Song finally off? | Vela following him… | Samba considering switch!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Just a quick post for you this morning as I’m pretty damn hungover!

Alex Song, after 5 odd years at the club, has finally managed to land himself some newspaper inches with Inter Milan supposedly throwing their hat in the ring to sign the defensive midfielder. Now, as you can imagine, this is a rumour that I’m quite pleased about. I’ve never really been too keen on the consistently average Cameroonian. I have question marks over his love for the club and I’ve heard that he’s on the look out for his next big contract. If we could earn £14million out of him, as far as I’m concerned, we’d be shifting a problem player off our books.

The slower pace of life in Italy would probably suit him down to the ground in Italy… and at least we have Denilson ready to take over from him next season! Or perhaps we could throw in favourite Frimpong into the first team next year?

The other player apparently on the move is world-class party planner, Carlos Vela. He’s mulling over a move to Italy, a country where high-class hookers are a Government worker standard. If he can’t make it on the football front, I’m sure he could gather himself a couple of ho’s and tap into the Berlusconi market… said to be worth a gross annual average of £332million a year… If I’m that horny at 70, throw a bucket of cold water over me and give me a high five.

Carlos is a bit of an enigma. He has all the talent in the world to be a truly fantastic player, yet when it’s come down to the crunch, he’s gone missing. I can’t work out why he hasn’t made it. He hasn’t really been given a fair crack at the whip from where I’m sitting. That said, if Nik B is looking better than you outwide in training, perhaps you’re doing something wrong in training?

Finally, we’re looking at Chris Samba again. Well, so say the Daily Mail. Why are they saying that? I’d imagine it’s something called, ‘let’s see what the Gooner’s are talking about online, then make up a story so they’ll click our links.’

Bravo Daily Mail, I clicked your stupid link. You’ve had me!

I like the huge Congolese defender. I think he’d be a terrific plan b defender and he’d certainly make us more solid from set pieces. I’m not sure he’s the one though… I think we’re more likely to be interested in Gary Cahill. That seems to have gone quiet, no doubt the Daily Mail have just landed their story for tomorrow!

The Independent has confidently predicted Eboue, Denilson and Rosicky will be on their way. I’d love that to be the case, somehow though, I’m not quite so sure. I’d love it if some of our players cared enough about the game to seek employment elsewhere even if it was for a pay cut! I’m not going to excite myself at the prospect though. I don’t think there will be an overhaul this summer. I reckon there will be talk of it, we’ll all re-sign for our season tickets, then we’ll listen to the manager justify his project all summer… bad times.

Right, see you in the comments!

“A blind bloke walks into a shop with a guide dog. He picks the Dog up and starts swinging it around his head. Alarmed, a shop assistant calls out: ‘Can I help, sir?’ ‘No thanks,’ says the blind bloke. ‘Just looking.'”

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Arsenal, with a reported £35million war chest, will be set for a busy summer in the transfer market, the Gunners boss is not to be drawn on potential targets – having been strongly linked with Blackburn defender Christopher Samba, Bolton’s England centre-half Gary Cahill and West Ham midfielder Scott Parker.

“There is a huge potential in the team, but in the decisive moments of the season we were not efficient enough,” Wenger said.

“The way we lost some games is something we have to correct for next season.”

On whether players would want to join Arsenal rather than one of their big-spending rivals, Wenger added: “If you speak only about money, we are certainly less attractive than some other teams.

“However, if you speak about the quality of the club and the style of play, we have many offers on the table for players who are desperate to join us.”

”jesus phv – if he buys a 17 year old prospect hes not doing it right and he gets criticized, but if someone else signs a french kid you ask why we arent in for him!!”

How do you know what I think ?
Personally, I prefer youth development over trophies although winning something would not be bad.I do not criticize him when he buys youngsters. If they look shit, I will criticize him but not because they are young.

  4. Pat

Personally, I think he’s a productive player with an immense work rate and if we were to sell Arshavin, he’d be a great replacement.

  5. BillikenGooner

He’d definately give his all every shift he was put out there for.
Make some of the slackers look bad… and tell them to their face, too.

  6. Wenger the liar

    Suga –

    Good to see you back.

Have you submitted your site to newsnow yet? If not do so.

I asked the question earlier if Ivan Gazidis even does enough at the club to cover his £1.7m (lol) a year salary. I have worked it out now and the answer is YES. The 6.5% rise covers Ivans salary 3 times over, so next years increase pays for Ivan wages the last three years, and there was me thinking that £1.7m (lol) was a waste of money.

What are you on? Youth development over trophies? Why bother get into a sport that wards champions then?

  8. SUGA3

little wonder I have survived that blitz in Poland!

I am trying to do that NN voodoo, but I may be doing something wrong?

LOL @ Gazidis value for money!

and the entire Team America on out books is uber-gash and costs us too much…

‘Gazidis’ Gazillions’, how does that sound?

  9. WTL Gazidis £1.7m Per Annum - Cause Hes Worth It!

    Suga –

Mate get the full facts about the team he has assembled and guesstimate the cost of each one x them by how many years they have been here/will be here til we can actually renegotiate sponsorship deals and figure out THAT TOTAL COST.

I am sure that will make a great post for your blog.

I am pos that selling tiles outside the fucking club shop, genius though it is (ahem) doesnt cover the cost of these mugs getting out of bed.

The gravy train mate, everyones getting paid while we get mugged off with project youth.

  10. Mr B

We pay the squad players what the spuds pay their first teamers.

Heard RVP was gonna get an improved contract worth 90k a week…. more like 120k as he’s been getting paid that for two seasons.

    More likely 90k after tax

  11. Gooby

every youth coach is a peado too, it’s common knowledge. School teachers, the fella who sells ice cream at the park, the one who sells toys and occasionally santa clause…

  12. Am

Damm I have just renewed season ticket. I have been foooled again like the past five summers. Lets try one more seaon of Almunia, Denilson and Eboue. Y not. Gooner for life.

  13. John

Song is brilliant and will be staying at Arsenal. The main problems is with high wages paid to underated players such as Denilson, Diaby and Bendtner (because he does like to remind us of how much he earns).

The only time we will know what is going to happen is actually in the summer.

  14. Hussain

    Gooner for life

  15. Lurch LeRouge

couple of mature signings and a couple of juniors with 1-2 going the other way, no severe changes though.

wouldnt be surprised to keep Cesc and lose nasri & clichy

  16. SUGA3

I don’t want any more kids and anything less than 5 in 5 out will be pathetic and nowhere near enough, IMO…

    heads gotta fucking ROLL!

and that is on the provision of keeping these three you mentioned…

  17. Lurch LeRouge

i can see a clear out but mostly internal replacements. the suggested change of formation will be the carrot that keeps some forwards from jumping, imo.

clichy and nasri would be like for like replacements but cesc will be replaced internally only i recon.

  18. Lurch LeRouge

3 in for me DM Striker CB, in that order of preference but its pointless talking signings without a considered change in our defensive approach.

  19. Lurch LeRouge

i think having rambo back from the outset will do the rust a world of good, a new LB with a pin point cross to use of width wouldn’t go astray either.

  20. Lurch LeRouge

what you did miss whilst in Poland was an unshackled Rice.

A poster on here made an interesting point regarding the half time substitutions of squillaci against stoke and shava against villa. they reeked of PR asserting his opinion finally, perhaps in conjunction with his negotiations to stay on another year.

we didn’t see it on the tv but apparently he was a load more animated on the touchline versus villa and seemed to assume a new mantle of power.

  21. SUGA3

may the force be with him, this team needs a drill sergeant, but a cultured one at that…

PR probably had enough of that ‘yes man’ shit, but it has to be said, it will take more than two games when we are already in the shit season and game wise to shake that off!

  22. OPG

“I am a winner and I came here to win trophies but I’ve been here for five years and won nothing.

“A footballer’s career is over very quickly so it is time for me to move on.

“This is not a sudden decision. I made up my mind eight months ago.

“I was fed up of coming home and feeling down.

“But I haven’t said anything until now because I did not want to disrupt the team during the season. And I haven’t caused a big scene.

“I’ve simply been to see Arsene Wenger and told him how I felt and he’s agreed to let me go.

“I know some people will think I am crazy. They are right. It is a great club with a great organisation, a great manager and so many talented players.

  23. Lurch LeRouge

lol loving the wobblehead meltdown. it can’t be all bull suga, too many quotes, the sun would get their ass sued big time for a fabrication like that.

  24. Jimmy Gunner

With transfer talk dminating, spare a thought for Denilson. He hit it exactly on what’s wrong with Arsenal/Arsene when he said winning is better than pretty soccer.
The present decline of Arsenal is at Wenger’s doorstep. His insistence on pretty/attacking/ marathon/eternal soccer is to be blamed. Why not play ugly or counter strike like the red faced instaed of all out attack.

  25. SUGA3

I know Lurch, this is such laugh it’s unbelievable!

then again, it may still be the case that another manager will play him in AM and he will be scoring a goal per game or something!

you know, the long range ones and freekicks, while we will continue watching Robin practising for that 6 Nations nonsense 😆

  26. Lurch LeRouge

lol is that separation anxiety talking!? don’t let DDM see you talking like that 😉

good riddance, finally theres room for Alonso in our squad! 🙂

see shitty are after ron for £150m

Vela is a total mystery to me. Can you remember how brilliant he was in Carling Cup games a few years ago. His shooting was flawless, he seemed to have great attitude, his movement was good…and then…nothing. And

My take on it is that there is obviously something very wrong with our first team training.

Our players with promise tend to go to shyte for some reason.

Even the regulars find it difficult to sustain the high level of success required to do the job on a regular basis i.e Nasri, Vermaelen, Arshavin, and even Cesc.

I know you wont agree, but I strongly feel it has to do with the manager.

Vela for me is miles ahead of Cheat-arito and my favorite player from the Youth team ahead of Ramsey, Wilshire, JET.

If you look at these young players performances under Steve Bould, they have been absolutely astonishing.

I would even argue that Wilshere was a far more threatening player under Bould.

Where is all the excitement gone from the Youth team that destroyed liverpool and spurs!?

Where are players like Coquelin gone!? Who surely had the most promise ahead of Eastmond and the rest?

  28. David

Most concerning is the fact that no one seems too keen to play him – not Wenger and not the 2 different bosses he’s had at West Brom. That to me says there are attitude problems and that he’s not great in training.

All very valid points you’ve made there.

It is very worrying but as I said with young players you have to help them and give them someone to aspire and look up to.

You have to have a senior player that they can learn from.

Welbeck had Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Maybe even Nisteroy.

Daniel Sturridge has learnt from the likes of you know who.

Could it be that in addition to the way the first team training is absolutely cack that

Vela has suffered immensely from the sale of Eduardo!?

  29. incesc

    room for parker then

shit now we need a bid for him tho

still, lets hope its the start of the news start

  30. Lurch LeRouge

i put it down mostly to lack of work ethic for vela, hes always looked a little chubby, it also hasn’t helped with all his national team call ups, all though that seems less significant this year.

  31. SUGA3

yep, my antypathy towards him is definitely of ‘romantic’ proportions, eh?

I am off, may the DooM™ be with you 😉

  32. David

    Albo says:

And therein lies the problem with buying kids in their teens. The one thing you can’t be sure of is whether they will have the attitude and the application to turn their potential talent into actual, world class ability.

I’d argue that in most cases you don’t really know for sure until they are between 20-23…

Youre strongest contribution and statement to the site yet ALbo.

What an astonishing statement that is. Youve basically admitted that Project Youth is a joke.

But let me say this. We’ve all seen Vela work hard with exceptional passing, moving, dribbling and finishing ability.

The talent isnt in question here its the attitude so okay.

Here are some issues with that..

    1. Is there a correlation between young players attitude and fat wages!?

    2. Is it specifically Carlos Vela that has an attitude problem or is this a common theme we are seeing with most Arsenal players bar a very few, i.e Jack, Sagna

    3. When someone sits on the bench for a half of a full season is he supposed to start off and be World Class?

  33. David

Ive just read the article that said Denilson is off from Arsenal because he’s a winner and he’s going to go because of Trophies.

    Oh. Le-Grove.

Dont miss out on that one for Joke Friday please

  34. Black Hand Ninja

Just seen the Denilson article. I chuckled heartily as I ate my cereal LOL.

That is pretty funny, seeing as he’s consistently been one of our worst performers. Shame, he showed such promise in his first few games, then regressed horribly.

  35. zeus

You can always depend on Denilson to give you a laugh. Good riddance son.

‘”I can’t see myself returning in a Chelsea shirt, or Liverpool or Manchester City – and definitely not Tottenham.’

Hahahahaha. Why on earth would ANY of these teams want him. I don’t he would even ply his trade in Europe, might as well go back to Brazil.

  36. tiarnan

    Wenger –

“I believe that Cesc Fabregas played 22 games this season out of 38,” added Wenger.

“We expect him next season to play between 30 and 38 and that will make a huge difference to our efficiency as well.”

efficieny….ahhh u gotta love Wenger – id love to follow him round with a snare and a hi-hat – and every time he comes out with a blinder…

    Ba – dum -ttttsssssss!!

  37. tiarnan

But in fairness – he was one of the poster boys for project youth – so the fact hes telling wenger hes a wrinkly ol cunt is great…

    who ya talkin to?

    the people on the …

everyones asleep, youre wasting your breath…

    oh, ok ….nite.

  38. sixx pac

Looooooooool Denilson says he can’t see himself returning in Chelsea, City, Liverpool or Spurs. Looooooooooool

  39. gnarleygeorge9

If Arsene didn’t spend 90% of the Summer trying to convince Cesc to say, he’d have more time to actually sign some quality players 😉

  40. bnsb

    Morning gg9,

On the contrary if the thinkers worked hard for 90% of the time they spend here, may be they could pay for that 6.5% increase and save some 🙂

  41. gooner-pak

just saw den-ill-son news on the sun
one question how the fuck is that denilson leaving rocks arsenal

  42. Wellington

who the fuck does he think he is

he is the most hated arsenal player i have known

been a disgrace for last 3 years and some good news finally

  43. mjgooner

    Food for thought
AFter WE let Vieira go, he has an FA cup wit shitty
After WE let Henry go, he won d treble wit barca
After WE let Ade go, he has an FA cup wit Real
After WE let Flamini go, he has a scudetto wit Milan
After WE let Lassana go, he has an FA cup wit Real
Not sure but I think Hleb won a trophy wit Barca too

B4 you bring up Pennant, Aladieire, Senderos etc, ask yourself which of these two groups could we have done with in the last 5 years.

PS you could add Cashley to the first group.

  44. nucks

Do me a favour!! at last a sign that some of the dross is on it’s way out! He looks at wilshere and rambo in training and realises that he should be playing for the likes of Brum, Wigan, Bolton or Spurs etc.. Oooohhh I feel so upset that he’s off, we are doomed……

  45. nucks

‘I’ve been here for five years and won nothing’ is a missprint I think it should read ‘Ive been here five years and done nothing’!!!!!!!!

  46. angeausarsenal

“I’ve been here for 5 years and because of me we’ve won nothing”
Close the door on your way out there’s a good boy and send Almunia, Diaby, Squillaci,Ebouie and Bendtner in please.

  47. Sabeel

    Good Riddance..Denilson out..

Now if Diaby will be so kind and Get lost from the club…

Best News of the Season,is that Denilson will GET LOST

The news is EVEN BETTER than our victory over Barcelona…

    Get lost DENILSON…Gutless/passionless/lazy asshole

  48. gooner-pak

‘I’ve been here for five years and won nothing’

sadly denilson, there is no award for slowest player of the year

  49. Evan

YES, this has made my day 1 down Bendtner, Eboue, Almunia, Diaby, Chamahk, Gibbs to go

  50. tiny

wrong way round denilson goes, song stays. Song has had some great games for arsenal and was our most improved player last season. Really hope he stays cause he has alot to learn and will get better.

  51. Moray

fuck me, Denilson really said that? haha. It goes to show what the attitude is like in the dressing room. This bunch must think they’re shit hot.

He should have said “I’ve been here 5 years and nobody has won me a trophy”.

Christ, Wenger, take note. This is what your project has created. a bunch of losers with ridiculous ideas of their own worth and ability. Try to put their cuntishness to the side for a minute and watch the effort the vastly superior Barca players put in tracking back and winning the ball, then compare it to our bunch of fools backing off and not daring to shoot or tackle.

They must really think the only thing stopping them from winning trophies is bad decisions, watery pitches and “unfair” defensive teams…haha!

  52. Moray

now I’ve had a few minutes to think about what Denilson said, I’m furious at the little prick. It’s just the joy of hearing he’s leaving that is keeping me even

  53. timberstar

“…and at least we have Denilson ready to take over from him next season! ”

  54. goonerjon1979

Well, Denilson is leaving so he won’t cover Song…

I would like to see Song stay, I think he has improved a lot and was probably one of our best players this season… Eboue is the only player alongside Van Perside who hows true heart and willingness to win… Ok, granted, Eboue isn’t the best footballer technically, but neither is Walcott and I think Eboue offers a lot more down the right wing than Walcott does… Wenger screwed up big time this season, we have too many players who like to play through the centre, eg: Nasri, arshavin, Walcott, Fabregas, Rosicky… We need some out and out wingers again, get back the likes of Ray Parlour and Marc Overmars… We will always be in trouble if we keep playing the same way, it is time for a change.
