Wilshere out till Christmas, what about Vermaelen, what is wrong with our medics?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I find it absolutely bizarre that we can lose players for so long and not do anything about it when it’s happening at the time and before the window shuts, oh how could it have been had we signed Mata, Hazard and Cahill instead of Park, Yossi and Santos.

By that I mean that we lost Rosicky for nearly 2 years, lost Eduardo for a year, Ramsey for 9 months, Vermaelen for 13 months (so far) Djourou for over a year and God knows how long we’ve lost Robin and Gibbs for.

You can’t do anything about injuries I realise that, but surely we should look at replacing players when we know they are out for so long?

So why don’t our medical team tell the manager that we’ll be without players for long periods, or that there is a possibility that we may be without them and allow us to start a season with a full squad, then when the injured players return we’ll worry about who the best player is and what to do with them, I know we have squad sizes but we do have a lot of kids in there that could drop out if need be.

Anyway there’s nothing we can do now, but we should take on board this situation from January, if Vermaelen is now a crock then he needs replacing, I would with Cahill, but then I would have done that in May.

Let’s hope we see the Cahill of last season today, the one that got sent off, today won’t be easy, because no one will be easy and this team is pretty awful, so the best we can hope for is for the defence to try and play like they did in Dortmund, Mertesacker is a good player, never mind his speed, Tony wasn’t fast and nor is John Terry, he’ll come good, it’s the hopelessness surrounding him that bothers me.

Still what will we do today? This would be my shout.

Sagna Mertesacker Miquel Santos

Coquelin Ramsey Arteta

Oxo Robin Gervinho

I would give Oxo another go and keep Theo for Wednesday, this team ought to be enough to see Bolton off, It’s not that I think we are that bad (really), it’s we don’t have a clue how to play together yet, we will, of that there is no doubt and maybe today will see that happening.

Don’t forget last season we were short of three world class players, a centreback a DM and a goalscorer, then we sold Nasri and Cesc, neither of them have been replaced and we still need the three we needed last season, so why are we surprised at the results? I’m not.

Anyway keep ’em crossed and keep the faith, let’s begin our season today!

Have a great day Grovers.

Lampards been average for the last year or so..

Mata looks likely to be there main creative midfielder now… Gotta say we seem to have missed out on a good little player there.

  2. OPG

Blackburn were up for it last weekend with it being at home and took advantage of the defensive mistakes.
The way they defend though they look like relegation candidates.

    on lower attendances…
It is linked with a combination of two things. First of all we had disappointing results recently and the second factor is that we are going towards a huge financial crisis which has been already in the society. We will be hit much more and I think football suffers from the consequences as well. You can look at all the clubs in England and the Premier League seats go slower and slower out. The stadiums will be less quickly full and we have noticed that already. We are maybe a special case because we had disappointing results but the other clubs had the same problem.

    any thoughts on this?

bolton had about 200 fans there today, it was empty in the away end. considering we have been on the ropes recently its surprising,

city was half empty at their game today as well. I dont think they could ever sell out a stadium for 3 games a week like arsenal do.

arsenall had 45 thousand vs shrewsbury which is actually incredible considering its just a glorified friendly

  4. incesc

45 thousand vs shrewsbury is probably more than citeh would get if they got to a cup final.

chelsea dont sell out stamford shite for champions league games

arsenal fans are a good bunch obviously

  5. incesc

think ramsey looks like he might be a top top player

absolute pleasure to see him play today

hes no cesc but hes closer to the spanaird than wilshere.

ramsey and wilshere is a great combination, wilshere will wow people but ramsey will control out game for 10 years hopefully.

  6. incesc

people compare him to denilson but every time ramsey gets the ball hes already had a look and hes ahead of the game.

once he matures hes a fucking player and a half.

you cant dominate a midfield at his age now but he will start doing it soon

  7. Lurch LeRouge

    watching the game again…

hes on his way back yeah, but the magic touch and chances he used to create from nothing aren’t quite back yet.

  8. incesc

i watched him all game, physically hes not there right now at all but when it clicks for him hes gonna be a player and a half

  9. incesc

gibbs scares the shit out of me at left back,

its not his fault really as no one covers him and he is always in 2 minds who to play.

we seem to always leave a man unmarked and gibbs has to mark 2 players but nevers convincingly covers anyone

  10. incesc

to be fair 2nd half we were great today bolton didnt have chance

lets hope it carries on next weekend

we need to beat the spuds

I don’t mean to contribute to the poxy comments count but I disagree with the rMsey closer to Cesc statement. That was the feelings expressed by the Coaching staff when he first arrived. 3 years on I just don’t see it.

i dont think ramsey will ever see the game as fast as cesc can but i see the abiltity in him to get near that.

cesc was a one off but ramsey reads the game really well, he needs his body to work as fast as his mind.

he does lack a speed f touch and a turn of pace right now. hopefully its coming.

lampard and gerrard never had that though

  13. Lurch LeRouge

yeah he relies on his recovery pace a little too much, think he needs to temper his attitude to get forward a little, he was a midfielder by trade if im not mistaken.

  14. incesc

    put it this way

can ramsey be better than flaminis best season and be a lot more cultured on the ball and creative?

    i think so

  15. bade the gooner (bernard)

well, ok, i’ll try to, but i thought you people would complete the job. it’s nonsense you didn’t. you became arsenes yourselves eh?

  16. bade the gooner (bernard)

wow, think about it, 60 consecutive comments? looks like a megalomaniac project. arsene? that suit you….. you should come in here one night and take revenge of us all….. and maybe explain few odd decisions too…..

  17. bade the gooner (bernard)

remember, i predicted 3 wins in September, the problems lay ahead in October, so we’re not out of it yet, hold your horses

  18. bade the gooner (bernard)

by the way, Norwich and Sunderland plays each other, so we might drop to 13th if either of them win it……

  19. bade the gooner (bernard)

we closed two points of the gap on the mancs in top of the table… for the first time this season the gap narrowed and didn’t widen up, mmmmmm red nose is shaking eh?

  20. bade the gooner (bernard)

i think mancs were lucky to get a point out of the Britania ….. they were bullied as i predicted and some people thought i was insane….

  21. bade the gooner (bernard)

stoke will be a power in the league this season….. don’t rule them out for 4th …. and i said that two weeks ago already

  22. bade the gooner (bernard)

i still think we are on verge of two very bad months…. hope i’m mistaking, but you have to look ahead with fear

  23. bade the gooner (bernard)

October we have 5 very tough games, 3 away, opening with spuds away, closing with chavs away, and in it we have Marseilles away in CL

  24. bade the gooner (bernard)

the early emergence of jack will cost him crocking up …. fack it, he doesn’t deserve it, he’s a beast. it’s your responsibility arsene!

  25. SUGA3

I am slightly more optimistic about the October games, but still, I am really concerned about our defenders playing against Adebayor, he made the oppo defence look ridiculously slow y’day…

  26. SUGA3

he will want to kill two birds with one stone:

    – give us another ‘look what you are missing’ show
    – placate the scum fans, he knows that there is nothing they would like better than being able to taunt us

I guess this calls for a chant swap, elephants and all that 😆

  27. SUGA3

The iPhone is useless to an immature person like myself.

I type “5318008” into the calculator and turn it upside down, but the screen rights itself.

  28. SUGA3

A Chinese man has died in a river in Beijing.

Police say that he may have been saved if the first 5 people to see him hadn’t thought they were looking at their reflection.

  29. SUGA3

BBC SPORT: Kilmarnock interested in Belgian defender Mark de Man.

Apparently, they are also interested in his compatriots, striker Skor de Gaulle and goalkeeper Bloek de Schott.

  30. SUGA3

yep, at last, let us hope we will have an equally happy Wednesday evening and next Sunday…

Spuds have a game in hand and still more points than us, if we win, we go above them, if we lose, we may even drop to bottom 3…

  31. SUGA3

zeus must be preparing his press conference:

‘Yez, Le Grove managed 1,000 comments on a day when we won ze game, but eet waz a result of comment doping perpetrated by ze selected few.’

‘You have to ask yourself a question of what do you call a comment. There waz these few posters who seem to have an agenda against me’

‘Yez, I do understand zat Kwik Fit waz out injured’

  32. SUGA3

even though I work at a Manc (both) and Spud-free office, with the only Chav fan being a top bloke and not rubbing stuff in (all you mugs can start being green with envy now), it feels good to go there on Monday with one’s head held high…

without having a schmoke in the morning, that is…

  33. Mayank

Overall I am pleased with the result but Lurch has suffered a classic hangover. Hopefully he will be back for the game against Olympiakos.

  34. bade the gooner (bernard)

i knew your the only one to succeed my mission….

i always know you’r the reliable lad eh? 🙂

yes we can, we smashed the 1000 by far!

  35. SUGA3

£30M? of course it is bollocks at this time of the season, but I reckon Kroenke would bite their hands off and gift-wrap the fella for the dirty Arabs…

I reckon that it would cause a minor riot, Cesc was not Mr Arsenal the way RvP is…

    save us, Jabba!

  36. bade the gooner (bernard)

well, i don’t know about that sug,

bollox? it remains to be seen, the things is robin as the other seniors lost their belief in arsene, so as long as he stays no way they are going to stay…..

if arsene thinks bringing squillaci was the marquee signing of last season, and what was done this season is acceptable for him (and we thank TV’s fitness for the addition of per, otherwise…..), so its glaring he lost the plot and he’s went so so far away…..

so why for robin, theo, arshavin, tommy to stay, when they can get more money elsewhere and a real chance of trophies rather than emirates cup and 4th place ones (giving that we’ve already missed on the emirates, and on course of missing on 4th spot)….

  37. gooner-pak

how relieved on feels after victory.. whole world seems to be arsanlized – not ivan one – no tension no nothing for week ahead

  38. SUGA3

seriously, if we lose all four, I will switch from the ‘supporter’ to the ‘follower’ mode and remain one until Wenger and the ‘board’ are replaced…

that means rigidly observed stadium exile and zero merchandise purchases…

losing Cesc was still remotely acceptable, given the story with Barca DNA and all that…

Theo should just sign the extension, given how little he contributed so far, RvP should repay the love when he was out injured all this time, ditto Vermaelen…

the only one I would understand is AA, given that Wenger treated him like shit…

  39. bade the gooner (bernard)

    agree sug,

i think when the negotiations with those stall, the board will panic and kick arsene out, as even mugs like them will get the real message, and will foresee the empty seats of next season…..

the funny thing is, as nuch as arsene is crap lately, sporting wise, he will be the first manager to get sacked on “financial basis”….

wouldn’t that be ironic? to sack the accountant manager on economic basis?

  40. SUGA3

if RvP is Mr Arsenal he is hailed to be, he would just lay down the law:

‘You duped me into signing the extension previously, now I want to see some action before I put the pen to the paper, you know the supporters will fucking lynch the lot of you if I am sold’
