Arsenal to sign Cahill? In your dreams, guess who it will kill?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

That’s right, Johan Djourou and Koscielny, that’s what Wenger said, he doesn’t want to harm their progress. Yes I agree those two do look good and that partnership could indeed flourish and when Vermaelen comes back we really are spoilt for choice, but people, we never have a set of fit centrebacks, Vermaelen may be out all season, Squillaci isn’t good enough and Song is not a centre back.

He should buy Samba, Ramos or Zapata, will we always need quality at the back, always. And that lot are available now. Ramos would ensure Cesc stays and it will send out a message to Barca.

Onto the Wigan game, I expect we’ll have our first choice team to choose from and I hope we keep up the urgency we play with following a ‘couldn’t give a rats arse’ performance like Ipswich away or Leeds at home.

With Nasri on fire, Cesc back to his most influential best and Robin finding that edge that made him the deadliest striker in the Premiership, we are looking good.

Wilshere and Song look as solid as you could hope for in the middle and Sagna has found his first season form again, so we are looking good all over the pitch, Djourou and Koscielny are forming a formidable partnership at the back, but for me the biggest surprise is Chezzer between the sticks.

He not only looks the real deal, he gives the defence immense confidence and we play at the back with a swagger I haven’t seen since Mad Jens. Arsene, you must keep him in goal, he’s miles better that Almunia and Fabianski, the players are more comfortable and the fans love him, since he’s been in goal not one person on Le Grove has called for a keeper, and that my friends says it all.

Work on your distribution Chezzer and you’ll be our keeper for the next 15 years.

Arsene, I don’t care what Fabianski does in training, he isn’t as good as Chezzer on match days, so don’t play him. Also it’s obvious that Almunia isn’t our keeper anymore so sell him, he doesn’t deserve this treatment, he’s a nice bloke, move him on.

Now that brings me nicely onto Denilson, stop denying he didn’t mean it, he did, he said it and he dissed our top two keepers, nothing was lost in translation, he’s arrogant and average, he doesn’t track back and the fans don’t want him, move him on, have you learned nothing from Gallas and Adebayor?

Keeping a player in the team no one likes is madness, you spent years telling us that there was no problem with Gallas, you lied, we found out Kolo was sold because of him and also, Nasri wouldn’t shake his hand when we played the spuds, that was pretty obvious, but you decided we were all too stupid to be told.

Well we all now know there is a rift with Denilson, we all saw the interview, we’ve all seen the denials, but we also have insiders that tell us the players don’t like him, ship him out and save the dressing room spirit, he didn’t work out, don’t be churlish, you can’t always be right.

We have a nice easy run coming up Grovers, so maximum points is a must, starting tomorrow.

Have a great day Grovers, tomorrow we begin our quest for the title!

P.S. It’s joke Friday and I’ll let Ricky Gervais kick things off… what a star, he made me proud to be British!

Personally I think Tiote would be a good buy if he could sort out his poor discipline reccord, but Wenger want buy a 24 year old as it would hamper songs progress. someone early thirties would fit wengers bill, Just until the younger players come through to challenge Song.

  2. A

Telarse Parker is a decent – good box to box midfielder, nothing less nothing more.

Song is ten times the DM he is!

He’s more nippy than Song, and more aggressive. That’s about all he has over him though

  3. incesc

wilshere will be 10 times the player parker is, thats for sure, so pleased wenger is schooling him in a more defensive role. Its going to pay out big time

  4. A

Not sure how Tiote would hamper Song’s progress Zak – there’s no way he’d get in the team ahead of Song, though he’d be a decent back up I guess.

Rather someone better though, even as back up.

I’d like us to snap up a Matuidi or Sissoko, someone like that, but doubt it’d happen. Not sure just how far the likes of Coquelin and Frimpong will be behind them by the summer

  5. A

incesc I wonder if Wilshere will stay in his defensive role, or move into a more offensive position as he develops….

Take Cesc’s role as the most offensive of the midfield three….

Lansbury or Ramsey in the current Wilshere role

  6. incesc

i think wenger knows wilshere will take fabregas’s role eventually but by making him learn a more defensive role for a year he is teaching about every aspect of the game and making him much better for it.

3 years down the line with all this experience

    song
    wilshere ramsey

    nasri walcott
    rvp

    looks pretty nice.

    if cesc stays, wow!

  7. A

You’d guess so Lurch but maybe Nasri would dill that role? Hazard/Wellington Silva on the left?!

Gonna have alot of options (although obviously Hazard is a maybe)

Speaking of Wellington Silva I wonder if he’ll feature for Levante tomorrow, hope so!

  8. A

I dunno incesc, 3 years is aaaages.

Frimpong/Coquelin could’ve gazzumped Song, Wellington Silva, Aneke, Afobe, JET could’ve come through….

  9. Telarse

A, That’s exactly what I dislike about Song – that’s why I refer to him as a lumbering oaf.
I want nippy! I want aggressive!

I want players who can show what Keown is showing in my Avatar!

I know Gallas was a cunt – but fuck he cared!
His display at Birmingham in the “Eduardo” match was unprofessional but I loved him for it!
He was one of our best players and he was a leader.

There’s team spirit and there’s the Waltons! I hope we’re not becoming too nice and the DM position is where I look for aggression/passion/fight.

  10. A

That isn’t what we need in the Song role though Telarse, it couldn’t work in the Song role.

You can’t have a DM whose flying all over the pitch, he has to be calm, composed and sit, as Gilberto did.

A Gilberto in his prime would be perfect in the current system

Skysports understands Arsenal are weighing up a shock move to sign Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate.

    WHAT THE FUCK

  12. Telarse

A, Personally I’d tether him to a post that restricted his movement to an area the width of our 18 yard box stretchin from our 18 to the half-way line!

(tethering to a post might be a health and safety issue so a sniper would suffice)

    Gunners consider Woodgate raid
Arsenal mulling over move for returning Spurs stopper

Skysports.com understands Arsenal are weighing up a shock move to sign Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate.

The Spurs man came through a practice game in midweek against QPR having not played since November 2009 due to a career-threatening groin problem.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his backline in this month’s transfer window due to injuries to regular stoppers Thomas Vermaelen and Sebastien Squillaci.

And it is understood the Frenchman wants to raid Arsenal’s north London rivals for Woodgate to plug the gap in his side’s central defence.

Former England stopper Woodgate arrived at White Hart Lane from Middlesbrough in 2008, but has seen his Spurs career hampered by injury.

Previously, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has indicated he would allow Woodgate to leave on loan to interested clubs QPR or Leeds, provided he can achieve basic fitness.

  14. gambon

Woodgate is the most talented CB in this country since McGrath but the idea of us signing him is the most ridiculous, cheap, Wenger like thing I could imagine.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has ruled out making an approach for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with the former Olympique Lyonnais man over recent weeks, with the rumour mill currently on overdrive at the Emirates Stadium.

Porto’s Brazilian frontman Hulk is another to have reportedly drawn admiring glances from North London, with Wenger believed to be monitoring attacking targets.

He has ruled himself out of the running on both counts, though, insisting he has no intention of bidding for either player.

Wenger said: “Benzema? He’s a good player but he’s not available.

“Incredible Hulk? No. Not going to happen. I couldn’t say we’re close to doing anything with anyone.”

The Gunners’ squad is already brimming with forward-thinking talent, suggesting Wenger has no need to bring in further additions.

  17. A

depends how good they are incesc….

if we win things over the next few years starting this season and have a really good core of players, the defence and likes of nasri, vp, wilshere, theo, who are amongst the best players in the world and been there for years etc…..

  18. incesc

they have talent but we’ve had the best youngsters for ages A

Arsenal need to get a core group grow into football maturity now.

no more kids, lets take what we have through till there 27-28 and see what happens.

maybe give wellington some carling cup games in 2014 if he looks good enough

    πŸ™‚

  19. A

If there’s a solid core of players then you can afford to bring through kids with them incesc, you need that bit of raw explosiveness that kids give you, fearlessness etc. It’s when there aren’t the older heads and stability, along with the success that there’s too much pressure on kids and it’s costly

  20. A

I don’t get it G Star, why take an article about Spurs and Redknapp, and change it to Wenger and Arsenal for the sake of posting it on an Arsenal blog to trick Arsenal fans?

  21. A

Not me incesc – playing myself so gonna miss it, very annoying….

If we lose then I won’t be missing another home game this season though. Thus far this season City is the only home game I’ve been to that we havn’t won….

  22. A

That’s what I thought before West Brom and Newcastle incesc….

Although we didn’t have quite the firepower then that we do at the moment

  23. incesc

    haha

    lightning struck twice

no way it can happen 3 times.

    touch wood

we also have a cb pairing that have got to know each other and a proper keepr who can keep a clean sheet.

    and the mighty Sagna

  24. incesc

I would say loan bendtner to Sunderland and see what he can do…

but we know rvp is due an injury now hes starting to look good again

  25. Lurch LeRouge

if we loan, then send him to the hammers so they stay up – I’d hate the scum to get that stadium which they might if WH get relegated.

  26. Lurch LeRouge

hopefully Robin’s of an age now where his body is toughening up, he’s learnt his lesson, loads less rash, last ditch tackles of late.

  27. incesc

good call bendtner to the hammers!

he can stay at home, loads of pressure and score the goals to take em to stratford like you say!

    πŸ™‚

  28. Lurch LeRouge

it’d be shitsandwich without the hammers in the league – 2 less derby’s a year.

although i just can’t see us loaning him out with Robin & theo’s injury track record.

  29. incesc

Wenger also has no doubt that in-form midfielder Nasri will stay at Arsenal even though he has yet to sign a new contract.Arsene Wenger last night claimed Samir Nasri has got the same magic hips as Zinedine Zidane.
Nasri, 23, has been dubbed the new Zidane in France because they both have Algerian heritage but Wenger also sees big similarities in their styles.
Arsenal boss Wenger said: “The flexibility of his hips is similar to Zidane, but Zidane was a different player. Zidane was more a guy who creates openings through his skill, Nasri is more direct.

“He is a player who has a little bit a guy who likes to run with the ball. Cesc Fabregas is a passer of the ball, Nasri is a guy who is more half winger, a wing midfielder. He has his own style but he is quick and tricky and very flexible.
“I believe Nasri has improved his numbers. It is not only an impression, it is an impression confirmed by the facts.
“That means the goals he has scored and the number of influences he has had on games has become much stronger.
“We can all speak and speak and speak and have our own opinion but at the end of the day the numbers are real. Nasri has 14 goals, last year he got three, so there is a massive improvement there.”
Wenger says he first saw similarities between Nasri and Wayne Rooney when he first watched the French international break into the Marseille first team at 17.
Wenger, who signed Nasri from Marseille in 2008, said: “A player who starts at 17 years old who starts in the first-team and has an impact like Rooney had it was a bit similar. Not style wise.
“Sometimes for these players it is not easy because in Marseille and the south of France they worship the players. What I like about him is that he has kept his feet on the ground. He is very humble.”
Nasri only has 18 months left on his contract and Wenger has insisted they will not announce a new deal until the summer but is convinced he will stay after having discussions.
Wenger added: “I am a good poker player. I am confident because I believe that he knows he is doing well here, he is in a big club. Why should he want to leave?
“And I told you already that the recent numbers as well have shown that the players who stay at the club where they are successful and have a bigger career than the players who move every two years.
“I’ve tried to tell him that. Not only that but that as well. He knows that.”
Nasri has been Arsenal’s best player this season, stealing the limelight from captain Fabregas and he will face Wigan today on the back of another man of the match display at Leeds in the FA Cup.
Wenger’s men are hoping to turn up the heat at the top of the table and Arsenal are now hoping their defensive injury problems are nearing an end.
Sebastien Squillaci is just over a week away from returning after a hamstring problem, Thomas Vermaelen is to return within six weeks and Johan Djourou and Laurent Koscielny have impressed during their absence.
Wenger is still under pressure to buy and hinted yesterday that he has made enquiries about Bolton’s Gary Cahill, although the sky-high price means that is unlikely in January and Blackburn stopper Christopher Samba is a cheaper option.
Wenger added: “I think Gary Cahill is a very good player, but I cannot tell you more. We like to keep our transfer negotiations always very secret, because it puts more pressure on when you go public.
“I didn’t ask about his price. I don’t know how much he costs. If you look at the transfer prices in England, the inflation is still there. They have added the VAT to all the prices. They are very expensive – look at Darren Bent!”‘s

  30. incesc

yeah we dont need more northern teams when we could be going down the road and hammering west ham.

    wheres kwik fit?

  31. incesc

    Hey Lurch

Qos said she got death threats once from posting on here the other day.

makes me wonder how you are still alive!

  32. Lurch LeRouge

wow I missed that…. and she’s the most considerate person on here – next to A.

its a worry… thing is she’s got a profile beyond LG, its not hard to pull her true identity out from them.

I don’t use LLR for anything else so should be safe enough and when among folks at the pub who talk about LG i keep it quiet. There was a case of a lad wanting to meet up before a lions game at wembley a few weeks after i made some particularly tasteless jokes and I considered it safer to give him a wide berth in case it was a setup, probably nothing to it but my senses were awake.

if one day i go silent you know the taliban eventually got me!

  33. Lurch LeRouge

threats aren’t my style… its all fun and games – until its not!

then its a rumble in the rocket!

    with weapons.

    did i say I’m 6’4″, 95KG and black? πŸ˜‰

  34. incesc

    crazy init!

im sure pedro and geoff have to keep their identity on the down low, bet they get some grief too!

one day we should have a massive royal rumble down the rocket!

  35. incesc

by the way, i know karate and im a triad!

get a few more together and we could be like the crew in the new predator film!

  36. Lurch LeRouge

what did the threat amount to? someone tracked her down? or coincidentally met her and started abusing?

presumably the abuse was based on AKB angst? or something more personal?

  37. Pedro

When people drop the line. ‘you must play Championship manager’ they immediately admit they play computer games and have no personality.

    That always makes me laugh.

    How is everyone?

  38. Lurch LeRouge

kwik fit would just hug everyone to death! or breathe on them πŸ™‚

haven’t seen the predator thing, what about the guys from tropic thunder?

    ill go full retard!

  39. Pedro

Incesc, 3-0 win tomorrow… what do you reckon?

Lurch… death threats mean nothing online. I keep my profile low for the sneak attacks on the train…

  40. A

Who plays Championship Manager these days?! It’s all about Football Manager….

I’m actually pretty nervous about tomorrow, not sure why – with VP linking everything and Nasri, Cesc and Theo playing around him we should have way too much for Wigan.

  41. Pedro

A, I’d only be nervous if we were resting more than four players.

    We’ll win 2-0 tomorrow.

Championship manager was amazing… football manager is far too complicated.

  42. incesc

its all about fifa online A, for the less discerning gamer.

everyone plays as Barce so you can pretend its the champions league games!

  43. A

Football manager is just the continuation of Championship Manager Pedro, Championship Manager for the last 3-4 years has been that game in name only…. Computer game politics….

I’m more of a PES man incesc, although I’ve only played the last couple of versions a handful of times despite buying them. Fifa online does seem to get alot of hype though, sure I’d hate being crap at it though

  44. Man

    Rocket it is then…remember I’m 6’6 100kg and blacker

I’ll be happy with a 2-1 win, any win for that matter just and I don’t care who starts either.

Have a good night all and a good weekend too, rocket or not

  45. incesc

“Football manager is just the continuation of Championship Manager Pedro, Championship Manager for the last 3-4 years has been that game in name only…. Computer game politics….”

    haha

    typical A answer

    πŸ™‚

PES was always better back in the day but these days Fifa is so much more fun and easier to pick up for a laugh online.

  46. Lurch LeRouge

Clean sheet Defo tomorrow. Nothing to worry about. 2 nil by 20 min, the rest is anybodys guess.

Ah they were online threats, used to those. Except I ask for it.

  47. Pedro

Did anyone see Shameless the other night?

They did Scouse versus Black in the eighties… absolute genius writing. That show is one of the most intelligent on the box, fantastic on so many levels.

  48. incesc

used to love shameless, havent seen the new series but the one before was a bit lame

much rather watch my big fat gypsy wedding.

    proper TV!

  49. Pedro

Incesc, one of my mates is being written into that as the gay love interest… he’s not even from Essex and I have my doubts whether he’s gay!

  50. incesc

    A

    wow!

    Pedro

    double wow!!!

does he have to kiss that horrible blond gay boy?

its not a scandal thats its fake though, haha

  51. Rohan

I’m surprised Theo Walcott hasn’t gotten in onto the Twitter act. He’s tailormade for it if I’m to be honest.

  52. Rohan

    naah, Theo’s pretty intelligent.

Jack’s isn’t the best for me. Spends too much time sucking up to Piers Morgan.

  53. incesc

I know hes a Manc but i like rio’s tweets.

down to earth peckham boy, went to school round the corner from me.

If I could have had a player the last 10 years it would probably be him.

  54. Rohan

Never seen anything of that sort LLR. Atleast on twitter. He seems like a nice guy.

Cesc is always tweeting with Puyol and Pique so I tend to avoid that. The best has to Sczceny. He’s a legend.

  55. incesc

RVP is a big piss taker

    him to vermaelan

    Persie_Official Robin van Persie
By the way we want you back as well!! I miss giving you those lovely panna’s on training hahaha

  56. Lurch LeRouge

I thought RVP converted to Islam?

Anyhow I’m not suggesting he’s anything but a nice guy, just nice guys don’t necessarily make for interesting soundbites….

  57. incesc

    chesney is definately a legend!

    already

he has that something on and off the pitch, you just get the feeling he will always stand up and be counted for.

    hope he keeps the no1

  58. Lurch LeRouge

Walked into that didn’t I. Hope Moh4 is sleeping!

I thought it was clear I dispised all religion?

    Bit late for theist debate.

  59. incesc

Ryan Babel is supposed to be funny in a stupid kind of way according to a scouse mate.

cesc seems to love vela, calls him carlitos.

fuck me twitter has turned me into a stalker!

  60. Mark

incesc, the Ramos suggestion is seriously seriously low dude. Ramos will not leave RM.

Anyway, Cesc is very very happy at Arsenal…so many noobs commenting here

  61. incesc

    Factomundo!

    and chesney in goal.

i have such a good feeling about this year.

    we arent depending on kids.

we are depending on rvp and cesc who have played in a world cup final and are well rested, and theo is better than he has ever been, on the bench is arshavin who is on his day top 10 in the world and then nasri.

    samir nasri.

    what could go wrong!

  62. Rohan

Injuries. All it takes is a knock to RvP and a Shawcross style tackle on Nasri and it’s all downhill from there. πŸ˜€

    Dooming is fun

  63. OPG

Still laughing at the Woodgate link, hilarious unless it actually comes true. NO worries about tommorow’s game apart from injuries, I don’t think Wigan have anyone threatening like Carroll. Overall the rest of the fixtures and the other leagues looks uninteresting.
