Superstar keeper says no to new deal |Exciting wide player holds off new deal for Arsenal?

It’s my sisters wedding day, and I’m kind of pent up with emotion. I literally just read Thomas Lemar is holding out on signing a new deal for Monaco because he’s waiting out on Arsenal’s interest. 14 goals, 14 assists from out left. He’s super fit as well. Alexis who?

… sorry, it’s not a tear, it’s just joy water.

What a signing that’d be.

It does make me a little sad. I mean, Monaco were such an incredible team last season, and they’re being desecrated at a rate of knots. I don’t understand why they’re being so weak. Put a foot down, tell the babies their time to leave will come, and make sure the exit strategy is planned so the first team can handle it.

Damn rich vultures killing great poor teams one player at a time!

BIG NEWS IN MILAN, their 18 year old hero of a keeper – Donnarumma – will not renew with the Rossoneri. Amazing slap in the face for a club going through a massive rebuild. Milan aren’t used to that, I mean, they are of late, but you have to say, a surprising move. Arsenal should take a look. Drop a few pennies on him now and that’ll pay back over the years. He looks to have a strong future ahead of him. Would be a very big show of the guns from us.

Jordan Pickford looks to be off to Everton. That’s a good signing for them, but I’m not sure that’d fly with Arsenal. Everton are a club in transition and they need a keeper. Pickford is a risk at that price, but he’ll have the chance to flourish over there in a way I think he’d not have at Arsenal. Too hostile at our place in my opinion.

Right, that’s me done!

    All these rumours
Two weeks ago were 100m players 60m players

    Now it’s 10m Russians 9 m danosh players

    Joke club

Take the responsibility away from him…

  2. Marko

Is Asensio more talented than Mbappe?

Different types of players obviously. I will say this though Asensio is going to be world class in the not too distant future. His potential is basically why James Rodriguez isn’t wanted at Madrid. More than a few times last season with both James and Asensio on the bench ZZ went with Marco to come on. The lad is total mustard

Keeping Wenger and his geriatric comforters at the Club is costing already. Everybody and his mother knows Wenger is done and now reduced to an International Joke.
    Chamberlain wants to leave
Sanchez is forcing himself to City to link up with Pep
Bellerin let us say his DNA is calling .

These are the best we had . Predictably they want to progress and win titles and not Open top Bus Celebration of Nothing .
Predictably, a lot of fans will be booing them. Although at their own workplace they would have taken similar decisions.

Lol..so suddenly chamberlain is one of our best players

“Oxlade-Chamberlain finished second behind Alexis Sanchez in the Arsenal fans’ vote for Player of the Season.”

    Marko:
“If we end up getting decent money for Giroud but let Sandro slip through our fingers at 5 million we’ll look silly imo”

For the quality that Sandro shows this price that Everton are quoted as paying and no reason to disbelieve it as it is said to be his buy out clause then this deal would have to be seen as the best bargain buy of the whole transfer window. And this not just clubs in the EPL. Any club, anywhere.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain finished second behind Alexis Sanchez in the Arsenal fans’ vote for Player of the Season.”

One how fickle are Arsenal fans then. And two how bad were the rest of them if so

For someone so good and guaranteed to be worth 30million in a few years, you have to wonder why no big club in Europe has bought Sandro from Malaga…

  9. Bamford10

We should definitely sell Giroud to West Ham. A substitute striker isn’t impossible to come by and arguably Welbeck already is that. The £25m we can get for Giroud, though, is worth more to us than what the 30-year-old will give us going forward.

    yeah, little odd

  11. champagne charlie

    Bamford

Yep, would go along with that. Welbz as option 2 with a starter in would elevate us.

Aubameyang being offered to Liverpool seems like, Lacazette available, Mbappe the flicker of hope. Would wrap up Lacazette within a week personally.

  12. Ishola70

Sandro joined Malaga and straight away demanded certain clauses in the deal which were guaranteed first team starting place and this low buy out release clause. I t was like he was backing himself to do well at Malaga and he was proven correct.

I suppose Sandro at this stage wants to carry on getting guaranteed first team football and these” big clubs” mentioned would they guarantee first team football? Atletico Madrid were linked to him as well.

Can’t find anything saying that Sandro is difficult to manage or has a bad boy image or such which can be the case sometimes with players going at lower prices than their actual ability. Doesn’t seem to have any bad baggage about him.

  13. Bamford10

Lacazette would be fine, I guess, but I would prefer Belotti. I think Lacazette will probably help, but I’ve never been that impressed with his skill set or game when I’ve watched him. Good stats, but stats aren’t everything.

  14. TR7

If we sell both Perez and Giroud, we will need one more striker other than Lacazzete especially given Welbeck’s injury and scoring record.

  15. Marko

For someone so good and guaranteed to be worth 30million in a few years, you have to wonder why no big club in Europe has bought Sandro from Malaga…

Yeah most of the big boys already have decent strikers on their books or have some talent coming through or are more than happy to wait and don’t mind paying out in the future. We don’t really have any of those luxuries. But you’re absolutely right snarky know it all who’s not an apologist. We don’t need a hot prospect striker for 6 million euros we’ve got Welbeck scoring about 5 goals a season if he’s lucky and Akpom he could still make it. Is Sanogo or Sanchez Watt still here? Never mind that anyway. It’s funny though but when we were linked with Onyekuru for 6.8 million odd you were the kind of halfwit arguing that what’s wrong with us making those kinds of signings and it could be shrewd in the long run but with Sandro for 6 million it’s just sarcasm and stupid remarks. It’s weird that. I suppose it’s because you know full well what kind of player our current manager with his great eye for talent is likely to go for…most likely not the smart or obvious one and you wanna get in quick with the excuses. Good for you Charlie ever the lemming

  16. Marko

I suppose Sandro at this stage wants to carry on getting guaranteed first team football and these” big clubs” mentioned would they guarantee first team football? Atletico Madrid were linked to him as well.

Yep that’s exactly it. If it wasn’t for Atletico’s transfer ban he’d be going there and they’re a big club and have a tremendous track record with strikers over the years. But it seems some are happy with Welbeck as the back up.

  17. china

if ox really came second in our player of the season last year that’s a fucking disgrace.

he put in a 7/10 season. started absolutely horribly. dropped out the team entirely. came back in as a stop gap in a few positions with a handful of decent performances and some average ones

second best player of our season

    how bad were the rest??????

  18. Marko

second best player of our season how bad were the rest??????

Shite the rest were shite. Otherwise how does someone who played half decent for half a dozen games get second best player.

  19. Doublethink

You have to wonder why the fact no big clubs were in for Kante when he signed for Leicester wasn’t taken into consideration when being named the PFA and FWA player of they year.

  20. Wallace

    Bamford

“Lacazette would be fine, I guess, but I would prefer Belotti….”

history would suggest the guy from the French league has a better chance in the PL…

  21. Wallace

    Cech
    Mustafi – Koscielny – Holding
    Ox – Vieira – Xhaka – Kolasinac
    Ozil – Alexis
    Lacazette

    looks alright…

  22. Samesong

Laczette does he really want to come to Arsenal ?in my opinion no. So why do we want hat type of player in our reigns??

  23. Marko

    Cech
    Mustafi – Koscielny – Holding
    Ox – Vieira – Xhaka – Kolasinac
    Ozil – Alexis
    Lacazette

How about Manolas instead of Holding? Or do we still think the defence that conceded over 60 goals still doesn’t need addressing? Makes you wonder why we’re apparently interested in Simon Kjaar though.

  24. David Smith

The Aussie High Performance guy ….Burgess…sounds like the real deal.
Think Ivan deserves some credit here, because this sort of thing clearly didn’t come from Wenger.
    Hopefully more to come

  25. Wallace

    Marko

“How about Manolas instead of Holding? Or do we still think the defence that conceded over 60 goals still doesn’t need addressing?”

as I’ve said before, we concede a lot because of the way we play. tell the wing backs & Xhaka they can’t move past the halfway line and I’m sure goals conceded would come tumbling.

  26. Cesc Appeal

Lots of rumours about Kjaer, I think we were interested in him a few seasons back allegedly.

Many journalists are pointing to the fact he has natural leadership ability on the pitch as a big plus. We certainly need it, Mertesacker’s effect in that sense is palpable when he plays, just a shame you cannot transfer his demeanour and intelligence into Kozz’s body.

Still think we will end up looking at Smalling, he was wanted by Wenger when at Fulham and seems he may be surplus to requirements at United now. Whether Mourinho would sell to Wenger (though not necessarily his choice being manager at an actual football club) and for what price if so would be a different thing.

  27. TR7

Very difficult to judge a player by YouTube videos but that kid Sander Berge at least can run with the ball unlike Elneny, Coq and Xhaka. But as Marko said we could have signed Teilemans for the same price if we were looking for a defensive ball playing midfielder.

  28. Marko

tell the wing backs & Xhaka they can’t move past the halfway line and I’m sure goals conceded would come tumbling.

Under this manager? Who’s had such a cavalier approach to football for so long. We’ve been attack first defend second for so long that expecting us to all of a sudden improve defensively is such a stretch it’s practically unbelievable. Also we struggle to attack at times too. It’s truly unfathomable to me to expect us to compete for trophies without finally addressing the DM and defence issue. For us to not address it means another wastedseason that’ll end like all the others. Addressing it with Berge and Kjaar is again barely addressing the issue but hey we might challenge for top 4 again

  29. Wallace

is Tielemans a defensively minded midfielder? what I’ve seen of him he definitely looks like he prefers to attacj

  30. Marko

It’s not the defence that’s the problem why we concede so many It’s the manager …

Absolutely correct but we’re stuck with him for the foreseeable future which means unless we sign better individuals in defence we will continue to struggle because the coach doesn’t do tactics

  31. Marc

Think we’re going to have a summer of utter shambles in the transfer market. We’ll probably see the club throw some money at a player in a panic after the fans go berserk at the first home match after selling Sanchez, buying no one of any note and drawing to Leicester (1-1 by the way).

Wenger won’t start as manager for season 2018 – 2019. The middle ground fans have turned against him and any goodwill is gone. Selling Sanchez to City, another piss poor summer, WOFT Euro football next season (I expect half empty stadium) will finally see him either give up or moved out for his own well being.

  32. Marko

He’s box to box Wallace. Would of probably been a better option than Xhaka than an actual proper DM. The comparison is more to do with the price and quality. 18 million Barge or 19.8 million Tielemens is such a non brainer

  33. Marko

CA Mourinho would probably only sell Smalling to us at an inflated price if even at all. So in that case Michael Keane might be a decent shout

  34. Joe

The problem with wellbeck is he doesn’t score.

Giroud at least comes off the bench and scores. He’s a much better #2 than wellbeck

We need a number 1 WC striker and sell wellbeck.

If Giroud leaves then sign another to be our #2.

I’d rather keep Perez and Give him A chance than keep wellbeck

  35. Wallace

    Marko

“We’ve been attack first defend second for so long that expecting us to all of a sudden improve defensively is such a stretch it’s practically unbelievable. as you’re pretty much suggesting yourself, it’s a systems issue, not a question of individual talent.

    Marks

He will dry out any player we sign with any defensive nous …

Mid table medoricty awaits the club

  37. Marc

    Er problem with Welbeck?

How about he’s had 2 serious knee injuries in 2 seasons with us. I think he’s a useful hardworking member of the squad certainly shouldn’t be our no 1 striker but that’s all irrelevant when on recent history he’ll get injured in September / October and not return until April.

  38. Marc

    Joe

Every time I saw Perez last season he either got an assist, hit the post or scored and the guy’s leaving because he couldn’t get a game.

    Fucking crazy.

  39. China

Yeah I have to agree on welbeck and giroud

Giroud is a really frustrating player but at the end of the day he brings quite a few strengths to the table which, if played to, are useful. He is great in the air, good with knock downs, flicks and hold up play. As well he can be banked onto contribute a reasonable number of goals and isn’t injury prone

His weaknesses are well documented too. He’s slow and slows the game down. He can’t break in behind and can’t be relied on to take a solitary half chance in a big game.

But where does welbeck outperform him? He doesn’t score anywhere near as many goals. He’s not as good in the air or with the ball at his feet frankly. He’s not as good at hold up play and doesn’t have the flick ons to fall back on. He has pace – but how many times do you see him burst in behind and actually score?

Welbeck is hardworking and he’s fast, but that’s about where his qualities end. He’s a terrible goal scorer to be blunt. A player with a record like his has no business being even a second choice CF at a major club. His record would be more acceptable as a winger.

But it’s all the more disappointing because welbeck looks like he could be a real player until he actually gets on the field lol. He had that Henry-esque look about him physically, but unfortunately he’s nowhere near good enough for this level. If we sold him he’d end up at a team like Bournemouth.

Giroud on the other hand has done enough to be a useful backup imo

  40. champagne charlie

Marko getting his feelings hurt online because someone doubts his absolute devotion to Sandro…. lol

Every fucking team is looking for a striker you wombat, Arsenal, United, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, Dortmund, Lyon, Atletico etc.. But its Everton for your ’30mil’ gem. You even advocate getting rid of Giroud (who is a guaranteed threat/goal return) for a totally unproven Spanish starlet. Glad you’re not the manager

Dry your eyes kid, its the internet

  41. tonyd

    No surprise there then.

There are many gifted (both youth and experienced players) available at various fees with which Wenger can rebuild the team.

Mbappe was always a long shot with so many clubs wanting him and Real having been courting Mabappe since he was 14, so at best Wenger should just monitor the situation and move on to rebuilding the squad now.

Waiting for Mabappe to get back from his family holidays for his final decision is a useless waste of time, especially at a time when ambitious clubs and smaller clubs, such as Everton are making their own statements wit the players they are buying and in negotiations with.

It actually works better with the Mbappe situation if Wenger goes out and buys say, Alves, Rabiot, Lemar, Sidibe, Jose Gimenez and maybe Lacazette to make a statement to Mbappe. Also this might just convince Sanches to rethink his position.

Mabappe might just think with the squad Wenger is assembling he would be better at Arsenal then Real.

Right now with our current dross squad and Wenger not buying class players and looking at free and £10 to £15 million players, if I were Mabappe, I wouldn’t even contemplate Joining us.

Wenger’s current transfer activity is not making a statement on any level. He’s just doing what he has been doing for the last decade or longer.

I’ve always said that Wenger needs to make a huge statement now and show to everyone he’s back in the game by rebuilding the squad and getting rid of average mid table club players who serve no purpose in challenging for the EPL.

“Kylian Mbappe has told Monaco he only wants to leave for Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain.”

“Mbappe has been linked with a number of other clubs around Europe, including Arsenal and Liverpool, but the France international has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. ”
