Swansea come to town | Fan march planned | Our best back 4 starts

by & filed under Match Preview.

Good morning Grovers! A super quick one from me this morning as I’m attending a wedding today. Amazing how many people are selfish enough to book these things on the days Arsenal play? Don’t worry though, I’ll raise my concerns when delivering the best mans speech.

Onto the game today, we play host to a Swansea team who are more than capable of taking us on with deep lying possession football and attacking flair. Swansea joined the Premiership and showed you can survive playing the game in the right way, which had been a total breath of fresh air.

I’ve been told the referee for today is Clattenburg. It’s his first game since the Chelsea accusations. The email i received suggested we give him a warm reception. 1) because he was treated in horrendous fashion by Chelsea 2) win some brownie points init?

Team news looks interesting, No Koscielny and possibly no Sagna. That’ll mean a back 4 similar to the one that started the season so positively. It’ll be good to see Jenks back in the side and it’d be nice to see if Vermaelen can have a respectable game at the back.

Up top, Gervinho is rumoured to be starting. Giroud picks up a rest after playing most of our games of late. Swansea aren’t a physical team, so if there’s a game suited to the Ivorian, it’s this one. Which guy will turn up? The free scoring early season Gervinho, or the the one that struggles to stay on his feet longer than 13 seconds!

Today is about turning an unbeaten run into a wining run. The table doesn’t lie and to be nearly into December and a million miles away from our rivals… well, it tells an all too familiar depressing story. Points mean prizes. The boys need to click today and someone needs to start shooting. You don’t score if you don’t shoot.

Before the game, there’s a BSM march to the ground. It’ll be interesting to see how well attended it is. Send me some pictures if anyone heads over there. I’ve met a load of the guys from the movement. All top chaps. I’m still not sure their purpose is clear, kicking greed out of football is like trying to kick fatty food off the McDonald’s menu. Anyway, I’ll never knock someone for doing something proactive if they feel its for the good of the club.

Have a great day!

Paulinho – That’s bullshit though isn’t it, we’re only now reaching the point where we can push on again through what the club earns. Spending to get back to where we were a year, two years, three years ago.

When back then you were moaning about why we weren’t winning titles.

  2. N21Tone

I just got home from watching that shit. No fight, no commitment, no heart. Is it down to the players or the manager or the board. You choose. I know TA6 would never have let a team be that lazy on the pitch. No leaders anywhere at our club. Not on the pitch, not in the dugout, not in the stadium.

  3. Keyser

“Well the point is Wenger was buying experienced shite that was clogging up the squad long before he supposedly ‘gave up’.”

Along with quality players that had potential to be something better than what we have now. What were you expecting ? You never thought Van Persie would be top draw, but were hoping for us to 2-3 strikers just like him.

  4. Paulinho

Keyser – What’s bullshit, that a new manager would be come in get this team creating more than 1.5 chances a game?

What about Podolski, Cazorla, Giroud? What’s Wenger doing with the players that he’s already bought on our way back to the promised land of where we were a couple of years ago?

Not much by the looks of it.

  5. BOOZY

Best arsenal back 4 just showed why it is.

And a lot of people here owe song an apology.

‘ arteta made song look good last season’ …. YEAH.

  6. Darkins

Only one way the fans can change this! Stop attending home games and stop buying the shirts. Simple!

Why would you pay good money to watch that crap anyway.

  7. Leedsgunner

Missed the game… came in from a busy day of family commitments…

    WHAT THE F*** HAPPENED?!?!

Was Wenger playing for the draw (so that he can hide behind the claim of we’re unbeaten in “x” number of games what are we complaining about?!) — it looks like he was….

If so, although I’m NEVER happy at an Arsenal loss, in a way, Wenger’s arrogance and complacency has caught up with him today… did Gervinho miss a chance even Heskey would have scored? Match day report to

Silent Stan, I know you’re a man of a few words, but dare you to say the following…

    “Arsene, you’re fired.”

    then follow it with,

    “Pep, you’re hired.”

Dear Arsene, I just have one thing to say to you…

YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING.

  8. Paulinho

“Along with quality players that had potential to be something better than what we have now”

I think Fabregas may have preferred Arteta to Squillaci funnily enough.

  9. Keyser

Paulinho – The bullshit bit was you making out that this suddenly means a new manager would’ve made all the difference, when it’s only now we’ve had anything substantial announced in terms of funds.

A new manager might get them to hit a target of 2 chances created per game, it’s not going to win us a title is i.

And Arteta to Squllaci ? Come on mate, though Fabregas has ended up back playing with Song, heh.

  10. gambon

    Royal Cuntface

I never backed out of anything. I made the offer, 3 or 4 people took me up on it.

    Where are they now?

  11. Lordbergkamp

How do AKBs sleep at night?

It is THEIR fault that we’re in this situation, the lack of reality, the mindless adoration of a senile Frenchman has laid this once great club into complete mediocrity.

I hope they all get herpes.

  12. Paulinho

    Gervinho £11 million

    Ox-Chamberlain – £15 million

    Podolski -£12 million

    Giroud – £13 million

    Cazorla – £16 million

That’s 67 million pounds spent over the last two years.

So it’s only now Wenger has had significant funds to spend?

  13. Lordbergkamp

Gambon, you totally and utterly bricked it over the bets.

Ran away screaming like a little girl!

Wag wah wah, was the only noise coming out of your mouth.

  14. Paulinho

“A new manager might get them to hit a target of 2 chances created per game, it’s not going to win us a title is it”

Well your hero Arsene can’t even do that can he?

    That was the point.

  15. gambon

Lol, how funny that cunts like Lordbergkamp are coming on slagging off AKBs, when thats exactly what they have been for the last 3 years.

    Stupid twats.

  16. Keyser

    Paulinho –

    Fabregas – 40 million.
    Van Persie – 24 million.
    Nasri – 25 million.
    Adebayor – 25 million

and we needed to add to those players not buy replacements, come on use your head.

We needed a 150 million cash boost back then.

  17. Hunter

Your Comment HereOnly One word to describe this shite game…..HUMILIATION…..on a grand scale. The laughing stock of the premier league,we have a GUTLESS,SPINELESS,USELESS and CLUELESS team and Manager,a disgrace to the badge of AFC.

  18. Gunner2301

I take it we lost then?

Didn’t see the match, but some people sound surprised. WTF

There are many teams that are playing better football than us. Too many people have been listening to the media hype about us being the best passing team blah blah blah, I;ve heard them saying it this season and we’ve been shit. It’s a cliche nothing else.

WE HAVE NOT BEEN GOOD SINCE FABREGAS, HLEB, FLAMINI. Everything since then has been propaganda, illusion and bullshit and most people have bought into it to the point Arsene himself believes his own shit. The best squad he’s ever had? Maybe the best rent-boy squad for sucking you off Arsene, but not for playing football.

WENGER THE CUNT OUT -I HOPE THEY CRUCIFY HIM NOW AND HOUND HIM OUT!

  19. Keyser

Paulinho – Wtf’s the point of that ? You’re saying a new manager is all we needed.

LoL, so basically there is a point to a new manager it’s not to win games or titles or get us back to where we were, but to create 0.5 chances more.

  20. Paulinho

Keyser – Doesn’t matter who they’re replacing, they’re not exactly top class are they?

Let’s look at your future dream team with all the new signings and players that Wenger signed which did not indicate he had ‘given up’.

    ————Sszcesny—————

    Sagna—Kolscieny—Vermaelen—-Gibbs

    ————-Defensive midfielder———

    ————Cazorla——Wilshere———

    Walcott———————————-Podolski

    ———————-Giroud——————–

So that leaves room for one player, to take Arteta’s position in the first team.

So basically according to you all Wenger needs to do is buy one athletic defensive midfielder and there will be no excuses.

  21. Arsene's Nurse

Arsenal are no longer feared, the other teams know we are there for the taking They also know how to stop us playing. We are far too slow in moving the ball and our movement off the ball is cack,

Without Szczesny pulling off a few good saves this could have been 4-0. We are fucked, the wage bill is too high for a club that cannot guarantee CL qualification. If we go out the CL then we are going to have to slash the number of pros on the books.

What will be ironic is we’ll make a profit this year and Gazidis will get his bonus even if we finish 10th. The whole club if fucked.

  22. Gunner2301

RVP must be sitting back laughing his cock off. How many players do you think are considering jumping ship if this shit continues? We may well be in a position by the Summer that we can’t even bring in quality if we were prepared to pay for it. Arsenal is becoming like a leper colony. Not a nice place to be unless you’re a leper yourself.

  23. Paulinho

“Paulinho – Wtf’s the point of that ? You’re saying a new manager is all we needed.”

The point was pretty obvious wasn’t it? You’rer blaming City and Chelsea and Oligarchs for why can’t win titles, but we can’t even create more than two chances against the likes of Swansea and Villa. Can we not compete financially against them either?

  24. Leedsgunner

    Double @1833

Arsenal Fan: M. Wenger, if you really love Arsenal Football Club as you say you do, don’t you think it’s time for you to call it a day. To do the right thing and tender your resignation? Haven’t you taken the footabll as far as you can? (In fact, couldn’t it be argued since the Champions League Final of 2006, the club has gone backwards?

    Arsene Wenger:… “Fuck off pleb.”

  25. kwik fit

I do think we are all over reacting just a tad. It wasn’t really that bad. The team was in it right up to the 88th min. They put in a sterling performance especially in the second half. It looked for all the world we would nick it. The substitutions almost worked . I particularly enjoyed the subtle change in tactics the le boss deployed midway through. It almost paid dividends. On another day we could have won by three or four. Jolly good show and well played guys. Can’t wait for next week.

  26. Cesc Appeal

AKB’s really are scraping the barrel now….

It’s the fans fault for getting on Wenger’s back….a £7 Million a year manager can’t handle being told exactly what he is by the fans? YESSSSS ‘that’s’ the problem.

    Fuck sake.

    Usmanov please hurry up!

Get Darren Dein in, some footballing men on that board, a manager with some balls so he can right the wrongs in the January window and snatch fourth/third back this fucked up term and play for the league next year.

Even IF a new direction was in place by January I think we’re out of any kind of running for ANYTHING this year.

Wenger looks broke, his team isn’t playing for him. Watching United they look like footballers, the Arsenal players just don’t – they run around without a clue how to win a match.

We use to win through pure class, we didn’t win because we knew how. I feel like Wenger has never had the formula to win.

Wenger needs a great team to win, Fergie can win with a few quality players and then a bunch of average players he makes work their arses off.

Replacing Wenger won’t change anything though. The board will look for a like for like – the board and cowboy need to go as well.

  27. WengersSweeties

People slagging off gambon need to shut the fuck up.

Everything he and I have said since 2009 has come home to roost.

Now fuck off to another Wenger loving blog!

We had a chance to be a major force in this cunting league discussion but Wenger has fleeced the fans.

    What a prize cunt!!!

    WENGER OUT!! CUNT!!!!

  28. Keyser

Paulinho – “Doesn’t matter who they’re replacing, they’re not exactly top class are they?”

Yeah, exactly you nutter, instead of spending 60-70 million on desperation buys, that are inferior to what you had, if the whole point is to bide time until you renew sponsorship deals, keep it and blood whatever players you think have the potential.

Who were Giroud and Podolski replacing anyway ? Cazorla we bid for last year I think so there was already interest.

The point isn’t obvious is it, how the fuck are you basing what we created against Swansea, as an indictment of 7 years ? Or what period are you going for ?!

I told you last summer before the desperation of the last week or so was the turning point.

  29. BOOZY

Laudraup is a brave manager, when i saw the rugby training in the press, i knew he was bringing the opposite to the emirate.
We were schooled in our own game, by a team that was in the championship two years ago.

Any sensible manager by now would have the blueprint of how to hold arsenal.

but laudraup threw the blueprint away and beat us at our own game.

  30. Paulinho

Keyser – And yet these buys that were supposedly not desperation buys are not doing a whole lot better are they?

You’re talking about Wenger being given more funds, but yet what room is there to maneuver? Arteta and that’s it. Aside from that first X1 there is also Ramsey, Chamberlain to fit in as well. C’mon, use your brain a bit.

“The point isn’t obvious is it, how the fuck are you basing what we created against Swansea, as an indictment of 7 years ? Or what period are you going for ?!”

Well, we’re getting worse aren’t we? That’s what Wenger has led us to with his poor management. Basing it just on Swansea? I think I mentioned Villa as well. How many chances did we create against Norwich. How much more a sample of shit teams do you want?

  31. IvoryGoonz

right now I’d take Eeyore, he’d be more consistant. even a donkey is less stubborn.
check his interview on pravda.com, another beautiful piece from a man who’s lost it completely long time ago, and still manages to bullshit his way out of an interview

  32. IvoryGoonz

We can’t win at home against a team that could be our feeder club because the squad is jaded. talk again about training methods and squad depth shall we?
Arsene, get the fuck out of the Arsenal.
the joke has gone for too long.

  33. gazzap

Does Wenger still think we are in the title race? The deluded twat. 15 points behind after 15 games. Worst under wenger.
How bad will it have to get before he goes. Honestly don’t see us finishing top 4. My worry is that the twat will try and hang on anyway.
Please get some banners up next week. WENGER OUT!

  34. kwik fit

He said: “We are in this job to turn things around, and I am confident we will [because of] the quality of the players and the spirit we have in the team. It is a good moment to stick together.
‘I am not so much worried about [league] places, even if that is not the place you want to be, but I believe what is important is we get the quality of our game back. Then the places change.’
Wenger turned 63 last month, but insisted there were no thoughts of calling time on his Arsenal career as he looks to guide the club back to winning ways.
‘You make your assessment at the end of the season, as I said many times,” the Arsenal boss stressed.
‘I know that at the moment, you get some good news from everywhere because there is a lot of unrest everywhere.
‘I believe it is a good opportunity to stick together and show we are a strong club.’
Wenger maintained he can empathise with the frustrations of supporters, but refused to be drawn on the pre-match protests.
‘It is more down to shareholders and that is not my job,’ he said.

Some great ones in there guys. Tosser!

  35. The Legend That Is Dennis Bergkamp

This is Arsenal’s worst start to a Premier League season under Arsene Wenger.

    Cunt ! That is all.

  36. Arsenal1886-2006

I have seen some poor teams in my time, but never have I seen a team with no fight. Absolute disgrace from a bunch of well paid professional footballers, they obviously have little to no confidence in their manager.

  37. Gunner2301

    Paulinhio 18:38

There’s nobody in that team I would take if I had to assemble a team to try to win the PL maybe Wilshire (at his best).

That’s where the problem lies. This is Wengers misinterpretation of what is required based on his own warped values.

Any new manager coming in has a job on his hands. He could probably get this team playing better so they are not such an embarrassment but major surgery is needed. The shit Wenger has assembled needs to be swept aside and we need to start again and that;s not even looking through the squad players who offer fuck all but drain the Club of resources.

  38. kwik fit

Cheer up guys …were only 3 months away from our first trophy in eight year’s 🙂
Wouldn’t it be great if it was Wenger’s replacement that won it!

  39. gambon

Steve Stammers is such a wenger apologist cunt.

“All very well blaming Wenger, but one or two players need to look at their own contributions”

Erm, Steve you prick, who bought these players, who pays them silly wages, who picks them, who (fails to) train them, who refuses to drop them regardless of how badly they do, who tells the world how great they are even after a defeat?

Im sorry but anyoen would think we lost to Barca today.

Do these cunts realise we have failed to beat Stoke, Sunderland, Villa, Norwich, Fulham & Swansea this year, while scraping past QPR thanks to a red card?

  40. Cesc Appeal

    Boozy

    You beat me to that!

Watch this week, Cavani, Gotze, Falcao the lot will be brought out as information is ‘leaked’ from Arsenal…load of bollocks.

    Wenger, Gazidis, Kroenke OUT!

  41. Paulinho

Gunner2301 – He just hasn’t got a clue anymore. He makes sense the odd time but his actions basically tells you that overall he’s clueless.

  42. Keyser

Paulinho – The turning point was in summer 2011, sorry that’d make it last to last summer ?!

Song’s still there as is Van Persie, we haven’t bought Giroud or Podolski yet, it doesn’t mean that team is what we should build on, but it’s still full of enough potential, that if you add key players you could still have a decent side.

We had that in 08′, we rebuilt over 2-3 years till 2010-11, If all they were doing was waiting for the renewing of sponsorship deals why would you clutter it up with even more players that you aren’t going to be able to move on quickly and that won’t improve along with the team ?!

What’s the point in bringing in a new manager unless you give him significant funds to enhance a team that should have been invested in over the course of the last 7 years.

    INT. WENGER’S BEDROOM — NIGHT

THE MANAGER STUMBLES INTO HIS QUARTERS, A HUSK OF HIS USUAL SELF. THE DEPRESSION IS PALPABLE.

HE TAKES A FEW ZOMBIE-LIKE STEPS, THEN HALTS. WE CLOSE UP ON HIS FORLORN EYES. WE CAN SEE THEM START TO WATER AS HE STARES AHEAD. AFTER WHAT FEELS LIKE A LONG TIME, HE LUMBERS FORWARD AGAIN.

WENGER LAYS DOWN–FACE FIRST–ON HIS BED. IT’S COVERED IN POUND NOTES. SO MUCH THAT IT’S ALMOST AS IF HIS SHEETS AND BLANKETS WERE TRANSFORMED INTO CURRENCY.

THE BOSS WEEPS INTO HIS MONEY. IT’S A HEART-WRENCHING SCENE. THE SOBS ARE HORRIBLE TO ENDURE.

SUDDENLY A VOICE BREAKS THROUGH, ALARMING THE MANAGER:

    VOICE (O.C.): It’s okay, boss.

WENGER, STARTLED, TURNS ON HIS SIDE TO SEE JOHAN DJOUROU STANDING IN THE SHADOWS.

    DJOUROU: We have great belief.

DJOUROU SITS DOWN ON THE BED OF MONEY NEXT TO WENGER, WHO PROPS HIMSELF UP.

    DJOUROU: Come here.

HE EMBRACES WENGER, SITTING BEHIND HIM AND WRAPPING HIS ARMS AROUND. WENGER’S EYES TIGHTEN AND SOME TEARS SQUEEZE OUT. DJOUROU ROCKS HIM BACK AND FORTH, TENDERLY.

DJOUROU: We can bounce back, boss…

WENGER CAN’T HOLD BACK ANYMORE. HE MOANS IN ANGUISH AS DJOUROU ROCKS HIM, SLOWLY, GENTLY.

DJOUROU: You will see the best of us now… We will demonstrate our quality…

FINALLY WENGER STOPS CRYING OUT AND LOOKS BACK AT DJOUROU. HE STARES DEEP INTO HIS EYES, SHOWING US HIS PAIN. DJOUROU PICKS UP A FIFTY POUND NOTE AND WIPES THE TEARS FROM THE MANAGER’S EYES. HE KISSES HIS FOREHEAD AND PRESSES WENGER AGAINST HIS CHEST.

    FADE TO BLACK

Arsene and his gutless boring team have got me to a place i never thought i could go – I actually dont care that much any more that the team is shit – it’s just the club and the memories that are keeping me just about holding on .

This French cunt has got to go

  45. Gunner2301

    1886 19:13

I think that has been my biggest problems with Wengers teams since the Emirates. It was his opportunity to build a team in his own image and that’s exactly what we have. Spineless, gutless, lazy money grabbing set of cunts just like the manager.

I’ve talked about the quality bar being lowered but it’s not even about quality alone, the traditions and values of the Club have also been thrown out by Wenger to accommodate his pet project when he got rid of the established players who would have kicked the shit out of this lot for such performances.

We need a manager who can bring that back and players who understand what it is to represent and play for AFC and at the moment there are barely any that are worthy.

  46. Jeff

The absolute best we could hope for is for Wenger to resign of his own accord and it will most definitely not be mid-season. Do not look for the board or owner to dismiss him either because it just isn’t something they are willing to do – not in a million years. It is precisely why we are in this situation. It is a self-perpetuating rather than a self-degrading problem. The immense respect and admiration the board and owner has for Wenger, coupled with that from the AKBs means dismissal is not even a discussion point and AW knows this very well.

It is precisely because of this overwhelming confidence that everyone has in him that he is able to take so many liberties with the team and all the rest of it. He is simply beyond reproach. If we get anywhere near the top four it might be enough to save his bacon but come the end of season there is going to be some serious blood letting if we finish mid-table the ramifications of which are uncertain and unpredictable.

  47. Paulinho

Keyser – I think we would’ve had trouble convincing RVP to stay if we decided to scrap the whole season, finish mid-table, and say “by the way Robin, we’re doing this for long term gain, forget the champions league”. Do you see a flaw in your thinking? Podolski and Giroud come in anyway.

Song? I’m not even going there. He’s shite and playing as a quasi-centre back for Barca. You’re trying to make out we had a loads of talented players back then where was basically no one.

You making way too much of that period. If anything those panic buys got us into the champions league, gave Wenger yet another chance to put things right, and he failed again.

  48. Thomas

Now now guys don’t worry guys. We’ll sign Henry on loan and Diaby will be like a whole new signing in January.

  49. TOLI83

Anyone who supports Arsenal and wants the club to move forward would Wenger out. I been saying it for four/five years. The players don’t believe in him, the fans don’t believe in and that’s become even more obvious. We lack the passion, we lack leaders and we lack the quality. The players are internationals but won’t do it for Arsneal under Wenger. Make know mistake this first 11 should be a whole lot better.

I’m a season ticket holder and I have been to every home game and most aways, Iv never seen an Arsenal team pass it backwards so often, get pushed off the ball, mis placed passes and only create two or three chances a game – no more.

If you want a substandard future and want to be conned and lied to then back the highest paid manager in the league.

If you love Arsenal then in your heart of hearts you now you deserve better than this because that’s how I feel… Cheers TOLI83

Gambon has been true to form for far too long to be ignored any longer. He’s espoused the obvious but has been continually slagged for simply telling it like it is.

For those of you who have been anti-Gambon…Humble Pie must taste pretty good by now?

    Keep on keepin’ on, Gambon!!!

  52. Keyser

Paulinho – “You making way too much of that period. If anything those panic buys got us into the champions league, gave Wenger yet another chance to put things right, and he failed again.”

The whole point is what chance has been given ? What chance would they have given any manager, since almost day one Wengers bought players with potential that will improve as the team grows, older players fade, new ones takeover.

All that’s happened is that every year we’ve needed investment into the team, we’ve stretched that concept that bit further, until the summer before last they gave up the premise completely and delved into a market they had little chance of being productive in.

Back then ? Back since 2005.

Like i’ve said they’ve maintained par, but fucked the team even further for years to come, it doesn’t matter what Van Persie said, he left anyway, or what you say about Song, I mean what’s happened to Arteta now ? It’s the idea of players with potential rather than buying simply for the sake of hitting the Champions League buffers.

Do you understand that ? There’s no rhyme or reason to this team, either we spend heavily, get lucky with another Cazorla type steal, even he looks jaded, or we’re going to struggle long after the money coming in has been spent.

  53. Jeff

All he has to do is buy about 4 world class players, pay them whatever the hell the going rate is want and sell or get rid of around a dozen or so unusable players. That’s it.

The psychological effect that has on your lesser players is immense. They want to give it their best and run that extra bit hard. Since we have sold all our stars and admitted that our only ambition is to come fourth, none of the players appear to give a tuppence about winning any more.

The team should be buzzing with joy. They are playing in a magnificent stadium in front of 60,000 people and are paid very good wages. Why then do we have this Sunday League performance? Because there is no incentive to win any more; there is nothing at the end of it other than a bit of profit for the owner. Well that just isn’t what football players want regardless of which club they play for. They want trophies and medals just like the fans.

It is imperative that we have the medicine called glory injected back into the team. It is important they play with their souls and not just their bodies. It is vital that they have a mission, target and it is drilled into them at every opportunity. I don’t believe this manager can or wants to do any of those things. It’s finished and only the people who are in it fail to see this and act on it.

A new manager will be a breath of fresh air. It will instantly lift the players and the fans because no matter how many AKBs there are out there I guarantee that they will no boo the new manager. Their loyalty will only live so long as Wenger is still at the helm.

Great question from the interviewer : “Other teams played in the middle of the week, why is your team more jaded than they?”

    “It’s difficult to compare…”

Why is the team jaded? We don’t have any depth in the squad.
Why don’t we have any depth in the squad? Because we keep selling our best players… and not replacing them.
Why do we have to sell our best players? Because we don’t have any depth in the squad… so the circle repeats itself, over and over and over again.

I for one, have had enough.

    THE LOT OUT.

  56. Paulinho

Keyser – What’s happened to Arteta now? He’s being played every three days and getting no rest because Wenger didn’t buy a replacement for Song.

I really don’t know what your point is. “fucked for years to come” ? We signed three/four decent players that have not been out-performed at all by players that were not panic buys. You’re going on like we signed fifteen Squillacis.

You’re reasoning is flawed and always has been because you mistakenly assume that young players will just improve and improve and become better than the good but not great finished article players. What young players did we have when we lost to United that were worth perserving with? There was no one.

You keep going on about that period being the turning point then rambling on about the last six or seven years. It’s either a turning point or it isn;t.

  57. Gunner2301

    Dan “Scorsese” 😆

You should be in films. That was so fucking funny not because it was funny but i could actually see that happening.

    You missed a bit though

WENGER: BUT JOHANN HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DEMONSTRATE YOUR QUALITY? WE ARE FINISHED – DID YOU WATCH THE GAME TODAY? THEY SAY I DON’T KNOW WHAT IM DOING.

DJOUROU: DON’T SAY THAT BOSS YOU WILL SEE MY QUALITY – JUST WATCH ME TOMORROW ON ARSENAL.COM ACTUALLY I AM GOING BACK HOME TO RECORD A VIDEO FOR ARSENAL PLAYER AND I’M GOING TO BLOW UP TWITTER TONIGHT WITH SUPPORT FOR YOU AS WELL NOW EMANUEL THE TWITTERCUNT IS ON LOAN.

WENGER: I KNOW I CAN DEPEND ON YOU JOHANN. YOU’RE BROWN ENVELOPE IS ON THE DRESSER AFTER DIABY AND BEFORE GERVINHO ALPHABETIC ORDER YOU KNOW.

DJOUROU: YES BOSS I KNOW I DON’T DOUBT YOUR ALPHABETICAL ORDERS YOU HAVE STACKED 50,000 BROWN ENVELOPES ALPHABETICALLY IN YOUR TIME AS A MANAGER WHICH IS PROOF YOU DO KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING DON’T LISTEN TO THEM.

WENGER: WHISPERS – THANK YOU JOHANN I KNOW I CAN DEPEND ON YOU. GO NOW AND BE QUIET I DON’T WANT YOU TO WAKE RAMSEY UP.

At least Le Grove has its title for tomorrow’s match report… sad sad days. How Wenger looks at himself in the mirror with any pride I do not know.

    @ midlander gunner

    I know, what a tit.

Going on about what we achieved 8 plus years ago. Saying we get stick for our trophy drought and Liverpool and spurs who have never won league get an easy ride etc.

He contradicted himself by going on past glory, Liverpool have won almost twice as much as we have and even won a domestic cup last season while being shit.

More proof winning a trophy, even the CO cup is vital in getting the media off our back.

    AKB’s are brainwashed, clueless dross.

  60. Keyser

Paulinho – According to you Arteta was about to hit his physical peak, and was just adjusting to a new position. We’ve seen what Arteta is and Mertesacker was outperformed last year, then there’s Santos.

It’s not about young players, or necessarily the individuals we bought, more why we bought them and who they represented, ageing, middle market buys that weren’t exceptional and weren’t going to improve, stop-gaps like I said to ensure we hit par, that’s all.

That’s after soo many years of buying players that either fulfilled a role or were yet to reach a certain level that their potential justified. It’s not whether they reached it or not, but that we had an idea as to how we were going to progress.

  61. BERMY BOY

My humour is being fueled by all of the negativity being SPEWED on here and i am loving EVERY MINUTE of it.Your hate and loathing of those responsible reflect how i and every AFC fan feel right now,TODAY.Demonstrate to your hearts content ,voice your disappointment ,let your troubles be known to the bod ,wenger and to the world, ROCK ON.

  62. Johnty79

Right just in from work but let’s start by saying wenger is a useless old cunt! All agreed?

Our rebuilding season was 2006-7 . In 2008 we had a team that challenged for the title and would have won it if Eduardo hadn’t got injured and wenger hadn’t of sold diarra. Since then he has failed repeatedly in the transfer market. He went from having A big team of strong men to a little team of school boys. But let’s not forgot after each title win wenger failed to add to the squad resulting in us failing in us winning the title the year after.

After qualifying for the champs league next round he still insists in taking a full strength squad to olympiakos despite it making no difference who we get in the next round. Wenger did this in 2002 against shackter Don
etsk and we lost 3.0 I beleive from memory. The man has always been a fool who got buy on vieria, Henry, pires for his whole arsenal career.

I hope we lose to olympiciakos and west brom and the game after this.

Brian laudrup or Roberto Martinez to take over. At least they know the Spanish market and could get the best out of current Spanish players.

Wenger should have went in 2009 no won can disagree with this.

  63. Johnty79

How did the demonstration go Gambon did you all bottle it in the end?? It was mentioned on talk sport but was it on soccer Saturday???

  64. Gunner2301

    Jeff 19:53

Sorry I can’t agree with you. It’s gone way past needing 4 top players. The manager has no ideas, no strategy and cannot motivate the players he has managed to get away with it in the early years with players who could operate on auto pilot and were self motivated but that is in the past, he has brought in players that are the total opposite to that. There is no way back for him. We will bump along all season and inevitably drop out of the top 4 then our work begins trying to remove him before the beginning of the next season.

I’ve said many times that I don;t know what Arsenal stands for anymore and today is probably the epitome of that sentiment.

  65. Gunner2301

    BERMY

I’ve been feeling this way for years mate. This has been a long time coming and if this is the catalyst for change so be it. Anyone know how the demonstration went?

  66. SpanishDave

The frustrating thing is that nothing will happen. We have had this slow death for a long time now,and it is very painfull. I would only respect Wenger now if he would man up and walk away. Even if we woukd have to struggle on with Steve Bold until the end of the season the fans would respond and help the team
Asking loyal fans to watch this shambles week in week out is insulting, charging the top prices for this crap product is not on, The board are all yes men and the owner is not a fan of Arsenal
    Sad days

  67. N21Tone

Got a mouthful of abuse on the way out of the ground today because I had THE black scarf on. Still morons out there willing to defend the manager, the players and the board. We want our Arsenal back now!

  68. Gunner2301

    SpanishDave

Wenger won’t leave mid season. If he walked in Summer Bould would probably get it. He may make a difference with the same squad but it would only be delaying the inevitable. I really don’t think the players we have are good enough whoever the coach is. The squad is assembled to scrape top 4 and that’s what Bould (or any other manager) could probably achieve with these players if he was lucky but that’s not good enough for a Club of our stature no matter what the fucking lunatic at the wheel is saying.

  69. Johnty79

You all had ago at Rvp when he spoke the truth. Cesc was a coward who should have said something similar. Wenger has destroyed this club with what looks like on the purpose. Dalglish was sacked at Liverpool but he was trying to succeed. Why didn’t he try to build on the 2004 team. Why wenger why did you refuse to sign at least 1 star in each of the last 8 seasons. It makes no sense. I hope you r remembered at arsenal for the damage you have done rather than the success’s

  70. Johnty79

Absolute madness that we r going to bid 10m for Reina, who is past it now. Our defence will still be shit with Reina in goal. Wenger , stupid fucking idiot.

  71. Gunner2301

    Johnty79

I was on of the few who was saying RVP was a saint for speaking out and stripping the Emperor of his clothes to at least confirm what some of us already knew.

I believe Henry should have spoken out when he left and not come back if he loves the Club as much as he says he does why would he leave to pursue what he believed Arsenal could never give him (and he was right) but then expect us to shut the fuck up and lap up Wengers bollocks year after year? They were all self serving hypocrites.

  72. Dan Ahern

Gambon – That becomes a big plot point in Season 2: Djourou begins to sense that something is amiss. At first he’s very happy–Wenger is still holding him in an exalted position, giving him a cushy PR job for the club and continual pay rises. But slowly he begins to perceive that perhaps he is just being bought off! Does Wenger fancy the new lithe lads Ox and Gnabry? Are those really “contract talks” he’s disappearing for all the time to see Theo? What really happened when he would visit young Aaron in the hospital after his accident? Djourou has his suspicions, but at the same time feels increasingly trapped by the fear of losing his favoured place should he ever question things–and the ultimate fear of losing Wenger’s love!

There are 55 players on the shortlist for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2012.

Is there one Arsenal player on that list?

    Noooooooooooooo!

Thats how bad our squad is, mediocre, rubbish, crap!

    Even Spurs have Bale in!

  75. Arsenalone

Arsene looks increasingly under more and more strain, the best thing that can happen to us is we fail to qualify for next seasons CL top 4 spot.

Then the mad man will have to walk away,I don’t see AW leaving now or the club pushing him.

Shame it’s come to this, there was some great memories from Arsene.

With any luck he might end up having a heart attack.

  76. Gunner2301

    Dan

I will only pre-order if the mystery of Djourou exercising the right to extend his own contract is revealed in the plot. That’s if there is no legal restrictions in place preventing you from publishing it of course. 😆

“That’s after soo many years of buying players that either fulfilled a role or were yet to reach a certain level that their potential justified. It’s not whether they reached it or not, but that we had an idea as to how we were going to progress.”

Well it is about them reaching it or getting close, otherwise you end up mid-table and going absolutely nowhere and worse off than if you bought older players that had limited potential.

You’re always going on about the future, next season, the season after. All this potential that is more often than not limited potential anyway. Frimpong hasn’t got any potential. Arteta at Coquelin’s age was a far better player than the Frenchman is now.

  78. TOLI83

Does anyone here blame RVP ? He’s looking at our performances knowing he’s lucked out.

What nobody draws upon is how Podolski and Cazorla were sold the world when they came here and they must be thinking what’s going on? Neither are performing like they did at beginning of the year. I’d be thinking the same if I saw that c*nt Gervinho named as our leading centre forward…

  79. Arsenalone

    Toli83
    I don’t blame RVP

Mate it’s the difference between sharing a changing room with
JD,squalicy, bender,Ramsey, gervinho, and santos, and all the other shit players we own and pay huge salerys to.

  80. tippitappi

I hate Arsenal losing and would have taken a win today even if it gave wenger more breathing space and I loathe that man believe me but I have to say defeat today and a couple more by the years end is proberbly a necesessity now the board and wenger are like siamese twins thats the problem , didn’t go today thank the Lord but gutted at missing the march try keeping me away next time!

  81. Gunner2301

    ArseneAlone

I think what this period has done is show us exactly how little influence Wenger had in the early successful years. It was the players he had and those around him that brought him that glory he had little influence in that himself.

I refer to Adams who essentially revealed that Arsene doesn’t have much of an idea when it comes to coaching and that;s exactly what this period has demonstrated. When the spotlight is on Arsene and everyone is looking to him to take things by the scruff of the neck he is bereft of ideas and has been for years.

Coaches don’t forget to coach overnight. The truth of the matter is Wenger was never a great coach he was a man that had good ideas to improve things that other coaches hadn’t implemented yet.

When last did a player come to us and improve under Wengers tutelage? Players become the players they were always going to be not because Wenger made them that way all he gave them was the playing time, space and patience to grow themselves and for all the years of coaching he has produced very few players from the hundreds and hundreds of millions spent.

WENGER IS A CHARLATAN AND THAT IS NOW BEING REVEALED!

  82. mystic

‘There are many players who need a rest, because they are on the verge of getting injured. Some played with knocks today.’

For fucks sake, what is the old duffer blabbering about:
    1) Has he looked at the fucking wage bill he created? He should be telling his players to die on the pitch to prove they are worth their wages;
    2) Why the fuck is he picking players ‘with knocks’?
    3) will he ever take responsibility and say ‘I fucked up (AGAIN), I am killing Arsenal and will do the decent thing and piss off.

  83. Keyser

Paulinho – Arteta was on loan at PSG ? He’s not going to improve and his weaknesses are showing up more and more often now.

Do you even see what I’m getting at ? There wasn’t even an attempt at advancing us, they’ve simply decided to stall.

  84. Dan Ahern

TOLI83 — Lucked out? Nothing of the sort! He knew our squad was weak and that’s why he wouldn’t talk contract without some assurances that things would change.

Some even say he was encouraged after Cazorla was signed, but it was too late as he’d already publicly bruised Wenger’s ego (twice). I suppose in that regard you could call it luck that AW still sold him. Nonetheless, he knew our situation was dire and that’s why he was holding out in the first place.

  85. Paulinho

Keyser – He was playing first team football in what was then a pretty decent Rangers team.

I know what you’re getting at, but at the time it was the right decision and out fortunes, surprise surprise, improved not long after. We should have had Arteta when Denilson, Song were stinking the joint out and we may won something like the F.A Cup in 2009.

Your alternative opinion of what we should have done is laughable and is more of illustration of how prepared you are to divert blame from Wenger’s door than anything else.

We ‘panicked’ for a reason and that was reason was because of Wenger’s misplaced trust in young players to step up. He also should have ‘gave up’ earlier and not signed Chamberlain. Now that was a waste of money.

  86. Arsenalone

    Gunner2301
    I’m no AKB but
    What about

    Henry
    Viera
    Petit
    Pires
    Lundburg
    Wiltord
    Flamini
    Clichy
    Fabregas
    Nasri
    RVP
All class players that were coached under AW.

The above gave us all wonderful memories, coached under the current management

Just my opinion of course, the man has lost the plot or been forced to sell our stars over the past 7 years.
    He’s got to leave

Thanks for the memories but leave now Arsene

  87. kwik fit

Why thank Arsene for the memories?
With the players he had 98 to 05 we should have won much much more. 98 and 02 excluded every other season was a case of his team under achieving. Even in the invincible season we should have won the CL. His early reign was littered with near misses. I’m convinced that a better manager would have won much more .
No more thanks for the memories ..Just Fuck Off wenger!

  88. TOLI83

    Cheers ArseneAlone….

Mystic, Wengers excuses is a joke . I reckon that the reason all of these players are picking up knocks and not fit is because they are all been played out of position .

Arteta is run into the ground because we didn’t buy replacement for Song. Podolski has never had to do so much tracking back his life. Cazorla was winger in Spain cutting in and play making. Gervinho a cf when he has never played that position in his life. Giroud tired because he is our recognised cf and needs to be rested as its all on his shoulders. Also Wenger is expecting 30 games a year out of Walcott, DIaby, Rosicky etc . Deluded…

NICE EXCUSES WENGER BUT UNFORTUNATELY BEEN THE HIGHEST PLAYED PREM MANAGER MEANS THIS DOESN’T WASH WITH US…

Wenger: “It’s possible that this season could be my last.”

    WHERE DID YOU READ THIS!!!!!

  90. Keyser

Paulinho – Seems like you don’t, Our fortunes improved ? and That sums it up, year after year you’ve gone about what we’ve needed to win titles and restore us to where we were, and no you weren’t going on about the FA Cup, we’ve had a discussion about that to, hah.

Instead we bought Arteta last year, now he’s stinking up the joint at his physical peak, in a position he should have adjusted to, afterall if he was good enough in 09′ like you say, he should be more than good enough now by your own reasoning.

Anyway you haven’t got it they’re clinging onto the money we should be earning and we need it now more than ever.

  91. Ric

So Whats the Arguement about Keyser? what are you spouting this time? I didn’t actually take time to read your BS before assuming its BS this time.

  92. Max85

Guys, hate to pour even more coled water on a rubbish day, but all of you lot who reckon us losing more games will lead to the end of Wenger, you need your heads examined.

Who is Arsene accountable to? The board. Do the board care about winning trophies? Do they fuck. Even losing the lucrative Champs League revenue will be offset by the new sponsorship deal and selling the likes of Wilshere, Cazorla etc. As long as the club is in the black and they’re collecting their paycheck they don’t give a shit, they’re too old to rock the boat now even if they ever wanted to.

Who is the board accountable to? The owner. Does Stan care about Arsenal winning trophies? Again, does he fuck. He never watches the games, he probably couldn’t name a single player in our starting XI. He’ll wait until more sponsorship monies roll in then start bleeding the funds quietly, just a small amount at first. He’s encouraged this whole stripping every summer, and the only way he’ll leave is if once he’s got all he reaslistically can from the club then sell the club on at a profit to Usmanov or whoever else (though he’d better do it sooner rather than later as it won’t be such a prized investment in the near future).

Wenger will leave when he wants, and then secure a director of football/board role where he’ll still be able to dictate the way the team and transfers are run. The new manager will be an inexpensive yes man who is pliable enough to go along with what the board want for the club.

The only way out is Usmanov, I just hope he doesn’t lose interest!

  93. Gunner2301

    Arsenalone

It is well known that attacking players are the group of players that you have the least influence on they either have it or they don’t (examples Henry and Walcott respectively). Wiltord was already a made player at Bordeaux. Pires was already a good player having problems like many Arsene brought in. RVP was already a talent needed to be injury free.

However if you look he paid a lot of money for players that weren’t necessarily at their best which was a massive risk. They paid off but he has been trying the same and it hasn’t paid off for years.

    So midfield
Nasri already had it before he arrived
Flamini was already capable – proof he could play anywhere well that’s not taught its a talent
Petit – I could give you that but the partnerships he had in midfield helped
Viera – would have always made it too big a character with leadership qualities that Arsene did not instill in him – We see that Arsene has failed to appoint a captain/leader since Viera
Clichy? Seriously – he is a better player at City more balanced not so gung ho a liability with us toward the end
Fabregas, – well if I’ve seen a player that was always going to make it Fabregas is it. I would also say Wilshire is the same.

So the list is made up of flair players who already had talent, Arsene didn’t coach that into them and they were big financial risks which worked out then but hasnt worked out for years.

Midfield most of them were already talented or would have made it at any other Club given an equal team to play with and the amount of games given to them by Arsene (especially the younger players). You will notice for all the ones on the list you could probably name 3 or more failures in each position.

Defence? – Enough said Arsene is struggling here.

The reality is the only 2 players that can be called Wenger prodigies that have some measure of success is Fabregas and Wilshire and I;m sure you can see again given the time and exposure he gave those players in any other top team they would have been successful. This is after hundreds of millions spent on youth over 16 years.

Yes he did assemble those players but how many would he have gone out and bought without Dein cajoling him? Arsene has always been cautious before he had others around that would force his hand now he is a law unto himself so we stagnate under cautiousness.

I stand by what Tony Adams says and we can infer from this that Arsene had less of a hand in the successful years that many may believe. Like I said you don’t forget to coach overnight but if Arsene doesn’t have experienced players who know their jobs are self motivated and can operate more or less independently with little input from him there is no success and he can’t bring success and that’s what we’ve seen over the last 7 -8 years.

  94. Ric

Guess I was a bit quick there, that actually seems a fairly valid argument,

whether or not Arteta is just a complimentary player right?…

    …. Well yeah.

But he could have been a great “complimentary” player, like Ljungberg, Parlour or Flamini was. Instead he was made integral, and i don’t think that role really suits his strenghts.

  95. BERMY BOY

Why is Henry even considering coming back to help Wenger out of a jam ,i’m sure he can see what the fuck is happening why be part of a circus.Didn’t we give this guy a statue, does he love Wenger more than the club.

  96. Gunner2301

    Max85

Gazidis said at last seasons Q & A when asked who Arsene is answerable to he said the fans not the board so we are aware that he is going nowhere unless the fans get him out. But it has started and once momentum builds behind it they will eventually get him out.

  97. Paulinho

Keyser – It’s obvious what you mean, it’s not a particularly difficult thing to grasp. Although working out the how you someone could be so thick to attribute so much importance definately is, although it probably stems from your unhealthy infatuation with Wenger.

Our only decent player left, RVP, would’ve left anyway and I don’t think getting barracked and booed by the crowd as we slipped into midtable obscurity was going to be of any great benefit.

So yeah, I got your point, and it’s just as pathetic as all the other shite you’ve peddled.

  98. Gunner2301

    Bermy

It seems he does. He doesn’t need anything from the club anymore. It would be nice being a legend if he could stand up and say enough is enough change needs to happen instead of supporting the very same status quo he ran a mile from to achieve his ambitions. Hypocrisy.
