7th place, 12 adrift of the spuds, lost 8 and goal difference of +6, impressive

by & filed under News Review.

‘I am here to make all of the fans happy and when I do not manage to do it I am, of course, not happy’ Arsene Wenger.

Ok well a quick look at the headline will sort of illustrate that we are not happy, today the fans will attempt to show their dissatisfaction by putting black bin bags on the empty seats.

I’m not sure that will do much, if of course it is allowed by the Stalinesque stewarding that Arsenal football club will no doubt deploy today.

I think the only effective way to protest is to simply stay away, that’s the only way the board and the media will take any notice, I did of course, but one seat in 60,000 probably isn’t noticed.

Wenger will find it very, very difficult to talk his way out of that sort of protest.

He has blamed appalling injuries on this seasons results, he won’t see it as his fault, even though he could have and should have addressed that in the transfer window, he not only didn’t, he rubbed our noses in it by buying a 19 year old German crock for 400k, and that was after he told the world we didn’t need anymore midfielders.

So the only way I can see success, we haven’t won the league for 8 years and clearly won’t this year so that figure now goes to 9, and we haven’t won anything since 2005 which means 7 years.

This is indeed the lowest we have been at this point is the whole of Wenger’s 16 year reign.

So today we need to win and we need to win big, we can still get 4th place because I do believe in miracles, we just 5 points behind the chavs and the spuds will blow up at some point, so hope is there, today we play Blackburn and nothing short of a big win will do.

But please don’t tell the world every game is now a Cup Final, because your recent record in Cup Finals has been, well crap to be honest.

The great news is Chamakh is on his way back says Wenger, the bad news is he’s on his way back to us, it’s like thinking Squillaci is like a new signing.

This is the team I would put out assuming we have no injuries.

Sagna Mertesacker Kozzer Vermaelen

Coquelin Arteta Yossi (yes, give him a go)

Henry Robin Oxo

So I would give Ramsey a rest, drop Song and give Coquelin a chance and put Henry on from the off, with Oxo on the wing. If Henry is still not fit the why the hell did we sign him, him and Robin could cause mayhem out there with Oxo supplying them and it would be interesting to see the two of them on the pitch at the same time.

Yes it’s time to drop Theo, him and Song are way too big for their boots and if they put that effort in a pub side they would get dropped, well they would if it were my pub side.

We are 7th for a reason people and it’s not because I want Wenger out, it’s because he refuses to change, spend money and keeps playing average players expecting them to turn into Lional Messi and Xabi.

Finally back to todays protest, I’ve been thinking what should the fans do, it’s Ok for people like me to say don’t turn up, when you’ve paid your money that can be tough, so maybe the fans should do something else, like go down to the bars 15 minutes early, it’s cold out there and the bars won’t be open, but it will show the club how you all feel, that or come out 15 minutes late for the second half.

I did that a lot last season, not so much in protest but to hoover up all the free beers Pedro and I had accumulated in Club level, beer after Arsenal is my real love and I can’t leave someone I love behind.

So if you decide to do it at the start of the second half, get a couple of pints at half time and not one.

Have a great day Grovers, early kick off, big win and enjoy the protest, whatever form it takes.

Most things have already been said about how our season has imploded, how crap Wenger is and how we MUST protest. However, I am not one for that as I feel that an already low morale at the club cannot benefit from more bad press. Yes, I know that 95% of people on this site want Wenger out, but I don’t think it is all his fault. The results you see this season are the fruits of 6 or 7 years without investing proper money on players. If Wenger goes and is replaced by ..who knows, where is the guarantee of investment? The writing has been on the wall since Vieira left after the 2005 Cup Final. Arsenal are a business – run by corporate big wigs whose only desire is money – NOT FOOTBALL. If only we could return to the days when David Dein (yes I know lots hate him) was at the club he supports. A true fan whose acumen in the transfer market was second to none, because he was chasing players to play for HIS club and win trophies, not make wedges of cash. It is a sad time for Arsenal, and I am deeply saddened as I have supported Arsenal for 45 years. I desperately want things to change just like everyone else, but see protesting as more unsettling than affirming. Think back to the result of the disruption over the summer and the start of the season – a place no true Arsenal fan wants to return to. So, I think we need to grit our teeth, back the club and push as hard as we can to maintain our Champions League place – albeit that it is not really good enough for a club like ours, but one I know every fan will grab with both hands. Keep the faith. Arsenal for life.

So damole, since you saying your heading up there, would you stay back for 15 mins & sing or do you stick your nose up to that sort of behaviour?

Or would you just rather rush back so you don’t miss your train for your long journey back?

  3. Monkeyjeffrey

Damocles just own up , sensible old chap had you bang to rights
Better you don’t even know your way to the stadium

  4. SUGA3

    Ricky, Damole,

funny that, now it’s the SK’s and IG’s fault, is it?

let’s hypothetically assume that we are bound to go on a run, trouncing everyone 5:0 in the second gear and won a treble, will it be to their credit?

  5. Damole

Yippe, I accept that not all fans can afford a ticket, thats an unfortunate part of the world we live in. Perhaps they could be generously lent them from the people who are to angry to go because things are not rosy at the moment and therefore wont be using theirs….

  6. Gunner4Real

Every time there is a criticism of the team, your first pick is always Song. As bad as you may deem Song to be, Ramsey is a major issue in our team.

We lack bite going forward. As many chances as the boy gets, his conversion rate is woeful. And we need to stop making excuses for him, he is about the same age group as Gotze, Hazard and even Wilshere. He needs to improve.

On the issue of protest, whats the point of calling ourselves fans when we cannot back the team in times of adversity.

The board and the manager are the problem. This players can only give what they have.

  7. Damole

sensible found out?? Ill send you a pic from my seat in the stadium if u like, so you can see what it looks like from a fans view. moron

  8. Bade

    What was your point again?

We need to protest, getting behind the team is amorphous phrase that means nothing when you ignore the problems Arsene’s causing

And yes, it’s Arsene’s solely fault. Well, to be fair, 95% of it is.

The best way to truly support the Arsenal, not Arsene, is just boycotting the team, not going to games, not buying merchandise, not subscribing to the Arsenal player

  9. Ricky

Suga, I blame them aswell as le senile..

If my lil’un is out on the streets acting up then I should take some of the blame for allowing him to act that way.

Could you see le senile getting away with that sort of behaviour at the mancs, Madrid, Barcelona or Munich?

    I doubt it very much.

  10. telarse

Per-shaped v Samba at set pieces – no thanks!
Per-shaped v any fucker in the air – no thanks!
Per-shaped against any fast fucker _ erm..let me think…fuck no!!

Kosser and Tommy in the middle with Sagna and Miguel/Gibbs (fit?)

Tommy’s better in the air on the ground and everywhere in between than the big geeeermin!

If Blacburn decide to attack in slow motion on the ground in the latter stages then bring him on to give someone a rest.

Haven’t been this excited about a game since………..

Hope to get a decent stream for Bolton match if Ryo’s playing, quite fancy the West Ham match too especially if Henri get’s a start.

As for the Arse…looking forward to any protest but the score will be
    totally emotionless for me – a 6-0 win…so fuck it’s Blackburn! a 2-0 defeat – so fuck it’s Arsenal!

It’s quite comforting to know that the result won’t distress and that the Mancs and Bindippers at work don’t even bother slagging any more!!

    Cheers Arsene!

  11. Lurch LeRouge

    here folks,

    Damoles really on a train.

  12. PV4

@ Bade – fair point or pointless? Catch 22 in my book, as if we protest the manager digs in, the morale sinks lower and the situation worsens. Not supporting Arsenal because of Wenger can only go so far – what about the enigmatic Gazidis or out-of-touch PHW? Surely they share the blame? And of AW is ousted won’t they still remain?

  13. Damole

Lurch, i actually thought that link was gunna show my connection to the East coast wifi. Cant believe I actually clicked it! Well played sir!

  14. RockyPires

We can afford to start without a traditional CDM in this game I do like the idea of starting le Coq in his prefered CDM but think we need our centrhalves to be good ball players as they will have alot of possesion.
Agreed Yossi needs his chance , OXO and TH12 should give RVP the extra yard of space he needs and as B’burn are without their first choice centrhalves I think we should batter em .

  15. Albo

Lordbergkamp – I don’t think either ‘side’ has a monopoly on blinkered thinking. The idea that people on here are especially open to opposing viewpoints is laughable!

Sensible old chap – the point I was making is that exposing yourself to viewpoints that oppose yours is the only way of maintaining an intelligent, balanced stance on a given matter…

  16. sensible old chap

    lol @ that pic lurch.

Haha damole says he’s using wifi – and he’s going now because he’s getting off the train… what about 3g? mobile internet? good luck watching online at home mate

  17. SUGA3

if you are talking out of your crack, then you can expect to be challenged and/or ridiculed if you come up with something particularly nonsensical…

  18. telarse

Kean should play Samba up front if Per-shaped starts in the middle for us! Can’t believe Samba and Kean haven’t sorted themselves out yet!

I should bring him back, that avatar typifies what’s missing from so many of our current squad. I just fancied having a laugh at Thierry’s expense!

  19. AC Gooner

Good post, Geoff. It is time indeed to drop Theo and Song.

And I would not call it a drop, but Ramsey needs a rest.

Not sure black bin bags are more noticeable than bright red empty seats?

I would say we need to all boycott the Arsenal on a concerted effort for one week. We spread the word that no one goes to the Emirates, no one orders shit from the store, no one eats food there if they do must go, Gooners abroad cancel red cards. Whatever you can so they see something is happening.

Kroenke and the execs running Arsenal are business men first and foremost. They will only react when they see a blip in the cash flow.

Lets make a blip so they know what the rest of the future will turn into if they dont fucking DO something.

One person cancelling their ST aint gonna do it. Or will take a much longer time for the cripple, the silent one, and uncle fester to get it.

Easier said than done. But lets see.

  20. Pedro

Banging post again Geoff… some top points in there today. Not sure about your line up, I think you’ve dropped too many… Blackburn are physical!

Reckon we’ll nick it one nil… I’m not excited about the game though.

  21. Bade

I lost any hope of Arsene, or the spineless board, hence why the fans are the only way to remove him

Booing, not attending games, boycotting, all legitimate measures in my book to show our discontent

  22. Bade

I think the joke ran it’s course, time to get back to basics ๐Ÿ™‚

Not to mention, since you’ve dome it, we weren’t able to win a game in the league

So expect Arsene to blame you today for our latest results, as it’s always someone else’s blame!

  23. Gunner2301

I used to make similar journeys. Believe me it’s much easier to do that week in week out than to stay away in order to try to make a difference any true fan would know that also.

  24. sensible old chap

Albo – when you emerge from the underground station you recieve signal again – hence you can go online once more…

  25. Cloggs

Another protest could be turning arsenal tube station back into gillespie road again as long as it needs. ๐Ÿ˜†

  26. Yippee Kai Yay

tbh, it’s only a 35 min walk from Kings X to Emirates, not much slower that going by tube by time factor in ‘engineering works’ and ‘stupid tourists’ who get in the way.

Nice day like today, perfect for a saunter.

  27. home and away

What is it with Rosicky ? why do people think he’s any good when all the evidence for the past 5 years say the opposite – oh yeh I can hear you all say he won that game at Liverpool – yes 1 fucking game !

  28. Albo

You definitely don’t want to drop Song against Blackburn. Need his physical presence. And for a team struggling for incisive football, maybe dropping the guy with a better through-ball completion rate than Modric or Silva this season isn’t the best idea…

  29. Albo

Yippee – nah, on the way there it’s never a problem. 5 or 6 mins at most. It’s only on the way out that the tube’s a nightmare. I on the other hand live on the Victoria line so am on the sodding bus replacement ๐Ÿ™

  30. Yippee Kai Yay

albo, using Song in the same sentence as Silva and suggesting he is better based upon one aspect of the game is perhaps slightly misleading.

I would suggest that if physical presence is the important factor then the ability to track and tackle is going to be more important.

But, Song will play, not because he is great (and I don’t think he is terrible, just average at some things and better at attacking than some DM’s in the Prem) but because I cannot see in the squad a player who would be better.

Maybe play TV as a DM, as he is composed on the ball and decent in the tackle, would provide more protection to kos and Per at least?

But sends out the wrong message as this is the kind of game that ‘attack is the best form of defence’, get them on the back foot.

  31. telarse

He’s on his way back , takes a while to kick in but should be here before kick-off.
Sorry for causing the bad run of results but at least that means Arsene’s off the hook for another year!

  32. Bade

Many of the goals we leaked this season were down to Songs poor positioning, covering, tracking back or offside awareness

Think people got impressed by his ancient warrior hairstyle rather than true football qualities

  33. Yippee Kai Yay

walking is definitely quicker than bus replacement, anywhere in London!

Especially on a nice crisp Saturday morning when everyone is trying to get into town and back home before the sleet / snow later on.

  34. Bade

Team in full: Szczesny, Coquelin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Song, Arteta, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Van Persie (c).

Substitutes: Fabianski, Sagna, Arshavin, Benayoun, Ramsey, Park, Henry.

Agreed, but at the moment I play it safe with Arteta,Song and risicky ( for his spirit ) or Toussi, although I consifer a bright future for Le Coq
Let us all be with our team for the match

  36. Foreheadinho

Once we have a left fullback I would love to see TV given a go at DM as a tactical move in certain games. However, there is a big difference between able to play the ball out from the back and drive through the middle compared to having to play 360 degrees in the middle of the field. Wether he could do it remains to be seen.

I have been a follower since Michael thomas . Now today is our blackest day. We are being control by money guruโ€™s. Guyโ€™s whoโ€™s greed outweighโ€™s common natural instintโ€™s. The fanโ€™s of ARSENAL FC must stand up and be counted . More Booing More anti the situation as it is now. Cos we spend our money for the team not the bosses not the manager (who has lost his fuckin mojo) Anarchy is on the fucking ajenda!

    Whoever wrote that nailed it!

  38. Squirrel

This Damole bloke has got to be Arsene’s dream fan, constantly going to games, buying the merchandise, cheering, clapping and singing one Arsene Wenger there’s only one Arsene Wenger.
Totally happy with the situation and if he’s not he will just happily sit there do nothing and hope for the best.

The man is a cunt just like Wenger

  39. telarse

I just want to see what Park’s like and TH can come on late if he’s fit.

  40. Yippee Kai Yay

Bade, it isn;t that bad, it is still Blackburn, and they are terrible, they haven’t kept a clean sheet all season in the league at all, only wigan have conceded more goals in total in the league, and they have lost 14 points from winning positions. They have 5 losses, 2 draws and three wins from last 10 games, are missing their leader of the back line.

Frankly if Arsenal don’t score at least three I would be surprised, and so would the bookies by all accounts.

Best I can get is 3-2 on 4 or more goals in total!

  41. Foreheadinho

Thank the stars that The Ox is fit and can provide some spark. Lets hope little mozart is on his game today. He has looked better of late.

  42. Sensible old chap

Tbh though even if wenger goes, another yes man chosen by PHW kronkunt etc will bring in another yes man and the status quo will continue

  43. Mustapha Jallow

Can you help me Geoff or Pedro..for Arsene Wenger to read my post…because i think he need to think like this…..If you want to succeed in the world must make your own opportunities as you go on. The man who waits for some seventh wave to toss him on dry land will find that the seventh wave is a long time a coming. You can commit no greater folly than to sit by the roadside until some one comes along and invites you to ride with him to wealth or influence

  44. kwik fit

We all think we know but do we really?
We all say smart thinks but do we really believe in what we say?
We all talk the talk but can we really when a real person is put in front of us?

  45. Bade

I reckon we’ll win this one, but that won’t paper the cracks for me.

You’r right it isn’t that bad, it is disastrous!

By the way, our last 10 league games were 4 wins, 2 draws, 4 losses

  46. Yippee Kai Yay

bade, absolutely, even a comfortable win against blackburn isn’t anything to shout about, it should be a formality.

The fact that anyone could even contemplate a draw, let alone a loss is in itself quite telling.

My biggest worry is that another poor Theo performance will also be brushed over by another goal ‘stat’ when it accidentally bounces in off his noggin. I just don’t see a good player inside of him, let alone a good one trying to get out.

He’s the Monty Panesar of Arsenal, he’s played one game two hundred times.

Still looks like Ox will start, so it might make him try harder at least.

  47. telarse

Cheers Bade, I was too busy picking and typing our best available team.
Per-shaped,Song and Feo on and Verm, who I love in the middle, at left back – where he has so totally fucked up on recent goals conceded v Man U and Swansea??

  48. Cloggs

    Squirrel, 12:17,
The same clueless cunt that tries to start a mexican wave at HT when
    we’re two nil down.

my bodyguard will deal with you, his name is Gervinho ๐Ÿ˜†

I was trying to jinx then jinx the jinx, hopefully

Sometimes making the jinx public kills it

Hope to backjinx it this way!

Got to have an excuse ready you know!!!

  52. Foreheadinho

Gervinho has nothing on me Bade. With his comb forward dreaded locks it would be like being butted by a pillow. And I have seen how easy it is to knock the Gerv over. You best find a new protector. The Verminator might make me think twice at least…
