A minutes silence for the poor people that lost their lives in India.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

We are not a political blog, but we must all unite against the senseless killing of innocent people the world over and we have a lot of Grovers from India and Pakistan who I feel sure must feel sick and worried today, my friends our hands go across the water.

Football unites us here and the proof of that is on this blog, nothing and no cause is worth dying for.

Today I go to lunch with two chavs so I hope you all understand what I’ll be going through, I’m just sorry it’s not Monday, when I’ll be doing some serious bragging after taking those unsupported rich kids to the cleaners.

Last night I watched our reserves play Milan, a few ex/current Arsenal players were on show with Kanu, Traore, Flamini and Senderos, and it could have been Diarra, Lauren and Campbell too, so including Adams that’s almost a team and a manager. Kanu scored a great second, it was just like watching Arsenal.

How does it feel Flamini? Hey Phil, now you’re playing for a truly world class team, is it better? I bet you aren’t for much longer though, after watching your assist for the first, it made me realise how glad I was you went to Italy!

When I saw the players that Milan had I thought how on earth can they afford them, playing to massive crowds of 10,000 week in and week out, they are constantly linked with the worlds finest, having Goofy, Kaka, Sheva, Pato and Inzaghi in their ranks made me a little envious but when you saw them struggle against Pompey, it made me realise how lucky we are to have the EPL.

Tony Adams looked like the sort of manager we need next to Wenger, no offence Pat but he does shout a lot and I think that’s what we need.

So how can they afford those salaries and transfer fees and we can’t???

All the shit we get from Arsenal about sitting down, keeping quiet, watch the language, all I heard on their PA system was ‘please don’t invade the pitch’ – go figure, and we wonder why they make a noise and we don’t!

Onto us and the weekend, it looks like we’ll have all our regulars back in the shappe of Nasri, Sagna and Ade, I think the key will be the midfield battle and how best they protect the back four, please, please don’t start with Song, I think Cesc and Ramsey or Denilson should be the midfield with Nasri and Vela out wide.

I believe the key to beating them will be wide play and feeding Ade and Robin, Robin has to click soon and this could be the day, a RVP hatrick and Ade to get a brace, with Nasri and Cesc getting one a piece, you do the maths!

Robin came on as a sub at the Grove last time and could have had a hatrick, I really believe the boys will step up and lets face it, on Sunday, they have to, lose this one and it’s all over.

Chelsea against the unknown French side were shocking, even Milan could have beaten them on Wednesday.

Playing at the Bridge is not far from being a home game and we’ll have more supporters there than they will so it will be very vocal, I won’t be going this year so you’ll have to do it alone Grovers.

This really is for England for Harry and St. George boys, go get us three points.

I love you Arsenal I doooo!

Pascal Cygan any player can look good on youtube…. Ive actually watched Cana twice this season against Pool in the CL. He was very effective in the first at the Veladromme in the second leg at Anfield he seemed very subdued in his play he had an very steady performance though as expected a player can not be on fire everyday. If Song could give us a steady performance no fireworks no howlers just steady I would deeply appreciate it. Thats all we want Song a steady performance in midfield. STEADY

  2. avenell

    Evening Gnarley..

I watched the last quarter of an hour of the game when Cana played against the Dippers and he looked okay, but he played CH..

Is he a bit more lively when he plays in midfield?

  3. dh16

Coquelin is a might fine player, i have watched him since his arrival and he is a future partner for Cesc. But he is nowhere near the first team at the moment. He has a lot of developing to do both mentally and physically. Give him 3 years or so and he could well be there though

  4. London

I think there is a part of all of us that would be very tempted to play our best attacking team in the hope that we score more goals than the opposition but I worry about the gap between the defence and the midfield; so, I would play Song in the hope that he can protect the defence but I would do so at the expense of Nasri and not Vela.

I have nothing against Nasri but he is still settling in and up until now has not put in a decent away performance. In theory if Song is playing we can afford to be more attack minded and Vela fits that bill more than Nasri.

  5. Pascal Cygan

Franchise … agree. what we need is a Song for all seasons…:-).

Folks, it appears that Xavi is on his way out of Barca. Will he complement Cesc ? He does not look tall ( adding to the pygmy brigade) and does not have physical presence but is top, top class…

  6. Franchise

Guys we are Arsenal Arsenal the third most succesful club in English Football, Third richest club in the world. WORLD guys WORLD, GLOBE. Third richest and not first cos we dont do as much in Asia and the States like Mancs and Madrid do. Why cant we splash Β£15 – Β£20 million on a World Class CM that the likes of Denilson, Coquelin, Diaby, Cesc etc can learn from. Comon Arsene. U can address the CB issue in the summer but a CM and wide player (considering the injuries to Rosicky, Walcott and the inexperience of Wishere) in January please. There are players that are dying to move to this club. PLEASE

  7. dh16

That is true, he’s better than Song. A lot of our young players emerge as relatively unknows, such as Jack but Coquelin has a big reputation back home. Coaches at Clairefontain (speeling, sorry) have earmarked him as a future France captain and he has been invited to attend training sessions with the French under 19’s before now

  8. goonerjay

How can you tell when someone’s REALLY got an OCD?

When they have to pronounce it CDO because that’s the order of the letters in the alphabet.

I’ll get my quote… that was bad by my standards and that’s saying something.

Come on you gooners…. With the chavs defence looking a bit shakey this season and the way they like to attack i can see us turning them over if we play the way we know Arsenal can play… just need to keep song off the pitch and we’ll be fine… this guy makes Eboue look like Maradona

  9. goonerjay

I would actually like to see this Bischoff played ahead of Song… he’s been banging them in for the reserves recently and Banfields always got something positive to say about him

  10. Dobbi

I see what you mean it’s just that Song has been very poor and it would be inviting them to come at us. If we had a box to box midfielder then that would be the best. That’s why we must go shopping. I do think that Wenger will go with the formation that you suggest, but Nasri instead of Vela.

  11. gnarleygeorge9

Surely Cesc will behaving a word in Arsene’s shell like that he doesn’t want aspro playing along side of him πŸ˜‰

  12. Evo in Oz

    gday all,

just home from the pub and noticed the pompey score. then i jumped on here to note the blog.

then i went back and re-read the article on the telegraph to note that flamini and phil hadnt been referenced in the whole article. how could that be? then i thought, oh yeah, those bastards have played fuck all game between them for the season, they probably didnt start….

hang on a sec….i scrolled to the bottom of the article to note they both played the whole match….not being subbed at all

  13. Arsenal Tom

pascal… he’s far too expensive and far too highly paid/wanted to be coming to us… we’re probably 10 in the list!!!

  14. gnarleygeorge9

If Nasri plays, I reckon he will have a blinder. He seems to be @ his best when the opo are top shelf.

Like Big Tone was when he was on the top shelf

  15. patthegooner

I would rather see that crazy Greek Woman who always shouts “come one Arsenal, Come on you Gunners” to play ahead of Song.

In fact I would rather we bought we Robbie Savage to play ahead of Song.

I know we have had the odd really shit player in the past, but at least they had a personality and were likeable. Song is a lazy out of his depth mong.

  16. geoff

thing is players like Bischoff, Randall, Wilshere, Coquelin, Merida. Barazite, Simpson, Lansbury et al all have to learn their trade in the reserves, why didn’t Song, why did Wenger allow him to by-pass the reserves, all the above are better, that’s the bit I would like Wenger to explain, PHW and the others follow like obedient blind bitches, why doesn’t someone ask the question, why Arsene? why?

  17. Franchise

Arsene is already out of his comfort zone. or at least I think. If we didnt were fourth last season and knocked out earlier from the CL say 2nd round he wouldnt have had any excuses not to sign anyone this season. I think he even tried to sign a midfield player but his plans to wait until the askindg price drops backfired. I bet he would sign in Jan. Where we are in the league by then would decide if the player is CL cup tied or not. If we are several points behind the leaders in the Prem then he would nt be signing either of Alonso or Cana as they would be cup tied in the CL and he would want to improve the side to have a crack at the CL next May.

  18. avenell

Nasri’s poppy shirt has been put on ebay..

It’s not been on a day yet, 17 bids and it’s up to Β£1550.. so far!

  19. Franchise

    * didnt were

    meant were

was gonna say if we didnt do so well in the league then I realised that we actually didnt so i chose to say if we were fourth

  20. avenell

The shirt is for sale by arsenal football club, and you can ask the seller a question.

We can ask ask, WTF do you play Song?

  21. Evo in Oz

not sure if anyone agrees, but one of the best nights in football was the last game of the 05-06 season when we beat Wigan 4-2 and the spuds lost to the hammers 2-1.

i went to the pub at the usual after midnight kick off by myself to watch the game in hope that we would secure CL for the next season!

i was greeted to a pub with mostly gooner fans with a sprinkling of spuds and 2 screens side-by-side with both games on simultaneously!

going down 1-2 at half time had me severly worried, but the roller coaster ride after that was one of the best of all time.

i know we all love trophies. but i would nearly give a small toe to go back and experience that again….fucking brilliant and i wasnt even at the game, let alone in the same country!

  22. xeeez

finestcuts, its always the same! he has been giving these strong hints for some time but he always add, “If Arsene Wishes and finds anyone suitable”! Thats a big fucking IF u know

  23. xeeez

yea Evo that was a great Day..I remember SPUDS were wearing spanish hats that supporting Barca..they got what they deserved in the end!

  24. finestcuts

Yes xeeez, although players were signed in summer (mainly because players left) however this statement is uncalled for, whenever Arsenal’s transfer spending situation had been discussed, it was due to media reports saying that Wenger was forced into not spending.

Wenger has always maintained that if there is a chance of getting the player he wants, that Arsenal will bid for the player.
Because Rosicky and Walcott are out, we have to bring in new players.

Also, we’re not completely sure whether Gallas will stay until the end of the season, so there’s no choice. What if squad players get injured, who do we have to replace them. We need a few players.

  25. xeeez

Yea we need players fer sure..but bringing in a replacement for Rosick/Walcot is what Wenger mite agree to.. But that mite not be enought and the key question remains whether he will agree to the fact that we need replacements for Song/Denilson i.e. a new/better partner for Cesc?

  26. patthegooner

    That is good Kenny

Have you seen some of the comments he got for it? Some People just dont have a sense of humour

  27. Seb

    From finest’s BBC link

Flamini, who was part of the AC Milan team that drew 2-2 at Portsmouth in the Uefa Cup on Thursday, has backed Arsenal to bounce back from their early-season troubles, which included William Gallas being stripped of the captaincy after criticising his team-mates in public.

“Big clubs can have difficult periods but Arsenal have a lot of quality so I’m sure they will go forward,” said the Frenchman.

“They have amazing players and the important thing is to keep going, work well and I’m sure they will be ok.

“It’s never easy in the Premier League; it is hard, physical and every game is like a big battle. It is important to trust Arsene Wenger, he has done great things and we’ll see.

“I understand William, he wanted a reaction from his team-mates and I hope it will lead to a positive reaction from the team and I hope that will start against Chelsea.

“They are a big team but against big teams Arsenal always produces a big game.”

‘It is important to trust Arsene Wenger’ – what, like you did?? jesus…

  28. charybdis1966

Seb, I think Flamini is saying the right things at the wrong time. What he says, as you point out, doesn’t stack up with his actions this summer, but hey at least he’s being supportive of us. Can you imagine Le Sulk or Cashley saying stuff like that ?

  29. geoff

So PHW says “He is only going to buy someone if he thinks they are going to improve, okay, a very a young squad, but a very talented one.”

So what, Alonso, Barry, Cana, Inler or Veloso wouldn’t have improved our squad then?

Does that make Wenger stupid or does that make the comment stupid?

  30. Seb

True chary, but it just leaves a bad taste in the mouth

    ‘Arsenal are a big club’
    ‘they have amazing players’
‘Premier league games are hard physical and like a big battle’

Well mathieu why don’t you just pour the whole bag of salt into the wound you left behind eh. Don’t tell us what we already knew, and what we considered strong reasons why you should stay.

I know he was entitled to move, he had links with Italy, blah blah blah, but surely he must realise that part of our problems this season are down to his absence? And in those circumstances it might be better to say nothing for a year or so?

  31. avenell

“Hey Arsene do you want some money to buy players?”

“yes please Peter” ” how much have we got?”

    “stick it up your arse”

  32. Arsenal Tom

Geoff… the comment is clever because it immediately takes all blame away from the board… he’s basically saying

‘this is wenger squad, if they are shit then its his fault not ours, if he wants money then he can have it… blame him’

  33. geoff

No I think more like, I believe in this ‘buying young’ experiment and if it works I will go down in history as footballs most visionary manager.

Buying players will spoil that so I won’t. You can fuck off.

I will however take the bonus for having a surplus of money each year which goes straight into my sky rocket. Thanks.

  34. geoff

Tom no board would say spend or you’re out, like I said before though the takeover vultures are hovering.

Every Tory government saves prudently and then labour get in. The first thing they do is spend everything and the people love them, then they bankrupt the country and the Tory’s get back in and start to build prudently all over again.

    Get the picture?

  35. Doublegooner

I may post my source to Le Grove in private but this info has just come to me 15 mins ago via an individual connected to the club for last 30 years.

This same person who for last 2 years was adamant that Wenger had no money. I went fully along with this until Fiszman said Wenger could spend Β£30m on one player.

    However this is what I’ve just been told;

  36. geoff

Don’t believe it, they’re calling him a liar.

Why would the money go to Highbury square? they’re 90% paid for and we aren’t the developers, they foot the bill, we just get a cut.

Wenger in September before last could have gone anywhere in world football, why would he have stayed somewhere that said no money and contradict him all the time, sorry, makes no sense whatsoever.

  37. xeeez

yea exactly pedro..if there isn’t any just shut the fuck up and stop talkin bout it..
why give fans false hope and shatter them later?..

  38. Pedro

There is no benefit to Wenger in keeping his mouth shut.

If there was no money… it would suit him down to the ground. He could say he has to go with the kids… becuase he can’t afford anything else.

  39. London

Doublegooner there is a popular misconception over this fabled 30 mil. Fizman said that 30 mil would be made available not Wenger has 30 mil to spend. There is a huge difference.

  40. Doublegooner

Because we need a CEO & he’ll be in charge running the whole business on a exellent salary.

Once these ALL the flat s are supposedly sold/completed ie funds in the bank, will we then freed up from this now albatros, & at what cost.

Myles Palmer, in his postthis week made a point I mentioned a while back, was that the club should have sold the project off to a major developer in the beginning & should have not become a developer themselves.

Thats why I kept saying we’ve become a property company over being a football club.

  41. avenell

I don’t think there has been money to buy good quality players..
But dropping out the top 4 is going to cost them more… So they are going to borrow some!!!

  42. Doublegooner

I also feel what is the benefit Wenger saying nothing to contest the ‘money available comment’ when the opposite maybe be true. All this does is make sure he takes the flak from all of us watching the team & club falling bigtime.

Why is he staying if that is the case ?

  43. raif

yeah good post its messed up what’s going on in India.

the world is just fucked up. and getting worse. Kids Killing one and other. Groups killing to get there Political views across. Big corporations trying to screw everything for a extra Pound. people are starving in the third world countries while the Super Rich countries Rape them of there natural resources,

its a real shity deal indeed. πŸ™

  44. Pedro

Doublegooner, I’m not besmirching your source. I just don’t think accounts lie.

The reason Arsene doesn’t plead poverty, is because he is not in poverty.

It doesn’t make a blind bit of difference if we are skint… there is a lock down agreement.

As far as the property thing goes… it’s mostly built and mostly sold. I don’t understand what this money is tied up in?

Myles Palmer reckons we should have sold it off to a developer… and what… sacrificed Β£30million quid in the process? That is madness. If you are capable of building a monster stadium on budget… why not redevelop the old one and cash in?

  45. kelsey

it’s all bollocks.3 experienced internationals coming in january.last year i heard the same thing and wenger was going to revolutionise football and chelsea and manu wouldn’t know what hit them

no offence to you DG it’s just we hear these stories all the time

  47. raif

i think we are saving more money then spending. if you look at the players on big wages we let go over the years and the lack of Signings. we must have saves shit loads of Cash. so we are by no means Poor or in poverty.

Tesco installed a medical machine that for Β£5 and a urine sample, would diagnose any condition. When Jim went with a sore elbow, the computer printout read “U hav tennis elbow. Soak it in warm water and avoid heavy work for 2 weeks” Impressed, Jim wondered if he could fool the machine. He mixed tapwater with dog poo, urine samples from his wife and daughter, and then pleasured himself into the mixture. When he tipped it into the machine the next day, the printout read: 1. Ur tapwater is too hard. Use softener. 2.Ur dog has ringworm. Giv it antibiotics. 3.Ur daughter is on cocaine. Get her to rehab. 4.Ur wife is Xpecting twins. Not urs. Get a lawyer. 5.If u keep playing with yourself, ur elbow wont get better! Thank u for shopping at Tesco.

‘Have you ever been in the armed services?’
‘Yes,’ he says. ‘I was in Iraq for two years.’
The interviewer says, ‘That will give you 5 extra points toward employment,’ and then asks, ‘Are you disabled in any way?
The guy says, ‘Yes …a bomb exploded near me and blew my testicles off.’
The interviewer tells the guy, ‘O.K. In that case, I can hire you right now.
Normal hours are from 8 AM to 2 PM.
You can start tomorrow at 10:00 – and plan on starting at 10 AM every day.’
The guy is puzzled and says, ‘If the hours are from 8 AM to 2 PM, whydon’t you want me to be here before 10 AM?’ ‘
‘This is a council job,’ the interviewer says.
‘For the first two hours we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our bollocks, not really any point in you coming

A young man goes into the Job Center in Jacksonville , Florida , and sees a card advertising for a Gynecologist’s Assistant. Interested, he goes to learn more. ‘Can you give me some more details?’ he asks the clerk.

The clerk pulls up the file and says, ‘The job entails getting the ladies ready for the gynecologist. You have to help them out of their underwear, lay them down and carefully wash their private regions, then apply shaving foam and gently shave off the hair, then rub in soothing oils so that they’re ready for the gynecologist’s examination.

The clerk continues, there’s an annual salary of $45,000, but you’re going to have to go to Oxford , Mississippi . That’s about 620 miles from here.’

    Dear Friends

As we move closer to the end of another momentous year I want to thank you for all the e-mails you have forwarded to me over the past year. They have been amusing, informative and in some cases life saving.

I would also like to thank the Government-but I can’t think of anything appropriate-except to say I’m really looking forward to the recession and all that goes with it.

I must also send a big thank you to whoever sent me the one about rat shit in the glue on envelopes, because I now use a wet sponge for every envelope that needs sealing.

Also, I now have to wipe the top of every beer can-and that numbers 1000’s-I open for the same reason.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it all away to sick people all over the world who were about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time.

However my finances will regenerate when I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates and Microsoft are sending me for participating in their special email programs. Or from the senior bank clerk in Nigeria who wants me to split seven million dollars with me for pretending to be a long lost relative of a customer who died intestate. In addition I am expecting at least 5 million euros from my anticipated win on the Latvian lottery

Good news though I need no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me.

On the plus side I have learned that my prayers will only get answered if I forward emails to seven friends and make a wish within five minutes.

I no longer drink Coca-Cola because it can remove toilet stains and God knows what it does to my intestines.

I no longer buy petrol without taking a friend along to watch the car so a serial killer won’t crawl onto my back seat when I’m filling up.

I no longer go to shopping centres because someone will drug me with a food sample and rob me.

I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number to receive a major prize, and then I’ll get a phone bill for Β£500,00 for making calls to Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore and Uzbekistan .

I can’t use anyone’s toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my bum.

I can’t even pick up the five pounds I found dropped in the car park because it was probably put there by a crazed axe murderer waiting under my car to grab my leg.

If you don’t send this email to at least 144,000 people in the next 10 minutes, a large pelican with an acute case of diarrhoea will sit on your head and fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a most unsightly hairy hump.

I know this because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbour’s ex-mother-in-law’s second husband’s cousin’s plumber – and it was on Good Morning Mongolian TV

By the way…. did you know that a South American scientist has, after a lengthy study, discovered that people with low IQs who don’t have enough sex, always read their emails while holding the mouse.

Don’t bother taking your hand off now, it’s too late.

    A Blonde in Church

An Alabama preacher said to his congregation, “Someone in this congregation has spread a rumour that I belong to the Ku Klux Klan. This is a horrible lie and one which a Christian community cannot tolerate. I am embarrassed and do not intend to accept this. Now, I want the party who did this to stand and ask forgiveness from God and this Christian Family.”

No one moved. The preacher continued, “Do you have the nerve to face me and admit this is a falsehood? Remember, you will be forgiven and in your heart you will feel glory. Now stand and confess your transgression.”

    Again all was quiet.

Then slowly, a drop-dead gorgeous blonde with a body that would stop traffic rose from the third pew. Her head was bowed and her voice quivered as she spoke, “Reverend there has been a terrible misunderstanding. I never said you were a member of the Ku Klux Klan. I simply told a couple of my friends that you were a wizard under the sheets.”

The preacher fell to his knees, his wife fainted, and the congregation roared.

Real story by a Man who was standing in a queue in Tesco’s………

I have 3 dogs & I was buying a large bag of Winalot in Tesco and was standing in the queue at the till.

A woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
On impulse, I told her that no, I was starting The Winalot Diet again, although I probably shouldn’t because I’d ended up in the hospital last time, but that I’d lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and the way that it works is to load your trouser pockets with Winalot nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry & that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.

I have to mention here that practically everyone in the queue was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a guy who was behind her.
Horrified, she asked if I’d ended up in the hospital in that condition because I had been poisoned.
I told her no, it was because I’d been sitting in the road licking my balls and a car hit me.

I thought one guy was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard as he staggered out the door.

The Swede’s wife steps up to the tee and, as she bends over to place her ball, a gust of wind blows her skirt up and reveals her lack of underwear.

‘Good God, woman! Why aren’t you wearing any skivvies?’, Ole demanded.

She replies, “Well, you don’t give me enough housekeeping money to afford any.’

The Swede immediately reaches into his pocket and says, ‘For the sake of decency, here’s a 50. Go and buy yourself some underwear.’

Next, the Irishman’s wife bends over to set her ball on the tee. Her skirt also blows up to show that she, too, is wearing no undies. ‘Blessed Virgin Mary, woman! You’ve no knickers. Why not?’

She replies, ‘I can’t afford any on the money you give me.’ Patrick reaches into his pocket and says , ‘For the sake of decency, here’s a 20. Go and buy yourself some underwear!’

Lastly, the Scotsman’s wife bends over. The wind also takes her skirt over her head to reveal that she, too, is naked under it.

‘Sweet mudder of Jaysus, Aggie! Where ta friggin hell are yer drawers?’

She too explains, ‘You dinna give me enough money ta be able ta affarrd any.’

The Scotsman reaches into his pocket and says, ‘Well, fer the love ‘o decency, here’s a comb….. Tidy yerself up a bit.

soldier ran up to a nun. Out of breath he asked, ‘Please may I hide under your skirt. I’ll explain later.’

    The nun agreed.

A moment later two Military Police ran up and asked, ‘Sister, have you seen a soldier?’

The nun replied, ‘He went that way.’

After the MPs ran off, the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said, I can’t thank you enough Sister. You see, I don’t want to go to Iraq.’

The nun said, ‘I understand completely.’

The soldier added, ‘I hope I’m not rude, but you have a great pair of legs!’

The nun replied, ‘If you had looked a little higher, you would have seen a great Pair of nuts…I don’t want to go to Iraq either.’

this is not in any way meant to be racist

When Madonna first moved to England
she said she wanted to feel more…English.

She is now an unmarried, single mother with three kids from different fathers, one of them black.

    Mission accomplished.

    Afternoon all

Pedro – DG’s post at 1.05pm. I know we did that arguement to death on sunday night but its interesting that it won’t go away.

If the boards line is that there is money, Arsene is not going to go against the spin – hes too much of a gentleman for that.

There would be uproar from the fans if PHW said ‘There is no money to spend’ because we pay the most for tickets and we know the development is going to make money for the club.

Arsene may have been promised a job for life as long as he steers the club through the next 2 or 3 years.

kelsey – n london calling nw london-on-sea, my husband has booked his flight to florida to join the line for the gyne assistants job πŸ˜†

Do you have blue sky and sunshine?

  62. London

There is reason for Wenger to keep his mouth shut if money was not available; I am convinced that he would see it as toeing the party line.

It is akin to you not saying anything detrimental about Geoff or his business interests.

That said I firmly believe that Wenger has access to funds if and when he needs them.

  63. Stu

Kelsey, fucking brilliant, where do you get them!

Raif, that dog isnt bad but that german is nothing compared by my dog. He really is the dogs bollocks…. its a shame he doesnt have any tho. lol

  64. peachesgooner

London – I agree with you on both counts.

AW would not go public against the board.

If he wants money for transfers he would get it BUT he knows that the board doesn’t really want to him to spend money at the moment.

What do you think of the job for life scenario?

  65. Arsenal Tom

Geoff… on the wenger spending thing… my point was that hill-wood was just looking after himself… he also said something like ‘theres talk that we keep stopping him spending, thats never been the case’

that to me was just them distancing themselves from the problem we got on the pitch, saying ‘theres money if he wants it, we’ve done our part, the rest is up to him’

  66. Paulinho

I agree about Song being the lesser of the two evils. There seems to be an effective simplicity to our central midfield play when Fabregas and Song play. Song, for all his faults, seems to know where to place himself on the pitch so that he doesn’t crowd out Cesc.

Denilson ends up getting in his way and ends up following Cesc around like some lost little brother. Always perilously parallel to each other and this means we are effectively a man short in terms of penetrating offensively.

  67. Pedro

London, but there is nothing to indicate there is no money to spend?

Where is the benefit in lying at all about the state of the finances?

It suited us at Highbury when we were skint… in fact… it would suit the board now to say they were skint if they were.

There is no need to lie, there is no evidence there is no money and all the people in power are backing the fact that there is money.

We know why Arsene isn’t spending… he is on a promise. Like you said yesterday in your assessment over the Flamini situation.

If Wenger went out and bought 4 26 year olds… who would send their kid to Arsenal?

  68. rico01

Afternoon All, i reckon there is money and I reckon he will finally spend some in January – AW honestly believed that Denilson, Song, Nik, RvP, Ade and anyone esle I have missed out, would step up this season and perform. But its clear to all of us (who poss knwe anyway) they haven’t, and having lost five games against average sides, he will finally see the same as us. Surely…..

MP says 3 players with experience are being lined up for Jan, and I wouldnt be surprised if that is somewhere near the truth, but AFC have to feer the right price, and not muck around with silly offers. I reckon we will see a CM who can make crunching legal tackles, and a defender of the same stature. Oh and the 3rd player – David Villa πŸ™‚

  69. Sarge

Pedro, I agree the money or how much we’ve got isn’t the issue at stake. The issue is about acquiring players to plug the weaknesses in the team. Whether that will cost us 3mln or 30 mln no-one knows.

Firstly, Wenger needs to admit to those weaknesses (all publicised and fully discussed so wont go into details). Secondly. identify the players to solve these issues. Thirdly get Ivan on the case and get the deals done.

Providing Wenger fulfills points 1 and 2 and we have the money outright it’s a no-brainer. If cash is short, use what we have and unload the flotsam. There’s enough shit we could sell for reasonable cash to make up the shortfall. If not, prioritise and get the rest in the summer

  70. rico01

Have a good evening all, stuff to be getting on with, some numpty went into the side of our car, so off to get a quote

    Be safe πŸ™‚

I’ll email you & Geoff separately.

I can only tell you what I’m told. Whatever the truth is, we as fans are treated like mugs. I appreciate the club cannot dilvulge certain information but they sure as hell know how to keep the prices high.

Another consideration I’ve had is if Im correct in thinking that the 3yr deal on the boxes is now up & I’ve heard suggestions ( not from the same source) that these are not going t be easy to resell, that also goes with annual Club Level renewals.

I’m sure the club are now having to re-factor this into figures.

  72. Sarge

Forget all the bollocks around the team, who’s shit and who we should get instead. What would be the biggest and most important change you would like to see at this club?

  73. gazzap

Going back to the midfield – if wenger insists on playing 2 creative midfielders then i think its clear Den and Cesc has not worked. So why not try Ramsey and Cesc instead? I still think we’d be a bit open through the middle, but its worth a try because Den aint working.

  74. Sarge

The reason I ask is that maybe we are looking at the problems from the wrong angle.

As a plc the board structure is dominated by the majority shareholders with limited space for non-shareholding executive officers i.e. CEO. There is not enough non-shareholding or non-executive shareholding representation for the fans. No fan voice at the top level.

The club has been banging on about core principles and being the ‘custodians’ of the club for the fans. Bollocks are they. Without fan representation at board level that principle is horse shit.

If the Arsenal Supporters Trust had half the bollocks they would move to create a motion to re-constitute the board to include fan representation.

That’s the change I would like to see.

  75. kelsey

I am back after a short siesta.

This money thing is driving me mad.
Are the club mad as well 5million for bedntner,6 million for gallas etc.

All that would buy you one decent past international without any legs.

  76. kelsey
