Hernandez as part of the Robin deal? Would you? | Alex Song suitors in town to do a deal with Arsenal

by & filed under News Review, Podcast.

Morning Grovers, apologies for the late posts over the past few days, I’ve been struck by illness. This is new to me. But fear not Geoff has had words and I will be manning up.

Onto the football. BARCA are in town to nab their man. Yes, they want Song and yes, we’re willing to listen to offers. If this deal goes through I’ll give you the lowdown on him and why we’re listening… and please, don’t think for one minute we’d consider selling him off if there wasn’t a reason. This will be mutual if it happens. My only hope is the solution to his sale isn’t Coquelin. That said, in a proper defensive midfield role, maybe Coquelin has more discipline. He certainly appears to have a range of passing that could match Song’s in a season or two… Most importantly he’s not docile and he’s super fast.

Sometimes losing a good player is for the good of the team. We lost Thierry and arguably saw the best football of the post Highbury era. If we lose Song, sure we’ve lost a talented footballer, but…

1) In your heart of hearts, does Alex Song look like he cares?

2) Do you think a defensive midfielder with no discipline that contributes to us conceding 49 goals in the league is a player we need?

I mean, the fact that we’re considering selling him rather than moving him into a more advanced ‘Keita’ position tells you all you need to know about the situation.

Onto the most boring story in the universe. Boring Van Persie and his dull transfer saga appears to be rolling on. Come on, someone put this protracted story in a bag, drop a bowling ball in for good measure, strap it up and throw it in the Thames. I have to say, a saga like this fusses me little when we’ve got two capable back up strikers at the club. Chamakh and Park are a reassuring safety blanket if the worst happens. That this messing around is disrupting United’s preseason is mighty satisfying.

There were some rumours flying around yesterday that indicated Hernandez might be thrown onto the mixing pot. Hmmmm… that’s interesting. Would that deal work for you? I think it’d take the edge off the sale for me. Younger, fitter… Premiership experience. If we sold Robin, what exactly would we be looking for in our next striker? We have a 6ft3 power house in Giroud. We have a short pacey striker in Podolski. Could we do with a fox in the box type player like Hernandez… or would we look for a player similar to Llorente to take care of Adebayor duties with far more skill and control?

Whatever goes on with Robin this summer, I think I’m past caring*.

  1. Ze Gooner

find it odd that you think song doesn’t care yet you think rvp cared? who released a statement? who has been discussing with other clubs behind our back? i think that song has done something to pedro

  2. Geoff

Song is shit, always has been always will be and this team will be better without him.

If true it will make my summer.

  3. Midlandgunner

Take Hernandez all day long proper poacher,Fergie would never let him go though so I doubt there’s much substance to this rumour

  4. Mark C

If we sell RVP Song and Walcott and buy Martinez and Llorente is that good business?

    It is in my eyes.

I also expect a good season Gervinho for us perhaps as a CF.

  5. Barndoor Bendtner

I totally agree that we need to recruit a better DM, but without replacement Song will leave a big hole in the team. Like it or not he is the glue that holds the team together, which is why it all goes tits up when he goes AWOL.

Big Coq isnt ready yet, so we have to keep Song at least for another season.

The other factor is that Barca cant really afford him, oh, and they dont even need him. I think they just mind f***ing us.

  6. Kripakar Marur

and Chicharito is another no no. There is a reason why an average striker like Danny Welbeck was ahead of him in the pecking order at ManU. He is pretty one dimensional and got found out in his second season.

  7. Arsene nose best

These song rumours are getting very exciting, please let this one go through, as geoff said always has been and always will be shit.

  8. K.C.

I’m all for selling Song, but only if we reinvest his fee on a quality replacement. Coquelin isn’t going to get it done.

  9. Ash79

Whether there is a good reason or not to sell Alex Song, im fucked off that we just roll over for the likes of Barca and City, again and again. We throw our toys out of the pram once the rumours take pace but in the end we hand over the goods for usually poor money. If Song goes for £15m i’d be fucked off! This guy is contracted for a further 2/3 years, we have the upper hand here, or atleast we should. We bitch and moan about City and Barca every season but we roll out the red carpet when they want to do business. Its really pissing me off, its the principle of it all.

We are a fuckin laughing stock in the market ‘oh Arsenal, yeh they’ll have a whinge or so but stick to your guns they’ll fold and give you what you want for less than you should pay’.

No backbone, spine or balls. We are a fuckin joke!

  10. Arsene nose best

I have been hearing a few peole say we have a beter squad then united, is this the same squad that got embarrassed 8-2 last season by them.

  11. Colonel Mustard

Yet again someone here please explain rational of selling Van Persie to United….It like it accepted by us. Its bordering on f**kin insanity to sell to direct rivals. He will score and score and score. Keep him benched or play if he wants. even if we sell we won’t reinvest and anyone thinks we will buy a established striker to replace him is deluded. Gazidis is protecting Silent Stans investment and he is sure not going to spluge 20 million on a player be very assured. The Stan Kronke Saving Scheme is well topped up.

  12. Arsene nose best

C.m we no longer rival unied on the pitch, that went the last time we won something, accept it and move on

  13. anto

id gladly let song go providing we get a proper DM with the money.if we get a good DM to sit in front of the back 4 with caz.wiltshere,arteta.and the rest we could do damage this season.im not fussed on song at all.

  14. Kripakar Marur

my view on current crop of strikers is:
neymar : might be the next wonderkid but definitely not in england. unproven in serious football as of now and might be too lightweight for epl
llorente : overhyped because he plays with an awesome midfield behind him. not sure he is better than giroud.
jovetic : no idea. heard good things about him.
lewandowski : closest to rvp in playing style. currently rvp slightly better but lewandowski has age on his side. he is in a contract tussle with dortmund.
falcao : can more than adequately replace rvp. infact with the more creative midfield we have this season, he might be better than rvp in a traditional centre forward role. rvp was both striker and trequartista for us last season. and atletico have money troubles.
mirallas : never heard of him. flopped in ligue 1. probably what we might get. and he will go down in history as the signing that finally made Arsenal a JOKE club.

  15. Thorough

If we cant get Mirallas, which is very likely since he purpotedly has a medical fixed for Everton today/tomorrow, then we must try get a striker from within the EPL. Bent will be my first choice if he werent so injury-prone and Wenger wasnt Shylock. Fletcher, Odewengie, that Everton guy or Chicharito are veritable options too. But I wont be surprised if stingy wanker brings a striker from Sudan division 2 or resurrects the Tresor Mputu deal 10years after we should have signed him. But more importantly, how many years does that footballing scarecrow have left on his contract? If fans will not achieve anything we can at least make sure he doesnt stay beyond those 2years.

  16. ZARgooner

If we sell RvP it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY (almost certain) that we will not buy a “replacement” as we already have the in Giroud and Podolski… we also know Chamakh is going nowhere…

Therefore if Hernandez was offered as part of the deal I would take that in a heartbeat – but this is unlikely to be true….

    Berbatov perhaps?

I mean what are united going to do with Rooney, Van persie, Wellbeck, Chicharito and Berbatov….. Oh ya win the league

  17. Arse&Nose©

Don’t understand why Song is getting shit from fans but RVP is given the benefit of the doubt.

I know RVP is our star player, the player of the year , top scorer but should that bias how we perceive his actions? In an ideal world all players should be held accountable for their actions equally, irrespective of their perceived rank in the game.

  18. michael

whatever happens ile cheer the team on sat , moan at the sloppy passes, celebrate the goals and have a right go at the lazy bastards who dont try
    same as any match

    coyg

  19. Johnny5

    Pedro

Sod the shirt what about the dodgy barnet lol!!! Just kidding.

Glad to hear song might be off. You seem to know something we don’t about him when are you gonna post it?

On RVP I’m sick of it too bud. Clearly he wanted a move all along the shit about the club matching his ambition was fucking bollocks. You say replace him but who do you get? There isn’t anyone of the same quality anywhere near our price range. Lorente isn’t a good enough yet and to be honest he is a giroud type player anyway ain’t he? Why have two of them. So what I’m thinking is strengthen with a DM and debuchy and if wenger is serious about replacing van persie then go after villa from barca who wants to get back to top form and might not want to warm the bench or someone else that’s class.

    What do you think?

Everton close to £6m signing of Belgium striker Kevin Mirallas
    • Mirallas due on Merseyside for medical on Thursday
    • Half of Rodwell money to go on Olympiakos forward

Everton are close to signing Kevin Mirallas, a versatile 24-year-old Belgian forward who plays his club football with Olympiakos.

The fee is understood to be in the region of £6m due to a clause in his contract and would represent around half of the fee the Goodison club received from Manchester City for Jack Rodwell only last weekend.

Belgium are playing Holland in a Brussels friendly on Wednesday evening and Mirallas is expected on Merseyside on Thursday for a medical and to complete the transfer.

The forward, who can operate on either wing as well as through the middle, has also played for Lille and St Etienne and was the top scorer in Greece with 20 league goals last season.

He has 27 caps with five goals and would link up again with his international team-mate Marouane Fellaini, who is about to start his fifth season at Goodison.

20 million for Song and we’ll have hoodwinked Barca. In reality he’s worth maybe half that fee. Take the money and run. If we absolutely have to sell Van Persie to MAnUre I say we ask for 20 million + Welbeck. Then take the transfer fees for Robin and Song and splurge on Javi Martinez!

  23. Gooner83

Selling RVP to Man U and getting Hernadez in return is a joke. Please, no more diddy men, especially not one that’s been playing second fiddle to mighty Wellbeck.

If we sell our best player to one of our biggest rivals we may as well give it up now. sigh.

  24. Kripakar Marur

sahin for song will improve the team. song will mostly do a mascherano. after 3 months, he will realise that he does not have the technical ability to play in the barca midfield. will be benched this season. will mostly play in defence the season after that. i don’t think it is possible for him to make their midfield when cesc has just said he struggles to play there.

  25. SUGA3

    ANB,

the thing is that we actually rival United, whilst it has more to do with their decline and new rich kids on the block than our development, it’s a fact…

  26. Colonel Mustard

for me selling Van Persie to UNited would sour our summer business as yet again it suggest a book balancing act to keep Kronke investment at maximum before he flogs us. Gazidiz is such a yes man. Our board is worse.

  27. Arsene nose best

Decline, they missed out on the title on goal difference, they smashed us last season at home and beat us away, when was the last time we finished above them, im sorry but ee no longer rival them, how many points did they finish above us

  28. Gooby

RvP in exchange of hernandez and money would work for me.

I RvP wants to leave and the board wants to sell it is better to get the best deal out of it rather than fight it out until the last day of the window or january.

lewandowski is another option, he’s versatile too.

As for song i’d be more than happy if we can get m’villa instead of him.

I reckon the sahin deal is off because it’s crowded in midfield already

  29. salparadiseNYC

    Song SELL him.
Song ship him off to Barca, would not feel right if we did not sell somebody to those Catalan cunts every summer. Get some brass and one up them with the absolute cou of signing Javi Martinez.
    I’d LOVE that.
Apparently Sahin wants Arsenal to play alongside RVP and Cazorla / Mou wants him to go to Liverpool as he despises Arsene.. according to Marca!
Love that tit bit, not sure it’s totally accurate and not sure anyone told him RVP told Arsene and Ivan the dream was over.

Feel better Pedro, flush it with some Bunnahabhain single malt that lil capt on the bottle will kick anyones ass.

  30. ArsenalKenya

I dont care where RVP goes to but i would prefer he doesnt go to an EPL rival. As for Song let him go and rot on barca Bench. Even Alexander Hleb regretted the day he left Arsenal and he is still regretting to date.

  31. Kripakar Marur

for people saying rejecting 20 mil for RVP is not possible in our business model, WOLVES (yes the club that was bottom of the league last season) rejected a bid of 14 mil for Steven Fletcher. We really are a joke club.

  32. Arsene nose best

Why keep a player that no longer is happy at the club who also want’s out, people say teach him a lesson and let him rot need to start being more realistic, when was the last time you heard of a player rotting in the reserves of that calibre.

  33. Zee

Agree song is docile, I’m sure he leaves his headphones on for team talks. Takes them off in time to kiss the opposition in the tunnel though. Just the kind of behaviour we gotta lose. Have him barca you mugs, it’ll make up a little for raping us over cesc.

  34. Johnty79

Song and Rvp will go. We will sign no body. We will have numerous injuries and wenger will complain about bad luck , we will have a strong run to the end of the season and nick forth. Wenger Will feel superior to every other manager. Wilshere Carzola Will leave next season . De ja vu anyone? The last good preseason of signings we had was in 2001-2002. Since then nothing to look forward to for the next ten years.

  35. A

I’m not sure about Hernandez Gooby. Burst onto the scene with a flurry of goals then has barely played since, and not improved. He has very little to his game other than goals so wouldn’t really fit the system, and wouldn’t be able to link up with Cazorla etc very well…. As a VP replacement I really want someone who can offer what he did (or as close to it) creatively, someone who could drop deeper and link the play. Absolutely no idea who fits that description though!

Agree with the rest, although I’m not sure the Sahin deal is definitely off? We will have a very crowded midfield though if he does come in, maybe Ramsey would go on loan?

  36. SUGA3

    ANB,

mate, whilst I am a staunch critic of the club setup, I am reasonable in doing so: the team last year was wank, now we have added a few players and on paper we have a team that is as good as United’s, if not better…

selling RvP to United will upset that balance, and we will yet again finish WAY beyond them…

as it is, we are rivalling Yoonited to second or third, depending on how well Chelsea will do!

  37. Kripakar Marur

    @bayo
    2010 – 2011 season Sahin facts:
    captained dortmund to league title
    bundesliga player of the year
player with highest tackles per game
player with highest key passes per game

but liverpool are still interested. if i were sahin, i would join them. in spite of their spectacular failures in recent seasons/transfer windows, they atleast make an attempt to achieve something.

  38. arsenal tom

Gooby… crowded with bodies maybe but not with quality and reliability though.

    Jack… suspect fitness
    Diaby… suspect fitness
Rosicky… suspect fitness and getting old
Arteta… Quality but again fitness is a bit suspect plus not a natural DM
    Song… looks like he’s off
Ramsey… good squad player shouldn’t be a guaranteed starter
    Coq… too young
    Cazorla… Quality

with Song going we need an out and out DM and someone like Sahin would take allot of pressure of jack and arteta having to play every game

  39. SUGA3

    ANB,

there has been more than one player kept against his wishes that still gave his all, RvP cannot sit out this season and he knows it….

  40. Kripakar Marur

    @arsene noes best
    not necessarily rotting in reserves
but modric last year. heinze liverpool thingy. we have options but the people who run our club have no cojones. still can’t believe we are going to hand over league top scorer, double player of the year and probably best striker in europe to man fucking u.

  41. gazzap

I think a few on here are underestimating the importance of song. I guess it’ll only become clear once he is gone. Put it this way, if Song goes and Wenger doesn’t replace with a big physical unit who can get about the pitch and tackle, then we are f*cked.

If RVP and Song go and Wenger pockets the cash to ‘balance’ the books I’ll be so bloody angry with him and the board.

No backbone, spine or balls. We are a fuckin joke!

  43. Arse&Nose©

Last year Song was the only player with physical presence in our midfield. When he didn’t play we got bullied. If he leaves we will miss his ability to shield the ball and strength against opponents, he will have to be replaced and time is running out.

  44. Arsene nose best

Suga m8, we will see if u are correct my friend, but even jf we kept r.v.p for one last season, united will still finish above us (fact) a team that has shipped in the amount of goals as we have consustently done wins nothing, and certainly doesn’t rival the 2 manc clubs.

  45. bayo

    @ kripkar Marur

A midfield of carzola, sahin and arteta lacks the physical strength needed in the premier league. The physicality of the German league is different from the premier league. Even dm’s from other leagues suffer from it.

  46. Shippy

I think we all know Song didn’t play strictly DM he was pushed up the field. Wasn’t he only beaten on assists by David Silva?

  47. Henry Kwaku Abutu

Funny to read u display others weaknesses yet fail to tell everybody their strengths. You blame Song for Arsenal shipping 49 goals last season, how many did he contribute to the goals Ghana scored last season? Tell us all…..! For Barca, the best team now, seeking to take him away from us tell one thing that, you do not know the worth of someone when he or she is with you. U only know it when you lose him or her.

  48. Kripakar Marur

    nasri’s mouth

i know that. but the fact that they are in championship should make up for that. he might wanna get out more than rvp. my point is if wolves can say no thank you to 14 mil for fletcher, why the hell do we need to sell to manu? the fact is if we don’t give rvp to them, they will be in trouble. not because they have a bad team. their fans are almost as discontent as we are. sneijder, hazard, mourra, nasri. what happened to us post 2005 is happening to them now. and we will be giving them a massive boost by selling them rvp.

  49. Zee

Agree, shouldn’t even be discussing with man utd. We sell them our best player, whose goals in one season were worth more to us than £20m, they sell us silvestre. And arsene is the one who doesn’t drink.

  50. Arsene nose best

Songs shielding of the ball was immense, it was so immense we let in 49 goals, he’s shocking, good riddance

  51. bayo

    Arsene nose best

Whether man u will finish above us or not is not the issue..the issue is lack of ambition and not willing to try because of money.

It is already a pattern..next season we will sell vermaelen and wilshere when he is fit.

  52. William

If Hernandez forms part of the package for RVP,take it. Ofcourse to this must be added at least 10 million.Only then should Wenger sanction the deal. If not let RVP run down his contract.
Read McLintock saying Wenger’s 2012-13 team is the best so far. I will believe it when they start winning games and a trophy come May 2013. I believe this will be a watershed season for Arsenal. IF Wenger fails, the clock will be ticking for his exit.

  53. Radio Raheem

when Song hugs Ekotto in the tunnel before a match you know all you need to know about his passion for this club.
    ——————-

You know they play for the same country right?

  54. Kripakar Marur

    @bayo
songs defensive capacities are overrated. he is a very bad tackler. areteta and sahin definitely better tacklers than him. all song does in the defensive phase is foul.

  55. cynorix

I totally agree with ‘Ze Gooner’. What has Song done to deserve such hypocritical comments from fans. Y’all shld channel such hate for RVP. I don’t know what Song did to piss Pedro & Geoff or is it the illness. Continuous attack on Song would signal be racist. Pls let us focus on those that are no longer interested in the Arsenal model

  56. marvin

I remember Wenger saying that the transfer deadline day was the end of August, but that Arsenal had an internal deadline for selling RVP. With this in mind I find it totally and uterrly shambolic that with 4 days to the start of the season that this fucking shit hasn’t been sorted, one way or the other. This season is upon us, so get a couple more players in by all means, but no one gets sold this close to the start of a season. Keep them till January and then get rid.

  57. gambon

If RVP goes we need to replace with similar calibre.

    Not fucking Chicarito.

Im a big fan of his, and have called for us to sign similar, however that was to replace Chamakh/Park….NOT THE BEST STRIKER IN THE PL.

Some peoples expectations for our club are fucking bizarre to say the least.

  58. SUGA3

    Radio,

I wouldn’t give a fuck if they were stepbrothers, for the 90+ minutes, he BAE is a Sp*d cunt and should be treated accordingly!

  59. SUGA3

    cynorix,

are you from Africa by any chance?

it’s funny how certain groups consider any criticism directed towards them to be stemming from ‘racism’, this is seriously old hat, you know?

  60. Radio Raheem

I wouldn’t give a fuck if they were stepbrothers, for the 90+ minutes, he BAE is a Sp*d cunt and should be treated accordingly!
    ——————

I couldn’t give a shit if Song teabags an opponent as long as he does the business on the pitch. Song was actually one of our best players in our 5-2 win against spurs.

  61. Nasri's Mouth

    @kripakar

Impossible to know from the outside what the similarities are. Maybe Wolves believe they can persuade the player to stay, maybe he’s already re-considering, maybe Wolves know they’re going to get another offer. Who knows ? I don’t and you don’t.

With RvP we are pretty sure the only offer is from ManU

  62. Ritesh

    Wake up!

We splashed 30M in transfers because we qualified automatically for CL.

Of course we knew RVP would leave and we bought to replace him. Grimandi said it also.

    Balance the books now!!!

  63. BOOZY

hernandez is united’s next big payday.

The rate him as high as £30mil.

real madrid have already laid ground work for a future move, thats if he fulfils his potential.

  64. Ash79

You’re all missing the fuckin point; debating about whether Song is any good – the point is why the fuck are we bending over again for those catalan cnts? they still owe us money for Cesc.

If anyone mentions fuckin Napolean Dynamite Llorente today, I will lose my fuckin mind.

Man the fuck up Arsenal. We are setting shit examples for other players.

Next year Barca come in for Koz, Vermaelen etc, you can bet we’ll do a deal then also.

  65. HumAnimal

if song goes and we replace him with sahin or mvila… then one of them gets injured we are still fucked. we must and we must buy either nuri or mvila. all of u calling for song to fuck off fail to understand that arsenal always have injury issues… we need back up in every position.

  66. Ben Donnelly

I still see a late bid for Dempsey coming similar top the Arteta deal – he wants CL we can get him cheap and not extortionate wages. + he can play anywhere across the midfield or fill in up top. Not a world beater but makes our squad stronger in my eyes.

  67. Skandibird

Loved the Youtube recording Pedro, shame it ended before that spud chap finished talking though.
Allegedly Sahin is now going to Liverpool?
As for RvP, or as I now call him “the Dutch Boy” ( he does not deserve to be mentioned by name anymore) I was reassured by Big Bear he would not be sold to ManUre, but now it seems the club has agreed a fee of £20m? Confused.com that’s me! I have to agree that if the club does indeed sell to ManUre it has to be one of the worst piece of business ever. Sell him yes, but abroad! Surely we can afford to hold him (the dutch boy) to this last year contract and lose him next year for nothing, repaid by qualifying for the Champions League?

  68. bayo

I dont know how sahin will replace song….no doubt he is a good player but will he give us the physical and defensive character we lack in the team?

  69. Honest Bill

Song is average.. He isn”t good enough to play the quick passing football that we require, and he’s average defensively.. Cumbersome and gives away a lot of fouls.. He also can’t figure out how to put his shorts on properly.

If Barca want to buy him (which is very very unlikely) then i say take the money and laugh all the way to the bank.

As for Hernandez.. He can fuck off.. There’s a reason that Man Utd want RVP. Sure Hernandez might score a few goals, but he will be damaging to our link up play and will cost us overall.

As for RVP.. If he won’t stay then sell him to anyone except Man Utd, chelsea, and the scum (not that he’d want to play for the scum anyway)

Oh and by the way.. Coquelin will be a far better player than Song will.

  70. Ben Donnelly

You all know Man utd is all Chicarito’s dreams come true right?
I dont see him leaving, he was injured last year so rested not dropped.

  71. Kripakar Marur

the worst part is even arsenal fans are not outraged by the fact that we are selling one of the best players in the planet to ManU. 7 years of fucking up has ensured that even fans don’t have ambition. We are self sustaining our way to OBLIVION.

  72. SUGA3

    bayo,

Song is not a defensive player by anu stretch of imagination and his physical presence represents itself in him fouling the opposition players within the shooting range from our goal…

    we need better, I’m afraid…

  73. Arsene nose best

Radio, you don’t see Jack hugging Scott Parker do you?

But you do see the cunt on twitter cheering on chelski

  74. Radio Raheem

Song bashing is the only subject more boring than RvP’s.

Witsel is the player I’d like to see replace Song if he is sold. As someone has pointed out Sahin lacks the physicality to adequately replace Song, if that is his designation, though I’ll still like us to sign him.

  75. Ash79

STOP DISCUSSING THE MERITS AND DRAWBACKS OF ALEX SONG!!!
he wont get any better than he is, thisit. Th ereal question is why the fuck should we entertain Barca anyway!!!?? so annoyed today with all this shit, this is the new normal gents, hope you realise this. We will never be able to hold onto our players for the forseeable future.

Even if we won the prem, our players will get nabbed by the rich clubs. THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL, GET FUCKIN USED TO IT.

  76. bayo

    SUGA 3

I know song is average.he can just do a bit around every part of the field but is sahin going to give us the missing defensive strength we need in the team

  77. Geoff

Let me tell you about Song.

We suffered Eboue, Senderos, Bendtner, and Denilson for years, constantly being told by Wenger they were world class and hearing their stats, then we loaned some of them out, why because they were so crap, no one would buy them and no one could afford their wages.

We were conned and now history is repeating itself.

Fast forward and now we have Squillaci, Chamakh and Song.

People were calling for RVP to be sold because he spent 7 out of 8 years on the treatment table, we all knew he had skill, but then he has a great season and sort of paid us back.

Song on the other hand, put him on the market and no one will offer real money for him, it’s all paper talk.

  78. Arse&Nose©

Saw rumours on twitter last night saying Man Utd will loan us Cleverly for 1 season to help him develop as part of the RVP deal.

…and then I thought, fuck , we have become Wolverhampton Wanderers overnight.

  79. Arsene nose best

Wow ,pep taking a break is really fucking barca up, it’s fucking them up so bad that they want to sign, alex the greatest midfielder song pahaha, idiots.

  80. duvee

Had this wonderful dream last night. Arsenal and Van Persie had planned this potential move to United all along. Right up to 12.00pm Arsenal continued to him and haw about selling Van P and Van P contined to lean towards a move. Then bang on 12.00 Van Persie signs a new contract with Arsenal and Arsenal ay ha ha to united. The plan worked a beaut. Wenger and Van Persie confirm that they had this plan all along to disrupt united’s pre-season also meant that they couldn’t sign any other players as they were waiting on the outcome of the Van persie deal. Arsenal had won!!. Then I woke up.

“Whatever goes on with Robin this summer, I think I’m past caring*.
*Providing we sign a replacement of equal excellence”

I think your fantasy football got to you in the real life

Do you seriously suggest Arsenal will pay any team 30m+ for a striker?

There aren’t many strikers of Robin’s calibre at all. There are very few, all of them will cost us around 30m. Blimey we’re talking about last season Robin to go for more than 20m, so we can’t be bringing a “equal” replacement by splashing 15m. which is the maximum I see this club splashing

  82. Robin's Choco leg Special

    Morning All,

Can’t wait for the season to start now. Looking forward to roaring myself hoarse at the 1st home game this weekend.

I’m bored of the VP and Song sagas. VP disrespected the fans and club with his statement, refers to himself as gooner, idolises Bergkamp but wants to join the Mancs? Fuck him..

As for Song, well he’s either unbelieveably good or absolute dog shit. The truth is he’s somehwre in between and to be honest i’m a little bemused by the reports of his attitude as he seems to muck in well and is a bit of a joker. If we can replace with a more disciplined & better DM option for cheaper/same amount then fine, otherwise we are putting alot of pressure on coquelin. I’m more against than pro this move at the moment as it’s so close to the start of the season.

If United offer us Hernandez plus cash in exchange for VP i’d bite their hands off. Great poacher and an option we lack.

  83. cashmoe

    hmmm 49 goals conceded

12 from THE MANURE and BLACKBURN game
    we WILL improve !
our GOALS CONCEDED should look better without the above results

  84. Red&White

Geoff – Love it – no middle ground there – the m’villa story has legs then. M’villa for Song. Does that work?. RVP – i would be amazed Fergie paying 20+ mill for RVP – Wenger taking the old guy for a ride. We still have Bedtner and the 3 things he needs.

  85. Honest Bill

    Bayo..

Just someone quick enough to get goalside will be an improvement over Song in that department..

“Song wants to play for Barcelona”

Hahaha.. So do a lot of players.. Doesn’t mean he’ll ever be good enough.. If Barca by some miracle were actually stupid enough to sign him, he would spend all his time on their bench anyway.

  86. gambon

Lol, so criticism of Alexandre Dimitri Song Billabong is once again defined as ‘racism’.

This whole blog is fucking obsessed with racism.

    Crazy africans!

  87. mike

enjoyed the show, not the shirt, when did you do it ? must have been before santi arrived, cause those guys idea of what our midfield would look like. Im sorry you dont rate theo, he is for me our next striker and i think he will be awesome , great wingers dont make great strikers all the time, he has a good sense when making runs across the box, his finishing is very good (he misses some but so did TH14 for a while at the begining) however i do agree about song, he is a good player but the media have focused only on his positive attributes and none of his negative so maybe barca just watched the clips on telly, as long as he is replaced (for me its mvilla) then i dont have a problem. The good thing is that apart from bentner, cham and park we still have good options up front, and as was mentioned when rvp missed out towards the end we still got the goals, as long as its all done before saturday

  88. Paulinho

When Song didn’t play? I seem to be remembering his lumbering presence in most matches last season. It was when Arteta got injured that we fell apart.

Delighted if he goes. Physical presence doesn’t mean much if you have the mobility of a traffic cone.

  89. ArsenalManiac21

Pedro and geoff do you guys have some personal issue with Song ow what? He’s always the one getting the blame for the failure of the whole team.

  90. Henry Kwaku Abutu

Can someone tell me the contribution of Ramsey to the Arsenal club last season for wic can be compared to Song’s? Even Walcott’s contribution cannot be compared to Song’s last season if we are not hiding behind some racist parochial reasons.

  91. cynorix

    SUGA3
Well if it isn’t, I would also want the same reaction from fans towards RVP. The only season he was fit & now wants out…’Ungrateful’
That we conceded 49 goals isn’t Song’s fault alone, its a teams fault. Why are y’all deluded in blaming Alex Song alone.
If the best team on the planet wants him, he must be really goo

  92. Marko

I still find it amusing that people who’ve played the game and are involved with the game and write professionally about it and general people qualified to rate Song and yet some people who I assume are barely qualified to have a discussion on going to the tiolet with the door closed hate him and think his shite. Baffling. In saying that we should be looking at an M’Vila or Capoue and Song should be complimenting them or if he leaves Sahins a must.

Well stop going on about it then fatboy.
