Shocking discovery at the Emirates, PuyolIniesta to go on my new home shirt and why Arsenal will win the league and Carling Cup.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Pedro and I went to Members day at the Emirates, as shareholders we got taken to the new WM club and were given a free lunch with wine, very nice of them indeed, would I pay out £10k to join it, no, it was like eating in the works canteen, lovely staff and reasonable food, but £10k, not a chance.

Not to mention the club level fans in that area have lost probably 10,000sq ft. of lounge area, shame on you Arsenal, you have tried to find another way of skinning the same fans and that’s not right. If it was a restaurant that you could pay at on the day, I would have applauded it, but it isn’t and that’s just greedy, there is only so much money the fans will keep on paying and Arsenal may have just found the tipping point. And they package it up like they are giving the fans something extra. Shameful.

I expect it to turn into a restaurant in a season or two. Mark my words.

We sat in our seats and had an official for company, he wasn’t a steward, but he was a top bloke, and strangely, shared our views on recent events, non signings and all things Arsenal, we all agreed the stadium was a great move and Arsenal do some stuff better than anyone, anyway, we watched the team picture being taken and waited to see the players train.

They all went in and were announced as they came out, first out was world cup winner and captain, Cesc Fabregas, he came out to a roar and he ran out like my son did when he played for the cubs, excited, smiling and his kness were hitting his shoulders, he was excited, happy and seemed delighted to be there, what the hell has been going on this summer? He sure didn’t look like he didn’t want to be there, then the crowd burst into ‘we got Cesc Fabregas’ he loved it and clapped back and smiled like he had just won the pools, top, top man. He’s back and he’s back to stay!

Onto the team, I was looking at the players and in particular Denilson, you all know my views, but he’s bulked up, I said to Pedro, what if he has a Flamster season, I remember Flamini and apart from his stint at left back, I thought he was rubbish, then he had a wonder season, when Milan played us last weekend, I thought how much I wish we had him, then I looked at Denilson and something happened to me, I thought supposing he comes good? Hmmm, let’s see, it could happen.

So why do I think that? Frimpong, he has had a great pre-season and for the first time, Song and Denilson have competition and are on the timer, I hope so, I really want those two to be what we lack, an enforcer, a dirty pair of little gits that will show the other teams not to mess with our stars. Watch this space.

Chamakh came on to a huge cheer as did Robin the boy wonder, so I looked at the kids and thought, they don’t look so young anymore and when we play in the Carling cup, they will beat anyone, I really think this will be our year.

As for having Puyol and Iniesta on my new shirt, I think those two tossers have done more for Wenger’s resolve that £80mil could have, I also think they have disrespected us and Cesc knows it, so a big thank you to the pair of them!

Now the shocking news was we discovered Sagna can actually cross a decent ball, he made three crosses that went above knee height and found JET and Chamakh each time, a sign of good things to come.

No, it wasn’t the wine, this all took place before the two bottles that piggy Pedro and I polished off. The down side was Almunia was announced as number 1, and that surprised me, Pedro, the official from Arsenal and I all agreed we need to get a keeper we can rely on, Mannone looked better than our number 1.

So in all, I was very happy with what I saw, I didn’t expect to be, but I was. So why do I think we’ll win the league? Well the Chavs and Mancs have hardly bought, Rooney can’t have another season like the last and both teams are getting older, Terry was shocking at the world cup as was fat Frank, I would be surprised if either of them finish above us. Liverpool will improve and the spuds will tread water as will Villa. Man City have bought way too many players and can’t really play like a team.

So our kids will have had another year together and have bulked up, Nasri looks world class, Robin and Cesc are, Wilshere and Rosicky will give us trickery, Chamakh will be our Drogba and I expect Frimpong, Song and Denilson to provide what we have previously lacked, bottle and aggression.

I also think that Theo will finally prove why Wenger rates him so highly, I know many of you think he’s no good, but I think he will have a great year and JET gives us options at last, don’t loan him out boss.

Koscielny and Vermaelen are great tacklers and read the game well but struggled with the high balls and Almunia doesn’t instill confidence, if Wenger can bring in a big world class (big) defender and a keeper that can catch a ball at set pieces, then I think we’ll clean up. And Arsenal legend Frank McLintock who was a special guest, agreed.

For some of you, me saying that will be the real shocking discovery and not the crossing ability of Sagna.

Anyway, one thing is for sure, we need to play Liverpool with our best team, and that means Cesc and Robin have to play. Finally I didn’t see Diaby, I hear he pulled a muscle getting out of his Ferrari on his way to the team photo shoot. Get well soon Apu, sorry I meant Abu. (not the owner of the quicki-mart in the Simpson’s)

Have a great day Grovers, I have a funny feeling this year.

“It is important for football that players do not move away,” he said. “That nobody can just come in and say ‘we want him and you go’. So it is important that the policy we entered into a few years ago is productive. And I believe for the whole football world that it is massively important that Arsenal is successful and that there is not only one way have success in football – to just put a huge amount of money in.

    Man

As a Jamaican I’m somewhat disappointed myself. But Bolt was getting complacent and he was just back injury.

The most disappointing is that Asafa was ‘injured’ for the race. The only injury he has is in his head. Such a chocker on the big occasion.

  3. zeus

Guys guys, Arsene knows best. hehe.

You have to take bad things and make jokes. Alan Davies and co will have to be ESPECIALLY FUNNY this season to get me through.

I’ll have to get my kicks from watching the classless Madristas beat the classless Cuntas.

  4. Man

Yeah zeus, even when fit Asafa hardly performs at the highest level. Well, I hope it is the kick up the bum Bolt needs. It is healthy for the sport for Bolt to have genuine competition in Gay.

  5. patthegooner

    Its hardly a surprise.

I have been saying it all summer from the end of last season.

We were never going to get a Keeper in. He has too much belief in Schezney to risk getting in someone young so once again it was a signing that would be only done on Wengers terms (old and cheap).

If this going to be the case though, i hope it is Fabianski that is given the no.1 shirt. At least he has age on his side to use as an excuse for being shit. you never know he might learn from it. I just wish Wenger would learn from it.

  6. reggie 57

What will it take for that mug wenger to spend some readys a 6-0 thrashing by the scousers cos i can see that coming especially with the weakened team that we will put out? fuckin hell the first game of the season and he’s saying that we will be short WTF is going on in that head of his!! not much it seem’s

  7. patthegooner

Clever of Wenger though to bury the bad news on a day where Cesc makes a statement about staying.

    Fucking Mug

  8. Maciek

    And we can’t even protest.

7 days till our 1st league match and he is playing without our 8 1st teammers.

    Get lost, Wenger.

  9. Maciek

Pat. I would have spend 8 milion on Frey. A world class keeper. In 2 years time Wojtek will be ready. Simple. When I see clownunia or flapianski I’m sick.

Sick of this manager. Arrogant clown!!!!!

Hope Pool will trash us. destroy us!

  10. JJ

Maciek – the Pool comment was over the top. Be unhappy with Wenger but don’t EVER wish us to lose.

No one is happy with the situation but keep your head son.

  11. Gooner P

If Flapi fucks up….criticise wenger at the grove, If you go.

From what i have so far seen of Koz, Looks Decent, Will become class. Very Similar to TV5. i definatly can see the Mexes deal coming off.

I dont think we would sign Zapata, As we dont need another Carlos Vela sort of singing constantly on International Duty.

  12. MnM

Im hardly a regular on this blog, but I think I have made my feelings known on Denilson. I think he is a fantastic player. The stick he gets (not only here) is ridiculous in my view.

  13. arsenals next number 1

So we persuade Cesc to stay, but can’t get a proper keeper in to show just a bit more ambition, utter madness

  14. Arsene Nose Best

another reason why wenger must go,total bollocks not signing a keeper, koscielny is shit,he will get ruined in the prem.

  21. Jay

I feel none of youse bastards support arsenal like me! all you fucking do is give arseal stick especially arsenal!

  22. Sion De Freitas

My personal view on everything is this currently:

I’m marginally happy with how we are going into season (I’m an optimist by nature), but I am also frustrated at the fact that we have some basic weaknesses. Firstly, I knew Wenger wouldn’t buy a midfielder, so that was moot point to me. I have always maintained within my own thoughts on the DM issue that Wenger was watching the progress of Eastmond, Frimpong and Coquelin, albeit it would be to the chagrin of those expecting us to sign a more experienced player in that position. However, I actually trust Wenger here, as I believe that Frimpong may just about have enough in him to be a competent back up to Song. I think Song will have an even better season than last, ditto for Diaby.

We need a Goalkeeper in my opinion, we’re all agreed about that. Almunia doesn’t fill me with much confidence, and neither does Fabianski (although I think Fabianski can come good). However, I don’t think we should sign Joe Hart, as I think Szcezny will turn out to be more impressive. I think we need an older goalkeeper, Schwarzer wouldn’t have been a bad option, but I’d have gone for a more solid option. Not sure who else though, but more solid.

Central defence is an issue, but I think Mertesacker is DEFINITELY not the answer. He is tall, yes, and he can head the ball. He is decent at positioning I suppose, but he is way too slow. We need someone who is at least capable of matching the pace of the average champions league striker, to go with good position. No slow defenders please, not in our high line, would be suicidal. Those calling for Mertesacker are same ones calling for Hangelaand, and they’re both too slow. (I Believe Senderos had the same problem). Zapata or Diakhate, even that Saphic dude would be a better option with regards to the way we play. We need a bigger more aerially powerful defender though, that is true.

I have high hopes for our youngsters this year. I think that JET will be good for us if he stays. Wilshere needs to stay definitely.

  23. Sion De Freitas

Also, I like the look of the new players. Koz needs to do some conditioned bulking up, kettlebell or something. Chamakh is interesting though, he is not the archetypical target man, he can really get it down and play. He might not score 30 goals (he might just do that though lol), but he will contribute to a great deal of goals I think.

  24. Wenger the liar

    Sorry Sion.

Mate I just read Wengers comments about the goalie situation and I would punch my granny in the face if she was here.

3 CBs and no goalie, wenger is truely a twat.

  25. Sion De Freitas

I understand your frustration, I just don’t share that frustration. It is a problem I agree, but Arsene obviously knows that, and I think he is trying to rectify it, either with buying or promoting within (which I don’t think would be a good idea at center back, is Nordveit ready? Is Djourou & Koscielny really ready for that matter?). As for the goalie situation, I don’t believe that our goalies are terrible, but I don’t think that any of them are particularly good enough at the moment, other than Sczeszny (who is inexperienced).
I am willing to get behind the team and the manager though, Arsene seems to be a gambler, and I’m a person who likes the unconventional, just that Arsenal have the ability and the style, just need the balls to do it. The true confidence, being able to inspire oneself. That’s what they need, and that is the biggest fear I have of this team: They don’t believe as much as Arsene does. And the fans don’t either. That I feel is contributing to our lack of success, the lack of true determination.

  26. Wenger the liar

What makes it all the worse, worse than the fact we are heading into yet another season with no chance of a trophy, is that reading through other blogs mugs are worried about if Wenger signs a contract extension!

Honestly, nothing sums up Almunia better than Ronaldo placing a set piece down closer to the half way line than the goal and scoring on Almunias near post at waist height.

    Arsene Wenger – Cunt.

  27. Sion De Freitas

The fans being unhappy is understandable, but I can’t really identify with that crowd because I can see success on the horizon for Arsenal. I can see that there are players who have the determination and willpower, but they are few. Slowly they are beginning to find their character, but very slowly. I think that the young players we have at our disposal could be of great use to us, although I think some will disagree. Again, I understand the supposed need of experience, but I think that if a player can do a particular job, regardless of experience, he should play. That is my opinion. If they don’t play, how do they become experienced? Players aren’t born with ready-made experience, they earn it.

Yeah, we could buy a player, but it’s not as cut and dry as some of you like to make out. For example, the fans clamouring for us to sign Mertesacker: seriously, this guy wouldn’t fit into our team, anyone can see that, we need a more athletic defender, ideally one who can do what Mertesacker can. Just because he is tall doesn’t mean he is the answer.

  28. tevmar92

I’ve always been very optimistic about arsenal, but after so many years of failed promises the pessimistic is starting to take over and I don’t lik eit

  29. Wenger the liar

    Sion –

Players gain experience by playing at smaller clubs until they are of the standard to play for a big club.

    so for example:

Cesc plays at a shit feeder club like Arsenal until he is ready to play for a real team like Barca!

You can afford to play 1 or 2 players with little experience at a time at most and only if they are excellent do you stand a chance of a trophy.

However that doesnt relate to us anyway.

We have players with tons of experience in the prem, Diaby denilson Eboue Song Clichy are all experienced they are just not good enough.

  30. Sion De Freitas

It’s the winning culture. Yes, having a healthy appetite for winning and success is great, and anyone would be better off with that kind of mentality, but I watch football a little differently than others. I am passionate about the game, but I recognise that it is exactly that: a game. And when I’m watching or playing a game, I like to be entertained. I have been an Arsenal fan since 1994 when I was 6, and I have been a fan ever since, not just because I loved the team, or just because Ian Wright was my first favorite player, but because of all the teams I ever watched, nobody entertains me quite like Arsenal do. And that’s why I love the Arsenal. A lot of that is down to Wenger IMO, I remember more of Wenger’s era than George Graham, I’m accustomed to it. And more importantly, I think in the long run, what Arsene is trying to do…..is going to work.

    Belief.

  31. Fabo[4]

If we really don’t sign a keeper who exactly is the favourite to start at Anfield?

    Fabianski? Alumunia?

We might as well give Sczeszny the shirt, he can’t possibly do worst than those two.

  32. Wenger the liar

    A game?

£6m a year for delivering fuck all.

And please I hope youre not one of those delusional people that think “we play like barca” cause we dont. You may have seen us play against barca recently and they put that myth well and truely to bed.

The earlier point I made about gambling just as easily relates to “playing easy on the eye football” its a luxury that a manager who has won fuck all for YEARS should not be afforded.

Leaving Arsharvin on the bench in a semi so that “he could proved to the morons they could do it without him” is a luxury that should not be afforded a manager who has won fuck all for years.

Going into yet another season without the playing staff required to even give us a chance is an absolute disgrace.

We do desperately need a 4th centre half though, and quickly

    ——————————————————-
I agree wholeheartedly. I would like somebody who has good pace at the back, but with the strength, power, aggression and the aerial presence to attack the ball in the air. Pace is key to playing at Arsenal, which is one of the weaknesses of a couple of our players (Song & Denilson especially)

  34. tevmar92

Watching Arsenal is on another level from watching any other football match.

And watching a film has never made my shed more than a little tear but watching arsenal lose to Rooney’s cheat penalty that was a fine tackle by Campbell left me bawling.

I would love an Fa Cup. Can we at least have that??

  35. Wenger the liar

    Sion –

I like to ask Arsene supporters the same question and I would like you to answer this please:

How many more years should Arsene be given if he continues to deliver nothing –

    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    until he dies.

  36. Sion De Freitas

    WTL

We don’t play like Barcelona, we never have. We used a similar passing style once upon a time and employ it a little bit now. If there is one lingering criticism I have of Wenger of late, it is why we have been counter attacking so slowly? from 01 to 04, we had the quickest counter attack in the league, teams couldn’t deal with it. Now we take forever just to take a shot.

I think you’re delusional if you think Wenger sends these guys out there not to win, which I sometimes think you guys actually believe. Like I said, Wenger believes in the team’s ability to win. I don’t necessarily think Wenger is the big problem here, I think the players don’t believe in themselves enough. That’s what I think. That’s why I want Wilshere to play. He’s young and inexperienced, but he believes in himself, and that in turn will make him improve at a much faster rate. If only the other players were more like that. Perhaps some of those players need a toe up the ass? How I wonder……

  37. Honest Bill

    WTL.

Until his contract expires, and judging by the nature of this season’s performance, a renotiation should be considered, like you’d get with most contracts

  38. Sion De Freitas

    WTL

I’d give him another 3 personally. Like I said, I actually have belief that what Wenger is trying to do will work. I’m not that concerned that other people don’t, so I won’t be changing my mind. Yes there are flaws in Wenger’s plan. But if you think that there isn’t any flaws in buying a plethora of well known names with just as much guarantee of performing well as the players we already have (which is none), or sacking Arsene to bring some dead-out manager in, then you are not seeing the bigger picture at all.

  39. Honest Bill

    Sion.

Yes but it is Arsene Wenger’s job to make sure his players are properly motivated.

I believe Arsene’s over emphasis on mental strength and confidence is misguided, as it’s better that you push players to succeed, and confidence grows, especially when you don’t even think about it. You keep telling a player he’s mentally strong and you make him complacent.

  40. Wenger the liar

    Sion –

Mate I agreee 100% with the counter attacking.

He doesnt send them out there to lose but by the same token if I send my granny and her bingo mates out to beat United even if I believe they are 1-2% away from dominating it doesnt make it so.

    In relation to motivation:

It is the managers job to motivate, thats why the man gets £6m a year.

If the players are not motivated by the manager, lets give Arsene the benifit of the doubt here, then the man should get rid of them.

Why o Why are the same retards still here? You know as well as I do that when we get spunked on by Chelsea, United, Citeh (delete as appropriate, or maybe not as the case is more than likely to be) this year Diaby will be strolling back as the ball hits the back of the onion bag.

  41. Wenger the liar

    3 years?

    LOL

I cabt see the bigger picture, I cant see what he is doing?

    LOL

Yeah go on tell me how great conqulian and nordviet will be in twelve years time.

You my friend cant see the bigger picture, your being sold magic beans by mr wenger.

    And

even when a couple of players do reach their promise we will be selling our current decent ones.

you think RVP is waiting four years for LJW.

Never ending cycle of bollocks mate.

  42. Honest Bill

Some of the guys do need a kick in the arse that’s for sure. Arshavin. as brilliant as he can be, is one of them

  43. Sion De Freitas

I do agree with the motivation problem. I think that Wenger butters them up a bit too much in that respect. I don’t think that telling them that they have mental strength alone is going to inspire them. There are a variety of ways to do this. They need to be drilled in a certain sense, so that despite the style of play, there is a sense of discipline and organization involved. These are the areas I see Wenger and the team falling short in.

The three main things: Motivation, Discipline and Organization. I have no doubts about the abilities of our players. I analyze the game deeply, and I have my own interpretation often, so the abilities argument isn’t concrete IMO, but I have a well-thought out opinion on the matter.

I’ll give an example. I have been around a group of autistic people for the last few weeks (I myself being autistic aswell). They are all defying the supposed limitations of their disorder and going on to find employment and grow with confidence. They are also getting aided and inspired by the people that work with them. So I believe that the strength does come from within, but Wenger perhaps needs to take a different approach to aid them into utilising their potential (the p word lol).

  44. Sion De Freitas

Another example of motivation problems within the team:

    Denilson.

When he first came to the club and played, I was excited. He looked like an animal, flying into tackles, passing with assurance, excellent all round midfield play, for someone so young. He was hungry.

Now, he’s not so hungry. He’s complacent. So is Diaby to an extent, but not so much, he seems to want to improve more than Denilson does. Denilson needs to be motivated it seems, but a large part of that motivation comes from within. How hungry are you to be successful, and how brave and confident are you to do it with accomplished style?

  45. Wenger the liar

    Sion –

Anyway mate this youth talk is bollocks anyway. You argument about people needing experience is a moot point. In order to give us a chance of winning something this year we need:

    1. A goalie, we have two shit ones who will never win us the league and the most hyped kid ever – untied and pool had goalies do well in the prem who werent as hyped as this guy who did well at fucking brentford.

So we dont need to give anyone playing time, we need to buy.

    2. A CB, Djorou will be fucked this year and wont be available for half the games, this is a gimme. We have two CBs left one who has had one year in top flight football (france).

So we dont need to give anyone playing time here, we need to sign a CB preferably a starter.

    Thats the minimum.

    I would add

    3. A DM, some muppets think Song needs an understudy LOL this is fucking ARSENAL, song needs to sit on the bench and learn from a player who is better than mediocre.

Fringpong et al can go suck out, they dont need playing time unless you want to see us raped again like we got several times last year.

Fear is one of the best motivators. ie the fear of losing one’s place in the squad.

    ——————————————————–

Not necessarily. It could also be the biggest DEmotivator aswell. It all depends on how one reacts to fear, and the anxiety of possibly being replaced or dropped.

    —————————————————–

Not at any point did I say that we don’t need signings. I implied we need the RIGHT signings. That means being smart about who we buy. Bremen don’t want to sell Mertesacker, and Wenger doesn’t want to spend 20million plus on him if he thinks that hes going to come into the team and be shit. That is very much possible. I always thought we needed a defensive midfielder better than Song, I think Frimpong would do well, but it’s a bit of a gamble for me aswell. Song improved a great deal last year, that was unprecedented, so I wouldn’t say he is mediocre, but I agree, someone more assured is needed. Who that person is is up for debate. Experience is preferred.

  49. OPG

Our midfield worries me even though we’re well stocked, but not as much as our lack of depth at CB and our lack of quality GK between the sticks.

We’ve essentially got a collection of central midfielders besides Cesc that are either inconsistent, weak physically, inexperienced, lack mental strength, clumsy or are actually central attacking midfielders. Not quite the balanced depth we need.

Reading through your comments it beggers belief that your are still on the “lack of confidence” bollocks.

    I love Chamakh already…

“Blanc told me I shouldn’t join a smaller club like Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, Blackburn or West Ham. He really wanted me to join Arsenal but he wanted Arsenal to meet the asking price, which wasn’t much because I was starting the last year of my contract.”

couldnt belive this ….omg denilson animal?? hungry ??flying in to tackles ?? probably got confused with the beast bapista.. 😆

What the fuck?? We’re not getting a ‘keeper then???
jeez, my expectations for this season just fell. Our bunch is sure to cost us another 10 extra goals.

DDM why would Song want to leave Arsenal it’s his dream club?
There are some players that are not bid for since everyone knows they won’t leave unless they give the club a stupid amount. Eg. Scholes, Giggs even Fletcher.

Hahahaha. This is the comment of the day.No other top club would want

    Wtf

Arsenal launch £23m offer for Reina
Arsenal have launched an audacious £23 million offer for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina, according to The Sun.

  58. Rohan

If that’s true, fucking hell Wenger. Good on ye.

Pepe Reina would be absolutely perfect. Don’t care if he’s a cunt, he world class. Boom!
Can Pool resist that much money??? That’s the question…

  59. g.g.y

there is no chance of wenger spending £23m on anyone, never mind a goal keeper. He wouldnt even offer more than £2m for Mark Schwarzer.

a couple of seasons ago i was on here saying how inferior almunia was to reina and cech and one of the bloggers (cant remember which one) said almunia was better than reina!
