi and Neymar occupying two of the front three and probably with Pedro & Sanchez fighting it out for the remaining wing spot. Xavi, Biscuit & Iniesta form the most likely midfield trio. Cesc will only start if Iniesta start on the wing ahead of Pedro & Sanchez and if Xavi (or Iniesta) is rested.

  101. Gregg

Little mention of our supposed continued interest in Matthias Ginter, part of the reason we let Coquelin go there perhaps ?

  102. Gregg

Actually I wish I had my own blog; Coquelin has gone to Freiburg, Ginter will be bought by Leverkusen and they will accept a £20m bid form Arsenal. Cue story exclusive in the Mail tommorow

  103. leon

There seems to be an assumtion that arsenal put in bid for suarez none of this has been comfirmed by liverpool via sky sports and there going to alot more romours floading throughout the summer the sky sports and bbc sports any confirm all bids or rejected bids or players signed and unless you here from it pretty much bull shit

“IMO Suarez is in a similar sort of situation. He wants CL. Now outside England RM is the only possible suitor.”

This is exactly the point, I think it’s politics. Seems RM are being complete fucking nob jockeys on agreeing the price, RM want Suarez, so AFC are saying sell us Hig or we’ll go buy your man. Only, the problem is, Suarez doesn’t want to stay in England so it’s all rather hollow really. It’s a bit like threatening to snog yer sister to make a girl jealous …

I don’t think they care one iota what the fans think so that is not a factor. I hope all those stories about us wanting to compete and having the money to do so, don’t turn out to be another load of PR spin designed to con the fans again but I am begining to fear it may be.
Also what happened to FFP. No way PSG or Monaco have the turnover to cover their spending, what are UEFA going to do about them?

out of all the alleged transfer targets fellaini would be my first choice but i cant seeit happening ,surely if arsenal did want him it would be done by now.would love suarez at arsenal, his work rate and win at all costs attitude outweighs the negative things thatsurround him, cant see this one happening either

  113. Highbury

We’ve had patience for the last 8 years so one week in July is nothing…let’s wait and see although I cant see no light at the end of this longest tunnel ever!

  114. Ashwin Gunner

Among all the transfer windows this one is the most frustating. In all the previous ones, we knew Wenger doesn;t have money. We knew our best players wont stay. We were just anxious if Wenger could persuade them to stay.

But in this window, He has money to spend, Nobody is threatening to leave. Then why are no players still in….

Where is Higuain. Were we really interested in him? Have we actually bid for him? What is stopping him from coming to London.

What happened to Fellani. Why does Wenger show only intertest and no money…..

Its getting frustating by the day,. We all were expecting Arsenal.com to announce Higuain’s signature when window opened last Monday. But till now we only see some pictures of emirates and interviews by players in academy.

Why doesn;t Wenger understand that his squad is shit and has to be improved. All we can do is to fight for top 4 with Spurs.

  115. Romford Pele

“his work rate and win at all costs attitude outweighs the negative things ”

No it doesn’t. His work rate counts for nothing if he’s missing in excess of 10 games a season due to him being a racist and cannibal.

  116. Dan

    Foreheed

‘1 week into the Transfer window and it’s time for a protest.’

Bit drastic wouldnt you say? If it comes to the last week of the window and there has been no movement then fair play…go fucking mental cos thats what Il be feeling like. Fed a load of shit and not delivering on any promises like we have seen before.

But until then I choose to believe we’ll sign these top players out in the window, ideally before the tour, if not who gives a shit we still have games in pre season after the tour for integration.

  117. Romford Pele

“his work rate and win at all costs attitude outweighs the negative things”

No it doesn’t. His work rate will count for nothing if he’s missing 10+ games a season due to being a racist and cannibal.

  118. Reiss

I know we shouldn’t panic because it is early in the transfer window but are we the only club who hasn’t done any business in the transfer window? Even Swansea are spending quite a lot of money.
