City buy was on trial with Arsenal | Nasri back in training | Cesc on strike

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I’m struggling to know where to look for stories at the moment… everywhere you look there is a negative tale to tell. By the sounds of it, our squad could be decimated by the time we go away on tour. We’ve lost a decent left back to our rivals, Samir Nasri staying seems to be very unlikely and Arsenal are holding out for £39million for Cesc.

What is even more depressing is that Harry Redknapp spent 9 hours on Sky the other night saying all the things I’d like to hear our manager saying.

‘Top players cost top money’

‘You can’t keep trying to make miracles out of bargains’

‘Why would we want to sell our best players? We have to keep hold of them and show we have the same ambition as everyone else’

‘He’s a good player but he’s got a long way to go, he’s just a baby’

Those are the sort of sentences that never fall from the mouth of Arsene Wenger. Our manager is too obsessed with FFP and financial doping to worry about the problems in hand, namely that our squad could be 3 first team players down and at least 6 top players away from mounting a challenge.

The Alvarez deal was hijacked by Inter Milan after we dragged our feet. Yet another example of incompetency when it comes to purchasing players. Now, I’m not bothered about the player. His injury record, lack of Premier League experience and lack of YouTube footage leaves me distinctly uninspired about his signing, even more so after listening to Argentinian podcasters slate him. My anger about it is firstly it was reportedly down to a fee issue when we have bundles of cash. Secondly, he was a target, he’s been a target for months and we’ve missed out. People can bleat on that I don’t know anything about him so it shouldn’t matter. Well, Wenger knew about him, he has a keen eye for flair talent, so in my humble opinion, he’s probably quite a good player.

Put it this way, I didn’t know anything about Rosie Huntingdon until I went to the cinema last week, doesn’t mean I’d be ok with missing her call…

Another snippet I was made aware of is that Manchester City’s new boy Savic was on trial with us last year. Another player we can stick in squad for W.N.B.H (We Nearly Bought Him) FC.

Cesc was at the club yesterday, he wasn’t on strike as some of the news houses reported. He was ‘injured’. Speculating on whether the injury is real or not is farcical, I’d never do that, he’s definitely injured, for sure. The rest of the gang joins training today, Andrey, RvP and Samir will be hooking up with Arsene Wenger. I’d imagine there will be some showdown talks. So lets see what comes out of those.

If ever there was a time to make some signings of intent, it’s when your two best players are saying they want out because they want to challenge. Sorry to make another Spurs reference, but RvDV was asked if Modric wanted to move for the riches of Chelsea. He said that players at a certain level aren’t interested in the riches, it’s about titles. This is a great point, it seems every player who wants to leave Arsenal is a money grabber… people seem to ignore the fact that as fans we’ve been promised titles and we’re disappointed. Imagine if you were a player and you didn’t support the club? Why would you stay if you’d been let down by the manager over the past 3 years?

Wenger hasn’t provided Cesc and Nasri the platform to win trophies. If he’d remedied the squad last year, I’ve no doubt we wouldn’t be in the position right now. All of this going on right now is the fault of the manager. He can’t blame financial constraints when he has a £115million wage bill and a £35million transfer fund that has been at his disposal for 2 seasons.

Hey, you never know, Arsene might persuade one of the two their future is at Arsenal…

So where does he go from here should the worst happen?

Well, for me, the temptation for a man like Arsene Wenger would be to build a team around Wilshere and Rambo. That’s a recipe for long term injuries and burn out if you ask me. If we’ve got £42million right now, we’d add £39million + £20million and we’d have £101million to blow on the transfer market.

You could bring in 5 players who want to play for the club with a budget like that, you could change the whole attitude of the club. I’m not saying I want to flog our two best players… but if they want out and they’re going to sulk this season, maybe getting shot of them is for the best in medium term.

I guess our strategy all depends on which video’s GilYou GrimanTube has been watching… I’m seriously doubting our scouting network and their ability to uncover talent. Time for them to earn their corn. We haven’t had a plan b in the transfer market for about 7 years. Lets hope those 300 players who were calling Arsene a few years ago are still on the Frenchman’s contact list!

P.S. Check out Tim Payton in the Independent talking about Arsenal and their policies.

WTL, imo they both washed up managers both were successful but both haven’t seen success since I was at school. FACT

I’m not going go round defending other manager just to make a point about our manager not being the man for the job, he does that on his own.

  2. Wenger the liar

    DNA –

Its not meant to be a dig at Arsene I am simply pointing out that as he has won the league 4 times he may have a clue about what he doing.

  3. Evan

WTL – I think that if we were signing those players for that money, many people on Le Grove would be slating Wenger even more. I don’t believe i will be one of them shocked people,

I have no faith in Wenger nor the board. What would be a shock?

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Fellani and Sakho, Benzema. And Nasri stays, unfortunately none of that will happen, as we are acting like a small club

  4. frenchie

charlie adam for 7m + player is not a bad bit of business. especially if you look at the fact gerrard is broken so often. if arsenal were able to move some deadweight in that manner, i would be fine.

  5. pharo9ja

since we’re on the topic, can anyone post a list of shit french/african midgets we’ve signed under wenger?

  6. Rohan

Anyone seen the pictures Arsenal posted of fans with the new kit on facebook?
    hahaha, proper laugh they are.

  7. Skandibird

Man @17.01 = If you have a season ticket I’d love to meet up with you at one of the home games so that I can slap you properly in the face, and then you can go crying to your mama and say ”mummy I was hit by a girl and it hurt’!!!

  8. Wenger the liar

    LOL @ Skandibird

I saw someone Jew bashing yesterday then go onto say we need to bring david dein back.

    fucking clueless.

  9. Gunner

Bryan Swanson has just told us gervinho is nearing a deal for 1000th time. Does he realise he’s telling us the same thing all the time ? jesus christ

  10. Gunnernet

We don’t need Gervinho, Cahill, Mata..

We don’t need even Samir or Cesk to stay..

WE NEED DAVID DEIN BACK!!! Fucking cunts at board bring back our man and then go fuck off all of you..

Gervinho? At 24? Just a much worse version of Sylvain Wiltord. Definenety not the impact player. Worrying times mates..

  11. Nick the Greek Gooner from Ealing

So not bothered if we have signed The forehead, we probably won’t announce on Arsenal.con till next Thursday.

  12. Graham O'Keeffe

Right the last post I put up was WENGER YOUR A CUNT. I stand by this but id add one thing Sami if you go to Man City as is being widely reported YOUR AN EVEN BIGGER CUNT!!!. Not 2 weeks ago you tweeted its not about the money. You obviously think we are as stupid as le prof thinks we are. If your going to move for “trophies” then the only move would be to Man U.

On a more constructive comment I concur with the comments on why can we not wrap transfer deals up early especially if we know we cant compete with any of the big premiership and euro clubs. It seems simple to me step1) put an offer in step 2) if the offer is accepted negotiate terms with the player step3) If the offer is refused increase the offer and then repeat step 2. step 4) once both agreed announce signing and transfer list the wantaway or player new signing has come in to replace.

It doesnt seem a difficult process unless your Ivan and AW.

God I hate being an Arsenal fan my Mrs is a Manc as is all her family it hurts to see how far weve slipped.

  13. pharo9ja

I only ask because if you consider what crap is posted on here you would think super jack wilshire, ramsey, RVP, cesc, walcott, denilson, shceszney(sp); hell kozzer, squilachi, almunia, fabianski &bedtner have cost us in recent times more than song & eboue aren’t french/african are they?
Making excuses for t he fuckwits who add a racial slur to highlite a deficiency (that we all can see except wenger) is even more retarded.

  14. Man

LOL @ Skandibird. Manishma. Don’t take it personally. Trust me, what I’m doing is for the good of all reading the site…don’t worry.

  15. DeiseGooner

frenchie, that was his 3rd medical, his fourth one was today and he failed it…… hes still 3-1 up though with 2 more to go….

  16. frenchie

    deise-

i know many on here who are not convinced by him, but gervinho is quality. i watched a number of lille matches, mainly to observe the midget hazard, and was more impressed with forehead than midget (but still rate the midget highly). i wonder if the responses i hear or read about his entrance into arsenal are based on the build up of chamack just prior to his signature. frankly, i never rated chamack–the better player on that bourdeaux side was gourcuff–the system blanc had in place was the reason they did so well.

    if you care…

  17. Rohan

“Back in the summer of 1995, Dein had recruited Dennis Bergkamp from Inter Milan, the Dutchman costing a then record fee of £7.5 million and becoming the first major foreign star to switch to Highbury. Wenger, at Grampus Eight at the time, had been consulted over his recruitment. Dein and Hill-Wood had sought his advice and the Alsatian had given the signing his approval.”
Quoted from Xavier Rivoire’s “Arsene Wenger”.

  18. DeiseGooner

just messin about frenchie, seems like hes been having a medical for 2 weeks now .. going by the all knowing press 😉

  19. Dial Square

Skandi i have a season ticket, you can spank me if you want, but dont tell anyone on here that i asked you.

  20. frenchie

    deise-

i got it…just because i am french in heritage, does not mean i am dense like say a certain other frenchman we all know and love. 🙂

  21. Rohan

Didn’t know that. It does go some way to debunking the myth that Wenger had nothing to do with Bergkamp. Which is pretty funny really. Never knew that.

  22. OPG

Hmm so United managed to get rid of Wes Brown, O shea and Gibson maybe next, why is it so simple for them..

  23. Santos

Does anybody suspect that we might take a punt on Owen Hargreaves? Strange things happen these days!!

  24. Wenger the liar

Rioch told BBC Sport Online: “There has been some real quality players to have played for Arsenal like Liam Brady, Charlie George and Alex James – you could go right the way back through the history of the football club.

“But you could describe Dennis Bergkamp as one of the all-time greats to have played for Arsenal, no doubt about it.”

Rioch admitted that Bergkamp was his chief target as soon as he moved to Arsenal following a highly-successful spell in charge of Bolton Wanderers.

“Before I arrived Alan Smith had retired and Kevin Campbell had decided he was leaving the club so we had lost two strikers straight away.

“I needed to bring some more firepower into the club so we drew up a list of players and Dennis was one of those who was available.”

Rioch also wanted a creative force to properly harness the goalscoring genius of Ian Wright.

“He fitted in brilliantly with Ian Wright,” said the ex-Gunners boss.

“Ian played off the shoulder and liked to make forward runs and Dennis was a player who dropped into that position we call ‘the hole’ – in between defenders and midfielders.

“Once he received he was able to put Ian away but, as has been shown, he could also contribute his share of goals.”

  25. frenchie

    rohan-

i have no answer to that then…perhaps our shit is less sought after than manure’s shit?

  26. Pat

I’ve heard whispers we’re after Thiago Motta from Inter. I’d be delighted if true. Ticks all the right boxes, even the typical ‘injury prone.’ one! Very good player though

  27. Pat

Wouldn’t surprise me if the Motta rumors have something to do with Nasri going to Inter. If we can keep everyone, except Clichy who is now gone, and add Mata, Gervinho, a CB (or 2 but not realistic) and a LB(cissokho?) we’d look pretty good.

A cdm would be nice too, but 5 signings in 1 window? Hard to see.

  28. frenchie

cross has stated the 2 cb’s is not far off. but i doubt that would occur. i am interested in this cissokho rumor; it does not go away.

  29. Arse&Nose©

Anyone crying about Nasri leaving consider this
Hleb and Adebayour were better than him over 3 seasons and we didn’t miss them.

  30. Evan

Inter Milan chief executive Ernesto Paolillo (b4 signing Alvarez)

“We have to sell, then after we have sold we will see what Inter will buy,” said Paolillo. “The first move will be selling and not buying.”

    Inter then sign Alvarez

On queue the lazy english press think, maybe Arsenal could sign Motta he will be surplus (run the story)

to which we all talk about some potential signing on le grove

Best bit, his agent quotes the player ain’t interested.. sounding familiar?

  31. DeiseGooner

Man – that wasnt Wenger on holidays – it was a cover operation for the Song prison breakout……

in those pics – is that Frimpong in pic 18 – that kid looks mean

  32. Man

Hahaha Deise, Arsene ‘jason bourne’ Wenger eh…yeah it is Frimpong. He looks like a tough cookie. I think he is a boy with a man’s body…reminds me of how Rooney was at that age.

  33. Pat

NBS says that Darren Dein apparently has a vendetta against Arsenal since his dad was ‘treated poorly’

  34. gooner

Cissokho and Cahill are no1 priority. Build from the back. Then we can worry about the ramifications of losing Cesc/Nasri, but it must be said that they will need to be replaced by quality like Hazard AND Mata. It will cost but its needed

  35. Skandibird

DialSquare= happy to oblige, most men prefer their naked bottom spanked/slapped, allegedly, or so my friends tells me….. ???

  36. pharo9ja

england should convince frimpong to play for her.
I’d like to see him(pre injury form) given a run of games….in the carling cup.

  37. Rohan

Thiago Motta? Fuck me, I’d be absolutely delighted with me. Absolutely chuffed. Even better than De Rossi probably.

Can’t believe it’s the first time his name’s popped up on here.

He may well not be French (as one of 28 child in how could he be anything else but African!?), but he is african, and his choice of hair colouring renders him a bit of a cunt. He also seems rather arrogant (if stories of his henchman beating the shit out of people is to be believed). Personally calling someone a cunt had never struck me as very racist. Rude and obscene granted, racist, no.

  49. Rohan

The question really is: When you call him a “French-African cunt”, is he a cunt partly because he is “French African” ?

    hmmmm…I wonder. 😀

I have no problem with the word cunt. In fact I think you are a cunt if you do not recognise that calling someone an African cunt is racist. You can call him a cunt if you feel like it but there is no reason to bring African or French, you refer to a general description or stereotype that is linked to his racial origin, one which he shares with many others.

  53. incesc

i think we can safely say transfer season is over.

    jenkinson, myachi, gervinho and vermalean

ramsey for cesc if he goes, gibbs for clichy and gervinho for nasri

no one will by squid, denilson will go, bendtner too.

    we might get a bargain.

    done

  54. DaleDaGooner

So which mug actually took that serious?? Anyway, the French African bullshit needs to stop, don’t hide behind comedy to make racist remarks. Calling someone a midget is also bang out of order…..Let’s kick racism out of Europe. Peace!

    6. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Wenger: “I don’t look at passports”. Like hell you don’t!!

Players who are either African, French, or French speaking…

Abou Diaby, Bacary Sagna, Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny, Samir Nasri, Alex Song, Sebastian Squillaci, Johan Djourou, Emmanuel Eboue, Maraoune Chamakh and now Gervinho. I think we can clearly see a bias here, and its fucking unhealthy for a squad. Never mind the fact that the club they play for is in England… Over Half of em are actually rubbish!! FFS.

Its not about being racist or not. Its about Wenger eyes being blinkered whenever a French/African player gets mentioned.

  62. Yandi

    incesc

I find it hilarious people actually mentioning the likes of Mata and Benzema. Honestly, why the fuck would a player like Karim Benzema, at 24 leave Real Madrid for Arsenal!? Yes, maybe 5 years ago when we were part of the elite… In 2011? Fuck No. If he joined Arsenal in the fucking state we’re in today, Id seriously question his ambition as a player. If Karim Benzema leaves Madrid, it won’t be for North London, that Im sure of.

Mata? Well let’s see. He plays for a club in Spain (not France) thats actually qualified for the Champions League, and have won something in the last 6 years, including Wenger’s coveted “Beating Barca” trophy. He has the world at his feet and is coveted by top, ambitious clubs around Europe. Arsenal? We can’t offer him high wages. We sure as hell can’t offer him trophies. Why should he choose us?

  63. DeiseGooner

    WALCOTT
    BENDTNER

  64. Ricky

I was told by someone close to the club 2-3 weeks ago that wenger’s preparing to put in a serious offer for benz.. I cant take wenger seriously but the fella that told me has no reason to lie so it could be true now the story’s come back to life.

I can think of a few good reasons why benz would join us. Regular first team football is one, being a key player in the squad, main front man, being around he’s french chums & the opportunity to play in the epl & as crazy as it sounds playing under wenger could be attractive for him.. Theres no way i’d want him here to take our minds away from cesc & nasri leaving, just dont add up.

Buying him would deffo help keep nasri & maybe even cesc happy.

  65. DaleDaGooner

    Few names

Bergkamp, Henry joined us from bigger clubs at the time when we weren’t all that. Bergkamp joined us while Rioch was manager, not all fun times was it?

Benzema CAN join us, Mata CAN join us. We can be frustrated but fuck me we aren’t the spuds and we did not get relegated…chin up a bit will ya? Dang, ya’ll starting to sound like the papers, SCholes mancs, chavs and spuds with this doom

  66. incesc

    i believe wenger likes benzema

he is a tailor made wenger signing.

whether we would actually do the neccesary financially to sign him is laughable.

  67. Santos

We are the 21st team in ligue un. Traditionally, this team should consist of London players. Okay not totally London players. But that would create a sort of pride for the club, if we did have a number of Local players and established Europeans, not overpopulating the team with Francophonic players. Obviously its why we are often criticized. We lack Englishness.

  68. Santos

Benz would defo turn us around. But we ought to show a certain level of ambition before we could sign him.

  69. tiarnan

Its 1.37am, and under the flickering street light a coke can rattles along the cobblestones – rattle, rattle, rattle – said the coke can.

In the distance footsteps can be heard. The footsteps are hard and efficient and rendolent of a man who spent his schooldays fantasising about running his fingers through Hitlers naughty moustache.

“Crunch”. The mans foot crumples the coke can, killing it dead. He smiles. It reminds him of that time he masturbated to the cold blooded murder of Bambis mother.

More footsteps can be heard. The footsteps are quick…nervous. They belong to a man who knows his time is near. He shouldn’t be there. Not tonight.

The two men are face to face, surrounded by shadows of dead rats and posters asking “was Karl Marx right?”.

    A note is passed.

The nervous man runs off and is never seen from again.

The other man, the coke can killer, reads the note.

“Oooooh I reckon Wengers gonna put a bid in for Benzema next week, for £27m….oooh I say!”

    ——

I’m just wondering – when people say they have inside contacts – is this the kind of shit that goes on?? Its all very exciting isn’t it?

Well what do you do when the “London” boys aren’t that good? How many Mancs are playing for red nose these days? How many foreigners on his team? Maureen brought in quite a few Portuguese speaking players and French speaking ones.

  71. DaleDaGooner

But I agree Wenger is over reliant on his young compatriots and he sure is annoying with his philosophy in football transfer market, while he may have some sense of how it should be, i think he is extreme in his Ligue 1 shopping.

Also, an EPL players do need a core of English players along the spine that would not allow the team to go down without a fight, e.g Wilshere, Walcott in the last season

  72. incesc

    its not even about passports

its about players that have proved they can play in our league.

    thats what man u do.

last year squid, koz and chamakh,

    all risks, all failed

  73. ardentgooner

The whole nationality thing is bull shit…as long as the players are good it doesn’t matter…the problem is that we dont have those good players…… The Inter Milan team which won i think two seasons back didn’t have a single italian in the starting 11

  74. DaleDaGooner

The problem is not in who is in the squad as they have all shown at some point that they can actually win games, the problem is in leadership in the playing squad, philosophy, tactics and the famous mental strength, this is the board and Wenger’s fault, it has nothing to do with Chamakh, Koz or Squid for that matter, Man U had players on par with these 3 but still got them to do more

  75. Santos

People often slate Stewart Downing here. But he is a kind of player we lack: a hardworking winger, not a makeshift one. I would have him or Adam Johnson over Rosicky. We really need pacy and furious wingers of that calibre. He could be a Valencia for us. Share your thoughts!

  76. Bolo

Johnson yes, Downing no thanks. Don’t see anything special about him. Johnson now is someone with some serious talent, my fav english player, don’t know how he didn’t know how he didn’t make the world cup team, crazy.

  77. zeus

No way is Argentina winning this tournament. 20 minutes in and Messi hasn’t touched the ball 5 times proper.

Argues playing like some mid table EPL team. Going long and impatient. Banega who I do like is nowhere near Riquelme’s level yet. Doesn’t have that guile, that instinct to slow it down and speed it up in an instant.

Tevez as usual a bumbling baffoon in an Argentine shirt and Lavezzi is so hit and miss in touch and passing it ain’t funny.

Banega nit doing well to link with Messi, tevez and levazzi not doing enough to spread out the defense for messi to exploit.

  78. zeus

Morena misses an empty goal. Hahahahaha. Argie should be 2-0 down. Milito is so shit, dreadful back pass

  79. Santos

I saw one chart about our great transfer history for these legendary six years on Daily Mail. Last year was the shrewdest. They said Wenger has launched a 27 million bid for the Benz. Is he trying to please us, so that when it fails, we would tell him he tried and that we are content with Gervinho and Jenkinson?

  80. santino

Highly rated Udinese and Colombia international defender Cristian Zapata is being sold from Serie A club Udinese to Villarreal in La Liga. Zapata is currently playing with the Colombia side in Copa America 2011, so if this report is true, he will not have a medical and finalize the transfer until after Colombia has been eliminated from the tournament. The fee for the player is believed to be 7 million Euros.

  81. ardentgooner

Messi booed at the end of the game..haha..looks no where near world class when he’s with argentina…..disinterested lazy… How shit is the argie defence..Colombia should have won the game…

  82. zeus

What an awful Argentine performance. Messi saying he thinks he will win a WC is funny. Xavi and Iniesta really does a lot for his game. A pity Riquelme isn’t in the team to link with him. Banega nd Gago are POOR replacements.

  83. zeus

Messi can’t do it on his own and that is why he will never be better than El Diego.

Maradona was the be all and end all in every team he played in and he thrived under that pressure. Messi………….not so much.

  84. Rich

Joey Barton is a very underrated player IMO
I would take him over Eboue 4 cover at RB for Sagna and in a flash over both Diaby and Denilson, he might upset a few in the dressing room??
Arsenal is not a social club, we need a player who knows the league inside out, does the nasty little things in the game well, and contrary 2 certain opinions is an excellent player, 3.5 mill which is being quoted is a snip, a squad player who will push players in front of him in the team all the way,

  85. G STAR

Either what Brady told me is true or else the Daily Mail use this site as a source for their stories

    So I relayed what I was told which was;

    Gervinho to sign
Maxwell to be included in the Cesc deal
    A bid for Benzema
Nasri to sign new contract (hope hes right about this one)
    And I also mentioned Baines.

Read the Daily Mail and theres your proof that im not lying about what brady told me. I have no reason to lie.

Only thing is, suggesting these deals and making them happen are completely different things.

Im still hopeful though as I was assured Wenger is being active, all be it discretely.

    Dublin Gooner

  86. jay2oh

Lille manager has said the deal is not yet done. Should go through by the end of the week. WHY DOES IT TAKE ARSENAL A MONTH TO A PLAYER? Man utd signed Jones and young within days. Liverpool signed Henderson quickly. City signed Clichy quickly. Spurs got friedel in fast. The board are just so fucking cuntish. Anything to save a few quid. The sooner they fuck off with Wenger the better.

  87. Larry kamvy

Theo is looking as if he’s been lifting weights for a while……..could he be prepairing for the striker role this cumming season?………could be the next Henry if he works hard..

  88. Rohan

It’s COMING. Not CUMMING. It’s proper infuriating that. It’s not even shorthand. It’s a longer word.

  89. Larry kamvy

I have a bad feeling about the nasri situation……..i think we may actually sell him off this summer. But maybe, just maybe Hazard could be our marquee signing that wenger has been so secretive about!

  90. gambon

Lol Wenger isnt being secretive about anything.

He just doesnt want to sign anyone, hes too busy on holiday & he’s mentally ill.
