I’d rather be a gooner than a cock-err-ill, sign him up Arsene.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

That’s what Serdar Tasci the young German said, good enough for me, sign him, or Sackho, Zapata, Cahill or anyone that exceeds 6′ and has played at some stage of his career as a centre back. Tasci said he’d sooner play for Arsenal than the Spuds, top man. HAVE HIM!

Even better sign a keeper that can keep, we haven’t got one, except Chezzer or Mannone but they are a little young.

So someone needs to explain to me how Cesc can’t play for us as he’s not fit and too tired but he can go to the other side of the world and turn out for Spain, why doesn’t Wenger say no?

Still if they don’t play and Song, Denilson and Diaby are all injured, he’ll play Wilshere and Frimgpong, I’d be okay with that, but again, why are we starting another campaign with 3 defensive midfielders beginning the season as they finished the last one, injured? Will he never learn?

Let’s experiment with the team for Sunday, this is what I think he’ll do…

Fabianski

Sagna Koscielny Vermaelen Clichy

Frimpong

Wilshere Nasri

Arshavin Chamakh Rosicky

Me I’d try this…

Chezzer

Eboue Djourou Vermaelen Gibbs

Frimpong

Wilshere Nasri

Walcott Arshavin Chamakh

If we are going to go in with half a team then lets try it with half a team that can run at them. I know what you all think of Walcott, but he and Arshavin do like to play against them, and they have an ageing group that we can get behind.

I like the teams we played with at Highbury, the we’ll score more than you sides, it’s the only way we’ll win anything this season, I think we’ll win the Carling because we won’t have too many babies in the squad, at least with these confusing new rules I don’t think we will.

Serdar Tasci is the sort of player we could do with, aggressive and German, we aren’t likely to buy Cahill as they won’t accept Wenger’s £2 million valuation and sending an England player out on loan is as dumb as buying an unknown French defender for £10mil, oooops!

At least the chavs look crap and City have been struggling so we only have the spuds and mancs to worry about, getting back to the injury and fitness stuff, we must be the only club in the EPL that has 5 injured first teamers and two unfit ones, so that makes 7 first choice players out of 11 that won’t make the opening game, unbelievable, what will happen by the time we get to November?

Who are the 7? Bendtner, Song, Denilson, Diaby, Ramsey plus RVP and Cesc from the unfit camp. Yes I know you could argue that Bendtner and Ramsey are not quite first team, but you get my drift. Blimey, even Ledley King is fit!

There were a few Grovers on yesterday saying it’s not fair that the board won’t give Arsene the money to buy, GIVE IT UP, HE’S ALREADY SAID HE FINALLY HAS THE MONEY TO COMPETE WITH CHELSEA. It’s down to the manager and it’s so obvious we need some players even someone like me, that is the king of FIFA football manager can see it, well me and every ex player except Bob Wilson that is.

Have a great day Grovers, countdown begins.

Just watched two minutes of an american show call Man vs Food… it was like listening to football commentary…

‘Did you see that guy throw that three and quarter inch dog down on that grill… that was iiiiimense grilling!’

  2. Stu

Sixx pac, for now its just hypothetical. Obviously he’s not quarenteed to start but as of now he is the most likely, unless Song suddenly becomes match fit despite no match practice at all.

  3. Big Dave

0943: Barcelona are set to sign German World Cup midfield star Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen on a four-year deal worth around £8.3m. The 21-year-old was a reported target for Chelsea and Manchester United. (Agence France-Presse)

  4. gambon

See what spending money can get ya…

Chelsea spend £20m on Carvalho at age 26, get 6 years from him, then recoup £6m selling him.

    £14m well spent.

Take note and stop being a pussy Wenger.

  5. Stu

Yeah Carvalho was an almight cheat. He always got away with fouls inside the box and handling the ball too. The fucker never gave away a penalty.

  6. TOM TOM

Looks like City are the only spenders now, clubs are worried that wages are much to high and with the high income tax rate in britain no players want to sign. Martin O Neil left because he was told to reduce the wage bill and that he cant spend the Milner money on new players. Villa spent 85 percent of last years income on wages, crazy

  7. BillikenGooner

I fully believe that Wenger feels that his holding onto Cesc for 1 more season is ‘proof’ that we aren’t a selling team and that it shows our ambition, overshadowing our lack of more experienced signings (which he said a few months ago we were in need of).

  8. BillikenGooner

I’ll believe that when I’ve read that Lyon have set an ironclad value on him at 18.5mil and we won’t budge from our offer.

  9. choy

Barca offered a ridiculous sum though.

Let them offer 50 mill or so and we’ll have that talk about not being a selling club!

  10. Jimbo

Arsenal will get battered on Sunday.

Our own faults for not sacking the dopey Frog cunt when we had the chance.

  11. DaleDaGooner

Well, I reckon Everton play Jack Rodwell last season, and he played well, so roll on Sunday, Frimpong should do well.

  12. DaleDaGooner

Jimbo, and if we win? How is it “our” fault? what can you do to get him sacked? Please enlighten us? I am not for the man, as i hate how stubborn and stupid he can be, but lets not make a joke about our passion for the club. Some of you almost have me think, if you are really Arsenal fans. I moan along with ya, but i have breaks, and i pump it when making wishes for my beloved team. Just cause Wenger can be a fool sometimes does not mean i will rant about my team failing.

  13. Stu

Rodwell made his debut as an 80th minute sub in 07-08. He made a further 2 sub appearances that season. He has since become a semi regular starter at CM. He is 6ft 2 and playing for a far inferior club.

Once again the situations are not comparable. Frimpongs debut (if he starts against liverpool) will be against one of the biggest clubs in the country and with noone protecting him.

Everton dont have the money or stature that we have so can afford to develope players. We are a CL regular club, top seeds in fact and one of the top 5 richest clubs in the world. We should be only playing top class proven players, not having to use an 18year old. FACT 🙂

  14. Honest Bill

I’d love to see Frimpong kick the shit out of Gerrard. I’d take going down to 10 men just to see that happen

  15. Jimbo

I’d love to win 5-4, with 4 Fabicuntski howlers, including getting his gormless pothead face kicked in by Vermaelen, and finishing the game with Chamakh in goal.

  16. Jimbo

Boo Wenger, after every single shit goal we concede (and there will be lots).

That’s what I’m looking forward to this year, watching the smug cunt finally get what’s coming to him. It will be the only silver-lining, this season, I fear.

  17. DaleDaGooner

lol…Stu, you are so funny. Real Madrid are top class, yet they started an 18 year old in goal some years ago, same with Raul as a teenager. Farca?? Young Pedro, Bojan and co, Man U?? C’mon! It doesn’t matter if Rodwell got his start off the bench, fact is he got a chance to play! You are talking as if Frimpong will
    a. Start against Liverpool
    b. Play for 90 mins
    c. Nordtveit, at 20, Is not an option.

What option do we have? Lets get of our high horse. We don’t know if we really have money, so stop it! If you are pissed that Wenger and co are not buying Felipe Melo, Inler and co, i think you should be cautious. Lets not throw our toys out just yet. Lets see if we have another option in Song, or maybe JD will start there, or Nordtveit and if it is Frimpong, fuck it, I’ll support the young lad to do well, not write him off as a failure without playing Liverpool yet. It’s a 90 min game, if it works for him, it does, if he fails, he fails. We had players who were old enough and played for a top club, who did fuck all for us to win anything…Gallas? anyone? Silvestre anyone??

  18. gambon

    Dale

We want to sell him. He isnt good enough so its best he moves on.

Theres too much sentiment when it comes to young players.

Eastmond, Hoyte, Sunu, Watt & Randall are the next ones that people are gonna have to accept arent up to the standard.

  19. DaleDaGooner

gambon, you are right about sentiments, but the players we are clamouring on buying were youths elsewhere. But anyway

Yes, Eastmond, Hoyte, Sunu and Randall, I believe will move on at some time. I think Watts is good enough, he just doesn’t look strong enough. But I think he can be a hit or miss.

  20. alex

Barazite is a great talent, would have him ahead of theo. Like Merida I think he’ll become a top player, for some reason arsene & coaching staff have something against him.

  21. DaleDaGooner

Just wondering, With Maureen stock piling his own kind of players, what’s to happen to Gago, Diarra x 2, Garray, and some other players that may be excess to his type of play? Does anyone think Gago is good enough, i know Wenger won’t be shopping there, but just a thought.

  22. gambon

    alex

Na, hes just not good enough.

Neithers theo, but wengers too stubborn to admit that after paying £9m for him.

  23. DaleDaGooner

And Alex, i applaude you. I think Barazite, if given Theo’s chances, can be better, at least his more technical than road runner.

  24. DaleDaGooner

gambon, so do you rate Afobe????? It’s crazy how Wenger harps on about the youth project, yet we are flogging a lot of them off for 1s and 2s.

  25. Stu

Dale, those players didnt have to start a big match with a non existant defence. They came into the team surrounded by experienced players that would help them along. We are low on experience as it is, having to play an 18 yo debutee is a situation that a club of our size should be forced into.

Nordveit isnt an option because if he was then he would have been playing DM in pre season, not right back and centre back.

I’ll leave it there though because all im doing is repeating myself and apparently getting nowhere.

  26. DaleDaGooner

I doubt we will loose that game, a draw will be annoying, but i can’t see us loosing, not because of Wenger, but because Liverpool will be “short” too.

  27. Stu

Dale, im not sure Gago is cut out for the prem. Good reader of the game and such but is similar to denilson in terms of athleticism (from what i remember of when i’ve seen him play).

We ideally need a tall, athletic CM.

  28. DaleDaGooner

Yes Stu, leave it there, because we (including yourself) have no idea what is going to happen on Sunday, Frimpong or no Frimpong.

  29. Stu

Hopefully Woy doesnt have the livershit defence drilled like he did with the Fulham one because their defence was a hard nut to crack and he will probably have a higher standard of player to work with at liverpool…thats debatable though 😆

  30. Hat-trick Hero

    Hi guys

I’m not too worried about Frimpong starting on sunday, I’m worried that we don’t have a settled defensive unit. The keeper situation is a tragic comedy. How can we be a cohesive unit,if noone trusts the keepers? Who will be Verm’s CB partner?

  31. DaleDaGooner

So Stu, if you had to choose a DM to play on Sunday, who will it be and for how much are you willing to spend?

  32. DaleDaGooner

Hat-trick, it is settled, If Spahic is not brought in (and even if) as it stands, It’s Koscielny to partner Vermaelen. The only suprise we may get is Djourou to partner him. I still think Djourou\Koscielny will start behind Wishere and Nasri.

  33. gambon

“how much are you willing to spend?”

This is the whole problem with the club, fans incuded.

Quality is what matters, price isnt.

  34. DaleDaGooner

gambon, I’m sure Quality is all about money too. How much is your limit to spend on a quality signing, I mean, are you going to grab a quality player with sweet charm talk?

  35. alex

Barazites’s been unlucky, like Theo has dislocated his shoulder twice, technically 10 times better than him

    [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEnNZQOVHZ4&hl=en_GB&fs=1]

watch this screamer, seen him score all types of goals, chips, power, placement.

Frimpongs not ready, i’d rather have Eastmond start if Denilson and Song are not fit

  36. DaleDaGooner

Hat-trick, Well, when we signed Arsh, he talked, when we signed Verm he squeeled, Spahic squeeeled, I suspect he may be coming, baring Montpellier not expecting 25million…LOL

  37. gambon

Dale, I would like Melo, Inler or Toulalan. Preferably the latter.

I dont give a shit about the money, as long as one of them 3 is on the pitch.

  38. DaleDaGooner

I still can’t understand how we are giving up on Barazite but playing shit like Walcott, Denilson week in week out. Even Vela hasn’t impressed much. He seemed bigger and ready to play, but who knows what happens in that camp of ours.

  39. DaleDaGooner

Soooo, Gambon, you’d gladly pay 25million for Melo’s performance last season? I mean he didn’t even impress me with Brazil, Ramires is a better player, and the Chavs are smart to get him.

  40. DaleDaGooner

Inler, Inler…..something about him just tells me he won’t make it with us. Why do we harp on about names? Just cause a player did well for another team, and is pushed in the whole worlds face doesn’t mean they will be world class for us. I mean, we got Gallas, right, he was “world class” coming from Chelsea…..

  41. DaleDaGooner

When we talk of quality, i don’t believe they have to be names we know. But you are right, there is just sometimes you have to get the needed piece to win something, and i hate how Wenger avoids this. Arshavin was quality and we needed him, and it did us good. This is that time again, and we need an Arshavin type of signing at the back, BUT it doesn’t have to be Melo or Inler….I still think they are overrated. Maybe Toulalan.

  42. Hat-trick Hero

Toulalan would be good. I hear alot of good things about Steven Defour. I never seen him play much myself tho.

  43. gambon

    Dale

    You miss the point.

I couldnt care less if we spend £25 or £25m, provided the player is right.

Why do i care if our bank account goes down to £129.999m or £105m?

Arsene needs to stop being so cheap and go out there & sign the players we need.

  44. GoonerMan

I have to say Wenger has totally destroyed the fans expectations for this season…

He has bullshitted once again. I for one hopes he gets slaughtered, if we are struggling.

  45. JJ

We bought Arsharvin a half season too late and Chamakh a half season too late. Whoever we buy next is also likely to be a half season too late…

  46. gambon

I think Stephen Ireland would be worth looking at.

    Hes youngish, agressive & skillful.

Obviously a bit mental, but at £8m its a bargain. If it didnt work out we’d easily get £8m for him in 12 months.

  47. Stu

Dale, i dunno which Dm i would buy because there are so many out there who would improve us. Toulalan would be nice, big fan of his. I used to be a fan of Rolfes but dont watch the Bundesliga anymore so dont know. Khedira has impressed a lot lately and in a similar system to what we play, although maybe more organised than ours. Tymoschuk i used to rate, MVB too, Poulsen that liverpool are getting but havent seen him play in a while.

Sixx pac, sorry, i meant the season before. He does get his tactics and such usually right though, which is essentially what my point was.

  48. Stu

How the fuck did i forget to mention Flamini. Would love having him next to Song in midfield and to rotate with him depending on the oppo. Never gonna happen though but i can still hope.

  49. Stu

Gambon, talented player but an almighty bitch. Lets his gf make his decisions for him.

On the plus side i dont think we have any players that would make fun of his bald spot.

  50. incesc

most arsenal fans are too touchy to take flamini back.

    they’re all like:

“flamini fucked us over i hate him”
“cesc flirted with barce take the captaincy away”
“hleb likes ice cream the motherfucker”
“adebayor said milan is like beyonce”
“Ian Wright is honest and says we arent good enough, cunt”

    Oh and the keyser special

“how can you like players from the George Graham era when they used to get drunk and gamble”

    🙂

  51. Stu

Yeah its madness isnt it incesc. I actually agree with most of that but i still would have Flamini back. He was very good against us in the EC. Great energy and drive in midfield, exactly what we need imo.

  52. moray

I see Carvalho has left chelski. They will probably have to replace him.

Let’s see now if any super super class central defenders are available on the market for teams prepared to offer a decent transfer fee and salary.

  53. cesc rule

morning guys…this frimpong has created a lot of issues..wtf is wenger didint use eastmond during the pre season? Or am i missing somethinf..eastmond is way exp in the pl compared to frimpieee..but still we need an exp..tall..decent..dm…shittt

  54. cesc rule

flamini is good..we should hv him back…fuck abt royaltyy..he didnt get a new contract, thts why he left, not like hleb shit..

  55. Ricky

Lets just face facts fella’s.. We are very likley to not sign anyone.

Wenger has become waaaaay to complacent over the past 3-4 yrs & is feeding us nothing but crap! The only thing we as fans can do is let it be known that we are not happy & have had enough!! To many fans are to quite about there anger.. Do you think the mancs would allow this kind of thing to happen at there club?? IF wenger does not bolster the squad come the end of the transfer window we MUST get together & protest our anger & let him know that we are not being fed he’s crap any longer!

  56. Ricky

cesc rule, Its honestly sad that its getting to the stage were we are thiking of doing this to just fix what is so obvious to the whole world bar wenger & the akb’s BUT nows the time our voices should be heard. ive had enough! It’s not easy for many of us who spend HARD earned money on tickets that cost a bomb & then have to keep up to date with either a new away or home kit that comes out every season & especially when you got 2 young lads that want one (whole) kit each with there fave players names & numbers on the back. In return what have we got to show for it?? I mean we support & massive club not accrington. We have high expectations & are being led to believe that we should be challenging for a title. Ive honestly had enough now.. If the end of august comes & wenger has not done anything to show ambition then i will plan a protest. i already have over 20 ppl ready to protest at a drop of a hat & the more support from you guys the better! i think is time we speak up gooners.

  57. Moray

Even if we had very good young players coming through ready to meet the challenge (which I doubt, though this is more about the fragile creche mentality than ability or skill), there is always that aspect of “fantasy” that fans thrive on. Soemtimes it is more about the one-off thrill factor than the actual ability of the player to fit into the squad. It is why games like Football Manager are so popular. sometimes it comes off, and sometimes not. Think DB10 and Veron as two good examples of this. It also explains Beckham’s popularity throughout his career.

We don’t see to have this thrill factor any more. Chamakh will get us goals, but he’s not exactly a glamour signing which enables us to crow over our Spud fan friends in the work canteen or at school.

  58. Moray

Arsh, yes. I agree. But he had to pay some of his own transfer fee out of his own pocket.

Nasri, I wouldn’t include as a glamour signing.

  59. zeus

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski believes that he will get the nod as Arsene Wenger’s number one when the Premier League season begins this weekend.

The Poland international has starting in net for four out of the Gunners six pre-season contests, and Fabianski is confident that he will be the starting goalkeeper when Arsenal take on Liverpool in their season opener.

“I hope it will be a breakthrough season for me,” Fabianski told The Mirror.

“I have a double task. I want to become the No1 in the Arsenal goal and that would help me to realise my second target – to be No1 in the national team.

“Of course I don’t know if I will play but I do believe I will as I played in many of the pre-season friendlies.

“I am 25 years old, it is a good time to establish myself in goal for good.”

Reports throughout the summer have linked Wenger with a move for veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer from Fulham to replace Fabianski and Manuel Almunia as the starter.

However, the Polish goalkeeper insists that he is ready to have a good season and cement himself as the Gunners starter of the future.

“It was the same when I started at Legia Warsaw.

“Nobody knew me, there were arguments that I was not good enough to be No1 but I got that and moved to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“I am ready for the next challenge. I’ve had no injuries recently, I’ve worked well and am really prepared to fight for the No1 position.

“I believe I am good enough to play regularly in a Premier League team.”

*Stunned* How do you get the ‘jaw dropped’ emoticon?

It’s from the BBC, so you know it’s good – Arshavin had to pay back a $2.5m sum. that was the delay over the transfer.

Arsenal wait for Andrei Arshavin transfer to be ratified by Premier League
Arsenal are optimistic that their extraordinary efforts to sign Andrei Arshavin from Zenit St Petersburg for a club-record £15 million will be rewarded when the Premier League rubber-stamp the deal this morning.

“It’s going to be confirmed tomorrow by special committee of the Premier League,” said Arshavin’s agent Dennis Lachter on Monday night. “He’s very happy and he’s finally able to smile.”

The deal hit a late snag when it emerged the player would have to make a £2.25 million payment to the Russian club to force the move through. The Russian international, 27, was on the cusp of becoming Arsenal’s most expensive signing when the move stalled, with Arshavin reluctant to make the financial sacrifice that would allow him to join the club.

Sky the limit on deadline day Arsenal were given breathing space when the Football Association granted clubs an extension to the 5pm transfer deadline, and the club were working hard to try and complete the deal last night. After six weeks of work, it was threatened with collapse at the last moment.

However, the two clubs submitted all the relevant paper work and the Premier League should confirm the transfer today.

Arshavin had agreed personal terms – including wages of at least £90,000 a week on a four-and-half-year contract – at a secret continental location over the weekend before flying in to London on Sunday night. He passed his medical yesterday morning and when the two clubs agreed a fee the transfer seemed complete.

However there was a late snag. When Arshavin signed his four-year contract with Zenit in 2006 he was given a 5 million euro signing-on payment and Zenit argue that because he has only honoured half of his contract, he should pay half of it back.

Arshavin was understandably reluctant to sacrifice 2.5 million euros but with Arsenal refusing to add the sum to their transfer fee he was backed into a corner. He had described moving to Arsenal as his “dream”. It came down to whether that dream was worth £2.5 million of his own money.

With negotiations going into the night, a solution was finally found. Zenit had hoped that Alisher Usmanov, the Russian billionaire and major Arsenal shareholder, would make a financial intervention but he was understood to be willing only to help in negotiations and not put any of his own money up for the deal.

It was fitting that this protracted transfer had further twists on the final day. Arsenal have been negotiating intensely with Zenit for nearly six weeks and the club’s pursuit of Arshavin has been public knowledge since the Telegraph revealed last month that the player had made a secret trip to their London Colney training ground.

“RICARDO CARVALHO is on the brink of a switch to Real Madrid.
Boss Jose Mourinho agreed a £6.65million with former club Chelsea for the Portuguese defender, 32, who now faces a medical.” £6.65M????????????????

  62. MickyDidIt89

    Morning all.
Woke up feeling very positive. I simply do not believe Wenger will go into the season without further signings.
As I have said before, and yesterday’s Carvalho deal illustrates, much of the transfer activity has yet to happen.

On a depressing note. One of my children just got the new full away kit. On the inside of the shirt, an the back of the crest, they have included the Victoria Concordia Crescit, and I had to explain it to him. Tragic it is not on the outside with our traditional crest.

  63. dennisdamenace

    Believe it baby, believe it………

Our glorious leader is in overdrive mode to generate as much cash before he fucks off next year….

  64. MickyDidIt89

    DDM,
By the way, got a spare for Blackpool. Unbelievably, I’m in trouble already. Will ask Pedro later.

  65. Moray

    Micky

There is transfer activity still to happen, but we now have a domestic (and recently more successful) rival for our CB purchase.

Let’s just hope the Chavs aren’t as interested in 29 year old Bosnians as we are…

  66. MickyDidIt89

    Moray,
Yes, but it takes Madid out of the frame! Also, there are three or four named CB’s constantly mentioned on here, and one of them would do me. Along with one of the three or four GK’s also mentioned.
AW is without stubborn as well as unrealistic about valuations, but I guarrantee he wnts another title.
I will become a fully signed up doomer if there are no further signings. At this point, I refuse to believe it.

  67. Moray

    haha me too!

but I hate the way we always take chances like this to slice a bit off the buying amount. It’s not as though this GK requirement hasn’t been clear for at least a year, and we knew three of our CBs were coming to the end of their contracts. And how many of our players stay with us when that happens? None that I can think of.

  68. MickyDidIt89

    Yip, agree there Moray.
The whole leaving it to the last minute thing plays into the hands of other suitors, as they will always go the extra yard (or 10p) to get their man.
We, more than anyone, need to conclude our business early.

Still, I am sure we will end up with a Given and a Hangerland, or similar.

As in ’89, you have to believe until the fat lady sings (very glad I was not with some on this blog going into the 70th minute during that game, let alone the 91st!!!).
