Song back and time to blood Wilshere, let’s fool the Iranian.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

We’ve done the race and gay thing, so now it’s time to get back to football, Song is back in contention but that does little for me, the team that played Porto does however, but I would move Nasri in for Denilson, play Wilshere out wide and bring Djourou in for Kolo.

Keane is determined to wipe beautiful football off the pitch on Saturday

Recent quotes attributed to Keane indicate he wishes to wipe beautiful football off the map this coming Saturday.

I think Bone ‘o’ the Iranian president lookalike will be expecting us to pack our team with big lumps and he’ll come at us like Fulham and Hull did, so I would surprise him and strengthen the back with some height and stuff the midfield with creativity and players not afraid to shoot.

That would be tactically brave but in my opinion spot on.

What do you think?

Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed reports that Mark Hughes has been sounded out to replace Juande Ramos as manager of the struggling north London club.

    GettyImages

Mark Hughes: Highly rated young manager.
A report in The Sun claimed that Hughes had been offered a five-year deal worth around Β£20million to lure him from his position as manager at the richest club in the world – with Manchester City now backed by the Abu Dhabi United Group – to the Premier League’s bottom side.

But Spurs took an unusual step on Friday and issued a statement to reject rumours that an offer has been made to former Blackburn Rovers boss Hughes.

“The club largely refrains from making statements of this nature unless absolutely necessary in order to set the record straight in light of wholly inaccurate reporting,” read the statement.

“An article on the back page of this morning’s Sun newspaper reports that the club has made an offer to Mark Hughes to take over as manager during the forthcoming international break.

“This story is completely untrue and without foundation and the matter is being discussed with the publication.”

In October 2007 Ramos replaced Martin Jol as Tottenham manager amid reports that he was approached by the White Hart Lane whilst Jol was still in the job.

Tottenham’s chairman Daniel Levy denied the truth of the reports at the time but as Jol’s position became increasingly undermined by the media speculation the Dutchman was indeed eventually replaced by Ramos, who resigned as coach of Sevilla.

Last season Ramos won the Carling Cup with Spurs but the club has made a terrible start to this campaign. Spurs are currently winless in the League, having taken just two points from their opening six games.

They truly are a joke, there is nothing left to express them

BTW Mark Hughes would be on crack to go from winning the Euro Millions jackpot to joining the dole?

I think the world just needs to grow up.. enough of this talk about coloured people and the likes.

First and foremost we are human beings. Race, colour and gender come on later…
I think the one’s who discriminate are not educated enough and are insecure or maybe even ignorant. That is their loss. If it makes them look good… so be it..

now onto matters of football.. does anyone think adebayor will be rested?

  3. Gunner8

As Geoff rightly pointed out Baz

I think Diarra would be doing the job for us but Wenger would not have let him go had his head been in the right place, he seems to be a Bentley, Pennant type of player who thinks they are better than they are and Wenger often let’s them go, which is why I am still amazed Ade is at the club

  4. BazzaGooner

Sell Berbatov, sell Keane, buy the russian and play him on his own up front. Ramos is a footballing genius

  5. finestcuts

Hey everyone, thanks for the shout outs, I’ve been back a couple of days, did my piece on it all and just like the racism issue, which none of our fans are otherwise we wouldn’t be so enthusiastic about such a multi-cultural team, it’s best to just go forward.

I’ll join in with the Sunderland 2-0 bandwagon but away from home the odds are almost always against you as regards keeping clean sheets, the home crowd egg their players on to score goals.

The whole issue surrounding corners is just hype, we’ve let 3 in but surely if it was a major weakness it would have been a regular occurrence last season, it’s just happened more often recently. When you get a corner you should always have a couple of players holding the line, part of the battle is man marking players in key areas and limiting space of movement, height is an obvious advantage however I think Wenger would have chosen taller players overall if we couldn’t cope with the threat. We’re bound to lose a few battles when getting corners, just as other teams are when we get a corner against them. We’ve had quite a few and if we had scored at the same ratio as we’ve conceded we’d have around 6 more goals.

Also someone mentioned Denilson needing rest as a defensive midfielder. I believe we’re playing the 2 banks of 4 version of 4-4-2 not the diamond at the moment ie. 2 central midfielders, not labelled offensive or defensive which is why we’re seeing Fabregas to-ing and fro-ing more than ever. It is very effective as we witnessed against Porto.

  6. Stu

Sunderland can only play long ball with Jones in the team and isnt he injured since the start of the season. Neither Cisse nor Chopra are known as target men but then again neither was Cousin and he won everything against Gallas so…..

I agree that JD should be playing but Wenger is unlikely to break up Kolo and Dick.
I am however confused about why you would put Nasri alongside Cesc as they are both attackminded and would leave us open to counters. I know Denilson isnt the defensive midfielder we were all hoping for but he would surely do a better job that Nasri. Having said that tho i would still prefer Song in there until Diaby gets his chance after the break.

After all of his mistakes i think its about time Gallas was dropped and JD gets his chance. Whatever about who is playing worse between the center backs but Gallas’ mistakes have cost us goals and points. I would also like to see Vela and Bendtner given chances but after Ades and RVPs goals in midweek, i wont be holding my breath.

  7. timao

Afternoon, I’m trying to stop taking the piss out of Ramos now but this quote from today’s Times is his own words. “It’s hard to get one [a clean sheet]. It makes it harder to win matches when you have problems to score as well.” Talk about tactical nous!

  8. BazzaGooner

I agree Gunner 8 his head wasn’t in the right place and he should have been patient but I can’t help feeling a little envy when I see the performances he has put in for Pompey. Ade is at the club because he scored a shit load of goals lat season…and looks a like he will do it again. I was extremeley pissed with his attitude in the summer but I’m glad he’s still here. I still don’t like seeing him kiss the badge though.

  9. Geoff

Finest, problem is when we concede a corner we shit ourselves, when we get one there’s no expectation, 60 odd I think we’ve had, not including Tuesday, and we lose two players, poor really.

  10. Geoff

Stu I would play attack minded midfielders and let the defence defend, that’s why I would put Djourou in there.

More flair in midfield will win more matches.

  11. Geoff

Steve for some strange reason you keep dipping into awaiting consideration, I’ve released you so no problemo, but have you changed your IP address?

  12. Stu

I see your point that offense is the best defence but considering we are away to a fairly desent side and our defending hasnt been that good latelt i would still favour a DM in the mix.

As for Ade kissing the badge the other night: the next match i go to (which is likely to be the next Emirates cup) if Ade hasnt forced his way out after another summer of shinanigans, hasnt won us the title and is slobbering over the badge then i may hurl some abuse at him of even write a distasteful banner. (nothing racist tho, given the hot topics of late)

And if Gallas is still captain, i will be sending AW a paper plane with my thoughts attached.

  13. Geoff

Ade is the new Patrick, every year for the next 4 he’ll be wanting out, then just like TH14 and Patrick he will spend the rest of his career talking about us, you’d think they’d learn eh? but they’re either greedy or thick or both, I know where my money is!

  14. Stu

I read an article yeaterday in the times(online) and it was an interview by Smudge with the famous 4 or is it fantastic. I dont really remember because i didnt watch sports at the time but it was one of the best things i have read, up there with TAs book.

They spoke about Goerge Graham and his influence on them and how he thought them to defend so well etc etc… And also about Wenger and their time under him, extended by his fitness regimes.

They basically said that you couldnt learn how to defend as well as they all could. That got me thinking about our current defence. Im not questioning Clichy os Sagnas ability to defend because under Wenger they are asked to attack more than defend. My thoughts were that neither Gallas or Toure are born defenders. Topure was a right midfielder and Gallas is…….(well whatever his star sign is). Tone and Bould were amazing defenders and also capable of leading a team. Anyone of them could captain a side.

Oh, and why is it that Wenger has never bought a good centreback? Its sooooooo annoying. Thats all!

  15. Gunner8

Stu Toure and Gallas started their careers as strikers, say’s it all really

I think AW would like a team of strikers and doesn’t give a flying fcark what we want

  16. Gunner8

otherwise we would have seen this team

    ————-Buffon
    Sagna-Toure-Kompany-Clichy
    Nasri-Fabregas-Barry-Quaresma
    ——vanPersie-Villa

    wouldn’t we?

  17. Arsenal Tom

dennis… thats what im talking about brother! 4 of those and a parma ham and motzarella panani and here i am!!

    sunderland 1 arsenal 3

  18. Steve

Have you been down one of the Mithras Group’s places Tom. That’s the kind of stuff that they do. You’ve made me very hungry and thirsty.

  19. dennisdamenace

Pedrooooooooooooooooooo – Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! Birra Morretti is a blight on all decent and upstanding beer drinkers, without a shadow of a doubt the single worst beer i and my fellow gusslers have ever had the misfortune to drink!

  20. mark c

re Sunderland, Jones is missing for them, he has been all season.

He is a big strong forward that would give Toure and Gallas problems in the air at set plays.

Some people have been saying that we cant lose any more games this season, but remember 2 loses is the same as 3 draws, 6 points lost.

If we turn some of the draws we have last season into wins, we will do well. Man U lost about 5 last season and they won the league.

  21. Stu

I realise he brought in campbell but that was only because he didnt cost a thing. I may not be a fan as long as most of ye here but i read back in arsenal history books etc and the best defenders Wenger has ever had were the ones he inherited from Graham. In his 12 year spell in charge i dont ever remember him buying an accomplished defender. He has failed most of the time.

It must just be that he doesnt want anyone to like defending. Cygan was hopeless with us but got Villareals player of the season in his first year there. I know its only in spain but still my point stands. Kompany joined Citeh and has been a revelation there, getting a few gaols and stopping a few too. Hes a big lad and is even playing dm for them. I remember Wenger said he was always monitoring him but this wasnt the time to but him. Maybe he is waiting for him to get injured first.

  22. Geoff

Pedro I keep asking you look at Steve, he keeps getting left in moderation, I just got him out again, now I’m off.

  23. dennisdamenace

    Pedro – Truly!

We attempted to drink the stuff while on a holiday in Rhodes back in ’88 and the thought still haunts me to this day!!

  24. Pedro

Did you not here about the new and improved remix?

Tom… you’ll have to let us know about the taste… to settle this beer taste match once and for all!

  25. Steve

After the day we’re having Pedro I’m surprised you have chose to discriminate against all Steves. Shame on you indeed.

    Steveism.

  26. Pedro

Can you post under a different guise for a bit Steve? I can’t figure out how to sort this!

I’d never be Stevist… my best friend is a Steve…

  27. Gunner8

I have found out now that to be able to neck a half time beer at the grove I need to make it a lager top otherwise I gag on the vile shite that is pumped out… …quite sad

  28. charybdis1966

DDM – I konw how Rico feels (not in the “getting in touch with my feminine side” way) but I used to the only bloke on another forum and felt a little weird.

I suppose she at least has QoS and Skandibird as company, albeit fleetingly.

  29. Paulinho

I have a feeling we will lose tomorrow- a really bad feeling. Keane knows the pysche of Arsenal players better than most. I remember he correctly stated that we bottled the champions league quarter final versus Chelsea and last week’s result against Hull would have strengthened his belief in our lack of underbelly.

They put the wind up us at the Emirates and this year they have more quality, so they can implement the pressing game with genuine quality. It will one of those traumatic games I think with Wenger being aggrieved at something afterwards.

  30. Stu

    Good news:
Martin Keown attacks Gallas (unfortunately only verbally tho) and blames his lack of desire for his inability to defend.

    Bad news:
Gallas is still going to start until he dies. And Eboue will also continue to play wherever he wants until he dies or releases Wengers family. (how else do you explain his constant inclusion, apart from the attack theory that is?

  31. Gunner8

my favorite in the whole wide world is Bohemia from Mexico, damn that is nice beer and for winter the old Steiner Bock from Steiner, Tx.

  32. Arsenal Tom

steves are ok… my brother is one of them!!

once those morettis are ill give a full taste report… anything made by heineken cant be that bad!!!

  33. Pedro

DDM, now that my friend… is a beer!

Paulinho, I’m expecting 3-0… I don’t think Sunderland are particularly thuggish, but they are not particularly skilful either… I’m confident.

Anyway, I’m off out now! Have a good one Grovers!

  34. Gunner8

Stu, I always thought that he was a felatio master who serves AW 3 times a day, “The royal penis is clean your highness.”

    but your theory works

  35. rico01

chary – please, i feel the need to clarify… πŸ˜‰

my comment was TO dennis, re Jamie Redknapp and his corner taking antics….
which made me smile – hence my πŸ˜†

Phew, glad that is off me chest πŸ™‚

  36. Stu

Whatever happened to that Dan Smith who wrecked Diabys ankel. He missed the CL fina because of that and was on fine form at the time. Thats where all his problems began.

  37. Arsenal Tom

    choy…

a shit PL striker who can only perform for his country who nearly got his club relegated whilst being their ‘big summer signing’

or maybe that who i think he is….

  38. goonermichael

A man walks into a bakers with a big salmon under his arm
Have you got any fish cakes?
    Sorry we don’t do them.
    That’s a shame it’s his birthday

talking about beers If you want a good light beer try Asahi super dry

  39. charybdis1966

Sorry Rico – I checked and you had got DDM’s second “n” – I left it out ! Mea Culpa. πŸ™

  40. Stu

Imsure most of ye have heard this already but here it goes. Some more good news.

FACT: Every premier league team that Robbert Keane has left has been relegated the following season. i.e: Coventry, Wolves, Leeds and …..?

Whos next i ask! Leeds were in the champions league and managed to go down- something i was happy to point out to a spud “fan” who, after reading the above word for word, replied: ” did Inter get relegated”? At which point he comically called ME stupid. Laughable right?

  41. rico01

Draught Becks Vier for me, not so strong and not too fizzy, oh, and Estrella, which lucky old Bud has just consumed gallons of!!

Otherwise its just good old Pinot Grigio – which happens to be on offer at Tesco. hoorah πŸ˜‰

  42. Arsenal Tom

stu if that continues ill be the happiest man alive… i dream of spurs just crumbling and dissapearing into nothing

  43. dennisdamenace

The perfect year would be Arsenal EPL Champions with the Spudz relegated, celebrated with a mahoosive toasted hog sandwich (cheers rico) washed down with gallons McEwan’s 80 Shilling…….

  44. insidealbania

By the way, did anyone hear Joe Kinear swearing his head off??? And does anyone find what is happening to Newcastle (the Spuds of the North) as amusing as I am????

Big Cheer for our Stars so far THEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    and of course EBBOOOOUUUUUEEEEEEEEEE

  45. Arsenal Tom

DDM your a brave man… i had a pint of that the other night and more or less threw up in my mouth!!

    snakebite!!… now theres a drink!

  46. mark c

The Kinnear interview is pure class

Someone from the Newcaastle press office should have sorted that out staright away.

Its weird to read he is friends with Wenger…

  47. Seb

Nice work with the new post G&P, very cunning. Nuclear meltdown has been avoided it would appear.

Now beer…. there is a subject I can get on with!

Hoegaarden do a couple of nice ones outside their more common lines. One is Hoegaarden Verboden Vrucht, which used to be 8.8% but now is a mere 8.5%, nice dark malty stuff. The other is Hoegaarden Julius, 8.5% again, a real cracker, you need to savour this beauty if you are lucky enough to find it in the UK!

  48. goonermichael

That duvel beer is lethal I was given 24 cases of it to give away in my salon as samples. They said they were aiming it at women as an alternative to wine. It’s 8.5. My dad used to drink stuff like that and he spent the last three years of his life pissing himself and being robbed cos he was off his face.

  49. Arsenal Tom

mark… i agree about the wenger link can u imagine them sitting together talking bout newcastle… wneer trying to point out the good qualities of each player and kinnear just saying ‘hes a cunt’ ‘he’s a cunt to’ and him… ‘what a….’ u get the idea…

i would loved to see the press officer’s face once he called that first bloke a cunt… id have pissed myself

  50. insidealbania

I think having the Spuds and Newcastle relegated in 1 season would be bloody nice. I am sick and tiered of both sets of fans thinking they are a ‘big’ club with a divine right to be challenging for glory every season. They should take a leaf out of the Everton supporters who know where they belong – mid table

  51. mark c

Arsenal Tom, I would pay good money to see that.

Interesting to see the reporter thought Kinnear and Ashley meet in the Orange Tree.

That is where DD has been spotted with Wenger.

Perhaps that is where Wenger meets Kinnear.

  52. kelsey

I have read every post today and no mention of silvestre,is he still injured,i think he would be a perfect player in central defence to bring on tomorrow if needed, though having said that no one has seen him kick a ball in an arsenal shirt.

  53. dennisdamenace

ATom – I had my very first Guinness and Cider snakebite last Friday and thought it tasted like baby sick!

  54. Arsenal Tom

dennis… im not suprised… guiness and cider?? fuck that… get a lager (somthing easy like fosters or carling, strongbow and blackcurrent and its beautiful.

  55. Arsenal Tom

or go for the criptonite/incredible hulk…blue wkd and half a cider… im craving another beer big time now!!!

  56. charybdis1966

DDM, Guinness snakebite ? I can’t imagine snakebite working with anything other than lager (blackcurrant also if you’re about 15 years old). Having cleaned up a fair amount of baby puke in my life the mere smell of it is enough to make my stomach retch.

  57. kelsey

insidealbania I presume you live/work in Albania they are promoting the housing market like mad over here in Spain and several agents here, have agencies there, and new builds are so cheap. Is that true?

    Nursing Home Sex…
Harold is 95 and lives in a Senior Citizen Home. Every night after dinner, Harold goes to a secluded garden behin d the Center to sit and ponder his accomplishments and long life.
One evening, Mildred, age 87, wanders into the garden. They begin to chat and before they know it, several hours have passed.
After a short lull in their conversation, Harold turns to Mildred and asks, ‘Do you know what I miss most of all?’
She asks, ‘What?’ ‘Sex!!’ he replies
Mildred exclaims, ‘Why you old fart. You couldn’t get it up if I held a gun to your head!’
‘I know,’ Harold says, ‘but it would be nice if a woman could just hold it for a while.’
Well, I can oblige,’ says Mildred, who unzips his trousers, removes his manhood and proceeds to hold it. Afterward, they agree to meet secretly each night in the garden where they would sit and talk and Mildred would hold Harold’s manhood.
Then one night Harold didn’t show up at their usual meeting place.
Alarmed, Mildred decided to find Harold and make sure he was O.K.
She walked around the Senior Citizen Home where she found him s i tting by the pool with Ethel, another female resident, who was holding Harold’s manhood!
Furious, Mildred yelled, ‘You two-timing son of a bitch! What does Ethel have that I don’t have?’
Old Harold smiled happily and replied, ‘Parkinson’s.’

  60. Geoff

Hey has anyone noticed how Wenger always blows smoke up the arse of the manager of the team he’s about to face?

Also he said Diaby will soon be back, well what the fuck was wrong with the man, he was injured for months, then makes one pre-season and we haven’t seen him since, he didn’t limp off either, fuck me I wish I could come back as an Arsenal player, what a bunch of wimps.

  61. Arsenal Tom

geoff i couldnt agree more… i know a blokes who broke feet/wrists/ankle’s and were told to ‘jog it off’ then played a game with it… i always think to myself i might not have their ability but i have 100 times the heart some of these people have

  62. patthegooner

On the crazy drinks, does anyone remember blastaway

It was a bottle of K Cider and a bottle of Castaway in a pint glass

    Tasted like Lilt, lovely

  63. Geoff

Tom I tore my ankle ligaments once, they said 2 months, I said 2 weeks, I had to cut my boot and missed 2 sitters, but I was back, I’ve had no long term damage.

  64. Stu

I do, however, get the feeling that a defender will score so i might but a bet on for one of our CBs.If any it will prob be Gallas scoring a late equaliser after losing his man on a corner.

  65. kelsey

Has anyone read the transcript of kinnears interview with the press .it’s in today’s Telegraph, with visual audio.he calls i repoter a cunt, tells another to fuck off. Can’t post the link but it is unbelievable, not surprised with Ashley being chairman.

  66. kelsey

This really is our most important game to date this season,we need a win, especially with a 2 week break coming up.Like geoff and others have said,we have plenty of attacking options, let’s see how the defence holds up.

  67. patthegooner

I thought that as well Kelsey, but I think he is just a passionate guy that is trying to deflect the attention away from the players

Doesn’t help Newcastle much though and I very much doubt it has helped him remind chairman that Joe Kinnear is looking for work.

Newcastle used to be most peoples second favorite team but now they just a joke

  68. kelsey

pat it is not beyond the realms of possibility that Everton,Newcastle and Spurs go down and/or all 3 promoted teams stay up.

  69. patthegooner

Its not at all, I agree

I think the Spuds will be safe, they have money to spend and will get some bodies in Jan. would not surprise me if Pavlechenko goes in Jan as well, apparently he only joined as Arshavin was supposed to be there and he does not look happy at all.

Everton will also probably sneak it

Newcastle though are really up against it, I think they will be the one team of the three to go down.

My money is on Stoke, Newcastle and Bolton

  70. kelsey

If you forget the rivalry with spurs for the moment,it is farcical that they still believe they are a big club. They think if the change manager every year and buy and sell on a wholesale scale they will get instant success. The key to any club is stability first(they have had 8/9 managers since wenger took over) and most probably the most recent mistake they made was the sacking of jol and the underhand way they appointed Ramos.

As a club,no class and never will have,a deluded bunch if ever i saw one.

  71. patthegooner

I think they fucked up when they sacked George Graham

If he didn’t have an Arsenal past I bet he would still be there now

  72. patthegooner

    Our neighbors choy

Was responding to Kelseys point about 8/9 managers since Wenger.

Completely True, they are so desperate to get on an even keel with us, they lose sight of reality. The Spuds could be quite dangerous if they had some stability for a few seasons.

  73. finestcuts

The Spuds have got a lot wrong with their team this season. They sold their two best strikers and got Dos Santos who is only hoping to move on from Tottenham, Pavluchenko who can’t speak English and hasn’t bonded with Darren Bent.

There has been a huge reshuffle, they don’t have any fantastic midfielders (Wenger was right about Modric, he’s not suited to the Premier League) or defenders, the team need to gel, communcations problems, low confidence.

If Tottenham get relegated it won’t be good for us because we could miss out on points, the North London derby is a game I savour as do most Arsenal fans.

There is no point bringing in players who can’t communicate, especially late in the season.
They have a very high chance of getting relegated, it’s almost a certainly they won’t finish in the top 10. They may get a few results, but there are teams out there who really are teams, and by the time Tottenham become one and get a few results going there way it could be too little too late. Bottom six finish for Spurs, the only reason why I don’t want them relegated is because the derby is always a big game.

  74. choy

evening kelsey.. recently they let jol go.. which was the biggest mistake.. look where hamburg are now!

they wanted success too soon.. hahah ! ramos.. well the less said the better.. he can’t have 11 new players or so and expect them to create a new super duper team.. you need the spine! he let robinson go  and in my view.. a lethal partnership between keane and berbatov! modric and all the new boys need time to get up to pace.. and they are already under a lot of pressure! which makes it even more difficult!!

I can see ramos leaving soon if results don’t go their way in the next couple of months or even weeks!
